Obama repeats veto threat against House Republicans' funding measure

The White House has restated its veto threat against the government funding measure passed by the House last month ahead of a Senate test vote on the measure Wednesday afternoon.

"If the President is presented with a bill that undermines critical priorities or national security through funding levels or restrictions, contains earmarks, or curtails the drivers of long-term economic growth and job creation while continuing to burden future generations with deficits, the President will veto the bill," the White House statement read.

The statement is identical to the White House's veto threat last month when the measure was making its way through the House.

The Senate is expected to hold test votes later Wednesday afternoon on both the House-passed measure, which would cut $61 billion from across federal agencies, and a competing Senate Democratic measure that would cut less than $5 billion.

Ahead of the test votes, the White House announced that Obama will meet with Senate Democratic leaders later Wednesday afternoon.
