Campaign Ads a Clinton Family Affair

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has been reluctant to bring her daughter and mother into the limelight for most of the last year of campaigning. But now she is struggling in Iowa -- and failing to capture the all-important female vote -- so guess what?

Both Chelsea Clinton and Dorothy Rodham are starring in new ads.

The campaign said on Thursday that it would begin airing the 30-second Dorothy spot immediately. It features the elderly woman saying she would want to see Clinton elected "even if she weren't my daughter." (Bill Clinton uses similar terminology on the campaign trail, saying he would stump for her even if she weren't his wife.) Details of the Chelsea ad have not been announced yet, but campaign officials said it would be released soon.

Why is Dorothy Rodham the only person Anne Kornblut has ever characterized as "elderly" in a news story? And why does she do it in EVERY story that mentions her? Is Anne concerned we might mistakenly believe Sen Clinton's mother is a young or middle aged woman? I think not.

"But now she is struggling in Iowa -- and failing to capture the all-important female vote -- so guess what?"

2 minutes with google:
Rasmussen yesterday:"Among women, it's Clinton 34%, Obama 25%, and Edwards 21%. Among men, Obama attracts 28% support, Clinton 23% and Edwards 22%. "

MSNBC 12/9:"-- Hillary Clinton's support is what you'd expect: women, folks over 50 and union members."

I think Anne Kornblut proves anew her lack of reliability and professionalism on a daily basis. I do believe someone with the time, inclination and investigative skills needs to delve into the question of "Just what the hell is Anne Kornblut's problem with Sen Clinton?"

Without having yet seen the ad, it somehow makes me expect something along the lines of the Campbell's Chunky Soup spots.
