AZ: CNN, Fox Declare McCain Winner
By Ann Scott Tyson
With more than 30 percent of the polls counted, Sen. John McCain had 50 percent of the vote to Mitt Romney's 30 percent according to official state data, leading CNN and FOX news to declare McCain the Republican winner in Arizona.
According to exit polls, Romney ran about evenly with the senator among mainline Republicans, while McCain held a wide edge among independents. Arizona was one of two states today where illegal immigration -- a Romney strength -- and the economy were about even as the top issue facing the nation.
