James Dobson Preparing to Endorse Huckabee

By Michael D. Shear
Even as Sen. John McCain appeared to wrap up the GOP nomination with the departure of his chief rival, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, evangelical leader James Dobson is preparing to endorse Mike Huckabee, according to the Associated Press.

The founder of Focus on the Family had issued an intense critique of McCain on Tuesday, saying he would never vote for the Arizona senator. Now, it appears he's ready to endorse Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and onetime Baptist minister.

The endorsement would be welcome, but probably too late. Huckabee surged to the front of the GOP field after winning Iowa's caucuses at the beginning of January. But he's since fizzled, with little money to keep going.

Dr. Dobson's approval - like we didn't know this was coming? Sorta makes you wonder why Dr. Dobson didn't give his approval until now, doesn't it. He had to be sure that Huckabee was at least one of two remaining candidates first.

Let's see then, how did he do this?

Dr. Dobson and his cohorts have shown deception/lies in the video spot sent out to thousands/millions of voters just before the Florida primary.

Wonder why Huckabee wasn't worried about Florida?
Ever wonder why Dobson was quoted as saying he was considering voting for Romney or Huckabee, yet at the same time he was scheming to denigrate Mitt Romney's faith with the knowledge of how important the conservative christian vote on Super Tuesday would be?

Truth be told, Huckabee and his friends were completely surprised that they didn't take South Carolina, so.......

On Dr. Dobson's 'Focus on the Family' video spot on Mitt Romney, Romney was quoted as saying, that "the Mormon faith is not Christian." Now why would they do this?
To confirm to all their supporters that the vote for the true 'Christian' had the approval of God himself.

Some of us know exactly what Dr. Dobson, Tony Perkins (defender of family, faith and freedom?) were doing.
We have to bring Richard Land (Southern Baptist Convention) into this special threesome, since the SBC updated their 1998-2008 'Baptist Press' website to continue their worn-out lie to the world, that the LDS faith is a cult. And it's not quite a 'secret' that evangelical minister's preach against 'mormonism' directly from their pulpits. They also get heavily involved in politics by controlling means to their supporters. To NOT vote for one of your own, basically means you are turning from the 'written' word in the Bible.

The nation was rattled with tornadoes on Super Tuesday - mind you, in the same states that Mike
Huckabee won. (Even evangelicals agree that God has foreknowledge of all things.) Perhaps, they didn't have that approval afterall.

For evangelicals to state that 'divine intervention' is what helped Huckabee gain votes, it was anything but.
Anti-mormon phonecalls to Iowa and New Hampshire, Focus on the Families 'lie' was emailed across the nation, and unknown numbers of evangelicals' preaching to their congregations, that they must vote for the 'true' christian.

It's true that after years and years of lies/distortions/misrepresentations from many individuals in the evangelical community, that many have been led from the truth in what The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints truly believes. (And they can't quite seem to figure out why we send out missionaries?)

Most importantly, the 'deal' that was made before the Florida primary and Super Tuesday spoke volumes when I, along with thousands/millions? U.S. citizens received
the 'Mitt Romney' lied-about quote. This of course, would benefit McCain as well in a big way, with Huckabee as his VP wannabe.

To have 'values voters' (like Mormons aren't values voters?), raised up as the determining factor in choosing a 'God-fearing' candidate while at the same time spreading lies and malicious gossip about the LDS church is outrageous.

Freedom of religion (and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is CHRISTIAN),
and tolerance should be the bedrock of a community which purports to uphold noble standards and values.

The role that Dr. Dobson, Tony Perkins and Richard Land played in this particular democratic election, makes them lose their credibility.

You can't preach values while at the same time, disregard the foundation of values....that being,
honesty and integrity of heart.

Gee, I wonder why Romney had so much trouble connecting? And I would hope that the person who mentioned making a movie about Huckabee's rise, will truly get their facts straight.

I have had it with the "conservative Christians" and their views on family. I have had it with their Bible-thumping, born-again president! Seven years of one of those is enough for me - now we have torture, rendition, military troops on 15 month TDYs, lack of psychiatric and medical care for the wounded in mind and body, thousands losing homes, unemployment increasing, and a president who uses "signing statements" to make an end-run around any law passed that he does not like (and isn't that dictatorship?). Thanks but no thanks - if Dobson is for him, then I am not!

When a Neo-Pharisee like Dobson endorses Huckabee it indicates to me that Huckabee may one of the false prophets Jesus warns about. The negative fruits include a wedding gift registry when exiting office after 25 years of marriage--is taking bribes Christian or is the love of money the root of all evil?

ACCOMPLISHMENTS of Mike Huckabee, Only true Conservative who stands by his convictions.
1. With ten-and-a-half years of experience running state government, Governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas has more relevant executive experience than any candidate in the race - either Republican or Democrat.

2. Recognized and tapped by his peers for leadership, the National Governor's Association selected Governor Huckabee as it's Chairman,

3. TIME Magazine honored him as one of the five best Governors in America.

4. Governor Huckabee is a fiscal conservative who cut taxes almost 100 times in the state of Arkansas, including the state's first broad-based tax cuts, and turned a $200 million deficit into an $850 million surplus.

ISSUES
1. TAXES/ECONOMY -Governor Huckabee supports The FairTax because it will restore the "Made in America" label, making American goods 12-25% more competitive, boosting economic growth, increasing our exports, and securing American jobs. It also prevents criminals or illegal aliens from avoiding taxes, and makes the taxes we all pay 100% transparent.

2. GOVERNMENT SPENDING - Governor Huckabee is committed to reducing government spending. One way he'll do this is by reducing the cost of welfare. Governor Huckabee will work with states to reduce welfare roles through programs like the one he implemented in Arkansas, which reduced welfare roles by 50%.

3. HEALTH CARE -Governor Huckabee will implement a consumer-based healthcare system that emphasizes preventative medicine and wellness. Because 70% of our $2 trillion dollar healthcare costs is spent treating chronic, preventable diseases, this approach will make healthcare more affordable for everybody while keeping us healthier.

4. FAMILY VALUES -Governor Huckabee supports a federal constitutional amendment to protect the right to life. He Successfully fought for Arknasas' marriage amendment and strongly supports a similar, federal constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

5. IMMIGRATION -Governor Huckabee will secure the border (with physical barriers, electronic surveillance, and more border-patrol personnel and detention facilities). He will also end sanctuary cities and increase penalties on, and enforcement against, employers who hire illegal immigrants. Governor Huckabee will make sure the border patrol has adequate funding to end our "catch and release" system so that everyone caught trying to enter illegally, overstaying their visa, or committing a crime will be held until they're tried, convicted, and deported.

6. WAR ON TERROR AND IRAQ - Governor Huckabee knows it takes a large, well-equipped military to ensure our national defense and to deter conventional military confrontations. He also knows we need large, well-equipped intelligence and Special Forces operations for our national offense - so we can effectively find and eliminate terrorists threats at home or abroad. Governor Huckabee will be a Commander in Chief who knows that IF WE HAVE TO FIGHT A WAR, our President has to fight it the way our GENERALS tell him it can be won, not the way we wants it to be won.

7. ENERGY INDEPENDENCE -Governor Huckabee will implement a program to end the import of foreign oil in the next ten years by increasing domestic oil production in the short term, and then replacing oil-based energy infrastructure with alternative and renewable energies.

8. CLEMENCIES - Arkansas Governors grant clemency, but the parole board grants parole. Wayne DuMond's parole was granted by the board and NOT Governor Huckabee.

9. TAXES -When Governor Huckabee left office, the tax rates remained exactly the same as when he first came into office. Governor Huckabee returned almost $400 million to Arkansas taxpayers, and he also DOUBLED the standard deduction for individuals and married couples, DOUBLED the childcare tax credit, and eliminated the marriage penalty. He also repealed capital gains taxes for home sales, lowered the capital gains rate by 25%, expanded the homestead exemption, and set up tax-free savings accounts for medical care and college tuition.

10. SECOND AMENDMENT-
• Lifetime member of the NRA, member for over 15 years
• First Governor to have concealed-carry permit
• Removed restrictions on carry permit holders
• Protected gun manufacturers from frivolous lawsuits
• Opposes reauthorization of the Assault Weapon Ban
• Opposes expansion of the unconstitutional "Brady Bill"
• Opposes waiting period for purchase of firearms
• Opposes background checks on private firearms transactions at gun shows
• Will nominate judges who interpret the Constitution a the Founders intended, rather than as a "living document reflecting current political trends or opinions"
• An avid hunter and conservationist, and a member of the Ducks Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation and BASS.

Huckabee is the an amazing man of God and he would make a wonderful President a man that humbles himself before our Almighty God and prays is a man who deserves a position where he goes before Kings and that man is Huckabee. God Bless All

Wow! Such hostility towards Christianity here. Other than that wacko guy picketing gay funerals, I don't know of any Christians "hating" non-Christians. Most of us understand "Love one another."

P.S. to TomJx (I think I've pointed this out to you before, but just in case you honestly missed it): Huckabee would not install a theocracy as he stated on "Meet the Press" http://msnbc-wbpreview/id/22409176/

Huckabee is scheduled to be the guest this Sunday on "Meet the Press" as well.

Dobson is a fraud. McCain is not bowing to him and that is driving him and all of the other lunatics (Limbaugh et al.) nuts. They will all be marginalized for the next 4 years.

Obviously there are folks out there who don't hang on every word emitting from Dobson's mouth! Even here in eastern Idaho where conservatism rules, you can occasionally see a pickup truck with the bumper sticker that says "Focus on Your Own D--- family!" I love it!

Those who think Huckabee is a "diamond in the rough" and as an evangelical he would become a wonderful leader are sadly mistaken. As a Republican and Arkansan I know Huckabee. He is as venal and greedy for power and money as any man I have ever seen. He is smart; he is glib and quick with a cute retort because of his experience as a disc jocky (!!!!!), and he has lost 100 pounds plus. Do those things make him a proper candidate for President of the U.S. and a leader on the world stage--even if James Dobson endorses? Of course not; Hukckabee is, in fact , a small town "almost hick" who made a mess of Arkansas tenure as Governor (taking the office intitially by accident)and was famously known for his inability to make up his mind on anything, but most iportantly, his inability to see that he was, as Governor, not relly supposed to take STATE MONEY and put it in his pocket. That he has to this point fooled so many people across the Country as to who he is, makes me physically ill. We all deserve much, much better--and with more Christian vallues--than this man.

One of Dobson's criticisms of McCain is that McCain has been known to use profanity. Hmm. McCain is a war hero with 27 years in the Navy, including 5 as a POW. Dobson is a draft-dodger. McCain has a son who is a Marine serving in Iraq. Dobson's kids are on his payroll at their facility in Colorado, from where they preach about the need for a strong national defense (among other things). I call that ironic. I'll take the fighter with salty language over the hypocrite with his hand out anyday.

It's about time! Let's hope we don't have another Bush in for another 4 years and I believe that is what McCain brings to the table. Everyone on board, think long and hard about Huckabee. He is a good man. Better than what is there now and much better that McCain.

Earth to vote4mikehuckabee:
If you wish to choose Huckabee and Dobson as your spiritual leaders, that's fine.
If you want to live in a theocracy, try elsewhere.
If you think the rest of us are going to let you try to hijack our republic, think again.

McCain must be really bad when a leader people take seriously will come out and endorse such a sleazy, killer-loving, business-hating, Confederate flag-waving bigot as Huckabee.

Talk about a success story, Mike Huckabee could make a great inspirational movie.

Mike Huckabee has so much charisma and flare, he ignites his voters with inspirational power.

Dr. James Dobson's endorsement of Mike Huckabee tonight is super huge. Dobson, the founder of Focus on the Family, holds perhaps more influence over rank-and-file Christians than any other evangelical leader in the country.

His backing carries enormous weight, because of the number of voters he reaches via his organization, radio show and is symbolic.

This represent a major validation of Huckabee's presidential candidacy.
