Jetting the Oprah Way

By Matthew Mosk
Much of the help that Sen. Barack Obama has received from television talk show icon Oprah Winfrey is well known and was well publicized.

Obama's report filed with the Federal Election Commission, however, shows his campaign also received some travel assistance from the nation's wealthiest woman.

Obama lists a $38,610 payment to Harpo Productions, Winfrey's company, for "travel/lodging" expenses.

The Obama campaign confirmed the payment was to reimburse Winfrey for the use of her airplane.

So what's wrong with Oprah helping her candidate? Romney can afford his own plane, as can Hillary. McCain's wife is wealthy also, so he's probably all right in the jet set department. If it's legal, it's OK by me.

Gee whiz. Who'd have thought Matt Mosk could read? I'm interested in an explanation of the criteria for which line items of these quarterly reports merit Trail posts, articles, web mention, etc. So far they are indecipherable, except for the possibility it's "caught Matt Mosk's eye".
