Sen. Feingold to Stay Neutral, for Now
By Shailagh Murray
Sen. Russ Feingold is still on the fence in the Democratic nomination battle. And the popular Wisconsin lawmaker is not budging anytime soon.
"I'm not going to endorse" -- at least before his state votes next Tuesday, said Feingold. He did leave open the option of a post-primary nod, depending on the Badger State outcome. "A significant win by one or the other would have a significant influence on my position, on whether I stay neutral," said Feingold.
But despite his clout with antiwar voters, which would seem to make him a natural Obama ally, the senator said he doesn't want to meddle before Feb. 19. "I believe that's Wisconsin courtesy," Feingold said.
