TN: Tornadoes Hurt Obama's Chances

Updated 9:21 p.m.
By Krissah Williams
The tornadoes that touched down in western Tennessee tonight hurt Sen. Barack Obama in the state, said the state's Democratic Party spokesman, Wade Munday. There were reports that Memphis precincts closed early, but Munday and the Memphis Commercial Appeal said election officials were encouraged to keep polls open and did. In Bartlett, a city in predominantly black Shelby County, precinct captains took ballots home after the polls closed to count them and avoid the inclement weather, Munday said.

Community colleges, Boy Scout troops and churches canceled evening meetings. Polls showed Hillary Clinton winning all groups except black voters and independents.

Doesn't anybody think it was a convenient storm? How about CNN frightening people early on in the day, that if they so much as see a cloud STAY HOME?? Tell me, since we now know that the present US government is capable of mass destruction on their own land, have they learned how to generate a weather system??? May sound crazy but look what they did on Sept 11th? Just one canadian's view! In Canada we hear the real news they hide from all of you. Praying for you all.

Indeed a tornado has hit Clinton, Arkansas, which has nothing to do with Bill or Hillary Clinton. Many people have lost their homes and livelihoods, reports are that at least one person has lost his life. Most of the area has no power. The people of Clinton need your prayers and not your silly remarks trying to link a natural disaster to a political campaign. Grow up!

fbutler1 is right on. I thought trisha2's post was very funny... and I seriously doubt she thinks the Almighty actually sent a tornado straight through Memphis to help Hillary. Or any other candidate.

23%

I only mention that because the post led me to believe Obama was in contention. Since that is obviously not the case, one must wonder why a talented writer like Krissah Williams leaves her readers with that impression.

I think that the first post was sarcasm, people... sarcasm, which was alluding to "W" in the first place. But why is it "bashing" or "Bush-bashing". What everyone says is true - Bush is a poor model of an American... maybe he's a good example (because the average American is probably this stupid and irresponsible), which makes him a poor vehicle for displaying American ideals... Nobody should like him, there are many reasons why - new ones come up everyday.

CNN just reported that a tornado has hit the town of Clinton, Arkansas.

I'm not joking.

Get in touch with reality people, one imperfect person cannot single handedly run this country. None of the candidates are the Messiah, they are simply people. Congress must too take owness over our current conditions. It is important as a good citizen to take responsibility and vote, but everytime there is a presidential election not just this one and when there are minor elections also. All those that are running for President are running on Their own ambition and drive for political power, this is why they are all running. Remember it is We the people, we are not looking for a King or a Queen. Yes please don't claim that God has sent any of these Candidates least alone Hillary. For those of you that feel Hillary is the Messiah, I recommend reading the book written some time ago by Dick Morris called Rewriting History. She has changed her stories more times than her undergarments. Where are the truth tellers? If God truly sent a candidate I wonder how many americans would even recognize they were sent by God? There are many Americans that are tired of all the hatred and bitterness and strife by those that continue to point out differences or what we don't agree on instead of what we do agree on. There will not be many changes for the better until we stop feeling sorry for ourselves and quit looking for some political Messiah. But roll up our sleeves and work for all our common good not just the party we presume to represent, we are all Americans Democrats and Republicans and independents together. If you preach peace then stop preaching hatred toward other Americans that happen to be from another party Democrats and Republicans included. Make sure before you blindly follow anyone you really know what they stand for not just because they are in your party or the media has touted how great they are, or how evil they are. Don't be caught in this feeding frenzie. The blind leading the blind.

Or here's a crazy thought. Maybe it's just bad weather. I'm no GWB-lover but wow, how quickly did this turn into Bushbashing?? LOL

Whose God? It's the same god that George Bush talked to every day.

Posted by: ceton | February 5, 2008 6:59 PM | Report abuse

Heaven help us if that's who's deciding the election... according to George Bush, God wanted him to be president last time around. This Tennessean voted for Obama!

That's it; God wants Hillary to win.
