Obama, Releasing Returns, Presses Clinton on Taxes

By Matthew Mosk and Alec MacGillis
Sen. Barack Obama attempted today to up the ante in his effort to force rival Sen. Hillary Clinton to release her tax returns.

Obama released copies of his tax returns covering 2000 to 2006 today, forms that show the steady income he received from his publishing deals, and that his wife worked for the University of Chicago hospital.

Robert Gibbs, the campaign's communication director, said on a conference call: "Releasing tax returns is a matter of routine. We believe the Clinton campaign should meet that routine standard and meet that routine standard now. This campaign is now going on into its 14th month and I don't think voters should have to wait until three days before the next primary to learn more about the finances of the Clintons."

The returns showed the Obamas made just under $1 million in 2005 and gave just over $60,000 to charity in 2006 and $77,000 in 2005 -- an amount that included $5,000 that year to the now-controversial Trinity United Church of Christ.

Gibbs urged the Clintons to follow suit, saying questions had already been raised about the nature of many of the Clintons' investments, such as the partnership Bill Clinton had with major donor Ron Burkle. Gibbs noted that the Burkle investment company Yucaipa used of offshore tax shelters, and the tax returns would show whether the former President was collecting his Yucaipa compensation in cash or equity, and what tax rates he was paying on the earnings.

The Clinton campaign fired back with a press release calling Obama's personal finances "opaque" by comparison to the Clintons, who released 20 years of tax returns during the period while Bill Clinton was in the White House. The Clinton campaign statement argued that Obama has not disclosed "what cases he worked on that involved [indicted donor] Tony Rezko or his companies" and has not released "the name of the broker who managed his controversial 'semi-blind' trust."

Gibbs said it was a bit rich for Clinton aides to be calling Obama's release insufficient when her campaign hasn't released any tax returns from the period after they left the White House. "We feel pretty good that [today's release] is a commitment to transparency and open government that hasn't been met by the two remaining candidates in this race," Gibbs said.

The Clinton campaign has said it will release more tax returns in mid-April, during the run-up to the Pennsylvania primary.

It would be interesting to know Hillary's
church affiliations for the past 20 years.
Does anybody know?

I think Sen. Barac Obama must learn how to respect women. His attitude towards Sen. Hillary Clinton is bad to worst day by day. This is not the way to win presidential nomination.!!!!

Talk about a Rovian tactic: "My opponent hasn't released her taxes". Well apparently now she is going to - conclusion - she's rich! That was definitely worth a week of sniping.

In my adult lifetime I can't remember another Democratic primary race where it has been this close this late. Yet the Obamaniacs are in an absolete frenzy demanding Clinton withdraw for the "good of the party". Please ask yourself if you would take you own advice if you were in her position.

Also, all the hit piece books from the chattering class are out on Clinton. If you think Obama will be immune to the same treatment you are inexperienced of delusional. Clinton is not the one hurting Obama's chances in the general. She is just providing Obama and the primary voters and extremely mild version of what the Rove/McCain campaign have ready for him in the fall.

GROW UP!

I can guarantee Hillary would never cheat on her taxes. She might "misstate" her income and expenses, but that just proves she's human, and subject to the worst of all sins, self-delusion!! Time for the witch to go away. She's already accomplished what she wanted, destroying Obama's chance to beat McCain.

Then again, McCain is now starting to seem so old and lame, he might not make it to November.

If anyone pulled crap like this working for a company, they'd be fired. Plain and simple.

Instead, she still gets to stay in the race for the highest office in the land. What a disgrace.

Update: 52% who heard speech less likely to vote for Obama? March 2008

All the obama supporters defending him staying with his spiritual camp advisor and TCC, ALL the black ministers defending Wrights so-called preaching of hate simply tells ALL Americans they support his feelings of anti-America and white hatred that the church endoreses. Why else would a parent continue to raise his young daughters in that atmosphere if he didn't have the same beliefs! No one says Obama cant attend the church for 20 years, or raise his daughters to be racist like his wife, what we ARE SAYING is that HE CANNOT REPRESENT ALL OF AMERCIA AS U.S. PRESIDENT! Rev Wright was and most likely still is a paid advisor on Obamas campaign??? Obama and David Axelrod insisted that Obama be the black candidate early in SC when they tried to spin it on Bill Clinton, it worked for the biased tabloid media like CNN cronies, since then, we ALL have come to realize Obama has problems with the truth and we learned this week for sure where his faith and true beliefs are, its obvious THERES ABSOLUTLY NO CHANGE WITH OBAMA, HE WILL DRAG U.S. BACK TO THE 60'S RACIAL DIVIDE at a time our country needs to unite. He cannot do that, no matter how many black news casts tell you he can.

OBAMA STANDS BEHIND SPIRITAL ADVISOR WRIGHT!
"Wright is like an uncle you love and respect" As imperfect as he may be, he has been family to me for so many years, I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community, said Obama. The man who believes and preaches the U.S. government formulated the HIV AIDS virus to commit genocide against blacks also preaches "We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye on 9/11. This is the same man Obama had as advisor on his Presidential staff until this week. Rather than break ties with his demagogic, anti-American pastor, Obama used a speech on the non-back race to excuse his behavior and sweep the controversy under the rug. Passing the buck. Obama supposedly condemning Wright's shocking verbal assaults against the U.S and White Americans, but April last year; Obama was the first and quickest to demand Imus' ouster for making a racially insensitive remarks. His opinions and issues change with the weather, he is too UNSTABLE and proven he cannot make a decision or stay with one. Next we have ALL corrupt campaign financers, business and personal friends as indicted Rezko, former Dallas Mayor Hill, Rep. Rick Renzi and Mr. Auchi, leading supplier of arms to Saddam's regime convicted for corruption in France, the same British-Iraqi billionaire lent millions and millions of dollars to Obama all coming out of the woodwork. ALL this from the half black ex-Muslim who touts change and claims to be a uniter of all people? Proof he is just another in-experienced Washington politician that the media has like CNN has given a free pass at the great risk of our great country! There will soon be allot more video of Rev Wright and Obama coming, all this has proven without doubt if he is the nominee the democrat voters he cannot win the general election, just the black vote will not do it. Its time for Obama to leave this race and take his not so proud of America racist wife, spiritual advisor and anti white church with him..

you know.. i am getting more upset about what hillary said regarding the bosnia incident.

--------------

hillary said, "So I made a mistake, that happens," she said when the question was raised again. "It proves I'm human -- which for some people is a revelation."

-----------------------

ummmm.. what if chelsea was married, and then got divorced. what if hillary went to the human services in new york and said, "her ex husband shot at us! we had to run for cover!!! when it wasn't true?"

how would THAT play????

what if someone went to PRISON for hillary's LIES?????????

what is the difference when she lied to THE ENTIRE WORLD ABOUT MADE UP GUN FIRE AND IMAGINED SHOOTINGS..... VS. her imagined events about her daughter and her husband.

it is obvious hillary has NO CLUE as to what is REALITY anymore... THIS IS DANGEROUS.

i don't want some psycho schizophrenic lady running MY country.

hillary can go back to arkansas and milk donkeys.

she is the WRONG person to be running for the dem nomination.

chersplace....I'm not sure where you've gotten your information, but the veracity is suspect. Where have you read that Senator Obama's tax returns were 'incomplete'? I'd be interested to know where you get your info. Moreover, whether incomplete or not, at least Senator Obama is making an attempt at transparency...something Senator Clinton seems woefully incapable of.

Your attitude of not caring whether Hillary releases her tax returns only shows that you don't care about the Democratic party or the future of this country...blindly supporting a candidate, regardless whether her tax returns may show that her decision-making as President of the United States may be influenced by whomever has been paying hers and Bill's salary since they've left office. As an American citizen, that suggests apathy or possible irrationality regarding your decision about whom to support.

I will vote for the candidate who at least makes an effort to demonstrate that he will be serving the citizens of the United States rather than the highest bidder.

If you had bothered to read my post you would have understood my point.
The man has been asking for Hillary Clintons returns for months, when he hadn't yet released any of his own. He is a hypocrite. He released his returns today without any supporting documents.
I hope she never releases her returns because it really doesn't matter. People like you will find something to complain about in them, or you will just make up something to insult her with.
Anyway. I realize that you don't really want any information you just like to have back and forth of who can come up with the most insulting post.
Have a good evening and enjoy yourself.

whatdoesthismean

Are you joking? His transparancy?

He has been complaining for months about wanting Hillary to release her tax returns and he just today released his.

All of his supporters believed he had already released his returns because of his insistence on wanting Hillary to release hers. He is very misleading.

Also where are all of the other records.
Like the schedules that go along with the 1040's? You know the part with all the details.
Where are his records from his time in the legislature, his time in the senate?
Where are the records of his dealings with Rezko and his association with Ayers.

Barack Obama plays this game with his supporters, like a magician where he is constantly directing attention away from what he is actually doing.

Why was he asking for her returns before and not even mentioning that he hadn't yet released his?

I cannot believe that people are so easily misled by this man.

I know, Hillary got caught in a lie.
She is only human.

Barack Obama is also human although some of his supporters seem to think he is superhuman. Why don't any of his supporters care about any of his lies.
He said he didn't hear the remarks of Reverend Wright and then two days later gives a speech defending the remarks.
He lied about the money he recieved from Rezko. He lied about things he accomplished in the senate. He lies all of the time.

People it's time to really look at the candidate. If he fools enough people into voting for him then we are going to have another Republican in office. The Republican party will make sure each and every detail of his life is examined and he will not be able to win the general election.
A vote for Obama is a vote for McCain.

Obama is a distant cousin to Cheney and now Bush! Small World indeed.
Is Obama a closet Repubican or what? No wonder he was wowing about Ronald Reagan a few weeks ago. Although Reagan was an affable guy he was no great president by any measures. They credit him for the demise of the former Soviet Union; but the Soviets collapsed under their incompetent bloated system and not because of Reagan's vision. Back to BHO newly discovered cousin:

Obama a distant cousin of Bush

Source: BBC News

It has emerged that Barack Obama is a tenth cousin, once removed, of the man whose job he wants - George W Bush.

They are linked by Samuel Hinkley of Cape Cod, who died in 1662.

Mr Obama is also a distant cousin of the actor Brad Pitt while Hillary Clinton is related to Mr Pitt's girlfriend, Angelina Jolie.

The ties of the US Democratic rivals were established by a respected US genealogical organisation after three years' investigation.

Mrs Clinton and Mr Obama can also boast a long list of other famous relations.

Christopher Child, from the New England Historic Genealogical Society, says that the politicians' ancestries show they have more in common than they think.

The Society, founded in 1845, is the oldest and biggest non-profit genealogical organisation in the United States.

The research, conducted by Mr Child and Gary Boyd Roberts, came up with some extraordinary family connections.

Clinton and Madonna

Mr Obama is the son of a white woman from Kansas and a black man from Kenya.

He was previously identified as a distant cousin of US Vice-President Dick Cheney.

His political lineage includes not just President Bush but also Gerald Ford, Lyndon Johnson, Harry S Truman, Dick Cheney and Winston Churchill.

The connection made with Hollywood star Brad Pitt adds a welcome splash of glamour to his family tree.

But Mrs Clinton's kin has much more of an exotic feel.

Her distant cousins include the singers Madonna, Celine Dion and Alanis Morisette, as well as the beatnik author Jack Kerouac and Prince Charles's wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles.

She and Angelina Jolie are ninth cousins, twice removed. They are both related to one Jean Cusson, who died in St Sulpice, Quebec, in 1718.

If the Hollywood couple, collectively known as "Brangelina", decide on a very extended family gathering, it could provide the perfect opportunity for the two Democratic presidential rivals to get together.

tmalisch, do you even read the news "sunstance", or do you just base your "opinions" on headlines?

Obama has already released (made public) his previous years tax returns before he even entered the race.

The Clinton's asked for his entire tax returns since entering the senate, and he did just that. See, nothing to hide.

On the other side, you have a candidate that has yet to, even as late in the game as it is now, to produce a single document relating to their personal finances SINCE BILL LEFT OFFICE 8 years ago.

Why? Because the Clinton's are cunning politicians. Because their is stuff inside them that THEY KNOW will hurt their chances of being the democratic nominee.

The bluff they are/were calling, is that they believed that in the general election, the countries desire to be rid of the GOP would overshadow any "questionable" information found in their finances.

ut right now, they are running a mini-general election.....but up against a very very tough & appealing opponent. Something in their finances that didn't "smell right" WOULD potentially tip the scales......

So just a couple days, they probably won't honor it, before Pennsylvania. Close enough so it can't become a media firestorm, but buy's 'em enough time to "win" Pennsylvania
which they probably think is gonna make a case for them to STEAL the nomination in shady backroom handshakes in June when the party is deciding whos gonna run.

Oliver Stone material.

Senator Hillary Clinton is America's Iron Lady and if the critics had one tenth of her resume behind their name de plume they might be qualified to comment on her. However, the time is ripe for a third political party in the United States and the prediction does not include political lunatics such as Nader. America repines for closure of this Presidency due to Bush's hostile environment with policies contradictory to his professed values. His grandiose and arrogance is similar to that of Nader and Obama. The options of John McCain or novice Barak Obama will prove to be the downfall of the Democratic Party. Americans will not elect Obama to be the President of the United States. On the other hand, the Democratic Party will lose their core members due to the horror of watching Pastor Wright, the anti-American sentiments of Mrs. Obama, and the poor judgment of Barak Obama. The inimical environment created by Axelrod and Obama and will not be forgotten, and Obama's assault for the presidency will destroy the Democratic Party.

hillary's campaign managers have a new plan.

beginning immediately, they have devised a new introduction for the former first lady to use;

hillary is instructed to introduce herself to the crowd.

the crowd at large is then prompted to answer to a sign held up with the message, "your name here"

hillary tries it out.

hillary; "im hillary, hillary gump. what is your name?"

crowd; "YOUR NAME HERE!!!"

hillary; "no, no, no... you are supposed to say "YOUR NAME HERE."

crowd; "YOUR NAME HERE!"

hillary; {under her breath} "shmucks..."

hillary; "okay, i'll do all the talking. you just sit there. okay?"

crowd; "OKAY!"

hillary; "i'm hillary, hillary gump."

CLAP! CLAP! CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!

hillary; "no, no, no.. you are supposed to tell me to RUN! now, what do you want me to do?!?"

crowd; RUN FOREST, RUN!!!"

hillary mumbles again to herself; "schmucks.. why do i have to have the uneducated, , the brain dead, and the women over 80 as MY base???? it's not fair.. it's just not fair i tell you..."

and that is how hillary's crack squad thinks she will become the dem nominee!

personally, i think it's a brilliant idea!

who needs florida and michigan when you have hillary gump????

bubba; "hey hillary!"

hillary; "yes?"

bubba; "have you ever been on a real shrimp boat?"

hillary; "no, but i've been on a real big boat."

That doesn't explain why she hasn't yet released her tax returns for the preceding six years that she's he'd public office (2001-2006), unless you're somehow suggesting that she and Bill forgot to file them and are going to file seven years' worth all at once.

Hell, I can get my hands on all my state and federal tax returns for the last decade in ten minutes, and I don't even have a staff of accountants at my beck and call. So what's holding up the process on Hillary's end? Just how much does she have to doctor up? How many reams of press releases does she and Wolfson have to prepare to explain away all that embarrassing income from Graftistan and Korruptistan and the like? How can she be "ready from Day One" when her taxes aren't even ready for release after 14 months???

Clinton Strategist Represents Blackwater

By Patrick Healy

Here's a little known fact about Hillary's Machiavelli Penn. Her policy in Iraq will be Bush-lite. Or maybe not, depending on how many mercs are deployed.

I REALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY AFTER WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH HILLARY THE DNC DOES NOT FORCE HER TO WITHDRAW FROM THE CAMPAIGN!!!
========================================
THE REASON IS NOT WHAT IMPRUDENT (I DO NOT WANT TO USE A STRONGER WORD) SURROGATES AND SUPPORTERS DO OR SAY, EQUALLY MORONICAND OUTRAGEOUS SUPPORTERS ARE ON LINE IN THE CASE OF OBAMA. NEITHER THE DNC NEEDS TO ACT BASING ON ALLEGED RELATIONS WITH INTEREST GROUPS AND THEIR LEGAL OR ILLEGAL LOBBYIST !!

BUT WHAT THE DNC SHOULD CONSIDER IS HER PERSONAL ACTIONS, WITH TWO GLARING EXAMPLES:

THE CLINTON TAX RETURNs FROM 2001 - 2006 ========================================
There is no justifiable reasons on earth why these are retained. They need only be copied !!!
The only reasons remaining are the NOT JUSTIABLE, as trying to hide some sources of their income. IF they are released a few days before the PENN polls, this would not give the analysts enough time to ASSESS AND COMMENT THEM IN TIME. And who knows if there will be really such release, but instaed an excuse for not doing so !!

2) THE INVENTED BOSNIAN STORY AND THE FALSE STATEMENT THAT SHE OPPOSED NAFTA.
====================================== A misstatement is by definition that a story is not recounted accurately, BUT NOT A TOTALLY INVENTED STORY RELEASED TO DOCUMENT HER ALLEGED EXPERIENCE IN THE CASE OF BOSNIA, AND A PLAINLY AND PROVEN FALSE STATEMENT IN THE CASE OF NAFTA.

The gravity of these issues are not the issues themselves, but the willingness to misled and even mock the voters !!!

AND TRYING TO WARM UP THE PREACHER STORY TO DEFUSE THESE FACTS MAKES THE LATTER EVEN MORE OUTRAGEOUS !!

Of course pastor Wright's church is white bashing and hating and Barack practices the same: That is why on page 344 The Audacity of Hope, Barack Obama comes home and finds his daughter Malia in their kitchen playing with little "blonde girl" called Sam.
But let's have Hill transparency on taxes AND religion:
Now where is the interrogation of Hillary's preferred "Christian" discipline: the leaders, the site of worship, snippets of the "worship" words and content, now that we are being manipulated into despising Barack's worship in the Chicago Southside Black Church?

Hillary's "church" is I have read "undercover" and composed of Washington insider powerful wives and is aparently "closed" to ordinary seekers of Christian church affiliations. It is known as "The Family" and terms such as "fascist" float about its indoctrination and the wives of inner circle of "The Family" are republican. An article or book is coming out May publication, I understand, that will tell all about Hillary's "church."

What's your favorite filthy clinton tactic of the past week?

I like the one where Bill, assuming most of those listening to him are not very smart, very subtly imples that Obama is unpatriotic and makes everything messy and complicated because he is half-black, and that McCain (again) would be a better president than the other Democrat (did you know Obama is half-black?)

But it's tough; there's so many gutter-level tactics from the clinton campaign;

I don't know what's worse --- that the Clintons are themselves using these disgusting tactics every ten minutes,

... or that they are cynically and ruthlessly using people whom they know are not as smart as they are ....

Since "the facts" surrounding each of the candidates histories are so obscured by partisan misinformation and hysterical repetition, I am left to make my choice based on other factors.

1. Senator Obama has demonstrated superior managerial skills during this campaign. He has beaten, according to the rules set forth, a candidate with enormous advantage in name recognition and a much-loved ex-president stumping for her. How else do you explain his lead? (and spare me the race card crap). Hillary's campaign has been something of a kluster****.

2. Obama is only tangentially related to the two skeletons found in his closet. The Clinton's have yet to answer regarding their dealings with Dubai and Kazakhstan. At least Obama's skeletons are American.

3. Obama has gotten where he is under his own power. Can you say the same of Hillary.

4. Hillary says I, Obama says we.

5. Obama speaks to people as if they can understand concepts that may require more than 5 or 6 words to articulate. The rest speak to us like kindergartners. I fear he may be overestimating the American electorate, but I hope not.

6. Obama is appealling to the reasonable and thinking political center. I cite the hysterical rantings coming from the fringe right and left as evidence of this.

7. Last but not least, Obama does not come with Bill Clinton as part of the package.

The media is hovering dangerously near a third rail with by the constant attention to the Rev. Wright story. The American public hates to be lied too especially when the public swallows the lie, hook, line and sinker. In the case of Wright's patriotism at some point in time the fact that he helped save the life of President Lyndon Johnson during a medical procedure when he was a cardiopulmonary technician in the Navy after six years in The United States Marines will surface. As far as the story of his trip to Libya with Farrakhan the truth is that Wright and Farrakhan were part of a rescue team led by Jesse Jackson in 1984 which resulted in the freeing of Navy pilot Lt. Ronald Goodman who had been shot down over Lebanon -- a service to the country recognized by then-President Ronald Reagan.

Obscene, the games the Clintons play. They hide millions of donations from Saudi Arabia to Duabi in overseas accounts, probably in their own daughter's company's hedge funds, but we aren't supposed to care where their millions come from or are invested. We are supposed to run tearing our hair at a purchase Obama made of a piece of backyard at fair market value from a political player who never asked him for a personal favor and certainly never got one when his interests were on the line - Obama voted directly against Rezko's interests in a bill that came up.

The Clintons have so many ties now to so many international players, players in oil, in gas, in uranium for pity's sake, but we're not supposed to care. The Clintons never backed an Ethics bill worth a hoot; Obama pushed those bills through in IL and DC and keeps doing so. The Clintons take money from international PACs, Obama doesn't. The Clintons gave Blackwater their first contract, Obama wants the contractors out of the military front lines getting paid tons more than soldiers and able to leave when they want, unaccountable to anyone.

With so many millions coming into their overseas bank accounts from Dubai, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and so on, why would the Clintons pull us out of Iraq? Why did Hillary vote for the Kyle/Lieberman Amendment to make Iraq a staging ground to coral Iran? Can't she or we see that it means we can never leave Iraq? Obama sees it.

Hillary's Iraq plan is very similar to McCain's, not at all like Obama's - she'll just replace the troops with contractors. Check out how much they've donated to her at opensecrets and then tell me how she'll end the reign of the death-dealing war profiteers?

Lots of yearning here for transparency, for sure. Along with financial transparency, spiritual transparency is sought, as numerous posts attest.

Barack Obama's personal faith has been scrutinized, and quite possibly this will be scrutinized further. How now about Hillary Clinton's? It may be in everyone's interest if the dark allegations about her ties to a shadowy "church" are dispelled by exposure to sunlight.

Of course some may hope she gets a pass now so she remains vulnerable later....

I can only imagine this woman commanding the United States Armed Forces for four years. Yes, Clinton's backers; help finish up the mission that cheney/bush and the rest of the gang were not able to complete. By the way, the folks fighting in Irak and Afghanistan would like to change the snipers that they are confronted with with the ones Hilly was facing; that would make life a little easier for these guys.

To davejr99 who wanted to know who Clinton's pastor is... the question is really, who is "The Fellowship" which Clinton has belonged to since 1993. It is very secretive and its membership includes Ashcroft, Brownback and Inhofe, who are very conservative Repulicans. WHAT IS CLINTON DOING SO CLOSELY ALIGNED WITH THEM IN A RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION? I think it is a question the press should ask so we know if her social policies would be different than we assume. And since it is so secretive, she should explain why she joined it. It has had ties to dictators such a Suharto.

aicentre:

Here's the exact quote from Bill Clinton: "I think it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country. And people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues, instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude itself on our politics."

Gen. Merrill "Tony" McPeak (ret.), a co-chair of Obama's campaign, then compared Bill Clinton to Joe McCarthy: "I grew up, I was going to college when Joe McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I've had enough of it,"

Bill Clinton did NOT say Obama was "unpatriotic", "does not love his country" or that he is a "traitor".

Those are the facts.

I cannot tell you how much i love Hills way of thinking. I understand that she is very greasy but so what their are folks out here who are greasy supporters. Americans loves grease at times... we love it especially when we go to Burger King,Arbys,Roy Rogers, and order a Cheeseburger. Too much cheese can hurt your chlosterol level. We have been hurt for 8 years my friend and it has got to stop!!!

There is nothing wrong with having a slick greedy greasy President. Did you watch the Movie Wall Street. Greed does win at any cost. The latest news on Wall street is that it is about to crash. Bears and Stearns almost went 600 feet under until Sam bailed them out. Plenty of Citizens that are hard working need to be bailed out due to greasy people giving us cheese.

Thus, The American people have suffered immensley due to such greed and hypocrisy. It is time for a new dawn. A big time change is needed. No more grease. No more cheese. Let's go with just a healthy carrot stick. We are a great country that will rise again if we have the right leaders to make it happen. It will happen in God we trust. No more grease or cheese.

First you say "there is no way" she can win -- then you mention ONE WAY she can win -- so, which one is it? Hint: here's another way that the super-delegates do NOT have to overturn the will of the people: if Hillary wins every remaining State (and Puerto Rico) by enough to overtake the regular-delegate and/or the popular vote total, the argument would be that she has the momentum and the super-delegates should RESPECT the will of the people.

The Clintons:

The Clintons are still believing in their entitlement to the presidency. I do not know why they do not understand that, that ownership got lost since Super Tuesday...it is too late now. If Clinton had won Five Straight contests, she should have used the media to force Obama out. The Clintons lost 11 contests and are still trying to find some reason to stay in the race?

Hillary is unelectable, lies, and remember: lying is pejury in America.

She is doing everything to damage Obama's good image before accepting a "get out of the way" outcry.

Well these are the last kicks of a dying wild horse.

Please the Washington Post, do not bend to The Clinton's "all knowning" or The Clinton's "most smart" altitude.

In Newhamshire, Bill labelled Obama's ticket as: "This whole thing is the greatest Fairy Tale..." Bill was actually referring to Obama's run for president. In the next few weeks as the issue became red-hot in the media, Bill successfully used the media to bend his controversy. He then said, he meant Obama's Objection to war, not his run for president. No! the later is not what originally meant

Last week in North Carolina, referring to Obama, Clinton said Obama "does not love this country" he is "unpatriotic." Since yesterday the Clinton camp has been working reslessly to deviate attention from that statement. Please, do not buy such dirt.

Correction:

Hillary DIANE Clinton received 288,167 more votes than Barack HUSSEIN Obama in Florida, and 328,151 more in Michigan, for a total of 616,318 -- that closes the gap considerably -- my point above (re: a good argument can be made for her to stay in the race) remains.

There is some pattern here with Hillary and people around her and supporting her:

1)When she was asked to release her tax returns, supporters were posting "where is Obama's tax returns?", now he released it the demand goes on as if they are entitled not to do the same. Why can't you make your lady do the same and then we will have discussion about THEIR TAX RETURNS, NOT JUST OBAMA'S.

2)about polls, they usually say polls do not indicate the reality and they used to dismiss any polls showing Obama ahead, now (I think it was for a good reason)last week Hillary was a bit ahead, everybody was talking about how the polls are indicative including her supporters on the TV channels. Who is Hillary???? and who are her supporters???? looking at Mr. Carville tells me everything, ARROGANCE!!!!!

To be honest with everybody, she doesn't belong to the democratic party nor the republican party. Nobody wants her, period!!!

Aw c'mon, people, the Clintons have nothing to hide. And absolutely nothing in their history would suggest that they do.

Certainly nothing regarding Johnny Chung and illicit campaign money from the PRC. Nor the coffee klatches and Wang Jun. Definitely not the Lincoln bedroom sellouts. Nor illegal donations to Bill's legal defense fund from Yah Lin "Charlie" Trie. Nor any donations provided through Maria Hsia from the Hsi Lai Temple. Nor illicit payments for seats on Ron Brown's "trade missions". Certainly nothing involving John Huang, James Riady and the Lippo Group. Nor illegal donations to HRC from Norman Hsu. And don't even bring up those unusually enormous returns in commodities trading. Nor cushy real estate deals with certain convicted felons. Nor eye-brow raising pardons of fugitives with business connections to the Clintons.

Really people, there's nothing to see here. You trust 'em, dontcha?

Now, go back to your holes and forget all about this "transparency" stuff.

Ahh Clinton supporters....ignorance is bliss, no?

Let's break it down for you one by one;

-Clinton is about 700,000 votes behind in the popular vote.

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/03/12/759757.aspx

-Obama has won almost twice as many states as Clinton.

-Neither Bill or Hillary Clinton have not released their tax returns since leaving the white house. This is in spite of (or probably because of) that fact that there net wealth has ballooned from about 1.75 million up to 50 million in the 8 years since.

-When Clinton ran for senate in NY in 2000, one of her campaign staffers hounded & harrassed her opponent (Rick Lazio) about him not having released his tax returns. Howard Wolfson (Who currently works in the Clinton campaign) was quoted as saying;

"There is no evidence that Mr. Lazio is hiding anything, and no law requires candidates to release their tax returns. But it has become customary in high-profile contests for candidates to do so; many elected officials always do. President and Mrs. Clinton have released their returns since he took office in 1993, and before that, when Mr. Clinton was governor of Arkansas."

http://electopundit.blogspot.com/2008/03/hillary-hounded-rick-lazio-for-not.html

- Finally, after living in a faux-democracy under GWB, doesn't it scare you that a candidate like Clinton is willing & suggesting to overturn the will of 10's of millions of Americans who have voted for the democratic candidates? It's disgusting and very un-democratic!!!

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/03/hillary-wants-t.html

I can't believe Obama's patriotism is questioned by the Clinton's while at the same time she is saying "to hell" with the will of the citizens of this country? We live in a Free & democratic society, and part of democracy is not getting your way when you are not in the majority.

How do you really call yourself "Americans" when you betray democracy because of greed... you gotta live with not getting everything you want. You are not children.

Whatever might be the outcome of election, Senator Obama will probably not have to be concerned about a lack of book offers and speaking engagements. Anyway, keep blogging so that Senator Obama can make millions of dollars, possibly billions of dollars based on the expressions of bloggers and the controversies in the media.

Since Senator Obama's future seems extremely promising (both nationally aand internationally) despite the outcome of the election, it might be beneficial to all, including bloggers, to focus on the real issues such as the depressing economic situation in our country.

Unlike Obama, the average blogger probably does not have the variety of talents that he has to make it through tough times:expertise in constitution law, great orator, brilliant analytical skills, ability to bring people together, etc.

Also, remember, as long as the media can stir up controversy, the more they get to work overtime while we blog our lives away.

A GRAND BARGAIN FOR DEMOCRATIC PARTY UNITY

It is clear, with Politico.com reporting that even Hillary's campaign is coming to the rational conclusion that she has--at best--a ten percent chance of winning (and NYT columnist David Brooks today saying it is actually half that [5 percent]), that uniting the Democratic Party around Barack Obama is imperative.

Here is a solution that allows everyone to take something from the table, which is what it is going to take for the Party to begin the healing process.

A deal should be struck whereby Hillary agrees to withdraw from the race, and Obama agrees to let most of the Florida and Michigan delegations be seated at the convention.

Hillary could then claim a victory of sorts, as making this the "price" of a dignified exit would allow her to say she is putting the Party's prospects in November above her own ambitions.

(Being able to point to getting the questioned delegations seated would allow her to show something very unclintonian--loyalty to others.)

It would also help the Democrats win those two states in the general election.

It requires noblesse oblige from both sides.

Obama clearly has it.

And if Hillary takes the deal, it would do a lot for her restoring the family legacy that this ugly campaign, and especially Bill Clinton's role in it, has so tarnished.

I have been waiting to cast a vote where GWB does not appear on the ballot for a long time. I will be more than a little upset if HRC finds a way to scr-- it up. I don't believe for a minute that she is not an intelligent person and that she would not chose experienced advisors, my concern is her personl judgement has not shown me a reason to entrust her with a country. She knew she had issues in her marriage while her husband was still a Gov., she knew that White water was going to bite her and she has been vetted of more scandals than all the other candidates combined. When I told up how much press she has received in the last 12 years and the negative against the positive the math is not very kind to her.
The other comment that I would like to make is that now that McCain is the nominee, (although she is much more fashionable than HRC), when are we going to hear Mrs. McCain speak at any length, she just stands there dress in tailored clothing with her hair COIFFED. Is there a reason why we have not heard anything about her. It is a package deal and I would like to know if she is capable of public speaking.

FIRST OBAMA HAS TO RELEASE ALL HIS HOUSE PURCHASE DOCUMENTS. HIS DEALINGS WITH SLUMLORD REZKO. OBAMA WILL PROBABLY BE THE NEXT TO BE INDICTED IN THAT CONNECTION. WHY IS OBAMA NOT RELEASING ALL DOCUMENTS RELATED TO HIS PURCHASE OF HIS HOUSE AND THE ADJACEMENT LOT. HOW DID REZKO'S WIFE DONATE $19,000 AND BUY THE ADJACEMENT LOT TO OBAMA'S HOUSE FOR $625,000 WHEN HER INCOME IS $35,000? DOES OBAMA THINK WE ARE ALL DUMB? WHAT IS OBAMA'S CONNECTIONS TO ALL HIS DONORS WHO ARE CONNECTED TO THE MIDDLE EAST?

MEMO TO HILLARY CLINTON: Please, NOW, make a dignified exit from the race that you simply cannot win. The longer you stay in this contest, the more damage you are doing to the almost-inevitable Democratic nominee, Barack Obama. By "fighting" on, you are helping only the Republicans.

MEMO TO JOHN EDWARDS, JOSEPH BIDEN, NANCY PELOSI, AL GORE, AND OTHER DEMOCRATIC SUPERDELEGATES: You must bring all necessary pressure, both publicly and privately, to bear on the two Clintons to ensure Hillary's exit, NOW, from this race. Give the party a chance to unify around Obama and start engaging McCain and other Republican enablers of Cheney, Bush, and Co. We cannot allow this "fight," which is being driven by the Clintons' egos and will-to-power, to destroy the chances of the American people to take back the presidency in 2008 and restore our country to its rightful place on the side of decency and history.

Yes, we may be taking a chance with Obama. So? We took a chance in 1932 with FDR and in 1960 with JFK. It is possible that between now and the convention in August awful things may come to light making it clear that Obama should not be nominated. If that should happen, then of course the superdelegates--and the pledged delegates, too, who are free to vote their consciences if necessary--can choose an alternative nominee. Maybe even Sen. Clinton--if she has already made a dignified and gracious exit from the contest NOW. Endorsing Obama at this point doesn't nominate him. But it does give him the chance to define himself rather than be "defined" by Republicans and racist right-wingers who hate him--and by Clintonistas whose rhetoric and tactics is coming perilously close to right-wing Rovianism/Nixonism/McCarthyism.

To Hillary: In the name of God, GO! The blood of thousands who will die in McCain's wars will ignite will be on your head if you continue to play your nasty, petty games of political ambition. Do something for your country: End your campaign, rally to Obama, and let us togethern save our country.

People should dismantle the Democratic Party and establish another one in its place, made up of people like Richardson who is definitely not afraid to make up his mind in difficult times. Those so called super delegates who have been sitting on the fence too long probably have contributed to this bizarre circus protracted by power obsessed Hillary and her people, by their indecision. If the fate of the party is the dissolution of it in this farce, they (those uncommitted and afraid super delegates) can certainly remember their historic place in it. Hillary and Bill know how afraid these people are of them and they have been exploiting this fear 200 %!

Hillary admits errors? Right, when she is caught by television footage of her meeting with little girls at the Bosnia airport when she claimed she was dodging bullets. She never admits she lied until she is caught red-handed.

What amazes me is the viciousness of the anti-Obama screeds. They persist, it seems, in trying to sound like schoolyard bullies. Address the issues, for heaven sakes and leave the gutter to the experts.

Obama needs to tell us about his dealings with Tony Rezko and the Iraqi billionaire.
how deep is he into that corruption?

He needs to tell all americans about who has promised what. Who is backing him and what corporations he approached and offered himself to be their 'man'. We now know The Analysis corp, Global Strategies, and Stanley Inc are supporters of Obama so what will Obama do for them? hmmmm

By now, any HONEST and FAIR MINDED citizen should know that much of the smear campaign focused against Jeremiah Wright regarding the relationship with Barack Obama is much ado about nothing.

After all, keep in mind, Jeremiah Wright was good enough to be invited to the White House to serve Bill Clinton during his troubling time of need.

Wright is no more a racist than Geraldine Ferraro. Just because one mentions "race and things racial" doesn't make them or their targets racist(s).

For an eye opening and interesting read, try viewing NPR's "Understanding Jeremiah Wright"

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=88941182

Also, take some time and view the preceding message during Wright's sermons, and recognize that the MSM snippets that are being looped on TV FAIL to give one an accurate understanding of the full message and the TRUE person and his church.

Hilary is alright with me. It's great to see that she is at the top of her game.
Nice to see she admits to her "misspoke". Can you just imagine what would of happended if Obama "misspoked" or even McCain for that fact. It is ok for a woman to misspoke about being under fire, etc. Did she msspoke about "whitewater, nafta, and the white house furniture, and her tax returns. Wow what a list of miss's. Can she really be the one to get a call at 3am and continue to mis the mark? No,this is really too much for me to understand. Just save face and step aside. Sleep deprivation is so weak of an excuse. Keep on making excuses for the misses. This is very embarrassing to say the least for the democrats.

Didn't Hillary and Bill host and invite Rev. Billy Graham to the White House on a number of occasions...the same Rev. Graham who uttered anti-semetic comments over and over to Nixon? And she attacks Obama over Reverend Wright....People in glass houses...do not belong in the White House.

The Obamistas do not get it. OBAMA is toast. His bullying tactics will only make matters worse. His cult like following need to know he can't win thanks to his friend the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Oh, how about Rezko the slum lord who was leaving his tenants literally cold because of his greediness and Obama's.

Litsen guys. We should really question the party leaders of the Dem party now. Why are they silent in the face of this Clinton circus? Aren't Michigan and Florida shenanigans enough, now that Hillary is suggesting that the 'pledged' delegates are not 'pledged' after all? Her cute choice word 'misspoke' to cover the realities of lies, distortions and more lies is a just little too much for some people who had enough of those two Clintons and yet it seems we are in for a treat with this very long re-play of the Clinton circus, until everybody is forced to go to the convention totally bloodied. Great leadership is about courage in difficult times and I tell you that is one thing the Dem party lacks. They are lucky to have Obama among their midst but are slow to recognise his values. If McCain clinches the election in November, the Dem party would have throughly deserved it.

It is much better to through unsupported non facts about as the CBS story does.

Senator Clinton is amazing. She single-handedly created S-CHIP; supported and rejected NAFTA simultaneously; voted for authrorization to bomb Iraq and hoped that they wouldn't be bombed; determined that transparency has many definitions, some of which are just above the heads of average Americans; and has graciously allowed herself, the only person qualified to lead the nation, to run for the democratic nomination. Aren't we a lucky bunch?

Who wants a President who would subject their daughter to sniper fire? I know of no mother in the world who would voluntarily let their kid run through a kill zone.

Oh, wait...she was lying...which is good, cuz maybe she wouldn't have let her daughter into a sniper's field for political purposes....

Hillary admits, apologizes for mistakes and errors. Obama we have not gotten one such statement. No apology no admission of error. We get lie after lie. First comes the charming side step ambiguous answer then comes the soft why you attacking me so unfairly then you get the reasonable excuse and finally we have to live with his aggressive defensive justification that he in some way is right. NO Obama, Change church membership(not faith) there is more then one United Church of Christ in Chicago with a pastor! Choose people of America or Farrakhan, Wright, Rezko, McCulkin. As a private citizen you can have both but as President of the United States of all peoples in this country you can't! THANK YOU FOR LETTING US KNOW YOUR CHOICE BEFORE DENVER! NOBAMA!

Senator Obama's openness and willingness to readily disclose his income tax statements should encourage all to become more transparent and honest.

Obama's transparency in dealing with issues is new and refreshing. I believe that his faith in God, love for country, dedication to family values, life experiences and respect for others propelled him to higher grounds morally, spiritually, psychologically and politically.

Not only is Senator Obama intelligent and articulate, his vocabulary and deliberation probably surpasses that of the average blogger.

With Obama as President, we all will have to keep a dictionary nearby as he gives his Inauguration and State of the Union speeches. (also his speeches could be used to study for SAT, ACT exams).

I think Americans will be proud to have a USA president with such intellect.

I think internationally leaders from Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, North America and Austrailia will look forward to meeting with a USA president who actually think deeply about issues. Likely, world leaders will be inclined to make more preparations than ever before to meet with a USA president. I think discussions with Obama will challenge leaders intellectually and politically.

Whatever the outcome of the race, I can imagine Obama will have thousands of offers (both nationally and internationally) for speaking engagements, book deals, talk show host positions in radio/tv, guest columnists, etc for years to come.

Undoubtedly, these offers will request that Obama give insight, analysis, critic and plausibe/possible solutions to a myriad of issues: including spiritual matters, family values, media matters, racial conflicts, etc.

It's just not true that ALL Clinton supporters are racists,

... not true at all, that's just some of that talk going around that, as Bill says, we wouldn't have if it was Clinton vs. McCain in Novemeber: a nice, uncomplicated , all-white election. Plus we would know that the nominees are patriots who love their country.

... ok, 40% of them are, maybe, but no more than that.

Ok, maybe it's more like 50%.

But out of that 50%, half of them are in total denial about it --- so does that really count ?

I love how Clinton's camp responds by avoiding their complete lack of transparency and pointing to Obama's Rezko ties. Obama was brave enough to release his tax returns that show his contributions to the controversial church of Rev. Wright, so what are the Clinton's hiding???
I think a lot of democrats are offended with the Clinton's sense of entitlement coupled with underhanded politics. I've always been proud of my party, but they have seriously scared me this primary season.

DISPATCHES FROM THE GROUND WAR ...

THE PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE REVIEW HAS AN INTERVIEW WITH "FULL METAL JACKET" HILLARY CLINTON IN WHICH SHE BLAMES "SLEEP DEPRIVATION" FOR HER GROSS FABRICATION OF HAVING BRAVED SNIPER FIRE IN BOSNIA.

IF SHE TENDS TO VISIONS OF GRANDEUR AND OTHER DELUSION IN TIMES OF CRISIS, WHEN NO ONE SLEEPS, SHOULD SHE BE ELECTED PRESIDENT?

(REMEMBER THE CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS LASTED 13 DAYS.)...

HERE IS THE RELEVANT PASSAGE FROM THE TRIBUNE REVIEW ARTICLE...

On saying last week that she landed under sniper fire during a trip to Bosnia in 1996, when she was first lady:

"I was sleep-deprived, and I misspoke."

Hillary is trying to destroy Obama's chances .vs. McCain so she can run an "I told you so" campaign in 2012. She did not see combat in Bosnia just like she refuses to come clean with her taxes now. She thinks she's smarter than everyone else; memo to Hillary: You're not. Your 2012 chances diminish by the day.

Hillary's unwillingness to get out of the Democratic race is the same escalation of commitment to a failing cause that George Bush has shown in Iraq. What can we expect when Hillary has to run Iraq policy if she is elected? Bush! McCain is just as dug in on this policy as Hillary. Bill Clinton's judgment about their similarities was right, on, target.

It's three a.m. and the telephone rings in the White House.

And rings.

And rings.

Hillary doesn't hear it, having just fallen into an exhausted sleep some minutes before, after tossing and turning for hours while she relived, again and again, those tense moments of dodging sniper fire in Bosnia.

Bill might have answered it, but he's slipped the Secret Service, again, and no one seems to know where he is ...

The phone grows silent.

It's a hell of a call, if you care about your country, at all.
