Clinton: America Needs Leader Who Won't 'Bend' or 'Break'

Updated 7:29 p.m.
By Perry Bacon Jr.
HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Is Hillary Clinton saying Barack Obama isn't tough enough to be president?

In a speech tonight in Beaver County, outside of Pittsburgh, Clinton said Democrats needed a candidate who doesn't "break when the attacks start flying."

"We don't know what new problems the next President will face. But one thing we do know, and know with certainty, is that strength matters in a President -- and in a candidate for President," she told the Beaver County Democratic Committee banquet.

"We need a candidate and a President who will stand strong -- who will not waver, who will not bend with the winds of the moment or break when the attacks start flying."

Clinton's comments came a day after she started running a negative ad against Obama, slamming him for voting for a 2005 energy bill that President Bush advocated. Clinton will spend Friday in Pennsylvania, as well, before heading Saturday to Indiana, another must-win state for Clinton.

It is amazing to me that Mrs. Clinton whom over a year ago thought she would be literally handed over the democratic nomination and has had so much trouble running a campaign. Is running around saying she is the most electable. Below are some reasons why. Please feel free to pass along these thoughts and ideas to those that you think you need to.

1. By the fact that her opponent has taken the high road and chosen not to attack her as frequently as he could is clear indication as to why she is less electable. But let's explore some other way she is less electable that no one is talking about.

If you can't run an effective campaign how can you run a country?

2. As far as the campaign goes she has had to fire multiple key staffers and retool her image, her message and herself at least a dozen times. Once again, if you can't run an effective campaign how can you run a country?

3. How do you let some who is as unknown as Barrack Obama come into a race that you were supposed to win hands down and beat you by delivering a more effective message?

4. So what are we too expect when things get hard as a president you will come on and address the nation and cry that you are not being treated correctly by the press or by other countries.

There a reason why the press coverage is the way it is. Since you thought you were entitled to this and were proven wrong you don't know ho to react.

5. The fact that you have to criticize and minimize everything your opponent has done correctly. He has done everything that you could not do. Your only chance to win is by going negative. What type of message does that send to the American people?

6. You are willing to "LIE" to get the job. The news media and your husband can sugar coat it if they want to but a "LIE" is a "LIE" no matter how you slice it.

7. ONCE AGAIN HILLARY IF YOU CAN'T RUN AN EFFECTIVE CAMPAIGN HOW CAN YOU RUN THE COUNTRY?

Obama promises change, something any historian or anyone who has been around for a while has heard over and over in presidential candidates. The reality is that few have kept that promise - and Obama will be no different. He is young and energetic, which appeals to many people... but how EXACTLY is he going to change things? I have yet to hear these details on most of the issues. Hillary has both a workable plan and the experience to give Americans the changes that we need when it comes to health care and the economy. Yes, Hillary is a politician and everyone trying to question accordingly (as if one needs to be a saint to get this job). WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! This is Washington, not Disney Land! Presidents who have not had a lot of experience prior tend to get less accomplished while in office. You need someone in the Oval Office (especially now) who will be strong and not controlled by the powers that be in Washington. I like Obama, but Hillary Clinton will be the best candidate to stand strong against John McCain and the best president.

After the disgraceful comments about Pennsylvanians Obama should hang his head in shame and apologize before it's too late. What makes His Lordship the media darling so sure that poverty makes people turn into gun-toting religious racist fanatics? Could it be his MARXIST-ISLAMIST real beliefs that will destroy whatever credibility America has left? He is the ultra-Liberal version of that other ignoramus and foreign policy flunkie, GWB. Obama's active campaigning on behalf of the Islamist-marxist sharia-law advocate Cousin in Kenya has already alienated the presiden there who wants Obama to quite writing speeches and stop interfering! What a spectable, from kindergarten to Gr. 1 in foreign policy experience. Obmama should drop out now--and APOLOGIZE TO PENNSYLVANIANS.

TO OBAMA

Take your Obamyopics and get out of Pennsylvania cause they're just praying in Churches and holding their guns, turning racist and hunting down anybody they can get hold of! Isn't this exactly what your condescending, arrogant version of reality says about these rednecks you love to hate. This time, Obama, you were caught on tape and your Hate and Racism are obvious to all, not just typical white persons...Go to the Senate and stay there, or like sombedy suggested, go to Kenya and help out your cousin Odinga bring back Sharia law. You tried once already and I understand the President in Kenya wants you to keep your nose out of their business. So, apply for the Presidnet's Job in Kenya. That should suit you just fine, Obambi, and then women will be covered up and you sure as hell won't have Hillary to call your bluffs and expose your shameful naivette and OBAMYOPIA!

Lizie above thinks "she wants McCain to be President". Well, not exactly, liz.

This is what Sen. JOHN MCCAIN SAID ABOUT HILLARY in Bahgdad 2005 interviewed by Tim Russert, Meet the Press, asked whether Hillary would make a good president:

"I AM SURE....I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT SEN. HILLARY CLINTON WILL MAKE A GOOD PRESIDENT"---Sen.John McCain.

Hope Obama hears this loud and clear, and stops attacking middle-america and blame use his Marxist theory that people turn to religion and racism because they're broke! What a fool...

So Obama thinks that Pennsylvanians turn to religion, Free trade, racism and guns because they lose their jobs?

Obama is an ignorant, arrogant, condescending bimbo who should be chased out of Pennsylvania together with his liberal extremists and big nuclear interests supporting His Hopeness.

OBAMA'S IGNORANT ARROGANT ANTI-AMERICAN REMARKS SHOW HIS REAL AGENDA.

OBAMA'S OWN WORDS HAVE BETRAYED HIM!!

Posted by: pat | April 12, 2008 11:55 AM | Report abuse

Obamyopia is a dangerous affliction that renders its victims blind to reality. Obama is ruled by big interestest. He's in the pockets of the Nuclear Lobby-NBC,MSNBC,CBS are all owned by GE and WESTINGHOUSE. Obama voted, yes, in favour of NUCLEAR interests with BUSH-CHENEY!

Obama's far more dangerous than McCain! He is the extreme ultra-Liberal version of Bush. And his naivette and stupidity in foreign affairs allowed him to campaign for his cousin Odinga, opposition Leader in Kenya, who promised SHARIA LAW if elected. Thank to Allah he lost, and riots by his gang (supported by Obama and Dick Morris back in November) burned 50 churches and 700 injured/raped.

President of Kenya told Obama to stay out of his country's affairs! OBama had asked Condi Rice for her ok to write (what else?) a SPEECH FOR KENYA TO SUPPORT OBAMA'S COUSIN ODINGA, TO BRING SHARIA LAW!

And this is the man who wants to be President of what country? Put your kook-aid down and start thinking before it's too late. Better Hillary than this foreign national who's flunk his Foreign Policy 101 together with Bush. Going from Worse to Bad, from Bush to Obama, is a recipe for international disaster!

You, people who blindly support Obama, listen to me. Hillary Clinton will definitely be the next President of the United States of America. Why, simply because it's WRIITEN. I'm not an American, and not living in America either, but I very much deplore the way some of the American people, and especially some in the American media, who are trying to twist her efforts, to smear her character, simply because she is a woman of substance. I repeat : it's WRITTEN that the majority of the American people will choose Hillary Clinton. Mark my words.

I have never heard Hillary slam Obama. She brings up legitimate issues. Me, I'm afraid I would bring up the racist, anti-American (reverend?) Wright and his not so proud to be an American wife unless she can live in my White House. I pray to God she doesn't live in my White House and Rev. Wright doesn't, either. These, among the lies Obama tells, would be what I would bring up. Hillary tries not to split the party, but Obama has all his henchmen (so called political bigwig supporters like Richardson and that ranting, raving rep in South Carolina) do it for him while he just nods his assent. Doesn't anybody watch? You don't vote for someone because he is black as the Rep of Wash DC said she is doing and many of the black reps and so called super delegages have said they are doing. You try to elect the best candidate. We may never get the "best" candidate so we elect the better candidate which is Hillary.

Telling the truth about a person's vote is not slamming. Especially after that person lies about his voting record and/or takes credit for the bills his supporters did.

Hillary is a strong woman and a good woman. The media needs to stop being so misogynistic.

AREN'T YOU SICK AND TIRED OF CNN AND MSNBC?

Now let see, let me tell you the network that I like, because they judge Senator Clinton on the policies, the ability to lead, STRENGTH of leadership, the experience...

I will name now the network that has been fair to Hillary and has stated the facts. A network which is neither bias towards obama, like covering his grandiloquent speeches in response to the controversy around him instead of adressing the controversy itself.

Let me think, there is a network out there, which is fair to Clinton and does not belittle her, patronize her, a network which doesn't bring up and empasizes whatever misstatement she made about Boznia for instance, while snipers were not at the airport when she arrived to support the troops in Bosnia, but they were in the mountains all around. The local authorities had to boost up security tremendously.

Nobody said, wow, here is a first lady with a full schedule, serving her country, and in addition, she chooses to go in person to support the troops!!
There WAS danger to the trip.

I am really trying to figure out, here, which network does not come from mysoginy, pushing their candidate; as Fox loves McCain, and CNN and MSNBC love bo.

Well, is there a network out there without special interest with bo or McCain? A network which does its Goddarn job by speaking the truth and informing the people of America? Well, Oh My God, I can't think of any!

It is amazing that Clinton has gotten the support that she gets from voters, despite the fire she's been under.
I'll tell ya, the snipers are out there: There are called CNN, MSNBC and Fox. And shame on you CNN and MSNBC, because if Clinton is the nominee you will have to stick your feet out of your filthy mouths when the Republican start using your dirty tricks against her in November.
At least we know where Republican Fox stands. They beat on both Clinton and bo.

By the way Senator McCain, give Senator Clinton a call, I'm sure that she'll kindly explain to you the difference between the Sunnis, the Shiites and the Kurds.
No, Senator McCain I did not say: "It's so sunny, is that a kite or a bird? "... Never mind!

Colonel Ray , I agreed with your strategy regarding what Hillary needs to do in order to win this race. Her allegiance is to the country as oppose to the party.

Won't bend or break? Sounds like McCain, but I prefer Hillary. McCain is tough. Hillary has more balls than Obama. I know he has problems being tough on voting consequences. How can someone tough vote present 130 times.
Clinton has had to fight for years against everybody. That is toughness, I can't think of one instance where Obama is tough.
Posted by: Chief | April 10, 2008 7:55 PM
===========================================
Dear Chief,
I grew up in a tough neighborhood in south L.A. County. Eventually I figured out that a lot of the people who were adept at fighting *had* to be, because it was part of how they related to the world; they essentially didn't "play well with others." Hillary's emphasis on fighting -- like Edwards's -- may make her tough but a lousy candidate for the West Wing ... unless you think partisan fighting is the best way to run the country.

I prefer someone who can motivate people from point A to point B without a brawl, through persuasion and compromise, and in Illinois Obama showed he could do that even against all odds (see, for example, "In Illinois, Obama Proved Pragmatic and Shrewd," NY Times at:
http://www.nytimes.com/glogin?URI=http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/30/us/politics/30obama.html&OQ=_rQ3D1Q26nQ3DTopQ2FReferenceQ2FTimesQ2520TopicsQ2FPeopleQ2FSQ2FScott,Q2520Janny&OP=5d9a124dQ2FBQ3Au!BalEfQ25llTQ5EBQ5EhhJBhJBRhBQ2BfB4lt)T)EfBRhl!N5NQ5CZT5t

As to Obama: Obama -- and the rest of the minority Democrats in the Illinois Senate -- voted "present" many times *as a bloc* to protest Republican actions or initiatives; in Illinois's legislature it's also common to vote "present" to express disagreement with a particular amendment or part of a bill that a member thinks is objectionable (in Illinois, "such a vote is a strategy, a way to force the majority party to negotiate or to protest parts of a bill," wrote CNN's Dan Lothian in a story posted on CNN on March 7, 2008).

The Chicago Tribune reviewed Obama's voting record and found roughly 10 bills -- out of about 4,000 he voted on -- in which Obama's motive for voting wasn't clear or that did not recall or explain.

You know who has the audacity of hope, it is Clinton. Does Bill and Hillary hope that people believe that the world has forgotten their scandals and do not has suspicions about donors to the Clinton Presidential Library?

Clinton people keep rehashing the Rev. Wright controversy to superdelegates. Hello, it was his pastor and not him who made the remarks. This is what people who for whatever reason dislike Obama are not willing to acknowledge. The Republicans are not bringing up the Clinton's past yet, because Obama is looking more and more like the democratic nominee. But if Clinton does face McCain the republicans are going to force her into non public life forever. I have personally heard Republicans say they want to face Clinton because of her baggage. Clinton is the least likely electable candidate of the three. The superdelegates are intelligent people, that is why they have been entrusted with this awesome responsibility. They probably like everyone else know who is more vunerable to Republicans' attacks.

Anyone wonder why Al Gore(Clinton's Vice President)has not endorse Clinton and from what I have heard did not actively seek Bill's input in his 2000 campaign, makes you think.

Chief, correction about Obama lies..not 57 but 68 and counting. Not only did the blogger stated all the lies, but gave references. I will vote for Hillary or Obama, but I will not be blind to think one is better than the other. Obama is a politiican just like Hillary, but he may be more convincing because it appears as though he has duped more people. Asked yourself the question, who will be better elected in the fall.

Obama who lots of people thinks he secretly anti-patriot and surround himself with terrorist as friends (Rezko, Ayers, others) or Hillary Clinton who has been involved with scandal after scandal, was part of a great economy during the 90s and will not bend or break when the Republican machine comes after her.

Why has the media given such meager coverage to Senator Obama's "misspeak" regarding his story that President John F. Kennedy financially sponsored his father's trip from Kenya and his father's subsequent Harvard education, which resulted in his birth to a Kansan white woman, his education, and present political status? This story has been completely repudiated because President Kennedy's contribution to the Kenyan young people who came here for educational purposes was made a full year AFTER Senator Obama's father arrived in the USA. On the other hand, there has been non-ending negative coverage of Senator Clinton's misspeak about her trip to Bosnia.

Why haven't we heard more about Mr. Resko lately? Where are the media Resko questions about the house and land purchases made by Senator and Michelle Obama?

Why is recent media coverage of Michelle Obama non-existent? (Perhaps they, or the Senator Obama campaign wizards, wish to avert ANOTHER faux pas?)

Why are media individuals reminding us of Monica Lewinsky, Whitewater, an unfortunate suicide, etc., etc.?

Apparently, our supposedly intelligent, analytical, non-biased news persons are not persuaded by the results of particularly expensive (millions of taxpayer dollars) and ruthlessly vindictive investigations of President and Mrs. Clinton, initiated by the Republican Party, and which found them absolutely innocent of illegal acts of ANY kind. If anyone is stupid enough to believe that the Republican Party finally stopped these investigations when they could have, instead, indicted and jailed President and Mrs. Clinton, they belong in padded cells. Think about it.

Why are individual media people asking Senator Clinton to step down and allow the media-anointed one to continue his royal romp to the Oval Office? This reminds me, excruciatingly, of the same media frenzy for George W. Bush. AND look what that got us!

As American citizens, TV/Radio hosts, and pundits are entitled to their own, private, opinions of every stripe. They, should not, however, feel they're entitled to use their positions to inflict the awesome power of the MEDIA to manipulate the listening public to THEIR thinking. The Media should do their best to bring to the public facts and events which they've fully investigated and believe to be true. They should keep their own opinions to themselves. Allow us, please, to arrive at our own conclusions.

After reading the unbelievably senseless, callous, rabid commentary of the anti-Senator Clinton crowd, I know that the media brainwashing has had a successful result. I no longer trust the majority of our citizens to vote intelligently for our common good. I wish it weren't so.

How can a puppet like Obama stand strong - puppets don't have backbones!

Mr. Obama has so many DC Establishment Democrats up his shirt, and corporate dollars in his pockets - he'll never be his own man.

We need a strong President and one who has articulate answers and won't have to call some puppeteer to find out what to say or who to ask when his campaign isn't there to call them up.

Mr. Obama lies. He lied about NAFTA wink-wink when there was a meeting memo RIGHT THERE. He lied about Rezko money - first 26K and now (since it can be discovered) he's up to 276,000 - a quarter million. He lied about sitting in a rabid racist church for twenty years and not hearing a bad word (so careful to never identify what he heard and didn't hear). He lied about Afghanistan - bragging on the early "road to change" that he was on the oversight committee - then we find he's done not a thing. He lied about his years in Illinois - where his 3 year "entry level" job has become his "community service work". He lies about corporate donations - he has former big Oil Executives "bundling" money for him. He lies about lobbiests not being in his campaing - major former lobbiests are in his campaign. Obama lied when he used the voice, words and speech of Deval Patrick. He Xeroxes Hillary's policies and tweeks them - then calls thim his. I'm sure he loved that Xerox machine in college. Let's see the transcripts. He REFUSES to release them. Mr. Obama arrived at this job interview with no resume, no experience, just money and friends. Mr. Obama fights tooth and nail to deny Americans their voting rights in Michigan and Florida - thugs. He's a Constitutional Law major? I don't think he did the work. Usual. Mr. Obama is NOTHING DIFFERENT. The only thing he changes are his answers when he gets caught lying.

Here is Mr. Obama's online resumes - enjoy!

Now I say that because, what really has mattered is that even then she was interested in our troops. And I think she was the first first lady since Eleanor Roosevelt to go into a combat zone. And you woulda thought, you know, that she'd robbed a bank the way they carried on about this. And some of them when they're 60 they'll forget something when they're tired at 11:00 at night, too.

This is a dangerous line of attack for Clinton, because, according to her logic, she "bent" and "broke" when authorizing Bush's misguided Iraq adventure. I wouldn't criticize Obama too harshly for an energy bill vote in 2005 lest we be reminded that she allowed herself to be "duped" by a dope into invading Iraq. That's leadership.

NEO-CONS FOR HILLARY ! ! !

Pretend that you're a Democrat (Hillary supporter)

Smear Obama with any of the following:

1. He's a Muslim
2. He's not Black enough
3. He's not White enough
4. He's not patriotic
5. He's a racist

note: never address any "issues", instead smear him with any association: his pastor, someone who endorses him, his wife, his father, etc. always make racist commments (i.e. compare him to Jim Jones), put his middle name in capital letters...and MOST IMPORTANT repeat it over and over (check FoxNews for latest smear)

remember: Americans are stupid! (look how we got them in the Iraq war!)

if you repeat anything enough, they'll believe it.

then

SAY IF OBAMA IS NOMINATED, YOU WON'T VOTE DEMOCRATIC IN NOVEMBER

* note: this is generally true, but if Hillary is nominated, it doesn't matter who gets elected...you can vote for whomever you want....McCain is slightly better, but both are in our lobby's pocket, i.e. both Clinton and McCain will put America in our WARS

THE NEOCON LOBBY OWNS BOTH MCCAIN AND HILLARY.

but not Obama

WE MUST STOP OBAMA !

We need a Candidate like Barack who can "stand steady in the Eye of the Storm" who will not resort to a Tonya Harding to get the upperhand of his opponent!.

Below is an excert of an article from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Opinion section of April 8, 2008, written by Ann Rosen Spector, a psychologist, who wanted to vote for Hillary but will now be voting for Barack.

Excerpt: "You were blindsided by Barack Obama - and felt he needed more seasoning, that it wasn't "his turn." And I stayed with you, rooted for you (even though I've admired Obama for four years). Perhaps I could have continued to hold on, if only you'd stayed on the moral high ground and told the truth.

I don't expect politicians to deliver on all their initiatives. You are a policy wonk, in a way that - even with all my education - I'm not. I don't expect to ever read or understand every detail in your health-care plan. But I'm almost as old as you, and I know that initiatives don't necessarily translate into law, that politicians have to cut deals or they will get nothing done. I thought it was unfair that likability was considered so much more important in a president than brains. Perhaps I'd enjoy a barbecue at the ranch with President Bush, but what would we talk about? I need someone who can, at least occasionally, use three-syllable words accurately. To a great extent, I have to vote for the person of greater integrity, who will try to do the right thing most of the time - and I've lost faith in you. You finally lost me at Bosnia. Your claim to have been there during active hostilities has been roundly disproved, and your explanation that you misspoke or were too tired is, at best, lame. And I'm sad. I wanted you to be what I think is the best part of you. But, perhaps even more than that, I don't want John McCain. Don't get me wrong, I wish he (or anyone) had beaten Bush in 2000. But after eight years of ineptitude, lack of moral rectitude and incompetence, I can't think of any reason that a Republican who has cuddled often enough with the Bush administration should be allowed to continue its missteps. I will cast my vote in the primary for Obama, and hope that, while not perfect, he can unite the red and the blue into a purple nation. I tried, Hillary. I just wish you had fulfilled your incredible potential. *

Do we want the young people to chose our president the same way they chose their rock stars? They have chosen rock stars that have no credentials and most end up like Britney Spears. Now they want to chose Obama that has no experience in anything, and has a scary past. They do not want you to look closly at Obama.

By the way, The Washington Post does not want to look closly at Obama either. Remember, The Washington Post backed the war in Iraq when Bush initally proposed the war.

HE WILL NOT HAVE A CHANCE AGAIN!!!

We have just had 7 years of the Bush/Cheney Administration (and do not forget Rumsfeld), filled with "leaders" who have refused to bend or break, even in the face of their own incompetence....

No thanks, I actually like a leader who realizes that occsionally they might be wrong...

We do not want someone who voted in favour of invading Iraq because it was then the popular thing (anti-Sadam act) to do and now oppose the war for political expediency as it turned unpopular.

You certainly typify the "bend and break" character! Therefore, you are definitely NOT the right person to be the next president of the United States.

A Strategic Game Plan for Senator Clinton to Reach the Presidency.
By Colonel Ray

Madam Senator, Hillary R. Clinton:

As a retired Army Colonel, patriotic American and political scholar, I am notifying you that the next 90 days will change this country forever.

Senator Clinton, I am a loyal supporter and have actively contributed and campaigned for you the last few months. You're the best candidate for the presidency by a wide margin.

Do not let Senator Obama win this thing through "fake" caucuses and race related vote surges.

I am asking a favor, no actually demanding a favor. I implore you to take the gloves off during the next 90 days against your opponent, Senator Obama. I am not asking you to say anything that is not true, or anything that is directly racial, religious or gender related. I am asking that you step up your campaign by a several notches.

Here are some suggestions from a "supporter":

You need to give at least three major speeches. The topics need to be the economy and the second needs to be international relations and the third needs to be about character. You need to lay out your game plan but you also MUST hammer your opponent. In the last month you have let your opponent regain momentum, why?

You answered the questions on your character about the Bosnia trip very, very weak. Quit hiding and making simple comments and get out front. You need to continue asking, why are the "good ole boys" scared of a woman?

You let Obama give a prime time speech about race, and you have not demanded equal time to give a speech about gender?

You let the media hammer your husband, yet you do not go after Obama's wife who has said disgusting things about race, and about the United States. Senator Clinton, your opponents have smeared your husband, a former President, and smeared your daughter. It is time to take the gloves off.

You need to ask why Senator Obama's church allowed a pro Hamas article to appear in a newsletter in a Christian church in the United States. Why does Obama still belong to this church?

The controversy over Rev. Wright is the achilles heel for Obama, yet you stayed in the background. A very serious mistake. Wright, Meeks, Farrakhan, The New Black Panther Party, Hamas, MoveOn.Org, William Ayers, are all very anti-American persons or organizations, and they all support your opponent. It is time to ask some hard questions of Senator Obama: Do you believe in Communism as a form a government? Do you believe that Hamas has a place at the negotiating table? Would you have negotiated with Saddam Hussein? Senator Obama, do you believe Sharia Law has any place what-so-ever in The United States of America?

You need to demand Obama's records from his days in the Illinois legislature. Now that you have released your income tax returns, you need to demand that Obama release his documents regarding his house purchase and all fundraising documents with the name Rezko on them. You need to use the name Rezko so often that it will seem Obama and him are related.

You need to discuss "full term abortion". Ninety Percent of the United States populace, including pro-choice believers DO NOT support aborting full term healthy babies. Obama does and has actually said so publicly. When I told an Obama supporter this recently they were aghast.

You need to question Obama's patriotism with a full frontal assault. You need to hammer his Iraq flip flops, and ask point blank if he will protect America and the free-world or if he will "wimp out".

You need to have your husband explain the caucus system over and over, and start interviewing people about the dirty tactics that Obama has used in every caucus, including Iowa's fake voters.

You need to ask how Obama's wife's employer showed up on his "earmarks" list. Note, Senator you let them hammer you and your husband for years over the Whitewater garbage, and yet Michelle Obama gets a $200,000 pay raise for a job that DOES NOT pay that much and you say nothing about it? By the way is she still collecting her pay check while not working? Are there any federal funds involved? Wake up and smell the coffee here Senator Clinton.

You need to ask if Senator Obama is a talker or a doer? He has not had one committee meeting to discuss the war in Afghanistan, while being the chairmen of the committee responsible for same? Can he show up for work and do the people's business, support the troops, support the war on terrorism or can he only give speeches?

You need to make a clear offer to John Edwards to be your running mate. Senator Edwards, you need to do the right thing and save the Democratic Party from Obama. This one action alone would turn this election around immediately. If you can make this deal, announce it now, not later. Forget doing it at the convention, remember, there are NO RULES anymore.

You need to have a couple rallies in Michigan and Florida and DEMAND that those votes count and count at the percentages that they voted. When asked why you agreed to the "rules" your answer is that you had no choice, and the voters in Florida and Michigan made their choice and voted on the day they were told too as required by the laws of those states. Of course make note of the fact that the "boys" pulled their names off the ballot in Michigan at the last minute. Also point out that Iowa and New Hampshire were allowed to move their primaries to earlier dates, but Florida and Michigan were not and demand to know why?

Senator Clinton do you want to win this thing or not? If you do not take the gloves off and expose Obama as the weak, unpatriotic, selfish, arrogant person he is, and let him possibly become President, I and the American people will never forgive you.

I want you to do anything it takes to stop Obama or me and many, many loyal democrats will be forced to vote for Sen. McCain, who is not a bad guy, but is too close to the current administration that has done more damage in 8 years that anyone could have imagined.

Please consider these "nuclear options":

- Conduct a scorched earth anti-Obama campaign as noted above. The truth is the truth, is the truth.
- File federal suits to demand the seating of the Michigan and Florida delegates.
- Howard Dean is not your friend, but clearly your enemy. Treat him as such. Ask him on national television why Florida and Michigan cannot decide the dates of their state primaries?
- As last ditch options, consider a third party race. You would keep your base, and pull some of McCain's. With a good VP choice you could actually challenge for the Presidency. My analysis says in a third party race, you easily could win, New York, California, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, Arkansas, and likely win Ohio, Penn, and some others. You would even be competitive in Texas.
- If all else fails, push for a draft ticket of Al Gore / Hillary Clinton. Gore gets 4 years and then you run again.

Ma'am, your loyalty is to the country, not the party.

MILLIONS of people around the world (including the U.S.) protested against invading Iraq.

The pope protested againt the invading Iraq.

In every major city in the world, several millions of people protested against invading Iraq.

Yet, Hillary voted to invade Iraq

there is not excuse

She knew what she was doing.

Now more than a million people are dead. More than 4,000 U.S. soldiers have been killed and many, many more are horribly wounded. Because of this war, the U.S. is bankrupt.

Clinton saying she's sorry isn't enough

I notice that Chelsea isn't fighing in Iraq

This is the same Hillary Clinton who voted for the use of military force in Iraq without, by her own admission, reading the NEI. I have never suggested that Hillary Clinton is not a hard worker or that she is not intelligent. My problem with Hillary Clinton is that she is unethical, untruthful and has an inability to admit when she is wrong about anything. And, whether Clinton supporters like it or not, it is legitimate for the rest of us to question whether we want Bush, Clinton, Bush Clinton. We don't need an oligarchy in this country. Since the Clintons market themselves as 'two-for-one', we have a right to ask ourselves do we want an impeached president and disbarred lawyer representing us as first "gentleman". We have a right to investigate the fact that Hillary was fired from her job in the Watergate hearings for lying and unethical behavior. We have a right to be concerned about her 'mis-speaking' about being under sniper fire in Bosnia, her role as Irish peacemaker, opening the borders in Macedonia, etc. Since she claims her years as first lady as part of her resume (again the 'two-for one' presidency), we have the right to question those years. I give her credit for trying, as first lady, to get universal health care. The fact is that she didn't get it and hasn't worked toward getting it in her time in the senate. I give her credit for what she has accomplished in the senate; but, for me and for many others--ethics matter!! The truth matters!! We've had enough of secrecy in the white house--started by the Clintons and carried on by Bush. Why do Clinton supporters automatically assume that Obama supporters are stupid and/or uninformed. My criteria for what makes a good president just differs from yours; that doesn't make my concerns unimportant.
I would tell you all the reasons why I support Barack Obama (and there are many); but, somehow, I don't think you want to hear them.

The following is dedicated to SueB and the other folks here who seem to rely on the mindless soundbytes and tabloid journalism to cast their presidential choice:

Upon entering the United States Senate, Clinton maintained a low public profile while building relationships with senators from both parties, to avoid the polarizing celebrity she experienced as First Lady.[103][184][185][186] (It was reported that when Elizabeth Dole joined the Senate in 2003 under somewhat similar circumstances, she modeled her initial approach after Clinton's,[187] as did the nationally visible Barack Obama in 2005.)[188] Clinton also forged alliances with religiously-inclined senators by becoming a regular participant in the Senate Prayer Breakfast.[109][189]
Clinton has served on five Senate committees with nine subcommittee assignments:
1. Committee on Armed Services (since 2003)[190]
Subcommittee Assignments: Airland | Emerging Threats and Capabilities | Readiness and Management Support
2. which replaced an earlier assignment from 2001 on the Committee on Budget[191]
3. Committee on Environment and Public Works (since 2001)[191]
Subcommittee Assignments: Clean Air, Wetlands, Private Property, and Nuclear Safety | Fisheries, Wildlife, and Water | Superfund, Waste Control, and Risk Assessment
4. Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions(since 2001)[191]
Subcommittee Assignments: Aging | Children and Families
5. Special Committee on Aging.[192]
She is also a Commissioner of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe[193] (since 2001).[194]
Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, Clinton sought to obtain funding for the recovery efforts in New York City and security improvements in her state. Working with New York's senior senator, Charles Schumer, she was instrumental in quickly securing $21.4 billion in funding for the World Trade Center site's redevelopment.[195][196][197] Not a favorite of New York City police officers and firefighters who were in attendance, she was audibly booed and heckled at The Concert for New York City on October 20, 2001, although her husband was loudly applauded.[198][199][200] She subsequently took a leading role[201] in investigating the health issues faced by 9/11 first responders, eventually earning the praise and endorsement of New York City's Uniformed Fire Officers Association and the Uniformed Firefighters Association for her 2006 re-election bid.[182][202] In 2005, Clinton issued two studies that examined the disbursement of federal homeland security funds to local communities and first responders. Clinton voted for the USA Patriot Act in October 2001, as did all but one senator. In 2005, when the act was up for renewal, she worked to address some of the civil liberties concerns with it,[203] before voting in favor of a compromise renewed act in March 2006 that gained large majority support.[204]
As a member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, Clinton strongly supported military action in Afghanistan, saying it was a chance to combat terrorism while improving the lives of Afghan women who suffered under the Taliban government.[205] Clinton voted in favor of the October 2002 Iraq War Resolution, which authorized United States President George W. Bush to use military force against Iraq, should such action be required to enforce a United Nations Security Council Resolution after pursuing with diplomatic efforts. (However, Clinton voted against the Levin Amendment to the Resolution, which would have required the President to conduct vigorous diplomacy at the U.N., and would have also required a separate Congressional authorization to unilaterally invade Iraq.[190] She did vote for the Byrd Amendment to the Resolution, which would have limited the Congressional authorization to one year increments, but the only mechanism necessary for the President to renew his mandate without any Congressional oversight was to claim that the Iraq War was vital to national security each year the authorization required renewal.)[190] Clinton later said that she did not read the full classified National Intelligence Estimate that was delivered ten days before the vote to all members of Congress, and that gave a more subtle case for Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction than the Bush Administration's abridged summary, but that she was briefed on the report.[206][190]

REALITY CHECK FOLKS -- Do you really think that HRC's one single vote to go into Iraq was the deciding vote? She has already publicly declared her regret for casting this vote.

As far as Obama - I'm a resident of his "state", and any person who doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to vote YES OR NO, not "NOT VOTING" or "PRESENT" - does not deserve the right to run this country. I've seen his waffling and his 57 lies mentioned earlier, and had to live with the consequences. And on top of that Obama PAYS bloggers on a monthly basis from his campaign funds --- is that a desperate move to position himself for this election or what?

He is the same individual who as admitted knowing Rezko and the Pastor for 20 years -- but didn't know "what they were really like." He is being bought by Hollywood, Wall Street, and Chicago right now with all of the massive campaign bundling -- but we should trust him. Right.

McCain - well, I don't know if he would survive in office that long, and he wants to keep us in a war in Iraq for the next 100 years... America's economy is teetering now (Medicare will last through 2010, last checked) - can you imagine the economic turmoil by then?

HRC has more qualifications than most people care to give her credit. I guess the thought of a female with a brain scares too many people. And the media is now throwing in the comments posted to Chelsea about how HRC responded to the Lewinsky scandal -- ANCIENT HISTORY. What does that have to do with her qualifications, tenacity and willingness to fight for Americans?

HRC has my vote.

I've decided just this evening that it's a compliment to Hillary Clinton that her adversaries are so desperately trying to defeat her using the same tactics they used against Al Gore in 2000.

Al Gore and Hillary Clinton are the two most substantive candidates fielded by either party in the past eight years.

Both Al and Hillary have powerful intellects that grasp the big picture but also realize how to plan and implement the necessary incremental changes to reach the nation's goals.

Like Al Gore, Hillary Clinton is also threat to the status quo, and just as Gore's opponents knew, Clinton's also know they can't beat her in a fair fight on the basis of who is better qualified for the presidency.

Just skim the Obamaphiles' boring, robotic, repetitive charges against Clinton (gleefully amplified by the mindless media). They are replays of the Republican attacks on Al Gore (once gleefully amplified by the mindless media): they branded Gore a liar, made fund of how he dressed, and mocked his mannerisms. Sound familiar?

Today Al Gore is respected throughout the world. I'm betting that regardless of how the 2008 campaign turns out, Hillary Clinton, like Al Gore, will be the winner in the long run.

And the Obamaphiles can choke on their own filth for years to come.

THE NEW NAZIS

You would think that the neocons would repudiate the nazis, but their play-book is taken from the nazis: espouse racial hatred: espouse hatred of other religions: espouse invading other countries: espouse "patriotism" and war....and then use the nazi BIG LIE propaganda to achieve these goals.....and repeat it over and over and over.

You would think that the neocons would know where racial and religious hatred leads, that once allowed, it can come back and turn against them; but they now espouse both.

You would think that it would give them pause to know that once they've embraced the nazi philosophy of religious and racial hatred, false patriotism and war, at that point, you would think they would realize that they have become nazis themselves.

Hillary a leader?!?! At what? Nearly every important event or issue that Hillary has led, leads to nowhere! Hillary led the push for Universal Health Care into the ground! Hillary is leading her presidential campaign into the ground!

Hillary's only goal is to be the first female President of the US at all costs. She won't win the nomination in 2008 so she do her best to sabotage Obama enough so that he loses in 2008. That way, Hillary can run for President again in 2012. Hillary is very aware that at age 60 she only has one other chance to become president which is in 2012. After that she will be seen as too old.

Obama could not even stand up for this country against his minister as he said God Damn America.
How can anyone expect him to stand up for this country in any other respect.
The only thing he does well is give speeches. Even his speech against the war was quickly forgotten when he got to the senate and was able to actually vote. He voted to finance the war and against troop withdrawal.
For those of you who claim to base your choice on the idea of Hillary Clintons dishonesty, you really have on blinders.
There is not a single other candidate that has been in the primaries that has been as dishonest and misleading and outright lied over and over as much as Barack Obama has.
This man has not stood up for anything of substance, just smoke and mirrors.

After Wright, I actually got a copy of Dreams From My Father. It is a very racist book. He misrepresented himself to the American people. For that, he will never be president. He should have been more honest about how he felt from the get-go then maybe we could have accepted him.

Hillary voted to allow the use of force in Iraq. Barack did not. He wasn't there, but he uses it as though it is an example of his superior judgement. Really? Would Hillary have sat in an anti-American KKK church for 20 years? I doubt it. If she did, she would no longer be in this race.

Newsflash, Jr., your judgement can only be superior if you actually are placed in a position where you have to use it. You failed miserably!

One of the most memorable acts performed by great leaders such as Ghandi, King, Churchill and FDR, were their words, which rallied nations, moved masses and shaped history.

All of those leaders backed up their words with good judgement and a keen sense of the moment in history, both of which Obama has and Hillary lacks.

But words, especially when uttered with passion and sincerity, matter a LOT - let noone think differently. Hillary gets into trouble when she speaks because she lies so much. Maybe that's why she dismisses the power of words

And what about her top adviser who was making trade deals on the side with foreign governments? And what about those two brothers of hers who were selling pardons out of the back door of the White House? We need to know more about Hillary and her connections before we give her the nomination. Really? Are you sure? Hillary voted for the Iraq war. This is after millions of people (including the pope!) around the world protested against our invading Iraq.

But she did vote for it.

(you can decide why, my guess, ultimately, was that it was because of the pressure from very powerful lobbies (lobby), and that it was politically expedient (proving that she's tough)

So, are you really sure that it would be better to vote for her, if she steals this election (her only option)?

I'm not.

I think, if it cannot be the rightful Democratic nominee (i.e. : Obama) then I would rather see a Republican standing in office when the sh*t hits the fan (which it will)from the failed policies of Bush.

A leader leads when they are needed most. A patriot does the hard thing and stands up for their country when needed most. Obama is a leader and a patriot. He also would be the smartest president ever to grace the white house. These are facts, not opinion. That is where the two camps differ. Clinton, like her republican friends, love to talk about what they would want to be and the ideal state. It's called propoganda. Obama has integrity.

Clinton and her supporters are following the gop down the rabbit hole. Their choice. Give the gop (Clinton included) the irrelevance they have earned.

We need a leader who won't feign tears or whine publicly when the media purportedly gangs up on her. "I'm human," she must try to remind us.

We need a leader who doesn't complain about how long it takes her to get dressed compared to the other candidates. There are issues that matter more to me.

We need a leader who is glad to get the tough questions first, instead of creating publicity about who is asked in what order, instead of focusing on the content of the answers. When in doubt, deflect?

Vulnerability, ironically is one of her not-so-presidential defense tactics.

We need a leader who is not embroiled in the politics of the past, but can move people to act today - and tomorrow.

Empowering the people is a significant part of the president's job. Hillary turns off as many as she deceivingly inspires. There is only one candidate who has truly inspired millions of new voters.

Obama gets my vote, McCain wins it by default if Hillary was the opponent.

I couldn't disagree more with Clinton's assessment that America needs a leader who will not bend! While we definitely do not want or need a leader who will "break" there are times when real leadership requires that a President is both willing and able to "bend" (show a little flexibility) in order to deal with the situation and the times in order to bring about the optimal result.

Hillary never ceases to amaze me for her ability to mimick the character and leadership style of George W Bush. One of the traits that has made his administration the most disatrous, and autocratic, and dysfunctional in the history of the Presidency is his inabilty to bend and look at things from a slightly different perspective, or to even entertain the possibility for the briefest second that he might not always be right about everything (even in hindsight). On matters such as this, Hillary is a virtual George W Bush clone!

Probably the most vivid example we have to this date pointing out the danger of Hillary's inability and unwillingness to "bend" is her own statement describing her total lack of respect for and desire to listen to the advice of her military experts on the matter of withdrawing our troops from Iraq SAFELY when the time comes.

She's The Boss: I'll Withdraw Regardless Of Military Advice

New York Times | Julie Bosman | April 10, 2008 06:27 PM

The New York Times reports:
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton reiterated her campaign pledge to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq within 60 days of taking office, and added on Thursday that she would carry out the policy regardless of the advice she might receive from military commanders.

This is what really worries me about Hillary Clinton's plan to withdraw our troops from Iraq. Apparently she has learned nothing from the history of our failure in Viet Nam because our civilian leadership did not allow the military to use their expertise in all matters military and restrict themselves to the political and policy making that did not involve "military strategy". While I agree that our military must always remain subordinate to and under the control of a competent civilian government, I believe that an intelligent leadership will listen carefully to, and in most instances except the counsel of our military leadership in matters that relate to tactical matters, including the SAFE withdrawal of our troops from Iraq. It disturbs me that Hillary is apparently not sufficiently humbled by the thousands of American lives she has sacrificed by her gross error in judgement which sent them into harm's way to begin with; now she would place more of our brave men and women in more danger than necessary and expose them to a greater casualty count than need be for the sake of political expediency. This is not only arrogant; it is grossly and blatantly careless and flawed judgement. Would Hilary really ignore and overrule the advice of her military commanders despite her total lack of training and/or experience in military matters just to deliver on a campaign promise and show everyone that SHE IS THE BOSS? We all want to see our troops brought home, but is Hillary Clinton so intent upon accomplishing this that she would risk bringing greater numbers of them home in a box just to have the bragging rights that she brought them home when and how SHE wanted? According to Hillary's own words - YES SHE WILL!

President Is Boss, Clinton Says

Isn't this the same kind of attitude that we have been getting from George W Bush for the past 7+ years?

The New York Times reported that, while campaigning in Iowa in December 2007, Obama boasted that he had passed a bill requiring nuclear plants to promptly report radioactive leaks. This came after residents of his home state of Illinois complained they were not told of leaks that occurred at a nuclear plant operated by Exelon Corporation.

The truth, however, was that Obama allowed the bill to be amended in Committee by Senate Republicans, replacing language mandating reporting with verbiage that merely offered guidance to regulators on how to address unreported leaks. The story noted that even this version of Obama's bill failed to pass the Senate, so it was unclear why Obama was claiming to have passed the legislation. The February 3, 2008 The New York Times article titled "Nuclear Leaks and Response Tested Obama in Senate" by Mike McIntire also noted the opinion of one of Obama's constituents, which was hardly enthusiastic about Obama's legislative efforts:

"Senator Obama's staff was sending us copies of the bill to review, and we could see it weakening with each successive draft," said Joe Cosgrove, a park district director in Will County, Ill., where low-level radioactive runoff had turned up in groundwater. "The teeth were just taken out of it."

As it turns out, the New York Times story noted: "Since 2003, executives and employees of Exelon, which is based in Illinois, have contributed at least $227,000 to Mr. Obama's campaigns for the United States Senate and for president. Two top Exelon officials, Frank M. Clark, executive vice president, and John
