Clinton Mocks Herself, Bill on Tonight Show

Democratic presidential hopeful, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), finishes her interview with host Jay Leno during a taping of NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" in Burbank, Calif., Thursday, April 3, 2008. (AP)

By Perry Bacon Jr.
BURBANK, Calif. -- Appearing on NBC's "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno," Hillary Clinton poked fun at a recent controversy where she incorrectly said that on a trip to Bosnia as first lady she had been the target of snipe fire.

"I was worried I wasn't going to make it," Clinton said, arriving on the set. "I was pinned down by sniper fire."

Her jocularity continued when Leno asked about Chelsea Clinton's remark that her mother would make a better president than her father.

"Oh, she's such a smart young woman," Clinton said.

She also continued to mock her own ads about taking 3 a.m. phone calls to emergencies on security issues or the economy. A short segment at the start of the show had Clinton taking a call from Leno in the wee hours of the morning, and she referred to it again once on his couch.

"It happens every single night, somebody calls up and they've got something to say," Clinton said. Looking at Leno, she added, "You've got to stop calling."

Clinton repeated her standard remarks defending the role of superdelegates and calling for re-votes in Florida and Michigan, but with a little added humor. Asked by Leno about superdelegates, she said that "they walk around with capes on."

Asked about a crusader for her own campaign, her husband, Clinton didn't exactly rebut Leno's comments that the president seemed to have "lost his cool" and got "literally red-faced" at times while campaigning for his wife.

"I told him, 'Okay, honey, that's all right -- we don't have to go get excited about it,' " Clinton said. "He's doing a great job for me, but he does get a little carried away sometimes."

As the mother of an American Soldier, I take offense at Mrs. Clinton's repeated fabrication of coming under enemy sniper fire in Bosnia. For some Americans, enemy sniper fire is real and for too many American families, sniper fire has been and continues to be devasting. It is not to be lied about for personal gain...nor is it a joke for late night TV.

Hillary was absolutely great on the Lenno show! Her humour and natural talents, including comedic timing, were a match for Jay! This capable, intelligent woman's the brightest star the dems and the obamyopics chose to snub and belittle, and it'll cost them dearly...

Too bad the bully boys of the DNC and the Obamyopia campaign can't be cured of their allergic reaction to the Democratic ideals to which they purportedly subscribe. Trying to elbow Hillary off the race and have her throw in her towel refusing to count (or allow revote) the Fla. and Michigan voters when she's in fact leading in popular vote and is only a few delegates behind, will cost them the election. In 1980 Ted Kennedy carried his run against Jimmy Carter all the way to the Convention, even tho it was obvious he had been routed. And in 1976, Reagan contested the "inevitability" of Gerald Ford all the way to the Convention--and no one criticized Reagan for not stepping aside and letting Ford get the Prize!!

Obama's judgment in not challenging Rev. Wright's incendiary catechism 20 years earlier, and fostering a dialogue or even to have attempted giving a speech about Healing and Unity and Harmony to his own congregation, rather than make a politically expedient Speech to millions much later, will be questioned. Also, where's his parental judgment in allowing his two little girls to continue to be absorb such toxicity that will result in yet another generation's angry wounds not being healed...."Physician, heal thyself" said Hippocrates"--Obama should remember this! Giving a Speech to the nation when a conversation with his congregation could have done the trick many moons ago, just won't cut it!

Obama's judgment in foreign affairs will also be critical in that he actively campaigned in Kenya with Dick Morris on behalf of his luo cousin Raila Odinga, the marxist leaning Opposition leader who signed a MOU with all islamist national groups to enact SHARIA LAW throughout Kenya (full cover for women and 'chastity laws' for girls' with jail sentences)once elected. Unfortunately, after he lost he election, riots ensued and many churches were burned and hundreds raped and injured. The President of Kenya has ignored Obama and was very angry in that Obama directly interfered in his country's affairs--not exercising better diplomatic judgment as an American dignitary.

In 2004,when elected to the senate, Obama himself said he did not consider it wise for him to even consider running for president in '08 as he thought his "resume wasn't yet substantial" and his judgment could not be relied upon as he "lacked experience"!! He should have listened to Himself, and this wise man:

"I have no doubt that Sen. Hillary Clinton will be a good president"--Sen. John McCain in Baghdad responding to Tim Russert, Meet the Press.

It is amazing how we say we are ready for an African American President, but, I have been watching the news and reading many article and blogs and it seem to me that we are not ready.

As Bill O'Reilly, stated Hilary Clinton will not drop out of the race because she would rather John McCain to win than Barak Obama. This is really about race, she do not want a African American to be a President. Many of you are saying negative things about Barak Obama because you do not want a African American to be President.

As I said on my website - www.Strategyelm.com, Racism is alive and well in America.

helen6, here are your five reasons:

--He's very bright. President of the Harvard Law Review, was on the law faculty at U of C. He wasn't tenure-track because he held outside jobs that didn't permit him to do research, but he was offered tenure track positions by the department several times.

--His way of thinking through problems is uniquely well-suited to being a decision-maker. He's not bothered by complexity, and has a knack for seeing to the heart of a problem.

Here's an article by one of his old colleagues about how he thinks:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-oped0314obamamar14,0,7185898.story

--He understands the importance of process in making good legislation. Good legislators will produce bad legislation if they're incentivized to do so, and our system of government puts incentives on legislators to make bad legislation in many situations. His history of fighting for ethics and campaign finance reform at both the state and the national level contrast with Hillary's lack of commitment in that area.

On a broader level, a chief executive will never know more about an issue than their advisors. The key skill is to think about *why* some advisors might be right and why some might be wrong. Obama's interest in process shows that this is something that he thinks about naturally.

--He shares my perspective on the issues. He's pro-choice, anti-war, wants to give everyone access to health care, and wants to make serious investments in clean renewable energy.

--His experience as an organizer is actually the best leadership experience for being a president. Presidents actually have remarkably little direct authority; they mostly work through getting other people to want to do things for them. In that sense, being an organizer is much better practice for getting your agenda through than experience like being a CEO. Certainly, his campaign has shown that he has a unique ability to manage large organizations well.

Let's get things straight, Roy3. I am not trying to humiliate HRC by my comments. Ms. Clinton humiliated herself by her pathetic lying which she repeated and then had the temerity to joke about it. I'd suggest you look up pathetic in the dictionary.

Posted by: arthurgowran | April 4, 2008 8:42 PM | Report abuse

"Pathetic" is a word used by many Obama followers. As a matter of fact that word tells more about the followers than the person they are trying to humiliate.

Hillary Clinton is constantly touting her experience, and her supporters claim she is so smart. Now for reality.... if she is so experienced and smart why does she lie over and over again and when her repeated lying doesn't work, she tries a new tactic--joking about herself which doesn't work either? She is pathetic. It seems to me her only real experience is in lying which she learned from her "so-called husband" Bill! And as for smarts, she clearly isn't as smart as she thinks she is or her supporters think she is. Can we really endure another inexperienced fool for a President after what we have witnessed with Bush for almost eight years? I, for one, don't think so. Obama for President!

Nice to hear that Jeremiah Wright is thought of as a "Patriot", but of what country? Certainly not of the USA if he can stand at the pulpit of his church and G.D. America. Not buying this one.

I don't think you will ever find Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, John McCain, G. W. Bush or Dick Cheney EVER standing up G.D. America and expect to get away with it.

If you believe it is such a trivial matter, then why did the church sell his sermons? And why did they take the church's website of the Internet? A little too late wouldn't you say. Now you can post all the rhetoric about obama and his preacher and their suspicious associations, but again, it's too little, too late.

I am so sick of hearing people say that Hillary Clinton is tearing the Democratic Party apart. I think that job has already been fulfilled by Obama. Only a self--absorbed person with a mammoth ego would declare his candidacy for the most important job on earth after serving only one year in the senate. He was also probably banking on the fact that many Americans would not take the time to do their homework and could be schmoozed by smooth talk and charisma. Those same qualities are the one's that have allowed crooked tele--evangelist to milk millions out of people's pockets and why so many people overpay for clunkers from a used car lot. Clinton was in the race first and if Obama really truly cared about the Democratic party and his country, he would have first, worked hard in the Senate to: first prove himself as an effective leader in the legislature and to the people of Illinois; second, he would have campaigned vigorously for Senator Clinton to take her historic candidacy all the way to the White House, and then a few years down the road, he could thrown his hat into the ring to become the first African American president. Right now, his impatience, selfishness, and ginormous ego will indeed cost the Democratic Party the claim to the first female president, followed by the first African American president.
PS
Is there anyone out there who can give five concrete and substantive reasons, based on his record, and without using the intangible words -inspiration or uniter, why Obama is qualified to be the leader of the free world?

cheersdk, thanks for the video. I wondered why Senator Obama told a lie, then the next day he told the truth. It was probably because he knew video would come out to show he was lying. All politiicans lie, but it's bad when they get caught on tape. Hillary is smart and I beleive is the best candidate to be president, but she has to stop lying about her experiences. The Bosnia story was good enough without her lying about sniper fire. I am still pissed with her for lying, however, I will still vote for her because I beleive she is the only candidate that has a chance in beating McCaine. Barack has been compromised with the Wright story.

Lighten up, folks. Hillary was charming with Leno, she is good at the one-on-one interviews, and contrary to the mythology she is a basically likeable person. That doesn't mean I'm going to vote for her but the constant personal insults from both sides got old a long time ago. I mean, come on. Someone on another thread was even trying to criticize McCain for having small hands. Is this junior high school or what?

By the way, if you recognize that Rev. Wright is being misrepresented, I hope you'll spread the word around. If the media won't show the world as it is, then at least we can do our best.

Some posters have said that Wright's service doesn't erase his remarks, and that might be true. But there were two main lines of attack on his words: that they were racist, and that they were unpatriotic.

But, if you're willing to give your life for your country, it's hard to say that you're not patriotic enough. That's why Wright's service is significant.

As for the racism angle, here's a snippet from another story that appeared in the Tribune, written by a (white) man who's been a member of Trinity for a number of years:

"About 26 years ago, I became engaged to my wife, an African-American. She was at that time and remains a member of Trinity. Somewhere between the ring and the altar, my wife had second thoughts and broke off the engagement. Her decision was grounded in race: So committed to black causes, the daughter of parents subjected to unthinkable prejudice over the years, an "up-and-coming" leader in the young black community, how could she marry a white man?

"Rev. Wright, whom I had met only in passing at the time and who was equally if not more outspoken about "black" issues than he is today, somehow found out about my wife's decision. He called and asked her to "drop everything" and meet with him at Trinity. He spent four hours explaining his reaction to her decision. Racial divisions were unacceptable, he said, no matter how great or prolonged the pain that caused them. God would not want us to assess or make decisions about people based on race. The world could make progress on issues of race only if people were prepared to break down barriers that were much easier to let stand.

"Rev. Wright was pretty persuasive; he presided over our wedding a few months later. In the years since, I have watched in utter awe as Wright has overseen and constructed a support system for thousands in need on the South Side that is far more impressive and effective than any governmental program possibly could approach. And never in my life have I been welcomed more warmly and sincerely than at Trinity. Never."

For the full story, read here:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-oped0326trinitymar26,0,7143430.story

The thing is, pastors don't write sermons anticipating that they'll be cut down to short clips. Heck, pastors don't even write their sermons word for word. So I'm not sure it's fair to privilege short clips, selected for their controversial nature, over Wright's longer and fuller history of patriotism and of racial reconciliation. His church has white members, and is part of the predominantly white United Church of Christ. He was a Marine, and also described 9/11 as a tragedy and deeply shocking in the same sermon where people thought he was being callous.

Look at the fuller picture, and Rev. Wright is an imperfect but basically decent human being. And that deserves to be said on every message board out there.

Khaled Meshal - Hamas in Palestine
Hassan Nasrallah - Hezbollah in Lebanon
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad - Iran
Osama bin Laden - Al-Qaeda + the Talibans

They are all prepared to take over if Barack Obama is elected president. And Israel is going to be erased from the map. Obama is to naive to manage such a serious
threat.

McCain is as dangerous as Georg W Bush. To me Hillary Clinton seems to have a realistic angle of approach to solve the war in Irak and to secure the survival of the democratic state of Israel.

A small percentage of America, the obamanuts, have the ability to bury Hillary Clinton based on what and who her husband did BUT they will not bury the will of the majority voter. If Obama wins that will be a miracle. This is based on what his "adopted for now" brothers and sisters continue to do. If a miracle happens, it may, we'll see how many "adopted family members" will support a four year lame, or completely disabled, duck presidency. LMAO!!!!!!!!

And the worst part is: these media morons, and a sizable segment of the electorate, swallow it -- hook, line and sinker.

For all those who buy the line that Mrs. Clinton is a congenital liar: How come there aren't more instances of her lying? Consider if most of what you've said or done had been recorded over the past 15 years. How would you come out on the truthtelling scale? How many lies, exaggerations, or half-truths would constitute a lying "problem"? The labeling of Mrs. Clinton as a liar is nothing but a lie, for political expediency, no different than the lie she was accused of when she embellished her Bosnian story.

Between the Hillary enthusiasts and haters and the Obama lovers here - the main point is missing.

Who can win in November? As a Democrat I want to nominate the person who can beat McCain. Obama has a real problem here and it's not all of his own making. We still live in a racist nation. We have seen that to win African Americans need to be ahead at least 5-6% in a final poll because what we have done is not end racism but drive it underground. It is now not politically correct to be a racist but in the secret of the ballot box it is still ok.

Unless Barack Obama can prove in KY, IN, PA, WV and PR that he can get the voters that are giving Hillary states like CA, Arkansas, Ohio and Texas, he will lose in November. It really doesn't matter that he can get more votes than Hillary in NY, or Maine or some other state that the Democrats should and will win. It's the votes he can't get in the other states that will hurt him. National polls mean nothing it is the state by state polls in the swing states that matter and Hillary clearly does better there. Right now she is showing that she can win Ohio and maybe even Florida. Obama can't show that.

I will support either one of them if they become the nominee. But let's not have a nominee who can't win. Let's play out the remaining primaries and see how they both do. The NY Times/CBS poll today showed Obama beginning to slide and lose support among white men and women. It is the White Men, seniors, Women and Hispanics who will make the difference in this campaign in November. If Obama can make inroads in those voters in the coming primaries that is great-if he can't we shouldn't nominate him.

And we have three months to find out what else there is about Obama that the press hasn't vetted. I recently saw the piece about Rev. Meeks. The anti-gay Black minister and legislator in Chicago who is a supporter of Obama's and actually an Obama delegate to the convention. Obama calls him a friend, advisor, mentor etc. sort of what he says about Rev. Wright. Well the Southern Poverty Law Center names him one of the most homophobic anti-gay Black ministers in the nation. Let's see if Obama says anything about him?

We have three more months to go and that will determine the nominee. Again I say I will support the nominee of the Democratic party but I would be much happier if that person could win in November and right now it looks like that person is Hillary Clinton.

Obama LIED about Rezko, LIED about Rev Wright repeatedly.

Why don't that bother Obama Suporters, but Hillary's exaggerating for effect about a very dangerous situation in a hot zone bothers them so much?

Obama LIED about so many things.

Why do Obama supporters still support him if LIES are such a big moral issue to them?

We all need to take a deep breath and chill!

All politicians lie; they all are greedy; they look after their own interests; they don't care about the economy as long as they can hope to have a lucrative retirement; they are patriotic only when it promotes their image; they don't exercise their IQs; they sold out to the special interests; and they attend church only for their image...The above should be a standard lesson in every classroom in this country...It should be entitled, "The New Ugly American". That way, we won't get disappointed, we won't aspire for solutions, we won't be stressed-out, we know what to expect, and this world would certainly be a better place!

Anyone who expects anything from politicians will be sent to a concentration camp to concentrate on making ends meet, solving our medical and financial problems without government involvement (they are too busy making money for themselves), think and concentrate on the prospect of old age, getting our children out of debt for the high cost of education, solving the housing problem, not to mention the concentration on our not-so-green planet, protecting our meager lives from criminals that are let out by a court system that has broken down, plus concentrating on paying the government taxes that have us in a strangle hold. Besides this, they will have us concentrate on an early death to help us achieve Nirvana.

There...do we feel better now that we know the truth?

Hillary was great on Leno last night, funny and smart. Hillary is the strongest, most qualified and most electable candidate.

I support Hillary but will be a McCain Dem if Obama steals the nomination by disenfranchising voters in Michigan and Florida. Their votes must be counted and Hillary wins them!

I simply do not like or trust Obama. He's unqualified and unelectable. Follow the money trail, it's not college kids and poor blacks who are funding him........

The corporate owned media in cahjoots with their GOP pals want Obama to be the nominee because they know he's unelectable.

What kind of man, what kind of father would subject his own part white children to the racist, anti-white, anti-semitic, anti-American, pro-Farakhaan, nation of supporter Jeremiah Wright in a "church"? Obama is not a man of good judgment and good character.

Obama's new "pastor" Moss at Trinity is just as bad as Wright. Check out his Easter "sermon". Disgusting.

Wright & Moss give black churches a bad name. They preach a self-fulfulling prophecy of hate of self and country to children. There is NO defense for the indefensible. Obama made a fatal mistake in attempting to defend Wright & Moss.
This will NEVER go away.

Why do blacks support Obama when he does not even bother to show up at their big events like the Tavis Smiley event and today's MLK event (Hillary and even McCain are there today), where's Obama???????

Obama should be ashamed for trying to disenfranchise voters in Michigan and Florida. Their votes MUST be counted and they must have full participation in the DNC convention. The Dems cannot win without Michigan and Florida in November.

Hillary has already proven she can win big in the big states that are the must wins for the Dems in November. If you can't win in states like Ohio, where Obama outspent Hillary 3 to 1 yet won only 5 out of 88 counties in Ohio, you cannot win the Presidency. In Ohio today, Hillary beats McCain by 10 points while Obama loses.

The Democratic Party would be wise to remember it is WHITE WOMEN who make up the majority voting block of the Democratic party and it's been that way for decades. WE WANT HILLARY!! The Dems will pay the price of defeat in November if they try to shove Obama down our throats.

When WOMEN vote, DEMOCRATS win.

**VOTE SMART!! VOTE HILLARY!!**

Yes, everyone knows Obama's father was from Kenya and his parents split when Obama was 2 years old. Except for a few years in Indonesia, Obama spent most of his childhood years with his mom and grandparents in Hawaii. (You do know Hawaii is a U.S. state, don't you polly?)

Many of us think Obama's diverse background gives him a wider perspective through which to view the problems of the world and perhaps bring some solutions.

Thanks for that post! It's so sad to see Hillary's supporters self-destruct. Now they are putting youtube links to videos so amateurishly contrived it would be laughable, if it wasn't so sickenly hateful. What is wrong with you people? You are demonstrating the very reason we need a CHANGE from the divisiveness of BUSH/CLINTON/BUSH. Our nation...the world...has serious problems to face. Try to get your noses out of the gutter and look around.

Why can't people see through this charade?

Just like the weeks before Ohio and Texas. HRC runs around yelling at Obama, slinging mud and attacking him, goes on tv and puts on a warm/fuzzy/humorous act, and then returns to the campaign trail and picks up the hatchet again.

It is so f---king transparent!

And how about her latest scam: denying she told Richardson Obama can't win, then having her apologists come out later -- after the evening news shows -- and say she didn't understand the question (in other words, she didn't deny it, after all).

We cannot let these people anywhere near the WH. We just cannot.

This Wright story is more of the same double standard that has existed in this country throughout its esteemed history. The question of why Obama didn't leave his church is silly. How many whites left the south in "righteous indignation" when blacks endured slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, discrimination, and other unthinkable violations (legal and moral)of their civil rights? Why did they stay there? HRC has Arkansas roots, but didn't leave until she became a legal resident of New York when she decided to run for the senate. Enough of this double standard nonsense from Hillary, the media and everyone else. By the way, Senator John McCain is in Memphis today speaking at the 40th anniversary of MLK's asassination. Isn't this is the same McCain that voted against the MLK holiday? More duplicity.

brewstercounty,

I was at Hillary's events twice and she was very friendly with passion taking pictures with the people around. -- Not like snobby Obama refusing taking picture with a poor guy begging like to God yesterday. She has good sense of humor, comparing Obama's rigidness with rehearsed speeches. Hillary is a real American, and he is not like any of Americans. -- His father was from Kenya, you know. Looks like standard tactics for her. Throw a lot of mud at Obama just before a primary, go on a comedy show.... She just needs to cry next week and her preparation for the primaries will be done.
Her timing though seems to be a little off. There are still almost 3 weeks left. Maybe we will see repetitious cycles of mud-jokes-tears until Apr 22nd.

Not quite sure how that lie about Obama telling the Canadian government that his stance against NAFTA was just politics as usual, but that story was a lie told just in time to fool Ohio voters:

quote:
Canada Says TV Story on Obama NAFTA Deception is 'Untrue'

"I can categorically say that no one has contacted our embassy or our ambassador," said Canadian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andre Lemay. "None of our officials at the embassy discussed anything with the runners up in the presidential campaign. We realize that one of the Canadian networks mentioned yesterday that such a call had been made. The report is untrue."

As someone said before, these have got to be some of the most off-topic and innane posts I've seen.

With that said, since it seems to be all about Mr. Wright, this middle-aged white male can see some of his points.

MORE IMPORTANTLY, why do Americans let the Republicans go to Bob Jones University and Liberty University to get the 'blessing' of white-male religious bigots, and not draw this fire?

How was GWB derailing McCain's 2000 candidacy in South Carolina by appealing to the racists in that state (and across the south) not covered with such vitriol.

Why are normally very intelligent, well-meaning liberals cherry-picking information to denigrate the other candidate?

What's up with that?

It's amazing, the arrogance of a woman to go out and lie about being in peril, and then to joke about it after she gets caught. First, lying and fabrication is called "misspeaking," and now it's portrayed as humorous and charming, not only by the Clinton campaign and Jay Leno, but by the media who have yet to question her on her blatantly false storytelling and bizarre behavior. Any apologies from Clinton? Certainly not! We get only a self-pitying accusation that for her critics, her "humanity" is a "revelation." Do Clinton, supporters and the adoring media have any character or conscience at all?

It seems that in Clintonworld, not only is a boldfaced lie justified, it's entertaining. People everywhere who actually believe in integrity and sincerity find it disgusting.

Kennedy's challenge to, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country," gave up his student deferment, left college in Virginia and voluntarily joined the Marines...."

So what?

During a lifetime most people change their opinions in difficult matters. In 1961 the Vietnam war was escalating. This war was considered to be unfair by most European countries. Opposition to U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War began slowly and in small numbers in 1964 on various college campuses in the United States.

In May 1961, Vice-President Lyndon B. Johnson visited Saigon and enthusiastically declared Diem the "Winston Churchill of Asia." Asked why he had made the comment, Johnson replied, "Diem's the only boy we got out there." Johnson assured Diem of more aid, in order to mold a fighting force that could resist the communists.

Kennedy's policy towards South Vietnam rested on the assumption that Diem and his forces must ultimately defeat the guerrillas on their own. He was against the deployment of American combat troops and observed that "to introduce U.S. forces in large numbers there today, while it might have an initially favorable military impact, would almost certainly lead to adverse political and, in the long run, adverse military consequences. At the beginning of this discaster WHICH ENDED UP IN A REAL WAR McCain was in the Armed forces and Jeremiah Wright joined the Marine. What is great about that?

In 1961 Bill Clinton was only 14 years old. In 1963, two influential moments in Clinton's life contributed to his decision to become a public figure. One was his visit to the White House to meet President John F. Kennedy, as a Boys Nation senator. The other was listening to Martin Luther King's 1963 "I Have a Dream speech" (he memorized Dr. King's words). He won a Rhodes Scholarship to University College, Oxford where he studied Government. While at Oxford he also participated in VIETNAM WAR PROTESTS, including organizing an October 1969 Moratorium event.

Back in December, I was actually really excited by the Dem ticket. A black man and a woman? Unbelievable. Hillary has made a mockery of this election, and it's too bad, because I think she'd probably be doing much better if she weren't so hell bent on the idea that she deserves to win.

Do you honestly believe that telling us that Jeremiah Wright was a Marine makes all his dispicable, personal, poisonous, political, RACIST sermons go away??? You're delusional.

Obama has a habit of hinting that every white person is a racist. Us "typical white people" think he needs to look a little closer at his own associates before he pins all the blame for his and his wife's "horrible" life on me and my family.

And, in contrast, here are the questions on the "issues" that Obamaniacs want answered:
"If Bill is once again returned to the "White" House as executive member, will he once again have interns on his executive staff?"

What a sick puppy you are.

Of all the stuff that is going on in the world, this is the burning question of your life??? What, are you in sixth grade or something? May I suggest the afterschool circle jerk?

Kallenoo1, It is wonderful that Rev Wright served in our military, but can you explain why he chose to befriend a known racist, Louis Farrakhan when he came home? Can you explain what greatness his black separatist BRANCH of the United Church of Christ sees in a black racist that calls all white men blue eyed devils? Obama said told Chris Matthews on Hard Ball the other night while talking to a group of college students that he does not sterotype people or put them in groups, yet he called his grandmother a "typical white person", how dow you explain that particular contrary statement. It appears that he does, but claims he does not? Did Obama obtain a foundation for his way of thinking from 20 years of attending a black separatist church? Are his children, that have attended this church since their birth, going to feel the same way about blue eyed devils that Louis Farrakhan does?

any democrat who says they will vote for mccain is just stupid. if you claim to support clinton for any policy reason whatsoever then you cannot support mccain. if you claim to support obama for any policy you cant vote for mccain. you people who are hung up on wright are just sad. he gave a sermon about america not acting higher than god. i am tired though, of people excusing clinton for her mistakes when she wont apologize for them. she tries to explain everything away instead of facing up to her mistakes. she did not misspeak. its an anecdote she told many times. it was backed up by chelsea. when sinbad said she was wrong she continued to tell it. you people in florida need to get over yourselves. punish your legislators not america. if you were going to vote democrat that reason is still there in the fall. people need to get over the selfishness. our country is headed into the trash under the current policies and people who let their own immediate pique get in the way of larger issues will be just as responsible for the continuation of the war and the fall of the economy.

Okay, Hillary mispoke about Bosnia once- with repeated references in books and interviews previously that were accurate.

Barak mispoke when he said he had never supported NAFTA, given his speech in 2004.

He misspoke when he said he didn't know how he would have voted if he had been there in 2002 to vote on Iraq (in August 2004).

He mispoke when he said noone in his campaign had spoken to the Canadian Government about not really being serious about changing NAFTA.

The list goes on. Neither of them is a perfect person.

I have one question. Why is it that every time someone mentions Hillary's habitual "misspeaks" (aka lies), someone goes off about the pastor of Trinity Church? Did he announce that he is running for president? Let's compare apples to apples. Hillary vs Obama. Let the pastor and the Bill the out-of-control philanderer do what they do.

I hope Hillary stays in the race to the end. This is great for America, and perfect for Obama. The Clinton's clearly make him look even better than he is.

Michael

You must be the most righteous person on earth! No matter what HRC does, she proves your point. If she embellishes a story- there were major elements of truth in that story- just exaggerated- she is a liar; if she apologizes for misspeaking- she is a liar, if she jokes about it- she is a liar. No matter what she does you prove your point with it (I believe that is called circular logic).

Since she is responsible for all bad things that have ever happened. She is clearly more responsible for the occupation than Kerry or Dachle who also voted for it or Obama who continues to vote to fund the occupation and voted against the Fiengold bill to withdraw last year. I think she probably kills puppies, steals candy from babies, probably pushed your grandmother infront of a truck, and is responsible for famine and disease throughout the world. Try her at the Hague and have her put to death!

Oh, that was fun, now I understand what it takes to be an Obamopath; ignorance, a short attention span, a need for group speak, villianization of anyone not in the group and an arrogant belief that everything said on one side is perfect.

The one problem Democrats aren't emphasizing is that there
is a growing division in the party between the far left
Obama supporters and the more middle centrists who are
supporting Clinton. The far left apparently is the more vocal group which includes a lot of the media like MSNBC for example
which has become the Obama cable channel.
As a life long Democrat, I, sadly, have come to the realization, after speaking to many Democrats, that we will probably not win back the White House.
Obama cannot win when roughly half of Democrats, the Hillary supporters, will not vote for him. Most of Mrs. Clinton's fans simply won't "come around" as the pundits like to prophesize. They feel betrayed and wounded by their own party. Then, there are the Florida voters who want their primary to count just as
they voted. Does anyone doubt a lot of these Dems will stay home in the fall? Also, whether the Obama campaign wants to believe it or not, the Rev. Wright debacle DOES matter to Republicans and to many Democrats. This Wright issue will serve to further weaken Obama's already clear vulnerabilities in the major election.

JKallen,

Argue whatever you want about Wright- he may be right in what he says- he may be a great individual- here is the problem:

Those independents and Republicans that the Obama campaign claims to have an advantage with- they don't like rhetoric taken as anti-American. This will further disable him from competing in the "red states" that he claims he wants to compete in. Georgia kicked out it's triple amputeed veteran senator for sounding "unpatriotic". Do you think that Georgians are going to elect Barak if the ads run with Barak's words from Dreams of my father calling Wright a moral compass and a spiritual leader next to "God damn America" and "AIDS and crack were invented by the government to keep the AA male down". The problem is electability. Even if all the educated whites and the whole African American population votes for him- he will lose the electoral college. I'm just speaking politically here. He basically will win the same states Kerry/Gore won. If he can't win the working class vote or the non AA minority votes he will not win NM, CO, NV, OH, MI or FL, and stands no chance in any of the mountain/plains states except for maybe Iowa and Wisconsin (his Wisc. primary was by far his most impressive victory thus far). Lucky for him he has a lot of money because McCain will compete with him in CA as well. McCain is popular in the Latin community- note that the immigration bill that Barak tried to exaggerate his involvement in was named McCain-Kennedy.

Stop trying to justify what Rev. Wright says. It doesn't matter- Barak has chosen to wear this albatross around his neck. It is going to make it very hard for him.

If Hillary was a bit more phony and plastic...wait, that isn't possible. She'll even "mock" herself if she thinks that will help her sleaze past her major screw-up. It is disingenuous. Of course, it just confirms that she will say ANYTHING to "win". She may think she's funny and getting over on us, but that is her delusion. It doesn't fool me, and I hope not you.

keep the fraticide up, extremist supporters of Clinton/Obama. If this election is close and the clowns win again, you'll be needing to look in your mirror. We got two solid candidates. Gee, they ain't perfect.

On the Wright thing:

Whatever, he's still a bigot. Let's say some vet serves his country for a number of years and then joins the KKK. Are we going to look the other way because he was in the military? If John McCain sat in his church for 20 years would we be like, "well he's a bigot but he was also a soldier"?

I mean, come on. I'm sure there are nice things about Wright, but you guys are just trying to change the subject. And not very well...

and another thing- that sniper fire joke-- sounded to me funny in exactly the same way as GWB looking for WMDs in his desk.

Normally, I'm among the first to be annoyed w/ blatantly off-topic posts, but yeah- this needs to be heard.

I might not agree w/ what Wright says, but he's defended his own right to say it.

Thanks for the post!

Copyright Reverend Irving Wright with twenty years of Amens from Barry Obama

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us repudiate a land that's so called free,
Let us all be hateful for a land that's so called fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer.

God Da-mn America,
Land that I loathe.
Stand astride her, yet despise her
With a chip on a shoulder from above.
From the plantations, up to Harvard
To the Jews rich from our blood
God Da-am America, keepin' us down down down.

It's too bad Leno didn't ask her about the videos showing she lied about her support of NAFTA

Let's test this out to elicit an HRC chuckleheaded moment:

If Bill is once again returned to the "White" House as executive member, will he once again have interns on his executive staff?

Posted by: rahaha | April 3, 2008 11:07 PM | Report abuse

I have $100 that says the whole thing was scripted. She is so fake it is absolutely pathetic! And Leno is an idiot for partaking in the charade. I think a lot less of him now, and will stop Tivo'ing his show every night.

Hillary Clinton does not need to mocks herself... She needs to release her records (tax returns, information on big donation to the Clinton Library, and White House records).

With politicians, people are entitled to facts before jokes.

jkallen001
get real. go cry in your beer. i've worked with ex navy seals - they were residents in group home for mentally challenged people. not all ex service persons are patriotic. some are downright ill when they go in and when they come out.
mr. wright is a rabid racist. no fuzzy warming that one up.

and mr. obama sat numb bumbed for his entire adult life. never spoke up or tried to educate anyone. he was in total agreement with the rabid racist ideals. that's why he says he "would never wear one of those pins on my chest" - refrring to the united states flag.
and obama REFUSED to put his hand to his heart and pledge allegiance to a flag our troops are dying for - in Afghanistan - while Mr Obama takes care of his OWN LIFE for FIFTEEN MONTHS without one meeting of the committee he loved to braggggg about until we found out about THAT lie. just a bragging seat the DC White Haired Liberal Establishemtn Trolls gave him. Nothing more than a bragging point. He has done NOTHING to bring CHANGE to OUR TROOPS - just a USER. You can stuff your fuzzy warm talk about those two.
His wife isn't proud to be an American. I'd say they WERE listening in that church. I'd say they were CLAPPING AND SINGING ALONG WITH THAT RACISM. Married there, baptized there, children baptized there.
Mr. Wright is STILL "family" - "can't disown" him. I could. I would have twenty years ago. If a white Catholic priest talked like that I would have walked out and called the Pope.
So save your ex-marine sob story. Doesn't wash.

Here - go see Mr. Obama for yourself.

He says he hope he will be a testomony to what is great - not the flag of the united states - which HE NEVER FOUGHT AND PUT HIS LIFE ON THE LINE FOR.

Now she's joking about sniper fire (her foreign policy credentials) and answering the phone at 3 am (her commander-in-chief credentials).

Who on earth is still supporting her? This has gone from sad to flat out pathetic to maddening. She's self-destructing. Why can't she quit throwing mud and just gracefully exit the race?

Nothing unusual for Obama, he is an EXPERT in GUTTER BALL POLITICS as seen most recently in Altoona, Pennsylvania!

THERE ARE SO MANY OF YOU OBAMA SUPPORTERS ASKING THE MEDIA AND OTHERS TO MOVE ON FROM THE IMPASTOR-WRIGHT ISSUE.

WELL HOW 'BOUT YOU SAME FOLKS MOVE ON FROM BILL CLINTON'S MONICA LEWINSKY MISTAKE which happenned more than a decade ago, something that his wife and child (Chelsea) have forgiven him for as well as their supporteres?

Here is the video link of IMPASTOR-WRIGHT "RIDIN' DIRTY" from what is supposed to be a place of worship, a sacred pulpit, what a disgrace!

He is disparaging the Clintons in Dec. of 2007, just before the primary season influencing the change in the black vote with Obama's approval.

Obama appointed Impastor-Wright as the head of the AFRICAN-AMERICAN RELIGIOUS LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE within his campaign:

Not only did I include the Trib link in my e-mail, I moved the note about the writers' background up to the top. I found the Trib story with a google search before seeing the link here.
...and jkallen, I just mentioned Rev. Wright in the top thread at the Fact Checker, so you might want to head over there too.

In 1961, a young African-American man, after hearing President John F. Kennedy's challenge to, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country," gave up his student deferment, left college in Virginia and voluntarily joined the Marines.

In 1963, this man, having completed his two years of service in the Marines, volunteered again to become a Navy corpsman. (They provide medical assistance to the Marines as well as to Navy personnel.)

The man did so well in corpsman school that he was the valedictorian and became a cardiopulmonary technician. Not surprisingly, he was assigned to the Navy's premier medical facility, Bethesda Naval Hospital, as a member of the commander in chief's medical team, and helped care for President Lyndon B. Johnson after his 1966 surgery. For his service on the team, which he left in 1967, the White House awarded him three letters of commendation.

What is even more remarkable is that this man entered the Marines and Navy not many years after the two branches began to become integrated.

While this young man was serving six years on active duty, Vice President Dick Cheney, who was born the same year as the Marine/sailor, received five deferments, four for being an undergraduate and graduate student and one for being a prospective father. Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, both five years younger than the African-American youth, used their student deferments to stay in college until 1968. Both then avoided going on active duty through family connections.

Who is the real patriot? The young man who interrupted his studies to serve his country for six years or our three political leaders who beat the system? Are the patriots the people who actually sacrifice something or those who merely talk about their love of the country?

After leaving the service of his country, the young African-American finished his final year of college, entered the seminary, was ordained as a minister, and eventually became pastor of a large church in one of America's biggest cities.

This man is Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the retiring pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, who has been in the news for comments he made over the last three decades.

Since these comments became public we have heard criticisms, condemnations, denouncements and rejections of his comments and him.

We've seen on television, in a seemingly endless loop, sound bites of a select few of Rev. Wright's many sermons.

Some of the Wright's comments are inexcusable and inappropriate and should be condemned, but in calling him "unpatriotic," let us not forget that this is a man who gave up six of the most productive years of his life to serve his country.

How many of Wright's detractors, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly to name but a few, volunteered for service, and did so under the often tumultuous circumstances of a newly integrated armed forces and a society in the midst of a civil rights struggle? Not many.

While words do count, so do actions.

Let us not forget that, for whatever Rev. Wright may have said over the last 30 years, he has demonstrated his patriotism.
