North Carolina Democratic Debate a No Go

Updated 5:52 p.m.
By Howard Kurtz
It looks like Katie Couric is being shut out on the presidential debate front.

Hillary Clinton had accepted a CBS offer to debate in North Carolina this Sunday, after "60 Minutes," but Barack Obama has turned down the offer and the session was officially called off today.

In political terms, Obama had little incentive for another face-off. He's comfortably ahead in the Tarheel State, and after drawing most of the tough questions in last week's ABC debate in Pennsylvania, he undoubtedly wasn't looking forward to a sequel.

The Clinton camp was quick to respond. Ace Smith, her North Carolina director, said in a statement: "It is unfortunate that Senator Obama has chosen to brush off the people of North Carolina by flatly refusing to debate. But we are willing to move forward with another time and location for the debate so that he has no excuse for not participating."

To which Obama spokesman Dan Leistikow replied, in a statement: "It's unfortunate that the Clinton campaign decided to play politics with this -- especially considering that Senator Obama agreed to a North Carolina debate long before Senator Clinton did, and their campaign took three weeks to consider and ultimately reject that proposal. Their attacks indicate they are really not looking for a debate but any forum to continue their negative, throw-the-kitchen sink campaign."

It is unfortunate that Sen. Clinton thinks Sen. Obama is going to get set up for another bashing. After having debate in which instead of one on one, become three against one, I can't blame Sen. Obama. I am sure that the Senator from Illinois is getting ready to lay out the truth and be honest about not just himself and his ideals that I am sure would make Sen. Clinton realize the errors of her way of politicking. Then again, Sen. Clinton is no politician, but the puppet being maneuvered by her husband, the former President.

The blatant racism of a large proportion of Obama voters has been overlooked.
When 92% of a race vote for their own skin color, that is racism.
Especially since the Clintons' have historic and deep ties to the black community.
How can you say Clinton voters are racist, yet not say Obama voters are worse???

After his atrocious performance in the last debate, Obama who is such an eloquent, Harvard educated orator, has now canceled the NC debate. Among the various excuses offered are: 1) The people have heard it all and don't want more; and, 2) He really wants to get out and "press the flesh" rather than take time to prepare for a debate [wonder how this preparation takes so long when before the PA debate Obama said that he has done the debates so many times that he could give Hillary's answers and she could give his]. The bottom line is that he can't speak without a script and/or teleprompter and can only lose ground if he engages in another debate. She is clearly more qualified.

Thank you Pennsylvania voters! Now, superdelegates, show some courage and vote for Clinton because she is smart enough to lead the country and more importantly, she can win in November, unlike Obama who will be cut in small pieces by the Republican 527's in November.

"It's unfortunate that the Clinton campaign decided to play politics with this... "

Umm, it's a political debate, isn't it?

I love the way this guy spins his unwillingness to stand up to voter scrutiny as "mere politics". Obama's an empty suit with a soaring and vapid stump speech chock full of bromides and platitudes and little else.

I *hate* Hillary Clinton but she would be a better president than this guy. I can't believe I just typed that.

I am going crazy trying to figure out why HRC lied about Tuzla. This is germane to discussion because her poll nos really took a dive after Bosnia. She has not explained herself at all. I can only think of three scenarios 1) she calculatedly lied in order to boost her bona fides thinking she would not get caught--but how could she have thought she would not get caught? 2) she actually thought she was telling the truth--but that's certifiable paranoia (they say she does not read the newspaper or watch news on TV so she may really have thought she had been under fire), 3) her staff wrote her speeches for her and she is so numb from the rigors of this campaign and she was on automatic and just read the speech without really knowing what she was saying. Which one could it be?

Just as a point of information, Hillary did not agree with the first date proposed for the North Carolina debate because it was Passover. She agreed to the 27th quickly after it was proposed by CBS. Everyone has been waiting on Obama to make a decision for weeks, and now less than a week after his poor showing in the last debate, he has decided not to do it.

"Why have another debate," some one asks. Here are several reasons: 1) The issues develop over the course of the campaign, so naturally there are new and valid questions to ask; 2) So far, the debates have not done what they really should do, which is to allow candidates to point up the differences in their proposals and in their qualifications. I was looking forward to a CBS debate because I believe they would ask the right questions and moderate the debate fairly; 3) Ideally it would be nice to have a debate in every state so that people can really learn the details of the candidates' plans.

Hillary excels in the debates because of the breadth and depth of her knowledge on the details of governing.

Obama agreed a long time ago (Hillary never answered), then Hillary suddenly decided to do it, but change the date. She's setting up Obama again. First she demands more debates, then she holds off and doesn't respond until day before Penn primary, changes date and then, at the last minute, criticizes him for not taking her chosen date. I knew girls like this in high school - Hillary is good - unfortunately, this kind of good that makes women everywhere look bad.

Re: Based on the amount of new democratic voters that Barack has brought into this campaign ... John McCain i.e. the Republican machine will lose largely in primary. ************ bamaracist is just barely leading Hillary in the primaries as it is. The republicans voting for him are doing so cause they don't want to face Hillary in the election. Now count these republican voters & the Hillary supporters that will cross over & vote for McCain, bamaracist will never become president!
Get REAL folks, your bamababy will be crying at the end.

MY FELLOW "BITTER", STUPID, WORKING CLASS PEOPLE :-)

If you think like Barack Obama, that WORKING CLASS PEOPLE are just a bunch of "BITTER"!, STUPID, PEASANTS, Cash COWS!, and CANNON FODDER. :-(

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think Barack Obama with little or no experience would be better than Hillary Clinton with 35 years experience.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can fix an economy on the verge of collapse better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) led the greatest economic expansion, and prosperity in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience fighting for universal health care can get it for you better than Hillary Clinton. Who anticipated this current health care crisis back in 1993, and fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds to get universal health care for all the American people.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can manage, and get us out of two wars better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) went to war only when he was convinced that he absolutely had to. Then completed the mission in record time against a nuclear power. AND DID NOT LOSE THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMERICAN SOLDIER. NOT ONE!

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience saving the environment is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) left office with the greatest amount of environmental cleanup, and protections in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with little or no education experience is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) made higher education affordable for every American. And created higher job demand and starting salary's than they had ever been before or since.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience will be better than Hillary Clinton who spent 8 years at the right hand of President Bill Clinton. Who is already on record as one of the greatest Presidents in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that you can change the way Washington works with pretty speeches from Obama, rather than with the experience, and political expertise of two master politicians ON YOUR SIDE like Hillary and Bill Clinton..

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think all those Republicans voting for Obama in the Democratic primaries, and caucuses are doing so because they think he is a stronger Democratic candidate than Hillary Clinton. :-)

Best regards

jacksmith... Working Class :-)

p.s. You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you don't know that the huge amounts of money funding the Obama campaign to try and defeat Hillary Clinton is coming in from the insurance, and medical industry, that has been ripping you off, and killing you and your children. And denying you, and your loved ones the life saving medical care you needed. All just so they can make more huge immoral profits for them-selves off of your suffering...

You see, back in 1993 Hillary Clinton had the audacity, and nerve to try and get quality, affordable universal health care for everyone to prevent the suffering and needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of you each year. :-)

Approx. 100,000 of you die each year from medical accidents from a rush to profit by the insurance, and medical industry. Another 120,000 of you die each year from treatable illness that people in other developed countries don't die from. And I could go on, and on...

MORE BS FROM THE CLINTON CAMP!

Barack Obama is not brushing off the people of North Carolina. Unless local TV stations in the Tarheel State blacked out all of those other debates that have been conducted, voters in North Carolina have had plenty of opportunity to hear where the candidates stand on the issues (with the exception of that last farce that ABC advertised as a "debate" where issues and fairness were not part of the plan.

Hillary remains desperate, and desperate candidates always clamor for more debates. I don't have any numbers available to prove this, but surely the Democrats have broken a record for the number of debates held by candidates from one party during any primary season in our history. If anyone wants to complain about not having a debate in North Carolina (and I can't imagine why anyone in their right mind would) perhaps you should adress your concerns to ABC.

The NC Dem Party cancelled the debate because the DNC told them to cancel it. The DNC couldn't take the chance that their wonder child would be exposed again so soon. I've voted dem for 40 years, I consider myself to be a liberal (some friend's say radical liberal) dem but I have finally had it with the "elitist" liberal wing of the dem party. Over the last 10 months I have lost all respect for most of the "liberal" members of the dem party because of their petty confrontations with each other and the members with more centrist philosophies. My veiws haven't become more centrist, just my approach on how to get extremely important legislation moving thru the political meatgrinder. Whether shes on the ballot or not my vote will be for Sen Clinton (warts and all) because I believe she is by far the best person to lead this country out of gutter its been draged into by GWB and the reb party. Sen OBama does not have the skills to adress the problems we face. As the last debate showed "The Emporer has no clothes"

American politics offer no real debate. They provide kindergarden and playground name calling for immature audiences and National Enquirere readers. To witness real debates look to the masters of the spoken word we see in British Debates and in Canadian politics. American politicians only portray their childish behaviour towards one another in the center ring of a three ring circus.

I'm so tired of all this vituperation. It would be nice if we could all act like grownups. However, people who are "scared to death" usually don't act like grownups. After all, we all want the same thing in the end. A country that at least tries to live up to its ideals; a person at the helm that we can respect and at least minimally trust. I suspect too much of this dialog has been written by people who are trying to keep us all divided. This reminds me too much of a high school president election. The trouble is - it's a whole lot more important to us than that. While it's true that I would like Obama to win because I just like the tone of his campaigning and his stated goals better, I am a democrat at heart and I want a democrat to win the election in November.

It's always amusing when I read these articles followed by the comments. Obama has enjoyed for most of this campaign what has amounted to a free ride by the press. (CNN, MSNBC, Huffington Post, and others) Obama has used his campaign personnel to undermine Clintons campaign and then pretended he is above all the negative. Since the Rev.Wright issue exploded onto the scene, his campaign has been crying foul daily. They are pathetic, but what his supporters should really be concerned about is that he is quick on blame and short on solutions. Personally, he is the type of manager I fire very quickly.
Clinton has a far better plan for an economic recovery, a national healthcare plan that avoids being nothing more then a windfall for insurance companies. Those are just two of the important issues that all of us should be concerned about. Yet, Obama supporters along with organization like MoveOn and activist like Michael Moore are only concerned with the attacks leveled at Obama, many of which deserve to be scrutinized by the American people, not spun around to appear like Obama's opponents are merely picking on him. No matter what happens, if Obama becomes the candidate, I will never understand how my fellow Americans could be so foolish.

The Billary group will use anyissue to make Barack and we supporters bad........ Clintonistas - the math is not there. Are you willing to sacrifice the party for the Clinton selfishness? I am no longer a Bill Clinton supporter - they have shown their true colors with the campaign. I want someone in the WH who cares about their ethics and our countries integrity. The Clinton's are not showing that they care - they only care about themselves.

OBAMA IS TOO CHICKEN TO DEBATE CLINTON IN N.C. BECAUSE HE IS AFRAID OF SAYING SOMETHING OFFENSIVE TO VOTERS LIKE, "AMERICANS ARE BITTER AND CLING TO GUNS AND RELIGION AND HAVE ANTIPATHY TOWARD OTHERS DIFFERENT FROM THEMSELVES."

OBAMA'S CGANGE IS TO RADICAL FOR AMERICANS.

Posted by: GRACE | April 22, 2008 11:03 AM | Report abuse

CLINTON IS THE DAVID AND OBAMA IS THE GOLIATH. HE JUST SPENT $20 MILLION JUST TO LOSE A PENNSYLVANIA PRIMARY. NOW THAT'S HISTORY.

OBAMA WAS BOUGHT AND PAID FOR YEARS AGO BY AUCHI, REZKO, OPRAH,KENNEDY, AL GORE, PELOSI AND GEORGE SOROS TO BE THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE FOR DICK CHENEY'S ENERGY BILL. THE DNC WANTED A 50 STATE PRIMARY TO BRING OUT NEW REGISTERED DEM VOTERS.

COAL OR SHALE OR MOUNTAINTOP MINING CAN BE VERY LUCRATIVE IN MONTANA, S.D.,N.D. IDAHO, COLORADO, & PENNSYLVANIA.

6 RED STATES GOVERNORS GOT TOGETHER WITH NANCY PELOSI AND SAID WE WILL GET DEMS THE HOUSE AND SENATE BUT YOU MUST GET US DICK CHENEY'S ENERGY BILL PASSED. TOGETHER WE WILL GET THE SENATE AND CONGRESS MAJORITY TOGETHER. NANCY PELOSI- 60 IN THE CONGRESS AND HARRY REID- 20 MORE DEMOCRATS IN THE SENATE.

1. TO GET THE SAME TAX BREAKS THAT OIL COMPANIES GET.
2.WITH OIL GOING TOWARDS $120 A BARREL THIS STRIP MINING CAN BE LUCRATIVE BUT RELEASES AND IS COSTLY.
3. GORE HAS A CLEAN COAL DICK CHENEY ENERGY BILL SIGNED BY OBAMA. IT REQUIRES ELECTRICITY TO BE PRODUCED 20% BY WIND, SOLAR, AND ALTERNATIVE ENERGY. COAL WHICH IS OUR CHEAPEST FORM OF ELECTRICITY IS THE MOST WIDELY USED.

THIS SOUNDS GOOD ON PAPER BUT IT COULD COST AMERICAN TRIPLE OR QUADRUPLE OUR ELECTRIC BILL. SO FOLKS COULD HAVE A $400 ELECTRIC BILL INSTEAD OF A $100. THINK ENRON. AMERICANS FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES ARE ALREADY REELING FROM $4.00 GAS PRICES.

COAL STATES WANT THE SUBSITIES AND TAX BREAKS. BUT TEARING ALL THE TREES OFF A MOUNTAIN AND GRINDING SHALE INTO ENERGY POLLUTES MORE WATER AND RELEASES MORE CARBON GASES THAN IT'S WORTH FOR ENVIROMENTALISTS. SHELL TRIED IT IN 1980.

OPRAH PROMOTED THE INCONVENIENT LIE BUT AMERICANS ARE NOT FOOLED.

AMERICANS ARE SO BITTER THEY CLING TO GUNS AND CLING TO RELIGION AND HAVE HAVE ANTIPATHY FOR THOSE OTHER THAN THEMSELVES.
NOW OBAMA INSULTED THE GUNS AND RELIGION FOLKS IN ALL THE COAL STATES SO THEY WON'T VOTE FOR HIM NOW. THESE WERE THE VERY PEOPLE THAT WERE PROMISED LONG AGO TO PELOSI AND REID. ALL THE MOUNTAIN COAL STATES ARE LEFT AND WHITE MALES STILL WON'T VOTE FOR HIM AND NOW HAVE REASON NOT TO BECAUSE OF HIS DISTAINFUL COMMENT.

Why is it not surprising that Barack has reneged on his previous commitment to debate in NC? Look back at his performance during and in the aftermath of the ABC debate. Barack's true nature is being unmasked as he reacts angrily and petulantly to those who question his authenticity, leadership potential, judgment, and claims to be above politics as usual. His arrogance and ambition, evident to some from the outset, are manifesting themselves to others as they reappraise his decision to run for the presidency while only a first-year U.S. Senator, his recent assertion that he had more foreign policy expertise than McCain and Clinton, and his condescending comments that stereotype blue collar workers in PA as "clinging" to religion, guns, and racist and xenophobic attitudes.

While Barack's inexperience is a concern for those who think our country should be led by someone more seasoned, it has also been of considerable advantage to him. He comes to the race not only with a modest record of relevant experience but also, in consequence, with little baggage that others can exploit to construct his public persona. With a blank slate for a record, he has greater latitude to portray himself in ways that appeal to voters, and voters in turn are able to project their own values, needs and hopes onto him. The Barack his supporters know is a concept they have helped form. The concept integrates notions of hope, unification, idealism, transcendence over politics, etc. which his campaign has been selling. For many months Barack was able to help cultivate and act out that concept. But as the race has become tighter and some of the press has begun to rake over his past, his façade has begun to disintegrate. Even as he accuses his opponent of disingenuousness, distortions, and "throwing the kitchen sink ... and buffet" at him, he is engaging in the very negative behavior of which he is accusing her, and worse. It is ironic that his supporters and the DNC leadership are exerting pressure on Hillary to end her campaign out of fear that she will hurt him. The facts are that he has damaged himself by not having been forthright about his past, by being hypocritical, and by having the audacity to believe that he is the "chosen" candidate who deserves to be shielded from questioning, criticism, and, yes, an all-American competition between equals. Indeed, the concept of Barack Obama has begun to unravel, revealing the politician as usual!

Of course Obama doesn't want more debates. Now that the moderators actually asked him questions instead of letting him repeat his stump speech he is afraid.
Actually it is not the media who stereotyped him black. He goes to an all black church, probably got into the university as black and he has the right to call everyone racist who says something negative about him. It is a huge advantage, specially within the Democratic Party. Probably it won't work in the general election but it will be too late..

Almanac Kid,

There are a lot of people coming back from Iraq right now looking awfully like those armless and legless people from the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan, except that the people coming back from Iraq aren't the product of special effects and makeup.

Perhaps you should drop by Iraq for a week or so to see if the real thing matches up to your Hollywood vision of war.

Call it an "occupation," call it a "police action," call it a "war," call it a "conflict," call it a "military engagement," call it whatever you want. In the end, the labels don't mean much because the reality is that people are fighting and dying...and that Clinton voted for it.

If you think that the fighting and dying is for a worthy cause, then Clinton's flip-flop as she started gearing up to run for president is reason enough not to vote for her. If you don't think we ever had any reason to be in Iraq, then you probably don't have any reason to vote for Clinton either given her initial support for the war.

In fact, if the war is an important issue at all in your mind, the only reason for voting for Clinton is if you believe that good foreign policy involves throwing the US military into a conflict and then backing up to say, "Oops, I made a mistake." I guess this shows that Hillary is human.

Unfortunately for her, she is about the last human I'd like to see in the White House.

Obama running away from a debate?! Hardly.

The Hillary supporters who want another debate can't name two things of national importance that was discussed at the ABC "debate". (It was more of a "debacle" than debate). The only thing I can hearing is that Hillary won, Hillary won. What did she win? I think John McCain and the RNC won that ABC "debacle".

Now that the news is out that Hillary is running out of cash (AGAIN!), Obama should not be abliged to give her free TV time. If she wants to continue campaigning she should do so. I would prefer that Obama spend time in Indiana, North Carolina, Oregon, Kentucky, and South Dakota, like he did in Pennslyvania, to introduce himself to the electorate for the general election.

Surely Obama has learned by now that honesty has no place in American politics.
Lying, cheating, conniving, say and do whatever it takes to win is the norm in Washington and Hillary is a sterling example of this assessment.
We have fought two wars since the sixties in an attempt to free people; lost one and losing the other.
Time to fight a war at home to free us from the slave mentality that still exists in America. I'm sure the world is looking hard at the democratic presidential race which is wrought with racism and America at it's best at what it does best---divide and conquer by color.
White folks have made a mess of not just the USA but the world. Obama can only go up because we are as low as we can go. Gooooooooo Barack.
Save this wretched nation from itself.
Hillary said, you can't choose your family, but you can choose your pastor. Had it not been for her political ambition, I'm sure she would not have chosen Bill. But again, in politics, you do what you gotta do---to hell with morals or ethics.

This is Hillary Clinton: Whitewater, Travelgate, Monica Lewinsky and impeachment, renting out the Lincoln bedroom, the loss of the Rose Law Firm billing records for nearly 2 years until they were miraculously found in the White House living quarters, removing files from Vince Foster's office following his suicide and before investigators could get there. Her refusal to release her earmark requests from her time in the Senate, as well as her Clinton library donors. Her sell out apology to the African American community (for her campaigns racist comments) which came days too late. Her decline to return $170,000 in campaign contributions from individuals at International Profit Associates, or IPA accused of widespread sexual harassment, and whose CEO is a disbarred lawyer with a criminal record. Lets not forget her campaign eventually returned some $850,000 to Hong Kong businessman Norman Hsu who was found to be a fugitive in a 15-year old theft case. He was indicted for fraud related to his campaign contributions in 2007. Her failed inclusion and diplomacy with congress on her once universal health care bid. Her subsequent surrender and alignment to the health care industry (second largest recipient in the Senate of health care industry contributions). Her disguise on NAFTA and all free trade agreements. Her conscious vote for war in Iraq. Her blatant flip flop on Florida and Michigan. Her repetitive lies about sniper fire in Bosnia. Her exaggerated foreign policy experience. Her dealing the race card better than Republicans. Clinton photo and prayer breakfast with Rev Wright. Clinton photo with Rezko. Her failure to get the endorsement of close friend Bill Richardson. Her miserable failure to manage her own campaign (and husband). Her charlatan flip flop on pledged delegates and superdelegates by encouraging party elite to vote against the will of the people - "I believe strongly that in a democracy, we should respect the will of the people and to me, that means it's time to do away with the Electoral College and move to the popular election of our president." - Hillary Clinton in 2000

Hillarites need to start explaining their campaign connections with Farrakhan. Why is their chief supporter in PA a strong supporter of Farrakhan? Why hasn't Hillary renounced and denounced him? Why the double standard--AGAIN?

Just like the Columbia trade deal, Hillary will say one thing while her campaign surrogates are doing another. The deceit is endless.

A quick survey of the comments on ABC's website following the debate showed a majority of about 75% to 80% of people thought the debate was a debacle. If Clinton's supporters want to argue that all those people are Obama supporters, then go ahead. Obama will be very happy to have three quarters of the American people voting for him.

Somehow I think most of those Hillarites refuse to see the clear logic in their whines.

What a coward! Surely this man is not fit to be president. If he cannot take the heat, he should get out of the kitchen.

He would deny the people of North Carolina the chance to make a comparison between him and Hillary because he is scared to death that he might be questioned again for things he had not yet fully explained.

One look at his expression during the Philly debate says it all: he's a spoiled little boy who's gonna take his ball and run home if things don't go his way. How will that play out on the world stage? If he can't stand up to this small challenge from an unpopular opponent, he truly is a wimp.

He needs to have another try. He couldn't be any worse than he was last week. Maybe they would let him use his teleprompter and ole Axelrod could provide answers.
He could use that governor he xeroxs. A proxy might do.

He does have a sneaky middle finger. What a low life. How childish for a grown man be.

Why should Obama give Shrillary free air time? She's broke since she ran her campaign into the ground. Let her use some of her $100 million to put out her spin and baloney. Clearly, her 'fans' don't want to fund the wind tunnel anymore.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You would think by now those Obamanites would learn to not count their chickens before they hatch. It would be awful to get beat by a broke lady.
For "supposedly" educated folks they sure are slow learners.

"The Finger" Obama has outspent her, what, 3 or 4 to 1. Wow, that is on tough lady. If he had as much balls as her I might vote for him.

Maybe someone could ask Obama why he's afraid of Katie Couric. Just make sure to give him time to finish his waffle first.

Hillary CANNOT win even if you toss in Florida and/or Michigan. She needs a 28% percent victory in Pennslyviania to even dream about it... Read the article:

Another "convienent" diversion from Obama, just like snipping two entire states(FLA and MI) from voting in the primaries.

Obama gets asked tough questions and he tries to change the subject to some ObamaCult speech.

This is the same type of thing he would do in the whitehouse, and then blame it on our system, saying "we need change".

Perhaps Obama can change our American Flag to something else, oh and pave over Arlington cemetery while he's at it, since "they died for the wrong ideals" and are just part of the same old racist piggetry.

Please.

A bunch of ObamaCult 1d10ts are going to destroy America.

OBAMA: And, you know, the notion that somehow that the American people are going to be distracted once again by comments not made by me, but somebody who is associated with me that I have disowned, I think doesn't give the American people enough credit.

STEPHANOPOULOS: You've disowned him?

OBAMA: The comments, comments that I've disowned. Then that is not something I...

What comments did Obama specifically disown? Will we ever know?

Posted by: NoBama | April 21, 2008 7:03 PM | Report abuse

Obama would be a fool to give any more glimpses of the man behind he curtain. Philadelphia was not pretty for him. He'd best stick to teleprompted speeches where he is not forced to think on his feet.

In response to LonewackoDotCom:

I thought the ABC debate questions were tough. Tough to listen to. I am very pro Hillary but give me a break. The first question in that debate was whether or not they would run their opponent as VP; and it wasn't even directed at any specific candidate. It just went downhill from there. The whole debate was a joke and crafted to show Obama was the shoe-in nominee and Clinton just hanging around for the heck of it.

As usual, Clinton got screwed and wasn't asked any questions compared to Obama. They even mentioned it at one point, she acknowledged and they continued to ignore her. She had no choice but to jump on Obama, what else was she supposed to do? Just stand there and be invisible?

Bringing up Bosnia was out of line, it had already been discussed, same goes for most of the Obama questions. I am sick and tired of watching Clinton be ignored week after week in the media. She has no choice but to go negative, if she didn't we would forget she was running.

The MSM hacks saying that the questions were "tough" and "fair" are pathetic. Defending Gibson and Stephanopolous is pathetic. The questions were lame, the debate was a joke, Clinton got screwed as usual, and 70% of the people voting on websites said Obama won. Give me a break!

Barack Obama will do well in the Pennslyvania primary however he will win North Carolina and Indiana.

That said, I trust this will be enough for the Obama haters to hang up their Hillary signs and get on the winning team!

The right-wingers are already coming out against Obama because they know what Hillary and her supporters refuse to accept....Barack Obama will be the next president of the United States.

Based on the amount of new democratic voters that Barack has brought into this campaign ... John McCain i.e. the Republican machine will lose largely in primary.

Go Bama, Go Bama! Straight to the Whitehouse!

It's Time For A Change!

Posted by: Robin Miles | April 21, 2008 6:33 PM | Report abuse

He's not brushing off anyone. Hillary can't win. She can only damage the Party and help the Republicans by staying in the race. The last series of debates have been stupid and uninformative. Why give Clinton a platform when she's lost. Ignore her, maybe she'll go away!

Posted by: Anonymous | April 21, 2008 5:46 PM | Report abuse

Katie actually seems likable, but does anyone honestly think she would have asked real questions? And, the only people who think the questions in the ABC debate were "tough" are Obama partisans and MSM hacks.

Something that would be tough would be to ask him why he lied about Lou Dobbs, or about the huge glaring flaws in his proposals, or about this:

http://nomoreblather.com/barack-obama-and-the-immigration-marches

If anyone wants a real debate, don't count on the MSM to provide it. We're going to need to go to the candidates' appearances with video cameras, ask them the questions the MSM is too corrupt to ask, and then upload their responses to Youtube. In addition to bringing some degree of honesty back to the presidential race, it will also expose the MSM for the hacks they are.
