Obama Debate Complaints Greeted by Clinton Mockery

By Perry Bacon Jr.
RADNOR TOWNSHIP, Pa.-- A day after Barack Obama complained about the questions he was asked Wednesday at a Democratic presidential primary debate, Hillary Clinton mocked him.

"I know some of my opponents' supporters and my opponent are complaining about the hard questions, but having been in the White House for eight years ... that was nothing," Clinton said at a rally at a high school in this Philadelphia suburb. "I'm with Harry Truman on this: If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Just speaking for myself, I'm very comfortable in the kitchen."

Clinton had earlier told the FOX 29 Morning Show in Philadelphia "We need a president who is going to be there fighting for the American people and not complaining about how much pressure there is."

"I know he spent all day yesterday complaining about the hard questions he was asked," Clinton said. "Being asked tough questions in a debate is nothing like the pressures you face inside the White House."

Clinton has loudly complained about the press and the questions she received in earlier debates, lamenting during one that she was constantly asked the first question and that reporters were too soft on Obama.

"Her blatant hypocrisy here is stunning," said Bill Burton, an Obama spokesman.

OBAMA SCARES ME. I think he hates America and everything we stand for in this country. He's really good at flashing his winning smile and telling people what they want to hear, but the truth is he is no friend to America!

It's encouraging to me to see so many Democrats echoing those same sentiments. It gives me hope that he hasn't fooled everyone.

I read twenty-six pages of a ....I don't know what to call it but it DEFINITELY was NOT a debate. PA votes are coming up and everyone was looking forward to a GOOD debate between these candidates before that due time, and George and Charlie screwed it all up. Page after page I was beginning to WONDER where The Substance was going to be introduced. Instead, I got associates and flag pins. Some issues weren't even brought up. The entire show should've been about the issues, what's going to be done for this country.

Those were stupid questions. I couldn't believe it. The flag pin question should've been replaced by a substantive question. That was a waste of a question for the debate among others. George and Charlie screwed up a potentially good debate. They sure did.

Obama, continue to move forward.

Why are the Obama supporters complaining about the debate? Obama and Clinton are running on the same platform, agreeing on maybe 98% of the issues. Also, we have seen 20+ debates already, so it was refreshing to see a debate about character. C'mon, Obama supporters don't be so militant.

DON'T BE DUPED !!!

Large numbers of Republicans have been voting for Barack Obama in the DEMOCRATIC primaries, and caucuses from early on. Because they feel he would be a weaker opponent against John McCain. With Hillary Clinton you are almost 100% certain to get quality, affordable universal health care very soon.

But first, all of you have to make certain that Hillary Clinton takes the democratic nomination and then the Whitehouse. NOW! is the time. THIS! is the moment you have all been working, and waiting for. You can do this America. "Carpe diem" (harvest the day).

I think Hillary Clinton see's a beautiful world of plenty for all. She's a woman, and a mother. And it's time America. Do this for your-selves, and your children's future. You will have to work together on this and be aggressive, relentless, and creative. Americans face an even worse catastrophe ahead than the one you are living through now.

You see, the medical and insurance industry mostly support the republicans with the money they ripped off from you. And they don't want you to have quality, affordable universal health care. They want to be able to continue to rip you off, and kill you and your children by continuing to deny you life saving medical care that you have already paid for. So they can continue to make more immoral profits for them-selves.

Hillary Clinton has actually won by much larger margins than the vote totals showed. And lost by much smaller vote margins than the vote totals showed. Her delegate count is actually much higher than it shows. And higher than Obama's. She also leads in the electoral college numbers that you must win to become President in the November national election. HILLARY CLINTON IS ALREADY THE TRUE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE!

As much as 30% of Obama's primary, and caucus votes are Republicans trying to choose the weakest democratic candidate for McCain to run against. These Republicans have been gaming the caucuses where it is easier to vote cheat. This is why Obama has not been able to win the BIG! states primaries. Even with Republican vote cheating help.

Hillary Clinton has been OUT MANNED! OUT GUNNED! and OUT SPENT! 4 and 5 to 1. Yet Obama has only been able to manage a very tenuous, and questionable tie with Hillary Clinton.

If Obama is the democratic nominee for the national election in November he will be slaughtered. Because the Republican vote cheating help will suddenly evaporate. All of this vote fraud and republican manipulation has made Obama falsely look like a much stronger candidate than he really is. YOUNG PEOPLE. DON'T BE DUPED! Think about it. You have the most to lose.

The democratic party needs to fix this outrage. Everyone needs to throw all your support to Hillary Clinton NOW! So you can end this outrage against YOU the voter, and against democracy.

The democratic party, and the super-delegates have a decision to make. Are the democrats, and the democratic party going to choose the DEMOCRATIC party nominee to fight for the American people. Or are the republicans going to choose the DEMOCRATIC party nominee through vote fraud, and gaming the DEMOCRATIC party primaries, and caucuses.

Fortunately the Clinton's have been able to hold on against this fraudulent outrage with those repeated dramatic comebacks of Hillary Clinton's. Only the Clinton's are that resourceful, and strong. Hillary Clinton is your NOMINEE. They are the best I have ever seen.

"This is not a game" (Hillary Clinton)

MY FELLOW "BITTER", STUPID, WORKING CLASS PEOPLE :-)

If you think like Barack Obama, that WORKING CLASS PEOPLE are just a bunch of "BITTER"!, STUPID, PEASANTS, Cash COWS!, and CANNON FODDER. :-(

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think Barack Obama with little or no experience would be better than Hillary Clinton with 35 years experience.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can fix an economy on the verge of collapse better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) led the greatest economic expansion, and prosperity in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience fighting for universal health care can get it for you better than Hillary Clinton. Who anticipated this current health care crisis back in 1993, and fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds to get universal health care for all the American people.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can manage, and get us out of two wars better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) went to war only when he was convinced that he absolutely had to. Then completed the mission in record time against a nuclear power. AND DID NOT LOSE THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMERICAN SOLDIER. NOT ONE!

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience saving the environment is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) left office with the greatest amount of environmental cleanup, and protections in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with little or no education experience is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) made higher education affordable for every American. And created higher job demand and starting salary's than they had ever been before or since.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience will be better than Hillary Clinton who spent 8 years at the right hand of President Bill Clinton. Who is already on record as one of the greatest Presidents in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that you can change the way Washington works with pretty speeches from Obama, rather than with the experience, and political expertise of two master politicians ON YOUR SIDE like Hillary and Bill Clinton..

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think all those Republicans voting for Obama in the Democratic primaries, and caucuses are doing so because they think he is a stronger Democratic candidate than Hillary Clinton. :-)

Best regards

jacksmith... Working Class :-)

p.s. You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you don't know that the huge amounts of money funding the Obama campaign to try and defeat Hillary Clinton is coming in from the insurance, and medical industry, that has been ripping you off, and killing you and your children. And denying you, and your loved ones the life saving medical care you needed. All just so they can make more huge immoral profits for them-selves off of your suffering...

You see, back in 1993 Hillary Clinton had the audacity, and nerve to try and get quality, affordable universal health care for everyone to prevent the suffering and needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of you each year. :-)

Approx. 100,000 of you die each year from medical accidents from a rush to profit by the insurance, and medical industry. Another 120,000 of you die each year from treatable illness that people in other developed countries don't die from. And I could go on, and on...

Obama complains about how mean they were to him in Wed. debate. Yet they still have not unveiled so many of the really ugly truths about Obama. My guess is the media is saving it to help McCain, bury Obama come Nov.
For the Blacks, and all of the so called intelligent college grads, and upper income people, who think Obama, is your hero, WAKE UP. He wrote letters on behalf of his good friend Rezko, syrian born with lots of friends whom were in tight with Saddam. Rezko took on a Black silent partner, so that he could get the grants intended for the minorities to rehab buildings in Obama's District. Rezko received 100 million dollars to rehab 30 buildings. That's 3.3 million per building. 11 of these buildings were in Obama's district. Obama's pal Rezko, did some repairs on the cheap side. He never bothered to repair the heating systems and people did not have any heat that winter. Obama denies knowing anything about this. This is a small district that you can easily walk, and there is NO WAY, that someone living, or working, in the area, would NOT know about the slums, that the Govt would soon board up, and condemn, and even foreclose on. What happened to the 3.3 Million DOLLARS that should have gone to rehab each building. Rezko received the 100 million with the help of Obama. He denies knowing Rezko that well. I wonder what kind of money he would help someone he truly knew. HYMMMM.
Compare this to, Bill Clinton, giving Harlem NY grants, and today its a beautiful, neighborhood, with many new condo's, businesses, offices, stores and restaurants.
If Obama, cannot see to it, that things run properly, in his very small District, than how does he expect to run an entire Country.

Obama isn't fooling the people who pay attention to his race-baiting, back-stabbing, behind the scenes despicable attempt to smear anyone who gets in his way. This man is a product of people who have some pretty awful agendas.
Thank you ABC for your excellent debate. I saw another time, the round about way Obama speaks and never says a thing.

I mean, what about the people who really want to hear him? I think he is afraid that someone might ask him a question he can't answer, or um's his way thru, I mean my God, he cries about the heat from the debate now he's afraid of those racist gun-toting, God fearing, typical white people?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I too was frustrated by the inane questions. If the absence of a flag pin is deemed important, though, then why was Senator Clinton not asked why she was not wearing one during the debate? That to me speaks volumes about the lack of quality of the moderators.

Bill Clinton had Charlie Gibson's daughter do 'internship' in his Oral office. George Stephanopolis was taking care of Hillary while Bill Clinton was working on Monica. Now these two jokers were put as 'moderators' for the debate. What a democratic and unbiased system our country has in the process of electing our officials for office. Now we have Hillary hanging around with some pasty white thighed altar boys in mocking Obama.

George Stepanopolis was curious about our economy when he asked Obama the following question:

Senator Obama, why are you not wearing a lapel pin of an American flag made in China? How are you planning to improve the economy of China if you don't buy those lapel pins?

At the same time George complemented Hillary on her dresscode.

Senator Hillary, thank you for wearing the Armani pantsuits made in Italy. Thank you also for wearing those pearls imported from Japan. Thank you for promoting world trade.

This comment line should be preserved for posterity. I think it epitomizes everything that is wrong with American politics.

Democrats, please calm down and don't blow this election. Don't let Hannity, Rove, and Limbaugh - or Stephanopoulos and Gibson for that matter - decide our primary election agenda. Run on positives - the actual programs you support and what you would do if you were elected. Accept the election results.

At this point, Hillary is too far behind to win. Trying to win "ugly" is only making a large number of people like her even less. Look at the polls, people! Obama's positives have gone down, but Clinton's went down even more. This is the classic case of the crabs in the pot grabbing the one crawling out and dragging it back in.

Stop the Drama. Vote Obama.

If only we had known that issuing flag lapel pins to all Americans (and requiring that they wear them at all times) would solve all of our problems - all from little red, white and blue pins made in China!

Of course, that "issue," plus aging 60s radicals, Rev. Wright, and "Bitter-gate" (along with "Sniper-gate" and your negative poll rankings on the question of truthfulness) are crucial questions that should take up the first half of a critical campaign debate.

Thanks for your laser-like focus on the real campaign issues, Senator Clinton. You are an inspiring leader, ready on Day One.

The reason the Republican Party do not have superdelegates is because they choose not to.

They think the way that we do things are stupid.

If we had the same system as the Republicans, under their guidelines, then Hillary would already be the nominee.

The reason we do have superdelegates is because in 1980 Kennedy took Carter to the convention - the way Hillary is planning - and contested the electoral votes. The votes were slightly in favor of Carter so they gave the nomination to Carter. Basically, the party felt in their heart that that was not the right thing to do. So what they did is they came up with the idea of the superdelegates and the condition of their vote was supposed to be that they vote for who is the best person for the party, the nomination, and most likely to win in the General. Their entire purpose was not to vote as the electoral votes indicates or the popular votes indicate, they are supposed to consider what is best for the party.

That is why it is so interesting, which so many of these young people don't understand, is that Kennedy went with Obama. Things that make you go hhmmmn. Still has a little bit of a grudge I guess.

Yes, there was no sniper flying around Clinton in Bosnia. But that place was a troubled zone, and never in recent past a first lady visited such a troubled foreign place. That is just sufficient to understand her guts. Old Clinton administration people around Obama know that well. But they simply use to diminish her - dishonestly.

Why talk about Bosnia, even in her own home country, being a first lady, she had been asked to wear bullet proof vest during her bus campaign in 1994.

Those who complain of tough questions to Obama, should remember the attacks Hillary endured during her public life. Read about her in Wikipedia. Her run for presidency has never been a fairy tale.

Great recent post that sums it up:

HOW TO COMPLETELY BLOW A PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN.

This will be taught in communication and political science classes starting next spring. She will be forever remembered in history as the modern day Tortoise and Hare Story.

Hare expected to win without a doubt
Hare loses first race and places third
Hare regroups and barely wins 3rd race
Hare loses races 4-15
Hare attempts to change into Duck/Image Change
Hare turns nasty/Interjects race
Race backfires on Hare/Hare cries
Hare's crying wins next race
Hare attempts to change into Eagle/Image Change 3
Tortoise takes lead and never looks back
Hare attempts to change rules of race
Hare changes back and says it's a real Hare
Hare lies and says it was shot at while running
Hare lies about hospital patients
Hare lies about Irish Peace Plans
Hare lies about shooting guns
Hare's right hand image maker has MAJOR conflict of interest
Hare doesn't fire right hand image maker/demotes him
Hare lies about going to church
Hare gets other Hares to help gang up on the tortoise to slow him down
(Doesn't work)
Americans are tired of the hare

Tortoise wins, all with a smile on his face

Ahhhhhh, the silly season of politics

Reading these comments I begin to understand how a man like Bush managed to be elected TWICE to the highest office in America.

Rational thought is buried under junior high school insults and serious debate is made impossible as people stop thinking and talking feeling that it is appropriate to respond with pat platitudes and mud slinging.

Doesn't anyone realize that this immature behavior has cost the American people dearly? Our children are dying in a war that was begun without seriously looking at the information available, our homes are being taken by the banks who offered loans that were unpayable, our high priced health care system excludes the middle class who cannot afford insurance, college tuitions are out of the reach of the middle class, gas prices are cutting into food budgets and jobs are being cut in ever increasing waves...

We need someone who can address these issues and bring the country together to solve them before we face another Great Depression. For those of you who missed the last one... it's an experience you can do without.

Whether that person is a Democrat or a Republican, wears a skirt, a pants suit, a sports jacket or a toupee, drinks beer or soda pop... is irrelevant.

Whether that person can command enough respect to cross party lines and get things done is what we need to know.

Lapel pins and husbands who are unfaithful are tabloid fodder that takes attention from the real issues and brings on emotional outbursts. Take care, America, if you don't vote carefully this time around, you will pay for it even more than you are now...

The whaaaaah-cry-baby-Obamadrones are sheep, okay.

For heavens sake, don't you get it? He is a charlatin!

Don't you think we want the best democrat too?

Don't you think that we did consider him?

He has gone against everything he said he stood for.

He has no substance.

He ridiculed Hillary when she had true emotion about caring for this country.

Everyone tries to so "oh, he is so cool" WTF? Are you kidding me? He has no composure! The way he has completely fallen apart and attacking Hillary, we can only imagine what he does and says about her and us who support her behind closed doors. Oh yeah, we now know what he thinks about us.

This loose cannon is supposed to have his finger on the button? Representing us?

Beyond the fact that he clearly was not able to answer any of the questions with any detail. Beyond the fact that he lied to us three different times. Even trying to get away with saying that he had something like completely denounced/divorced himself from Rev. Wright - and when George questioned him on it - he backed tracked; for heavens sake, that was a major part of his supposedly great Race Speech saying how he could NOT denounce Rev. Wright. He is so used to lying and all his sheep sucking it up that he simply cannot control himself.

I read that he spent the entire day before held up in a hotel room - preparing. Hillary, spent the entire day before and day of --- AT EVENTS!!! People!!!! WAKE-UP!!!

The superdelegates have no, you know whats, and they are afraid to do what they should, they just want to be re-elected and they are terrified of what they saw the Obamadrones do yesterday by attacking ABC, George, and Charles. You have to contact them and tell them why we need Hillary and not Obama!

Also, he talks so much gibberish that you can barely understand him when he does talk, he gave three different answers on taxes. PEOPLE HE WANTS TO RAISE THE SS TAX!

People are saying well, if the superdelegates "take it away from Obama" - well, you know what - they are NOT "taking it away from Obama" because even after all the people who now want their votes for him back, all the biased media, all the millions and millions of $$$'s he has spent - HE STILL CANNOT GET TO THE MAGIC 2024!!!!

If the superdelegates do "give it to Obama" then you can guarantee that I will vote Republican! I completely breaks my heart, let me tell you, but clearly Obama would be a worse choice.

People you must speak up now, the USA is on the verge of losing everything. We are at a point that we will never be able to come back from.

"So long as I'm the president, my measure of success is victory -- and success." GWB

Another issue Obama questionned the General on last week. Obama asked him; What does victory look like? How do we define success?

Obama is the candidate looking for real debate and discussion. If you voted for GWB, you have no grounds to question Obama's experience. GWB has lowered the bar so much that the experience question isn't even relevant anymore. All three candidates are better than where we are now. Even still, the other candidates seem to prefer swimming in the mud.

Call the rest of the undecided representatives and senators instead - and ask them why they have not voice their support for leaders like Obama. If enough people tell our politicians that real issues matter more than trivial media tricks (Besides one voter from PA, who cares why Obama doesn't wear a flag pin?).

When her Social Security is cut so we can keep funding an endless, useless war, she probably won't be thinking much about a flag pin.

Just goes to show that Obama was right that Clinton had learned the wrong lessons from the GOP. People are running away from Clinton for the same reason they are running to Obama - they are tired of the non-stop grade school politics, especially now that the country is basically burning to the ground. Obama really is the only adult in the room.

"Mocking"....sure seems the media likes to use flowery and dramatic adjectives to sell newspapers.

If you read the article without the headline, it doesn't have the negative slant the writer wants you to have when you walk away from it.

Sad that so many people fall for it - and the evidence of that is the negative reactions directed toward the subject of the article.

The main media is complaining when their favorite Obama got the tough questions, but no one is complaining in the previous 20 debates when Hillary got tough questions. Now we can see how pro-Obama the press is. I wonder through this campaign, how much the ordinary citizens can have their voices, because it's manipulated by the press. Hillary not only has to fight against Obama, but the press. It's so one sided that it seems like we are living in a communist country. I hope ABC, as well as other "independent" media can stand to their beliefs and don't let the majority of the press crush you.

Obama is not fit to be President of the United States. Of all the people in this country the Democrats come up with a freshman senator! There isn't a sports organization, college, university, corporation that would take a freshman and make him CEO. Why would the American perople do it? Sign of the times. Ignorant stupid American Idol, and other reality? show mentality. Americans have lost their substance so if Obama should be president then America got what it deserved.

GOBAMA

Posted by: King James | April 18, 2008 4:49 PM | Report abuse

What on earth is all this "indignant" reaction to ABC's debate about? Please people, we are talking about looking at hiring someone (and it is that) to do the toughest job in the world and we are afraid to ask the really tough questions that linger in the minds of many, many people? I can read about the plans of both people on their websites, ad nauseum, and I can read the opinions of those plans or things less tangible about the candidates in columns, but I want to see how these people can handle the really tough, revealing questions that show a person's character, on-point, without a speech or teleprompter. This was a very tough, stark (no applause - love that!) debate that pushed issues we have with both candidates and those that will certainly be pushed by the Republicans. This is not a job for the faint of heart, or light of spirit, otherwise we all would be applying. Then again, looking at how Obama's income quadrupled since he started running for President in 2007, maybe it would be a good move financially for alot of us. (Sorry, couldn't resist!) :-)

I sat thru the entire debate and tried very hard to keep an open mind. Afterall, one of these two people could be the next President. The only problem I had with the moderators was not nailing the candidates on a direct answer to a specific question every time. All in all, I think Hillary won this one. She seemed to maintain her composure (a good thing when times are tough as a President) and answer most of the questions, more so than Obama. She did loft a few bombs his way and one can argue it was personal, but I thought maybe there's another reason: maybe she really knows that if he is the nominee, that the Republicans will make mincemeat of him with his questionable ties to Rezko, Ayers, Wright, and his revealing comments behind closed doors when cameras aren't rolling and teleprompter is off. If the Republicans can destroy the character of two very good, credible men (Gore, Kerry) without much to work with, what on earth will they do to this guy? Afterall, isn't it MOST important that we elect anyone except a Republican who still thinks Sunni's and Shiites are reversed and thinks GWB's policies are "OK"?!

Get off the internet and volunteer for real change.
Given a choice of two (or more) evils, I like to keep it interesting and pick the devil I don't know.
Can a relatively green Barrak H. Obama be any worse than the idiot incumbent? Or a guy who took punji sticks up the butt for 5 years? (You think current Iraq vets have PTSD? Imagine how crazy you'd be if you spent 5 years as a POW...) Or a super intelligent lawyer-woman scorned?
Once you start digging into a person's past, you're bound to find some dirt. If someone's not dirty, they probably never left the porch.
There is no way Barrak is as dirty as the other two career politicians.

I am not an Obama supporter, but he stood firm , so he should not be whining about anything it was not necessary. The accusation was wrong. Orchestrated gumpff.
Hannity wrote the script.
Hillary learned her lines.
The sad Flag Pin character was schooled due to her lack of knowledge of this political farce.
The Gibbon did his circus cage tricks.
Staphalococulus infected the procedings and when he was slow in responding Hillary was on her toes to prompt him!! { Because she had learned her lines and the choreography off by heart]
Little things like- "Oh Senator Clinton does not want to talk about that"[ Lots of nods from Hillary!
Off the cuff answers - No way!

Obama for one moment was the fall guy.ok
But he won the debate !

But,to be fair if Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts are not competing in January I feel Hillary has all the chances of getting the nomination. -Oscar for Hillary- Leading Lady in the comedy of the year. Academy award. performance said the press.
Best supporting actress award for Chelsea- How did she keep a straight face!
The Gibbon, Hannity and Staphalococulus are also in with a good chance of getting bestscreen play and directors awards if somebody can ask Woody Allen and Clint Eastwood to take a back seat this year.
Total Hogwash the whole affair.

The AP reports that Hillary "complained" about her treatment in a debate last October and "complained" that she always got the first question in a February debate:

But it wasn't so long ago that Clinton was the front-runner and complaining about her treatment in debates. After a debate last fall, her campaign compiled clips of her being targeted, and called it the ''Politics of Pile On.'' In late February, Clinton complained that she always got asked the first question. [AP, 4/18/08]
Actually, Hillary never "complained" about getting asked tough questions from moderators in October. She said that she understood why her opponents were targeting her and she welcomed it. She said, "I think they are piling on because I'm winning. And I understand that." Hillary added " I anticipate it's going to get even hotter, and if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. I'm very much at home in the kitchen."

According to PolitiFact, Hillary's comment that she almost always is asked the first question was true. Hillary said, "I just find it kind of curious that I keep getting the first question on all of these issues. But I'm happy to answer it."

I agree with the McCain fan's assessment that a debate between two unelectable candidates is a boon to the other side. We saw this in 2000, again in 2004 and this is just an instant replay of the same old hoax.

Why is it that every 4 years we're given a laundry list of people to vote against, but no one to vote for?

Where the US corporate media most disgracefully abandons the American people is in refusing to present us with real alternatives.

I'd vote for Kucinich or Paul, or better yet, an independent ticket that includes both. I'm sick of the clowns both parties parade about that sound like they are on parole from a mental ward. With 300 million people to pick from, it sure seems like we ought to be able to do better than this.

Interesting Ra'Neishia...you claim to support Obama but apparetly don't subscribe to his political view that we should put race behind us and come together. Are you a hypocrite or has Obama's own lack of conviction (I give you his association with Rev. Wright) helped you realize that Obama isn't really concerned with uniting the races to create one America. You don't seem interested in healing when comments like "stupid white men" come out of your mouth.

The truth is Ra'Neisha, you probably benefitted nicely from the Clinton years and, if Obama wasn't running, you would be kissing Hillary's @ss in gratitude for the work she and President Clinton did for our nation in the 90s. Instead, you are giving over to base instincts, voting more on skin color than issues, and belittling a candidate who helped make your life better all of those years.

It's amazing how many African-Americans (note I am mention race but I'm not resorting to name calling like Ra'Neisha's "stupid white people" comment)loved Bill Clinton then and considered him the first black president and now reject him outright. Your lack of gratitude and short memories are disappointing, even appalling.

Obama will never win the election. When you end up with McCain, your chickens will come home to roost.

I agree 100%
We need Hillary now, at this crucial time when things have absolutely HAVE TO GET DONE. HRC is the one to do it and I know she will work herself into the ground to make sure she does it for us!

I can't say that about Obama or McCain. Obama is a flimsy candidate and not one I am willing to gamble on. I also don't like the media forcing such a phony on me and the American people in general. They gave this idiot a free pass and now he's come this far when he shouldn't have come this far because he is NOT a leader, he's a follower with a teleprompter.

We need SYSTEMIC CHANGE and Hillary will give that to us.

I wish people would stop being petty and thinking the presidency is a joke. It's not! It's so very very real. We need Hillary and I have trust and faith in her candidacy. Now more than ever after witnessing what a boob and how weak Obama really is...

The mere fact that you are voting for someone strictly because they are the same sex as you just displays your complete lack of thought. I'm all for equal rights, and I'm all for making sure women are given the same opportunities as men...but just because Hillary is the first woman to take a stab at becoming president of the US doesn't necessarily mean she is the right person for the job.

Take off your blinders. Don't vote because she is a woman. Vote because you agree with her policies.

PS. Don't agree with her policies just because she is a woman, either.

Obama and the Country of Doom

Obama spells doom for this country. Not only because of his dubious affiliations with mob members like Rezko and criminals like Auchi, but because of his lack of experience and bias education especially his bizarre religious affiliations. He is like silly putty; able to change his ideas for the public as needed so as to achieve his goal as supreme leader.

His intentions are unclear, but his affiliations are clear. Being surrounded with people like the violent Ayers, or the Hiteresque Wright, or his American hating wife Michelle, or his Kenyan half brother Islamic Jihad terrorist Abongo "Roy" Obama, or his Jewish/Israeli hating best friend Rashid Khalidi, or his close advisor Robert Malley who advocates supporting and helping the terrorist group Hamas, or Mr. McPeaks, Obama's military advisor who open believes American Jews are the "problem." and "Christian Zionists were driving America's policy in Iraq to benefit Israel," or Obama's super delegate and major long term supporter Senator Meeks who openly hates and distrust all whites and gays or Obama's most dangerous affiliation to Mr. Auchi who was Saddam Hussein right hand man and made billions in Iraq and has been a important supporter and behind the scene man throughout Obama's rise to power.

And besides all this questionable laundry in Obama's life, another serious question is why is Obama protected and promoted by the media? Is this also being directed from behind the scenes? The American public has been fooled before and I guess those in power know we can be fooled again. (Kennedy's assassination, Martin Luther King's assassination, the invasion of Iraq...).

The fact that Obama has made it this far demonstrates the collective lack of discriminative intelligence and education of this country. And nothing demonstrates this better than how well Obama plays his black card; which plays on our fear of being labeled a racist.

Obama is a chamelon who changes colors when it suits his needs. His supporters and Liberal media has hijacked this election without giving a serious thought of the challenges that we face today. Scripted speeches, dishonesty and slogans of change will not solve problems. Obama is deceitful, dishonest and calculating. He surrounds himself with American flags but never sings Allegiance to the Flag. He coddles corruptions in Illinois, and in particular corrupt and indicted slumlord, Rezko, but wants to change Washington. Obama's judgement is flawed to embrace racists and divisive pastor Wright, He subjected not only himself but also his children to the hatred and racial speeches of his pastor. How can the liberal media and his "MOONIE" supporters fail to acknowledge that we cannot condemn Madrassas in fundamentalist countries without condemning Obama's church that preach hatred and destruction of America? Obama and his wife, Michelle, are truly influenced by pastor Wright, this is evident from their words and actions. Michelle says that she was not proud of America until her adult life and Obama belittles the hard working people of small town. Women, Hispanics, Latinos and Asians will never support Obama. We will surely lose this election if Obama is the nominee.

I hate to tell all the Obama supporters this, but the truth is, the President of the United States of America has absolutely NO BUSINESS with terrorists such as Bill Ayers who conspire to overthrow the government of the USA. It is not the American way, hate to tell all you America-hating Obama supporters. If you look into his past, he also has connections to Muslim terrorist organizations in Africa through his father - case in point - the deadly Kenyatta regime - which has killed many British nationals in Africa. If Obama can't stand the heat when he is questioned about his terrorist ties to Ayers and others, he can get out of the kitchen.

Every question in the debate was fair and relevant.

If we had just focused on the economy, foreign policy, the war, etc. Obama would have few legitimate comments. The man has no real record. He is a first term senator with two year's experience who chairs a Senate committee that has yet to hold a meeting, and his every policy position is stolen from Hillary and then tweaked slightly to make it appear to be his own (even then then changes are for the worse rather than for the better). Obama is like the contestants on "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader" and, like them, he has to use cheats and steals to finesse an answer--then feels proud like he came up with it himself.

The supposed grilling Obama received concerning Rev. Wright, Will Ayers, the flag pin and so on are relevant---he has no real record of which to speak other than as a do-nothing state senator from Illinois who spoke out in one speech against the war. Obama is no prophet. He just pulled one line from an old speech AFTER the tide turned in his favor and blew the context out of proportion to make himself look like a steady opponent to the war. He was not even a U.S. Senator at the time and there was no real risk to him in making a statement opposing the war. Anyone can be brave when there is no consequence. He didn't even get national attention at the time. Only now, five to six years later does his one time speech against the war figure into the national conscience. I can't believe the press and the public allow themselves to be duped by this self-appointed "visionary."

Obama's annoying one issue mantra, "I opposed the war in Iraq" is played out now and he has nothing even remotely substantial on his record to recommend him, and he speaks so often of making change that I feel he should be a toll booth worker and not a presidential candidate.

I don't dislike Clinton. I know she feels that a political campaign is about wining the election and doing what you have to do to win, and to a certain extent we all except that notion even if we don't like it. On the other hand, there is a real difference between being asked tough and important questions, the answers to which we would likely base our vote, and stupid tabloid qeustions that don't concern anyone. I honestly don't feel that Obama has every seemed unable to answer tough questions, but I do think he felt that the American people deserved better than the questions that were asked on Wednesday.

I have a sneeking suspicion that he will actually see a bump in poles from that debate. His obvious distaste at the lack of seriousness of the questions was palpable. Even when given the chance to go after Hillary with his response, he declined, and it was obviously not out of politeness but becuase he felt it was beneath the dignity of someone running for President. It would seem that Hillary didn't feel that the questions were beneath her view of the President.

Focusing on issues such as Guns, pins, and someone acquaintances really helps the people of PA determine the next democratic nominee. I personally think ABC undermined the intellect of the people of PA.

We have BIGGER problems to focus on.

What about global warming? I convinced its NOT a hoax!
What about creating jobs?
Cutting government spending?
Cutting the cost of fuel? ~$4 a gallon
What about our beautiful education system?
What about retirement for baby boomer?
What kind of world do we as Americans envision in the next 10-20 yrs?
will we be comfortable in the kitchen?

*Democracy* IS for the people by the people! That's the ideal world I guess.

We as American need a change, we need someone able to move against normal conventions. The Global Image of America is tarnished. Simply because we have chaos at home. Gandhi onces said we have to be the change we want to see.

That change starts by who we vote for!

"they were ridiculous--and completely irrelevant." The questions were neither ridiculous nor irrelevant. Character matters. Associations indicate character. It is time Mr Obama's skeletons are brought out of his closet. Mr. Regan was known to be a teflon President. Mr. Regan does not even come clsoe to Mr Obama. Nothing sticks to him. What is the use of asking him about his position on Iraq war? He will go back to his same old crap as to how he gave a speech opposing war. Ask him about health car. Same old crap answer. Ask him about economy. Same old carp answer. We all know his scock robotic answers. ABC has to be commended for bringing out the issues which confirmed Mr. Obama for who he is- emperor without clothes.

Most Americans repeat statement heard on television. (I know, because I was one of those Americans). "Cut and run", Islamo-fascists" "elitist" "liberal" "conservative". You can tell from the comments that most of you watch too much tv, and it is 95 percent of where you get your slanted info. F..K your news programs and F..K your "reporters/ news readers". Wake up people and smell the info. The scent of info is coming from the opposite direction that you tv is positioned in.

After watching the debate and the ridiculous rational of questions and answers, I am more and more concerned for the people of America. Have we stooped so low as to worry about a pin, worry about the hardest or not hardest questions. Are we going to continue to let the debates of two people who are old status and special guy dissuade us from the issues in this country. We are financialy worse off than before, we are in severe and extreme to other countrys. Nuclear weapons are all over the world, Al Quida and Ben Laden still live and the Muslum world still hates and wants Americans dead. We have young men and women dying daily in Afganistan and Iraq, they are coming home with severe injuries and mental problems that will never be taken care of. Go back and look what Vietnam did to those serving and what they received when they came home. We need a leader, someone with a lot more going on upstairs than pettiness. We need a leader that has the proud hope for a new future for all Americans, someone who will admit they were wrong, or right. Flexible and firm. Someone who will act when planes fly into buildings killing Americans. We have it so good in America, even with high gas prices, home foreclosures, problem health care that we forget what we have and what we should want to keep. Freedom from Opression, freedom from Americans dying here at home from evil Muslims around the world. Wake up people, they hate you and me, white or black. Do you want a Muslim for president, someone who backs a pastor who curses God. Do you want a woman who lies through her teeth and corrects it casually? We need strong leadership, someone with experience, someone who knows what it is like to go to war and come home a finally freed prisoner of war. Someone who knows foriegn policy. Someone who is not afraid to make a decision and stand by it. We really loved George Bush directly after 9-11. Gosh how we forget how tough the job is and how tough the decisions are. The rational of Clinton or Obama being President of the United States is so ridiculous. For God's sake, let's elect a leader. Can we stand more Clinton's in the White house, can we stand a American Muslum who believes in his church and their politics, has no pride in his country, not enough to put his hand on his heart and pledge to the precious flag that so many have died defending? We are in a sad sad state of affairs in this country. Think hard before you vote Hillary lovers, and Obamites.

Just to focus on the article for a moment...

Given a choice, which do you prefer for the major content of a presidential debate?

A. Tabloid / McCarthyist questions: ie., Do you love the American flag?, or
B. Relevant issues that affect our daily lives locally, nationally, globally?

Forget the candidates for a moment. Which is more relevant and constructive direction for voters to make an informed decision?

the writing for this newspaper is ridiculously one-sided. how could it be possible that someone as accomplished as hillary clinton, in the eyes of the writers, doesn't have a single good quality, a single reasonable comment, or a single good day.

The reality is Obama performed poorly. The heat was on and he wilted like a daisy. Now, he's laying the groundwork to avoid another debate, and that just makes him look like a complete and utter WUS because it's painfully obvious that he's scared.

another thing - - this is exactly why he needs to drop out of this race. we spend too much time doing his laundry. He puts his foot in his mouth on a weekly basis and before we can get to issues we have to spend time finding out just who he is.

Gee, now you see the three losers you get when you pick losers.

Maybe you should have supported the only candidate left that is above this piddly-$#!t and actually has the solutions to our national issues: Dr. Ron Paul.

Nah, when it comes to politics, in America, superficiality matters and substance does not. Hence we get the SSDD candidates and more complaints after the fact. What's the definition of insanity again? When will the electorate wake up, get a clue, and grow up? Only when it's too late, and even then maybe not at the rate we're going.

The intelligent ones who support substance over superficiality support Dr. Paul, and we DON'T deserve to be punished for your stupidity and fickleness. So do us intelligent folks a favor: stay home, put on your iPod and your Tivo, don't vote, and leave the business of running the country to those of us who actually know how to do it. Go back to your entertainment world, and leave the smart and serious stuff to smart and serious people. That means NOT YOU!

WHY ON ALL DAYS DID AYERS WHO HAD BEEN SILENT FOR SO LONG, CALL HOURS BEFORE THE BOMBING?

AND WHY IS OBAMA FRIENDLY WITH HIM.
OBAMA CLAIMS IT WAS YEARS AGO
BUT IT IS TODAY THAT AYERS HOLDS ON TO HIS DISRESPECT OF AMERICA
IT IS TODAY THAT AYERS SAYS HE WILL NOT APOLOGIZE.

Obama's answers to the questions were even worse than the questions themselves.

Obama has shown his dislike for Debates before and the reason he doesn't like them is because it's a two-way conversation, as opposed to him just walking out on stage with all his music-star buddies and delivering canned speeches read from the teleprompter.

WHY would obama say his relationship with Wm. Ayers was a "fleeting" one?
New York Times' September 11, 2001 contains article that DOCUMENTES THAT AS RECENT AS 2001, AYERS WAS STILL SAYING HE DID NOT REGRET SENDING BOMBS TO THE PENTAGON..........

WHY would obama try to sugarcoat that?
he was only 8 years old when bombs were sent but what is his excuse today?
That is an insult to all of us, especially if you have victim family members from NYC bombs.
He was eight years old then, but Mr. Ayers said in 2001 that he did not regret setting the bombs - - and Obama is still friends with him, so how old was he on September 11, 2001? - - the same day New York was bombed and the same day Ayers made these claims?

'sorry, I draw the line somewhere, and he no longer has my support.

Isn't that the kettle calling the pot burnt?

If McCain or Hillary haven't twisted Obama's words for political purposes, or cried foul for being attacked, then I must be dumb, and I don't appreciate being condescended too. It's about the facts, not the manipulation of someone's words, and the fact is that Clinton and McCain both have records that are impotent at best and completely corrupt most often. What we know about Hillary and John is that they play the press and the public well mostly because they will say whatever the public wants to hear no matter how dishonest, and if you check the facts it almost always is a lie, and they have done nothing to stop and in fact promoted the debacle that this country is now in, both the war and the economy. But I asked myself what do I know about Obama? Well I know that I didn't support him in the beginning and I still think of him as the lesser of three (evils?). I'll explain how I could make such a decision to support him? Obama's voting record is only slightly left of Hillary's, and Hillary's voting record is only midway left of McCain's even though Hillary's is way to the right of center and Obama's is just about center, McCain' voting record is that of a man that knows nothing of what is happening in the world other his own blind drive for power. And Hillary's position on anything is questionable sense it flip-flops whenever her actions don't sit well with the voters, as well as being driven only by power. Other then that my decision was set in stone when both Hillary and McCain decided to use a kind of political correctness that reminded me of the rhetoric that we the voting public lack patriotism because we question the war, our government, or our president? All assumptions I find patently insulting. So future President Obama, get used to it Hillary and McCain, but you were not my first choice but now you are my only choice. Congratulations

What is clear from all of the candidates running for President including Sen. McCain is that they are all flawed vessels and if we hold up their associations as reflections upon them as individuals, then none of the candidates would be fit to be president.

Sen. Clinton and Former President Bill Clinton have serious baggage. Sen. Obama has "carry-on luggage" perhaps because he has not been apart of the Washington establishment long enough. John McCain, was part of the Keating Five during the S&L meltdown in which I, as a tax payer, had to foot part of the bill. All of this "stuff" was in the past and I hope they all learned from their misdeeds. What I want to know is what are we going to do about the problems that face us now and our children into the future.

That said, I would think "adults" (not the children who play school-yard games), would demand a debate on the issues not the pettiness of character assassination. Far too often I think we buy into the attacks on the person rather than demand debates on the issues. We let media pundits and consultants drive the narrative versus demand a focus on the real issues.

Does any of the pettiness really matter when we have American being killed, mangled, or returned home injured physically and mentally to an economy that can't put them to work or a healthcare system that screws even the veterans returning home? I don't think so.

It's really sad that we have a media, a system of government, and a citizenry (or some) who would rather tear down, ridicule, or trivialize the challenges we all face as a nation. The media, pundits, lobbyist, and political consultants have bought in the notion that "ignorance is bliss" and it is better to keep a people placated with candy than real nourishment for the brain. God Bless America, but goddamned the media, pundits, and consultants for not treating the American people as real adults.

Clinton was right to point out the overwhelming pro-Obama/anti-Clinton bias in media coverage and the debates. A complaint - which Clinton's observation in any case fell short of - that's legitimate is not whining. Clinton turned in excellent debate performances. Obama crashed and burned Wednesday night. He is whining. His followers, along with elite liberal media types, have launched a campaign to distract the public from an awful debate performance by shifting the blame to ABC News. In fact, ABC News finally did what news organizations should have been doing all along: informing voters about Barack Obama. The media piling on ABC News in fact confirms Clinton's observation that the media has a pro-Obama bias. I have every reason to believe that the elite media will continue to confirm the soundness of Clinton's observation.

Senator Obama cannot handle it. He has whined for two days to try to get the subject away from how terrible he was at the debate. I'll say he had an off night. If there were any undeciders watching with any brains they realized how much trouble we're in if Senator Obama is the nominee. My Gosh!! It was pitiful....and I feel true colors shined that night. If you think those questions are hard...think again. By the time the republicans finish with him, George and Charlie will look like the paddy cake boys! He will be creamed. I am a democrat and normally would follow the party, but with all I have seen, heard and learned, I will vote McCain before I will vote for Senator Obama! If he cannot explain his bitter comment without trying to spin it and explain honestly and openly the Wright and Ayers issues, I'm out! All the friends I have who are democrats feel the same way. I think all Democrats should read Nicholas Kristof's latest piece in the NYTimes about how who we support affects how we perceive Obama's versus Hillary's messages. It explains in part why we are seeing polarizing comments (like in this comment section) that -- if you disagree with them -- seem to have no basis in reality. As a Obama supporter, I am stunned by the perception that Clinton supporters have of him and the way they interpret his vs her comments/actions. I can't write them all off as nitwits because many are thoughtful people whose views I's normally agree with. I'm sure there are Clinton supporters who have felt the same thing about Obama supporters. Here is Kristof's piece

Hey Obama, do you want some cheese with that whine!
Barack Obama is not electable in the general election. His entire candidacy is one big fairy tale. The entire media (including Fox News) totally wants Obama to be the Democratic nominee. For the first time a media outlet ruffled his feathers and he can't take it and is playing the victim card.
Obama reminds me of a boxer with a glass jaw. If he thinks the ABC debate was traumatic then he should wait until the Neocons get a hold of him. The entire media is serving him on a silver platter to the Neocons and they are licking their chops! He will be swiftboated so easily. Mark my word!
Hillary is immune from being swiftboated. Hillary has won all the swing states that decide the presidential election. Obama will not win Ohio, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Florida if he is facing McCain. Obama has primarily won only red states that go for the Republicans anyway. Hillary is the best bet for the Democrats to take back the White House.

I'm starting to get convinced that Clinton's supporters have been brainwashed, or are not literate enough to read facts and history, or a racist against men (black or white). Their comments are so full of rage, disgust, and many of racism.

One of Clinton's supporters call us "we the people"; I don't even know this person realized that "we the people" are all Americans not just a subset of campaign supporters, leaving out both Obama's and McCain's supporters. How can this person dare speak for "we the people"?

I will vote for Obama or McCain but cannot, under any circumstances, give Mrs. Clinton my support. They call Obama a liar. I wish they could explain, clearly, how can aperson make a mistake about being under snipper fire when not true? I would've understood this as mispoken if she has been under snipper fire in any other city and she just mispoke the name of the place. But I can't possibly believe that such a experience can't be forgotten when it didn't actually happen (other for making it up in your own mind so much that you're convinced it really happened until someone tells you it didn't.) He practically acknowledge during this debate that she lied (short of using this word she said she made a mistake). I understand clearly Obama's imperfections and lack of eloquence at times; that make make a person "mispeak", but I don't recall that either him or McCain had ever made up a story. That's what she did; she made up a story that sounded great for her campaign. It wasn't just that she was hiding the truth or not being completely upfront. She made up the story. How can someone actually think that she's fit to be our President from day one? Please, do give me the right facts if she didn't make up the story and I'm missing the point. I'd gladly reconsider my position and my vote.

The Clintons are relics of a time when the people were easily lied to because they had little access to informational networks like the internet to discover their deceit. But times, have changed the truth is out and the Clintons are a group of liars. Thankfully, the people are mostly seeing beyond the smoke screens to a new president, B. They showed a clip of McCain, and he wasn't wearing a lapel pin. I did a Google search for pictures of McCain, and I couldn't find one of him with a lapel pin.

I'm confused. How is this about Obama? And just why did they ask those questions?

My only complaint with the media's tough look at Obama is why it took so long. He should have gotten this treatment last year.

Hillary has been through the meat grinder and survived many times. Obama hasn't even started to feel the heat. After the republicans get a through with him he is going to look like a traitor and terrorist sympathizer. They are very good at destroying people of questionable character like Obama. He is divisive and incapable of running an effective presidency. He has already divided the democratic party, do the Obamabots actually believe he has any chance of getting them back? sad.

If Hillary loses I am voting for McCain. He may be republican but at least he is capable of truly working with the dems. Obama will only make things worse.

Obama is great at delivering prepared speeches with the use of a teleprompter, having studied Jeremiah Wright's mesmerizing techniques from the pews for 20 years. But he is halting, tentative, and weak when delivering impromptu remarks or answering debate questions. Obama loves to lecture white people on what is wrong with American society in his left-wing socialist agenda-Black Liberation Theology-opinion. His campaign is devoid any particular policy. "We are the 'hope".. of the future," sayeth the silver-tongued Obama."We can remake this world as it should be." How can she pretend to have done anything of any worth, or making major decisions while she was not privy to proprietary and confidential information? If, Bill Gates' wife speaks about the hardships of computer programming, would you view her as a specialist? Or just a person, who just so happened to be married to a person that has truly done great things?

I love how the Obama supporters are claiming that Obama was mad because there were no substantive questions asked about issues such as health care and the economy. You all do remember that up, until about twenty minutes ago, Obama refused to discuss anything of substance such as health care and the economy. All we ever heard from him was that he was leading a movement, and he was delivering a new kind of politics.

I am a Hillary supporter. I also realized long ago that the Democratic party was not going to let her get the nomination because Obama was their chosen one. Well, right now, McCain is looking awful good to me.

All Obama-supporters it is time to tighten up the ship. When you look at the ABC "debate" in total, Hillary won it. I agree that the moderators (George and Charlie) were a big part of why Obama lost than due to any true debating with Hillary. With that said, Obama is still polling strong and many superdelegates seem to be unphased by Hillary's attacks on Obama.

I don't Obama will do any more primary debates. ABC News threw out all the FOX NEWS (and Republican) talking points against Obama. If Obama's polling remains strong, his fundraising remains strong, and there are record turnouts in the remaining primaries, Obama should be confirmed the Democratic nominee by June 6th.

Barack Obama's Real Personna: NY TIMES

To others, though, the mismatch between Mr. Obama's outside profile and his inside accomplishments wore thin. While some senators spent hours in closed-door meetings over immigration reform in early 2007, he dropped in only occasionally, prompting complaints that he was something of a dilettante.

He joined a bipartisan group, which included Senator John McCain of Arizona, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, and Mr. Kennedy, that agreed to stick to a final compromise bill even though it was sure to face challenges from interest groups on both sides. Yet when the measure reached the floor, Mr. Obama distanced himself from the compromise, advocating changes sought by labor groups. The bill collapsed.

To some in the bipartisan coalition, Mr. Obama's move showed an unwillingness to take a tough stand.

"He folded like a cheap suit," said Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, a close ally of Mr. McCain. "What it showed me is you are not an agent of change. Because to really change things in this place you have to get beat up now and then."

The shame of it is that it was the most even-handed debate to date. Perhaps the questions themselves could have been different, but finally the kid gloves were taken off for Obama and the candidates were given some equal treatment. That is called fair play. The Obama camp almost seems like it is pouting. If Clinton were behaving that way after all the debates where she has been lambasted, the sexist remarks would prevail. The bigger problem though is that Obama appears to not be able to take it, threatening to debate no more. As though the Republicans will give him that choice. Moreover, his followers believe that any questioning of their leader is heresy.

The Obamaites are pathetic and delusional. Hillary to Obama: Toughen up to play in the big league.

There was plenty of coverage on the so called issues - it just didn't dominate the entire 90 minutes. And most if not all issues have been covered in the previous 20+ debates. I don't need to hear more. For the gluttons, you can go the candidates' website and find out for yourself in far greater detail.

You also know what the candidates say during debates is just political posturing (remember Obama's person running to the Canadians about Nafta?). So I applaud ABC for asking the questions they asked - questions that have been on my mind for a while. What the debates should do at this point is to allow the public to see how the candidates function under pressure. Can they give a coherent and convincing answer? For Obama, the answer is a resounding no. It is all the more surprising because these issues have been brewing for months. So it was poor preparation on his part. He needs to spend some more time in the Senate, learn a few things or two before running. He is not ready for prime time.

The Obamaites will be singing a different tune if the tough questions had been directed at Clinton instead. I didn't see them coming to her defense before when she was getting the tough ones. She has to finally confront the moderators herself at the debate before anyone paid attention. Why didn't Obama do that yesterday if he thinks it was unfair? If he can't stand up for himself why should we think he will stand up for the country?

I am a Republican...as are my wife and 3 adult children/spouses. We watched the debate together. Our take?

We have seen the last 4 Dem/Rep debates.

This debate was relevant - these questions (and others) are being asked by "we the people" around the water cooler...they speak to a candidate's judgment.

The second half did cover some questions about Iraq, the economy, taxes, Social Security, the oil industry, education, the Second Amendment and religion.

It was clear to ALL 8 of us that Barack Obama is not ready to lead. The debate format is not his venue, we understand that. Still, he has no specifics, and sounds a lot like Kerry did - lots and lots of words and ummms.

Hillary Clinton (whom most of us are not fond of) was concise and specific. She clearly knows her stuff and came prepared to respond.

While it is unlikely that we are going to switch over to vote Democratic in November..it is not impossible. We want the best candidate for the job.

After watching several debates, we conclude that Hillary Clinton is the best candidate on the Democratic side. We are puzzled by the anger whenever anyone questions Sen. Obama. Is he that delicate?

Let me repeat the bottom portion of this article. Pretty much sums it up:

--Clinton has loudly complained about the press and the questions she received in earlier debates, lamenting during one that she was constantly asked the first question and that reporters were too soft on Obama.

"Her blatant hypocrisy here is stunning," said Bill Burton, an Obama spokesman.--

I mean, really, do we need to ask him AGAIN why he doesn't wear a flag pin? That was the worst debate that I've seen over ther last few months. How could ABC news even call that a debate. That was childish at best. I've heard more indepth questions being asked of either candidate from first graders. What does a lapel pin have to do with anything. Of all the questions that people were asking the only thing that ABC found that was relevant was a lapel pin. Where was Hillary's, Charlies, or George's lapel pins. I bet if you asked everyone in the room who had a lapel pin to stand up you wouldn't find more than 1-2 people. What a complete waste of time.

What about all the money we're spending on Iraq for a ill conceived war. What about the Housing issues, Gas prices, Education , Social Security, Medicare? But to be fair, neither Hillary, Charlie or George have to worry like the rest of us, because as we say...THEY GOT MONEY.

we'll no doubt hear much more about this incident in coming days.Right now, we'll just leave this video for Ticket readers to view and judge for themselves. It's Sen. Barack Obama, according to the caption on YouTube posted just minutes ago, speaking to a friendly crowd in Raleigh, N.C. today. He's talking critically about his opponent, Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York, and the kind of distasteful gotcha politics that occur in Washington . And he says, "That's allright. Sen. Clinton looked in her element."Watch the video right then. The presidential candidate raises his right hand to seemingly scratch his cheek. He doesn't use his whole hand though. Just one finger. Briefly. A couple of strokes. He pauses. He smiles slyly as the crowd begins to mumble and then he tries, somewhat distracted, to continue his remarks, smiling as the buzz spreads through the crowd. He'll no doubt deny it later, but that mischievious smile seems to confirm plenty. And the crowd sure sees something.

Humpty Dumpty democrats sat on the wall,
Humpty Dumpty democrats had a great fall.
All the king's horses
And all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty Dumpty Democrats
Together again.

According to Senator Hillary Clinton, their dirty laundry will look better hanging outside on the Whitehouse clothesline!

McCain Sandals
1. Keating Five in late 80's and early 90's, after a lengthy investigation, it was decided McCain had only been minimally involved in the sandal.
2. Cindy McCain stole drugs from her own nonprofit medical relief organization due to her addiction to prescription drugs.
3. Endorsement from racial, hard-line conservative Pastor John Hagee

Obama Sandals
1. The racial, hard-line liberal Pastor Wright controversy.
2. Not wearing an American flag lapel pin. Look at Clinton's, McCain, Bush's, senators, representatives, etc. next time to see if they wear one at every event, and every public speech event.
3. Not putting his hand over his heart during the singing of the National Anthem. How will conservative Republicans explain why President Bush put his hand on his mid-section while the National Anthem was being played? True, Bush is not the smartest guy in the world, and maybe didn't know where his heart was located.
4. He attended a campaign event at the home of William Ayer's in 1995. Ayer's is now a respectable, and noted education specialist at the University of Illinois, and works with Major Daily on educational reform.
5. Rezko and his association with Obama.

Hillary and Bill Clinton
1. Outsourcing of jobs to India and China. Hillary Clinton's "opp" moment in 2006 at a fund-raiser hosted by a top Indian American supporter when she said, "I can certainly run for the Senate seat in Punjab and win easily." Punjab is a region in India. Hillary Clinton statement while speaking to an audience of business leaders during her visit to New Delhi, "There is no way to legislate against reality. Outsourcing will continue." The Clinton's will have to explain and disclose their business relationships with India's businesses and business leaders.
2. Unanswered questions about her spouse's (Bill Clinton) work to promote the Colombia Free Trade deal. Hillary's answer so far, "Laughter...How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?"
3. 1995 documented statement made to her spouse concerning working class white southerners, "Screw 'em, you don't owe them a thing Bill. They're doing nothing for you' you don't have to do anything for them."
4. Immigration, March 2006, Hillary Clinton: GOP Immigration Bill Would Criminalize Jesus. She was quoted as saying, "legislation would literally criminalize...probably even Jesus himself. Bill Clinton: Immigration crackdown Hurting US (2005) He argued that tighter immigration laws would only hurt America, saying, "New restrictions aren't worth it even if they stop the "one out of a zillion (foreigners) who might have a bomb."
5. Hillary's statements about Bosnia and Ireland. Can she think of a better response then what she and Bill are offered to the public?
6. Clinton NAFTA-gate. The wink-wink in Canada actually came from the Clinton campaign, not Obama's. Bill Clinton helped a Canadian mining magnate win lucrative uranium contract from Kazakhstan's state-owned nuclear holding company Kazatomprom. It subsequently donated $31 million to the William J. Clinton Foundation. What other interest will the Republicans find?
7. Questionable and illegal campaign contributions. Norman Hsu, $1,100.00 to Hillary Clinton. He ran a pyramid scheme that defrauded investors of about $20 million. Marc Rich raised $70,000 for Hillary and $450,000 for the Clinton Library. Rich fled to Switzerland to avoid racketeering and illegal trading. Bill Clinton pardoned Rich during his last days in Washington. Others: Aaron Tonken, Peter F. Paul, John Huang, James Riady, Johnny Chung, Roger Tamraz, John K. H. Lee, Abdul Jinnah, etc.
8. Then there's Whitewater, Travelgate, Filegate, Castle Grande-gate, Troopergate, etc.

WHO HAS A BETTER CHANCE AGAINST MCCAIN?

You should rerun the debate. I remember her saying that she was happy to answer their questions, but just took note that she seemed to be getting the first question each time. And she was given the first question for the last 3 debates. A poll was taken that showed that the public felt the press had been unfair to her. Did you see that? It is pretty SAD when you can turn on the TV and just know which reporters you are not going to watch because they are so pro Obama and so hateful of They try to scrutinize each word of Clinton. They read between the lines (and usually get it wrong). Besides, I am not so sure that Obama didn't plagarize some of Clintons ideas. In the last debate, she answered the question first and he started to say the same thing word for word that she said and then said that he didn't know the issue very well. Give me a break... Its easy to answer a question when you have extra time to think about it and formulate your answer. Your blantant insinuation is appalling. The true hypocrisy is in once again trying to blame Clinton for Obama's poor performance in the debate. What do they call it when someone is a poor sport? Obama's little tantrum was probably nothing compared to his wife Michelle's. After all I have heard that she can be pretty petty.

Yup, hypocrisy on full display. Flaming!!! It's hard to tell whether the Clintons think we are too stupid to get it or they are too stupid to get it.

I used to think it was them thinking it's us but now I am more and more convinced they don't know any better.

Yikes!!! Imagine those two in the White House again. Pathology and denial.

She is kind of correct, for the questions (irrational ones at that) will be tough and the audience large, if he would be president.

Yet, we'll see if this will get Hillary the 20+ point victory she needs in PA- as of no, Obama is looking still strong, as these Internet facts point out;

Sen. Clinton does not have a stable mind to run the Whitehouse. If she cannot remember a simple landing, how in the world can this woman run the country? The country will be worsted off with her in the Whitehouse. Take a look at her face. You can tell something is wrong with her. It is time to get serious about this.

I am a Republican that is going to vote for John McCain in November.
In all my years of viewing debates, the past years have become quite silly.
This was no debate, to me this was just a question and answer period concerning tabloid questions.
Us Republicans are garnering much information to press the point concerning the divisiveness either of the Democratic candidates possess.
Its amusing that a few debates ago Hillary and Bill commented that she is always asked tough questions, always asked questions first, brought up the Saturday Night Live skit,on and on.
Its obvious to most and will become clearly evident to all, that the constant game playing by the Democrats will show John McCain to be the most Presidential,
Kepp up the good work Democrats!!

"HRC: Just speaking for myself, I'm very comfortable in the kitchen."

Maybe baking cookies?! McCain has some great receipe's for you.

But seriously - pointing out facts that the debate would have been more substantive if based on economic, evironmental and global issues constitutes whining by the Obama campaign??? What? Was Hillary even at the debate?

Both Bill and Hillary came right out of the gate on this with typical politics as usual out of Washington and went right to the spin cycle. It is nauseating that they are so entrenched in the politics as usual approach.

Hillary passed up a great opportunity to recognize that a focus on core issues is what voters really want and help steer the campaign course in a more accountable, responsible and informative direction. But that is less sensationalist and probably more of an effort than just always throwing the other guy under the bus. Shame on Hillary for another miss.

Was this considered a debate? It seemed like supermarket tabliod news questions. The answering of gossip, total manuscha, keep it up dems, McCain is looking more Presidential everyday!

Apparently asking about lapel pins is a relevant question. Personally I think if you need to where the flag on your lapel to show your patriotic, then you're probably unpatriotic. Clinton supporters must not think Americans dying in Iraq is relevant, nor that 2 million Americans lost there jobs during the Bush presidency. Obama is right these are fabricated issues.

Obama cries whenever we the public don't acknowledge how "special" he is.
He's not fit to be president.

he's done nothing in his political career to earn a promotion, yet alone a the top job.

another 12 years , and if he actually does something , then maybe.

Right now... he's a big zero

Sen. Clinton, The questions were not "hard", rather, they were ridiculous--and completely irrelevant.

Will putting on a lapel pin suddenly stop the housing foreclosures and bring property values up? The vast majority of Americans have the majority of their assets tied up in their homes. As our property values plunge, so do our assets. Sen. Clinton, I ask, if Sen. Obama puts on a cheap flag lapel pin, will it raise my property value, and those of my neighbors, back to pre-recession levels?

Will walking out of one's church and disowning one's pastor bring gas prices down? How about it Sen. Clinton, what is the correlation between Sen. Obama's relationship with his church and how much I pay to fill up my car? During the debate, you specifically said, "I'm not dumb"; so if you are so smart, please explain the relationship between my outrageous weekly gasoline costs and Sen. Obama's relationship with Rev. Wright.

What is the relationship between my sister not having healthcare and your incorrect recollection of a trip to Bosnia? If you had correctly described your trip to Bosnia the first time, would my sister suddenly be able to afford healthcare insurance?

Really Sen. Clinton, if you publicly insist that you are "not dumb." then don't act dumb. The questions were not hard, the questions were totally irrelevant.

I agree with everything Tobias just said. Just replace Clinton with Obama and vice versa and the statement is factual.

Posted by: MM | April 18, 2008 1:14 PM | Report abuse

This is just more prove that Obama is not fit to be president. He is not qualified he is a pathological liar and a hypocrite and now well all know he is unelectable. The best part is that Senator Clinton is extremely more qualified and she is ready. She will be able to withstand the Republican onslaught and she will put the Democrats back in the White House. It is time to vote smart, vote Clinton.

Ha ha, the Clinton's even whine about Barack whining. The irony. The Clinton's are infamous for their nonstop whining over the past 16 years. Barack is suggesting that inane items like lapel pins should leave our discussions and issues like Iraq, economy, jobs, outsourcing, etc... be the focus of the Whitehouse. Do the Clinton's think that if you wear a flag pin all of the Iraq war debacle will immediately be solved, Iraq will become a functioning Democracy, insurgents will lay down the weapons we gave them, and everyone will be happy? Perhaps some serious diplomacy and action would be a more productive route. By the way, where is Hillary's flag pin?
