Obama's Hoops Victory in Indiana

By Alec MacGillis
KOKOMO, Ind. -- Chalk it up as another lesson of the never-ending campaign: stick with what you know.

After drawing endless blooper footage and ridicule from cable TV's arbiters of regular guyness for his poor bowling in Pennsylvania, Barack Obama achieved a measure of redemption last night by returning to his strong suit: hoops, and in a state where hoops matter quite a bit.

Obama's campaign had arranged for him to take part in a three-on-three game at an elementary school here with the two winners of a contest to see who could register the most Indiana voters, one from high school and one from college. The stakes were high: a dozen cameras and the national press corps watching Obama's every dribble.

But there would be no lampooning this time. Obama, who played on his high school team in Hawaii and still plays pick-up games whenever possible, could hardly have asked for a better line: 4 for 6 shooting, including a three-pointer to seal his team's 15-5 win. Added in the mix was some hustling defense, including two nifty steals. All in all, the 46-year-old looked very much at home slashing through the lane and setting picks among some very good players less than half his age. Every so often, he let loose a "whoo!" to celebrate a score or spook the opposition.

Obama's most important shot may have been one that didn't show up on the scoreboard: the players tried three-pointers to pick up teams, and by draining his second one, Obama got to play on the same team as Alison Bales, who was the only woman in the group, and also the tallest and the best: a 6'7'' Duke grad who now plays for the Indiana Fever of the WNBA. (The other two players were the friends of the high school contest winner, who have been recruited to Division I college teams.)

Being on Bales' team, and thus spared her shot-blocking threat, allowed Obama to do what he does best -- drive to the hoop for layups, and zip no-look passes to Bales, who scored most of their team's points. Three of Obama's field goals came under the hoop -- a reverse lay-in, a layup, and a put-back of a missed layup. He had tried only one jumper before he nailed the open three to end the game.

And with that, the press was ushered out of the gym so that the six could play another game on their own. No word yet on whether the youngsters took it harder on the old guy with the cameras gone.

When I watch Obama speak, I feel inspired to become a better person. When I watch Hillary speak, it makes me want to get even. So now I'm wondering which one would make a better world leader...

Obama puts in a three pointer:
Definition: Three pointer;
Two regular delegates, plus one super delegate.

Hillary status (in B-ball terms): Fouled out of the game (too many personal fouls).

Enjoyed the positive article for a change. Still would like most to hear about real issues, but if this is how the media works - then good for him for being true to himself and playing to win.

Headline: Obama says YES to Cheney

Foreword: I wrote the following comments about an hour before I heard Olberman report that Rush Limbaugh was promoting on his website: RIOTS at the Democratic Convention in Denver

We all know the ECONOMY is the #1 ISSUE in this campaign season.

Since ENERGY is an important basis of economics our nation's Energy Policy is EXTREMELY we have all seen with the increasing cost of FUEL and FOOD engendered by the rise in Oil Prices.

The Mainstream Media has failed to address or air the 3 Presidential candidates' ENERGY POLICIES. (Have YOU heard anything about The Cheney Energy Bill?)

It was passed in 2005...while the Republicans still had control of Congress. Obama Voted FOR the Cheney Energy Bill. McCain Voted FOR it.
Clinton Voted AGAINST it.

Most of us, upon hearing of the EXISTENCE of a CHENEY Energy Bill would...assume it to be...NOT in the best interests of our nation or any of us Not Wealthy humans...i.e. some kind of RIPOFF of the American taxpaying public.

It also seems strikingly ODD that Obama, appearing to be a very LIBERAL DEMOCRAT, Voted FOR The Cheney Energy Bill.

Clinton has brought up Obama's YES to Cheney VOTE several times during the televised debates. YET...the News People asking the debate questions never followup by asking Obama: WHY DID YOU VOTE FOR THE CHENEY ENERGY BILL?. They Never followup by asking: What IS the Cheney Energy Bill about?

It is by far One of the most IMPORTANT ISSUES of our time, but the "mainstream media" just doesn't cover it. WHAT is the reason for the mainstream media's SILENCE on an ISSUE so critically important to our future?

I asked myself that question and went looking for the answer. This is what I found:

GE owns NBC & MSNBC. Westinghouse owns CBS. GE is the 2nd largest corporation on the planet: BOTH corporations have, for many generations, pumped vast quantities of PRODUCT...$ADVERTISING Dollars...into all forms of media.

GE and Westinghouse are the Major Players in the nuclear industry. An industry that was set to suffer a Slow DEATH...UNTIL...the Cheney EnergyBill gave it "a new lease on life". NO new nukes have been built in the U.S for the past 30 years because the banks would not loan money to build them - too risky.

The Cheney Energy Bill Solved That Problem For The Nuke Industry by GUARANTEEING TAXPAYER Payback of any of the nuke loans that default.

(Given that the Congressional Budget Office rated the risk of default at 50%, or you think it was GOOD JUDGMENT for Obama to vote FOR it?)

(Given the already substantial economic damage done by the SubPrime mortgage meltdown -what amount of economic damage are we LIKELY to suffer from SubPrime: Not Credit Worthy -lending- to the nuke industry/compounded by the fact that US TAXPAYERS would PAY the full cost of a SUBPRIME Nuke Lending meltdown?)

The nuke industry's plans to build 29 new nuclear power plants are already far advanced. Licensing hearings for the first few nuke plants have already been scheduled.

Second Level Major Players in the Nuke Industry:

Excelon Corp. of Illinois - one of Obama's largest campaign contributors since his earliest days in politics - biggest nuke operator on the planet; they own the nukes in Illinois; they own Con-Ed of New York.

Entergy - Owns many utilities in several Southern states.

3 Consortiums of other nuke industry players.

MSNBC & NBC have become more FAUX than FOX. All day everyday since last October I have seen on MSNBC & NBC..ALL their "reporters" and "news analysts" -(from Joe Scarborough and Mika Berzinski on "Morning Joe"-to Chris Matthews on "Hardball" in the afternoon-to Keith Olbermann in the evening BLATANTLY promoting Pro-Obama PROPAGANDA/ Slamming & smeaaring the Clintons...everyday all day long.

I'm not the only one who noticed. Millions of people noticed and posted their complaints about it on the internet. Last night Bill O'reilly on Fox news said - "MSNBC has become the Obama Network".
(I call MSNBC/NBC -BOP-N---Barack Obama Propaganda Networks.)

In response to...(unspecified...& unreported complaints) about "media bias" against the Clintons, Howard Fineman, TIME magazine & MSNBC "News analyst"---whined to Chris Matthews on "Hardball" last week: Gov. Rendell said to me -"you're from the Obama Network"-they shouldn't be complaining about US being biased against the Clintons WE're Journalists! WE just report the facts. (Pathetic...Fineman convince himself he's not -exactly what he is- a highly paid Propaganda Pusher.)

Obama's 20 year history in politics arose from Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

The Rezko trial involves charges of extortion, fraud, money laundering, kickbacks, bribes; CRIMES
& Political CORRUPTION (at every level of government City, County, State, National) involving: allegedly,
Rezko, Mayor Daley, Governor Blagojevich, et al for crimes committed in the U.S.; and involving internationally 3 Arabic men: Rezko, Auichi, Alsammarae -for crimes allegedly committed in massive international frauds.

(Auichi was convicted a few years ago in the French Courts of massive fraud/robbery/looting involving the French ELF petroleum company and the U.N. Oil for Food Program.

Alsammarae was convicted in the Iraqi Courts of looting the Iraq electricity grid while he was the Iraqi Minister of Electricity...under Bush-Cheney's Coalition Provisional Authority. Rezko is accused of being Alsammarae's partner in that looting.

The mainstream media is airing very little coverage of Rezko's -City, County, State, National, and International Fraud/Looting trial.

For example, the Federal Prosecution's main witness testifed last week that Obama and his wife DID Attend a party thrown by Rezko at Rezko's Chicago mansion for his guest of honor AUICHI. Obama has previously stated that he: doesn't remember meeting Auichi. WHY is the mainstream media (TV, in particular) not covering the Rezko trial? WHY have they Still NOT Asked Obama if he DID or DID Not attend that party? WHY have they NOT asked Michelle Obama if she attended that party?

The conclusion I have reached from those and many other FACTS I have gathered from my impartial search is:

GE, et. al; the Corrupt Corporate "establishment"
-is running Obama and McCain for President -because they plan to reap $BILLIONS in RISK-FREE Profits from building 29 new nuclear power plants AND $BILLIONS more in RISK-FREE profits---For The NEXT 30-40 Years---from the HIGHER ELECTRICITY RATES produced by building nuke plants. i.e. The NEXT Big Dick Cheney MONOPOLY POWER
just...waiting in the wings...for Obama or McCain to get elected.

Currently, the mainstream media is PUSHING Obama for President and holding a lid on the BAD NEWS about him. If and when it reaches a point where Obama cannot get the nomination the corporate-controlled media will drop him and start pumping out PRO-McCain Propaganda.

GE, Cheney, et al prefer it to be a NO-RISK,
Win-Win (for Them) Presidential election WITH Obama vs. McCain. The Media is NOW pumping out: the contest is Over; Obama's the Winner; the Nomination BETTER NOT get "stolen" from Obama or there'll be HELL to Pay and the Democrat candidate will lose in November.

The Obama campaign was caught red-handed playing the race card to win the South Carolina primary a 4 page internal Obama campaign Memo published online by the Huffington Post...but the Media went right on PUSHING the BIG LIE -they blamed the Clintons. Obama has repeatedly played the race card every time he is in danger of losing.

There are indications online that Obama: used MOBS of poor black people cramming into small govt. offices in Chicago during his "organizing" days to get some of the "changes" he wanted; that Code Pink and a group named ReCreate '68 are threatening to mass mobs of 50,000 in Denver to protest/incite riots at the Democratic Convention IF Obama does not get the nomination. DOES Obama have connections to the groups threatenting HELL to pay at the convention if he doesn't get the nomination...connections that could be covered by...plausible deniability?

Having already...recklessly, despicably, dangerously, played the race card repeatedly & supposing...Obama does have connections with left wing extremist groups...could electing him President get us -WORSE THAN BUSH-...incitement of interracial strife for purposes of Political Control... incitement of left-wing extremists/ riots for purposes of Political CONTROL? ...with the MEDIA aiding, abetting, lying and distorting...Reality...just like they are doing now?

Things that don't add up:

If Clinton is "the establishment" candidate -Why is her campaign constantly running out of money
while Obama has been rolling in CASH thruout the campaign?

The media tries to cover that by saying: well...her wealthy contributors have already given the maximum amount the law allows -they can't contribute anymore funds.

That's ridiculous. The "establishment" has enough cash to hire all the bundlers they need to go out and rustle up more cash from individuals employed at ALL Their Corporations, and from any other source. The media continues to PUSH the BIG LIE that Obama does not accept money from Lobbyists/Corporations -when a very brief search on Google will quickly turn up detailed confirmation of the fact that he accepts money from the same large corporate sources as the other candidates.

If Clinton is the "establishment" candidate...WHY isn't the corporate-controlled media PUSHING HER for President?

Obama's got the money. He's got the MEDIA Propaganda. He's the establishment candidate.

What's wrong with building 29 nuclear power plants?

Hillary Clinton: nuclear can be considered in the future IF they can make it CHEAPER and find a way to safely and permanently dispose of the nuclear waste.

Nuke waste/nuke waste dumps have been a steadily deepening nightmare for the past 50 years. (Google: Hanford WA nuclear waste dump; Rocky Flats CO plutonium, Barnwell South Carolina groundwater nuclear waste dump.

ALL the nuke waste dumps are CLOSED. Nuke waste has been stored ON-SITE at the nuke plants for the past several DECADES; providing several hundred terrorist targets vulnerable to devastating consequences from just ONE RPG.

The nuclear industry is already running a modicum of Pro-Nuke Propaganda Ads. They have bought up a few "environmentalists" & manufactured a lot more -for the LAUNCH of their upcoming NUKE PROPAGANDA CAMPAIGN (The Nukes are GREEN & CLEAN Ad Campaign)-that will start-right after the November Prersidential election.

What can YOU do about it? Copy & Paste this message -email it to everyone on your email list. Google: "North Carolina blogs politics" and post this everywhere you can -post it on Newspaper, TV, and radio blogs. Do the SAME for all the upcoming PRIMARY far in advance of the Primary Date as you can.

"Getting off coal to go nuclear is like giving up cigarettes to take up smoking crack" (I wish I knew where I read that quote so I could give credit to the author of it.)

Is that slime Jake D. still around? Fighter jets? I read that McCain finished towards the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy and he had crashed 4 other jets before he was shot down in Vietnam. He sounds like a real good pilot and student. What was it that they use to call him, McNasty? Yes, that's it. Senator Obama will be the next POTUS. We can't afford a 72 year old man with a bad temper and calls his wife terrible names, not to mention leaving his first wife for the rich Cindy who's what, 18 years younger than him? John McCain is not a very nice man, attacks a Senator from his own party and a Congressman from his own state. This country deserves better.

The front page of the Wall Street Journal (4/21) provided an article on Obama's history which is a trail of higher ambition, lies and nefarious political tricks, and more lies mixed with poor judgment. Obama has carefully crafted a political career ladder with the same campaign speech of anti-establishment, hope and change. Of course the "change" he is always proposing is that he win the campaign! This is a surprise to no one who knows him - Obama wants to be the "King" of the establishment, which so happens to include you and me! Obama refused a request from the Journal to be interviewed for the story. Obama is unable to converse except with ministerial rhetoric fashioned to win his elections. We have all seen the person who gets the new job and then sits in front of their computer not knowing what to do.

Gosh-I thought Obama was responsible for all that legislation. Hmm, I wonder if he was playing Basketball instead. Present.

I called Kelley last week and he recollected the private conversation as follows:

"He said, ''Cliff, I''m gonna make me a U.S. Senator.''"

"Oh, you are? Who might that be?"

"Barack Obama."

Jones appointed Obama sponsor of virtually every high-profile piece of legislation, angering many rank-and-file state legislators who had more seniority than Obama and had spent years championing the bills.

"I took all the beatings and insults and endured all the racist comments over the years from nasty Republican committee chairmen," State Senator Rickey Hendon, the original sponsor of landmark racial profiling and videotaped confession legislation yanked away by Jones and given to Obama, complained to me at the time. "Barack didn''t have to endure any of it, yet, in the end, he got all the credit.

"I don''t consider it bill jacking," Hendon told me. "But no one wants to carry the ball 99 yards all the way to the one-yard line, and then give it to the halfback who gets all the credit and the stats in the record book."

Hillary Clinton, as with the Bosnia sniper fire delusion, suffers from a fantasy that she is the front-runner, and with her forever shifting goalposts, her new fuzzy math and kitchensink-sewer, failed and bankrupt campaign, wants Obama to give her FREE AIR TIME to debate her for the TWENTY-SECOND time. I am an Asian American feminist older than Mrs. Clinton and as an American patriot, I need to do the right thing and tell Mrs. Clinton, shut up already! The Clinton dynasty has been spoiling not just Obama's race in November but also the entire Democratic Party and its representatives'--congressmen, governors, district officers, mayors, etc, etc--abiliity to win in future elections. Bill is fighting Obama to return to the WH for a third term, and Obama has been fighting not just two Clintons (both playing every dirty card in politics) but also the GOP and the mainstream media who want to see the contest continue and their high ratings maintained. Senator Obama MUST denounce and reject Hillary's shameless agenda, to gain free public airtime off his back. He MUST stop treating Hillary as an older white woman like his mother and therefore to be respected and see her for the corrupt (25 million dollars gained from influence peddling last year alone), lying (Bosnia sniper fire), bullying (Judas name-calling), ruthless (just look at her ads), unelectable (highest negatives ever in a presidential candidate, and negatives increasing every day) small human that she is. He MUST begin to draw the contrasts in campaign tone, character, and track record on community work and protection of our constitution that show Hillary as the base candidate that she is.

Good for Senator Obama. I had read he was a good b-ball player and he proved it. Is there anything more street, more urban and less elitist than a game of 3 on 3 pick up b-ball in the neighborhood school yard? As a kid growing up from Brooklyn, the answer is an emphatic No.

Senator Obama should have stuck with his A-game in PA when showing off his sports side. I'm sure he could have gone to Williamsport, PA, home of the Little League World Series and taken some batting practice and tossed some baseballs to some high schoolers. What's more apple pie than America's past time and baseball is the story of America in the 20th century?

Obama is the one who has ABSOLUTELY KILLED HIS ELECTABILTY. That is the true truth.

About the nomination. Somebody wrote:

That settles it. He can shoot a three-pointer.

Why doesn't Hillary quit the race now?

Obama is the device with which the Democratic party can manage to get defeated in November.

I hope Obama slam dunks Grandpa Simpson McCain in November.

I am glad to see Obama has a chance to have fun as being the target of Hillary and Bill and the Republicans all at the same time has got to be a huge downer. I cant wait to see HIllary out there on the court making nice with the basketball fans. Another tremendous photo opportunity of a woman who will do anything to steal what she thinks is entitled to her.

Oops -- here is the Link for You Tube-- This is the man that Barack did not want to attack and go after Hillary in PA:

alance, instead the Americans elect a person who wears a Flag lapel pin to prove his patriotism, has an IQ of a moron, cannot read a newspaper to save his life, annihilates the whole nation of Iraq on a whim and runs the finances of the country down. All the while calling himself a Christian. Way to go!!!

Obama is running a different kind of politics. He would have finished her off if he had just hinted to one of his supporters to run the following to destroy Ed Rendell and pushed PA votes towards him:

But he didn't. That is his character.

However he needs to come down from being that Chicago Professor and not get into analysis of why people have problems in rural America.

But sometimes we may have to forgive his flaws and "hire" him-- rather than someone with very old ideas as MCCain.

Hillary-- I won't even consider-- she simply lies.

Newsday investigated Hillary Clinton's claim this week to Inside Edition that she "didn't know anything" about her husband commuting the sentence of Weather Underground member Susan Rosenberg. Newsday found this claim to be highly suspect. Methinks there's a Bosnia-size whopper there - should others in the mainstream media feel inclined to look. And given that she has been attacking Obama for his pretty tangential ties to Bill Ayers, I think it's fair game for people to push her about what she knew and when.

Newsday story:

Obama better enjoy it, he won't be hooping again for a long long time.

This election is coming down to a white v black vote - with a candidate's values trumping the issues like trade, war and the economy. The Bill Moyers' interview of Rev. Wright last night was very revealing. This wild eyed crazy preacher is still stuck on slave ships of 300 years ago. He boasts that he can get away with outrageous statements in America - that would get him killed in many other countries of the world - for treason. Americans do not want to elect a president who has been listening to treason for 20 years. It is a no wonder that his wife has no pride in her country and he is ashamed of a little flag pin.

The Democrats will cancel each other out and McCain will become president next January.

This is for JakeD. I've seen his comments on other sites too. It is amusing and somehow sad that the (deplorable) paucity of any depth and understanding, and an overall inability to make a sensible argument is disguised by the persistent capitalization of Obama's middle name. If you're trying to make a point, you lost then and there. Your stance belies a preteen IQ. And is so predictable. A discussion of BO's basketball prowess brings on the juvenile "My guy is a better fighter pilot than your guy". It is really quite depressing. If this is the kind of person who generally votes Republican, I rest my case. Neither Obama, nor Hillary for that matter, needs the JakeD kind of endorsement. McCain can have him, thank you. He's probably one of the 28 percent who thinks Bush is doing a 'heckuva job', anyway. Is it any wonder, then, that the world looks down on Americans?

so if obama is good at it, it's not trivial?

my God, the guy's a walking talking arsehole.

Do some news, report on how his stance changes based on how positive the spin is for him

He also expressed, as did other big givers who crossed to Obama, exasperation about the tone of the Clinton campaign and frustration with the candidate herself.
"At the end of the day, all she had to do was open her mouth for me not to believe her," Louis-Dreyfus said.

When I heard about the b-ball outing, I thought it sounded like a great image move. Then I saw clip of it on tv. He was good on the court -- too good. He bounced around like a 16 year old and looked like one too. His other image problem is striking a lot of voters as an inexperienced youth.

Maybe HCs campaign will have her don on some camo and go duck hunting and slug back a few shots of whiskey after the shoot.

Sure, just as soon as Barack HUSSEIN Obama takes on McCain with a fighter jet at 20,000 feet ...

I know its the kind of stupid politics we'd like to hate, but I believe that if Obama had played bball in Philly instead of bowling into the gutter, he would have ended up 1-2% closer to Clinton in Pennsylvania.

HERE'S THE REAL STORY !!!!! The media diagnoses every demo....the bowlers, gun toters and beer drinkers.....And somehow ALWAYS finds a way to give the advantage to Clinton. But just yesterday, the media finally began to raise the most incredible point in the whole race. HILLARY HAS LOST THE SUPPORT OF AN ENTIRE RACE OF PEOPLE !!!!!!!! Do you know how incredibly sad this fact is ? Hillary Clinton (who's husband was so loved as to have been called The First Black President) has alienated the black people of America to such a degree that there is no way blacks will support her EVER. This has nothing to do with Obama !!!! Keep in mind folks....Hillary started this campaign with 82% of the black support. But as blacks learned more about her (Goldwater Girl....Against Civil Rights Act of '64...etc.) combined with her LBJ statements and Bill's minimizing of Obama (fairy tale...Jesse won S.Carolina too...etc) blacks were shocked...and then incredibly offended by these revelations to a degree that can never be recovered. WE FEEL DECEIVED !!!! We hope that our friends of all races understand how we as blacks feel. This is the main story that needs to get out to the superdelegates. People across America are contacting the DNC 202-863-8000 to let them (and superdelegates) know that Hillary ABSOLUTELY KILLED HER ELECTABILTY. The truth is the truth !

I'd like to see him take on McCain in a game. Maybe JMac would have a heart attack right then and there...

In all seriousness, it's a good move from the campaign. Show off his skills in a widely popular (and not elitist) sport like basketball. Gotta score some points with the Hoosier crowd, right?
