In Oregon, Obama Samples Local Flavors

Barack Obama chose Mint Chip and Green Tea at Prince Puckler's ice cream shop in Eugene, Ore. (Associated Press).

EUGENE, Ore. -- With temperatures hitting the 90s here today, Sen. Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, paused his campaign for an ice cream break.

The rolling campaign, in a motorcade of three buses, three SUVs, two cars and one minivan, pulled onto a narrow downtown street and stopped in front of Prince Puckler's Gourmet Ice Cream and Coffee. The corner shop is just a few blocks from the University of Oregon campus, and a crew was busy scooping cones for an afternoon crowd of students and young parents.

Camera crews packed behind the counter and bathing-suit-clad customers watched, mouths agape, as the presidential hopeful and his wife strolled in.

Obama, sleeves rolled up and collar open, immediately began surveying options that included Banana Brownie and Muddy River. He asked his aide, Reggie Love, what flavor he wanted. The former Duke basketball player said, "Bubble Gum."

"You're showing your age," Obama said with a smile, then asked for a taste of the Green Tea.

Michelle Obama didn't need to study the cases. She went with Chocolate. "I'm a purist," she said.

Obama settled on Mint Chip, "with a slice of Green Tea on the side."

I live in Eugene, and it's my favorite place for ice cream. It's nowhere close to downtown as this article implies.

He should of also ventured to McMennamins across the street from the ice cream shop and sampled some of Oregon's Microbrews. The people and the beer are certainly better than the cheap Rolling Rock beer in PA.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT.....My Fellow Americans.... Barack Obama has finally crossed the line!!!!!!!!! Obama has gone too far!!! He has insulted every Vietnam Vet in West Virginia and Kentucky. Obama has no right to finally stick on his flag pin now, stage all those flags behind him and attempts to align himself or address the Vietnam War. WV. and KY. are largely vets, patriots, Bluegrass people, and we revere God, Country, and the American Flag and take this subject very seriously. I am sickened to see Obama act like he knows what it means to be a Vietnam Vet. Obama has no idea what patriotism means. No matter what the other states say that voted for Obama, KY. and WV. say it DOES matter who Obama aligns himself with and in bed with.(which we will prove) WV. and KY. are going to say it loud and clear with our vote is for Hillary. Obama can bypass us with his trash talk. I for one am appalled and sicken by the God, Country, Jesus, and the Flag hating states and superdelegates that voted for Obama; they are betrayers of this great country. What an insult and a phony, putting that Flag pin on now just for WV. And KY.!! Many Vets tell me they wish Obama and his God, Country, and the Flag hating bedfellows were in Vietnam with them so that they would have left them face down in a rice patty for disrespecting God, Country, and the American Flag, which they fought and died for without batting an eye. So we say:"NOT God Dam America, But God Dam Barack Obama." KY. and WV. are down to earth, common sense, patriotic states and are not fooled by empty talk. We believe in blind faith only when it comes to God and Jesus, which Obama likes to think he is, but isn't either. So do the honorable thing Obama and pass up West Virginia and Kentucky You're Not Welcome Here!!!! ( by fellow Kentuckian)

Now is the time to devote our time and energies to the general election.

Now it's time to address the "change that we deserve" that the GOP has been spouting, while we have been distracted by the primary debate.

Now it's time for Obama '08 to begin full power, full steam and in earnest, and for each of us to put our full energy behind the effort.

If you haven't been able to get to an Obama rally, or have, and want to take it with you, you can get the entire Obama rally setlist--all the way from U2's "City of Blinding Lights", to which Obama takes the stage, to the Obama victory anthem "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" at ITunes, here:

boy, I thought the story about Huckabee making the sick joke at Nra deserved more ink than this, but what do I know? What about the sums the campaigns raised during April. I haven't heard that yet.

As a truly qualified elite liberal I find Senator Obama's commitment to eating dairy really disappointing. The East Campus neighborhood in Eugene is a great place, but Prince Puckler's is part of the great American Coronary Waiting to Happen. What kind of example are we setting for our children? Eat dairy, die young? Tsk, tsk.

Get a grip Senator Obama. Order Cookies N' Cream, or Rocky Road, or Coffee, or a Chocolate Shake. Mint Chip is a good blue-collar choice, but NO Green Tea ! ! ! It's code for elite liberal.

Wow, he eats ice cream just like the rest of us! What a wonderfully cheerful and heart-warming report!

Unfortunately, it appears that WaPo hack Matthew Mosk was close enough to Obama to ask him about one or more of the huge glaring flaws in his policies, yet for one reason or other Mosk decided to write about ice cream instead.

If any regular citizens would like to do the job Matthew Mosk refuses to do and ask Obama real questions, try one of these:

Then, upload Obama's response to Youtube and prepare to be famous.
