Dear Editor,

John McCain's medical records were provided to a small select group of reporters for 3 hours. No photocopies were allowed.

When I called senator McCain's campaign headquarters I was told the following:
• Those records were released in Arizona by Senator McCain's doctors.
• The records are not available to the public.
• The records are public records.
• The records will be accessible through the Federal Elections Commission.

I was repeatedly forwarded to full mailboxes and had to call back 3 times. I called the FEC and was told that they provide access to financial records, period.

Providing over 1000 pages of medical records in this fashion is not public disclosure. It is not even disclosure to the professionals who were there to read them. This is clearly a measure aimed at satisfying the public while at the same time, retaining the privacy of the great majority of the information in the records.

If there is something in Senator McCain's records which we, as voters, should know, we will never know if it is there and was missed in the great bulk of material or if it was simply excluded from what was provided.

I think it's important to know whether Senator McCain has been thoroughly evaluated for Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome. He is certainly at risk due to his imprisonment and torture and over the years has displayed some symptoms, e.g.: substance abuse, anger problems.

My life is worth the same on day 1 as it is on day 2000.

McCain is worse than any swiftboat pilot.

That's not true -- see thread below -- there is a sliding scale, however, that GIVES MORE to those who put in more time.

You have to do TWO enlistments for McCain to consider you worth anything.

McCain has about the worst military record you could have, and this guy dares to tell REAL soldiers that they are worthless!

McCain has no honor.

Malignant melanoma accounts for 75 percent of all deaths associated with skin cancer.

Are you aware that McCain's proposed GI Bill has HIGHER benefits for vets who serve more than 1 enlistment? His (legitimate) concern was a decrease in retention rates when the military is already stretched thin. There's an entire thread on the subject below.

Did you read the FIVE PAGE medical report?

He is CANCEROUS in his approach to the POTUS and that is all I need to know about McSameBush! To think he could NOT even vote on the GI bill to thank the men and women he asked to risk life and limb in Iraq for all of us, speaks volumes to me! He need say no more! I know he is cancerous! See his excellent 'double talk' in link provided:

Again, am I the ONLY person to actually read all FIVE PAGES before commenting?

Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer.

Good thing the report does not use the word "clean" then. I mean, seriously, am I the ONLY person to actually read all FIVE PAGES before commenting? Maybe this will keep your attention-span long enough:

"At the present time, Senator McCain enjoys excellent health and displays extraordinary energy. While it is impossible to predict any person's future health, today I can find no medical reason or problems that would preclude Senator McCain from fulfilling all the duties and obligations of President of the United States."

"Many questions have been asked about the removal of the invasive melanoma from Senator McCain's left lower temple in August 2000 ... To summarize, we continue to find no evidence of metastasis or recurrence of the invasive melanoma as we approach the eighth anniversary of that operation ... The prognosis for Senator McCain is good because the time of greatest risk for recurrence of invasive melanoma is within the first few years after the surgery."

"To answer what appears to be numerous questions about the prominence of the Senator's left jaw: this is a result of an absence of soft tissue on the face in front of his ear that makes the masseter (the chewing muscle) over the jaw appear more prominent. To be clear, the swelling is not due to any evidence of cancer."

I hardly call cancer a clean record.

matt (from PAGE ONE of the report):

"Also, to be clear about the issue of the timing of the May 23rd press conference, the release of the Senator's medical information is a combination of two factors: scheduling and making certain that the release included the most recent medical information. The Senator had physician visits at Mayo Clinic as recently as earlier this month. Consequently, the date of May 23rd was the earliest possible time that could be scheduled following his last visit, given the calendars of the campaign staff as well as his three Mayo Clinic physicians, and also taking into consideration the minimum amount of time necessary to have complete information regarding his most recent medical evaluations." (Emphasis Added)

Has ANYONE read the report?

Posted by: JakeD | May 23, 2008 1:56 PM

If his record is clean, why release these on the cusp of a holiday weekend? That strikes me as sketchy...

Posted by: matt | May 23, 2008 1:35 PM

No, Playa. Did you read it yet, or you want to continue commenting without reading it first?

Did the medical report tell us what brand of adult diaper McSame uses?
