Clinton Again Seeks to Explain RFK Remarks

By Anne E. Kornblut
What mistakes have you made, and what lessons have you learned from them?

That was the question reporter John Dickerson of Slate.com famously stumped President Bush with at a press conference in April of 2004. So far, Dickerson has not taken a crack at Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton -- but with the Democratic fight drawing to a close, someone is sure to pose the question to her soon.

In the meantime, Clinton has criticism of others to offer. On Sunday, the New York Daily News published a letter from Clinton, which the campaign later issued as a statement entitled "Why I Continue to Run." Clinton revisited her remarks about Robert F. Kennedy's assassination in 1968 -- and blamed, implicitly, the Obama campaign and the media for causing an uproar.

"This past Friday, during a meeting with a newspaper editorial board, I was asked about whether I was going to continue in the presidential race," she said. "I made clear that I was -- and that I thought the urgency to end the 2008 primary process was unprecedented. I pointed out, as I have before, that both my husband's primary campaign, and Sen. Robert Kennedy's, had continued into June."

"Almost immediately, some took my comments entirely out of context and interpreted them to mean something completely different -- and completely unthinkable," she wrote. "I want to set the record straight: I was making the simple point that given our history, the length of this year's primary contest is nothing unusual." She went on to say that she "was deeply dismayed and disturbed" that her comment about RFK's assassination would be construed as anything other than a historical reference.

Voters, however, have expressed deep-seated concerns for Sen. Barack Obama's safety -- concerns which form the backdrop against which the RFK comments played out, and which Clinton did not mention in her letter. Given this widely-shared worry, any mention of a political shooting would likely have sparked a firestorm, regardless of Clinton's intentions or the immediate context of her remarks.

In a Washington Post-ABC News poll taken in March, nearly six in ten Americans said they were worried that someone might try to harm Obama if he were the nominee -- more than double the percentage who said they were worried about the same for Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee. Among African Americans, the concern was even greater: more than eight in 10 said they would be worried about Obama's safety, including 55 percent who said they would be "very concerned" (20 percent of whites said they would have that level of fear).

Clinton, in the same letter, also explained her persistence in the campaign -- which was the original question she was asked on Friday.

It should be added that, as Dan Balz and I write in today's The Washington Post, Clinton is primarily now seeking a victory in the popular vote (here she says she is already winning it), in order to maximize her strength over the next few weeks, as the voting comes to an end and superdelegates make up their minds.

Until then, it is unlikely that Clinton will be granting Dickerson an interview, or pointing the finger at herself.

The remainder of Clinton's letter follows here:

"Today, I would like to more fully answer the question I was asked: Why do I continue to run, even in the face of calls from pundits and politicians for me to leave this race?

I am running because I still believe I can win on the merits. Because, with our economy in crisis, our nation at war, the stakes have never been higher - and the need for real leadership has never been greater - and I believe I can provide that leadership.

I am not unaware of the challenges or the odds of my securing the nomination - but this race remains extraordinarily close, and hundreds of thousands of people in upcoming primaries are still waiting to vote. As I have said so many times over the course of this primary, if Sen. Obama wins the nomination, I will support him and work my heart out for him against John McCain . But that has not happened yet.

I am running because I believe staying in this race will help unite the Democratic Party . I believe that if Sen. Obama and I both make our case - and all Democrats have the chance to make their voices heard - in the end, everyone will be more likely to rally around the nominee.

I am running because my parents did not raise me to be a quitter - and too many people still come up to me at my events, grip my arm and urge me not to walk away before this contest is over. More than 17 million Americans have voted for me in this race - the most in presidential primary history.

I am running for all those women in their 90s who've told me they were born before women could vote, and they want to live to see a woman in the White House . For all the women who are energized for the first time, and voting for the first time. For the little girls - and little boys - whose parents lift them onto their shoulders at our rallies, and whisper in their ears, "See, you can be anything you want to be." As the first female candidate in this position, I believe I have a responsibility to finish this race.

I am running for all the men and women I meet who wake up every day and work hard to make a difference for their families. People who deserve a shot at the American Dream - the chance to save for college, a home and retirement; to afford quality health care for their families; to fill the gas tank and buy the groceries with a little left over each month.

I believe I won a 40-point victory two weeks ago in West Virginia and a 35-point victory in Kentucky this past week - despite voters being repeatedly told this race is over - because I'm standing up for them. I'm standing up for the deepest principles of our party and for an America that values the middle class and rewards hard work.

Finally, I am running because I believe I'm the strongest candidate to stand toe-to-toe with Sen. McCain. Delegate math might be complicated - but electoral math is not. Our campaign is winning the popular vote - and we've been winning the swing states we need to get 270 electoral votes and take back the White House: Pennsylvania , Ohio , Arkansas , New Hampshire , New Jersey , New Mexico , Nevada , Michigan , Florida and West Virginia.

But no matter what happens in this primary, I am committed to unifying this party. Ultimately, what Sen. Obama and I share is so much greater than our differences. And I know that if we come together, as a party and a people, there is no challenge we cannot meet, no barrier we cannot break and no dream we cannot realize."

There is so much anger and ignorance in the minds and thoughts of so many "White" Americans, that "God" forbid that you were oppressed by the "Black" man for the last century or so.

There is also an ignorance so prevalent in the minds of so many, who's constant denial of reality is truly scary, that as an intelligent "Black" man, I fear that their ignorance could mean doom for the rest of us... as you seem to prefer the "Scorched Earth" policy of the "Bush'es"... or logic more befitting a child's "I'm Gonna Take My Marbles Home With Me" mentality.

Not sure if those "Lost Souls" believe in the phrase... "Reaping What You Sow", but if that is in fact our country's future, then we all should worry more about that revelation... rather than waste time arguing the irrational logic of whether a woman who thought she was the inevitable nominee for president gets rejected "Fair & Square" and beaten resoundingly by a one term Senator, who happens to be black!!!

Change is sometimes a mutha... but "God" is it so necessary in this country!

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Please chill, I know this is hard to swallow at times, but if a person believes he/she can do something let them try until it is proven otherwise. This will not destroy the Dems. This is a heat of the battle passion that is good. People have their change and voting juices flowing full force, at least we are all coming out to say something in the democratic process. Hillary has qualities for this process and is like the energizer bunny. But we will all get over it in a month or so, and then come back together under the big tent of the Democratic party, and beat the pants off John McCain in November.
Please let us all stay together in this election, it is way too important for personal preferences to take our eyes off the larger picture - that is of making America well and great, not only from sea to shining sea, but all across the world again. We are a great power because our people are great, not just because we have bigger bombs, a lesson well learned in the fiasco in Iraq.
We want a landslide in the polls in Nov. in the House, in the Senate, and in the presidency so we can get something done in this great country.

is there truly no end to her stupidity? and these comments come about scripted, imagine just letting her speak?

A wise man once told me that there's nothing you can do with ignorance except stand back and admire it.

Looks like there's a lot to admire in the comments section.

Anybody can cut and paste propaganda in a comment section. But it takes a special kind of resolve and ignorance to post the misspellings that go along with it.

New rule: you're automatically discounted from the discussion if you can't spell, proofread, use correct capitalization, or use punctuation in a relatively appropriate manner.

And, by the way, most people tend to ignore words in ALL CAPS and SKIP right over THEM. Go get some of that pent up aggression out by VOLUNTEERING, finding a HOBBY, and/or lifting WEIGHTS.

Read something you wouldn't normally read and think before you speak.

So some hillary supporters here are ready to vote McCain if she doesnt get the nod? How daft is that? their policies (HRC and Barack) are virtually identical.. is it policies youre going to vote for or are you going to vote purely based on your emotional attachment to a candidate?...

Are you really going to cut off your nose to spite your face?

This is why america is in such a mess... people dont vote intelligently, they get wrapped up in an emotional debate and dont even bother to look at facts...

Vote as you wish, its your right...if you want to vote McCain because your "pissed" that HRC isnt the democratic candidate thats fine... I think you would be better served to Vote McCain because you agree with his policies..and not because he ISNT Obama

Being an old white woman, reared in the segregated south, I have noooo problem with Michelle Obama railing against "whitey". God knows whites have harmed blacks in far worse ways. Not you, but of course, but then Michelle doesn't mean you The problem is that guilty whites fear judgment from blacks. Reason enough to keep them down, eh? One Pennsylvanian went so far as to yell at a white woman campaigning for Obama, "Hang that darkie from a tree!" That's raw fear.

President Obama A Victory For Islam

If Barack Obama Enters The White House, Islam Will Have Conquered The Heart Of American Civilization. Said; IsraCast, Menashe Amir an Israeli expert on Iran.

How does Iran view the possibility that Barack Hussein Obama, a former Muslim, might win the U.S. presidential election? Menashe Amir, an Israeli expert on Iran, says not only Iran but also the rest of the Muslim world, will view it as victory for Islam. In an interview with IsraCast, Menashe Amir quoted an important Iranian personality who declared: "If Obama enters the White House, Islam will have conquered the heart of American society!" However, President Ahmadinejad has said that he did not believe the U.S establishment would let Obama win. If Barack Hussein Obama wins the U.S. presidential election, Muslims will view it as a victory and forget that he converted from Islam to Christianity" - that's the view of Israeli analyst Menashe Amir. In fact one leading Iranian personality recently said: "If Obama enters the White House, Islam will have conquered the heart of American society.

BOYCOTT CNN & MSNBC for manipulating the Presidential election with the biased pushing of obama before researching.

Terrorist Group Hamas Wants Obama As President this post:

VOTERS DEMAND Obamas tell America about their relationship with Ayers, Gadaffi Syrian tycoon, Antoin Rezko, Saudi Arabian Scheiks and Nadhami Auchi, Iraqi billionaire, global arms dealer who was best friends with Saddam Hussein, and the main financial backer for Saddam's Iraqi -Saudi oil pipeline, and stood trial with Saddam Hussein for conspiring to assassinate Iraqi President Qasim. VOTERS are concerned why CNN & MSNBC refuse to question those relationships, coupled with Obama's 20 plus yrs with Rev. Wright shows a serious pattern, which Obama seems quite comfortable with people who really, really, really HATE U.S of America. If you question him or his values or policies, you're part of the "divisive, distracting" practices voters associate with Washington. Them's the Obama Rules.

DEMOCRATES NEED CLINTON TO WIN IN GENERAL ELECTION!

We are told it is why Obama's recent statement urging Republicans to lay off his wife, as if Michelle Obama's behavior, provocative statements and high-profile stance during his campaign should somehow be immune from examination and criticism and we should just allow her to call Americans MEAN because she isn't proud of her country or like white folks! Now we understand why Obama's chief political adviser David Alexrod on National Public Radio claimed white working class Democrats barely exist and hardly matter, white working class has gone to the Republican nominee for many elections, This is not new, WE don't need or rely solely on those votes.

Let her continue....The story is about to end for her and the Clinton Dynasty. The story ends at her own hand....I believe she has seen the writing on the wall since March. the problem is she has been changing GLASSES to try and see the writing a different way.....Everytime it becomes clearer she picks up a different pair of glasses in hopes that we'll somehow fall into her delusion and think, "Yeah, maybe she right". Problem is, WE'RE NOT BUYING IT.

Yes... In the end Clinton thinks she can win the nomination by winning the overall popular vote in the primaries.
That was the exact strategy of Bobby Kennedy in 68 and his brother before him in 1960.
The media was different back then. For better or for worse, they were not calling on the Kennedys to step down.
Remember, Teddy Kennedy took it all the way to the convention. And he was 960 delegates behind Carter. The media in 1980 was not screaming for Kennedy to quit.
Hillary is only 187 delegates behind ( pending the May 31st ruling) and the media today is ... well, you know the rest.

------------

This is exactly the point. Hillary needed to be in the news again - because the media is looking past her sinking ship. She catapulted herself right back to the headlines with a well-timed and not-so-subliminal interjection.

The Clinton's are seasoned political pros, this was not a gaffe, or unintentional statement. Look at all the free news and discussion time she bought her sagging and debt-ridden candidacy.

Brilliant but despicable move. She's still a horrible candidate. Once they got headline time again, Bill just shifted back to their delegate "Chaos Math" theories and conspiracy stories about "the real numbers." Sad to see a former president still out peddling his twisted nonsense.

Senator Hillary Clinton actually has the highest percentage of Democratic supporters based upon the states she has won and the number of people who have voted for her! Obama's delegate count is a myth, similar to him.
Wall Street Journal (5/15/08) "Obama's Strategy for Low-Turnout Caucuses Helps Drive Delegate Edge."

Check out the Wall Street Journal for a very simple explanation on page A6 of how the Democratic Party counts the delegates . . . the system is very convoluted and makes no sense.

However, it explains the false count that gives Obama the preception of leading in this campaign.

Hillary's putting up a front to justify why she's staying in this contest. It has nothing to do with the people or the women. It surely isn't to unite the Democrat party. There's too much concern for others, and thats not Hillary. She's thinking of others before she thinks of herself. That is so much out of character for Hillary, no one is going to buy that. Hillary's staying in this contest for one reason and one reason only, Hillary Clinton. Everyone has seen the different games plans Hillary has tried and using the assassination of RFK was just another one of her schemes to see if it hit home in light of Ted Kennedy and his illness. Was Hillary sorry. No, she wasn't. She jumped in front of a camera to explain herself, she wrote a column, then she said now it's time to move on. Where was I'm sorry, it was a bad example. There was no remorse, Hillary said and did the appropriate things needed to explain herself and now it's time to move on. To Hillary it was a small thing.

Juan Williams, a political analyst with NPR and Fox News, has a clear message for the DNC and the Super Delegates which appeared in the New York Daily News:

"It is not inconsistent, unfair or unsavory to point out, at the same time that Obama has been growing weaker over the months in his ability to win all but black voters. Nor am I necessarily suggesting that white voters are drifting from him because of his race - as opposed to judgments about the content of his character or candidacy.

This is about facing facts. And history will reflect poorly on Democrats if they believe it is virtuous to ignore race in the name of nominating the first black candidate for the White House - even if it means giving the Republicans a better chance to once again walk away with the big prize of the presidency."

It is far more likely that Hillary's supporters will cast their votes for McCain, based upon his patriotism and character.

If this primary goes to Obama it is an election fix worthy of a third world country.

Posted by: Anonymous | May 27, 2008 6:29 PM | Report abuse

SO? What about the wide-spread worry about Senator Hillary Clinton's welfare and Senator John McCain's welfare?

Get real! Do you think there is only concern about Obama's welfare?

Why is the media stoning Senator Hillary Clinton because of her referral to a very active Democratic primary in June, 1968?

Robert Kennedy's son is questioning the hullabaloo, and sane people are wondering about the insanity of the hype. Especially the vitriol coming from the Obama camp and his Toadies.

Senator Hillary Clinton was justifying why she continues to stay in this race, which is what she ought to do.

Senator Hillary Clinton has connections to Robert Kennedy's campaign, but reporters are too damn stupid to acknowledge them in the press. They want to write dirt and garbage stories about her.

During the presidential race in 1968, Robert Kennedy declared that he was "loyal to the Democratic party," but added that he felt stronger about the U.S. and mankind generally."

The Democratic Party was in tumult, and Robert Kennedy was branded a," Judas" by Chicago Mayor Richard Daly, who saw him as a dangerous and divisive figure among the Democrats.

Sound familiar? Not much has changed in three decades.

And that's exactly why Hillary Clinton needs to stay in the race!
She is the only candidate to address what Robert Kennedy called the "mindless menace of crime in America."

Clinton released a crime plan reminiscent of her husband's which contributed to the decrease of crime in the 1990s. As Kennedy said, "victims of the violence are black and white, rich and poor, young and old, famous and unknown . . . And yet it goes on and on in this country of ours."

That is as true today at it was in 1968. This is why Clinton needs to stay in the race.

Hillary clearly said the wrong thing. There is no one to blame for what she said except herself. She's responsible for the words that came out of her mouth. She can't put it on Obama, the media, the Kennedy family or anyone else. Obama had to "man up" and apologize for his mistakes quite a few times. Unfortunately, in Hillary's case an apology may not be enough to convince enough superdelegates to support her. The Kennedy's are the most famous and influential political family in the U.S. and her comments were extremely insensitive and shocking. When you make a decision to run for the highest office in the country everything you say and do is scrutinized. When Barack was being raked over the coals by the media regarding comments made by his former pastor and the "clinging to their guns and religion" statement instead of Hillary being positive and supportive she trashed him. Throughout Barack's campaign he has always taken the high road, that's why I will vote for him in November.

I think it is time for HRC to let the better candidate take the lead and move on. She is trying with all her heart and cheats to stay in. She is saying things and later changing what she said. She is using Obama's speechs or parts of them for her own campaign. I can say I was a Clinton supporter before this election, until I observed how scandalous the Clinton's can be and what they will do to win. I personally don't feel that a women should be president of the US if she can't handle her own home matters(referring to the Clinton sex scandal).
She cries and whines when she doesn't get her way and them people feel sorry for her. She only won Kentucky because this state is stuck in the Jim Crow era. Most of the Kentucky residents and many other Causasians don't even think of Black people as equals. The country is the land of the free and we all own it regardless of color. As one commenter said, I would not be alarmed if in the end HRC called Obama a N-, but let us not forget he is Black and White, but most of all he is a person from the people and for the people.

Since when does this great nation give a black man a pass at anything...for those of you who claim the media is giving Obama a pass...I have one question; what media outlets are YOU looking/reading?

Nevertheless, HRC made a comment that was unacceptable especially in light of the social climate for this particular primary season. And she's smart enough to know that, which leads me to believe that she had a specific motive for using BKennedy's assisnation. Let's keep in mind that HRC is a person who will do ANYTHING for power; what a sure way for her to get the nomination...In my opinion, her statement was a message in disguise to all those, gun-loving, hard-working, middle-class white blue collar workers that support her 3 to 1! And, she thinks that we're too blind to see it that way.

Mark my words before this is all over don't be suprised if she publicly calls him the "N" word.

Not until now did I believe this primary season should be ended...she's gone way over the line with this one!

Quote: "What you can't understand is this: you only get one vote. (If you can figure out how to do it.)"

Easy. Move to Texas. You get two legal votes, if you voted in the primary, you get to vote in the caucus. The Texas Two Step.

By the way, Obama won, with my two votes. LOL

A white, old, educated, voter for Obama.

Why should she end it. I like it because I can look forward to something being said or done that was dumb. If I wait long enough she will do something akin to utterly insane. Desperate times call for desperate measures. What comes up comes out.

This says it all:

""Hillary Clinton, Please Exit with Dignity""

"And at the end of the day, while Hillary Clinton has the grit, she ain't got the numbers. And the longer her fight drags on--with outlandish attempts to equate the status of the Michigan and Florida delegations with the fraudulent Zimbabwean elections or with the fraudulent Florida recount of 2000--the greater the disservice to the party, the people and the country.

Bill Clinton liked to say-and let me paraphrase-- we are a country in which people who play by the rules should get ahead.

The rules were the rules when the DNC laid them down to all the campaigns. At the time, the Clinton team, like all the others, agreed to abide by them. The rules are rules. Yet, in these last days, with Bill Clinton out there crying "coverup," it's as if Team Clinton has moved the goalposts so often, they're not even in the ballpark--they're somewhere out in the parking lot."

The real issue is not how well Clinton, Obama, or McCain might do in the closely divided battleground states, but that we shouldn't have battleground states and spectator states in the first place. Every vote in every state should be politically relevant in a presidential election. And, every vote should be equal. We should have a national popular vote for President in which the White House goes to the candidate who gets the most popular votes in all 50 states.

The National Popular Vote bill would guarantee the Presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states (and DC). The bill would take effect only when enacted, in identical form, by states possessing a majority of the electoral votes--that is, enough electoral votes to elect a President (270 of 538). When the bill comes into effect, all the electoral votes from those states would be awarded to the presidential candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states (and DC).

The major shortcoming of the current system of electing the President is that presidential candidates have no reason to poll, visit, advertise, organize, campaign, or worry about the voter concerns in states where they are safely ahead or hopelessly behind. The reason for this is the winner-take-all rule which awards all of a state's electoral votes to the candidate who gets the most votes in each separate state. Because of this rule, candidates concentrate their attention on a handful of closely divided "battleground" states. Two-thirds of the visits and money are focused in just six states; 88% on 9 states, and 99% of the money goes to just 16 states. Two-thirds of the states and people are merely spectators to the presidential election.

Another shortcoming of the current system is that a candidate can win the Presidency without winning the most popular votes nationwide.

The National Popular Vote bill has been approved by 17 legislative chambers (one house in Colorado, Arkansas, Maine, North Carolina, and Washington, and two houses in Maryland, Illinois, Hawaii, California, and Vermont). It has been enacted into law in Hawaii, Illinois, New Jersey, and Maryland. These states have 50 (19%) of the 270 electoral votes needed to bring the law into effect.

Has anyone in the media bothered to notice and tabulate how many times Obama has chosen to avoid personal attacks on Clinton when he could have trashed her for her past and current words and/or actions? Please publish such a list.

As far as I can discern, Hillary, Bill, Terry, Howard, et al. think that it's clever to blame all of their gaffes and blunders on Obama, e.g., it's Obama's campaign's fault that Clinton conjured up horrific possibilities with her recent rhetoric. I wonder if their families, friends, and supporters are proud of their character development?

Ah! So it is *she* who could be assassinated (albeit perhaps metaphorically) in June. And she is using RFK as an example of why she should stay in the race as a testament to her courage.

Fascinating.

Though, in this light, instead of Sen. Clinton giving an incredulous "i can't understand it" referring to the presumed "calls" for her to get out of the race, shouldn't she say something like "i appreciate the fears for my (perhaps just political) safety, but i am not afraid to soldier on".

It is a pretty good take.
Good job.

It still doesn't explain how the opposing darker assassination allusion which some have construed goes against everything she stands for and is fighting for.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THE CLINTONS THAT HASN'T ALREADY BEEN SAID. ITS NO USE THEY DON'T LIVE IN REALITY.

Posted by: BARBARA | May 27, 2008 1:47 AM | Report abuse

Clinton was comparing HERSELF to RFK, but the sexists in this crowd--and that INCLUDES the media--think that a woman can't compare herself to a man.

Both candidates:

--New York Senators
--Over a hundred points BEHIND in the delegate count
--Challenging a "presumptive nominee"
--Ready to take the fight to the convention floor

Of course, the sexist, mostly MALE "pundits" think Obama owns the Kennedy franchise, that only HE can be compared to a Kennedy. That's what is so sick about all this--that the people whining and crying about this are so damned misogynistic, and that includes the women who don't think another woman "deserves" to seek the highest office in the land, that they cannot even SEE what she was saying.

CLINTON is RFK in her analogy--OBAMA is Hubert Humphrey.

I'm so disgusted, I AM ready to vote for McCain. To heck with it. Let the GOP clean up their own mess.

"But I was deeply dismayed and disturbed that my comment would be construed in a way that flies in the face of everything I stand for - and everything I am fighting for in this election."

Could someone explain this line to me?

On policy matters it is well understood that Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama are virtually identical.
Is the current "fight" about the small differences in policy?
Is it about mandating health insurance rather than not?
Is it about a vacation from the gas tax rather than not?

No, she states pretty clearly later that the current fight is about *her* "believing" she is the best candidate and that despite the agreed upon electoral process, if a small number of the right people believe that too, they can use their "better" judgment to make her the candidate, canceling or trumping the will or beliefs of many millions of voters.
More bluntly, it seems to me the fight is pretty much about getting Sen. Clinton the nomination or not.

"everything I stand for - and everything I am fighting for"

Her campaign has said things like "you never know what can happen in politics". She says herself she was not raised to be a quitter, and won't quit before the contest is "over".

Her reference to RFK was condemnable precisely *because* it fits into the current narrative of a small number of well positioned folks (or just one) believing that their belief and her belief that she is the best candidate is more important than the belief of millions of sanctioned voters and their involvement in the sanctioned process.

Gov. Huckabee made a stupid assassination allusion the other week but it did not spark quite the outrage because 1) it did not fit into any "we can still get the nomination" narrative and 2) he said himself that it was a stupid thing to say and that he was sorry (not "disturbed" that anyone thought it was not just a *harmless* off the cuff joke).

[Now, i should say that Sen. Clinton cites some perfectly noble reasons to finish the race. And *really* no one with any respected voice is telling her to get out (pointing out that she has no reasonable chance of winning is different). But her arguments about how everyone who says she can't win is daft is itself as daft and dangerous as the "evolution is just a theory" or the "the science is still out on global warming" arguments.

And, really, is it fair to claim: "I won a 40-point victory two weeks ago in West Virginia and a 35-point victory in Kentucky this past week - despite voters being repeatedly told this race is over - because I'm standing up for them."

Maybe they voted this way because they were also told repeatedly, by at least two people who they should be able to trust, that it wasn't over ... that Sen. Clinton had won more votes, that they shouldn't listen to those that say she didn't or the votes didn't count or that she has virtually no chance of winning... the "does it look like we descended from monkey's" defense.
Her Kentucky and West Virginia blow-outs would hold more weight if she and her husband had been saying "we know the is little to no chance of winning the election. We are behind in the official vote count and can't catch up in the elected delegate count. But your votes still count to me and you will make your voice heard."]

Those tactics made me rethink my original support of her and I've been supporting Obama since that time! When Diane Feinstein said "all women support her", I wanted to write her a letter and tell her to stop "ASSUMING" that just because we are female does NOT automatically mean HRC gets or deserves my support! "I believe I won . . ." She believes she is going to WIN DESPITE THE MATHETICAL LOGIC THAT STATES THE ABSOLUTE OPPOSITE!

With all her "I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I", in her campaign, it is impossible to believe it is about anyone except BUBBA AND BUBBETTE CLINTON!

Where are, "the people" [other than the 90 y/o females. females 60+ y/o and hard working WHITE americans which she failed to state "WHITE" in your above article, but she exploited in WV and KY]?

The media have NOT been "biased against" her. She has been her own worst enemy. With bringing "RACE BAITING" into this primary after 40 years of essentially quiet relations, after using "innuendo" of "I don't 'think' he's a Muslim - wink, wink", after "deliberately dividing" the Dem Party, after deliberately trying to politically "lynch" her opponent with, "you can chose your pastor", after her "blatant lies" about NAFTA, Bosnia, Irish Peace, etc., and after so many 'divisive GOP tactics', how can she make the above statements in 'good faith'?
I don't buy it!

I can't help but believe that she thinks she is WONDER WOMAN and can fly over any building without getting hit by SNIPER FIRE even in Bosnia!

I also think that it if her friends, especially Diane Feinstein, and her family who profess to LOVE her, they would plan an immediate "INTERVENTION" [you know like families do with drug addicts and alcoholics] with the very best psychiatrists available and get her the help she so desperately and obviously needs NOW.

The words Clinton and merits as the woman used do not go together. The Clintons were always out to get all they could finacially and politically. Their actions throughout the nineties left Dems to rationalize their bad behavior by using all kinds of twisted logic. You remember the line,' ... a man's private behavior has nothing to do with his public life.' We knew that was nonsense. Bill remained in office to obtain the full-measure of what he could get out as being President. After the dirtbag's time was up America was bamboozeled into thinking GWB would restore,'...morality,etc.' It is amazing that women, who wouldn't stand for Bill's behavior themselves, support Hillary. The Clinton's time is long past.

It's amazing that the Clintons have so much power to brainwash their cult. First, we are in the primary. The general election is in November when the voters--wait for it--vote. It is not a coronation.

Real Clear Politics has an average of all polls that shows Obama leading Clinton in the primaries by 10.2% nationwide. So much for this popular vote lead you have hallucinated.

Furthermore, in a contest of McCain vs Clinton, she wins by 1.4%. In a contest of McCain vs Obama, he winds by 3.0%. This is before he picks a VP and goes out on the campaign trail

Again, you swallow up lies like a toad eats flies.

This situation reminds me of the joke about the scorpian [Hillary Clinton] and the frog [Obama]. There was a forest fire on a small island in the middle of a very large lake. A frog immediately took to the water to escape the fire. A scorpian saw him and yelled, "take me on your back, I don't want to burm, I can't swim". The frog refused, saying "I'am afraid of that stinger on your tail". The scorpian repeatedly pleaded for help saying "if I sting you, we'll both drown". The frog relented and allowed the scorpian onto it's back. As soon as they reached the deepest part of the lake; "Z-A-A-P". As they submereged [DROWNED] the scorpian says, "I COULD NOT HELP IT; IT'S MY NATURE"

hey mitak,

It's really sad that she takes pandering to new levels. ...etc...

Because Obama never panders, right?

Like how he tried to humiliate Hillary about taking a shot (she was offered) and drinking beer. But, since then he has basically stripped himself of his "suit" and has been seen drinking beer at least of five occassions since then but nay the word about that in the press. Of course, Hillary said nothing about it either, like Obama did, because she has class.

Or like how he told the people of OR that bike lanes, bike lanes, what a joke, would be a major topic for improving our country.

Yeah, okay. There was no pandering going on there.

Look, don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with pandering. You don't like it when someone is nice to you?

Gosh, I should have known it was a woman that wrote THIS article:

Voters, however, have expressed deep-seated concerns for Sen. Barack Obama's safety -- concerns which form the backdrop against which the RFK comments played out, and which Clinton did not mention in her letter. Given this widely-shared worry, any mention of a political shooting would likely have sparked a firestorm, regardless of Clinton's intentions or the immediate context of her remarks.

Why should Clinton have referenced Obama in her ed? IT WAS NOT A COMMENT ABOUT OBAMA IN ANY WAY!!!!!!!! DO YOU HEAR ME!!!!!!!!?????

I understand that the Obama-Messiah-Followers think that every statement in person in political life make is about him but, now try to come to reality, IT IS NOT!!!!!!!!

Clinton has made this statement BEFORE!!!!! It does not refer to OBAMA!!!! UGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

Also, yeah, many are worried about Obama's safety - and also Hillary's!!! - but, back to Obama because I know that is who you are really wanting to read about if you are reading this story....that could only be about Obama (whatever!!!), secret service said that they have never SO EARLY in a campaign EVER covered someone as EARLY AS THEY HAVE OBAMA!!!!!

Can anyone out there hear that!!??

Obama has his own problems - and not because of the misconstruing of Hillary's benign words - yes, I do believe that Obama has people that are racist against him, that is a percentage - what is the size? I can't really say regarding race but I do know that I had to deal with direct racism just in the last few week!!! I was so mad but what can you do? I do not inflame the issue like Obama does. Using it to his forever double edge sword like his reference in his now infamous BITTER SPEACH to the richies!

Obama's life was in danger because of Obama, yes race also though because of more than just race, not JUST because of race.

Obama is a charlatin!

His narcassictic (sp) way of handling this who "it's about me bit" has gone too far this time! PUMPING up the media by jumping on this story then now realizing he went too far and now also realizing that he needs Hillary supporters IF he got the nomination - well, well, well, this little trick of his this time went just a little too far!!!!!!!

I WILL NEVER ACCEPT OBAMA AND IT IS NOT ABOUT HIS FRIGGIN' RACE - CAN YOU HEAR ME OUT THERE!!!! - FOR GOD'S SAKE, OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE WHAT A DISGUSTING PERSON HE IS -

READ THIS -

5/23/2008

Statement from Robert Kennedy Jr.
Robert Kennedy Jr. issued the following statement this evening:

"It is clear from the context that Hillary was invoking a familiar political circumstance in order to support her decision to stay in the race through June. I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband's 1992 race, both of which were hard fought through June. I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense."

It's hilarious that the person who calls Obama ovama thinks that people fainting at Obama's rallies is staged and is somehow evidence of his sexism. I watched that video and Obama is always respectful, always serious: "I think somebody is sick, here," "Somebody fell and must have felt faint. Can we get some water? Do we have a medic" and the only joke he made was "people get too excited about Oprah."
Contrast: when a woman fainted last week while Bill Clinton was talking he quipped, "Somebody faints at nearly every one of these things now. At my age, I didn't think I could make anybody faint anymore."

Um, who's the sexist? And how disrespectful of Hillary! (and has Clinton taken to staging fainting at his rallies to keep competitive?)

"I am running for all those women in their 90s who've told me they were born before women could vote, and they want to live to see a woman in the White House."

I am sure that's a sufficiently large segment of the electorate that would put her on the top in the upcoming general election. Especially in swing states. Must be one of Mark Penn's nano-segments.. Not!

It's really sad that she takes pandering to new levels. I can assure you that this group is so small that if she really wanted to appeal to that segment, it would be a waste of precious mass media space that was used in this communication. But that's not her goal of course. She blows something out of proportion and appeals to the emotions of the masses with this sentence.

"..WHEN we can focus the sun's rays with mirrors & obtain sufficient HEAT to melt steel, or, boil water to MAKE STEAM?"
elme

It would be great and we should definitely develop it to the fullest however, scientists generally agree that we cannot build enough solar panels to generate enough electricity to supply our needs, solar power is just not efficient enough-yet. We should also use hydro-electric like the hoover dam, but we have to stop dumping millions of pounds of particles into the air using dirty energy and we have to do it FAST. Nuclear energy can help us get there and it is not as dangerous as it used to be. Even with the shoddy technology we used throughout the 60's and 70's we still only had one accident, the technology has gotten WAY better (e.g. France's example) So we are at a cross-roads- dirty energy (coal, oil) or cleaner energy (solar, hydro-electric, wind, nuclear) take your pick.

Yes, I know older women support her
in large numbers, but not all of us. I am age 78 and I would very much like to see a woman in the White House, but not this one.

Hillary all too often is "over the top" in her pleas for support and it begins to make one wince to hear yet another...and another.

At this point, I'm so sick of the relentless hate speech and bashing of Obama supporters that I just want Obama to lose, even if it means Republicans will win the White House for another 8 years. It will be worth it to shut up all the Obama hate speech artists who love any excuse to unload on white people.

Hillary mis-speaks and imediately blames Obama.

It is time for this nonsense to stop!

What she said in South Dakota was despicable and she immediately begins spinning it back. Obama has been making a case all along that this is the old type of politic that needs to be put out of its misery.

Hillary has lost the nomination.

The DNC needs to pull the plug now!

The entirety of her campaign as it stands today is predicated on non-truths, devious spin and lies, there is not one speck of truth or fact remaining.

It has become painfully obvious that she is hell-bent on destroying Obama and the Democratic party. She is not well.

The DNC and the Superdelegates need to come forth in support of Obama now, today, and end this thing in spite of the consequences.

If Hillary's supporters cannot bring themselves to vote for Obama then, so be it. They will have the blood of our soldiers dying in Iraq and the overturn of Roe v. Wade on their hands.
They will allow the Bush neo-cons to further destroy our constitution and to continue to transparently manipulate markets and line their pockets while the rest of us suffer.

She has lost the nomination and any thin claim she may have had for VP. She is not interested in anything other than her own gain and it is time for her to go away, now!

If you want to see how disgusting ovama's psychological tactics are, take a look at this video. In it, a compilation of of the same tactic in different rallies, he always has to stop his speech because a "woman" (always a woman) "faints". It is so obviously staged, always right in front of him. The clear implication being that he causes this "hysteria" in women, he is so charismatic, that women faint in front of him.

This is the "change" that ovama is offering this country. Follow the prophet, he will produce miracles. This man is a black Jim Jones, a con artist, a charmer a la Rasputin.

"Many consider him nothing less than a savior. They're entranced by Obama and his messianic campaign, which regularly has seen swooning women fainting in his presence. But in addition to the public, the cultural elite and even much of the news media have been likewise captivated. New Age luminary and mega-bestselling author Deepak Chopra says Obama's presidency would "represent a quantum leap in American consciousness," superstar Oprah Winfrey says Obama's "tongue [is] dipped in the unvarnished truth," and MSNBC's "Hardball" anchor Chris Matthews recently gushed, "He [Obama] seems to have the answers. This is the New Testament."

I agree with Diane: It is crystal clear that she cited the public trauma of the RFK assassination (three times since her Feb. losses) to invite a call from a psycho or white-supremacists (or "right-wing conspiracy" as defined by Hillary during Bill's presidency).

If such a gruesome wish might come true, we now know who inspired such psycho or paid a professional assassin. We further know clearly why Bill has pushed her wife even to be VP--so strongly--although she strongly believes she is the best presidential candidate (see her letter).

Hillary did not make a mistake--she inadvertently revealed her unconsciousness due to fatigue. Unfortunately, American voters are much smarter and intelligent than Clintons think.

"An honest and inspiring" ?? No.
Hillary is not honest nor inspiring.
She is delusional and cannot appreciate the magnitude of her error. She is playing politics with monstrous and evil forces in our society for personal gain. She certainly has not apologized for it.
In fact, she is compounding her error by blaming it on Obama.

Stop wasting space with your gibberish. Obama has been the one saying he wants to let the comment go.

The idea that Obama has a hold over the media is ridiculous and another Clinton talking point that only someone without critical thinking skills would believe.

Hillary had an hour 'town hall' on ABC with former Clinton staffer George Stephanopolous throwing softball questions at her. An hour of free air time that was a political COMMERCIAL in the guise of ABC News programming.

The press has refused to question her about the millions that Bill is getting from foreign leaders and whether that money is being spent on her campaign.

The press has indulged this ridiculous fantasy that Hillary has 35 years of experinence--That years of being a corporate lawyer counts as public service and eight years of being first lady counts as political experience. I have never heard ONE REPORTER QUESTION HER ABOUT THESE OBVIOUS LIES.

Then there is the lie that she has even been running a competitive campaign over the past couple of months. The media--and everyone with half a brain--knew Obama had this wrapped up and yet continue to indulge Hillary's fantasy that she has ANY WAY TO WIN THIS NOMINATION.

These are just a few examples. The media biased for Obama. WHAT A JOKE!

Posted by: Anonymous | May 25, 2008 9:22 PM | Report abuse

OK, she did say 35% Kentucky. The rest is LIES.

the obama people are to blame for all the flap w/c they forced out of hillary's rfk reference re her continued stay in the dems race.
the editorial of the paper where hillary explained her reference, the new york daily news, advised panicky, if ill-intentioned, people not to read too much, or try to inject something foreign or malicious, into hillary's allusion.
actually, this is one forte of the obama camp, to wring any issue of all the juices favorable to their master, &, conversely, destructive of hillary. to complete the process of hillary's destruction, the obama camp then faults hillary for the resulting flak.
neat, huh? what a fiendish proclivity this obama psywar tactic is (not to mention his good-cop-bad-cop ploy). & i thought obama flaunts "change" as his slogan, including change in his campaign "style." in the philippines, we call it "stayl mo bulok!" (your style is rotten!)

"That was an...honest letter that Senator Clinton wrote."

HONEST! What a FREAKING joke. Here are SOME of the LIES I quickly picked out:

1) She did not win Kentucy by 40%. In what universe does 35% = 40%

2) "No matter what happens in this primary"

There is no WIDE RANGE of things that can happen! SHE HAS LOST!

3) "Almost immediately, some took my comments entirely out of context and interpreted them to mean something completely different"

They weren't taken out of context. You can watch the whole tape and see clearly what she means. Hear her say ASSASSINATION IN JUNE, hear her inflection and tone. Implying that June is a big assassination month and hang on cause anything can happen.

4) "I am running because I believe staying in this race will help unite the Democratic Party."

Right, because spewing racist hate, spinning assassination dreams and endlessly talking about states being disenfranchised--THAT YOU SIGNED A PLEDGE NOT TO COUNT--is oh, so unifying.

5) "Delegate math might be complicated - but electoral math is not."

What a self-serving and ridiculously obnoxious lie to spin. Barack is slighty over 60 delegates away while speculating about what the political landscape will be five months from now is ridiculous and desperate.

Five months is an eternity in politics. Saying she would win those states is such a ridiculous rouse and can only impress someone who lacks all critical judgment.

Five months ago everyone thought Hillary was a shoe-in for the Democratic nomination Now she'll be lucky to hold on to her Senate seat. There's some honesty for you!

And it couldn't happen to a more deserving shrew! Any woman who backs this piece of trash because she is a woman is an embarassment to the female gender. Open your eyes! Hillary, honest!!! What are joke: are you deaf, dumb and blind?

The worst part is where she it talking about doing this for other people. The only person this woman cares about is herself. That's why these kinds of selfless statements are only in speeches penned by speechwriters but when someone directly asks her why she is staying in the race she talks about her racist supporters and assassination.

The Clinton turn-around on African American reality is a shocking fact. The triumph Hillary seeks is at a shameful cost.

This is the biggest reason she'll lose her Senate seat when the dust settles. AA make up 17% of the population in New York and a much higher percentage of the NY Democratic Party. She won't even win the nomination for the Senate seat from the Democratic Party in 2012. May be why she's going for broke and so desperate now that she's letting the evil all hang out.

Did anyone hear David Gergen suggest that Hillary should tell those who voted for her in West Virginia and Kentucky that she does not want their vote if it is motivated by racism, that is, an unwillingness to vote a black president in as leader of this country ?

Everyone should be aware that this in fact is something that has come out of the polling in these states. It doubtless is a factor in other states as well. So a large percentage of her vaunted "popular vote" is based on this very unamerican, bigoted point of view which may well cost Obama the election. Perhaps this is what Hillary counts on and the reason for her persistence.
Everyone who understands the stakes in this election should work to convince at least one person to overcome such sentiments and look at the man's qualities, consider the seriousness of this moment in the country's history. He truly is the post-racism candidate. He is not part of the point of view: it is injected into the race by others, and propelled by a hatred that is prepared to sacrifice the country in the service of it.
The Clinton turn-around on African American reality is a shocking fact. The triumph Hillary seeks is at a shameful cost.

GiveItARest - maybe you should do exactly that. Your argument is weak, and your stream of thought disconnected. Just like your candidate.

Womo - there is a psychological term for the symptoms of HRC, and it's called 'narcissism'.

And to all of your 'pro-Obama/anti-Clinton media' crybabies, it's not the media that is hurting HRC and helping Obama. Has it ever occurred to you that Hillary constantly is shooting herself in the foot, and you guys are giving her an endless supply of ammo? Or that Obama has the integrity, class, and respect to focus on the important issues and not throw mud, and that is why he's not written up in a bad light? Her own state is going to make her answer to the insults she's thrown around during her campaign.

I don't know what the delegates and DNC are waiting for? For her to completely divide and destroy the entire party?

Wrap this up, and make this last, annoying guest leave already. We need to clean up after her so we can throw the REAL celebration!

I have had a fear that if Clinton is on the ticket wth Obama his life may be in jeopardy. She has shown that she will stop at nothing to achieve her personal "vistory" I don't think it was an accident that she mentioned the Kennedy assasination. I think she was sending a loud and clear message and now as usual she is trying to make her remarks seem inisgnificant. She doesn't say things by accident. She is very calculating. I pray that she will not be on the ticket.

Why would Clinton comment on security issues related to presidential candidates other than herself. Any of the candidates - any public people for that matter face risks.

The context of her remarks are clear. Her supporters understand that. Nothing has changed for us. We know she's the best candidate and guess what folks - more people have voted for her than for Obama!

There is no truth in Hillary-world, or more broadly, Hillary-and-Bill-World, and nothing is firmly rooted, but everything is fluid to justify the exigencies of the moment. Clinton's vote for the neocon war was not a vote for the war at all, she says; her repeated references to RFK's assassination with the unmistakable implications that we should hold off declaring Obama the winner because Obama might get assassinated aren't that at all; and every lie in between. We are like co-dependents living with an addict whose pathology exhibits itself in a veil of lies: she says red is blue, and we think, you know, maybe she's right. Except that more and more of us are starting to trust our own judgments which allows us to see the lies for what they are. Say goodnight, Hillary.

Change Nobody can believe in

Obama's whole campaign is based on
ONE BIG LIE:
***CHANGE***
He didn't make.

OBAMA = NO Experience/ NO CHANGE
Obama claims 7 years experience in the Illinois legislature - Working Across the Aisles, Bringing people together to get good CHANGES passed -as exemplified by 26 good bills with his name on them.
A Chicago reporter says all 26 bills were passed in ONE Year and they were NOT Obama's.
http://wweek.com/editorial/3418/10516/
EXCERPTS:
But what's interesting, and almost never discussed, is that he built his entire legislative record in Illinois in a single year.
Republicans controlled the Illinois General Assembly for six years of Obama's seven-year tenure.
Then Emil Jones Jr. (became the Senate Majority leader), He became Obama's kingmaker.
Jones appointed Obama sponsor of virtually every high-profile piece of legislation, angering many rank-and-file state legislators who had more seniority than Obama and had spent years championing the bills.
During his seventh year in the state Senate, Obama ... sponsored a whopping 26 bills including many he now cites in his presidential campaign when attacked as inexperienced.
Working Across the Aisles/
Making CHANGES = ZILCH
Taking Credit for Other People's Work/
INTEGRITY = ZERO
(Obama's book "Audacity ..." Shows:
Democrats had Majority Control of the Illinois Senate when those bills were passed. They were passed during his last year in the state Senate.)
QUOTE:
"After two terms during which I labored in the minority, Democrats had gained control of the state senate, and I had subsequently passed a slew of bills, from reforms of the Illinois death penalty system to an expansion of the state's health program for kids. I had continued to teach at the University of Chicago Law School, a job I enjoyed, and was frequently invited to speak around town."
Please Pass the Word to anyone you can. Since the TV "news" has become nothing but Lying PROPAGANDA its up to We the People to get the Real News out to the public.

"Voters, however, have expressed deep-seated concerns for Sen. Barack Obama's safety -- concerns which form the backdrop against which the RFK comments played out,"

What is abundantly clear is that once again the Obama campaign and Burton have created an issue targeted to breed hatred. They did the same thing in SC and attempted to more times than memory serves.

No one wants to see another candidate or President assassinated. To think otherwise is completely irrational. Leaders are assassinated all over the world. It is a risk no matter who is running or in office. Mr. Obama is no more at risk than anyone else but once again Bill Burton pulls another fear mongering move out of his basket because Obama has seriously been trounced lately. If the people around Mr. Obama are doing this now it may end up even worse than GWB is now. Do not trust those who want power that badly.

....>>>>Her earlier comments about "hard working white voters" was just the latest in a string of race cards played by the Clinton campaign.>>>...

SAME Phrase The MEDIA had been repeating for a week ... following POLLS SHOWING that FACT.

But, as soon as Clinton says it ... that's RACIST.

This CAMPAIGN is NOT about skin color, or gender, or liberal vs. conservative.

It's About BIG MONEY & Dick Cheney's ENERGY BILL ...enabling GE, Westinghouse, the Nuke industry to build 29 new nuclear power plants. (GE=NBC/MSNBC)

Its ABOUT squandering Hundreds of Billions of YOUR Dollars on OBSOLETE 70 year old Technology --- instead of TURNING the PAGE to the FUTURE of Renewable, Clean, DeCentralized, CHEAPER Energy. Its about GIVING MONEY to the behemoth filthy rich insanely greedy CORPORATIONS/& the Wealthy who Control them and PROFIT from them.

The nuke industry is already "test marketing" its LYING Pro-Nuke PROPAGANDA in a few TV ads, and has already BOUGHT a few "Environmentalists' & manufactured a lot more "environmentalists" ... gearing up for their MEDIA campaign that will start RIGHT AFTER THE ELECTION.

Their current AD is billing NUKE power plants as: CLEAN AIR Energy.

Yeah, uh, huh, ... just tell that to all the people in the Denver suburbs who died from inhaling PLUTONIUM from Rocky Flats.

a microscopic particle of plutonium, once inhaled, will kill you from lung cancer in about a week.

News from Two weeks ago. The Feds want to move 30 tons of plutonium from the western states to South Carolina ... where it will be nearer to those new nukes they'll be building in the eastern & southern states.

14 of those tons of plutonium probably came from Rocky Flats, CO.

Just HOPE you're not along the route WHEN they ship that plutonium, or, ANY of the thousands of TONS of nuke waste those new nukes will be generating for the next 30-40 years.

Also ... just hope you're not TOO near a nuke power plant. All the nuke waste dumps have been closed for decades. They've been storing the nuke waste ONSITE for decades ... presenting hundrds of Terrorist TARGETS of opportunity, or, potentially catastrophic accidents.

So, now ... WHY did Obama Vote FOR the Cheney Energy Bill? Doesn't he care about his children, or your children, or your grandchilren, or you great great great grandchildren ... getting all that nuke waste as their LEGACY from YOU?

..& Clinton saying the words: hard-working white voters ... would be ... more offensive & damaging to YOU ... than Hundreds of thousands MORE tons of nuke waste, Billions of dollars wasted ... the RISK of catastrophic nuke accidents ... HOW?

Clinton so wrong to speak those words; Obama so right to Vote For the Cheney Energy Bill?

Hillary has two problems. The first is a complete lack of credibility which means that even if it was an innocent remark (made twice over a month apart) no one is going to belive her. The second problem is that she has her facts wrong. Bill Clinton had the nomination sewn up before June.

To anyone who listened to the comment, Sen. Clinton was responding to a question about the Democratic Party being divided by the length of the campaign. She first referenced her husband and said that he was in the race in June and that Sen. Kennedy was in the race in June when he was assassinated. I was appalled that the media implied that Sen. Clinton's remarks meant she was waiting for Sen. Obama to be assassinated and that Mr. Obama's campaign encouraged this interpretation. Sen. Clinton did not mention Sen. Obama or any other candidates in her statement. To anyone who listened, Sen. Clinton responded to a question about the Democratic Party being divided by the length of the campaign. She first referenced her husband and said that he was in the race in June and then added that Sen. Kennedy was in the race in June when he was assassinated. This reporting goes beyond media bias; it is slander and has no place in mainstream media. It only serves to divide the Democratic Party and make it more difficult for either candidate to win in November.

Sen. Robert Kennedy's son has stated that it is a mistake for people to take offense at this reference:
"It is clear from the context that Hillary was invoking a familiar political circumstance in order to support her decision to stay in the race through June. I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband's 1992 race, both of which were hard fought through June. I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense."

Because it was ABC that "broke" the story on TV by showing the Rev. Wright tapes ... after all the media spent about a YEAR... Neglecting ... those tapes. The rest of the Media, especially MSNBC, NBC, CBS would NOT HAVE had ANY coverage of the Rev. Wright ... IF ... ABC had not already put the Wright Tapes ON TV.

(Other than AD revenues, ABC has no discernable MOTIVE to help GE, Westinghouse, the nuke industry.)

A Better question: WHY is The TV MEDIA NOt Covering BIG NEWS the Newspapers ARE Printing? Sensational NEWS LIKE:

TWo witnesses testifying in a federal court IMPLICATE the PRESIDENT in Rezko's trial, AND .... THE TV MEDIA ... never even MENTIONS it ... NOT INTERESTED ... just move along ... Nothing there to see?

p.s. Alsammare was Convicted in an Iraqi Court under its PRESENT Govt. of LOOTING IRAQS ELECTRICITY GRID & stealing 650 Million dollars. the desperation of Hillary Clinton has been apparent for a long time now.

Her earlier comments about "hard working white voters" was just the latest in a string of race cards played by the Clinton campaign.

Just a few days ago, she was comparing Florida & Michigan being punished for violating the DNC primary rules (a punishment they knew about beforehand and chose to risk anyway) by holding their primaries outside the mandated dates, to the theft of the 2000 election engineered by the Republicans both in Florida and on the Supreme court. She also compared it women & Blacks getting the vote.

Even more offensively, she compared it to the recent Zimbabwe elections, where machete wielding gangs terrorized voters, injuring and killing many, and the cronies of Mugabe rigged the counting of the votes.

Now she has moved even further beyond the pale by invoking the specter of assassination as a reason to stay in the race.

I find her naked greed for power both sad and repulsive, and I'll never vote for her in any race, ever.

Much of the media in this country was obsessed with Barack's "bitter" comments and linking him, through guilt by association, with his pastor. Yet Hillary keeps getting far less media attention for the racism expressed by the Clintons, trying to change agreed upon rules, and her recent offensive comments.

These persons in the media either are biased in favor of her, afraid of the Clintons, treating her lightly because she is a woman or some combination of these possible reasons.

Had a Republican candidate made such racist comments, he or she would have been hounded by most in the media to withdraw as a candidate. Had one of the other Democratic candidates advocated changing the rules about the Florida and Michigan primaries, he would have been ridiculed as a sore loser.

The Clintons and their most fervent supporters, who support changing the rules, are as amoral as the supporters of diastrous Bush-Cheney foreign policies.

She said the "politically incorrect" WORD ... IN ... the newspaper offices of a newspaper IN Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for Heaven's SAKE!

WHO, gave that ONE WORD ... incessant, hysterical, PUBLICITY all over the WORLD for the past 3 DAYS? MSNBC, THE MEDIA. If, as Olbermann screeched --- it was just unforgiveable --- for her to use THAT WORD, under ANY Circumstances; how much MORE unforgiveable for HIM/The MEDIA to SPREAD it AROUND, give it MASSIVE PUBLICITY for days --- WHEN ---- it could have REMAINED a WORD spoken to a few people in a TINY TOWN in a mostly unpopulated state.

NEXT Question: WHY? Same Answer: GE owns MSNBC & NBC. Westinghouse owns CBS.
They've GOT BIG ADVERTISING BUCKS to spread around to EVERY FORM of MEDIA; that is why all the "news" about Hillary is "bad"; all the "news" about Obama is "good".

Another Question: DO YOU seriously BELIEVE GE is going to ALLOW MSNBC, NBC, The MEDIA to tell you the TRUTH about this election ... WHEN they stand to make Hundreds of Billions (risk-free) IF TWO of the 3 candidates get elected ... and NADA ... IF Clinton gets elected.

Do you THINK that might be WHY you have never Heard the TV Media even MENTION the CHENEY ENERGY BILL ... WHY None of the MEDIA have asked Obama this question: WHY DID YOU VOTE FOR THE CHENEY ENERGY BILL.

Do you THINK that might be WHY ... the sound was ...CUT... as soon as Clinton, at one of her LIVE campaign stops SAID: These high gas prices are not just supply and demand - there's market manipulation going on. I will CLOSE the Enron Loophole, you remember Enron, that ALLOWS such manipulation to take place, AND, I will CLOSE the CHENEY ENERGY BILL Loopholes....CUT.... to Andrea Mitchell... NO. That's Absurd. Anybody with a brain can immediately RECOGNIZE the utter stupidity AND the INSULT to their intelligence inherent in such STUPID accusations.

THE FACT that those STUPID Accusations CAME Directly FROM Obama's campaign in a 4-Page MEMO directing his staff to PUSH them to the PRESS; that Obama was COUGHT Red-Handed making those absurd accusations ... was ... Covered Up ... by The MEDIA ... who went right on making those STUPID accusations.

What do you want it to be called a gaffe or was it our ability to peek at your real desires that has you in a tizzy now. I love to watch your apologists who tells us how sleep deprived you are or how misogynist we are to not support the proven liar. I might even have been able to get over Barack Obama putting you on the ticket but forget it now. Try the real apology avenue once in your life. Something like I screwed up and am sorry for voting for the war in Iraq or I should never have raised the specter of assassination in this contest I apologize might have worked but you are totally incapable of admitting a fault aren't you?

Barack Obama in 2008 for those of us who admire VERITAS.

Leave it Hillary Clinton to blame her own crass stupidity (to put the kindest possible interpretation on her behavior) on the Obama campaign.

For all of you that believe that the media is biased toward Obama and against Hillary, were you in a coma during the constant reel of Rev. Wright, the "bitter" issue, or the obvious pro-Hillary ABC debate?

She said something horrible and she has been called to the carpet for it. This is the way things work. The only person that has received a pass on this is John McCain.

I am an Obama supporter that does not feel that Hillary should drop out. However, when she says things like she said on Friday and giving the implication that she has the support of "hard working Americans...white Americans", you cannot really think that the press is going to ignore it.

Both Hillary and Obama have said some incredibily stupid things during this campaign and they have both been held to the fire for it.

I will vote for the Democratic candidate in the fall regardless of who the winner is. I care too much for the future of my children to have a tantrum vote for McCain if Obama were to lose.

Obama and Clinton have the same views on many key issues. So, supporters of both candidates need to look at the issues when they vote instead of being upset that their candidate of choice didn't win the nomination.

I would like for the primaries to finish their course and for the Democrats to be victorious in November. This isn't going to happen if we keep fighting each other. Especially when we are all really fighting for the same thing.

regardless what her intentions were, when senator obama has made statements that were misconstrued she pounced on them and would not let up.on the "bittergate" comments senator obama stated that he used a choice of poor wording and he apologized.hillary took "bittergate" and used the phrase to described senator obama as an "elitist." this phrase haunted him with the pennsylvania vote and continues to haunt him unjustly. there's an old saying "payback can be a b**ch."

As a hard working young black man my original vote was for Hillary Clinton. I thought she would be perfect for the Presidency. However, after witnessing the campaign she has run, I realize that the things you don't want people to know about yourself shows up in your actions. She is an elitist who only cares about hard working white people.

If Hillary gets the nomination I will not vote.

Hilliary, please keep trying to explain your RFK reference. What you said to the Sioux Falls (S.D.) Argus Leader editorial board, was: "My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it. that is why I remain in this race"

Hilliary's RFK messages is crystal clear, "We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California, that is why I remain in this race". What further clarifiction does anyone need? SHE KNEW what she was saying and SHE MEANT what she said!! Now she and her campaign are trying to backpeddle by trying to explain her outrageous reason for staying in the race. Americans are much, much smarter then the Clintons give us credit for, her remark was a blantant call for the same to happen to her opponent, and she's staying in, "WAITING", so she can then become the nominee. No, there are NO excuses for her remark.

Clinton now blames Senator Obama, his campaign, and the news media --- once again playing the "POOR ME", VICTIM!! Hilliary, the RFK comments came from YOU, nobody else!! Are you above everybody and everything else that you cannot take responsibility for your horrible statements? MUST YOU ALWAYS defend them by stating "I regret IF my comments offended anyone"? Just the way you phrase this puts the blame on those who were/are offended; how dare they be offended!! It is THEIR FAULT that THEY dare to be offended!! Your other excuse for your outrageous, fraudulant comments, is: "I mispoke".

Hilliary, "we, the people" do NOT want a President who cannot and will not take responsibility for her/his own actions. We do NOT want a President who as a candidate could not run a good campaign, could not manager her campaign team, and could not manage her campaign finances. We do NOT want a President who as a candidate brought out the race card, the gender card, divided the United States into different segments of importance to her campaign: ONLY BIG states with BIG delegates counts = IMPORTANCE; SMALLER primary states with smaller delegates = UNIMPORTANT AND DON'S COUNT; Caucus states = UNIMPORTANT, DON'T COUNT, AND ARE UNDEMOCRATIC.

Reports are that Mark Penn, Hilliary's top stratagist believed states such as California were winner takes ALL delegates. Obviously Hilliary beleived that as well, as their focus was ONLY on the BIG states! They thought she would be the nominee on Super Tuesday and had no further stratigies or plans beyond that day. Surprise!!! That did not happen!!
DO we want a President who as a candidate failed to make plans beyond Super Tuesday?? A President who acts on FALSE beliefs (this includes her vote for the Iraq war) and makes NO plans for the future consequences of those BAD plans???

Please, fellow Americans, use your vote wisely for the benefit of the WHOLE of America and its direction and future which embodies ALL STATES AND ALL PEOPLE, not just the BIG states and their voters that Hilliary thinks are the ONLY states that count!!

IT'S ABOUT ELECTABILITY !!!

MY FELLOW "BITTER", STUPID, WORKING CLASS PEOPLE :-)

If you think like Barack Obama, that WORKING CLASS PEOPLE are just a bunch of "BITTER"!, STUPID, PEASANTS, Cash COWS!, and CANNON FODDER. :-(

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think Barack Obama with little or no experience would be better than Hillary Clinton with 35 years experience.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can fix an economy on the verge of collapse better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) led the greatest economic expansion, and prosperity in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience fighting for universal health care can get it for you better than Hillary Clinton. Who anticipated this current health care crisis back in 1993, and fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds to get universal health care for all the American people.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can manage, and get us out of two wars better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) went to war only when he was convinced that he absolutely had to. Then completed the mission in record time against a nuclear power. AND DID NOT LOSE THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMERICAN SOLDIER. NOT ONE!

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience saving the environment is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) left office with the greatest amount of environmental cleanup, and protections in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with little or no education experience is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) made higher education affordable for every American. And created higher job demand and starting salary's than they had ever been before or since.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience will be better than Hillary Clinton who spent 8 years at the right hand of President Bill Clinton. Who is already on record as one of the greatest Presidents in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that you can change the way Washington works with pretty speeches from Obama, rather than with the experience, and political expertise of two master politicians ON YOUR SIDE like Hillary and Bill Clinton..

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think all those Republicans voting for Obama in the Democratic primaries, and caucuses are doing so because they think he is a stronger Democratic candidate than Hillary Clinton. :-)

Best regards

jacksmith... Working Class :-)

p.s. You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you don't know that the huge amounts of money funding the Obama campaign to try and defeat Hillary Clinton is coming in from the insurance, and medical industry, that has been ripping you off, and killing you and your children. And denying you, and your loved ones the life saving medical care you needed. All just so they can make more huge immoral profits for them-selves off of your suffering...

You see, back in 1993 Hillary Clinton had the audacity, and nerve to try and get quality, affordable universal health care for everyone to prevent the suffering and needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of you each year. :-)

Approx. 100,000 of you die each year from medical accidents from a rush to profit by the insurance, and medical industry. Another 120,000 of you die each year from treatable illness that people in other developed countries don't die from. And I could go on, and on...

A not-very-scientific analysis of the Clinton letter follows to the New York Daily News follows:

Paragraph 1: "This past Friday, during a meeting with a newspaper editorial board, I was asked about whether I was going to continue in the presidential race."

For brevity's sake, here are the beginnings of Paragraphs 2 through 14:

"I ... Almost ... I ... I ... But I ... And today, I ... I ... I ... I ... I ... I ... I ... I ... Finally [thank you, Hillary], I ..."

Paragraph 15: "But no matter what happens in this primary, I am committed to unifying this party."

So, my not-very-scientific analysis tells me that the "I"s have it, which to me really explains why she won't gracefully retire from this nomination run and why she is NOT committed to party unity (unless she is the candidate, which she can't be due to the delegate math). Said delegate math appears to be scientifically sound.

Get over it! She was only making reference to political races that have carried over into June in modern times. Period. Nothing "dissing" RFK. No malicious intent!
The biased, blatantly slanted towards Obama media is the reason there will be no Democrat in the White House in 2008.
The media's kid glove treatment of Barack Obama is so obvious and really making people sick! American voters deserve and will demand transparency. WHO IS OBAMA? What, specifically and no general BS, has he accomplished to make him think he can lead this nation? What are his qualifications? What is his experience?
Law degree? Dime a dozen. Only practiced a few years.
Legislative leadership and initiatives? Still searching for some.
What is Obama's real agenda? Why does the liberal media have to protect him from the spotlight and slant everything in his favor? Why? Why? Why?
Is he racist against whites? Is Michelle?
Do they secretly hate this country? All signs lead me to believe that. I've always been "really" proud of my country. I can't help but think Obama thinks like Michelle because you tend to marry those with like values and beliefs. Why does he dis his white grandmother and not his black father who deserted him when he was two and didn't have anything to do with him growing up? His white grandmother WAS ALWAYS THERE for him-in fact she raised him when his mama and daddy abandoned him!Yet he puts her down and not his deadbeat selfish father! What's up with that?
What's right with America,BO?

A few points of note:

1. An Obama/Hillary ticket should never happen. Why? Because Obama would be announcing himself a hypocrite for it. He campaigns for Change -- including the political game -- and what do the Clintons stand for if not a political machine and more of the same old tactics? You can't honestly say that the groundbreaking nature of Obama's shockingly successful campaign is still business as usual. If he's that innovative just in the running of his campaign and choosing of his advisors and strategists to present a formidable challenge to one of the most well-known and respected Democratic family names in history, just imagine what those kind of ideas can do for our country if he gets into office!
This is a good article summarizing his campaign's running and innovations.

2. I bet a lot of you believe everything you're fed by certain people. Do your research, ask questions, seek more answers, digest the information, draw your own conclusions -- Acknowledge you don't need the media or the Clintons or the Obamas to tell you what to think.

3. Good point was made a couple times: If she truly was trying to recall RFK's campaigning, then why did she even mention assassination? Ever seen My Fair Lady?

Eliza: What may I take away with me? I don't want to be accused of stealing.

Prof. Higgins: Stealing? You shouldn't have said that. That shows a want of feeling.

It's not the Obama camp trying to incite a riot over a simple word; it's that thinking humans understand the truth of the matter is that such a Freudian slip indicated Hillary's "want of feeling" on the matter. They weren't told what to think about it, they just have sense and know how to extract meaning from statements. It's called reading comprehension and we were all taught and tested on it when we were in grade-school here in America.

4. Whoever the person was who commented with the very intricate plan of the Republicans switching parties to vote in the Dem primaries to sway them for an easy win (or was it a Clinton defeat? - that was unclear), I say this: How little must the lives of these people be to turn out in the massive numbers required to sway the primaries of the party they don't support. Interesting conspiracy theory, but that's it. I bet your own candidate fed you that bull, didn't she?

5. Hillary has every right to stay in the contest. But really, how can I trust a candidate who blatantly lies about things despite recorded proof otherwise? I need to have a smarter candidate, one who knows how to lie and get away with it. Come on, people! Wake up! XD

HE'S GOT THE MATH.

The Problem with that is -
its MATH FOR MORONS

Things that don't ADD Up:

The First thing that doesn't ADD Up is: WHY is this man in this race?

The Democratic Party started out this campaign season with a near certainty of WINNING the Presidency. Nationwide Polls consistently showed that 60+ percent of the People stood ready, willing, and eager to elect Clinton President.

So, WHY did the Democrat Party "Leadership", Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry...,et al--DECIDE to back a SECOND Candidate for President?

---When--- anybody with a functioning brain must RECOGNIZE -running TWO candidates -WILL- DIVIDE the Democratic Party. (& its real hard to think of any BETTER WAY to DIVIDE the Democratic Party than -running a black man against a white woman.)

IN FACT, its the SAME Strategy Republicans always use for winning elections: DIVIDE and CONQUER. (How else is a very small minority of extremely wealthy going to Control a much larger majority)?

The Republicans have historically used scapegoats to DIVIDE, by class, color, religion; (its those welfare cheats, welfare mothers, lazy poor people, black people, gays, secular ungodly people, liberals)--who are THE Problem/ The ENEMY
---VOTE Republican and
VOTE AGAINST...THEM.)

In order To back Obama for President Those Democratic Party Leaders Must be:

Unbelievably STUPID; a bunch of LOSERS who don't care if they lose; have something PERSONALLY to gain; or, are Sell-Outs to the other side.

WHO wants Obama to be the Nominee? Some Democratic Party "Leaders", and, the Republicans. When the campaign season starts out with---No discernable difference---between MSNBC & FOX; when all the "newspeople" on both Networks are spending all day everyday incessantly babbling Obama's praises (he's fabulous, he's wonderful, he's a rock star, he's so inspiring, such a good speaker)...then it's obvious the Republican Party wants to "Nominate" Obama the Democrat candidate for President.

The question is: WHY do they BOTH --- Some Democrat "leaders" and the Republican Party -- want Obama to get the Nomination?

In the case of FOX & the Republican Party its obvious -they want Obama to be the "Democrat" candidate because they believe he will lose to McCain.

There's plenty of REAL News about Obama, IN THE NEWSPAPERS, to Provide the Republicans with AMPLE Cause for that belief.

A. Obama's OTHER prominent 20 year "friendship" --- Rezko.

Given a 4-year FBI investigation of bribes, kickbacks, extortion, money laundering and fraud --involving multi-dozens of Illinois politicans at every level of government; with Rezko's "equal opportunity" political corruption including local, state, national, and international Republican and Democrat govt. officials --- it would indeed be miraculous IF the FBI did not HAVE THE GOODS on .... someone so enmeshed with all the PLAYERS and POLITICS, and money involved in that corrruption; someone so ...connected ... to all those ...connections, as Mr. Obama.

B. IF and WHEN the TV MEDIA ...gets around to... reporting this NEWSPAPER News about Obama: [ He's not just in-experienced at the National Political Level --- His whole campaign is based on ONE BIG LIE : CHANGE ... he never made while in the Illinois Senate ] -he will lose most of his remaining supporters.

C. He's already lost too many VOTERS to get elected. The TV MEDIA ADMITS ... "he's got a lot of work to do" ... TRYING ... to get older women, white working class people, jewish people, hispanics, to VOTE for him ---- but the TV MEDIA FAILS to ADMIT --- Obama already appears to be Un-electable and cannot withstand ANY bad news coming out about him; Clinton is by far the strongest Candidate. The TV MEDIA continues to INSIST and PROCLAIM Obama's the nominee.

The MORON MATH:

"HE'S GOT THE MOST PLEDGED DELEGATES"

Uh, huh, ...and... IF That actually bore any Relationship to the Actual Number of People who went to the polls and VOTED for him .... then, that might be a real good POINT; good argument in his favor.

However, Since, the number of Pledged Delegates DOES NOT bear any correlation with the Actual NUMBER of VOTES he actually got; nor does it serve as any INDICATION of the NUMBER of VOTES he might reasonably ANTICIPATE getting in the General Election --- the NUMBER of PLEDGED Delegates is POINTLESS; of NO Import; provides NO Guidance ... in the matter of: ELECTABILITY.

THE REAL MATH:

"Clinton is ahead in the POPULAR VOTE only IF you COUNT Florida and Michigan ... and, you CAN'T Count Florida and Michigan.

Mathmatically, ABSTRACTLY, IF you CAN'T count Florida and Michigan, then, Clinton did not get the most Popular Vote.

In the REAL World tho, Real People did go to Real Polls and cast REAL VOTES. IN THE REAL World... those are REAL numbers you CAN Count. In The REAL WORLD CLINTON IS AHEAD IN THE POPULAR VOTE --- which DOES provide Guidance in the Matter of: ELECTABILITY.

THE *****REAL***** MATH QUESTION IS:

DO WE NOMINATE THE PERSON WHO HAS THE REAL VOTES, or, nominate the person who makes an ABSTRACT, "case" for being the nominee? ... are ABSTRACT "voters", or, REAL VOTERS going to turn out at the Polls in November?

The MEDIA continues to PROCLAIM ... Obama's the nominee, and, the party will be unified, all those Clinton voters will Vote for Obama.

No. They will not. Obama and his TV MEDIA have been too dirty, too insane, TOO INSULTING to the INTELLIGENCE of the American People --- most of US will not vote for him.

WHAT are we going to do then, Vote for McCain or just sit at home?

No. It's not an either/or proposition.

WE can VOTE for Ralph Nader.

(If enough ex-Republicans Vote for Bob Barr & Ron Paul, and enough ex-Democrats VOTE for Ralph Nader, then perhaps the TV MEDIA will have managed to accomplish the seemingly impossible --- electing Ralph Nader President.)

BTW: The REASON the TV MEDIA has been pushing PRO-Obama/Anti-Clinton LYING PROPAGANDA since last November is: GE owns MSNBC & NBC. Westinghouse owns CBS. & Thanks To THE CHENEY Energy Bill (H.R. 6) GE, Westinghouse, the nuke industry are planning to build 29 new nuclear power plants...to reap $Hundreds of $$BILLIONS in (RISK-FREE) profits from building the nukes, and, from 30-40 years of Higher Electricity Rates.

McCain Voted FOR the Cheney Energy Bill, and those nukes will get built if he is elected. Obama Voted FOR the Cheney Energy Bill and those nukes will get built if he is elected.

Clinton Voted AGAINST the Cheney Energy Bill and those nukes will not get built if Clinton is elected President.

i.e. VOTE McCain or Obama AND HELP CHENEY pull off his NEXt Big Energy RIPOFF.

Why are Hilary supporters now conspiracy theorists? Give me a break! She can ring her own neck...nobody needs to conspire behind her back to make her "look bad".
She can do that all by herself.

Which brings me to an important point. If we want the next President to calm things down internationally and act responsibly, why would we choose such a "fly off the handle/emotional...say anything" candidate that is most likely to get us into trouble by saying the wrong thing at the right time then denying she ever said it, or that it was not meant that way, or it's big pinko commie plot to make her look bad? Come on! How about some respectablilty and taking responsibility for yourself? How can you run a country when you can't even run yourself?
P.S. Obama supporters don't need any help from the Republicans, they support him because they LIKE what he has to say. And there are A LOT of them!

Interesting projecting going on here. When Limbaugh's Operation KAOS openly and admittedly sends over 300,000 Republicans to the polls to vote for Clinton, those votes still are an accurate measure of Sen. Clinton's popularity? The super-delegates aren't fooled by this, or by the polls showing Obama's strength against McCain in spite of his party discord. And now trolls suggest that 79,000 McCain fans in Oregon voted for Obama. Even it were true (no proof provided), Obama won Oregon by 30,000 more than that. Sen Clinton should feel free to stay in the race through the remaining primaries, and then the whole party will assess totals and reverse course and select her or continue to choose Obama.

Please take action.

This woman's arguments never make sense to me. Here is the outline of the past couple of days:

1. Hillary says something really, really inappropriate.
2. Major concern is raised about the implications of using the "A" word and possibly underlying motivations.
3. Hillary expresses "regret" to the Kennedys for bringing up the assisination of one of their family members.
4. The controversy grows as Hillary has not addressed the main concerns of her statements or offered an apology to her opponents and the American people for her insensitivity.
5. Hillary plays the victim and blames her critics.
6. Hillary claims to be more electable.

Huh? First you make a major blunder, then you don't take responsibility for it and then you blame your critics. And we are to conclude that this makes you more electable?

Who do you think you are kidding?

Hillary's only purpose is to become president. She feels entitled to that and in the process of getting there even if she does not have a chance, she will do anything, say anything to get elected regardless of what is good for the Party. Now Bill Clinton is pushing to have her as vicepresident to be in an ideal situation "should something happenned to Obama". What a shame!

Some years ago, I don't remember when or the context, Hillary Clinton made a statement that resonated with me, because it matched my deep frustrations - she said that Democrats make the fatal error of attempting to play the political game by the rules the Republican party sets, and that that is not the way that Democrats can succeed. Unfortunately, Hillary has forgotten her own wisdom. Her behavior in the last half of this campaign again and again reminds me of why I agree so viscerally with Senator Obama that the page must be turned on the form and content of American politics and governance.

Aside from bemoaning, remarkably, that if the Democrats were using Republican nominating rules she would be the nominee, Hillary has been employing many classic Republican tactics in her campaign. A few of these are such hallmarks of the Bush administration as to be unforgiveable by me in a candidate for the Democratic nomination. These are treating American voters like they are stupid and you can get away with saying anything to garner their support; ignoring facts and attempting to create one's own reality through rote repetition; and playing to the baser emotions of voters, notably fear and division. All of these ploys were at work in Hillary's stump statements last week, including: the popular vote total argument that would disenfranchise voters in several states where Democratic parties have decided to use a caucus nominating system; likening her arguments for her path to the nomination to the causes to free African american slaves, and the unsettled elections in Zimbabwe (ironically, though, Hillary's part seems more akin to that of Mugabe - - the established insider refusing to acknowledge the electoral success of the ousider); and her invocation of the death of RFK as a reason for her continuing her campaign. It is inarguable that Hillary has knowingly chosen the example of RFK, among a range of other, more benign examples, in order to evoke strong emotions; her selection of this example has not been an accident or an off the top of her head expression. What strong emotions other than the fear and horror of losing a candidate in such a manner could she be trying to evoke? I cannot fathom. Ironically, the other example she cites, her husband's 1992 nomination, is apparently being pitched to the supposed stupidity of voters, because no other candidates continued to contest Bill Clinton's nomination in June of that year.

Hillary has recently added her own unique campaign tactic to these classic Republican techniques - vociferously claiming victimhood and gender bias; these cards were displayed to a stunning extent in her op ed today faulting everyone but herself for the widespread reaction of disgust or even horror at her invocation of RFK's assassination. In my view this is no way for anyone, let alone a woman, to attempt to become the President of the United States.

DON'T BE DUPED AGAIN AMERICA !!!

IT'S ABOUT ELECTABILITY !!!

Large numbers of BUSH_McCain Republicans have been voting for Barack Obama in the DEMOCRATIC primaries, and caucuses from early on with the backing and help of the medical and insurance industry. Under the direction of the George Bush, and Karl Rove vote fraud, and vote manipulation machine. Because they feel Barack Obama would be a weaker opponent against John McCain. And they want to stop Hillary Clinton from fixing the HUGE! American, and Global mess they have created. shocking!!! isn't it. Just gotta love those good old draft dodging, silver spoon Texas boys. Not! :-(

You see, the medical and insurance industry mostly support the republicans with the money they ripped off from you. And they don't want you to have quality, affordable universal health care. They want to be able to continue to rip you off, and kill you and your children by continuing to deny you life saving medical care that you have already paid for. So they can continue to make more immoral profits for them-selves off of you, and your children's suffering.

With Hillary Clinton you are almost 100% certain to get quality affordable universal health care for everyone very soon. And you are also certain to see major improvements in the economy for everyone.

The American people face even worse catastrophes ahead than the ones you are living through now. It will take all of the skills, and experience of Hillary Clinton to pull the American people out of this mess we are in. Fortunately fixing up, and cleaning up others incompetence, immoral degeneracy, and mess is what the Clinton's do very well.

Hillary Clinton has actually won by much larger margins than the vote totals showed. And lost by much smaller vote margins than the vote totals showed. Her delegate count is actually much higher than it shows. And higher than Obama's. She also leads in the electoral college numbers that you must win to become President in the November national election. HILLARY CLINTON IS ALREADY THE TRUE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE!

Just look at Oregon for example. Obama won Oregon by about 70,000 votes. But approximately 79,000 Bush republicans switched party's back in January to vote for Obama in the democratic primary. They are not going to vote for, or support any Democrat in November. Are you DEMOCRATS going to put up with that. Are you that stupid, and weak. The Bush republicans think you are that stupid, and weak.

As much as 30% of Obama's primary, and caucus votes are Republicans trying to choose the weakest democratic candidate for McCain to run against. These Republicans have been gaming the caucuses, and open primaries where it is easier to vote cheat. This is why Obama has not been able to win the BIG! states primaries. Even with Republican vote cheating help. Except North Carolina where 35% of the population is African American, and approximately 90% of them block voted for him. African Americans are only approximately 17% of the general population.

Hillary Clinton has been OUT MANNED! and OUT SPENT! 4 and 5 to 1. Yet Obama has only been able to manage a very tenuous, and questionable tie with Hillary Clinton. This is even more phenomenal when you consider she has been also fighting against the George Bush, Karl Rove vote fraud machine in the DEMOCRATIC primaries, and caucuses. Hillary Clinton is STUNNING!.

If Obama is the democratic nominee for the national election in November he will be slaughtered. That is crystal clear now. Because all of the Republican vote cheating help will suddenly evaporate. And the demographics, and experience are completely against him. All of this vote fraud and Bush republican manipulation has made Obama falsely look like a much stronger candidate than he really is.

You will have another McGovern catastrophe where George McGovern lost 49 of 50 states. And was the reason the super-delegates were created to keep that from happening again. Don't let that happen to the party and America again super-delegates. You have the power to prevent it. The only important question now is who can best win in November. And the answer is HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON. That fact is also now crystal clear.

And YOUNG PEOPLE. DON'T BE DUPED! Think about it. You have the most to lose. As do African Americans. Support Hillary Clinton. She will do her best for all of you. And she will know how to best get it done on day one.

The democratic party needs to fix this outrage. Everyone needs to throw all your support to Hillary Clinton NOW! So you can end this outrage against YOU the voter, and against democracy.

The democratic party, and the super-delegates have a decision to make. Are the democrats, and the democratic party going to choose the DEMOCRATIC party nominee to fight for the American people. Or are the republicans going to choose the DEMOCRATIC party nominee through vote fraud, and gaming the DEMOCRATIC party primaries, and caucuses.

Fortunately the Clinton's have been able to hold on against this fraudulent outrage with those repeated dramatic, and heroic comebacks of Hillary Clinton's. Only the Clinton's are that resourceful, and strong. Hillary Clinton is your NOMINEE. They are the best I have ever seen. Probably the best there has ever been. :-)

"This is not a game" (Hillary Clinton)

Except that it makes no sense. Why hasn't anyone in the media probed Hilary on her faulty math reasoning regarding June primaries. When California was the last state it could make a difference because it was the big prize with a lot of winner take all delegates. Now June 3 brings us Montana and South Dakota. If Hilary's math says that the results of these states can change delegate counts, then she is going to have a very hard time balancing a budget.

+++++++
Why is the media stoning Senator Hillary Clinton because of her referral to a very active Democratic primary in June, 1968?

Senator Hillary Clinton has connections to Robert Kennedy's campaign, but reporters are too damn stupid to acknowledge them in the press. They want to write dirt and grabage stories about her.

Senator Hillary Clinton was justifying why she continues to stay in this race, which is what she ought to do.

During the presidential race in 1968, Robert Kennedy declared that he was "loyal to the Democratic party," but added that he felt stronger about the U.S. and mankind generally." The Democratic Party was in tumult, and Robert Kennedy was branded a," Judas" by Chicago Mayor Richard Daly, who saw him as a dangerous and divisive figure among the Democrats.

Sound familiar? Not much has changed in three decades. And that's exactly why Hillary Clinton needs to stay in the race!

She is the only candidate to address what Robert Kennedy called the "mindless menace of crime in America." Clinton released a crime plan reminiscent of her husband's which contributed to the decrease of crime in the 1990s. As Kennedy said, "victims of the violence are black and white, rich and poor, young and old, famous and unknown . . . And yet it goes on and on in this country of ours." That is as true today at it was in 1968. This is why Clinton needs to stay in the race.

However, the media has been churlish toward Senator Hillary Clinton, and find something to cavil at in everything she does and says while ignoring Clinton's many policy statements.

Guys and gals,
The point remains that neither candidate can get to the desired number, which can only be decided at...surprise surprise...the DNC in August.

And until that happens both have the right to stay in...Period.

Posted by: RFK | May 25, 2008 2:18 PM | Report abuse

The 1968 Democratic primary was decided between Hubert Humphrey, Eugene McCarthy and George McGovern at the August 26-29, 1968, convention. Robert Kennedy did not have a delegate lead at the time of the June 5 assassination. If Senator Clinton wanted to use 1968 as an example of how late nominations may be decided, she would or should have referenced the August convention instead of the assassination.

Neither does she need to remain in the race to secure the second place position she would need should the first place candidate be eliminated by misfortune.

Accordingly, there must have been yet another reason to reference the assassination of Robert Kennedy, and that raises the specter of a troubling, if not malicious, intent.

While we may hope her intention was less than dishonorable, she is not entitled to the benefit of the doubt. Benefit of the doubt, like the nomination, is not an entitlement but must be earned.

hillary supporters will believe any fairy tale at this point; but how would that work if obama made her VP: she would be attacked on some good will tour- oops, not really; she would file glowing reports about meeting with people- oops, except she was never there; and anytime anything went wrong or anyone said anything negative about her it would be a right-wing consipracy, or sexist or the biased press or some of those misguided voters; both clintons have told us: they might "misstate" once in a while, but they never do anything wrong; so what's all that political gutter slime on her hands that she's trying to explain away, yet again? oh, someone must have put there

The comments were not offensive to the Kennedys. It is historical fact that Bobby Kennedy was murdered just about 6 weeks after he announced his run for the president of the United States. The comments are offensive to Obama. She is hanging around because she has no reasonable way to win, but is desiring a tragedy or something awful to occur to Senator Obama. The Clinton's don't says something just to say it. She was NOT JUST THINKING OF TED KENNEDY (think of the lie of bullets over Bosnia). She made the same statement months ago. Who was she thinking of then. This is a dark, bizarre mind who under stress reveals herself. It is truly ugly.

Did you stupid so called Democrats that voted for and support Obama ever stop to think that maybe those Independents helping you push him over the top are really Republicans voting Independent in the primary ONLY? and did you ever stop to think that maybe those same "Indepents" will NOT be voting for Obama in November?

here is the Republican plan you dummies all MISSED in your blind hatred for Hillary..

A - Register Independent (of even Democrat)
B - Vote Obama in the Primary
C - Give Obama the nomination
D - Eliminate any chance of Hillary winning in November by eliminating her as nominee
E - Switch party affiliation back to
Republican just in time for November election
E - Vote for John McCain along with the rest of the Republicans and remaining Independents
F - Eliminate any chance of Obama winning in November
G - Retain Republican power and control of the White House
H - Laugh at all the stupid Obama democrats who actually thought the Independents wanted Obama to win the Presidency

Remember, Republicans will do ANYTHING to win, how soon you stupid Obama Democrats forget 200 and 2004.

There is one solution however, Obama/Hillary 2008

Obama VOTED "YES" in support of Cheney's Energy Bill that was developed with the help of the OIL COMPANIES who are now reaping higher profits than ever reported in history.

Senator Hillary Clinton voted "NO" against the Cheney Energy Bill.

Obama's support for the Oil Companies is paying off big time $$$$$. Obama's support for removing the laws of over-sight of the Teamster's Union, and Hoffa's behind the scenes $$$$$ bundling for Obama.

Obama voted, "YES" to fund the Iraq war. Obama had not started his Senate term, so was UNABLE to vote on the first Iraq bill after 911. How easy it is for him to say now that he would have voted against it.

Although Obama likes to claim that his money comes from first time voters; The Washington Post wrote an article on Obama's "Bundlers?" Google - The Washington Post Staff Story of 4/11/08. "Big Donors Among Obama's Grass Roots 'Bundlers' Have a Voice in Campaign," By Matthew Mosk and Alec MacGillis Washington Post Staff Writers Friday, April 11, 2008; A01

According to Obama, he is now, "outraged," and "repudiates" ex-pastor," with an insincere show of flags, while squirming and whimpering about the," show of disrespect."

So many good points above. Bill Clinton was the only candidate viable as of MAY! She is just changing the calculus to fit her needs which at this point is to come up with a reason to stay in the race.

This woman is the anti-Christ and needs to be sent packing soon. I hope that the remaining delegates make their decision next week before the next round of voting. The RFK remarks might get them to end this thing now. The rules committee and can also bust their move too and tell her its going to be 50-50 in Michigan and Florida before they even meet at the end of the month.

Those rules were drawn up by Hillary's crew, why is she complaining now? Not a peep out of her when Michigan and Florida were told that were not going to be counted!!

Hillary thinks that this is just one big bad dream, that she is going to wake up and that somehow they are going to give her the nomination. She is truly evil, just like her husband.

Obama thinks that Senator Hillary Clinton supporters are poor, uneducated old women. Or poor folks who grasp their guns and go to church to wallow in their troubles.

Obama's gaffes are frequent and ignored: TWENTY years in a white racist anti-American church seeking a father figure. If this was the Clinton family the press would have burned them at the stake!

If this primary goes to Obama it is an election fix worthy of a third world country.

Anytime you have to explain yourself more than twice, either your audience just doesn't get it, or you are not making your self understood (truthful). Clarifying the Truth is the process of trimming away the "miss-speak". If Hill-Billy keeps clarifying the JFK comparison which is apples to lemons maybe we will get to know why she is a compulsive Liar. The question is no one cares why she is the way she is or what she has to say about anything at this point. Hill-Billy stay in the race and try and raise money to pay off your debt, it is OK. It is OK. Don't totally destroy your career for a few $bucks, it would only add to the odium of disasters you have needlessly brought on yourself. Get the money but don't get the love of money which is the basis for "All" sin.

I am amazed at how Bush-like Hillary is - as evident by how she is running her campaign and how she is dealing with crises. I am starting to believe that maybe that is her character. I used to think it was just her strategy. Her approach is to always point to the other side for her own faults. Or side step the issue by creating another one and pointing at your opponent.

To not even acknowledge a very clear and present danger that Obama faces in a way she does not is insensitive. To blame Obama's campaign for pointing out her mistake is a joke. She would have had a field day with this kind of comment if she could spin it. Obama's camp is not spinning, it is just making the point. Her responses so far only drive further home what seem to me, after witnessing so much in this campaign, to be deep underlying prejudices she holds. Worse, she is igniting and playing on such prejudices in others. She is taking whtat to me is truly a morally challenged approach. This is not a true and strong leader.

May God watch America and help her people and her leaders and wannabe leaders to see themselves and there prejudices more clearly. So they watch what messages they are sending to all Americans in their actions and words. Obama's life is not "fair game" here. Indeed, this is not a game. It is irresponsible of Hillary as a politician for any office to blame her lapse on others and not tackle the concern head on. She could at least make a statement that she acknowledges why others are concerned with what she is saying.

A real leader might go on to embrace the issue and face it head on - declare that all must be vigilant against such unthinkable violent thoughts and actions. Yet, somehow, she is unable to rise to the occasion. She either cannot see the issue or in fact, she likes it out there - and is wishing he could somehow be taken out of the race.

America can ill afford to squander this tremendous opportunity that is Obama. May the forces of good prevail.

Sen. Clinton is as vulnerable to harm as Sen. Obama. Obama's safety is no excuse for the pro-Obama biased media frenzy to maliciously distort and misrepresent Sen. Clinton's comment.

Sen. Clinton shouldn't have to be answering the question, "Why I continue to run" from the pro-Obama biased media. Her appropriate response to this biased question should be: "F--- O--!" This question not asked of Obama, who can never get the requisite number of pledged delegates to clinch the nomination and has no presumptive lock on the nomination. The Democratic presidential nomination process is still in progress until the last primary state votes and the votes are counted and FL and MI are resolved. The superdelegates, reflecting wisdom, integrity, and courage, must then decide on the best qualified and strongest Democratic nominee using their independent judgement with no regard to any "delegate math." This Democratic nominee would be Sen. Clinton.

Sen. Clinton is being harassed and distracted by the pro-Obama biased media intent on sabotaging her campaign and swiping the Democratic nomination for Obama. The clear absence of journalistic decency in the pro-Obama biased media is inimical to our democracy.

Puhhhh-leeeeeeze!

Hillary's logic in walking this back just doesn't wash. Ask yourself, "why the reference to 1968?"

Hillary says she referred to 1968 because it was another case in which the race went through June. So, the Hillary logic goes, what would be wrong with this race going through June.

Well, here's a whole bunch of reasons why that Hillary already knows:

1) 1968 was a disaster. That's what we Democrats are hoping to avoid. The convention was practically a civil war within the party and actual violence broke out. Not surprisingly, the Democratic candidate lost. So, if Hillary's point is that the contest going into June "just like in 1968" is not a problem, she's just dead wrong.

2) Yeah, 1968 went into June. Guess why? Because the primaries were not what ultimately decided the nomination in 1968. That system did not emerge in full until 1972. So the fact that Bobby Kennedy was campaigning in June 1968 is an apples-to-oranges comparison that makes no sense whatsoever. It is a completely different system.

3) We all know (at least those with the ability to think) that what Hillary was really implying in raising the assassination of Bobby Kennedy was that if, God forbid, something should happen to Obama or if a massive scandal were to emerge that engulfs Obama, you'd wish Hillary were still running. But that's the most silly logic of all. If, again, God forbid, something like that happened, there is no reason the convention couldn't then turn to Hillary (or Gore or Edwards or any other candidate) as the nominee whether she's still running or not.

The fact is that Hillary remaining in the race only accomplishes one thing: Hillary gets to keep raising money to try to pay off her debt.

As Jim Clyburn said, Hillary's comments were "beyond the pale;" they are only the latest of her comments that are beyond the pale. She needs to get out of the race before she does more damage to herself, does more damage to Obama, and most importantly, before she does more damage to the Democratic Party.

Posted by: Larry B | May 25, 2008 1:31 PM | Report abuse

I think the whole thing was intentional on Hillary's part, especially since Drudge brought it up. Drudge Report is known to be the site that the Hillary camp uses to "leak" stories to, so that they can deny them later. Wolfson is always the guy who denies Drudge stories.

I have heard several pundits say that the statement was calculated to get the remaining states' voters to be so concerned about Obama's health that they would vote for Hillary just to keep Obama alive.

Hopefully, the opposite effect will occur. Hopefully, Hillary will be trounced in the remaining primaries. And, hopefully, at least 50 of the remaining superdelegates (who have been too afraid of the Clintons to endorse Obama) will step up and get Obama to 2026 on Monday.

I know. I am dreaming. The last holdouts are simply too afraid of the wrath of the powerful Clintons.

I have had in-laws with personality traits similar to Hillary's. Never admit you make mistakes, always blame the other guy. As long as Hillary continue her diatribe, how does she expects to unite the party? This is typical Clinton double-speak in the guise of "misspeak". She really feels she is the best presidential candidate who lacks the managerial skill to run her own campaign: what with the terrible strategy, thinking the campaign would be over after Feb 5th; the lack of strategy in caucus states; giving Barack Obama 11 states in a row after Feb 5th; her "big state" strategy; or her lack of fiscal management. Given these faults exactly what kind of POTUS would she be?

Bobby Kennedy's son is not the only one directly impacted by Clinton's stupid statement. There happens to be Kennedy's wife, other children, Ted Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy and others in that family who have too much decency to call out this creep for NOT talking about campaigns that last through June. She talked about the assassination, not the primary election.

And if she were truly not disingenuous, she would have mentioned that the campaign calendar is no longer structured like it was in the days she references.

Oh, and by the way, do you think maybe Obama and his family may have been also affected, since she was referring to the front runner being killed.

Continue to be a dope and support this vampire. It's your loss.
