AP: Obama Wins Guam Caucuses by 7 Votes

Updated 8:07 p.m.
Sen. Barack Obama won the Democratic caucuses on Guam by seven votes over Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, less than 0.2 percent of the vote in a spirited election that required an overnight hand count of the ballots, the Associated Press reported.

Delegates pledged to Obama got 2,264 votes, while Clinton's slate received 2,257 -- an unusually heavy turnout to the polls for the U.S. island territory in the western Pacific.

The result means the candidates will split the four pledged delegate votes for the Democratic national convention.

U.S. citizens on the island have no vote in the November election.

All I want, at minimum, is that the NEOCONS are out in November. I worry more about the race factor than the gender factor come November and I can't see why all these Republicans and "newly" registered Democrats in Red states are casting their lot almost exclusively with Barak.
The November election will be on a state by state basis, and about 35% of Barak's pledged delegates are from states that are very "RED"!
Previous to the 2004 election Karl Rove put forth a plan to game the Democrat's nomination process. It featured Red state Democratic primaries/caucuses giving delegates to the nominee who would be most vulnerable in November.
The plan had two problems at the time.
1----It was too late to implement for 2004
2----The Southern Red states with primaries that only allowed registered Democrates ( more than half black ) to vote.

By 2007 problem 1 had been solved in places like Wyoming, Idaho, etc, by getting White Republicans to cast votes for Barak.
Problem 2 was solved by getting a "COLORED" man, Barak, to run! BTW, his ascendency to the Senate was realized only because of scandal investigations, first of his democratic primary opponent, then of his opponent for the Senate. Karl Rove is a master at having his opponents "investigated"!

I don't see these "RED" states going for Barak come November. I hope I'm wrong.

DEBATE! DEBATE!! DEBATE!!!

It's time for everyone to face the truth. Barack Obama has no real chance of winning the national election in November at this time. His crushing defeat in Pennsylvania makes that fact crystal clear. His best, and only real chance of winning in November is on a ticket with Hillary Clinton as her VP.

Hillary Clinton seemed almost somber at her Pennsylvania victory speech. As if part of her was hoping Obama could have proved he had some chance of winning against the republican attack machine, and their unlimited money, and resources.

But it is absolutely essential that the democrats take back the Whitehouse in November. America, and the American people are in a very desperate condition now. And the whole World has been doing all that they can to help keep us propped up.

Hillary Clinton say's that the heat, and decisions in the Whitehouse are much tougher than the ones on the campaign trail. But I think Mr. Obama faces a test of whether he has what it takes to be a commander and chief by facing the difficult facts, and the truth before him. And by doing what is best for the American people by dropping out of the race, and offering his whole hearted assistance to Hillary Clinton to help her take back the Whitehouse for the American people, and the World.

Mr. Obama is a great speaker. And I am confident he can explain to the American people the need, and wisdom of such a personal sacrifice for them. It should be clear to everyone by now that Hillary Clinton is fighting her heart out for the American people. She has known for a long time that Mr. Obama can not win this November. You have to remember that the Clinton's have won the Whitehouse twice before. They know what it takes.

If Mr. Obama fails his test of commander and chief we can only hope that Hillary Clinton can continue her heroic fight for the American people. And that she prevails. She will need all the continual support and help we can give her. She may fight like a superhuman. But she is only human.

Sen. Hillary Clinton: "You know, more people have now voted for me than have voted for my opponent. In fact, I now have more votes than anybody has ever had in a primary contest for a nomination. And it's also clear that we've got nine more important contests to go."

Sincerely

MY FELLOW "BITTER", STUPID, WORKING CLASS PEOPLE :-)

If you think like Barack Obama, that WORKING CLASS PEOPLE are just a bunch of "BITTER"!, STUPID, PEASANTS, Cash COWS!, and CANNON FODDER. :-(

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think Barack Obama with little or no experience would be better than Hillary Clinton with 35 years experience.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can fix an economy on the verge of collapse better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) led the greatest economic expansion, and prosperity in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience fighting for universal health care can get it for you better than Hillary Clinton. Who anticipated this current health care crisis back in 1993, and fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds to get universal health care for all the American people.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can manage, and get us out of two wars better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) went to war only when he was convinced that he absolutely had to. Then completed the mission in record time against a nuclear power. AND DID NOT LOSE THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMERICAN SOLDIER. NOT ONE!

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience saving the environment is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) left office with the greatest amount of environmental cleanup, and protections in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with little or no education experience is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) made higher education affordable for every American. And created higher job demand and starting salary's than they had ever been before or since.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience will be better than Hillary Clinton who spent 8 years at the right hand of President Bill Clinton. Who is already on record as one of the greatest Presidents in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that you can change the way Washington works with pretty speeches from Obama, rather than with the experience, and political expertise of two master politicians ON YOUR SIDE like Hillary and Bill Clinton..

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think all those Republicans voting for Obama in the Democratic primaries, and caucuses are doing so because they think he is a stronger Democratic candidate than Hillary Clinton. :-)

Best regards

jacksmith... Working Class :-)

p.s. You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you don't know that the huge amounts of money funding the Obama campaign to try and defeat Hillary Clinton is coming in from the insurance, and medical industry, that has been ripping you off, and killing you and your children. And denying you, and your loved ones the life saving medical care you needed. All just so they can make more huge immoral profits for them-selves off of your suffering...

You see, back in 1993 Hillary Clinton had the audacity, and nerve to try and get quality, affordable universal health care for everyone to prevent the suffering and needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of you each year. :-)

Approx. 100,000 of you die each year from medical accidents from a rush to profit by the insurance, and medical industry. Another 120,000 of you die each year from treatable illness that people in other developed countries don't die from. And I could go on, and on...

"Clinton will win both Indiana and North Carolina"

Maybe

But it doesn't matter

.
Hillary Clinton cannot win.
.

Even if Hillary Clinton wins every remaining primary by 70%, Obama will still maintain his lead in pledged delegates. This is true, even when one counts the delegates from Florida and Michigan. Mrs. Clinton cannot catch up to Barack Obama in pledged delegates, and pledged delegates will determine this election. She has lost,
Barack Obama has won.

See for yourself

A win is a win! The Hillary camp dispatched Bill Clinton to handle Guam for Hillary. Bill Clinton was well-liked in Guam, making big deals of his and Hillary stopovers there on their way to Asia in recent radio interviews. Guam should have been definitely a big win for Hillary with Bill Clinton as her Guam surrogate. If Hillary-supporters are saying that Guam doesn't matter because Obama and Hillary split the delegates, they should revisit who is leading in pledged delegates! If Obama takes Indiana and North Carolina on May 6th, then that would mean three wins in a row and the superdelegates will trickle even faster to Obama.

Obama in 08!

Clinton will win both Indiana and North Carolina.

Why would he have an advantage there? He would most likely get a bigger vote is he were spanish. Even seems about right, the news people don't know everything.

CNN was bragging yesterday that Obama will be big winner in Guam today and therefore he'll have bragging rights again to say that his MO is back.

Obviously CNN expects him to win it like he did in Hawaii by 30%-35% margin.

It looks like Barack's MAJIC is GONE and the MANIA is DYING...

The LIES and the ARROGANCE are definitely catching up with HIM.

BREAKING NEWS -- GUAM WILL LIKELY GO FOR CLINTON AFTER RECOUNT...

It looks like Guam will wind up being a win for Clinton, not Obama!!!

Obama won the original count by 7 but 500 ballots weren't counted that were most likely for Clinton because they came from a district where Clinton won by a landslide!!!

From dd --

Looks like a recount, at least of those spoiled ballots in Dededo, will take place automatically, perhaps as soon as next week per The Pacific News Center:

The Democrat Party Nominating Committee said officials will look over the large amount of "spoiled ballots" in the coming days.

At issue is the small margin of victory of Senator Barack Obama. He beat his rival, Senator Hillary Clinton by 7 votes, but well over 500 ballots were deemed invalid during the tabulation process.

Herbie Perez, chairman of the nominating committee, said she will not certify the results because the Committee needs to ensure that all the uncounted ballots were properly identified as "spoiled."

She said officials from the Party and representatives from both candidates will meet probably Monday or Tuesday to address that issue.

"I don't think the cable news networks are for anybody in particular."

But, if they were neutral they wouldn't be running "All Wright, All the Time" the weekend before a major election. That's not giving her the benefit of the doubt. That's leaning on the scales.

Let's face it they benefit from a racially charged election - think the OJ trial - and they're profit driven. So to some extent what should we expect. Coincidentally, Hillary also benefits from a racially charged election.

Hopefully, if we ever get to the point where everyone has the internet, the power goes back to the people. The large corporations will no longer have exclusive control the stories are distributed. Information liberalization is coming.

What Hillary lost again? If she can't convince the people of Guam with a population of less than 200,000 to take her side how is she going to run the white house. Her 3am ad didn't work in Guam since she forgot that when it is 3am in the white house people in Guam are enjoying their afternoon sun. So her boogeyman ads don't make sense to people in Guam.

Posted by: Martin56 | May 3, 2008 8:24 PM | Report abuse

The problem with Hillary is that she can't win the small states. She really does not care for the people unless they all bunch together densely in one state. What I suggest is that split U.S into two, bunch New York, California, and Philadelphia together (throw in Arkansas as a bonus) into one U.S.of large states and the rest as 'U.S.of states griped by Hillary'. Then ask Hillary to run just the large states, since she has no knack for winning small and caucus states.

You have to ask yourself, if Hillary Clinton can't win a territory like Guam with the popularity of the Clinton brand there, is she really prepared for the general election? :)

Bill B--

to save $0.30 a day in gas tax for three month --it will cost:
(1) @$200 million reduction to the highway trust fund
(2) lose a min of 6000 jobs in Indiana and close the remaining Steel plant near Indianapolis
(3) lose upwards of 200.0 jobs throughout the country
(4) stop work on some of the refurbishing of the crumbling infratructure in this country
(5) likely increase the demand for gas and therefore
(6) likely cause an INCREASE in gas prices which will benefit the oil companies
ESTIMATED AT THE OIL COMPANIES INCREASING THEIR EARNINGS BY $9BILLION

The fantasy windfall profits tax - to quote todays NYT (by Hillary supporter Gail Collins no less) would not pass if "Ronald Reagan and John F Kennedy came back from the dead and walked it through congress"

Evan Bayn, Mike Easley and Bill Clinton are all on record as being against this the LAST time the idea was floated -

for goodness sake - even Paul Krugman who is so far into Hillary it's a blur - said this was bad --

I agree with Clem

Did you watch Ballot Bowl today?
At least 5 times Bill Schnieder told that Jim guy who is the "host" that Guam is thousands of miles from Hawaii and has nothing to do with Hawaii --

And at least 10 times that Jim guy said gee Obama is only winning by 6% - sould be larer since he is from Hawaii??

Then the "idiot" Rick Sanchez (who is an idiot - I am from Miami and he used to be an anchor here till he was fired - and to get fired as a news anchor on Fox Miami is not easy)- Sanchez comes on and in his hahahahaha "clever" (not) way says gee -- Maybe they're "bitter" in Guam the votes aren't counted yet??

And then that joke who does the Week in Politics Tom something -- he is really laughable

NOT ONE MENTION ALL DAY OF
(a) Gas tax paper submitted by Alice Rivlin who is a Clinton supporter stated her disappointment with Hillary on taking this position and was signed by 20 top economists as well as the entire dept at the Univ of Indiane
(b) Indians factory that was moved to China and signed off on by Bill Clinton - objected to in papers exposed today by Evan Bayh AND still used in a Hillary Ad nas a slam as Bush -

What is so painful about Hillary Clinton is you know she is smart and you know she knows the truth on this stuff and she still panders and lies because she thinks the populace is dumb -- and so does the MSM - they think issues are "too complex" for the little people to understand so why bother to explain them -

WHY BOTHER TO TELL THE TRUTH?

I think Hillary figures she is so out there the MSM is paralyzed in their amazement at her "testicular" fortitude

I hope the people of Indiana do NOT give her the chance to "obliterate" democracy

I guess the MSM is afreaid Hillary will call them out as being "pansies"

Heaven help our poor country

Hey Clinton Haters you are really sick and sad. Stick with your guy since he stuck with that "preacher" for 20 yrs. As for the gas tax - if the truckers get cheaper gas then I do not have to pay higher shipping rates, things get to market for less and that cost is not covered by me when I buy something. SO Obama offers nothing and Hillary shows that she wants to do something, but the people from Hope and Change just want to attack and go negative. SAD SAD SAD

I don't think the cable news networks are for anybody in particular.

The longer the fight continues, the tighter the margin of victory, the easier it becomes to hyperventilate and bloviate 24 hours a day. The cable news networks obviously have every interest to influence the race as closely as possible to a draw, and for now that means giving Clinton the benefit of the doubt.

If Hillary loses Guam (which she might have by now) this is what to expect from her.

1. A bill to make guamites pay double the gas tax to offset the gas tax repeal in the mainland.

2. She will declare Guam as a separate country and initiate war with the country of Guam.

3. She will pledge to 'obliterate' Guam for their lack of enthusiasm to vote for her.

4. Bill Clinton will wag his fingers at every citizen of Guam who didn't vote for Hillary. He will also add 'Jessie Jackson' had won Guam in the past.

5. Hillary will ask Elton John to call Guamites as misogynists.

6. Hillary will vow not to import and wear pearls and diamonds from Guam.

7. Hillary will call Guam the right wing and say it was a right wing conspiracy.

And the media will play along. Watch for talk of a "win streak" if HRC pulls it off.

...And The Hoosiers Can Draft Players From The NBA

From Political Punch:

"Guam's four Democratic delegates (not to mention its five superdelegates) are up for grabs in Saturday's primary, and Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., has told residents of that Pacific territory that as president she will work to give them the right to vote for president...

Would that mean making Guam a state? Bestowing citizenship upon these US nationals? Same with Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and American Samoa? Would they get Senators and full voting members of Congress? How about DC? Wouldn't this require major constitutional changes?"

Perhaps she can sell Guam to fund the "Gas Tax Holiday".
