McCain Launches Spanish Radio Ads in NM and Nevada

By Ed O'Keefe
As Barack Obama moved to consolidate the support of his party, John McCain today launched the first radio ad of the general election campaign. "Economy," a 60-second, Spanish-language spot, will air in New Mexico and Nevada and deliver a hopeful message about McCain's economic proposals as he seeks to appeal across party lines.

"When we are buying groceries, we don't have a political party. When we are filling up the gas tank, we are not Republicans, Democrats or Independents. We are Hispanics, and we all are hurting together in this uncertain economic time" the ad's announcer says. "We need someone that has a good economic plan, and that is John McCain."

Several presidential candidates have aired Spanish-language radio ads so far this cycle, including Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Rudolph Giuliani and Mitt Romney.

Hispanics, the nation's fastest growing ethnic group, comprise a large percentage of the population in the Southwest and, in some states, vote in such a way that they cannot be considered a base Democratic group.

They are also intensive radio listeners.

Spanish-language radio stations are some of the highest rated in the nation's largest markets, according to Radio and Records, and Hispanics on average listen to more than 22 hours a week of radio, according to Carlos Alcazar, president of Hispanic Communications Network. A 2007 study by Arbitron and Edison Media also found that Hispanics listen to the radio at work in higher numbers than other ethnic groups.

"There are lots of reasons, including much more listening happening on the job because of the nature of their type of work," Alcazar said.

This guy has polarized the Democrats, and conveniently blamed it on our beloved Hillary. Older Latinos won't let his divisive contagion spread.

In the name of unity, Obama plunged the Democrats into a civil war. Latinos may not follow all the complex arguments you liberals rant about, but they easily see the disconnect between his words and his actions.

Obama is a shady character, and many people just don't trust him. Women, seniors, and Latinos are all suspicious of him. And even when they trust him, they think he's weak and confused.

Mr. McCain you can speak spanish to me all you can but I am an American of Hispanic ethnicity who demands secured borders, strict enforcement of our laws, and English as our main language.

You do not have to pander to me Mr. McCain, for I am not an "illegal alien" I expect our laws respected, our language, our American culture perserved and most of all respect for the United States, and our flag is the only flag that would mean anything to me and my entire family.

My relatives and my vote would go only and only towards a strong President who stands for Americans first, who stands for deportatation and brings back the respect for our country.

Thank You
Ms. Carmen

John McCain has his work cut out for him with the Latino community. Republicans are going to be very drawn to Barack Obama after they get to know him better. Feel free to share with undecided friends across the country. http://acropolisreview.com/2008/04/top-reasons-to-give-barack-obama-your.html

Even when talking about gas, politicians feel the need to insert an ethnic appeal. And, it's an ethnic appeal that they wouldn't use for any other ethnicity/race.

This isn't that shocking for McCain, considering that he used Memorial Day to Hispander:

And, it's not shocking considering that one of his outreach directors is a former cabinet-level official with the Mexican government:

You know John McCain as well Obama, are going to sign into law a massive AMNESTY. That's why we must pass the the SAVE ACT, before its too late.

The Save Act would overrule any state law and bring back 'The RULE OF LAW' to our nation. A big pay-off for big business who needs Taxpayers to support their profits, because they don't want to pay livable wages, health care or any other benefit. When they know that stupid taxpayers will fund the free health care, schooling and prison cells.

Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) need to be fully funded, so as representatives of 'THE PEOPLE' they can use interior enforcement, to go after parasite employers. An army of (ICE) can check construction sites and other businesses, to determine if the employer is hiring illegal aliens. But of most importance is to rid our nation of the criminal's who also came with cheap labor. Finally after the enactment of the 1986 Simpson/Mazzoli immigration bill three decades ago, the law is finally being strictly enforced. If you want the (ICE) to get the job done and send the millions of illegal aliens fleeing your state.

Then Demand the Democrats endorse the Federal SAVE ACT (H.R.4088), which will give the agency the monetary backing to imprison predator businesses and go after 'Sanctuary city' states. Today! NOW! Phone: (2022243121)

I guess McCain thinks that Spainish speakers are the only ones who don't know that he doesn't have any economic plan and admitted he know and cares little about the economy. I doubt Latinos are as uninformed as McCain believes.
