Obama Raised $52 Million in June

Updated 11:02 a.m.
By Matthew Mosk
Sen. Barack Obama announced this morning that he raised $52 million in June, the second-highest monthly total ever for a presidential campaign, and a sign that rank and file Democrats were coalescing around their party's presumptive nominee.

The fundraising number, announced in an early morning e-mail to supporters, signals that Obama was able to rebound from a sluggish May, when he raised $21.9 million.

Such a significant rise was not unexpected. June was the month Obama clinched the nomination and his staunch primary opponent, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, dropped out the race. And it was the first month Obama began raising significant funds for both the primary season and the general election.

In 2004, Democrat John Kerry had his best month of fundraising in March, when he secured his party's presidential nomination.

Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said in this morning's e-mail that the Democrat has $72 million in cash on hand. The Democratic National Committee has a further $20.3 million in the bank, meaning the candidate and his party have $92 million to spend on their presidential efforts.

While Republican rival Sen. John McCain raised just $22 million last month, his campaign has said that he and his party entered July with a combined $93 million in the bank, and McCain campaign manager Rick Davis predicted the campaign and Republican National Committee would combine to raise another $100 million in July and August.

The DNC has consistently lagged behind the RNC in fundraising, though June marked a turnaround for the party. The Democrats also are working to catch up with Republicans in establishing state fundraising committees. The party announced it would launch such efforts in 18 states, including key battlegrounds such as Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Still, the Obama campaign attempted to turn McCain's current financial edge into a fundraising tool in its e-mail to supporters. Plouffe told the supporters, "McCain and the RNC together still have a huge cash advantage, and we need your help to close the gap."

Ibrahim sez: "In his book Obama said that his 'Father Was A Goat Herder'. In plain English, it means that Daddy scr*ws goats."

Uh, Ibrahim ... you don't by any chance own a dog, do you? (Or perhaps a shaved gerbil?)

Obama raising lots of money? Thanks to 90% of the news media in bed with Obama. So much for campaign financing reform, right media?
If Kerry was "Swift boated", then Republicans are always "liberal pressed".

Nancy Pelosi, please step down as House Speaker. You're ineffective. You spend millions of taxpayer money on that expensive jumbo jet to fly in luxury to from SF to DC. And you preach responsible spending. You're a hypocrite. What's worst, you're filthy rich, but you keep spending the People's money.

Maybe some of that $52 millions come from people with ties to radical Islam and terrorists, as Obama is a magnet for questionable supporters. The Nation of Islam is certainly among his donors, as well as Hollywood drug addicts and sorry excuses for pond scums.

Mike claims Obama said "I will not take private donations"

John challenges him to name the day and place Obama said that.

Mike comes back with quotes from other people that he thinks somehow justify that Obama said what he said that Obama said.

The facts are all there. You are caught red-handed. The lies are all documented below and everybody can read them and you cannot detract them.

It is no longer worth my time to argue with you because all the proof is below!

From the New York Times on line in Jume.

"Senator Obama's reversal on public financing is one of a number of reversals that he has taken," Mr. McCain said in Columbus Junction, Iowa, where he had been touring the floods. "I'm especially disturbed by this decision of Senator Obama's because he signed his name on a piece of paper, signed his name.
A reversal of course is an antiseptic phrase for lying.

BTW Mike, since you are retarded, maybe you had trouble doing the Google search, so here is the direct link:

SUMMARY:

- Mike claims Obama said "I will not take private donations".

- John points out that the only website that Google is aware of such a quote is this web site where he posted it.

- Mike tries to argue that the whole internet is liberally biased and will not publish the truth.

Who will you believe?

Posted by: John | July 18, 2008 2:24 AM

You know, you can keep on spewing that nonsense all you want. I know your strategy: once you get caught lying on one thing, you try to change the subject to another vicious attack. You are a typical Republican lying moron and you were caught! HA!

Posted by: John | July 18, 2008 2:22 AM

Ha! You don't have too much to say now after getting caught red-handed, do you? :-)

Posted by: John | July 18, 2008 2:20 AM

Over looking the many lies coming from Obama nothing can be worse for America than the inexperienced ultra liberal Marxist Obama along with the incompetent Democrat congress with an all time low rating of 11% that will cripple capitalism the economic engine of this country and put more people into bondage to an even bigger and more bloated government. Yes, this is a lot worse than Obama's connections to numerous unsavory characters and outrageous statements he has made. Only the "used car salesman" could sell this to the public.

Posted by: Mike | July 18, 2008 2:19 AM

Yes John just because comments come from the spear catcher liberal media in bed with Obama doesn't make them true does it.
ROFL Bush lies and Obama has reversals or maybe they're "do overs".

Posted by: Mike | July 18, 2008 2:14 AM

Mike, let me help you out, because you seem to have trouble understanding that a quote from McCain that says Obama said something doesn't mean that he said what you think he said.

First, I want you to do a Google search for "I will not take private donations". Make sure you have the quotes in there because you said that Obama said that. What turns up? One site: this one! That's it! So the exact quote you said is not known anywhere on the internet except for the post you put up. Now if you're going to come here and say that the whole internet is in bed with Obama and they're all lying, well that's a pretty far stretch. But that's typical of you republican MORONS.

Now I suppose you don't see the contradiction of your claim of the Selma issue being widely covered on the networks and your claim with a liberal media in bed with Obama. I am not surprised you do not see that because you are a republican RETARD devoid of any logic. But let me tell you, son, there is a website out there that debunks myths and urban legends. It is called SNOPES. You can read about the Selma issue here:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/saywhat.asp

Now I know you are going to label SNOPES as liberal media, because it is evident that whenever a source of information does not say 100% what Republicans want it to say regardless of the amount of (or lack of truth), you label it as liberal. From your point of view the only source of truth in this world is Fox news and Conservapedia. I can understand that 30% of America is just as idiotic as you, but that's not enough to win an election. So keep on posting you libelous smears all over the internet and see how far it gets you. Sure, it will excite the 30% that agrees with you, but the rest of us are just not that stupid!

Posted by: John | July 18, 2008 2:06 AM

Obama's Selma comment/lie was widely covered on many networks. Almost everything a politician says today is recorded by someone. When Obama's comments over time are played side by side his problems with the truth are apparent. You'll never here or see this side by side on the networks or media outlets that are in bed with Obama.

Mike, when did Obama say "I will not take private donations?" Go ahead, give me a date and time.

Posted by: Bill | July 18, 2008 1:24 AM

see also this: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/50lies.asp

These type of urban legends can be seen from a mile away (if you are educated). They claim lots of things but never give sources and dates. They just claim somebody said something, then accuse him of lying and then say why it is a lie without enough details for anybody to look it up. Anyone who forwards on this type of nonsense is either intentionally deceptive or else down-right-stupid (or maybe both)! BTW John, you are right: dirty politics is the Republican game plan.

Thanks for pointing that out Bill. It looks like the claims that Obama is such a liar is a huge lie itself. This is typical of the lying Republicans who do this every election. You can't trust a single word they say!

"I WILL NOT TAKE PRIVATE DONATIONS"

Obama is also quoted as saying about the New Yorker cartoon, "So, all you can do is just tell the truth and trust in the American people that over time, they're going to know what the truth is."
Yes Obama, the American people over time, are going to know what the truth is.

1.) 'Selma Got Me Born' - LIAR, your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 - Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma didn't occur until 1965.

2.) 'Father Was A Goat Herder' - LIAR, he was a privileged, well educated youth, who went on to work with the socialistic Kenyan Government.

3.) 'Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter' - LIAR, he was part of one of the most corrupt and violent governments Kenya has ever had.

4.) 'My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom' - LIAR, your cousin Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting to
overturn a legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya. It is the first
widespread violence in decades.

5.) 'My Grandmother Has Always Been A Christian' - LIAR, she does her daily Salat prayers at 5am according to her own interviews. Not to mention, she was one of 14 wives to 1 man.

6.) 'My Name is African Swahili' - LIAR, your name is Arabic and Baraka (from which Barack came) means blessed in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama.

7.) 'I Never Practiced Islam' - LIAR, you practiced it daily at school, where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that faith for 31 years, until your wife made you change, so you could run for office.

8.) 'My Schoo l In Indonesia was Christian' - LIAR, you were registered as Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies for making silly faces. (check your own book).

9.) 'I Was Fluent In Indonesian' - LIAR, not one teacher says you could speak the language.

10.) 'Because I Lived In Indonesia, I Have More Foreign Experience' - LIAR, you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and couldn't even speak the language. What did you learn, how to study the Koran and watch cartoons?

11.) 'I Am Stronger On Foreign Affairs' - LIAR, except for Africa (surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise), you have never been anywhere else on the planet and thus have NO experience with our closest allies.

12.) 'I Blame My Early Drug Use On Ethnic Confusion' - LIAR, you were quite content in high school to be Barry Obama, no mention
of Kenya and no mention of struggle to identify - your classmates
said you were just fine...you merely chose to do drugs.

13.)'An Ebony Article Moved Me To Run For Office' - LIAR, Ebony
has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.

14.) 'A Life Magazine Article Changed My Outlook On Life' - LIAR, Life has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.

15.) 'I Won't Run On A National Ticket' in '08' - LIAR, here you are, despite saying, live on TV, that you would not have enough experience by then, and you are all about having experience first.

16.) 'Voting Present rather than Yes or No is Common In Illinois' - LIAR, That is common for YOU, but not many others have 130
'Present' votes which means you wouldn't commit yourself because you didn't want the voters to know the real you and where you stod on
the issues!

17.) 'Oops, I Misvoted' - LIA R, only when caught by church groups and democrats, did you beg to change your so-called 'misvote'.

18.) 'I Was A Professor Of Law' - LIAR, you were only a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.

19.) 'I Was A Constitutional Lawyer' - LIAR, you were only a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.

20.) 'Without Me, There Would Be No Ethics Bill' - LIAR, you didn't write it, introduce it, change it, or create it.

21.) 'The Ethics Bill Was Hard To Pass' - LIAR, it took just 14 days from start to finish.

22.) 'I Wrote A Tough Nuclear Bill' - LIAR, your bill was rejected by your own party for its pandering and lack of all regulation - mainly because of the money you took from your Nuclear Donor, Exelon, from which David Axelrod came.

23.) 'I Have Released My State Records' - LIAR, as of March, 2008, state bills you sponsored or voted for have yet to be released, exposing all the special interests pork hidden within.

24.) 'I Took On The Asbestos Altgeld Gardens Mess' - LIAR, you were part of a large group of people who remedied Altgeld Gardens. You failed to mention anyone else but yourself, in your books.

25.) 'My Economics Bill Will Help America' - LIAR, your 111 economic policies were just combined into a proposal which lost 99-0, and even YOU vote d against your own bill.

26.) 'I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois' - LIAR, even your own supporters claim to have never seen any BOLD action on your part.

27 .) 'I Passed 26 Of My Own Bills In One Year' - LIAR, they were not YOUR bills, but rather handed to you, after their creation by a fellow Senator, to assist you in a future bid for higher office.

28.) 'No One Contacted Canada About NAFTA' - LIAR, the Canadian Government issued the names and a memo of the conversation your campaign had with them.

29.) 'I Am Tough On Terrorism' - LIAR, you missed the Iran Resolution vote on terrorism and your good friend Ali Abunimah supports the destruction of Israel and another friend el Hadi(sp?) was stopped by the Federal Government from collecting and sending donations to the terrorist group Hamas...now he is raising money for you and lists your wife Michelle as a supporter of his and she lists him as one of her friends. Also, you and your wife are known co-horts of the man and wife 'Weather-Underground' hippie pair who admitted killing people and bombing several federal buildings back in the late sixties or early seventies. The man has written a book saying he and his wife only wish they had done more killings and bombings!

30.) 'I Am Not Acting As President Yet' - LIAR, after the NAFTA Memo, a dead terrorist in the FARC, in Colombia, was found with a letter stating how you and he were working together on getting FARC recognized officially.

31.) 'I Didn't Run Ads In Florida' - LIAR, you allowed national ads to run 8-12 times per day for two weeks - and you still lost.

32.) 'I Won Michigan' - LIAR, no you didn't.

33.) 'I won Nevada' - LIAR, no you did not.

34.) 'I Want All Votes To Count' - LIAR, you said let the delegates decide.

35.) 'I Want Americans To Decide' - LIAR, you prefer caucuses that limit the vote, confuse the voters, force a public vote, and only operate during small windows of time.

36.) 'I passed 900 Bills in the State Senate' - LIAR, you only passed 26, most of which you didn't write yourself.

37.) 'My Campaign Was Extorted By A Friend' - LIAR, that friend is threatening to sue if you do not stop saying this. (Note: Obama has recently stopped saying this.)

38.) 'I Believe In Fairness, Not Tactics' - LIAR, you used tactics to eliminate Alice Palmer from running against you.

39.) 'I Don't Take PAC Money' - LIAR, you have taken loads of it.

40.) 'I don't Have Lobbyists' - LIAR, you have over 47 lobbyists, and counting.

41.) 'My Campaign Had Nothing To Do With The 1984 Ad' - LIAR,
your own ca mpaign worker made the ad on his Apple in one
afternoon.

42.) 'My Campaign Never Took Over MySpace' - LIAR, Tom, who started MySpace issued a warning about this advertising to
MySpace clients.

43.) 'I Inspire People With My Words' - LIAR, you inspire people with other people's words.

44.) 'I Have Passed Bills In The U.S. Senate' - LIAR, you have passed A BILL in the U.S. Senate - for Africa, which shows YOUR priorities.

45.) 'I Have Always Been Against Iraq' - LIAR, you weren't in office to vote against it AND you hav e voted to fund it every single time, unlike Kucinich, who seems to be gutting you, Obama.

46.) 'I Have Always Supported Universal Health Care' - LIAR, your plan leaves all of us working taxpayers to pay for the 15,000,000 who don't have to buy it.

47.) 'I Only Found Out About My Investment Conflicts Via Mail' - LIAR,
both companies you site as having sent you letters about this conflict have no record of any such letter ever being created or sent.

48.) 'I Am As Patriotic As Anyone' - LIAR,
you won't wear a flag pin and you don't put your hand over your
heart during the Anthem... because you have said 'you didn't want to offend muslims and others who don't like America'!

49.) 'My Wife Didn't Mean What She Said About Pride In Country' - LIAR, your wife's words follow lock-step in the vein of Wright and Farrahkan, in relation to their contempt and hatred of
America.

50.) 'Wal-Mart Is A Company I Would't Support' - LIAR, your wife has received nearly a quarter of a million dollars through
Treehouse, which is connected to Wal-Mart.

Maybe the Sunis and Shiites will abduct Obama when he's in Iraq. That'll be historic.

Obama's excellent a taking people's money. Let's see if he can put money back in their pockets without stealing it from others. It's possible that Obama won't be able to deliver any of his promises. Maybe then the mass of supporters will turn into mobs. Obama is a tragedy waiting to unfold. He'll be crucified by his own supporters.

Oh I hope Obama gets the presidency. I can't wait to see the "deer in the headlights" expressions. His 143 days of Senate experience should prepare him for some very entertaining leadership decisions. I just pray that the national security buildup during the Bush years will hold for 4 more years!

It'll be funny if Obama takes people's money now, but he can't live up to expectations when he's in the White House. If he can't learn fast enough while he's on the job, the American people should get their refunds.

Obama's campaign does not accept donations from Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs, and neither does the Democratic National Committee.

But John McCain and the RNC have no such standards.

Are you curious why McCain & the RNC are asking to be bought off?...

The statistics about Chicago school shootings show why we need reasonable and enforceable gun control laws. While you can certainly kill with a knife or baseball bat having a gun makes it possible across the street or from the top floor of the Texas School book depository. Hunting game in the country is quite fine but gangs hunting in the city make the old Rap Brown cry about violence being as American as cherry pie all too true.

Well stated. I have been an Barack Obama supporter from the start and though I understand the strong feelings felt by supporters of both Barack and Hillary, I would like to see the animosity die down. I have contributed to both the Obama campaign and toward retiring Hillary's debt. At this point, I am not certain who will be the best choice for VP for Obama to win in the GE but I believe he and his campaign are weighing the decision very carefully. If he decides the greatest chance for success in the GE and in office is to pick Hillary for VP, I will enthusiastically support the ticket. If on the other hand, he determines he needs a VP with different geographical or strengths, I will support that also.

On a list of a dozen reasons why Obama will win in November, #2 and #5:

2. The Organization Factor: Obama has built a remarkable organization, in part through using the Internet. Nothing quite like it has been seen before in its capacity to raise money, generate enthusiasm, and get out the vote. For more on the uniqueness of Obama"s organization, see Joshua Green"s piece, "The Amazing Money Machine" http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200806/obama-finance and Marc Ambinde

5. The Money Factor: A corollary to the Organization Factor. Obama will have lots of it and will be able to raise more and more of it. To those who say that money can't buy love or office, agreed, at least in terms of the former. But money can certainly help win office. It is especially helpful if you have a good candidate, a good brand as they say, to sell. Obama is such a brand.

As well as Mrs. Mccains drug addiction and the Keeting 5. It's all coming back. Bush did a good job in 2000

==========
-- (CBS) Presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama leads Republican counterpart John McCain 45 percent to 39 percent in the latest CBS News/New York Times poll of registered voters nationwide. The six percentage point spread is unchanged since June, when Obama led McCain 48 percent to 42 percent. --

And us Clintonites, now begin the "I told you so"
refrain.

Only up 6, is weak with the GOP in historical disfavor.
Everyone knows by now they are corrupt and
incompetent. Bush is at 28% approval - lower than
NIXON...

You blow that out, you don't barely lead it.

Conversely, down only 6 is an excellent position
for a GOP, that has made an art form of turning
summer deficits into fall leads on the back of
smear campaigns (Dukakis, Gore, Kerry - all
led big early, all lost).

(Actually, to digress, Gore won... ;-)

Point holds. 6% deficit / childsplay for falsehood
mongers like Rove and Mehlman. Oh btw, by NOT
going with Hillary, the nearly-as-ignorant DNC just
handed them a motherlode of untapped smear
material.

Smart Mr. Dean! Brace yourselves, for the return
of Rev. Wright. "GD America", Barack. You were
there, you knew, you lied about knowing.

And that is only the true portion, of the coming personal
attacks on him. It will get much uglier still. They will be
repeated so often and loudly by the Limbaugh's and
Hannity's and O'Reilly's, some of it will stick. Ask
McSame what Rove did to him in the SC 2000 primary.
Ask the late Ann Richards, what he did to her in the '95
TX govenor race. Bankrupt of legitimate solutions, it's
how they win in the modern era. Here it comes.

Both parties are dominated now by total ignorants.
Nader anyone?

The difference is, Obama does it effortlessly. Mccain did 90 fund raisers to end up with like 1/3 as much as Obama. Not too good and he can't keep that up.
=====
Lemme guess - somehow the mainstream media will desperately try to spin it into a BAD THING that Obama brought in nearly triple McCain's numbers. "...but, uh but why didn't he bring in more? What does it mean? And McCain is a 'maverick'. Isn't he just the most mavericky maverick? He hosts a good cookout. Isn't he just so mavericky? Isn't his mavericky fundraising so impressive and Obama's so disapointing?"

And so on.

Many Hill supporters are openly supporting Barack for now, however that could still change depending on who he chooses for VP. He doesn't have to necessarily pick Hill for VP to get our support but it would help. If we don't like his VP choice, we might decide we just can't vote for the combined ticket. I would hope that he would pick her. She obviously would bring the most to the ticket and it would make her supporters happy. It would likely pull back those that were driven over to the Republicans to vote for McCain also. She would bring in Arkansas, maybe Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio and definately New York. She would balance the ticket by appealing to the same people Barack doesn't appeal to. But if he thinks it is better to only appeal to a fraction of these people by choosing someone else, that is his call. It would be a dream ticket and I would think that is what he would want, make a lot of people who do care about it happy, but it is his call. They were so close on th issues that they were almost the same. She brings in the experience he lacks. The ticket would be outstanding and historically significant with the first Black president and the first woman VP, but it is his call. In spite of the long primary, Hill is a strong assett with a lot of power in the Democratic party that Barack needs if he becomes president, but it is his call.

Hill introduced him to her big money people to help his campaign....has anyone heard if Hills debt is cleared yet?

yea that PUMA thing, you know, as Dems we should probably try something like that. The repugs saw all the crying trogladiks and went out and set up a group to sup up their votes. Maybe if we set up a right-wing group dedicated to exposing the Muslim takeover of America I bet we could sup up a substantial percentage of the McCain racists... or maybe a group dedicated to ridding America of the Clinton's... that would work. She is despised across party lines.

Yeah, McCain is the un-W. when it comes to campaigning. While in all objectivity W. has been one of the worst presidents ever, he was probably the best campaigner--he reminds me of a used car salesman, but that's another story. Meanwhile, McSame would hands down make a better president than W. (at least the former would give a hoot), but has to rely on RNC funds to stay competitive in the race. W. and his "InternetS" was quite telling, but apparently McCain doesn't really use a computer at all. I don't see how you can claim empathy with the average Joew when you don't even use the tools that he does.

The past couple of weeks have been especially difficult when it comes to McCain flip-flops.

* McCain supported the drilling moratorium; now he's against it.

* McCain strongly opposes a windfall-tax on oil company profits. Three weeks earlier, he was perfectly comfortable with the idea.

* McCain thought Bush's warrantless-wiretap program circumvented the law; now he believes the opposite.

* McCain defended "privatizing" Social Security. Now he says he's against privatization (though he actually still supports it.)

Wait, I'm not done with the last two weeks yet....

* McCain wanted to change the Republican Party platform to protect abortion rights in cases of rape and incest. Now he doesn't.

* McCain thought the estate tax was perfectly fair. Now he believes the opposite.

* He opposed indefinite detention of terrorist suspects. When the Supreme Court reached the same conclusion, he called it "one of the worst decisions in the history of this country."

* McCain said he would "not impose a litmus test on any nominee." He used to promise the opposite.

And these come after these other reversals from April and May:

* McCain believes the telecoms should be forced to explain their role in the administration's warrantless surveillance program as a condition for retroactive immunity. He used to believe the opposite.

* McCain supported storing spent nuclear fuel at Yucca Mountain in Nevada. Now he believes the opposite.

* McCain supported moving "towards normalization of relations" with Cuba. Now he believes the opposite.

* McCain believed the U.S. should engage in diplomacy with Hamas. Now he believes the opposite.

* McCain believed the U.S. should engage in diplomacy with Syria. Now he believes the opposite.

* He argued the NRA should not have a role in the Republican Party's policy making. Now he believes the opposite.

* McCain supported his own lobbying-reform legislation from 1997. Now he doesn't.

* He wanted political support from radical televangelists like John Hagee and Rod Parsley. Now he doesn't.

* McCain supported the Lieberman/Warner legislation to combat global warming. Now he doesn't.

And these are the flip-flops I've noticed earlier:

* McCain pledged in February 2008 that he would not, under any circumstances, raise taxes. Specifically, McCain was asked if he is a "'read my lips' candidate, no new taxes, no matter what?" referring to George H.W. Bush's 1988 pledge. "No new taxes," McCain responded. Two weeks later, McCain said, "I'm not making a 'read my lips' statement, in that I will not raise taxes."

* McCain is both for and against a "rogue state rollback" as a focus of his foreign policy vision.

* McCain says he considered and did not consider joining John Kerry's Democratic ticket in 2004.

* In 1998, he championed raising cigarette taxes to fund programs to cut underage smoking, insisting that it would prevent illnesses and provide resources for public health programs. Now, McCain opposes a $0.61-per-pack tax increase, won't commit to supporting a regulation bill he's co-sponsoring, and has hired Philip Morris' former lobbyist as his senior campaign adviser.

* McCain has changed his economic worldview on multiple occasions.

* McCain has changed his mind about a long-term U.S. military presence in Iraq on multiple occasions.

* McCain is both for and against attacking Barack Obama over his former pastor at his former church.

* McCain believes Americans are both better and worse off than they were before Bush took office.

* McCain is both for and against earmarks for Arizona.

* McCain believes his endorsement from radical televangelist John Hagee was both a good and bad idea.

* McCain's first mortgage plan was premised on the notion that homeowners facing foreclosure shouldn't be "rewarded" for acting "irresponsibly." His second mortgage plan took largely the opposite position.

* McCain vowed, if elected, to balance the federal budget by the end of his first term. Soon after, he decided he would no longer even try to reach that goal.

* In February 2008, McCain reversed course on prohibiting waterboarding.

* McCain used to champion the Law of the Sea convention, even volunteering to testify on the treaty's behalf before a Senate committee. Now he opposes it.

* McCain was a co-sponsor of the DREAM Act, which would grant legal status to illegal immigrants' kids who graduate from high school. Now he's against it.

* On immigration policy in general, McCain announced in February 2008 that he would vote against his own legislation.

* In 2006, McCain sponsored legislation to require grassroots lobbying coalitions to reveal their financial donors. In 2007, after receiving "feedback" on the proposal, McCain told far-right activist groups that he opposes his own measure.

* McCain said before the war in Iraq, "We will win this conflict. We will win it easily." Four years later, McCain said he knew all along that the war in Iraq war was "probably going to be long and hard and tough."

* McCain said he was the "greatest critic" of Rumsfeld's failed Iraq policy. In December 2003, McCain praised the same strategy as "a mission accomplished." In March 2004, he said, "I'm confident we're on the right course." In December 2005, he said, "Overall, I think a year from now, we will have made a fair amount of progress if we stay the course."

* McCain went from saying he would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade to saying the exact opposite.

* McCain went from saying gay marriage should be allowed, to saying gay marriage shouldn't be allowed.

* McCain criticized TV preacher Jerry Falwell as "an agent of intolerance" in 2002, but then decided to cozy up to the man who said Americans "deserved" the 9/11 attacks.

* McCain used to oppose Bush's tax cuts for the very wealthy, but he reversed course in February.

* On a related note, he said 2005 that he opposed the tax cuts because they were "too tilted to the wealthy." By 2007, he denied ever having said this, and insisted he opposed the cuts because of increased government spending.

* In 2000, McCain accused Texas businessmen Sam and Charles Wyly of being corrupt, spending "dirty money" to help finance Bush's presidential campaign. McCain not only filed a complaint against the Wylys for allegedly violating campaign finance law, he also lashed out at them publicly. In April, McCain reached out to the Wylys for support.

* McCain supported a major campaign-finance reform measure that bore his name. In June 2007, he abandoned his own legislation.

* McCain opposed a holiday to honor Martin Luther King, Jr., before he supported it.

* McCain was against presidential candidates campaigning at Bob Jones University before he was for it.

* McCain was anti-ethanol. Now he's pro-ethanol.

* McCain was both for and against state promotion of the Confederate flag.

* McCain decided in 2000 that he didn't want anything to do with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, believing he "would taint the image of the 'Straight Talk Express.'" Kissinger is now the Honorary Co-Chair for his presidential campaign in New York.

I have finally gotten my Clinton supporting neighbor to come around. It was like snapping a hypnitic trance. She is "good people" though.

At least in my case, I have come to see that it has been more pride and disappointment that kept her from "openly" supporting Obama though she claimed she always would have in the face of another four years of a republican president.

However, when we, though considered "middle" class, discuss the crumbling economy, declining value of the U.S. Dollar, unemployment, Healthcare Crisis, Iraq War, a "free" Osama Bin Laden, Hurricane Katrina, Valerie Plame, Karl Rove, Dick Chaney, Scooter Libby, etc. It is pretty clear that our difference between Hillary and Obama, are miniscule in comparison with our differences with Republicans.

GM is going down the toilet, "Dr." Chevy. And we are also going to flush your candidate, McLame.

The ONLY reason May was a "sluggish" fundraising month for Barack is because the campaign let us know that there was plenty of money in the bank. Barack's army of small donors is always at the ready to kick in more of those $25 - $100 donations any time we get the word.

"Yes We Can" eat pork and beans, and tuna mac, for a few more months to get our guy into the White House!

This wackjob proves over and over he's NOT who he claims he is and he changes his postions by the hour.

However, if you must know, she is in Colorado campaigning on his behalf.

Do you like being called a DITTOHEAD DR. CHevy? Can you not come up with things by yourself or is it just better for you to take what you hear on the rightwing media and use it for your own.

$52MILLION IS about right if most of the 1,000,000 donors give at least $25.00. It is credible; my two 20-year old daughters can only afford $25 each and they donate whenever they have extra money.

Look what's happening in Obama's old district, the south-side of Chicago.

HOPE and CHANGE is something that Obama isn't going to bring to the White House because he can't even bring it to his old district.

LIES and NO CHANGE is what we can expect. ................................sorry here's the FACTS:

""Violent crime in the city of Chicago is out of control," Blagojevich said at the bill signing ceremony. "I'm offering resources of the state to the city to work in a constructive way with Mayor Daley to do everything we can possibly do to help stop this violence," said the governor.

The summer of 2008 will be remembered as especially violent. Blagojevich said there's been a child shot nearly every day since June 26, with 29 Chicago Public School students shot since last fall.

"Twenty-eight of those kids are African-American and Latino. Hard to imagine that that would be acceptable if that were, in fact, the case inother parts of the city or in a middle-class suburb somewhere," he said. "Something is wrong, and this violence has to stop."

Bringing in state troopers -- even National Guard helicopters to high-crime areas -- is still very much in the planning stages."

Are WE THE PEOPLE going to "promote" a politician that has no record of accomplishments but a CLEAR record of "failure"???

Watching Obama's daily adjustments in his Iraq policy; and, his repeated attempts to explain what he REALLY meant to say on the issue the previous day, portrays the man as a truly sympathetic figure who is analogous to an athlete mistakenly entered into an Olympics level competition when in actuality he has yet to qualify in the Pop Warner leagues. Obama delivered the final blow to his multiple reversals when he announced PRIOR-TO his Iraq trip that he would be going to Iraq to investigate the ACTUAL conditions on the ground in that intensely critical region of the Middle East. In other words, his so called fact-finding trip is a total sham to paper over his confused and contradictory policy statements. Obama is unequivocally the least qualified Presidential candidate ever nominated by a major political party. If the man were auditioning for a role as a replacement for Jay Leno as a stand-up comic we all could see the humor in his embarrassing predicament; but, this inept clown is actually running for the Presidency of the most powerful nation on earth. The Democrat Party must certainly realize by now what a grievous error they made in initially nominating him; but, for our Nation's sake let's not carry this terrifying charade beyond the Democrat convention. -----WELL WORTH YOUR TIME TO READ-------

For years, the mainstream news media has refused to stop idolizing the so-called straight talking maverick John McCain long enough to question the mental health consequences of the years he spent as a "special" prisoner of the communists in North Vietnam.

McCain, the presumptive Republican candidate for President, who could one day have his finger on the "red button," claims the communists subjected him to 5 ½ years of nonstop indoctrination sessions so intense that he attempted suicide.

Unfortunately for McCain, after his bomber was hit by anti-aircraft fire near Hanoi on October 26, 1967, he parachuted into the hands of an evil communist enemy who 7 years earlier had adopted Soviet methods of prisoner interrogation.

At that time, the Soviets were perfecting techniques designed "to put a man's mind into a fog so that he will mistake what is true for what is untrue, what is right for what is wrong, and come to believe what did not happen actually had happened."

Psychiatric Journals are flush with reports concluding that former POWs may remain entangled in "harsh psychological battles" with themselves for decades after returning home including difficulty in controlling intense emotions such as anger and stress.

In political circles, McCain, sometimes referred to as "insane McCain," is well known for having a "volcanic" temper which his colleagues say often erupts into vulgar language and personal insults.

Democrat Paul Johnson, the former mayor of Phoenix, experienced McCain's in your face temperament up close. "His volatility borders in the area of being unstable," Johnson said. "Before I let this guy put his finger on the button, I would have to give considerable pause."

The Journal of America Medicine reported in an 1996 article that being a former POW is associated with "increased cumulative incidence rates of chronic disorders of the peripheral nervous system, joints, and back and an increased hazard rate of peptic ulcer."

The 71 year-old McCain most certainly suffers pain and the weakening effects of chronic arthritis. He broke both arms when he was forced to eject after his bomber was hit. He says the Vietnamese periodically re-fractured his bones during years of interrogation and torture which rendered him permanently incapable of raising his arms above his head.

McCain has never been publicly vetted about what and how much medications he is taking. Aside from his anger and arthritic pain issues, McCain has had reoccurring bouts of malignant melanoma, a deadly form of cancer that can spread quickly throughout the body.

These facts alone beg the question on how a President McCain, in the absence of his campaign staff handlers, would deal with a snap decision that had to be made "if the White House phone rang at 3 a.m."

McCain's POW experience is unique. His communist captors considered him the "crown prince" of U.S. POWs because his father, Adm. John McCain, was commander of all U.S. forces fighting in Vietnam. Because the communists believed he was from a "royal family" and would when finally released return to the United States to an important military or government job, they held him for two years in "solitary confinement."

In February, Reuters news reported that McCain's former captors are expressing delight in the news of his nomination as Republican party Presidential candidate. "In the past Senator McCain has conducted activities that had a positive impact in bringing the two nations [Vietnam/United States] closer. That is a point that Vietnamese people who follow the current affairs do recognize," said retired North Vietnamese Colonel Nguyen Van Phuong, representing retired and present members of the Vietnamese communist military.

Since McCain was first elected to Congress 1982 (and later to the Senate), he and his staff have expended tens of thousands of hours pushing U.S. legislation favoring communist Vietnam. In 1995, McCain stood with Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass. to give President Bill Clinton valuable political cover he needed to disregard the issue of missing U.S. POWs in Vietnam and remove the U.S. trade embargo against Vietnam.

No U.S. POW had any communication with McCain or knew where he was being held during at least 8 to 12 months of McCain's first two years of captivity. He has either been unable or unwilling to account for the months he was missing from the POW system.

Within days of McCain's shoot down and after being told the identity of his famous father, the Vietnamese rushed him to Gai Lam military hospital (U.S. government documents), a medical facility normally unavailable to treat U.S. POWs. McCain was kept at Gai Lam for six weeks under the control of Soviet medical specialist anxious to test the use of their "mind and behavior modification" drugs on such an important prisoner.

McCain said the communists were so effective with their interrogation techniques that he broke on the fourth day after being captured and began cooperating. "Demands for military information were accompanied by threats to terminate my medical treatment if I [McCain] did not cooperate. Eventually, I gave them my ship's name and squadron number, and confirmed that my target had been the power plant." Pages 193-194, Faith of My Fathers, by John McCain.

U.S. intelligence agents concluded in the early 1950s that Soviet intelligence (KGB) agents were experimenting on their prisoners with "mind control" techniques and behavior modification drugs

Allen W. Dulles, the newly confirmed CIA director acknowledged the dilemma in April 1953, when he told a gathering of Princeton alumni that "a sinister battle for men's minds" was underway. The Soviets, Dulles explained "have developed brain perversion techniques, some of which are so subtle and so abhorrent to our way of life that we have recoiled from facing up to them."

During the Cold War, the Soviets and the CIA began competing with secret experiments on prisoners aimed at honing the use of "chemical and biological materials capable of producing human behavioral and physiological changes." The experiments included isolation, sleep deprivation, humiliation, alternating with long hours of interrogation.

Since the Russians and Chinese (and our own CIA) have proven they can in a relative short time alter the basic emotional and behavior patterns of captives, it is fair to assume that McCain's unpredictable and often volatile temperament is directly related to his treatment as a 5 ½ prisoner of the communists.

The American public was first exposed to Soviet "brain perversion techniques" during Korean War when the communists launched a propaganda offensive featuring filmed and recorded testimony of captured U.S. servicemen confessing to war crimes including the use of germ warfare.

By the end of the Korean War, "70 percent of the 7,190 U.S. prisoners held in China had either made confessions or signed petitions calling for an end to the American war effort in Asia. Fifteen percent collaborated fully with the Chinese, and only 5 percent steadfastly resisted."

Military officials were especially alarmed when a significant number of the U.S. prisoners refused to recant their confessions as soon as they returned to the United States.

Beginning in 1960, KGB and Chinese agents directed the Vietnamese in establishing Vietnam's original interrogation guidelines for U.S. prisoners. They suggested interrogation techniques and issued specific intelligence requirements to be extracted during prisoner interrogations.

Official American position on POW confessions was that they were false and forced while privately expressing grave concern that the collaborations proved the communists had developed techniques that could "put a man's mind into a fog."

Psychologist have identified behavior in which a former prisoner emotionally bonds with an abuser as the Stockholm Syndrome. McCain was a strong advocate for prosecuting Bosnian, Yugoslavian and Iraqi war criminals and is adamantly opposed to any form of normalized relation with Cuba until it allows "free elections, human right organizations and a free and independent media."

Yet, McCain has resisted any kind of war crimes investigation of his former Vietnamese torturers. Prosecution and subsequent trials could bring to justice the Vietnamese torturers known by the American POWs as the Bug, Slopehead, the Prick, the Soft Soap Fairy, Rabbit, the Cat, Zorba and many others who were responsible for the murder in North Vietnam of at least 55 U.S. POWs and the brutal torture of hundreds of others.

In November 1991, Tracy Usry, chief investigator of the Minority Staff of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, testified before the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs, that the Soviets interrogated U.S. prisoners of war in Vietnam. McCain became outraged, interrupting Usry several times, arguing that "none of the returned U.S. prisoners of war released by Vietnam were ever interrogated by the Soviets."

Former KGB Maj. Gen. Oleg Kalugin testified during the hearings that the KGB did interrogate U.S. POWs in Vietnam. Kalugin stated that one of the POWs worked on by the KGB was a "high-ranking naval officer," who, according to Kalugin, agreed to work with the Soviets upon his repatriation to the United States and has frequently appeared on U.S. television.

Col. Bui Tin, a former Senior Colonel in the North Vietnamese Army, testified on the same day, but after Usry, that because of his high position in the Communist Party during the war he had the authority to "read all documents and secret telegrams from the politburo" pertaining to American prisoners of war. He said that not only did the Soviets interrogate some American prisoners of war, but that they treated the Americans very badly.

McCain stunned onlookers at the hearing when he moved to the witness table and physically embraced Col. Tin as if he was a long, lost brother.

In 1949 Dr. Andrew Salter authored Conditioned Reflex Therapy, a pioneering work in the field of psychoanalysis. Ten years later, as Richard Condon was writing The Manchurian Candidate, he asked Dr. Salter to help "design" the brainwashed character for the book and subsequent movie.

More than 40 years later, in 1992, during the C-SPAN broadcasts of the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs, Dr. Salter watched the hearings from his New York City apartment. Salter became fascinated with McCain's overly aggressive and angry behavior toward witnesses, especially family members of men still missing in action. After a few hours he called a friend telling her, "the signs are all there, I'm afraid Senator John McCain has been brainwashed."

During the Senate Select hearings, McCain opposed all efforts by the POW/MIA families and activists to have the Select Committee expand its investigation to study how successful the Vietnamese, Soviet, Chinese and Cuban interrogation apparatuses were at exploiting American prisoners of war.

News pundants have elevated McCain to "the most popular national political figure in the country" by repeatedly describing him as a "war hero" based on his refusal accept a communist offer of "early release" from captivity.

What the media has carelessly refused to acknowledge is that the camp's senior ranking U.S. POW (SRO) had issued unquestionable orders that if a POW was to be released, "it would be the longest held prisoner" Because McCain was not the longest held POW, he would have faced a military court-marshal if he had accepted the offer.

It is incumbent upon McCain to prove to the American people that the 5 1/2 years he spent at the mercy of communist interrogators did not leave him with mental health issues that could hinder him in making snap decisions "if the White House phone rang at 3 a.m."

Is McCain taking any kind of pain or "nerve" medicines? If so, do the medicines cause emotional and physical reactions?

McCain was once treated for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) which is said to get worse over time for former POWs, what is the status of his treatment?

Does McCain still harbor stress triggered suicidal tendencies?

Where was McCain and what was happening to him during the months he was missing from the POW camp?

McCain implies that he made only one propaganda broadcast for the communists, but Senate Foreign Relations Committee staffers say he made over 30. How many did he make and what did he get in return?

Why does McCain still deny that the Soviets were involved in the interrogation of U.S. POWs in Vietnam?

Does McCain's former interrogators, the communist Vietnamese, Russians, Chinese and Cubans have anything in their secret intelligence files about his behavior as a prisoner with which they could blackmail a President John McCain?

rm...with all due respect, I would like you- an avowed Clinton supporter- to explain to me why those 18 million Hillary supporters can't come up with $10 apiece to retire Clinton's debt and then some? Surely they aren't all maxxed out.

Why are the Hillary deadenders spending lots to take out full page ads promoting a floor fight at the Democratic Convention instead of spending that money to retire her debt? If Hillary is really supporting Obama, she should renounce these efforts to cause division and disrupt the convention and release her delegates. (She would, unless her REAL goal is to see Obama defeated in the general so she can run again in 2012.)

We are back in the "fundraising" game! Even more impressive was the average donation amount of $68. I guess I need to make another donation for July.

Also, you and your wife are known co-horts of the man and wife 'Weather-Underground' hippie pair who admitted killing people and bombing several federal buildings back in the late sixties or early seventies. The man has written a book saying he and his wife only wish they had done more killings and bombings!

We are back in the "fundraising" game! Even more impressive was the average donation amount of $68. I guess I need to make another donation for July.

Come on fellow Americans for Change (i.e. Democrats, Obamacans, Obamabots and Obamanites), let's make July a $60 million month for Obama!

There is "NO" real support for Mccain even among republicans. At best there are loyal republicans who will hold their nose and vote for Mccain. then you have those who just want to vote against Obama. Bigots, racists, you see their posts on here, whatever their reason are but none of it has to do with any real idea Mccain would make a good president.

So what happened to Howard Kurtz's article exposing the fact that ABC, CBS and NBC anchors are going to follow the obamessiah to Europe and the Middle East for "a major media extravaganza"?

The overwhelming opposition to such fawning (no one accompanied McCain on his travels) must have sent the editors scurrying for their delete button.

The networks know that during a slow rating period, summertime, prior to the Olympics and both conventions, this will get better ratings. Otherwise they would not be sent. It's all about money.

Besides, when McCain did his last tour over to the Mideast he had to have Sen Loserman correct his many misquotes.

Posted by: Anonymous | July 17, 2008 11:03 AM

If you check you will find Mccains travels were for the most part fake. He didn't want any big coverage, he wanted press and a story he could control. He would sneak over there for like a 24 hour stay on the ground, get a few photo op's and be out of there. Then later tell you how he was there meeting with the generals. Remember the trip where he was walking through the city and the phony story how safe it was. It was later we found out there were a hundred soldiers surrounding him and about 10 helicopters over head. They were phony and staged. Obamas will be the real thing. If anything foes wrong you will know about it. And if and when the generals, without it being filtered through the Bush administration, tell Obama we should be getting out of there as quickly and safely as possible you will hear the truth for maybe the first time.

Obama can raise that money every month will almost no effort, all he has to do is ask. Mccain has to literally beg and spend all his time trying to raise money. If his fund raising is any indication, it is the same way Obama will command votes in November as well. Mccain can't depend on votes from people who won't even contribute to his campaign.

Mosk's spin on these numbers is a bit bizarre. In Obama's "sluggish" month of May, he raised approximately as much as McCain did in his best fundraising month. Obama and the DNC have $92 million on hand, which essentially puts them even with McCain and the RNC and is an atypical situation for a Democratic presidential candidate.

Beyond that, as the Wall Street Journal is reporting today, McCain's fundraising is heavily dependent upon exploiting a loophole in campaign finance laws that allows it to collect checks as large as $70,000 from big donors by parsing the money between the campaign, the national party and state committees in four states. About two-thirds of the $62 million that they've raised in the quarter comes through that arrangement. Obama's money is coming mostly from small donors via the Internet--the average contributor to Obama in June gave $68. Most of them aren't even near the FEC limits yet. That suggests that Obama's high fundraising levels are sustainable through the fall and probably haven't even peaked yet.

She can't get her hands on a penny of it, it is illegal. Obamas supporters have to donate directly to her.

Good news for OBAMA campaign, but we need to do it again this month. I gave $50 again yesterday, (w/m, 67, retired, low-income) my total so far is $500, about two weeks of income. I figure I can give up a month of income for a decent candidate if I spread it out over a year or two.

I gave 50 free 'massages' at the campaign HQ again yesterday, (w/m, 67, papa-bear, hung) my total so far is 500, about two weeks of 'hard' effort. I figure I can give all this body can give for a decent candidate if I spread far enough.

This is more excellent news for Team Obama! I hope that the Wash Post and other MSM now start writing retractions of their shallow stories of last week that claimed that Obama was loosing steam, that he was faltering in his fund-raising efforts, that the average voters were turned off due to some false ideas about moving toward the center.

The excitement is still in the air, the bloom is still on the rose, and all those other cliches still apply! I contributed 50 dollars to Obama last month and I will again in July. I enjoy being part of this campaign, even in my little way.

Posted by: dee | July 17, 2008 10:19 AM

We give every month and are happy to give more, They also do mention Obama raised it effortlessly and will continue to do so. Mccain had something like 90 fund raisers in one month. He spends almost all his time fund raising, it is what he is doing today. When does he plan on campaigning for president?

=======
I knew the $32 million reported when McCains numbers where released. That is because the "Independence from the a broken system had over 130,000 contributors by July 1st. I figured that was $13 million alone. People are excited to donate to a campaign with an average of $68 per donation. People are excited by changing the way Obama finances his campaign.

"gbooksdc" hit the nail on the head. O'bama picked the best year--two opponents with lots of issues. I was just looking at the electoral map. This could be a Reaganist type victory. McCain will carry Arizona, Texas, Alabama and Kentucky; but just about every other historically RED state is in close contention; money, ads and debates may make the difference which all heavily favor O'Bama.

Please post constructive comments under these blog entries. The amount of vitriol and name calling from some of you is alarming. We will not all agree on who the best candidate is, but it would be far better for the debate if we kept our comments civil and constructive. Calling Obama a radical extremist is not only wrong, but makes you look foolish and stubborn. Calling McCain a crazy old fool disrespects a man who served his country with honor in the Vietnam war. Please, stop all the name calling and labeling of candidates, and other bloggers, and focus on the issues that will count in November for all Americans. Thank you.

In response to Philip, I will never understand the vilification of Hillary Clinton from folks like you. As for your argument regarding Hillary's campaign only being suspended, this is because she hopes to retire her debt. Suspending her campaign allows her by law to continue to raise money until the convention. Additionally, these blogs you mention, run by reengaged Clinton supporters, have absolutely no affiliation with Senator Clinton. In fact she has distanced herself publicly from any organized efforts to influence Barrack's decision or nominate her as the Democratic presidential nominee. Furthermore, you mention a new poll in California where adding Hillary to the ticket has little influence on voters. California does not represent the purple states, where this election will be decided. The Golden State is one of the most reliable blues states in the U.S. (thank you CA). Of course having Hillary on the ticket makes no difference there. The vast majority of Democrats including myself have coalesced around Barack. Look at his fundraising numbers! If you want to discuss VP selection strategy, the states where Hillary may have some benefit to Barack are the rust belt states where he will need a strong blue collar and independent showing to propel him to victory. Despite your vilification of a woman who essentially holds the same positions as Barack, 18 million Americans voted for her. Any Democrat would add her to the short list for VP as Senator Obama himself has indicated. Assuming you are a Democrat, our adversaries are not the Clintons. The opponent is John McCain and his Bush buddies who are advocating for four more years of the disastrous policies which have decimated our economy, our planet, our strength and our respect.

wrong who said that he needs to raise 75 million per month. the number is 50 million/month to reach 250 through the end of Oct....also, if you do that math, it looks like around 700,000 individual donations in June. A little better that McSame.

Posted by: Anonymous | July 17, 2008 10:01 AM

Matthew Mosk needs to read the AP article on the front page of msn.com. The DNC has about 20.3 million dollars on hand, which, when combined with Senator Obama's 72 million dollars brings the total to 92.3 million dollars. The RNC seems to have about 95 million dollars. And I would like to know why Senator Obama's May contributions of 21.9 million dollars is considered "sluggish" while Senator McCain's June take of about 22 million dollars in considered the best of the year. It would be nice if Mr. Mosk and other WaPo writers could be more objective in their reporting.

Bottom line, Obama outraised McCain by $30 million. And that's without bitter HRC supporters, who are too busy bailing out their $20 million-in-debt heroine to give to defeating the Republican. And lest anyone forgets, the RNC has a few problems besides McCain to deal with, so it's not like McCain's getting all of the RNC's cash.

I read somewhere that this race, fundamentally, is not close -- this was BEFORE HRC dropped out -- but the press would play it like it was. That analysis is proving out. There's not one Obama report that doesn't contain cautionary news. He's a lucky guy (or more probably, he once again accurately read the situation, like he did with Iraq) -- he ran against the Dem with the highest negatives in America, and he's drawn a Republican Republicans don't even like in a year when the public is rejecting everything GOP. He is going to win in a cakewalk. Like it or not.

if mccain and the RNC have over 90 million on hand, and obama and the DNC have only 72 million on hand, why is it that obama is opening 15 staff offices in virginia and missouri and indiana, etc., where mccain reportedly has zero staff offices in indiana and much fewer than obama in the other states? is that because the RNC is not planning to use most of its cash on McCain, but instead on congressional and gubernatorial elections? someone please explain.

From http://nohillaryvp.blogspot.com/

Is Hillary's public support of Barack sincere?

A new poll in California reinforces the message that Barack doesn't need Hillary as his Vice-Presidential nominee. An analysis of the Field poll suggests "[a]mong Democratic voters, Hillary Clinton's presence on the ticket doesn't seem to make much of a difference. Only one in 10 say they're concerned about whether she's chosen to run as vice president." This is a state she won easily in the primary. If this isn't evidence the "pick Hillary or else" crowd is vocal but small, I don't know what is.

Several pro-Clinton blogs are crowing about a supposed canvassing of superdelegates that revealed eight who committed to Barack would vote for Hillary in a roll call vote. This appears to be wishful thinking, but even if true, she'd need plenty more to switch to seriously threaten Barack's nomination.

More than likely, this really part of a campaign to force Barack to make Hillary his "co-President" although her official title would be Vice-President. An Op-Ed in the London Guardian hit the nail on the head with the question "will Hillary and her sulking supporters successfully blackmail Obama into choosing Hillary as his running mate?" The media in this country have not really picked on the shenanigans of Hillary's supporters nor have they focused on the glaring gap between Hillary's sucking up to Barack in public and what is apparently going on behind the scenes. Hillary has only "suspended" her campaign. Traditionally when a candidate drops out and endorses the front runner, they release their delegates but Hillary has not done so. Suspending her campaign has also allowed standing to rise by keeping her out of the limelight. Once Hillary dropped out of the race, her negative press coverage ended and even many journalists who had been critical started singing their praise of Hillary. At the same time, Barack faced continued media exposure and had to make some tough decisions. I happen to think Barack voted correctly on the final FISA bill, others don't but it is clear the easy vote for a Democrat was "no." Hillary almost certainly would have voted for passage had she been the nominee but knowing the bill was going to pass and free from the burden of being the nominee she took the easy path in an attempt to burnish her credentials with progressives who opposed her and voted in the negative. Naturally, there is some second-guessing about Obama and while Hillary publicly butters up Barack, the implicit message is "hey, I'm still available."

When is the press going to pick up on Hillary's game?
