McCain Outspent Obama in June
By Matthew Mosk
Republican Sen. John McCain outspent his Democratic rival in June, according to reports the two campaigns filed with the Federal Election Commission in recent days.
McCain spent $27 million in June while Obama, who filed his latest campaign numbers late last night, spent $25.6 million.
The spending came as Obama widened his financial advantage over McCain, bringing in more than $54 million during his second best fundraising month of the campaign. McCain raised $22.2 million during the same period.
While Obama's spending in June remained relatively steady from the prior month, McCain more than doubled his expenditures from May, a signal he was making major new investments to build the foundation of a national campaign.
