Clinton: GOP Should Apologize to America

By Perry Bacon Jr.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has a new stump speech. In Chicago Saturday for the American Federation of Teachers conference, Clinton praised Sen. Barack Obama, used humor to poke at President Bush, Sen. John McCain and the GOP, and sounded wistful about her own presidential run.

Obama was also in Chicago on Saturday, and addressed the conference by satellite today. But Clinton, who received the AFT's backing during the primary, appeared in Obama's hometown yesterday to speak highly of her former rival before an audience of her supporters.

"I can't wait to see Barack raise his hand, take that oath of office and get to work," she told several thousand educators at the conference.

And she jabbed at the Republicans, using a line that drew such applause when Clinton used it earlier this week in New York that Obama borrowed it when he spoke at an event without Clinton on Thursday in Virginia.

"Our president goes to Japan four months before the election that will finally show him the door and says he's going to take global warming seriously," Clinton said. "Then as he's leaving the G-8 conference, says to people around him, 'Goodbye from the biggest polluter world in the world.' You've got to ask yourself, how did this happen to our country?"

Clinton said the last eight years had many "highlights."

"A vice-president who shoots somebody in the face, you couldn't make that up," Clinton said to laughter.

She added, "the Republicans should hold a press conference and apologize to the country and say they're just not going to run anyone for president."

Clinton said little about education policy, a subject that most Democrats largely agree on -- most want more funding for education and some adjusting of the standards of the No Child Left Behind law so that fewer schools are deemed "failing." although Obama has not made the issue a focus of his campaign.

"It feels a bit like a family reunion because I saw you across America," Clinton said, noting many of the members had campaigned for her in a variety of primary states.

You people obviously dont understand economics. Especially with oil its all based of speculation. Trading the same barel of oil sometimes up to 100 times before it is even used. If the US even said it was for sure going to start drilling the price would drop that day and steadly go down because the other companys would have more oil to sell and cheaper just to get rid of it...

Jen, let me help you with that question:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Killed_the_Electric_Car%3F

Now tell me, Jen, what would have happened if oil barrens were not in the White House? How would that have reduced demand for oil, which would have lowered the price and reduced our dependency on middle eastern countries?

Republicans have a one track mind: drill for more oil. The thought of switching to something that doesn't consume more oil is unimaginable to them.

That's right, Jen, the Republican policies which have clearly killed alternative and more efficient energy sources will have an effect for far into the future. That's exactly right. BTW Jen, I have a question for you: Who killed the electric car?

LOL at all the stupid republicans who think off shore drilling and ANWAR will solve the problems at the pump. Don't you people know that the benefits from off shore drilling won't have any affect until like 2019? Since you didn't know that, you also wouldn't know that any affect they had would be insignificant. Off shore drilling and ANWAR are just another excuse to give more money to the oil companies.

How many times do you have to get lied to about oil before you start to realize you are being lied to? Any reasonable person figured it out after we invaded Iraq.

Now we have a very inexperienced flip flop candidate with any chance of winning dwindling daily. Thanks Super Delegates for your smart and super vote. You doomed the Democrats. We were already in trouble. Pelosi and the Dems have done nothing. And when they have, they agreed with the Republicans! And that includes Obama and FISA. This is all a big joke! yes, that's right, that's what the Republicans have done to our economy. They have scratched the backs of the big oil companies as the big oil companies have scratched the backs of the Republicans. In the mean time, the rest of the world is developing efficient alternative energy and we're falling behind. Nowadays, even China has more efficient vehicle standards than the United States. The bottom line is that Republicans have absolutely eliminated any step towards getting us away from oil and using more efficient energy sources. One more thing on this discussion, it isn't just the price of gas and thelack of the Dems to do anything but tax somebody.

In our area...New England...some of my neighbors have locked in on their heating fuel...at $5.80 a gallon. This is going to kill alot of families bugets...in a matter of a couple of months.

We cannot afford that price...not for the whole winter. It is going to be quite cold here.

I haven't heard anything from the DEMS to try and address this issue in a realistic way.

Posted by: Jen | July 15, 2008 12:57 AM | Report abuse

Yes, "Let's get a few facts straight about the price of gasoline".

In 01 we had 9/11 happen and then the start of the War on Terror with Al Qaida and the Taliban, the build up to and start of the Iraqi war and the continued fight against terrorism...all of them pre 2006 and the election; all of them proclaimed by the Liberal Dems as cause to the rising price of oil and gasoline, and why we should put them in control.

Still the price of oil and gasoline was fairly consistant with the price of inflation.

Weak dollar, I agree is another factor and I spoke of that, especially because oil is traded in US dollars. Yet you claim it is Bush's economic plan.

No, in order to get funding for the war, the Dems added billions of dollars to war funding that had nothing to do with the war, and Bush signed it because the millitary needed the funds that Congress was holding up. Creating a new buearacracy in the latest war bill for education benefits for the military. Selling it as needed for the Vetrans...well why didn't they include that in the defense bill (where it actually belongs). This is just one, I have scores of them, but not the time to pull them up, right now.

They are guilty of rising deficits...check out the latest Farm Bill. Pelosi and Reid made sure that everyone got something in it so they could get the votes to pass it. A Farm bill that is going to cost us hundreds of billions of dollars, by their accounts...not mine. Raising the price of a bushell of corn to over $6.00, as the pay out for subsidies if the market falls below that price...prior to that it was about $3.00 a bushell. Allowing a couple to earn up to $1.5 million dollars and still recieve a direct subsidy of up to $120,000 (that's a 100 x's the paltry economic stimulus check my husband and I got this year). BTW, that direct subsidy is in addition to the first subsidy I spoke of.

The latest spending bill carried with it the 2nd largest earmark spending in the history of Congress....this after the Dems ran on cutting back on earmarks...by I believe 50%...they didn't come close, I believe it was over 12,000 earmarks, it's late here.

Supply and demand. Well with the way the world is going, economies increasing...demand has run up...supply has to increase. Just cutting back on demand will not drop the price of oil, nor increase our economy. Currently oil and gas are the life blood of all economies. You don't put a tourniquet on an injured limb, unless it is a last resort to stem bleeding, the damage done can be irreversible. Cutting off our supply of fossil fuels, just to appease environmentalis and GW Alarmist is not justified to decreasing our demand. Hurting the US economy to save face with the global world is not justifiable. We are not contributing to any climate change...that's for another post, another time, when I have the time to get the info out.

I've looked at the different bills being offered up in Congress...and I will tell you one thing...the Dem proposals have nothing to do with increasing our oil supply one iota. They all consist of punishing Big Oil, blaming the speculators, blaming Americans, etc. Any increase in tax, any more tax cuts, any robbing Peter to pay Paul will come back to you and me paying for it.

Accusing the oil companies for sitting on 68 million acres in oil leases is bunk. They claim that the oil companies have 44 million acres in off shore leases and only working 10 million acres. What they don't tell you is that in April of this year 30 million of the 44 million acres was auctioned off...and it takes about 2 months for the companies to actually receive those leases after the auction, then the permit request, environmental studies, etc. So, no, Big Oil isn't sitting on the off shore leases. They claim that the environmental lawsuits are not correct...that once the leases are auctioned off there are no legal issues. June 20, 2008 there was an AP article (I have since found many more lawsuits like this)concerning Shell receiving a permit from the EPA to drill in Alaska on 179 leases they hold (I don't know the acreage total). The article goes on to say that Shell still could not drill on those leases, as they had about 12 more permits to get, but the kicker is that they have been waiting on a decision from the 9th Circuit Dist. Court (you know the wacky liberal one in CA that all the environmentalist go to fill their lawsuits), on whether they could drill at all...and they had been waiting for over a year on the decision. They have spent over $80 million in the leases, plus $200 million more to get the oil we need. Sitting on them...I don't think so.

I'll tell you one thing...the govt. has failed miserable, they stick their noses in the business of the people, they mandate ethanol (which gives you less mpg and cost more, I am now baking my own bread, as I refuse to pay $3.00+ for a loaf), they point fingers at each other and everyone else, yet refuse to look at themselves and what they've done.

You can't tax our way out of this problem...or any problem...unfortunately that is all the Dems offer us....from Obama right down to your local House Rep. I am not being flip about any of what I said. I do the research, I read alot of the Congressional record, I've seen what they have done and the tactics they have played in the House and Senate.

I have nothing to do with the oil industry, I am a grandmother wanting the best country for my 5 grandchildren. I cannot agree with you that voting for Obama, voting for the Dems will give my grandchildren the best country. Watch for what you wish for...change...it is not always good for you...especially when it will cost you more than you bargained for.

A true energy program needs to include drilling for more oil(not all leases will take 10 yrs to be up and running...I have found some that were completed in less than four yrs). Increasing our energy INDEPENDENCE, finding other means of energy, BUT they have to be cost effective, reliable, and efficent. Introduced gradually, allowing Americans to be able to make their own choice.

I live 6 miles from the nearest store, I live in a very rural area, on back winding roads, with snowy winters. I want and need a vehicle that has weight to it, four wheel drive, and will protect my family if in a crash. Fuel effiecent vehicles might save $$ on gas, but are horrific in crashes. Plus, they do not do well in snow. When you live in a town that cuts their rising expenses, you have to rely on yourself and know that the roads won't be plowed until the storm is over or almost over. At my age I am not about to walk to the grocery store that is 6 miles away.

There is a lot of ignorance in the postings below. Let's get a few facts straight about the price of gasoline.

Middle east instability causes higher oil prices which causes higher gas prices. There is no doubt in the world that Bush is to blame for this: starting a war with Iraq and threats against Iran rather than diplomacy.

What also causes higher oil prices is a weak dollar, which is a result of the Bush economic policy. Republicans like to tell us that deficits don't matter. Yet it is widely known that outrageous deficits and spending cause the dollar to fall which causes oil prices to rise. So you can blame Bush's team again for higher oil prices here.

Finally, there are two realistic approaches to cutting down the cost of gasoline: (1) increasing supply and (2) reducing demand. If you listen to Republicans, they try to paint the picture of needing to drill for more oil in environmentally sensitive areas as the only solution. That's because they're afraid to acknowledge that they fought very hard AGAINST (2). The Bush administration has rewound energy efficiency standards and tried hard to prevent states like California from demanding higher vehicle standards. Now why would they do such a thing? The answer is obvious: Bush comes from the oil industry and the oil industry is the biggest funder of the Republican party.

This election people have a choice, between supporting the big oil policies that the Republicans have pushed on us for the last 8 years, or the choice of going another direction which benefits the people rather than the Exxon's and Enron's. What will your choice be? Big oil or change? I know mine.

Posted by: Robert Fial | July 14, 2008 9:00 PM | Report abuse

Man, talk about a bunch of brainwashed idiots.

You blame the Republicans for everything...well here some facts:

Gasoline was $2.33 per gallon in Jan 07 per the EIA. Then Pelosi and Reid came in with their "Commonsense plan to lower gas prices" The Dem House immediately went into their "100 Hours". On the agenda was to repeal tax breaks to American oil companies. Tax breaks that were given to large manufacturing and industry companies.

Over the course of the year the battle was on...in Dec 07 the Dems won and the Clean Air Act was passed with these cuts. Gasoline in Jan 08 was $3.04 per the EIA...today the av. is $4.11. Do you like the $1.78 more you are paying (remember in Jan 07 it was $2.33)...in just a yr and a half of Dem control?

We the American people are now paying for those tax break cuts...Thank Pelosi and company for that. Oh and just so you know...in Jan 01 gasoline was going for $1.45. In the 6 years that Bush and Republicans were in control we saw $0.88 increase total, comes out to about $0.14 per year.

The green groups who support the Democratic party with 91% of campaign contibutions have caused more pain for the America people with their demands that we not drill, use "renewable"...nobody looked at the consequences of their actions...just marched to the tune of their campaign money. Food is fuel for the body...period!

The Dems were going to cut back on wasteful spending, yet tacked onto every bill funding that was not needed....raising the costs of needed bills by billions in each bill. Now our dollar is worth crap.

You have Dems in control of Banking...writing a bill to protect Countrywide...funny those Dems have mortgages from Countrywide...with special deals...but you claim the Dems are not corrupt...they are as corrupt as anyone else!

Yeah vote Democrat and watch our country sink to third world levels.

You can spin this anyway you want, but those are the facts...you can't change them.

You, and those like you, democrats who would squander this opportunity for a progressive agenda (one almost identical to HRC's of course) to "hold your nose" and vote a protest vote: if-only's don't cut it in a competition... The losing team that claims the underdog team shouldn't have won is usually called a "poor sport." If BO is so inexperienced, how did he over-take the front-runner with years of political connections and capital and manage to be the only candidate running of the three to have a financially profitable campaign (rather than huge debt like Clinton and McCain)? How did he manage to out-organize the HRC campaign by not neglecting the caucus states? Even some of HRC's supporters acknowledge now that there were clear strategic errors in her management of her campaign that had nothing to do with sexism or BO somehow "stealing" the nomination from her. Why are HRC supporters not saying their "if onlys" about HRC's campaign strategies? If only she'd focused on caucus states; if only she'd planned to run after Super Tuesday; if only she'd kept Bill on the sidelines; if only she'd not chosen Mark Penn as her chief strategist... I'm sure she's re-visiting those decisions because there was every reason to believe and every favorable condition that she would win the nomination at the beginning of the primary season.

Both Obama and Clinton are strong candidates and democrats should be proud that our party put forth a female and African-American candidates who are pro-universal health care, pro-choice, want to end the war, and pro-middle class families. Stop being poor sports and do what's right for the country - do you really believe John McCain will bring people into his administration that reflect your values? The president is only the leader that sets the tone and agenda - the people they put around them are crucial to how our country goes forward. If people haven't learned that from this administration, they haven't been paying attention. Whatever "inexperience" Obama has, I believe he will surround himself with good people.

What will HRC supporters who are threatening to vote McCain or not vote do if HRC is in line to have a key role in the administration? How will voting for McCain help HRC's agenda in the Senate if we have a split executive/legislative branch again? Think. At the same time that I write this, I realize I'm wasting my breath, because it's emotional for those like American Voter, not rational.

The primary was reduced to a numbers game and Hillary was sabotaged by the party's fringe left. Hillary Clinton remains my choice for President in 2012- this November, I will hold my nose and vote for John McCain

Obama needs to apologize and hand over to Clinton. Had his Wright dealings been know before the first 11 primaries, she would have won. It was nip and tuck after that.

howlless is right on this one. WHO, exactly, owes the apology?

The Onion put it perfectly, in their January 17, 2001, edition when they ran the headline --

"Bush: 'Our Long National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity Is Finally Over'"

Who's sorry now?

"The Clintons Should Apologize to America!"???

Yeah, that would go something like:

Dear America. Sorry we created 20 million new jobs, cut taxes for millions of working Americans, ended Welfare, guaranteed national family leave, doubled the stock market, turned record budget deficits into surpluses, successfully resolved the Bosnian genocide and and left with our national reputation at an all-time high around the world.

Our sincerest apologies for our competence.

No apology needed, just keep the candidate's head down: Huma's Jeddah jihadis, Broadbase Betty's Snit Brigade and the husband's Arkansas State Police sharpshooters ("Us'n don't nivver miss") are itching for that "Vince Foster" moment.

Too many news media and TV analysts show a lack of knowledge of basic civics when they say, without qualification, that THE DEMOCRATS CONTROL THE CONGRESS. This wrong information misleads the public and falsely raises expectations.

Until the Democrats have a VETO proof majority in the SENATE and have a SENATE majority sufficient to PREVENT A FILABUSTER, they ULTIMATELY control very little. Remember the Republicans SIMULTANEOUSLY controlled BOTH THE PRESIDENCY AND THE CONGRESS FOR OVER SIX YEARS. Look at the messes!! If the voters expect fairness to them, they need, in fairness, to give the Democrats THAT SAME CONTROL if they can expect real and postive changes. While untying the hands of the Demcrats via this majority they will need to effect change is no guarantee, not doing so WILL GUARANTEE tying their hands.

IF you can call thumbing your nose at the world over global warming for seven years, starting a war on fictitious information, running us into the financial ditch, and stopping every initiative in Congress that might have done us some good here at home the work of anyone interested in progress for this nation, you have a severely different look at the world than the rest of us. This administration will go down as the worst in our history and the GOP is likely to go down right behind it when it gets behind McCain.

The country agreed with this administration for the 1st four years, and only after the media began to bang away, unjustly I might add, did the DO NOTHING Democrats gain office at midterm. It's the same kind of thing as when GOP members pepper their speaches with the word "liberal", they don't think they're going to turn swing voters, but it reminds their base of the ideological differences. The Bush administration has created a lot of undecided voters, so both McCain and Obama are going to have to run hard to the middle in order to win, meaning that this kind of trash talking will be needed in order to get the base on side. Hill was just indulging in some campaign rhetoric. Fact of the matter is, while you've got the Repubs up there apologizing, you'd better send Bill Clinton up on stage too. Some of the most damaging deregulation came on his watch.

Pretty much the entire Congress, Democrats and Republicans alike, should apologize, and then resign. Anybody who voted for telecomm immunity, the military commissions act, or other prima facie unconstitutional statutes should certainly apologize for breaking their oath of office, and then resign. Nancy Pelosi should lead the way for failure to discharge her constitutional duty to impeach the Vice President and President.

Republicans should not snicker at the "Democratic" Congress' low number in the polls. The main reason it's so low is failure by the Congress to pull the "Unitary Executive" up short and bash it alongside the head.

We support Barack Obama! Right now all the polls indicate that this will be a close race in November between Obama and McCain. Right now some of us have come to Hillary's defense because she is a part of the Democrat Family. Sooner or later, We all have to move on. I did find this on the Internet.

"They say that blood is thicker than water. Maybe that's why we battle our own with more energy and gusto than we would ever expend on strangers."

A number of us have been posting since January 2007. We were there defending all of them Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Bill Richardson, Joe Biden, Christopher Dodd, Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel from any Republican attacks. It seems like only yesterday.

So We have seen this race unfold in a amazing way. Barack Obama won us over by sticking to the issues that mattered to us, the Economy, Health Care and the Iraq War. He don't go negative even when the kitchen sink and the 3am ad were thrown at him. Some memorable endorsements come to mind that inspired us all, the Robert De Niro endorsement followed by Ted Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy and Barack Obama joining him on stage. Anther endorsement that comes to mind was Bruce Springsteen when Obama really needed help. Also conservative Democrat artist John Mellencamp, as well as the following artists Melissa Eldridge, the "Yes We Can" Barack Obama music video endorsement by will.i.am and friends, Bob Dylan, Moby, Chris Martin of Coldplay,Charlize Theron, George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, Matt Damon, Alica Keys, Russell Simmons, Sheryl Crow and Jay-Z also come to mind. For us in the Native American Art community it would be Larry McNeil, Raquel Chapa, Bunky Echo-Hawk, Pura Fe, Soni Moreno of Ulai as well as myself. Yes in many ways it was the artists who were one of the first to support Obama even during the rough stretches of this campaign. Artist endorsements do count! Hopefully we helped.

Right now this is the opening rounds of the General Election. John McCain's team have kept their man within striking range of Obama! Latest polls show both are even. During these opening rounds of the general election some of us wanted to show our support for Obama and the Democrats before the Olympics before everyone including myself tunes out politics. Perhaps the Olympics will be good for the country as well as our favorite talk show pundits. But we know whats coming in August from the other side. In the fall, after both Conventions more Americans will be focusing on the race, the pace will pick up and then the last two weeks will seem like a blur. The last 48 hours will be even faster.

Obama supporters respect John McCain and his honorable service to this country. We also have come to respect some of his supporters posting on the blogs who also didn't go negative. You won't see this Obama supporter and my friends go negative on John McCain. Just as we didn't go negative on Hillary. We do want change like most Americans. Change means everyone working together, Democrats, Republicans and Independents. We believe Barack Obama can unify all of us. I like what Bruce Springsteen said in endorsing Barack Obama -

"He speaks to the America I've envisioned in my music for the past 35 years, a generous nation with a citizenry willing to tackle nuanced and complex problems, a country that's interested in its collective destiny and in the potential of its gathered spirit. A place where '...nobody crowds you, and nobody goes it alone.' " Bruce Springsteen

Plus, the most qualified people on the "short list" that the Obama campaign floated earlier this year have already made it clear that they won't run as VP if asked. That includes Rendell and Strickland.

Just about the only ticket Obama can top this year looks like it will be a ticket of shallow narcissists, under-qualified left-wingers. It will the under-qualified lightweights against the trusty old Republican ticket. With bank failures and military issues this year, the Obama-topped ticket will be a hard sell.

The only compelling voice the guy has come up with in weeks has been his knowing lectures of absentee black daddies. The nation, quite frankly, in the next few years will need a President with a whole lot more experience in more executive areas of talent than what kind of lectures to give black ghetto daddies.

CNN and absolute truth?

Seems a little naive, far-fetched, to take CNN as a neutral economic observer. I would be more impressed if DW, BBC, CBC or any major foreign new agency bestowed these high honors on US ingenuity.

Look at the US automobile sector. Toyota saw the gas price coming & they are building Toyota Hybrid, Version IV compared to what in Detroit? US auto-designers saw what coming? More foreign oil perhaps? Now thousands of GM, Ford, Chrysler layoffs & families ruined. What does CNN then say about the US auto sector?

Pretty slow on the draw say the Japanese, Koreans or Germans. Too slow to react will lead to Chinese & Indian cars on US roads in 2,3 yrs.

"If Obama wins, he WILL have to deal with Iraq, and the reality - not the hallowed Dem position now - at the time."

True, you are entirely correct: Obama, as a possible President, would have to "deal with "this unfinished, one-sided war - sadly, I doubt that the dying there will screech to a halt November 08.

Only US Houses (Senate & HoR) declared war. Irak never declared war on the US. It's time to recognize this mistake & undeclare war.

Obama would have to find an honorable way to find an end to this one-sided war, to establish some peace or at least a cease-fire - Nixon did with Vietnam, Truman with the III. Reich. After war, comes peace...and the economy needs his full attention.

Obama didn't initiate the arguments that war must ensue. That was Bush, Powell, Rice, Rumsfeld, Rove & all the other members of their coterie. Obama will have to extricate the US military from Irak, bring home all troops to their barracks & families, to heal, to stand on guard. To me, the military should get off Irak's foreign soil. We don't belong there, no more than in Vietnam, in Afghanistan or in Germany.

Bush came with a very, very simple political plan: bang everyone's head until they yell uncle, not just any "uncle", it had to be a Made-in-USA uncle.

Irak had an advanced civilization long before many other nations, when Europe was still green pasture land & America north to south, spoke only Indian languages. Am certain that a majority of Irakis today would welcome peace, just to be left alone.

There's an expression, "after 3 days all fish stink & so so guests".

We deserve an apology from the GOP and deserve pink slips for democrats. What do they intend to do? More taxes. More spending. Weaker defense. Spanish as second language. Open borders for all. Death to babies. Socialized medicine for all (except the really wealthy and politicians). Disarm the responsible. Democrats...open your eyes. You are capable of more than what the government will "give" you. Just got to want it enough....

Just for perspective -

When Saddam was still in power, he was shooting routinely at our pilots trying to enforce the No-Fly zones.

Meanwhile he was still able to decimate the Shiite population and turn their historic wetlands into desolate salt flats.

Saddam's subhuman offspring were terrorizing the locals, especially young women, while being groomed to take on the old man's place.

The Oil-for-Food farce was enriching Saddam while the corrupt and feckless UN looked the other way.

EVERY DEM NABOB, including Bubba, Hildebeast, and Kerry believed Saddam was pursuing WMD and THEY ALL cried out that SOMETHING HAD TO BE DONE about Saddam. Remember that?

Just for perspective.

It seems the Iraqis have had enough of your "success" and "improvement", and want to see US troops out soonest.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/12/AR2008071201915.html?hpid=topnews

Bush's effort to negotiate a status of forces agreement in Iraq has flopped. He's not going to get what he wanted from this war.

It's a total failure from every perspective. What's been achieved? Saving the world from Iraqi WMD?

The Republican party owes the whole world an apology for invading Iraq. So do plenty of Democrats, for that matter. Including a certain Mrs Clinton.

But at least Democrats aren't stupid enough to compound (or repeat) the error.

"If Obama continues to keep his head stuck in the sand like you..." I recall Obama voted contra while Bush & HRC voted pro war. I would disgree that Irak "is going well".

Whats been achieved, at what cost to life? To US life & Iraki life? The damage to the US reputation will follow 2-3 generations of young Americans, war-mongers,fragmentation bombs, Guantamemo torture rooms, US torture & in international secret/hidden CIA-financed dungeons. Just like the 10 yr Russian butchery in Afghanistan, the US will have to leave with its tail between its legs. 140T soldiers & 6 yrs of warfare & (please explain) just who is our enemy again? Who are we fighting?

Iraks war, in fact, has broken the US economy from head to toe. We can only "war on" by borrowing foreign money & oil from other nations. The entire world calls this US war a tragedy - just listen to news media in other countries: the mightiest military nation beating up a 3rd or 4th rate desert country - with no end in sight? Seems pretty pitiful to me.

"Hillary's class ..."

Remember her sliming ANY woman who dared to expose BubbaJeff's sexual predations?

Remember the sniper fire whopper?

Remember the "I was named after Sir Edmund Hillary" whopper?

Or "I've ALWAYS been a Yankee fan!"

Remember - "Gee, those Rose Law Firm files just MAGICALLY TURNED UP one day!"

Remember - Jerry Zeifman, a lifelong Democrat, supervised the work of 27-year-old Hillary Rodham on the committee. Hillary got a job working on the investigation at the behest of her former law professor, Burke Marshall, who was also Sen. Ted Kennedy's chief counsel in the Chappaquiddick affair. When the investigation was over, Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation - one of only three people who earned that dubious distinction in Zeifman's 17-year career.

Why?

"Because she was a liar," Zeifman said in an interview last week. "She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality."

Remember "No, Obama isn't a Moslem, AS FAR AS I KNOW."

Remember Bubba pardoning PR terrorists to help Hildebeast get the PR vote in NYC?

Both of the Clintons are scum personified.

That's a blatant LIE!! Bill nor Hillary said anything racist!

It REALLY DID take Pres. Johnson to implement Dr. King's goals. But to Obamabots, that HISTORICAL comment was "racist."

Jesse Jackson REALLY DID win SC twice - but not the nomination. But to Obamabots, that HISTORICAL comment was "racist."
Oh - and the media omitted most of THAT Clinton remark - especially the part about him praising Obama.
Even Jesse Jackson said there was nothing wrong with the comment.

Robert Kennedy REALLY WAS assassinated during the 1968 Dem Primary in JUNE! But to Obamabots - that HISTORICAL remark was inappropriate.
And according to them and Obamedia - Hillary wanted Obama ASSASSINATED!!

Just a few reasons why this Dem family will NEVER vote for Oblahma!

Now that we are beginning to see that Obama is not a Democrat, but closer to Bush in his thinking (FISA spying, death penalty expansion, a gun in every hand, border fences, new restrictions on right to choose, etc) . . .

It seems like it may not be too late for the Democrats to nominate Hillary Clinton for president. Neither candidate has enough delegates to win on the first ballot. And the super delegates don't actually cast their ballots until there is a deadlock at the convention in Denver. Several hundred super delegates have pledged to vote for Obama (hence making him the "presumptive" nominee), but they -- as well as any or all of the other "pledged" delegates are free to change their vote up until the very moment it is cast.

And the first thing the Clintons would do when they're back in the WH is to break out their ENEMIES LIST and go to work. They know power. How to use it, how to abuse it, and how to abuse people. Bill is warm and fuzzy. Hillary, not so much.

The Republicans would be crushed.

John McCain has ramped up his fake-populist rhetoric recently, saying that helping the people who are struggling to pay their mortgages, fill their gas tanks, and put food on the table will be his "first priority in setting the economic policies of this nation." [johnmccain.com, accessed 4/17/08]

Yet at the same time, McCain has said that some of the problems families are facing are "psychological." In fact, according to McCain himself, his proposal to suspend the gas tax this summer--one of the main focal points of his new economic plan--is nothing more than "a little psychological boost." Hillary is right...the Republicans have become tools.

There seems to be considerable and growing evidence that the November 2008 elections will be a landslide sweep for Democrats up and down the ticket and across the nation. The most recent national polls (e.g., NBC/WSJ) show him widening his lead over McCain across nearly every demographic category - including especially -- 61% of those who identify themselves as having voted for Hillary in the Primaries.

The broad midsection of the American political spectrum (including millions of folks who have not voted in years) seems to have passed the tipping point about who is responsible for the disaster befallen our nation. The Republican mismanagement of George W. Bush's misdirected domestic and foreign policies has placed our nation's economy at serious risk: VERY serious risk.

Bush policies and his attempt to impose an "American style" democracy on a Middle East country after removing its leader by force --has cost America its legitimacy as a world leader. This has resulted in our sharply diminished capacity to leverage the price of oil and control the value of the American dollar. A weaker dollar raises the price of oil, and that impacts our foreign markets - our trade imbalance is getting much worse.

What's more, our friends have lost faith in the U.S.A. Bush has run roughshod over American interests here and abroad to impose his highly suspect worldview on both the American people and those countries that we have long counted as our allies.

Republicans are deserting their Party's "brand name" and lining up to sweep the entire party's slate of national and state candidates into the dustbin. And, Independent voters are turning their backs on the GOP. National Security starts at home with a strong economy.

The story across this summer will be the national outrage at what the Republicans have done to our economy.

Events are overtaking the national dialogue about race and gender -- we are Americans first and we have started doing something about the attack on our national wellbeing.

All Republicans must go---all must be pushed from their seats of power -- and cast aside in 2008. Every single Republican candidate must be held accountable for their support of the Bush Presidency and its horrendous impact on our nation.

From Maine to Hawaii --- Republicans must be defeated so that we can restore our American priorities and American values. They had their chance -they chose to support Bush - they chose to borrow, borrow, borrow and then -spend and spend and spend -- now they must pay.

The Republican of today is an indefensible talking point repeating polarizer of nations, which in my mind no longer deserves quarter.

GOPer's can do America a favor:....load it; put it to your face, then press.....or stay at home in the next election.....or vote for the Democrats.......either way....I won't miss you.

FUTURE NEWS SYNDICATE

Lost Tribe Of Hillary Holdouts Found

- BREAKING NEWS -

The first contact in several years with remnants of a holdout band of Hillary Clinton supporters took place yesterday, with a helicopter flyover identifying the handful of survivors. Unwilling to concede that the 2008 Democratic presidential primary had been fairly conducted, the hardy but dwindling tribe became increasingly isolated during the Obama/Leahy administrations, eschewing television and rumored to be surviving only on moss, pant suit juice and the occasional squirrel.

Following the merger of the Republican and Democratic Parties and repeal of the 22nd Amendment in 2015 which allowed Beloved Leader Obama's election to a third term by an unprecedented Electoral College vote of 538 - 0, the tribe disappeared and has not been heard from for several years. Until this sighting, the continued existence of the "Hillarians" was doubted and their story had passed into the realm of urban legend.

The Democrats would be wise to throw Obama under the crowded bus and nominate Hillary! The actual vote on the nomination takes place in late August in Denver at the DNC convention.

DNC, open up the convention to a real democratic process, put Hillary's name in nomination, allow her supporters to speak and make their case for her, have a real ballot, with real votes and (gasp) actually COUNT ALL THE VOTES!

It would be fantastic and guarantee high ratings and real excitement! Let's do it!
