Clinton Loaned Self Another $1 Million After Leaving Race

By Matthew Mosk
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's debt to her vendors grew in June, according to a federal filing tonight to the Federal Election Commission, and the New York Democrat reported loaning herself an additional $1 million after leaving the campaign trail.

Clinton raised just $2.7 million in June and finished the month with $25.2 million in campaign debt, most of that, $13.175 million, owed to Clinton herself, according to her report to the FEC. She has said she will seek to repay the campaign's debts to others before paying herself back. Campaign vendors awaiting payment included the firm of strategist Mark Penn, owed $5.3 million, and the Dewey Square Group, owed $236,000.

The campaign also owed local firms in states such as Pennsylvania and Indiana, where Clinton fought in late, competitive primaries. She owed nearly $1,800 to Kokomo Center Schools in Indiana, for instance, and nearly $6,000 to Dakota Pizza in Wynnwood, Pa.

Ranking Member Specter:

You are scaring me.

and Members of the Committee:

Not in jail yet? Ha! Okay, some water please, with a touch of lemon.

thank you for the opportunity to discuss the Department of Justice's efforts to protect intellectual property rights through criminal enforcement.

First, we do not believe IP exists.

As America continues its transformation into an information and innovation based economy, the protection of America's creative assets is a top priority of the Department of Justice.

>

Intellectual property embodies America's cultural heritage, consumer confidence and trust in brands for products ranging from prescription medicines to spark plugs, and most of the assets of our vibrant information industries.

Second, our cultural heritage included running away because we couldn't get along with our parents. Just like we are doing now. If someone steals an idea, you really think they belong in prison? What if they like the idea? How can you own an idea? You can't. The enforcement of IP is a good ol' boy network with Mr. Bush at the helm.

As the Committee knows, the majority of the enforcement regime for protecting these intellectual property assets is now and has traditionally been civil.

Step down. Third, is this a crime? Responding to your thoughts. When I hit the period, it's mine. Tick, tock, gunshot! Booya

However, with the advent of new technologies, a global supply chain economy, and the increased involvement of transnational criminal organizations, criminal enforcement is now more important than ever in protecting intellectual property rights.

I am complaining, but the job being done at this moment is probably 99.37% perfect.

Today, the Department is dedicating more energy and resources than ever before to the protection of U.S. intellectual property rights, with a particular emphasis on health and safety crimes and organized criminal syndicates.

What about the rights of catholic priests?

The Department has been an integral part of President Bush's Strategy Targeting Organized Piracy, or "STOP", initiative.

I thought he was at the helm of a battleship, not a pirate ship. yuck yuck yuck. (laughter)

This initiative involves government officials, local and national law enforcement, small businesses, and international partners in a coordinated and aggressive strategy to fight global intellectual property crime.

Isn't it easier to just say, we are looking for reasons for increased tensions with China?

Under the umbrella of the STOP initiative and the Department of Justice's Task Force on Intellectual Nice Job!!

First, we were allowed to have slaves as a nation.

Second, we changed our minds. A war was fought. And new rules were established.

Third, we can change our minds again.

Fourth, white people lived in Idaho in the mid 1800's. Since we were not a state, their views were not considered. Sometimes it only takes one person to change everyone's views. Think of the brave student who talked to the tank driver in Tiennimen Square.

Fifth, a modern slave does not have to perform physical labor.

Sixth, a slave is defined as a beautiful goth girl. Her hair and nails are black. She would paint the White House black. She is divine and sweet. A ghost is in her, and on her. All around her she wants to love and adore.

Seventh, if she wants to do things that I say she can. And I do not have to pay her. I can ask her nicely to wear a collar, and if she so chooses she may.

Eigth, if law enforcement wishes to pursue this matter, they should not look to the 13th amendment for support. That is like pointing to toilet paper.

Ninth, instead a classic girl must approach me. One that likes to spend time and read. Maybe she cooks. She will read magazines and live a proper life. Her animals surround and adore her. Life is so pure.

Tenth, if it's for play then the vast amount of the activity in question is none of the government's concern.

Eleventh, slavery is legal in North Idaho. Slavery is illegal in southern Idaho.

Twelf, not so much nibbling next time.

Barack Obama and Hillary ClintonApril 22, 2008, 2:17
Obama and Clinton trade insults
Democratic candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have been taking swings at each other just hours before polls open in the Pennsylvania primaries. The pair have traded insults in some of the most negative attacks since the beginning of their campaigns to win the party nomination.
Obama said Clinton was trapped in the past.

"When people question her tactics she says: 'well that's what the Republicans will do to Obama.' Look I am not interested in mimicking what the Republicans did to the Clintons over the past 20 years. She learned the wrong lesson - I want to change them not become them," Obama said.

While he branded her a game-player, she said he was all style and no substance. She even mocked his campaign slogan -

"Can we do this? Well, yes we can. But that's not the right question. Will we do this? Yes we will. Yes we will! Yes we will," Clinton said.

The candidates also crisscrossed the state of Pennsylvania trying to win over voters.

Their messages resonated in urban areas. But there is still a part of Pennsylvania that cares little about the race.

Obama wins over the Amish?

People in the heart of Amish county in Pennsylvania believe in separating themselves from the modern world. Horse-drawn carriages are the main mode of transportation. The Amish, a Christian sect, don't use electricity, phones and they don't like to be photographed as it is against their religious beliefs.

And their political views are equally conservative. A typical Amish man, Jack Meyer, says most Amish vote Republican. He says many Amish - like one of his friends - are not fans of Hillary.

"She said we certainly don't want a woman for a president of the United States. And certainly not Hillary," Meyer says.

But if he were to pick a Democrat, Jacks says he would go for Obama.

"He is very a matter-of-fact talking and laid-back. More like the man on the street," Meyer says.

Just days before the Pennsylvania primary, Obama's state-based campaign website posted a page aimed at the Amish. But some called it another 'out-of-touch' move by the Obama campaign and even a possible prank.

However, Nate Bomberger - an Obama volunteer - is say it's a serious effort.

About five Amish showed up for the local Obama rally. They declined to comment on camera but told us they had come out of curiosity.

So it seems that Obama has at least managed to spark some interest in one of the most unlikely demographics in a race so tight that every vote matters.

Psy22 was just murdered in a blogroom about my old school NIC in North Idaho. Hurts. Here's all I could scoop up for now.

This is actually why many of them took up arms against US forces in the first place: not many people know it, but even Saddam used to pay brides to the Sunni tribes to keep them from attacking his oil infrastructure. The CPA stopped the payments, and the tribes started attacking pipelines to get the money flowing again. Instead they got shot, so then they wanted not only their regular extortion money, but also blood money for the people we killed. Thus was the Sunni insurgency born. It ended when we paid them what they wanted.

Yes. I think McCain and Obama are deciding which is better to tell or not to tell. Well TRUMARY... is it really you? Or who are you? Please tell us.

Shouldn't Hillary pay her own debts? Why should anyone help her out in her folly? Besides, she has over $100 million the Clintons hoarded after they left office. Any person of integrity would pay for their own foolish ambition to turn the elections around. But not the Clintons. They are shameless. They would sooner have the poor Obama schmoes pay off her debt than dip into her own deep coffers of influence peddling and NAFTA dollars. Not a dime from me for the harridan who is more republican than a progressive democrat. Why not ask those republican women who will not vote for Obama? You know. Those 18 million who if they each gave a measly $2 could give her extra money to start another bid in 2012. Hopefully by then, the Clintons will be has beens and run out of dirty politics forever.

Poor Hillary!!!! Now, check this out YOU ALL!!! Do you really think Obama needs Billary on his ticket after he is doing so well before going to Iraq, etc.? Now, after going to Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., he is proving himself to America that he can be a Great Commander-in-Chief. So, all you Hillary supporters can forget about it. Obama is NOT putting Hillary on the ticket. He doesn't need her or Bill. He can say when he wins the election, he did it without the Billary's.

I agree with previous comments regarding paying Hillary's debt. 18 million voters for Hillary??? Then YOU ALL can contribute ONLY $1.50 to pay off her debt since you love her so much. Hillary dragged out the Primary to prove a point and where did it get her???? Nowhere!!! But alot of debt. I'm not impressed w/ Hillary at all. She couldn't even control her own campaign; nor could she use her finances in a responsible way. So, how could she be President??? DUH!!!!!!

The US must break its dependence on Arab Oil. Although moderate Arab countries appear to be amicable with the US on the surface, just scratch a little beneath that outward show of friendship, and you will find that they are just as disenchated as the extreemists are, with the fact that the US and Israel are REAl and TRUTHFUL allies. The Sunnis and Shiaites may hate one another, but their combined hatred for Israel is much, much fiercer, and both moderates and extremists will do whatever it takes to wipe Israel off the map first.
Since America has stood by Israel until now, it is vitally important for the US to sever dependence on Arab oil, otherwise the US and Israel are will always be courting disaster.

Hillary's financial problems should be her own because she obviously lacks common sense. Give back the money donated to you so that you supporters can give it back to you to help retire your debt. You want to hold on to it and still expect people to help you with your debt.
As for Michael Sanders you are nothing but a fool. Why should Obama's supporters help Hillary when she is already thinking of running in 2012. We are in 2008 and the 2008 race is the focus not what Hillary wants to do in 2012. She is not supporting Obama so why should Obama's supporters help her.
If her so called 18 million supporters can be blown around by the wind then they were never democrats. If she had been a Republican then they would have been Republicans. They know nothing about the political climate or issues facing the american people. All they know is Hillary Clinton and if she were to jump off a cliff they would follow blindly.

Debts of Hillary should be paid by Hillary-herself. Period! She got this ridicules idea that she is suitable to be Commander-In-Chief. She has done a lot of the most terrible things for sixteen years, trying to achieve it. She, probably, mutilated her own life on this way. However, she is adult, and the very rich adult. So, she should pay her debts herself.

Michael Sanders:

Why don't the Clinton's 18 million voters you think you control somehow pay 2 bucks each and retire Hillary's debt? Where are all these people? Since Obama got $52 million in June, and Clinton got a measly $2 million, my guess is most of those voters have already gone for Obama.

Myself, I won't donate to her, ever.

There are surely some issues regarding the Democratic Party Primaries, which have to be resolved honorable if this bigotry Party Leadership want to keep face and want to win the November elections.
First, the Obamans should pay of immediate the full debt of Hillary Clintons Campaign if they want to take over the 18Million Voters of hers. That is only fair and reasonable. Without doing so, this, already weak Illinois one time Senator, is truly not more worth than many say he is...nothing. His "show-off" payment to Hillary's Campaign is more an Insult than any good face and is typically for his character.
Second, the self elected Democratic Leadership, Pelosi, Dean and Reid have to show for once face and have to push the impeachment of Bush, otherwise they will be forever being tied to the Failures of the Bush Administration, because they supported it and did not fight it in any way.
If these hypocrites (Pelosi, Dean and Reid) even think that they have a mandate, they should also take the responsibilities such mandate demands.
There will be no change at all, if they do not push their "Crown-Prince" to pay for the 18Million votes and especially not if they let the Bush Administration let getting away with its premeditated crimes against the people and in specific against the Constitution of this Country.
Whit doing nothing of this, the Democrats associate and affiliate themselves with all the same concepts and acts of the Bush Administration and show not any integrity or respect for the peoples votes and trust. Therefore no change can or will happen until this is been resolved.
America wake up, this Democrats, lead by Pelosi, Dean and Reid are not better than Bush, Cheney, Addison and all these others who betrayed us.
Vote for Hillary and topple this morbid Democratic leadership for its incompetence and betrayal to the American People. Or vote independent to show them that their view of right and wrong is as false as they are.

And now you pathetic twits are left with the socialist NoBama--a Marxist sympathizer with ties to creeps, crooks, terrorists, and race baiting bigots who stuggles to put together a coherent response to any question he has not rehearsed. This country will be destroyed from within someday by morons of the sort who support him so blindly today. Pull your head out of butts. Would someone wake up Nader? I swear it's the new N word. Nothing on CNN, Yahoo, Huffingluffigus, or anywhere else. Jesus, is his or your campaign a bloody secret?

I brought up a sports term and soon after there were comments about sexism. That was very funny. It took me two hours and having to read it twice, but I managed.

Ya, here at the Nader camp we won't be accepting props.

Oh, one more thing before I carry on with my rednick day.

Out here in Idaho we don't know that Obama even exists. He could be a computer person like Simone with Al Pacino. We think that Obama is really an alias of Bill Clinton. If we elect Obama then he will have tricked us into voting for him. Him being Clinton.

Paranoid? Oh ya. It would be easy to always say that Obama is somewhere else and not get caught. To Denver you say he is in New York. To New York you say that he is in Iraq. No one really cares so Bill Clinton could easily get away with it.

Sucks, doesn't it? Ya, now go back and come up with a new plan.

Thanks WP for the forum!! :)

hrc IS ASKING HER SUPPORTERS IF SHE CAN KEEP THEIR FUNDS FOR 2012.

Hillary Clinton's campaign is sending out letters to donors asking permission to roll a $2,300 contribution to Clinton's 2008 general election coffers to her 2012 senate election fund instead of offering a refund.

The letter, read to me by one recipient, includes a photocopy of a handwritten note from Clinton that says, "Dear friend, your commitment has meant so much to me over the course of my presidential campaign. You were there for me when I needed you the most and I'll never forget it. I hope you'll help me continue to fight for the issues and causes we believe in by filling out the enclosed form in support of Friends of Hillary."

The form says, "I hereby verify that my 2008 general election contribution may be designated to the 2012 Senate election. I designate the entire amount to the 2012 primary election. However if I have already contributed to the 2012 primary, I designate any amount in excess of $2,300 to the 2012 general election."
IT IS DISGUSTING THAT SHE OWES LITTLE PEOPLE MONEY.HER SUPPORTERS SHOULD PONY UP AND PAY OFF THE DEBT.WHERE ARE HER BIG FUNDRAISING FRIENDS NOW?
Obama will still lead the popular vote even in Florida is counted. And he'll lead it with Michigan too, as long as he's credited with the uncommitted votes there.
But if we're going to count Florida, there's really no justification for not counting those four caucus states, where generally accepted popular-vote estimates have Obama generating a plurality of 110,222 votes. Factor them in and Obama's final advantage--with Florida--almost doubles.
Now let's look at Michigan, a deeply flawed contest where turnout was exceedingly low and Obama's name was absent from the ballot. Clinton "won" the primary there with 55 percent, while "uncommitted" netted 40 percent.
Of course, only counting her votes is unfair. A reasonable compromise for including Michigan would involve giving Obama credit for the uncommitted votes
238,168 votes, he pulls ahead in the overall popular vote by almost 140,000 votes.

It is constantly misrepresented that Clinton won the popular vote. Go to www.usaelectionpolls.com/2008/clinton-obama-popular-vote.html It lists four different calculations of the popular vote totals. Obama wins with FL and MI, and without. The only way he loses the popular vote is if you DON'T count caucus states.

Any way you slice it, Obama wins the nomination. Legitimately, honestly, fairly.

Clinton will have a hard time being re-elected to her senate seat with this debt. Her supporters should help her out if they want to see her continue in public office.

Not a dime to pay off her debts. She chose to stay in the race longer when it was mathematically impossible for her to win. She chose to spend money that she didn't raise. What kind of fiscal responsibility is that? It's a crime that she owes small businesses all over this country. How can she sleep at night knowing that small business owners trusted her to repay the debts that are now over 60 days old? Take responsibility for your decisions Hilary.

Mark Penn - never - not a cent.
Clintons - nope - they should be like Romney and not ask for repayment of personal loans.
Vendors who have been stiffed (at least for the time being) - yes - I would send money to small business vendors who have not been paid. It is not their fault that the Clinton campaign so badly handled their finances. As a Democrat I believe we do need to help these vendors out.
I am only a small monthly donor to Obama, with some donations to the DNC and Senate and House 2008 election funds. I am a senior on a fixed, limited income, but this election is probably the most important one of my lifetime. I will go without to be able to contibute to elect Obama and get veto-proof majorities in the House and Senate.
If the Clinton campaign or better yet the DNC could set up a way to contribute to pay off vendors/small businesses that are owed money by the Clinton's, I would contribute. I sent the Clinton campaign $25.00 when Obama asked us to help, but I won't send again unless I am assured that it will not go to Mark Penn or the Clintons.

I am shocked and saddened to learn that The Clinton's owe a pizza business $6,000. I know what it's like to be a small business owner and have a large corporation deliberately not pay their bills, hoping to force you into bankruptcy so they can " legally " skate. I lost my house in the '80's this way. Where is Randy Billy during all of this ? In the Bahamas at the wedding of Greg Norman and Chris Evert. Think he AND HIS STAFF flew commercial ? So much for their green concerns. Hilary lost because she never made the case of what she was going to do with Bill, The Problem Child, once elected.I voted for the guy, reluctantly, twice(Bob Dole ??)but exposure has taught me to never trust ANY Clinton again. She has about, what, six weeks before she has to eat the loss ? Bet they won't be taking her house. Don't worry, The Clinton's are doing just fine eating cake, thank you.

PaulPress, you definitely did not read the entire post. Hillary raised $2.7 million in June! Hillary is not going to keep raising more than this. In fact, I suspect Hillary will raise about $1.2 million in July. If she is not the Democratic nominee for VP, she will raise about $500,000 in August.

There is no way Hillary will raise $12 million for her debtors by year-end especially when half her debt is owed to Mark Penn.

Posted by: Obama-Junkie | July 21, 2008 9:52 AM | Report abuse

Leon, you need to get your facts straight. No one exploited the caucus system. All the Obama camp did was participate in the caucus system as it was developed. Sen Clinton could have done the same if her campaign strategist Mark Penn had understood the system and realized he needed to have Sen Clinton participate in it. Indeed, Clinton should have known how to engage the caucus system as well, since she had been through it with her husband. The problem is she failed to do so, because she believed she would not need the caucus states.

Your Michigan/Florida arguments are old hat. Sen Clinton supported the DNC's position on these two states until she decided she needed them to be treated differently. That is called changing the rules in the middle of the game to suit one's own ends. Is that what you think is the Democratic way? Moroeover, the Clinton campaign can never legitimately claim winning the popular vote until they can tell us how to count the popular vote in caucus states. It is easy to claim victory when you change the rules (Florida and Michigan)or disregard those states that should be part of the population that make up the count with no solution on how to count them.

So, let's move on and decide do we want four more years of the last eight years of Bush or do you want change. Sen Clinton says she wants change. Will you honor her by voting for change, or will you disrespect her call to you and vote for more of the same? The choice is yours.

Just remember, your vote will impact the health care, war status and economic and supreme court direction of this nation. They will in turn impact you and your family. Vote your best interest!

To person who posted to Obama-Junkie...

Hillary got herself into this bad debt. Hillary owes herself $13 million and has $12 million of debt!

Those candidates of the past who got help from the nominee in paying off their debts had small debt amounts of $500,000 to $2,000,000, not $25 million!

If you truly believe that paying off Hillary's debt is the way to go, then by all means sacrifice a day's worth of eating or a clothing item you want to buy and contribute to Hillary. Both Bill and Hillary earned nearly $110 million dollars over an 8-year period. Bill Clinton typically earns $10 to 20 million a year. The Clintons could pay off the debt themselves but don't want to waste their millions doing so. They would rather beg low-income and middle-income Americans to pay off her debt!

Oh well, I'm independent now and try hard to stay open minded about both candidates until the debates, but I'm definitely leaning Obama.

So many people are losing their homes and jobs now. The economy is in the toilet for many. If hillary puts out a list of vendors, I'll send my money again to the vendor--not Mark Penn or the rich Clintons.

This constant drag of continual turmoil is one more example of the division and trouble that comes with the Clintons, who are experts at both. Chances are that the small vendor debts, from early in the campaign, have already been paid off or we would be hearing plenty about it. The big debts will be paid off by the bigger pockets - probably foreigners. Obama has done his part to the same extent that Hillary has done hers for him. Minimal. It shouldn't take an invitation by Obama for Hillary & Co. to support Obama by staying out of the news cycle, let him establish himself without their manipulations, and publically support his efforts to bring more political unity here and abroad than they could ever achieve.

OBAMOPATHS(RJ11 in DC)-

The point of the post was- your (now our) opportunistic candidate took political advantage of an archaic system (he won the delegate battle by winning caucus states like WY AND AK, where under 9500 people voted, by exploiting the black vote in the south where there are few white Dems and by working to prevent revotes in Florida and Michigan)- and by plastering her with all of the stereotypes of a powerful woman and she still got 50% of the vote and only 110 less pledged delegates...why should she have dropped out? Is it because the naked emporer should not have anyone question his lack of clothing or anything about him? As I stated before, Saint Edward the Kennedy had 600 delegates and took it to the 80 convention- thereby eliminating any chance Carter had of beating Reagan- and starting a 3 decade span where the only break we had was...The Clintons! yet he is idolized and his endorsement cherished. Is it because he has a Y choromosome?

As for Barak. It is all presentation with him. 52% of his money came from "bundlers" including the banking, healthcare and energy industry- which is maybe why he has such weak positions on all 3 issues- so when he forgoes public financing it is not to run the "peoples campaign. He is wrong on FISA now, switched positions on the death penalty, NAFTA/free trade, gun control, energy policy and even Iraq, which was always a false comparison between the candidtates-

If she still wants to be senator, and is not VP or supreme court justice at that point, she will be the NY senator. First of all she still polls 65% favorable in the black community. She polls well upstate. She is well liked in the city, where I live. She is popular in the Asian community, which is large, and in the Latin community, which is bigger than the black community here in NYS- so quit dismissing her- she is great= Resolve your issues with women/you mother with a therapist.

So, her majesty owes $6,000 to a pizza company. Wow! Well, that's a small business person who has to dig into his/her own pocket to make payroll. Clap clap and then a tearful moment. Ms. Hillary is not "a force of nature" she is a caricature. If anything, she is a creature of the political machinery which Taxes the populous while it erodes confidence and stability. Mrs. Clinton's "say anything" approach to the primaries was her eventual undoing. Applause applause and then a spiteful reproach. She should have stepped aside. She could have bowed out gracefully and with honor. She did not. For the gal from Wellesley has no honor. She is a fragmentary remnant of the socialist mindset of her generation. So for today she can take her sweet time and let a bunch of "little people" sweat it out as to when they will see payment for their goods and services. What a leader!
This election will decide the future of our nation, our path, our course. Let us not forget that the computer voting machines are still out there - and you really didn't mean to vote for a Democrat. Did you? Do you have a printed receipt? Of course that is if we even make it to the General Election. Perhaps another "Pearl Harbor" type event will allow ol' Georgie to exercise some hidden codicil of the "Patriot Act" and suspend elections, indefinitely.
Along time ago, I came to the conclusion that if I could think of something, surely some think tank had already thought of it. I pray for our survival.
And for those supporters of Hillary who will not back the current candidate, who have threatened to vote for Tweedle McCain, I say, to hell with you! Your infantile rant of sexism is abhorrent to my soul. Your culture of victimization for victimization's sake is beyond the pale of reason. We live in a golden age of manipulation on all fronts and "take my ball and go home" stratagems will surely lead to the eventual death of our Liberty and Opportunity for generations to come. Good luck. Mel

One of HRC's biggest backers has said that it's time to move on.

http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/07/top_democratic_official_sends.php

So while you attack Obama and gear up for the website HRC2012.com, think about the 7 conservative majority on the supreme ct if mccain wins with no protection for reproductive rights, or gender equity.

But at least you one person on here will have a t-shirt.

HRC's problem in this campaign was a product of the sexism of her advisers. They wouldn't let her be a woman running for president. She had to out drink man and threaten to obliterate Iran. This image played into the perceptions that people had of her in 1992 and perceptions that continue to fuel the perception that she's a closeted lesbian.

As an outspoken woman, I know it comes with a cost. However, HRC might have kept black women if she spoke their language focuses on the challenges of being a working woman which most black women are. That could have been her margin of victory.

Instead she had to talk about some non-existent test that the two white people passed (that's how we black folks saw it). She showed us something in her we didn't know and we didn't like.

All the sympathy for her and admiration for her that I developed in the aftermath of the cigar incident vanished, not because Obama is black but because from financial mismanagement to speaking to disfranchising workers in NV, to everything else, she played the game to much like a republican.

Now with the heat of the campaign over, she can vote the right way on FISA--a way she couldn't risk voting on the Iraq war, which has left over 4,000 dead and thousands more wounded.

Like Al Gore, losing has made her a better candidate than winning ever could.

I don't want anything to do with a candidate or a party that is so mean-spirited and demeaning of another candidate from the same party no less. You Obama supporters need to get over yourselves. You won! What are you afraid of - losing in November? You should be. The negative comments and name-calling just make the divide between us that much wider and harder to bridge.

When Sen. Clinton lost NC everyone was screaming for her to get out of the race telling her she had NO chance of winning, she said "Why sould I get out RFK was not assiassinated until June" another times "she said mericales can happen, again and again she said she had a suprise, After PENN. her camp, said she raised 10M$$$ in one night another snipper fire story, Sen, Clinton had every chance get out of this race instead she ran up this 26M$$ debt with all her experience and god judgement. The Clinton's are worth over a 100M$$$ they are not surffering with $4.00 gasoline she can pay her debt off herself just like Mitt Romney is paying his Debt off.

Look Bill is "RICH" and he is on his way the joining the "Billionaires for Bush Club" So he needs the money back Instead of crying Bill should just go out and make it up, by talking a whole lot more. Their are many, many "RICH RLITE FOOLS" who will be more than happy to pay bucks to hear him talk or go into business deals with him. So Bill get off your duff and start making bucks and cancel the loan like Mitt has.

The more Hillary is attacked by "us" "progressives" the more I admire her. The sexism of you sob's is unbelievable.

Hillary should have been a man she clearly has more balls than all the male readers of this blog - ME included. Hillary is a freakin' force of nature and fought tooth and nail till the end and beyond. She is an American hero - Hillary I love you - an' I'm an Obama supporter.

But NONE of THIS S*IT MATTERS - if we don't get a Democrat in the White House we lose the Supreme Court for at least a generation. FISA becomes just the first in what will be an ongoing rape of the Constitution - women will lose the right to control their own bodies functions - there is WAY TOO MUCH AT STAKE for us to fight each other. The only way we can lose this thing now is to be divided. For the sake of God lets eat our babies AFTER we bury McSame in the dustbin of history with the rest of the Neocons.

But come ON you guys. He DID ask his people to give her money, but we don't want to. The Clintons have WAY more money than me. Let them pay their own debts. She and/or Bill can do a book. He can do some paid speeches. They could cameo in a few movies. WTF. Money can fall in their laps in a million different ways. She was out way before she dropped out. We always knew she'd win the states she won and it was never going to be enough once the Potomac Primary results were in. She chose to stay in anyway, and she can bail herself out. Her supporters are supposed to give to Obama b/c they are Democrats and he is the Democratic nominee. Do you guys want 4 more years of Bush policies with McBush?

In 2004, alot of us who back Obama backed Dean. He was mistreated by the mainstream Dem candidates, Kerry and Gephardt. He was abused by the media. But we got in line and worked for Kerry even tho we couldn't stand the sight of him because the country needed rid of Bush.

I don't hate Hillary at all. But you whiny bastards need to grow up and live to fight another day. It's NOT ALL ABOUT YOU! People DIE EVERY DAY because Republicans hold the WH. Get over yourselves.

I think Barack Obama's supporters have paid enough on her debts. I am one of those people and I've already sent her a small donation to help retire her debts. I will not send her another cent. Mrs. Clinton is on her own now...we didn't help build up this debt, but we've helped her pay off some of it. Barack asked us to help her and we did, but we should not be expected to pay it all.

Hillbots (Leon),
don't you think a candidate should stop his or her campaign once it goes in the red, say...when they owe numerous businesses in every state a total $10 million or more. It should be illegal or at least a DNC punishment.

Whatever. Reality is that barely anyone is bailing her out.

Also, I believe NY has buyers remorse and won't vote for her in 2012. She has a lot of work to do and bills to pay.

Since I'm NOT a delusional, "hardworking" white, blue collar, uneducated, sexist,
my vote is NOT one red cent.

To Rachel: If Obama wanted hillary to be VP he wouldn't be not helping her pay her debt.

He has done everything possible to not help her pay her debt.

He wants her supporters who have maxed out to also max out to him but he doesn't want his supporters to pay off her debt.

His finance team are sending out e-mails asking for money specifically saying in bold letters no money will go to Hillary.

It is a shame because Hillary got more votes. It was the DNC and the superdelegates that were the sham.

Hillary won the real election the texas primary but then she loses a joke texas caucus.

Obama wouldn't have another election in michigan and florida.

Hillary was robbed and by not supporting her being the nominee you are helping the Olbermann's and Dean's of the world corrupt the system.

She should be the nominee no one else.

Obama said he also couldn't have her because of Bill Clinton's past.

Obama said she was likable enough.

Obama campaign blamed her partly for the death of Bhutto.

Obama campared her to Jesse Jackson for trying to take it to the convention.

people would be foolish to allow HRC to reprogram money designated for the General into a Senate campaign. She has lost the black vote. She needs to quietly signal she will not be running for re-election to allow new blood, again she has lost the black vote and will be beat in the Primary. She has already proved she is a race baiter, to allow her to bring her divisive tactics to New York is a monstrosity in the making.

Why Rodham Clinton with her $110 Million in an Off Shore, Non-Tax paying, Commodity Hedge Fund can easily afford to write off 10%, and help the Democratic Party by not competing during a General Election with so much at stake. Pathetic. I blame New York for foisting this Shrew on the political process.

Where is Harriot Christian who called Barack Obama the "inadequate black man"?

Where are those so callled "18 million" supporters?

Why aren't these people bail out their favorite candidate?

SAINT EDWARD KENNEDY STAYED IN THE RACE UNTIL THE CONVENTION IN 1980 WITH ALL OF 600 DELEGATES- THEN HE WEAKLY ENDORSED CARTER AND SNUBBED HIM AT THE CONVENTION- all of your bs about "death threats"- it was clearly a reference and not a threat of any type, etc.---all of the efforts to push her out (which eventually worked- making her look like she was desperately hanging on - THE SAME TACTIC W USED ON GORE) is all the HATE of a powerful woman that Obama capitalized on (along with getting rich college kids to vote for him in caucus states and winning 92% of AA vote in states where AA make up the majority of Dems in the south)in order to get the nomination. She's gotten out, endorsed and fund raised for Barak. You can stop your ridiculous hatred of the candidate who had the more ambitously progressive stances and policy proposals- one's she couldn't have just backed out of like someone else. I am supporting the naked emporer, but his supporters are the most arrogant, self-righteous bunch of no-nothing children I have experienced in my 24 years of working within the Dem. party. Their blind following and willingness to throw heroes like Jesse Jackson "under the bus" is disgusting.

I am not giving Hillary a dime. She was and is the most divisive candidate I know. She stayed in the race long after she knew she couldn't win simply to attack Obama. The republicans and elderly mccain attacks against Senator Obama stem from what Hillary said in the primary such as:
He's inexperienced--lies
He hasn't attended or called for any committee meeting on Afghanistan...which was lie. Biden is in charge of the overall committee and called meetings because the situation in Afghan has worsened so...Obama attended majority of those committee meetings. Obama was in charge of the Afghan subcom under Biden's leadership.
He is getting more and favorable media attention...
The list goes on and on...

Frankly, I feel betrayed and embarrassed that I voted for the Clintons in he past. I know my grandmothers would feel the same if they were alive today...The way they behaved and still are behaving this election season has revealed their true nature.

I didn't vote for Hillary this primary season, and I will never vote for a Clinton again 2012 or any other time.

Posted by: Sheryl | July 21, 2008 12:00 AM | Report abuse

If Hillary's 18 million supporters who voted for her and supported her decision to stay in the race contributed $1.50 each to her campaign, she would have more than enough to pay off her debt. Frankly, I am appalled and very tired of hearing about Hillary's debt and the ridiculous assumption that Senator Obama's supporters should retire this debt. Senator Clinton made the decision to continue her compaign beyond the point when there was no statistical way she could win the primary. Also, her campaign exemplified poor judgement by not paying bills monthly and stiffing local vendors whom she continually espoused to support (white working class citizens). Expenditures like separate planes for reporters and $6000 on pizzas are just two examples of misuse of campaign funds. There are many more examples of extravagance throughout the campaign.
Please MSM, stop reporting about Hillary's campaign debt. And if you must, please put the responsibility for retiring this debt where it belongs, and that is with Hillary.

Her supporters said she is tough because she refused to drop out, even after the MI and FL fiasco and her RFK death threat on Obama in June.

That's not tough, that's foolish. SHe risked tearing the party apart, whilst knowingly bilking millions from small vendors.

Creditors would be hunting her down, except that she probably put the HRC campaign under some unknown s-corp.

Vendors should be suing her and the DNC should expunge her from the party for using the DNC brand to bilk people.

$21 million is the largest, most gross campaign debt in history tenfold. She sat there month after month, running up her credit cards when she knew she was broke. She even took from schools and universities.

Well, it's her debt and she should pay it. She has plenty of money to pay it easily. I will donate $25 to a vendor if a list comes out.

If she can't manage her campaign, how the heck can she manage the country. PUMAs my ass-- they need to get out their credit cards.

Give it up. Your guy won. Your hatred for Hillary is illogical. Every losing candidate has campaign debt, and the winning candidate helps. The fact Obama has done so little is appalling.

If you say "Hillary is on her own," then guess what? So is Obama? Those big donors that maxed out for Hillary better got give him one cent. I'm one of the small Hillary donors. I'm not a wealthy professor who can give $5 increments 40 times to a candidate like Obama was able to get. I gave HRC all I could afford, $25.

But if she is on her own, than so is Barack. I'm not voting for someone who has done so little to help this candidate. In '88, Dukakis helped Jackson with debt. Same for '84 with Mondale and Hart. Why is Obama doing such a poor job helping her out?

THE TRAIL.

Thank you for this info. We have, over the past few weeks, heard about Hillary's debt being over $20million, but we had to guess as to who the creditors were.

Now with your report, we can see that Hillary owes herself $13million+, and Mark Penn $5million+. Why won't Hillary post these figures on her websites?

If the above is accurate, I am sure that Hillary's 18million supporters, can afford to donate $0.50 (yes that is correct just fifty cents) per supporter will enable Hillary to pay off her miscellaneous debts!

Whether her supporters are prepared to pay off Mark Penn is questionable at best, and why should they be expected to reimburse Hillary for her personal loans?

In business if you make irresponsible loans and these loans cannot be repaid, you have to chalk this up to some one's inexperience, and you have to suck it up and write it off as a BAD DEBT. Hillary's loan to her campaign is no different, except it is not clear whether she can write it off as a Bad Debt!

Twist it or turn it however you want, why in the name of logic, should Barack's Supporters be expected to pay off Hillary's Debt?

Hillary was running at the request of her so-called supporters, she was NOT running to help BARACK or HIS SUPPORTERS, therefore Hillary supporters, it is time for you to put your money where your mouth is!

Hillary and Bill still have $110 million that they amassed after getting out of office in 2000. So why can't Hillary pay her own frickin debt? She knew that she had lost in March. She kept on spending like a drunken sailor thinking that playing the race card would finally get her the nomination. You know - hardworking white people and playing the racist deck every chance she got. So why would Obama supporters want to bail her out now? For Christsakes, the women who will vote for McCain if not for Obama are racists in the first place. Why do they need appeasing anyway?

Grow up Hillary and write a check to yourself to pay yourself off. THAT would be a graceful thing for you to do at long last. You have more money in the bank that 99% of Obama supporters.

She should post all of her debts on her website with links to each vendor. That way, people could pay the debts directly and help out these small businesses she totally bilked. I am sure that is a ton of money for that PA pizza shop, and it is so wrong for them to go unpaid.

And she wants the VP nod? What a crock.

Hillary is on her own. As more details come out about Hillary's debt the more Obam-supporters are not going to be willing to repay Hillary's debts.

Hillary has $25 million in debts and loans of which she owes herself $13 million. That leaves $12 million of debt in which nearly half of that is owed to Mark Penn's firm. Mark Penn came up and supported some of the most negative tactics of the Hillary campaign, and now expects Obama supporters to pay him for it?!

Sorry Hillary I'm not paying for Mark Penn's services. The only thing I can say to Hillary is to ask Bill Clinton to pay off Mark Penn. My limited resources are going towards Barack Obama!
