McCain Outlines Vice Presidential Selection Philosophy

By Robert Barnes
BAKERSFIELD, Ca. -- Sen. John McCain's choice of a running mate appears to be ... a Republican.

McCain was asked about his choice today while speaking, via webcast, to a group of friends and supporters in Bermuda who had gathered to raise money for him. Since any morsel of news about the vice president is heavily sifted for clues, experts out there can chew over this:

"I just want to assure you that we're going through the process. There's so many highly qualified people in our party, ranging -- and I won't mention names -- but ranging from people who have been stalwarts in our party for a long time, and great governors and senators and business people. It's a very tough decision," McCain said.

"And I'll just mention a couple of aspects, very quickly. First, you ought do no harm. First, you want to make sure you have a candidate that's not going to burden the ticket. The second thing is, and I think it's the key criteria, is it someone who shares your principles, your values, your philosophy and your priorities? The hardest thing for the president is to establish priorities. And I think we're blessed with a wealth of candidates,'' he added.

So all that clearly points to ... who?

COME ON, the only choice is Bush's hand picked man Romney. Romney was Bush's choice for president but when he looked really bad in the primaries Bush called him off and said we will throw McCain to the wolfs and if by some slim to none chance he gets it we want you for v.p. Who knows maybe McCain will get a snort of that stuff his wife uses and his heart won't take it and you will be our 3rd term.

McCains first concern is to "do no harm"??? Ah, that's rich, in light of that, when's he going to step aside and let a competent candidate take his place?

The idea of a McCain/Romney ticket floors me - deer in the headlight looks in stereo. Mr. McFlip and Mitt Flop. what a combination!!

Soooooo, for God's Sake;

NEVER Write Mitt Romney, or Say, Mitt Romney, or Whisper Mitt Romney, or Imply Mitt Romney, or Spell M-I-T-T R-O-M-N-E-Y, or Talk about Mitt Romney, or...

Whoever McCain picks, this election is for Republicans. If he picks Romney, it is for a 16-year ticket.

Whomever McCain picks, including Condoleezza, will have to explain away George W. Borrow's legacy of debt, Richard "Dead Eye" Cheney's philosophy of "Let somebody else fight" and the general Republican tax policy of hoping the giveaways to the rich somehow reach the masses. I feel sorry for John McTrickle.

Hope he chooses Romney. Romney is a *business-man* so he knows all about the *economy*.

He'll *buy America* and *lay everybody off*

Simple! Just like McCain!

Ha! McCain's new slogan is "Country First," but here he admits that his personal naked political ambition trumps his patriotism.

Look at what he said: the "first"(!!) criteria is that the VP not harm the ticket (i.e., make sure McCain gets elected), while the second is that the individual be strong enough to lead the nation. Very telling...

I almost hope McAmnesty does make his FINAL gaffe, and soon!

Pawlenty the McAmnesty Boot-Licker, will be all it takes for the Conservatives to oust the TRAITOROUS "Independents" from our decision process!

Politics makes for very strange bedfellows.

Combine that with the FACT, most complacent Americans do NOT Vote.

And you have the perfect Storm that occurred when Bushie, McAmnesty, and O'Bomba-Nation's Puppet Master(Or, at least one there-of) Kennedy;

Tried to pull the Amnesty Stunt AGAIN! :-(

Conservatives WILL Rally!

Just give us a Reason!

Should result in Mitt Romney/ Huckabee, or maybe Keyes!

▁▂▃▄▅▆▇█ OBAMA - LEAHY '08 █▇▆▅▄▃▂▁

Knows where all the bodies are buried.... and he is a former prosecutor. EXACTLY, what we need. Don't worry, Jake D has already signed up for conjugal visits with Speedy Gonzalez, prefers short, pale and ugly, what can I say? Not that there is anything WRONG with that.

I still think McCain should wait until after Obama picks his V.P. candidate (although, he should be prepared to announce the very next day ; )

Romney harms the ticket because Bush's evangelical base is superficially spiritual and deeply racist. No Mormons need apply.

Portman is too tied in with Bush's failed econ policies.

And Jindal does amateur exorcisms.

Pawlenty won't help him win Minnesota, but he has cred with the evangelical crowd and he won't hurt McCain....
