Obama Camp Chooses Site for Berlin Speech

The gold-topped Victory Column, or Siegessaeule, in the heart of downtown Berlin. (Associated Press)

Sen. Barack Obama's campaign said today that his speech in Berlin on the future of trans-Atlantic relations will be delivered in front of a Prussian war monument, rather than the Brandenburg Gate.

The announcement triggered criticism in Germany that the Victory Column, or Siegessaeule, was an inappropriate landmark for the Thursday speech, since the 226-foot column honors Prussian triumphs over Denmark, Austria and France.

The Siegessaeule, built in 1873, stood in front of Germany's parliament building, the Reichstag, until the late 1930s, when Adolf Hitler's architect, Albert Speer, moved it to its current location in the middle of the Tiergarten park.

Since German reunification, the column has become known as the central location for Berlin residents to party.

thank goodness the report did not place the Victory Column in Downtown Berlin, as did so many reports. It's located a good 20 minute walk from any "downtown" areas of Berlin. Nope, it's in the middle of a wide boulevard that runs through a huge park. It's a stone's throw from one of Berlin's most popular gay cruising areas. It was a poor choice, but it's within eye-shot of the Brandenburg Gate, to which BHO's handers seem addicted. Let's hope BHO's handlers don't let him say "Ich bin EIN Berliner," which is incorrect. It's simply: "Ich bin Berliner." If BHO wants to evoke the shade of JFK, why doesn't he do his nightclub act at the Schoeneberg Rathaus? Isn't that where JFK said he was EIN Berliner? "Ein Berliner" of course is a delectable jelly donut!

These McSame BIGOTS amaze me. Its ok..I would be Jealous too if my candidate was a seventy two yearold man, who flip flops on issues, doesn't know what he's talking about most of the time, and whos international appeal is next to nothing.

If Obama can bring POSITIVE image to the United States of America I'd take him anyday. I'll feel SAFER in my country becuase I know that some of the other superpowers are on our side.

McSame supporters NEED to abandon the US VS. THEM mentality. Otherwise it'll be Only us against.....ALL of them..."them" being the terrorists.

Oooo boy the gop trolls are out in full force. They're easy to spot, they sport the mentality and IQ of your average socially inept 9 year old. I guess I can't spite them for their jealousy and anger - heck, I'd be a little miffed if my candidate was a doddering old man that can't keep anything straight, has no clue on the economy - and heck, he can't even send an email without assistance!! You bet thousands will gather in Europe to see Obama - our elections and presidents affect them too, so they're even more anxious to be rid of the Bush admin.

Clue for you spammers - turn down the bigotry - we all see you for what you are, you're not swaying anyone, you're just publicly displaying your ignorance. Why not bolster your candidate by promoting his stance on the issues? Oh, I guess that is a tough job since mccain has been know to change his positions on the issues daily. I'm sorry that the gop candidate is about as exiciting as watching paint dry - Obama will be good for america. Lose your cynicism and work for a better tomorrow.

Barack HUSSEIN Obama will loose the election. He will not win. Wait to see how many people go to the voting booths and realize who Obama really is and don't want to make a mistake or sale their Country to a man they barely know. Who is BHO? we know little about him, only what the media exposed, but do we really want to elect an unknown guy selected by Nancy Pelosi in the White House? I doubt it!! so please America wake up and some of you may pray to God for wisdom before you VOTE in November. It is very important to think twice before you put your ballot in November. Barack Obama will deiver a historical speech at Tiergarten Park, in Berlin, beneath the monument topped with the statue of a golden angel known as the Siegessäule. The Siegessäule is one of Berlin's most recognizable landmarks.
The presumptive US Democratic presidential candidate is hugely popular in Germany. The historic partnership between Germany and the US will form the centerpiece of Senator Obama's speech at Berlin's Victory Column. The speech will focus on the need to strengthen transatlantic relations to meet 21st-century challenges. The US presidential contender, hailed as the new John F Kennedy in Germany. A recent poll published in Bild newspaper showed 72 percent of Germans would vote for him if they could. According to German authorities, plan is being set up an Obama "fan mile," similar to arrangements during the European soccer championship and the soccer World Cup two years ago to allow thousands to watch the event on big screens. After seven years of George W Bush -- a deeply unpopular US president in Germany -- Europeans are lapping up the Illinois senator's message of change. Analysts say Obama, if elected US president, could inject a new momentum into diplomatic relations with Germany.

Clinton Loaned Self Another $1 Million After Leaving Race
By Matthew Mosk
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's debt to her vendors grew in June, according to a federal filing tonight to the Federal Election Commission, and the New York Democrat reported loaning herself an additional $1 million after leaving the campaign trail.

Clinton raised just $2.7 million in June and finished the month with $25.2 million in campaign debt, most of that, $13.175 million, owed to Clinton herself, according to her report to the FEC. She has said she will seek to repay the campaign's debts to others before paying herself back. Campaign vendors awaiting payment included the firm of strategist Mark Penn, owed $5.3 million, and the Dewey Square Group, owed $236,000.

The campaign also owed local firms in states such as Pennsylvania and Indiana, where Clinton fought in late, competitive primaries. She owed nearly $1,800 to Kokomo Center Schools in Indiana, for instance, and nearly $6,000 to Dakota Pizza in Wynnwood, Pa.

Obama's venue is not as important as his speech. I feel certain that he will draw a huge crowd because American influence in Europe has definitely waned since the advent of Bush and Rumsfeld in Washington. You may remember the slight that Rumsfeld gave the Europeans who refused to go along with our misdirected and misguided war in Iraq. I am sure that if a particular site were too objectionable to the Germans that another appropriate site will be found. Obama is very flexible. Contrary to many who try to belittle Obama, Obama is a very decent human being, who happens to be very intelligent and articulate. He possesses qualities that others find threatening because their own qualities are obviously lacking as is evidenced by the many words of scorn that they write.

The Hillary Clinton campaign in 2008 was one of the worst run in decades -- maybe ever. Why? Simply stated, it was doubly worse because the Democratic nomination was hers to lose.

Hillary is/was very smart, extremely well versed on the issues and carried with her candidacy the best known brandname since Roosevelt. Furthermore, she is tough and a great retail politician.

Graduate students wil use her campaign debacle as the fodder for case studies, text book chapters and Master's theses for years to come. And, I'll wager that there are several books in the works.

Her downfall came for two reasons -- one of them totally within her control: She simply chose the wrong advisors and listened to the wrong advice. Neither Hillary nor her senior advisors recognized how many Americans have come to hate George W. Bush with unparalleled intensity.

The second factor was the Obama impact on a nation which really, really dispises the current President. In normal times, he would never have been able to motivate the millions who now support him.

You deal with the price of oil through conversation. Most people can probably cut their consumption by half if they tried. All of a sudden gas is the equivalent of $200 again. At least for the conservative ones. I fill up around once every 5 weeks.

Sorry to disillusion you, but even if it goes to China,(and all of it will not) it is still more oil. And supply ALWAYS brings down prices. And in the event of a war, I bet the US keeps our oil right here. They can play the game as well as the other OPEC nations. Additionally, we will have RESERVES as we have now, but from the US. The world needs more oil and the US is sitting on it.
So we do need to drill, as well as take advantage of all other energy options.

Viva Obama.

HRC went with racial dog whistles after she ran out of money and idea's (gas tax, hard working white people). Had all the people that had voted for her prior to that revealing bit of character than I suggest millions would sure like to have their votes. I would have been one of them. She went racist negative before she got to my state, and I became a caucus organizer. In my state, caucuses exploded from '04. Not much to organize, people came out of the woodwork to fight the racist monster. BTW... she is dead meat in a white wine cream sauce as far as her seat goes in New York. Lost the Black vote.

Hillary won the popular vote. And if the Wright mess had come out in January verses being HID by the media, Obama would have been out of this race before he ever got started. And everyone knows it. He was trending DOWN when the DNC strong armed Super delegates into voting fo him.

Obama is a fraud. And he will lose in November! He is losing now. Watch the Undecided vote. We all know the game after the Hillary/Obama polls that overstated Obama's numbers.
And additionally,in the General Election, Obama does not have caucuses or Delegate votes that are apportioned to him based on the candidacy of Jesse Jackson in 1988. These are the DNC rules that MSNBC Chris Matthews said has "set Hillary Clinton up for failure."
We all know the game! And it was NOT played fair. Not even close. And our votes will let the DNC know we do not appreciate their shoving this inexperienced candidate down our throats!

Lets be honest, no one is going to give you a free ride. You have to do it for yourself. I have 26 acres just outside Tallahassee where we are building a poured concrete 2000 sq. ft house. The house will be almost completely self sufficient. With solar and wind power that will exceed our needs. It will also be pretty much hurrican proof. I currently have solar hot water heating in my south Florida home as well as marble floors that that act as a thermal mass. We use almost no air conditioning. Everything is the most efficient and this months electric bill was $46.00. My car is a 2003 Ford Escort I have experimented with. The car gets over 40 miles to the gallon and can do better. I am sorry to say my other car is a gas hog Volvo I will also be working on soon. All the promises are nice but we need to do a lot of it ourselves. I am building a dune buggy now from an old VW that will run on natural gas and I am sure I will get the equivalent of 60 to 70 miles per gallon with my modifications. This by the way could be built as a project by anyone with a little know how. I built dune buggies when I was a teenager. Either way I have never depended on anyone all my life. I take care of myself.

FUTURE NEWS SYNDICATE

Lost Tribe Of Hillary Holdouts Found

- BREAKING NEWS -

The first contact in several years with remnants of a holdout band of Hillary Clinton supporters took place yesterday, with a helicopter flyover identifying the handful of survivors. Unwilling to concede that the 2008 Democratic presidential primary had been fairly conducted, the hardy but dwindling tribe led by Hedy (aka Frito Bandito) became increasingly isolated during the Obama/Leahy administrations, eschewing television and rumored to be surviving only on moss, pant suit juice and the occasional squirrel.

Following the merger of the Republican and Democratic Parties and repeal of the 22nd Amendment in 2015 which allowed Beloved Leader Obama's election to a third term by an unprecedented Electoral College vote of 538 - 0, the tribe disappeared and has not been heard from for several years. Until this sighting, the continued existence of the "Hillarians" was doubted and their story had passed into the realm of urban legend.

Hillary was lucky it was as close as it was. She got her votes when no one even knew who Obama was. If held over the vote would be more like 21 million Obama and 15 million Hillary. Obama was playing catch up the whole time. In a do over Obama would swamp Hillary, thats a fact.

I am (was) also a Democrat and will NEVER vote for this arrogant for no reason jerk.
He is literally a Puppet on a String. And he will do anything and flip sides on anything for a vote! And he can as he has NO experience, NO record and NO core beliefs or values.
The DNC has made a mockery of the office of President of the United states! And Obama, by listening for 20 YEARS to hate about America and then ask Americans to vote for him to be the American President, is nauseating. What were the Democrats thinking? The party of equality that we all stood up and fought for wanted the candidate that followed racism (black supremacy.) And racism is racism. Regardless of color. It is crazy beyond words. And yes, it is a joke that the DNC really thinks we will all fall in line and vote for Obama! They have lost their minds while in their jealous hunt to beat a Clinton. And that is what this was all about! But the joke will be on the DNC in November as Obama LOSES! And he will lose. America did not get to be the wonderful country we are by electing a man that has followed hate speech of America for 20 years. No Way.

I love the MSM -- they don't accurately report that Berlin's mayor wanted Obama to have the speech at the Brandenberg Gate, but that Dubya called his good buddy Angela Merkel and had her put the kibosh on it. So now, because of the repugs interference, he goes to an alternate site and you find ways to criticize THIS one. Hilarious -- and to see all you sore losers from the primaries joining in makes it all the more sweet. Too bad ... get used to it.

I have heard Mccain being referred to as "The little Hitler" lately with his attempts to manipulate the news media and stop any signs or protesters at his rallies. Even having one old woman with an anti-Mccain sign arrested. He would have his own SS if he thought he could get away with it. Now all he needs not are arm bands and a mustache and he will be good to go.

I think it is a mistake to let the repugs choose where to hold your rallies, but.... the pivot remains true, if Mr. McGoo could hold a rally in Germany and get more than skinheads and neo nazies to show up .... by golly he would DO IT! BUT HE CAN'T.
