Obama to Address House Democrats Next Week

By Shailagh Murray
Sen. Barack Obama will address the House Democratic Caucus on Tuesday at the group's weekly closed-door strategy meeting, a chance to rally rank-and-file lawmakers before the campaign revs up this fall.

A senior Democratic aide said Obama's appearance at the session will represent his first as a Democratic candidate. The last time he showed up in the House, Obama was mobbed on the floor of the chamber -- although more than a few of the gladhanders were Republicans.

This time, Obama will presumably have plenty to report from his world travels, but Democrats are thinking locally as well as globally, and will be looking to their presumptive nominee for assurances of the strongest possible party infrastructure heading into November.

I still wonder how John McCain got to be a hero when he spent his time in a concentration camp and then got in bed with the North Koreans in order to get out. Lots of men were in prison camps and did more fighting than McCain.... how his plane got shot down? Deliberately or recklessness? With all his lies, who knows.

PS to my message Iraq was intended, not Iran. Like McCain age does me no favors!

How refreshing to see a peacemaker instead of a warmonger stand proudly to represent America in Europe. One who speaks coherently and intelligently and stands a chance of bringing respect back to this country. Someone who can truly represent an international heritage, cross barriers of race and culture and one who has studied understood and we hope learned lessons from our mistakes and wars of the past without having to repeat those mistakes to learn from them.

As a white woman in her sixties I have tired of seeing old men sending young men off to unnecessary wars. Some wars are necessary and just but the one in Iran was not. It took a young man, a senator with real guts to stand up and say so.

Mc Cain is a real hero and I appreciate his sacrifices for this country but what the whole world needs now is someone with extreme energy, intelligence, great judgement, and, yes charisma who is courageous enough to use those enormous resources to inspire and lead us forward in these difficult and dangerous times.

Thank you Barack Obama and may the force be with you!

Let's put it on the table: Sen. Obama has a lot more money than the dnc.

Those house democrats who are "looking to their presumptive nominee for assurances of the strongest possible party infrastructure heading into November" might also be looking for a little campaign cash.

If Pres. Carter had gone into DC with the level of support that Obama, assuming his likely election, will enjoy, then the energy, health care and educational crises would have been solved thirty years ago.

Good to see that the democrats will, by necessity, be on the same page and marching to the beat of the same drummer: Barack "Mongo Santamaria" Obama.

Obama has little substance, experience, or good ideas. Maybe he is going to ask the "geniuses" in the House for advice. All of them continue to bailout the large banks that profited off of ordinary Americans for years. They show no strength, demand no reforms, and do nothing for homeowners.

On top of that, the House Democrats have blocked even a vote on new drilling in the U.S. because they are afraid that their role in the current oil crisis will be exposed. They are afraid that people will realize that their obsession with unrealistic alternative energy is all smoke in mirrors.

The republicans and the right wingers haters got a nerve. The have robbed American blind, they have raped our constitution, they have caused our standings in the world to go to zero, and they wanted to jump on OBAMA after they parse every word.I listen to Andrea Mitchell today before Obama's speaech, continue to say he could harm his self, depending on what he says. She he continue to say that before even listening to the speech. Then after the speech, it was he can harm himself back home by looking too presidential.Doe she want him to look like Mcsame, stumbling over words, telling his lies, making his gaffes?Or is that what they are sitting back and waiting for? Some thing for OBAMA to say so they can use 24/7 cable news to trounce it over and over.I have no more respect for A.Mitchell. I know her husband supports Mcsame, so I guess she does too. Is their no other real journalist other than Keith Obermann and Rachel Maddow?

It is increasingly humorous to read the comments of the neocons and republicans whining about Obama. They have spent eight years abolutely trashing our country, the world, our Constitution, gutted our regulatory agencies, run up trillions in debt to be paid for by our children and yet continue their arrogant smirks about continuing four more years of give-aways to the rich. Sorry, but your clock has run out, now get out of town and shut up.

Barack Obama is one of the brightest candidates the United States has had running for President in many, many years.
