Romney Confronts His Own Criticisms of McCain

By Michael D. Shear
PHOENIX -- Is Mitt Romney ready to debate Joe Biden? That was the question posed to the possible McCain running mate by CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer.

Biden, Romney said, is an "impenetrable thicket of words. I don't know if anyone is ready to debate him."

Blitzer then showed a series of clips from a Republican primary debate, where Romney listed a litany of things that were wrong with McCain, including: that McCain is "outside the mainstream of Republican thought," was a driving force behind the McCain-Feingold
campaign finance bill and the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill.

And, he said, if you're endorsed by the New York Times (as McCain was) you're not a real Republican.

What does Romney say now?

"That just points out that John McCain is his own man," he said.

There is a lot of stuff that went down between McCain and Romney that Wolf Blitzer didn't even touch. Imagine two guys on a presidential ticket that don't much like either other with a total net worth of nearly $500 million.

The Democrats will have a field day with this ticket.

No, No, No, forget criticizing Karl Rove. Americans don't care and half don't even know who he is. Use Mitt's words against McCain when he is selected. Use McCain's words against him. McCain used to be a different kind of politician, too.

Is Romney's analysis of his differences with McCain code speak for "no sensible person would take what we say seriously anyway?" "His own man?" Please give us a break; McCain's bought and paid for by the oil cartel right down to his $500 pair of shoes.

There's a long list of primary candidate statements turned into Vice Presidential candidate's hiccups.

Voodoo Economics, anyone?

McCain is barking down the wrong tree with his latest attacks using Hillary's words, as they will only serve examples of politics as usual from another McSame Republican.
