McCain Holds Celeb-Packed Fundraiser

By Michael D. Shear
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Sen. John McCain may continue to attack Sen. Barack Obama as a celebrity, but that doesn't mean that McCain is above associating with them.

At a fundraiser in the heart of Hollywood Monday night, McCain rubbed elbows with a chorus of television and movie stars while raising some cash in the final days before his Republican convention. About 1,600 crammed into a ballroom at the Beverly Hills Hilton, the campaign said.

Earlier, Patricia Heaton, star of "Everybody Loves Raymond" joined McCain on the Straight Talk Air today for a flight from Sacramento to Burbank, descending down the front stairs of the plane together and posing for pictures.

And in the morning, Daddy Yankee, one of the biggest stars in the Latino community, endorsed McCain in front of a gaggle of screaming teenagers, then joined McCain for a leg on the plane.

Before the fundraiser, McCain taped an appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

Here's a list of those spotted at the fundraiser:

Patricia Heaton (from TV show "Everybody Loves Raymond")

Gary Sinise (Forrest Gump, CSI:NY, etc.)

Dean Cain (played Superman on the TV show "Lois and Clark")

Jon Voight (actor and Angelina Jolie's estranged father)

Jon Cryer (from TV show "Two and a Half Men")

Angie Harmon (from TV show "Women's Murder Club") and Jason Sehorn (former cornerback of the New York Giants)

Craig T. Nelson (from old TV show "Coach" and four episodes of "My Name is Earl")

George Newburn (groom from "Father of the Bride")

Lorenzo Lamas (from the soap "The Bold and the Beautiful")

Hey Dyeyungstayprety....
Let' see....Angelina Jolie is a tramp, wears blood around her neck, is covered with tatoos, had a lesbian relationship, slept with half of Hollywood, broke up Brad Pitt's marriage, and now trys to be little Miss Suzy homemaker yet wont let her father meet his grandchildren.....
I dont think she is much to look up to herself so your comment about John Voight is meaningless just like Obama's meaningless jiber jaber that has no substance.

Geez, how many times do we have to hear about McCain being a POW?!? We know! We've heard that 1,000,000 times already!

That doesn't qualify him to be President! The fact that he's sided with Bush's failed policies most of the time during the past 8 years disqualifies him from being a good candidate in my mind.

By the way, did you know that McCain's wife Cindy inherited her fortune? Besides she used to be a cheerleader and a drug addict! What a great second lady she'd make!

I've been told that politics were dirty. Well I've been heavily involved for over 50 years ansd thought the Johnson vs Goldwater campeign was pretty bad, but, wow, this one takes the prize. When nasty remarks are made about a man who served his country and was a prisoner of war for five and a half years thats really bad. Talk about his issues, yes. But the black child? Do you not know that the McCains brought thaT Child from Banglidesh(spelling may be wrong) because Mother Threse asked them to take it because they needed many surgeries to rebuild the child's face? I can't remember offhansd if it's a boy or girl, but does it really matter?

Keep up the hatred you Obama lovers.

When you show your true colors and you lose everytime.

Wow, the Obama Kool-Aid drinkers are MOCKING the fact that McCain was a POW---what a surprise---way to dispel the notion that you people hate our military.

And what's even more ironic is the way you Obama Kool-Aid drinkers are mocking the "B-List" status of the celebs who attended the McCain fundraiser.
....that's because all the A-List celebs are shilling for Obama---exactly as McCain has been pointing out.

Oh yeah, and Obama has the support of Bill Ayres, the courageous guy who bombed the Capitol Building. He's a real winner.

Lou Ferigno...now that's a celebrity that's gonna swing many votes your way. I heard you pay him $5 and he'll show up to greet you on your birthday.

What an idiot of a writer. That room was packed and there were lots of other stars you missed. If you had listed them all you could have taken cheap shots at them too. Robert Duval was there, Jerry Bruckheimer and his nice wife, James Cahn was there, Kevin Sabo, Lou Ferigno, to name just a few.

Posted by: Eric | August 26, 2008 8:37 PM

No CELEB can swing my vote.

Go McCain Go. Hillary 2012.

one word to describe Obamabots: petty

Posted by: cheri | August 26, 2008 8:14 PM

Who cares about these senile old fart celebrities. Gary Sinise is the only name I recognize on the list anyway. I guess the rest of them are old fossils that have been around since movies were invented, and Sinise must have premature Altziemers disease or was hit over the head recently. Only a washed up old fart would be ignorant enough to vote for a president who is too senile to remember how many houses he owns and does not know how to send an e-mail. McCain belongs in a nursing home, not the White House.

Posted by: Anonymous | August 26, 2008 7:12 PM

You know, some of you are really petty. Obviously Obama Kool-aid drinkers. It's better to have been a "once was" than a "never was" like you losers. Many of these people are known to millions. How many people know you?

Posted by: Patriot | August 26, 2008 6:24 PM

Actually, Academy Award winner Robert Duvall is also reportedly supporting McCain.

By the way, Jon Voight is also recognizable to most audiences from his roles in "Ali," "Transformers," and "National Treasure." He also is an Academy Award winner.

All ten of those `celebrities' are deep down the B-list. I reckon his POW prison guards are better known.

Posted by: Andrew | August 26, 2008 4:45 PM

===========================================

Really? I'll give that on some of them but Gary Sinise? Angie Harmon? Sehorn? Those are pretty legit names.

Mind you, that in terms of celbrity, they're no Barack Obama.....

"That's because all of McCain's children are spoiled losers..."

All of McCain's sons have served in the military.

His youngest son is an enlisted Marine infantryman, 0300, who has already served one tour in Iraq.

But facts don't matter when you want to vote for Obama

Glad to see that washed up loser Lorenzo Lamas could take time off striping for old ladies in vegas. He must be a big fan of John McCain, another male gigolo who stuck it big with beer heiress Cindy Hensley.

Every politician trots out their family for show. Just because the RNC didn't happen first doesn't mean that he isn't going to trot out his kids.

Posted by: Anonymous | August 26, 2008 3:56 PM

hahahaha really? those are the celebrities that came out? who else, Ace from Real World: Paris? The actresses from Wings? make Huckabee your VP, maybe you can get Chuck Norris too. hilarious

Posted by: christopherranda | August 26, 2008 3:54 PM

Every candidate on every level will trot their kids out for waving to the crowd.

It's another thing entirely, to put them on microphone and have a 'telephone call' to them on stage. That's exploitation.

And to the Democrats/Liberals throwing lies about Sen. McCain's children, realize that you're pulling pages from President Bush's dirty playbook from 2000.

Posted by: Observer | August 26, 2008 3:47 PM

Celebrities? Has anyone even heard of any of these people?!

Posted by: CRAIG NEBRASKA | August 26, 2008 3:45 PM

McCain never condemned celebrities who support Barack Obama. He just said that all Obama is, is a celebrity. He's not presidential material, except on maybe a tv show.

Posted by: Dan | August 26, 2008 3:30 PM

"That's because all of McCain's children are spoiled losers and one of them might very well be his biracial offspring from black woman, probably a maid."

That would be Barack Obama, no? Which explains a lot.

Luke, come to the dark side.

Posted by: JL | August 26, 2008 3:09 PM

John McCain hasn't been ON in prime time yet ... are you kidding me? His kids were always on the platform during the primaries, except the Bangladeshi adoptee was a little less visible ... hmmm. Did anybody notice that in the Hensley fortune distribution in her will she's leaving 7.3% of the $100 million to her "natural born" children, 6.8% to her step-son.... and 4.3% to Bridget the Bangladeshi. Yeah... family values allright.... btw check out this hilarious cindy parody...

Sen McCain didn't exploit his children on prime time.

Posted by: Observer | August 26, 2008 2:28 PM

John McCain is the only vietnam vet to milk his POW status to buy seven houses for himself. McCain is proof being captured by the enemy can be good and very profitable.

Posted by: playa | August 26, 2008 2:21 PM

Hey, I just heard a rumor that John McCain was a POW. Can anyone confirm?

Also, I heard that John McCain, former POW, thinks Obama is a celebrity. Was that before or after John McCain, who was a POW, appeared in the movie Wedding Crashers?

One last thing -- is the John McCain, the former POW, the same John McCain posing for pictures with the botoxed-and-surgically stitched former star of the long-gone show "Everyone Loves Raymond"?

Wow, John McCain a POW? Gosh, who knew?

Except for Gary Sinise what a bunch of has-beens.

Posted by: Anonymous | August 26, 2008 1:57 PM

Let me get this straight, because it's a little confusing. Obama is nothing more than a celebrity and everything he says and does should be discounted? But I should think even more highly of John McCain because a celebrity endorsed him? Oh...ok...Just a bit hypocritical...but...ok, I get it.

Posted by: gwt301 | August 26, 2008 1:44 PM

He should get the actress that played Jan Brady, Eve Plumb. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!

Posted by: Anonymous | August 26, 2008 1:32 PM

You call those celebrities. McCain wishes he had the support of real celebrities, not just old stars of the re-run shows. But hey, he wants to keep fighting the battles of the 60's. Bring on the culture wars.

You know, when he was a prisoner of the N. Vietnamese for 5 years, he didn't get to watch those TV shows!

Posted by: thebob.bob | August 26, 2008 1:18 PM

You know John McCain spent 5 and a half years without celebrities whether C-list or not. He also spent five and a half years without sound health care or a mortgage so our nation of whiners needs to toughen up. Did I mention McCain was a POW for 5 and a half years?
