DNC Wants Reporters Prepped for St. Paul

By Garance Franke-Ruta
DENVER -- Barack Obama has not yet given his acceptance speech here at the Democratic National Convention, but DNC organizers are already helping journalists look ahead to next week, passing out "A Survival Kit for Reporters" to those heading to St. Paul for the Republican convention that starts there Monday.

The kit contains a computer flash drive filled with "The McCain Files," for handy access to oppo research, a map listing DNC counterprogramming events around St. Paul (including a daily breakfast), PayDay and 100Grand candy bars, Extra Strength Tylenol caplets and a roll of Tums regular strength antacid.

Also included in the pack is a button using the McCain campaign's star logo on a blue background with, in white print, "Ask Me How Many Houses I Own," a series of DNC memos about McCain, and -- for the plane flight ahead, perhaps -- three McCain-themed crossword puzzles.

It is indeed amusing that you believe the stereotypes instead of acknowledging that both parties care primarily about getting reelected.

Nothing will fundamentally change because both McCain and Obama are beholden to big money corporate interests.

Or did you choose to ignore how the corporate democratic reporters had the news team arrested when they filmed the sordid mess.

The amazing part isn't that it happens, it's that most of you still buy the official Democrats/caring Republicans/evil line. It's very sad.

uhh.. for you guys arguing about the "are you in it for Hillary or are you in it for the greater good of the whole country" that's not saying much. if you're voting purely by party lines you guys are stupid. that applies more to the leftists. everyone is pissed at what bush has done; that's part of the reason so many republicans are crossing lines. if you're going on practicality then bob barr or ralph nader would be better than obama or mccain. given that those two won't win then you go with the lesser of two evils which is mccain since obama has moved from far leftists to a more moderate stance in the last 4 months solely for political reasons. damn.. no competent candidates out there.

BIG GIRL PANTIES

I see that the McCain trolls are out. Geez, you guys are so predictable. You bi.tc.hes are just not funny though.

Hillary has moved on because Hillary is a big girl. The rest of you need your Big Girl Panties, and need to be Big Girls and Boys. Do we need to start with toilet training? more than likely yes.

Obama is going to win in November, and all you will have is a 2 month-long case of bile and sour stomach. Oh, poor babies!!

Get in step, Mainstream Media. Your DNC masters have issued orders. Besides fawning over Obama, while cops are locking up an ABC reporter investigating corporate money bagman and DNC lobbyists, you look the other way.

Welcome to the ObamaNation. Abortion on demand, freedom of speech for all but the extreme Left suspended, Farm Bill subsidies, union payoffs, and special interest control.

You brought us here. Ignored Edwards, torpedoed Hillary, lavish praise on Urkel/Obama, and slandered McCain.

Get in step. Or your journalist job is next on the chopping block.

Obama won't do much about universal health care.
John Kerry has already said it's dead on arrival in the Senate.

Dems for McCain - NO Hussein!

>>>>If Clinton was "conned into" giving up her delegates, what does that say about her ability?

Hillary wasn't conned! She did the noble thing - and displayed much more character than Obama has.
Obama allowed the convention to be corrupted with a sham roll call vote. In previous conventions the roll call vote is a biggie - with ALL states getting an opportunity to hype their states features, elected officials, etc.

Delegates should be allowed to vote for the candidates they were elected to represent!

Obama had the most delegates - but he and Pelosi were too insecure to allow democracy to prevail!

This latest corruption by the Dem Party guarantees this Dem family is voting for McCain.

Nonstory. The only way the RNC convention would be interesting is if they drop everything and find the nearest minority person out in town, drag him into the convention hall and nominate the unqualified, unvetted confused guy to be the "Historic First (pick one: Hispanic, Black, Asian, Indian) Presidential Nominee".

GFR:

That's a wonderful peek inside how the really rotten sausage is made, but is there any chance your bosses would let you do something approaching real reporting? For instance, has BHO's habit of lying extended to their oppo research? Recall that the BHO campaign deleted a whole sentence from a quote in order to make someone look bad, without noting in any way that they'd edited the quote:

http://24ahead.com/blog/archives/007909.html

Is that bit about the author of the anti-BHO book in there? If it is, could you ask the campaign why they'd do that? If it isn't, maybe you could spot something else.

I will vote for Obama--albeit with far less enthusiasm than I would for Hillary Clinton as Democratic nominee.

Nevertheless, how you people in the media matter-of-fact and without calms report on the Obama machine's manipulation of you, the news media, is quite--to put it mildly-- breathtakingly appalling in spite of my long knowledge of the MSM's biases in terms of parties, gender, race, etc. seems above the well-established benchmarks.

Any chance we mere mortals can get a peek at the McCain crossword puzzles? They could be hilarious.

Posted by: Curious | August 27, 2008 8:19 PM

Twin Peaks- If Clinton was "conned into" giving up her delegates, what does that say about her ability? If Obama is so green and Clinton so wise, can you explain how Clinton's campaign managed to stumble so badly? Face it- the more you run down Obama, the more you are saying that an inferior candidate was able to beat Clinton- is that what you really believe?

twin_peaks_nikki.

Nice use of the word "bitter" and "leftists" in what is obviously a crass bit of agitprop! Although your user name suggests you are a female I suspect you're a 30 something guy sitting in your mom's basement churning out these emails and bellowing for your mom to bring you more Hot Pockets.

Way to Go ManassasMama! The Rational meets the Post-Rational!

Nikki - do you CARE about keeping your own body's choices to yourself?

Do you CARE about improvements in health care (we're wayyyyyyy down on the list when we once were #1)

Do you CARE about sending all our tax dollars (yes we will always have to pay taxes...unless we make enough so we have minions to get us out of paying any) on propping up Big Oil and Big Gas?

Do you CARE about public school education?

Do you CARE about the things Hillary championed?

It is time to move on and get with the future. She's going to be the most powerful Senate Majority Leader we've EVER had...which if you really understand government, you will understand is probably a position to get those ideas put into law faster than simply being the President who signs it into law.

Twinpeaks,

What chracteristics constitute "fit to lead?"

Posted by: DcNative | August 27, 2008 7:53 PM

Twin peaks: Get over it. Hillary said it best: Are you in it for Hillary/yourself or are you in it for the greater good of the whole country? Face it: There was very little difference in the Obama/Clinton positions for the party. I was a Hillary supporter, a strong supporter with my work and my pocketbook. It's time to move on and beat McCain!

Posted by: ManassasMama | August 27, 2008 7:50 PM

I am so bitter and angry that Hillary was conned into giving up her delegates. Hillary is entitled to the nomination and the presidency. She is fit to lead (and Obama Barack is not) because Hillary understands that it is the reality-based-community of angry, bitter leftists who will have the ultimate say in who wins this fall.
