A Ballgame and a Slow Day for McCain

By Michael D. Shear
PHOENIX -- Now, it's McCain's turn to take it easy.

His rival, Sen. Barack Obama, just came back from a week in Hawaii. And the looming GOP convention will no doubt be a tiring whirlwind, especially for a candidate who really doesn't like speeches.

So perhaps McCain deserved an afternoon off, at the ballgame.

The Republican nominee spent the afternoon at the Chase Stadium, where he took in the game between his Arizona Diamondbacks and the Florida Marlins, though he did not stay for the entire game. McCain left in the bottom of the 7th inning, with his team trailing 3-2. But during the national anthem, there was McCain on the jumbotron, sitting next to Olympic beach volleyball champ Misty May Trainor and the CEO of the D-Backs.

Earlier, McCain attended the North Phoenix Baptist Church, arriving just in time for the 10:30 service with about 1,000 people.

The service, which McCain attended with his wife, Cindy, and his daughter Bridget, was uneventful. But the pastor, Dan Yeary, did show a clip from the Saddleback Forum earlier in the month. There, on a big screen, was none other than John McCain, talking about his own greatest moral failure -- the failure of his marriage.

Yeary said the answers represented a "seminal moment" in the campaign.

Simple question: If Obama is for providing healthcare to all America's children, why is he against providing medical attention to infants who survive a failed abortion attempt? He voted against the Infant Protection act in Illinois and lied about it....stupidity? I think not....morally bankrupt....probably so.

How about page A13 of TODAY's New York Times? Biden and MBNA? How about corn ethanol and the Infant Protection Act?...
Your candidate is for the former and against the latter....It's not out of stupidity, so is he corrupt, morally bankrupt or both? how about an intelligent answer????????????????

Nah Nope, what struggles in AZ for John McCain? Rasmussen has him up over Obama (may his name be praised) by 19 percentage points 57 - 38. Obama (the blessed one) is ahead by only 15 in his home state of Illinois according to Rasmussen, the best poller in the business.

I see a lot on links on here and I never look at them myself because most are just silly attacks from one side or another. But sit down and watch this. It may give you pause to think.

Activists accused McCain of stonewalling the release of POW records because they contained evidence he had collaborated with the North Vietnamese.

You really have taken your cue fro John (Little Hitler) Mccain well. Just repeat a lie over and over till it begins to stick. Mccain when questioned just last week on one of the things I sighted used to old, "That was over 30 years ago, I don't think about that anymore". John just thinks time hides things, He is still not up the google and youtube abd so on . You can't just lie and get away with it regardless how often you repeat the lie. There is a very good chance because I know they are working on it. That Mccains records will be obtained from the Vietnamese before November. Transcripts and maybe even the original recordings of mccains propaganda tapes. They will not just end his presidential campaign but is political career as well. He will be the OJ Simpson of politics. They are getting them either way it is just a matter of when. Should he be elected it could end his presidency with impeachment so be sure if you vote for him he has a good VP.

You are going to tell me you prefer for your president. A man who provided flight paths and altitudes of planes that it is believe resulted in the downing of American 16 planes. A man who traded with the enemy for years for his own comfort. A phony hero who can't account for any of his medals. Who has gone to great lengths to keep any records of his time as a POW hidden. And of course we know he loves to talk about being a POW, just not everything.

A man without the intellect to even graduate without his father stepping in a man who finished 894 of 899 in his class. A man who spent most all of his young life as a drunk, confirmed by virtually everybody who knew him? A man who in his own book says he cheated on his wife dozens of times, he doesn't even know haw many because he was drinking so heavily at the time. Oh, by the way, you will have to track down an original copy the book, it has been completely altered in following printings but some are still around. Reinventing his past with lies has been the hallmark of John Mccain life.

I personally think one of his worst attributes is, he doesn't give a sh&t about anyone but himself. When his wife was whacked out on drugs for several years it took her family to intervene before she killed herself. She did get cleaned up but through no help from here husband who later said, " I had no idea she was doing drugs". You believe that? He could have cared less if she died of an overdose. Maybe he secretly wished for it. I think that whole episode in their lives tells you more about John Mccain then anything.

His whole past is just the story of a failure, a man who has depended on others to bails him out his whole life. A man who never accomplished a thing on his own, ever.
Even his father-in-law bought him his political career. He lived off his wife for years. It really is just a matter how dirty Obama wants to get. John Mccain is a sewer of bad deeds his whole life. How about his misuse of his office to get a prosecutor fired who was trying to put his wife in jail. Then having to may the guys millions in a law suit later.

Yea, John Mccain, an American hero of his own invention. By the way, lets not even get into Plagiarism. We already know about the "Cross in the sand" and the lies about his wife and Mother Teresa he even repeated on live TV in a church. What Obama and Biden have on this guy they will use over the next few months and it will be brutal

They will rip what is left of his little arms completely off and beat him silly with them. Obama said the other day, "John Mccain does not know what he has gotten himself into" and I believe him. I think the gloves are off.

Not true. The property was sold for a $54,000 profit and is on the market right now for 1.4 million. You can just make things up but there are public records

-----------
Nadhmi Auchi, Saddham Hussein's money launderer in London lent Tony Rezko 3 million dollars. He lent his wife half to buy the land next to Obama's house. The house was on a larger proerty that Obama had the owner subdivide, so Rezko could simultaneously purchase the land next to the house and Obama's parcel. Obama underppaid for his house/parcel, while Rezko's wife, who has a modest salary overpaid for hers. Then Obama bought 1/6th of the adjacent land, leaving the remaining land too small to build on, thereby leaving it a park that someone else paid the taxes on, further raising the value of his property. Now That's a housing problem. It was front page news in the Chicago sun Times...look it up.

The property is for sale or may have already sold for 1.5 million. They didn't do Obama a favor. The property was under valued and they got a good deal on it because it was sold as a package with the Obama house. Obama did them a favor bringing them into the deal

The truth about Rezko

. A few months after Obama became a U.S. senator, he and Rezko's wife, Rita, bought adjacent pieces of property from a doctor in Chicago's Kenwood neighborhood -- a deal that has dogged Obama the last two years. The doctor sold the mansion to Obama for $1.65 million -- $300,000 below the asking price. Rezko's wife paid full price -- $625,000 -- for the adjacent vacant lot. The deals closed in June 2005. Six months later, Obama paid Rezko's wife $104,500 for a strip of her land, so he could have a bigger yard. At the time, it had been widely reported that Tony Rezko was under federal investigation. Questioned later about the timing of the Rezko deal, Obama called it "boneheaded" because people might think the Rezkos had done him a favor.

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/rezko_reality.html--------
On December 31, 2005 it was reported that Rezko was under federal investigation for influence peddling.

This investigation it was reported was lead by U.S attorney Patrick Fitzgerald.

So what does Obama do the following month in January. Obama asks Rezko to build a fence which Rezko pays for and Obama asks him to allow him to buy 1/6th of his lot so he can have a bigger yard.

No normal person could buy 1/6th of the lot because it makes the rest of the lot far less valuable. In the past Obama had written letters that got Rezko 14 million.

The previous March the chicago tribune reported that Rezko had illegally used a minority front contractor to buy 3 food chain restaurants in the chicago airport.

Obama then on January 23, 2008 went on Good Morning America and lied saying he had no inkling Rezko had any problems. This was at the height of the dem primaries when Obama was on the ropes.

Then months later when the superdelegates were going to give him the nomination he said he was aware of the federal investigation for influence peddling on Rezko and was aware of the front for minority business contracts. Obama even himself said he called Rezko about it. Obama lied to the american people in the height of the primaries saying no one could have had any inkling Rezko had any problems.

Any other candidate besides Obama would have been run out of the primaries. The media would have done in depth reporting and exposed Obama.

But MSNBC and the rest of the MSM doesn't report bad information about Obama.

Every word Clinton said was investigated but Obama's relationship with Rezko wasn't focused on.

To this day the Washington Post is covering up for Obama about Rezko.

Obama has never been asked to explain his lie on good morning america saying no one could have had any inkling about Rezko.

To Gator:

Obama bought land from Rezko while Rezko was under federal investigaton for influence peddling.

Obama bought 1/6th of the lot from rezko making the rest of the lot less valuable.

Rezko did Obama a huge a favor.

Without Rezko Obama could have never bought the house to begin with.

Rezko had been in the chicago papers as a crook for 3 years.

How can Obama lead the justice department when he thought it was ok to do a land deal with someone under federal investigation for influence peddling.

Obama then went on Good morning america and lied saying there was no inkling of any problems with rezko.

Later Obama said he did know about the federal investigation and called Rezko about it.

Obama lied about it during the heat of the dem primaries in late january on good morning america.

If the media ever reported in depth the rezko story Obama would be out of politics.

JakeD, you really are pompous. You can conceive of having so many houses you can't remember them. What is more your response is absurd and disingenuous, just like McCain's statement that he did not know how many he had was absurd and misleading.

So your point is that McCain owns so many homes that he can't count them? Or is it is so many that the people are not even aware of all of them so he withholds the information?

Your suggestion that homes are like socks is saying you and McCain are both not in touch with the lives of ordinary Americans.

Hey Abomination: Where's your apology for your candidate's opposition to the Infant Protection Act and lying to cover up?
Where's your explanation for his support of global warming corn ethanol that raises food prices over sugar cane ethanol that's 8 times more efficient?
No, you'd rather smear a war hero....as the Gallup daily polls show McCain steadily rising- tied today...keep it up...about as true as your VP candidate's "Masters Degree"

John McCain's Radio Address today

Good morning, this is John McCain, speaking to you at the end of an eventful week in the presidential campaign. All the talk today is about my opponent's selection of his running mate. To his new running mate, my congratulations and I'll get back to you real soon on your debating opponent.

The week began with a debate of sorts between Senator Obama and me at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. In case you missed it, the discussion yielded the line of the week, and maybe even of the campaign, when Pastor Rick Warren asked my opponent a very serious question. He wanted to know at what point, in my opponent's view, does a baby have human rights? Senator Obama thought about it for a moment, and came back with the reply that the question was, quote, "above my pay grade."

Here was a candidate for the presidency of the United States, asked for his position on one of the central moral and legal questions of our time, and this was the best he could offer: It's above his pay grade. He went on to assure his interviewer that there is a, quote, "moral and ethical element to this issue." Americans expect more of their leaders.

There seems to be a pattern here in my opponent's approach to many hard issues. Whether it's the surge in Iraq that has brought us near to victory, or the issue of campaign reform, or the question of offshore drilling, Senator Obama's speeches can be impressive. But when it's time for straight answers, clear conviction, and decisive action, suddenly all of these responsibilities are - well, as he puts it, "above my pay grade." As mottos of leadership go, it doesn't exactly have the ring of "the buck stops here."

Often, too, Senator Obama's carefully hedged answers obscure more than they explain, and this was the case in his conversation with Rick Warren. Listening to my opponent at Saddleback, you would never know that this is a politician who long since left behind any middle ground on the abortion issue. He is against parental notification laws, and against restrictions on taxpayer funding for abortions. In the Illinois Senate, a bipartisan majority passed legislation to prevent the horrific practice of partial-birth abortion. Senator Obama opposed that bill, voting against it in committee and voting "present" on the Senate floor.

In 2002, Congress unanimously passed a federal law to require medical care for babies who survive abortions - living, breathing babies whom Senator Obama described as, quote, "previable." This merciful law was called the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. Illinois had a version of the same law, and Barack Obama voted against it.

At Saddleback, he assured a reporter that he'd have voted "yes" on that bill if it had contained language similar to the federal version of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. Even though the language of both the state and federal bills was identical, Senator Obama said people were, quote, "lying" about his record. When that record was later produced, he dropped the subject but didn't withdraw the slander. And now even Senator Obama's campaign has conceded that his claims and accusations were false.

For a man who talks so often about "hope," Senator Obama doesn't offer much of it in meeting this great challenge to the conscience of America. His extreme advocacy in favor of partial birth abortion and his refusal to provide medical care for babies surviving abortion should be of grave concern to reasonable people of goodwill on both sides of this issue. There is a growing consensus in America that we need to overcome narrow partisanship on this issue for both women in need and the unborn. We need more of the compassion and moral idealism that my opponent's own party, at its best, once stood for. No one is above the law, and no one is beneath its protection.

Upholding these principles, and bringing Americans together on the side of life, is the work of leadership. And I can assure you that if I am president, advancing the cause of life will not be above my pay grade. Thanks for listening.

John McCain, a U.S. Senator from Arizona, is the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

Like I said, my point is that I probably wouldn't have remembered either. Quick, without looking, how many pairs of socks do you own?

Posted by: JakeD | August 24, 2008 10:38 PM | Report abuse

If my wife was worth $100 million, and the houses were all legally in her name, I probably wouldn't remember how many houses she had either. So, yes, I believe him. I am still voting for him.

Posted by: JakeD | August 24, 2008 10:03 PM

Is your point that is OK to be out of touch if you live off your wife? Or is it ok to be deceitful if you don't own the homes legally? Or does he own them illegally?

Please advise.

McCain said that he did not know how many homes he had. Do you believe him?

No, then why would you want him as president when you know there will be another dissembler in the White House?

Yes. He is not able to remember the number of houses. He has shown other failures of memory with some frequency. Does it really matter whether he is lying, forgetful or just out of touch, he does not deserve the presidency.

McCain does not need time off because he does not feel compelled to answer questions he reall should know the answer to.

Interesting tid bit. Obama is a masterful poker player, tournament level. Mccain like to play craps when he is in a casino. I don't know what that says, but it's interesting.

How much did he wager on the game? Maybe the press could ask him how much cash he blows when he hits Vegas? Naah, wouldn't want to jeopardize the barbecue invites to the Sedona Ranch compound.

McCain's greatest moral failure was not the failure of his first marriage as he said, but rather the failure of him to behave like a moral person. The two may sound the same but only the latter accepts responsibility for his failing, the former is vague and wishy-washy that is not characteristic of Mr McCain.
