Gasolina! Daddy Yankee Endorses McCain

By Michael D. Shear
PHOENIX -- The high school girls standing on the risers behind Sen. John McCain looked like any high school girls would during a talk by someone Paris Hilton might describe as "a white-haired dude." They clapped politely.

And then, when McCain introduced his special guest, they freaked out. They gasped. They put their hands over their mouths. They screamed.

Daddy Yankee, one of the country's top Latino music stars, strode out, wearing mirrored sunglasses. A Puerto Rican reggaeton recording artist, he appeared next to McCain to endorse the Republican nominee and perhaps give him a boost with Hispanic voters.

But for the girls, all that -- and McCain -- was beside the point. What they thought was going to be a boring, political event was suddenly way cool. Yankee turned and hugged a few of the girls, who put their shaking arms around him.

He then endorsed McCain, saying that "I believe in his ideals and his proposals to lead this nation" and that McCain was the best "fighter for the immigration issue."

McCain stood with Yankee in a downtown Phoenix high school that his wife, Cindy McCain, had attended as the Democratic Party opened the first day of its national convention. Daddy Yankee will be flying on the straight talk air today to California.

"I just want to say thank you Daddy Yankee," said McCain, who also referred to him as Ramon, since his given name is Ramon Ayala. McCain said Yankee has been married 15 years, had grown up poor in Puerto Rico and made "the right choice" in life.

Daddy Yankee is a hugely popular artist among Spanish speakers in the United States. His 2007 album, El Cartel: The Big Boss, was the most popular record in all Latin music categories, according to Billboard Magazine.

McCain aides have said they plan to target Hispanic voters during this election, and Yankee has the potential to help.

Yet Yankee is also an odd match for the straight-laced McCain. His hit song, "Gasolina," might appear at first to support McCain's call for more offshore oil drilling. But the song is not an ode to the kind of energy McCain usually talks about. It is about hot women, sex and cars, whose meaning is far less innocent in Puerto Rican slang.

"She likes gasoline (give me more gasoline!) ... How she adores gasoline! (give me more gasoline)" Yankee sings, according to one translation. "For women who don't turn off their engines...You and I we have something pending."

Later today, McCain heads to Los Angeles, where he will tape an appearance on the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno. Tomorrow, he plans a speech to the American Legion national convention before heading to San Diego for a fundraiser.

Attention will soon shift back to McCain's choice of a vice presidential running mate. From the reaction this morning, if 16-year-old Latino girls could vote, McCain might have given more thought to a McCain-Yankee ticket.

I think he lives here so he is able to vote...

Daddy yankee could vote, he is Puerto Rican and Puerto Rico is part of the United States. He is a smart person but personally he just lowered his intelligence with his choice. He is a "Barrio" person from el caserio in P.R, but I think all the money he's earned has gotten to his head and haS learned that voting Republican will only get him richer and leave us middle and lower class people sufferring another 4 years! I love his music, but im in shock. I guess money gets to even people who were poor before and could only afford eggs and rice to eat everyday.

Is Daddy Yankee an actual citizen?? He was not born here, but I cant find anything on his citizenship

the mayority of the girls in there are latinas and that is probably why MAccain has no shame of bringging a guy that sings trash. Im sure he would not bring someone like that into an all white rich High School. " Maccain probably thinks that latinos are trash therefore he should give us trash to get our votes"
My daugther is about to become a teenager and never in a million years would I buy her such music. I made the mistake of getting pregnant as a teenager and I will never support a candidate and a singer that promote promiscuity.
Los dos me dan asco pero mas Daddy Yankee porque es ovio que no le interesa para nada lo valores de la gente que lo convirtio en lo que es hoy.

So McCain's idea of family values is showing woman-hating pornography to high school girls?

That's typical R party for you.

Disgusting old letch/fart.

Gasolina is a song about a woman wanting sperm and ejaculate!

Hey, his spokesperson/staff said Gasolina is McCain’s favorite!

Makes sense! McCain is a womanizer! He cheated repeatedly on his first wife before they divorced because she got disfigured in a car accident and put on a ton of weight. He dated Cindy for months and married her BEFORE he was divorced from his first wife!

So McCain welcomes the endorsement of a man who uses sexually explicit and offensive lyrics to sell albums, poses with him at a high school and nobody has a problem with this? It's one thing if Daddy Yankee just announced on his own that he supported McCain. It's another thing for McCain to pose with the guy at a high school to get votes. I mean, that's disgusting.

Here you all go...Sounds like alternative energy to me. Would it qualify as "geothermal"?

A few explanations before we start.
reggaeton is a genre of music. this song falls under that genre.
"una gata" is a babe.
"una zorra" is a girl who gets all the men she wants exactly where she wants them, whenever she wants. you know, like me.
the whole gasoline thing is a metaphor for something dirty. im sure you can imagine it.
ok, enjoy.

Gasolina - Daddy Yankee
Da - ddy Yan- kee !
shake it mambo so that my cat (cat = babe) can turn on the engine,
shake it mambo so that my cat (cat = babe) can turn on the engine,
shake it mambo so that my cat (cat = babe) can turn on the engine,

Get ready, because whats coming is to give it to her, (hard!
Mamita, I know that you aren't going to take away (hard!)
What I like is that you let yourself get taken away (hard!)
every weekend she goes out to have fun (hard!)
my cat doesn't stop hanging out because

She likes gasoline (give me more gasoline!)
How she loves gasoline (give me more gasoline!) 2x

The turns on the turbine
she doesn't discriminate
She doesn't even miss a fancy dress dinner
She gets dressed up even to go to the corner store
She wears things so well that even shadow favors her
assasin, she dominates me
she hangs out in cars, motorcycles, and limousines,
she fills her tank with adrenaline,
when she listen to reggaeton in the kitchen

She likes gasoline (give me more gasoline!)
How she loves gasoline (give me more gasoline!) 2x

(me!) Here I'm one of the best
Don't leave me
On the track they call us "the killers"
You make anyone fall in love
when you dance to the rhythm of the drums
this goes out to cats (cats = babes) of all colors
for the older ones, for the younger ones,
for those who are more foxy (foxy = player) that the hunters
for the women who never turn off their engines

You and I have something coming
you owe me something and you know it
with me, she loses herself,
she doesn't surrender explanations to anyone 2x

shake it mambo so that my cat (cat = babe) can turn on the engine,
shake it mambo so that my cat (cat = babe) can turn on the engine,
shake it mambo so that my cat (cat = babe) can turn on the engine,

first, did anyone tell the republicans Gasolina means giving a girl your "sperm". The whole song is about "filling up a girl's tank with your gasoline".... the song is all about sex.... why would a republican pick daddy yankee a REGGAETON artist?? I don't mind the music but the artist nor the music is parallel to what JOHN MCCAIN is offering which is values and decency.

Posted by: Daddy Yankee Gasolina song is perverted | August 26, 2008 5:23 PM | Report abuse

Ridiculous. This "rapper" endorsed McCain because of his stance on immigration? Give me a break. Obama has the same, even better, stance on immigration; especially the DREAM Act. When it was time to vote for cloture, McCain was nowhere to be found while Obama was there, front and center, in support of the bill. Daddy Yankee obviously does not do his research.

And I'm so tired of these so-called Hillary supporters who are thinking of voting for McCain in November. If they do, they will have no right to complain about the next 4 years. Hillary is 100% behind Obama, as they have pretty much the same views on everything. She didn't win, get over it already.

And one more thing, Obama's middle name is Hussein. So what? Is there really that much hatred in the world and in the U.S that people won't vote for a candidate because of his middle name? The ignorance of some people amazes me.

This 'entertainer' Daddy Yankee is a producer of misogynistic videos. The Gasolina video has nothing to do with cars and gasoline, it's about women who liked to be covered in something, the lyrics 'dame mas gasolina' and she's indiscriminate don't mean 'give me more gasolie'.

And 'gatas' doesn't mean 'cat', either.

Any kid from the barrio can tell you this is a filthy song.

Sampling some of this 'entertainers' other videos show again women half disrobing and lyrics that are not about things you'd want your daughter doing anytime soon.

To top it all off, being seen in a high school having teenage girls swooning over this 'star' is about as close to having jail bait on the trail.

Someone on John McCain's staff obviously cannot figure out nuance - the Hispanics in the US that MIGHT vote for him are typically very religious and socially conservative. I seriously doubt they'll be thrilled to see Daddy Yankee and John McCain together.

McCain can't tell Sunni from Shia, and cannot figure out who might support him in the Hispanic community.

This man wants to lead the most powerful nation on the planet, and he has shown time and again he is totally clueless; sometimes it's matter of life and death, as in the case of Sunni and Shia .. this time, it shows how pathetic and out of touch he is.

So John McCain, what's next?
An endorsement from Buck Cherry?
Or how about just a "bad, bad girlfriend?"

Daddy Yankee is what in PR (Puerto Rico, just in case you Republicans didn't know) we call a 'caco', cacos represent the willfully stupid and ghetto wannabe social class that are sadly destroying Puerto Ricans' image. They are sexist, profane, uneducated, disrespectful, uncultured and lack family and social values.
The fact that he would support McCain for immigration issues is completely illogical, he is betraying our hispanic brethren and that is unforgiveable. Hopefully bringing them together will bring them both crashing down faster.

I'm Puerto Rican and I'm voting for McCain but I still don't like Daddy Yankee.

Puerto Rico, much like the rest of mainland USA, is pretty much 50-50 between McCain and Obama.

I asked my 15 year old son and daughter about Daddy Yankee and gasolina and what that songs title means they both knew and squirmed around and finally talked about how it is a sexual innuendo. I am in my 40's and we certainly had songs with innuendo but I can't remember prince or some of those guys making joint appearances with presidential candidates. I find it an interesting choice that they appeared together at a high school. What family values was he supporting and wasn't he upset about Madonna and spinning it against Dems and yet everyone knows Madonna loves publicity and controversy but it was not a joint appearance. Something done on her own for her benefit.

One other thing I find interesting is that John McCains wife is on her way to Georgia to meet with the president over charity issues. How loud would Fox news squeal like the little pigs they are if Michelle Obama made a trip like this.

Burn all the (Yankee?) more appropriate Rebel-Daddy (white wanna be) cd's. I will certainly do so because this barrio/hood boy just endorsed someone who can't even pronounce his name correctly. Worse yet, I bet he will never be invited to have dinner with the McCbushes at any of their seven homes. No, I don't think this crazy daddy was drinking baccardi..that would be understandable, however, he knew exactly what he is doing..trying to appeal to a segment of the populate he will never fully reach because they despise the likes of him. Traitor, ignorant, and yes stupid what were you thinking. You shame the rest of the Latino community with your careless act...yes giving more reasons to the redness to laugh at us.

um truthtellerfeller, this may be off topic too, but what are you talking about? i've read my bible, many times, done studies on it, jesus may have been liberal in relevance with the jewish customs of his time, yes look at their practices, it wasn't from the law God gave them but from traditions and nit picking that they did, but i don't think that's a reason to say he's the most liberal person of all time. i have a problem with oprah because she promotes a lot of bull that is just new age fiction. obama has her support, yet he claims to be a real christian, and he went to a church whose pastor was on tv ranting about black liberation theology, what the crap, seriously. that's not christianity, that's just racisim. it makes me very upset that so many people say they're christians and yet they don't even try to live according to the bible, they buy into new age crud, they buy into the whole, well everyone is going to heaven crap. show me someone who knows what they're talking about please, show me in the bible where jesus was the most liberal person of all time, show me your arguments for all this stuff and i'll show you you're wrong. and by the way, mccain isn't really better, i'm not supporting him necessarily, my vote isn't going to obama either though, and not just cuz of religion, it's not his race, it's his views, look at the issues, do some research, stop buying into the media and look at his history in voting, how he wants to give out free stuff. that's the start of our demise, just look at what happened to rome, look at the similarities and you'll see the parallels. people are blind, asleep, or just not opening their eyes. oh and i know i had terrible grammar and spelling but i'm too lazy to fix it.

My fav. song. Gasolina is Puerto Rican slang referring to CARS when several friends or a girlfriends ride together, cruising around. (gasolina means car). Of course it also sometimes means rum alcohol, in San Juan. I have to believe Daddy Yankee tho when he said a meaning to him is Energy Independence. Its his song so he can say. Mccain is liberal on immigration more than many republicans. Its good he is friends with a reggaetonista like Daddy Yankee. !Viva Puerto Rico!!!!!

There is a major error in this news story and it is that Daddy Yankee is being referred to as a rapper. I am not a fan of the genre by any measure, but I do know how to distinguish between rappers and pop stars. By the way, I am Hispanic myslef and could not loathe Ramon any more than I do. I hope his music is pirated so heavily as to force him out of the "industry" that exists today.

The real problem here is that this guy is considered a "rapper". REAL rap, true, honest, and GOOD rap never gets media attention. And it never gets media attention because it isn't "POP RAP" like this bozo. I worry that rap is getting a bad name here, when it shouldn't. Rap has political and socio-economic ties that McSame is trying to "tap into" when he is really only tapping into the same conglomerate market: the music industries most profitable. It has nothing to do with quality (or DECENCY) here. Disgusting is RIGHT!

I think ALL MUSICIANS (real musicians) should be outraged. And all TRUE FANS of the music genre should be outraged. This is grotesque pandering to a level that should be abhorred.

Open Your Eyes writes: "Artificial move by the McCain party. They could care less about the minorities. Of course, some Hispanics will fall for this trap and now blindly vote for McCain."

Please tell me how much the Democrats care? They care so much that they continue to sell the same inner-city policies that failed in the '60s, failed some more in the '70s, failed again in the '90s and is failing again as we head into a new century. Because of liberal policies, a large portion of African Americans have had to deal with the same cycle of poverty decade after decade after decade. What the Democrats won't ever admit to is that they need African Americans to be poor, to feel exploited, to hold a grudge. Shameful.

Posted by: Roy | August 25, 2008 5:16 PM | Report abuse

Everyone here seems to know everything about the candidates. I wonder if any of these opinions are well educated.

Did McCain seek out Yankee or the other way around? How long have they known each other? What does Yankee feel about Obama? These answers were conveniently left out of the news.

It was supposed to just be a press conference, not any hype about it. Yankee says the two have known each other for two years. It was not as fixed as the media implies.

Yankee and Bartoshevich understand there is more to McCain than Obama claims. Bartoshevich details this in her interview as former Democratic delegate this year.

On a side note I know a Fulbright scholar and Iraqi woman who claims the majority of people in Iraq are happy to be free. The media never shows this. She is sad to see how Americans take their freedoms for granted.

McCain also survived 5 yrs as a POW, does that count for anything, or are you going to make another political joke of it?

Have you really looked at McCain's and Obama's voting record? High ranking conservatives wanted everyone but McCain in the primaries because he wasn't conservative enough. McCain is not the same as Bush, just look at their attitudes toward the environment. This is why we are not drilling in the Anwar right now.

Change is not always good, it can be bad. Obama hesitates when trying to say what exactly will be so new and different.

Political assault is propaganda.
Don't regurgitate...educate.

John McCain is soaring to new heights of hypocrisy on his wife's personal jet. He flies around the country bent on duping the public into believing he's "one of them," a regular guy who can empathize with Americans facing an overwhelming economic crush. What's more, he disparages those who oppose his ridiculous policy proposals as "elitist." But who's the real elitist?

The REAL McCain is a multimillionaire who owns ten luxurious homes. The REAL McCain backs President Bush's tax cuts for big corporations. The REAL McCain empathizes only with the interests of our nation's wealthy minority, not its money-strapped majority. But far too many are buying into McCain's deceit because the corporate press won't present the whole picture.

Posted by: ZappoDave | August 25, 2008 4:07 PM | Report abuse

McCain has so much wealth he has no concept of money—unless of course it's money from lobbyists and corporations or to buy more mansions. That's why at the Saddleback forum McCain ludicrously declared it takes $5 million to move from "middle class" to "rich." That's why he admitted economics isn't his strong suit and came up with a plan to sink our country even further into debt. And that's why he can't sympathize with Americans facing foreclosure, soaring gas prices, unemployment, and the daunting costs of health insurance. None of these problems register when you're living in a solid gold bubble like McCain, or however many gold bubbles he's living in.

I hate to disparage popular singers, but the only real issue of any substance or worth at all is this: Will anybody, no matter what party, be able to undo the damage that the GW Bush Republicans have done to the US Constitution? No other issue can even approach this one for its enormous importance...singers and rappers notwithstanding. If we can argue about silly popular stars and ignore the trampling of the Constitution, then we are truly, unredeemably, lost.

What are the chances that Senator Obama could have done the same with two black rappers such as Lil' Jon who popularized the slang "skeet skeet" or Soulja Boy who recently popularized "superman that --" without being taken to task by both the media and Hillary Clinton's female supporters? NONE! For those of you not familiar with these terms, 'gasolina' like 'skeet skeet' and 'superman that --' means to ejaculate, preferably on a woman's back or in her mouth. Yes, it's that vile, but John McCain gets a pass. Why? Because he's old? White?

Does anyone else think this is hilarious? Another desperate attempt by McCain to seem relevant. I can't wait to see who else they run out to try and steal thunder from the Democrats. I mean, come on Daddy Yankee & John McCain? There's never been a more awkward on-stage pairing in the history of human kind!

The scene is Yankee and McCain during prime time at the Republican National Convention: Yankee and entourage (read: scantily clad Latinas) pull up in a flashy foreign car, bounce around the stage and rap in incomprehensible Spanish (and you know the Republicans LOVE Spanish). Suddenly John emerges from the dark in sunglasses and baggy pants, pushed in a tricked out wheel chair by fly-girls. Yankee Raps. Cindy does the running man. John pops wheelies in his chair. All the Republicans in the hall join together and sing "da me mas gasolina" in unison. America is moved to tears!

Of course, preceding this "tribute to America" Ann Coulter will give a benediction praising the Lord and cursing everyone else. And then, yes then, all the Hispanics will want to vote for McCain! They'll say, "Wow, he's just like us! He would be a GREAT President."

Republicans may not be able to guarantee security, prosperity or really anything, BUT at least they'll be able to provide a good show. And this election is all about a good show, right Paris?

Posted by: King | August 25, 2008 2:43 PM | Report abuse

These kinds of attacks are really pointless. What has McCain done that's so impressive for someone who's been in the Senate 21 years?

I get tired of this nonsense. What's so stupid about it is bashing one candidate with no mention of how the other candidate is any better in that regard. It's a contest, folks. One these two guys is going to be our next president. Pointing out flaws in one candidate is pointless and irrational unless you can show how the other candidate is better, which you obviously haven't done.

As for what Obama's done:

- He managed to graduate from college ranked higher than 894th out of 899.

- He managed marry a very intelligent, strong woman who graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law School, and stay married to her. McCain left his wife and married hot looking, rich heiress who had been a cheerleader and got her BA in education and MA in special education from USC, so if you think the nod goes to McCain there you probably also think he should pick Paris Hilton as his running mate.

In particular, Obama *didn't* do this:

"Hensley met John McCain in April 1979 at a military reception in Hawaii.[18] He was the U.S. Navy liaison officer to the United States Senate, almost eighteen years her senior.[19] McCain and Hensley quickly began a relationship,[19] traveling between Arizona and Washington to see each other.[10] John McCain pushed to end his marriage of fourteen years;[18] Carol McCain and John McCain stopped cohabiting in January 1980,[20] and Carol accepted a divorce in February of 1980,[18] effective in April 1980. John and Cindy were married on May 17, 1980 at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix."

- Although Obama has been called an elitist, neither he nor his wife have had the benefit of wealthy or influential parents such as McCain's four-star admiral father or Cindy McCain's very wealthy father who made his fortune in the very noble profession of beer distribution.

- Obama built a campaign organization that took him from being a virtual unknown no one took seriously to the leading candidate according to current polls, including overtaking Hillary Clinton, the candidate everyone thought would be the obvious nominee.

- You don't see advisors correcting Obama real time as he speaks, and he can speak for more than ten seconds without looking down to read what he's supposed to say next.

Is Obama the better of the two for president? I don't know. But I do know that lame attacks like yours are doomed from the start, because for all the faults Obama has, McCain has failed to offer any compelling reasons to believe he's a better choice.

First of all, I'm Puerto Rican and I see a lot of ignorance in this blog. Puerto Rican are US citizens, no immigrant motives for Daddy Yankee to endorse McCain. Daddy Yankee is a celebrity and he can endorse whoever he wants but that doesn't make him right. I can't judge his endorsement because I don't know how well informed he is (and I have serious doubts that he is well informed). The situation in this country needs more analysis than a newspaper reading to be well understood. I don't think that Daddy Yankee is the right person to endorse any of the candidates for many reasons that I won't mention here because I want to keep this post short. But I'm sorry to say that some ignorant latin people will vote for McCain because of this.

John McCain's Experience vs. Obama

Naval Academy: legacy admission, barely avoided flunking out, graduated 894th of 899, crashed and destroyed 5 military aircraft
Vietnam: shot down and tortured
Post Vietnam: Cheat on loyal middle class wife who waited for McCain's return from Vietnam. Marry into mobbed up Hensley alcohol family from Arizona that funds political career.
Keating 5 Scandal: Questionable involvement with mentor Charles Keating in one of America's largest Savings & Loan Scandals
Senate: 25 years of largely mediocre service, irrational outbursts and generally viewed as mentally unstable evenby many in his own party.

-Single family household
-Columbia University Grad
-Harvard Law Grad
-Community Organizer
-State Legislator
-U.S. Senate
*NOTE: Obama's career has been about rising from working roots to the highest echelons of education in America and his work has been in service of the less fortunate. McCain has spent his life in service of his own ambition. And now, he is too damn old and needs to retire.

And now that I think about it, if you are a woman and you vote for McCaine, and you have children, you should be aware that McSame has ALWAYS VOTED AGAINST any type of healthcare for children or not voted at all. With this kind of track record, and the track record for voting AGAINST supporting our troops, I just don't see how any free-standing thinking American could vote for someone who lies, flip flops and has a voting record that cleary shows he doesn't support anyone (not even the troops, women, children OR Latinos) but BIG CONGLOMERATE BUSINESS.

Well I don't think nominating Obama will be bad for the Democrats. How do you know that Hillary wouldn't be way behind McCain right now? I think she would. There is * a lot* of Hillary hate out there- I know because I voted for her in the primary, on the strength of her health care policy. A lot of people just dislike her. I am also reading "Takeover" by Charlie Savage (Pulitzer prize winner) and have come to view Hillary and Bill as the Democratic equivalent, in terms of greed for Presidential power, of Dick Cheney. So now I realize that Obama was the right choice.
I was canvassing for Obama this weekend here in Charlottesville, Virginia, and Obama support is very strong, and from my admittedly anecdotal experience, about 50-50 among Hispanics. Only one person out of all of the people the four of us canvassing this precinct spoke too was a disgruntled Clinton supporter who said she was going to vote McCain. In the lower middle-class urban neighborhood we canvassed Obama supporters were out-numbering McCain supporters almost 2-1.

In case all of you Democrats forgot how to do the Macarena - here are some tips:

1. Put your right arm straight in front of you with your palm down.
2. Do the same with your left arm.
3. Flip-flop your right palm up.
4. Flip-flop your left palm up.
5. Grab or just touch your left shoulder with your right hand.
6. Do the same with your left hand on your right shoulder. It'll almost look like you have crossed your arms.
7. Grab the back of your neck with right hand, then your left hand.
8. Put your right hand to your left hip, then your left hand to your right hip.
9. Put your right hand to the back of your right hip, then your left hand to the back of your left hip
10. Roll your hips 3 times, jump and clap your hands and turn a quarter-turn to the left!
11. Repeat the steps and turn to the left each time you clap.

I'll take Gasolina any day. It is much better than ethanol.

See ya at the convention everyone!...wait a minute, I think I left my huge foam finger in house #5, but it could have been house #7 since that's the last one I bought. . . what's that? I bought 10 houses? Damn. I guess I'll have to check with my staff and get back to you.
I Hate It When That Happens!

I am so hoping Grandpa McMansion's picks Plastic Mitt as his running-mate.

The ads have already written themselves..."my friends" and there's alot more where this came from:

Maybe Obama better schedule an appearance on "Sabato Gigante." The host is a Hispanic Jew -- two for one.

Then get on the phone to Carlos Santana. Didn't he have a hit with "Black Magic Woman"?

• Can Obama-Biden really defeat McCain-FIORINA?

Why is the Obama camp so afraid to allow the delegates to register their true views in a fair vote?

Why is there so much pressure for Hillary to cut short the roll call and hand the nomination over to a candidate who has failed to unite his party, and who continues to sink in the polls -- in a year when the Dems should be far, far ahead?

And why does the media, including you, Chris, declare that Obama "will" be nominated -- when there's a good chance that a mighty chorus of opposition is rising up this week to stop his unearned takeover of the party?

The CNN poll is now dead-even, 47-47. When the latest tracking polls come out tomorrow and Wednesday, it will be more bad news for Obama's prospects.

An earlier poster talked about "Obamacide" in reference to his position on abortion.

I would argue that the term defines what the Democratic Party is doing to itself, if it certifies Barack Obama as its standard-bearer.

Just wait until McCain names CARLY FIORINA as his VP pick. She's intelligent, well-schooled in economic issues, and she projects a very compelling, competent (and attractive) persona.

Does anyone doubt that McCain-Fiorina will attract many disgruntled Hillary supporters - and many Democrats of both sexes who see Obama as unprepared to assume the duties of commander-in-chief?

Superdelegates, STOP THE OBAMACIDE.

Vote for Hillary in that roll call. Deny Barack Obama the top of the ticket. Do a backdoor deal that persuades Hillary to pledge her delegates to Al Gore, who would then name Obama as his vice presidential pick (realpolitik demands that he remain on the ticket).

Stop the Obamacide. Vote Hillary.

Or, maybe a John McCain-Enrique Iglesias ticket?
