Bill Clinton to Campaign for Obama Next Week

By Philip Rucker
When former president Bill Clinton met with Sen. Barack Obama in Clinton's Harlem office last week, he asked the candidate, "What do you guys want me to do?"

The answer appears to be to hold campaign events in Florida, Nevada and Ohio, as well as host fundraisers in New York, California and Ohio.

Clinton said today that he will campaign for Obama beginning next week, once his annual philanthropy conference concludes.

He said he will join his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, and the vice-presidential candidate, Sen. Joseph Biden, at a campaign event in northeastern Pennsylvania.

"It's a big October," Clinton told a small group of philanthropy reporters in New York. "I'm going to be out there a lot for him."

Asked about Sarah Palin, Clinton said he understands why the Alaska governor has emerged as a popular figure among Republicans.

"I come from Arkansas. I get why she's hot out there, why she's doing well," Clinton said. "People look at her and they say, 'All those kids. Something that happens in everybody's family. I'm glad she loves her daughter and she's not ashamed of her. Glad that girl's going around with her boyfriend. Glad they're going to get married."

Clinton said voters would think, "I like that little Down syndrome kid. One of them lives down the street. They're wonderful children. They're wonderful people. And I like the idea that this guy does those long-distance races. Stayed in the race for 500 miles with a broken arm. My kind of guy."

Clinton added, "Why don't we like them and celebrate them and be happy for her elevation to the ticket and just say that she was a good choice for [McCain] and we disagree with him. He made a good choice for himself, but we don't think it's a good choice for America."

Clinton also said he would campaign for Obama in Arkansas, where he said he thinks the Illinois senator could pull off an upset.

"Arkansas is now the most Democratic Southern state. We're back in business now," Clinton said. "My crowd down there thinks he could win. If you win Arkansas, you could turn the lights out."

Boy do I feel like an idiot! I have been one of Bill Clinton's biggest supporters during and afer his presidency. I have spent 8 years defending him against personal and political attacks concerning his presidency and his legacy as President of the United States. Has he forgotten the vicious way that the Republican party and their propaganda machine treated him, Hillary and Chelsea? Now, I feel like I am being personally betrayed!!! Bill, if you don't want to campaign for Barack Obama; dont! But, at least stop campaigning for McCain and Palin.

Bill Clinton is a brilliant and politically charming speaker. When he speaks nicely about Palin, he is just saying, “people and women like her and the kind of person she is, is appealing” but Bill is Not coming out and saying, “Oh hey vote for McCain-Palin!!” Bill is not saying that at all. Bill Clinton’s advise to Obama was, “Stop saying bad things about Palin it is going against you”…Bill went on to tell Obama, “when they ask you questions about Sarah Palin, just make sure you have some kind words to say about her and then talk about how much better your “policies and issues” are better for the country.” That was One of the many things (advice) he gave Obama to Help Him Win!…the people on these blogs and Kid Rock on Larry King have it All Wrong! Bill Clinton is Actually Trying To Help Obama Win Not Lose! Wake up People and Stop Blaming the Clinton’s….Obama needs them and they’re both Bill and Hillary are being seen a lot more now in order to Help him…Actually if the Clinton’s were trying to see that Obama Was Not Elected they would have just sat back and Did Nothing…Such as No Campaigning, No Talk Show etc. But the Clinton Are Putting themselves out there To Help Obama. Thanks Bill and Hillary.

I never cease to be amazed at the mindless,self-engraciating psychobabble in the blogosphere. Why do you cyber-geniuses think that your positions on and 'feelings' about political issues and candidates have any measurable impact? Don't you realize that this election will be won by the candidates with the best organization, the grasp of the relevant issues, and most importantly, the most money that is most wisely spent. It's always been this way.Read the book "How the Good Guys Finally Won" by Jimmy Breslin if you want insight into the bloodsport of American politics...especially at the presidential level.
Don't trust your instincts or put faith in your emotions;you will be sorely disappointed.
In the meantime, enjoy your first amendment rights.

The comment that Obama is a centrist happens to be correct, if centrist has any meaning at all. His economic policies are an amalgam of market solutions and government safety nets, his foreign policy favors robust diplomacy and a strong military capability. It would be hard to find a more centrist position.

I'm not so sure Bill is really pushing for Barack. So far all I've heard is that, him and Hillary ARE GOING TO campaign for Obama, but have seen little to no real action in this case.

We will just have to see what happens.
Obama will win with or without the Clintons help.

What you apparently are unaware of the a Ass Attorney General of the Reagan and Bush I Justice Dept who is antiabortion and pro gun rights and believes in strict interpretation of the constitution thinks that Obama will make a better choices for the Supreme Court than McCain.

Obama is centrist and McCain chooses a right wing fanatic as his running mate. Just like he will choose a fanatic like Alito or Scalia for the Supreme Court.

Will someone please ask Bill Clinton, and the candidates, about THIS...

FINANCIAL TERRORISM A ROOT CAUSE
OF WALL STREET MONEY MELTDOWN?

Once again, Congress is being asked to rush through emergency legislation -- to cede effective control of the economy to the government.

Officials continue to blame lax lending policies on the part of the mortgage industry for spawning this crisis. But is that entirely true?

And is there a hidden agenda at work? Is government extra-judicial "targeting" of American citizens a root cause of the mortgage meltdown that spawned the broader financial crisis?

Consider this:

Joe and Bill just did an ad for McCain and Palin. Obama is just like the average black man...fighting on all front against friends and the nasays. Bill on the view and David's show talking as if Hillary is still in the race now instead of 2012. Bill, his comments about Palin and his Hillary comments...nay a good word about the ticket. Joe and the McCain ad...come on Joe. McCain has gone as low as the rock will allow with his dirt ads and Bill, no one is asking Palin to throw her daughter out but none is this a hit for American to parade in public as something to be proud of. If this young fellow was all hotshot about a wedding...one would think five months into childhood and not marry yet. Give me a break. with friends like you, McCain can just stay home and let you do your thing.

Clinton has lots of appeal and charisma. Many people like Bill regardless of his history and mistakes. I think it would be wonderful for Barack to do a campaign event once or twice with Hillary, another few with Bill and some additional with Biden. In that order depending upon the state. So it's a good thing

I'm not sure how to take Bill Clinton. But in the end, he is more of an asset. Bill Clinton needs to hold meetings in the rural areas of several swing states like Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Colorado, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. There he can talk about himself and how Obama would be good for America like 1992 Bill Clinton was good for America.

AMERICANS WILL ULTIMATELY GET THE LEADER THEY DESERVE!

Posted by: JAMESK | September 23, 2008 2:14 AM | Report abuse

AMERICA, PLEASE ELECT BARACK OBAMA USA PRESIDENT
AP-Yahoo poll indicated that a significant number of white democrats are not voting for Barack Obama because of the color of his skin. One-third of white democrats won’t be voting for Obama because they categorize black people as lazy, violent, and responsible for their own problems (Ron Fourtner and Trevor Tompson, Associate Press, September 20, 2008). A report in the Mississippi major Newspaper, The Clarion Ledger, rightly reported that race is still a problem as to why many Mississippi white people cannot possibly vote for an African-American (September 21, 2008).

Now we have Boris Johnson, a conservative Mayor of London, calling on Americans to elect Obama because of the impact it will have on black people in America and all over the world and the impact it will have on America herself and in solving world problems (Telegraph.uk.news, September 21, 2008). America, when shall you hear? America, when shall you ever listen to Abraham Lincoln, the God Almighty, and the true heart-beat of America’s creation.

In the book, President Barack Obama of USA: What America and the Rest of the World Would Gain With Barack as America’s CEO (championsociety), I carefully presented an analysis that indicated Barack Obama as clearly better qualified than John McCain to lead America in these times. Yet America is bent on committing suicide just because this serious and better candidate happens to be half-black and half-white, but still black. Some are actually voting on other nonissues like ‘how pretty one looks’ instead of the ability to analyze complex contingencies and come up with weather-proof decisions that will save this great nation. America is in crisis management today because of past and long political and economic philosophies—from trickle-down economics to divisive politics and Washington lobbyists. America, you are destroying yourself because of unnecessary values like racism, bigotry, and ‘what-looks-good.’

Let me dwell on the issue of race and emancipation of America at this time. You may consult the cited book for the rest of the rigorous analysis on why Obama is the CEO and CIC choice for today’s America. First, I must say, “Thanks to all white people who are voting for Barack Obama, and thanks to all white people who are voting not based on race but on the relative ability to lead America now—whether they are voting for McCain or Obama.” Unfortunately, I must say that I am disappointed with those who are voting against Barack Obama because his skin is of black race. This is totally evil, unpatriotic, and demonic. That’s a stab in the chest of USA! That’s the tearing of the American flag! They really do not understand, but they think they do.

Let us look at the weak reasons on why some of them are not voting for Obama. They say that black people are lazy, violent, and responsible for their own problems. I wonder what pushed the black people to come to be known or stereotyped like this? Is Barack Obama lazy and irresponsible? Were black people lazy when they were brought into the United States and put to hard work? Didn’t they work extremely very hard and to the benefit of everyone else (except themselves)? Even after the emancipation proclamation, didn’t the black people work their butts off to better themselves, but they were being hindered physically and psychologically from all sides and by the majority race? For too many years, are black people not yearning and begging the white race to please accept them as human beings and to treat them equally for a change? For too many years, how many times in a day are black people not being snubbed by the majority race as this minority struggles to lift its head out of the rushing, mighty, water falls of hatred and racism against it? For too many years, how many times in a day have black people been made to deeply and continually feel that they are nothing or even worse than animals, yet they continue to struggle, looking for approval from the majority race, the white race? Which race will survive years of deep-seated racism, physical beatings, and psychologically merciless abuses that the yearning and longing black people have suffered in the USA, the land of the free and the brave? How can a group of people behave if their parents, grand parents, great grand parents, great-great grand parents, etc.—have all been subjected to oppression, suppression, and depression of belittling? How will a group of children feel if anytime they go to their parents for approval and for some pat on the back, the parents snap on them, belittle them, bite on them, spit on them, ‘beat the hell out of them,’ equate them to a trash, separate them from the other group of kids whom the parents think are human, wish them evil, trash the children regardless of how hard they try, etc?

Beautiful Americans, there are many questions to be asked. Take the time to ask yourself those questions and try to genuinely and empathetically answer them without psyching your heart and mind away from the questions. You will totally agree with me that any child, after many gruesome years of receiving third class or no class treatment from a parent relative to other children, will resort to violence, and may finally regress to laziness after being forced to depend on government handouts and fatherless homes for years. Dear white race, the Almighty God made you this parent. Unfortunately, you made a mistake somewhere. You rebuffed the continuous yearning of acceptance of one of your people/children. Do you know that’s what God is going to use Barack Obama to correct—to heal the black race and to cause all races in America (black, white, blue, green, etc) to “blossom?”

Dear beautiful white race, the black race will rise and significantly help to rebuild USA if you can stomach the calling of God to treat them as human beings and as equals. If you can listen to the call of God and elect Barack Obama the President of the United States of America, you are actually helping to complete the circle of what the holy and loving man, Abraham Lincoln, started. DON’T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY, for you will not be happy with yourself at all! It is a great chance for America to be healed by God and it will result to a HUGE blessing on America as all the members of USA work as one [AS ONE] toward the sky—no limit!

America, you are very beautiful. You are very charitable! You have a great opportunity to teach the devil a great lesson and cause America to “BLOSSOM” out of this world. God will become your rearguard again. Your enemies will think twice before raising a finger against you. Al-Qaeda will not be your enemy; it will be fighting your God, the Great and mighty One—“In God We Trust!” Let’s have the courage to trust this God and do what is right. Do not vote against Barack Obama because of the color of his skin. The man is truly and clearly more qualified to lead this nation than the honorable John McCain and Sarah Palin combined. Two books, President Barack Obama of USA and Inside Joe Biden (championsociety) clearly prove this assertion. Barack Obama is better than John McCain in correcting and driving domestic economy, national security, and international relations. The no-drama Obama is at 95 percent in strategic and system-oriented leadership acumen compared to McCain’s 48 percent. McCain will do well when there are no serious and complicated problems. Barack Obama is equal to straightforward and complex issues. Today’s world is complex. Today’s American problem is complex, to say the least. America, please listen. Besides finally helping to free black people psychologically, which is perfectly a godly thing to do, Barack Obama is an antidote against a conglomerate of today’s American problems, domestically and internationally. With Barack Obama, you won’t be managing crisis as it is now. You will have a serious and able CEO and Commander In Chief. You are hiring a CEO and CIC of USA not just a soldier’s skill.

Finally, and especially to those so-called democrats who are voting against Obama because of his race and other flimsy reasons: if you really care for black people, you will know that Obama will be used by God to be a serious role model to all blacks. He will tell black people to wake up and to stop being lazy and to deal with all their problems, including going to school and getting good education. He will be a unique instrument to the healing of major black diseases such as welfare-dependency, single-parenting and hopping from man to man, female-dominated/fatherless homes, and hen-raised children and husbands. He is doing it already. But the greatest joy is that the man, Barack Obama, is and will always be the man and President for whites, blacks, Hispanics, greens, yellows, orange, USA. That’s enough for us to vote for him. We may not agree with one or two issues he stands for, but we should agree that he is the right person for lifting up the working class, the left-behinds, and the forgotten. He will certainly be instrumental to correcting and upgrading America’s international relations. With his humble background, pains of fighting to belong, and diverse/built-in domestic and international characters, Barack Obama is made for USA and the world for such a time as this in American and world history. Let's trust God and elect him. He is very able!

Surely the Clintons must realise by now that no amount of meticulous planning could guarantee Clinton 2012.After all until a few years ago who had ever heard of Obama let alone considered him a viable Presidential candidate?I fear that the Clintons if they are thinking along these lines could be setting themselves up for a massive let down and disappointment from which recovery may not even be possible. I just hope they are not being deceived by some some clairvoyant or false prophet.

Surely you jest!! This ambitious former president has had more kind words for McCain and Palin than for Obama. Does anybody not see that Clinton is protecting 2012 for the Clintons? Seems very transparent to me. But then I am bothered by their long pattern(s) of denial and untruthful commentary. The best he's done for Obama he did at the convention and that's been pretty well discounted as something he "had" to do. Since then he's predicted Obama will win while lavishing praise on the other ticket. Transparently clever. Typically dishonest and self-seeking. If Bill were truly going to campaign for Obama he would have come out of the convention working at it. He's such a liar.

oh,

here's that a major teddy article I was looking for:

Voice of the White House February 28, 2005
TBR News.org February 28, 2005

"An absolute non-issue with the American print and TV media is the control by very powerful gays of the top policy levels of the White House. Growingly pointed comments inside the Beltway social clubs, homes and watering places about Karl Rove's "good friend" 'Jeff Gannon' are being very thoroughly ignored by the mainline press.

There are two reasons for this crashing silence. One is the fact that a large number of powerful and wealthy Republicans are gay and do not want their wives and children to discover that they put on leather underwear and spend their spare time at the Eagle over on New York Avenue or getting rough trade action at the Crew Club. Fat Karl Rove was seen by one of my people entering a private homosexual orgy at a five-star Washington hotel over the Mid-Atlantic Leather (MAL) weekend last year. All the self-hating loyal Republican gays at the no-pants party, many of them Senatorial aides and military types, of course pretended they didn't recognize him, and who can blame them - imagine how repulsive Fat Karl must look without his clothes. The report that came back was that Fat Karl greatly enjoyed the supervision of a certain hairy 350-lb.

Leather Dominator, who had won the

Miss Virginia Daddy Bear

title at the MAL festivities.

Karl used hang out at JR's, which is on 17th between P&S, before he became so well-known. This is a "respectable" gay bar for discreet people who do not wear mesh panties, high-heeled pumps and wear terrible wigs. How many people know about these activities? In Washington, a hell of a lot of the prominent. But very few of them dare to open their mouths because of their own small problems.

.small problems.

how about let's look at the books for

Halliburton

Blackwater
Carlyle Group????

you repulsive scammers posing as democrats

it won't happen if you don't elect Hillary, 'cause the bama saying it don't mattah

you know after Nixon was ousted in the 70's

everyone wanted someone that wasn't crooked and had no Washington D.C. connections...

listen closely, no Washington D.C. connections or understanding translates to

no support.

Jimmy Carter was a great thinker, and ahead of his time in working towards peace. He was the antithesis of a war monger. He didn't fit in with the Washington D.C. Military Industrial Complex, though he had been a commander of a submarine and had a degree in engineering.

He thought that because he had been elected President that people in Washington would treat him special, and with respect.

they didn't.

I don't want to waste four years with Obama finding out that it takes more than rhetoric to survive and get things done. And a democratic congress made up of elitists forging for thier own class isn't much better than a repulsive scammer congress....spending every dime on themselves.

Obama, hasn't faced what it takes to be president in these transitory times. Slamming the one person willing to address "today," as a person living in the past shows

his ignorance.

. look at this GOP disguised as a DEMOCRAT????

doing the BS link, or "appeal to emotion as it is popularly called...

that AFGHANI NARCO STATE

shades of black water....

The Share of the Afghan Heroin in the Global Drug Market

Afghanistan produces over 97 percent of the global supply of heroin and heroin represents a sizeable fraction of the global narcotics market, estimated by the UN to be of the order of $400-500 billion.
There are no reliable estimates on the distribution of the global narcotics trade between the main categories: Cocaine, Opium/Heroin, Cannabis, Amphetamine Type Stimulants (ATS), Other Drugs.

The Laundering of Drug Money, oh my.....so that is where all of that SUB PRIME money came from!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The proceeds of the drug trade are deposited in the banking system. Drug money is laundered in the numerous offshore banking havens in Switzerland, Luxembourg, the British Channel Islands, the Cayman Islands and some 50 other locations around the globe.

It is here that the criminal syndicates involved in the drug trade and the representatives of the world's largest commercial banks interact. Dirty money is deposited in these offshore havens, which are controlled by the major Western commercial banks. see BCCI, GEORGE H.W. BUSH

The latter have a vested interest in maintaining and sustaining the drug trade. (For further details, see Michel Chossudovsky, The Crimes of Business and the Business of Crimes, Covert Action Quarterly, Fall 1996)

Once the money has been laundered, it can be recycled into bona fide investments not only in real estate, hotels, etc, but also in other areas such as the services economy and manufacturing. Dirty and covert money is also funneled into various financial instruments including the trade in derivatives, primary commodities, stocks, and government bonds.

Concluding Remarks: Criminalization of US Foreign Policy US foreign policy supports the workings of a thriving criminal economy in which the demarcation between organized capital and organized crime has become increasingly blurred.

The heroin business is not "filling the coffers of the Taliban" as claimed by US government and the international community: quite the opposite!

The proceeds of this illegal trade are the source of wealth formation, largely reaped by powerful business/criminal interests within the Western countries. These interests are sustained by US foreign policy. Decision-making in the US State Department,

the CIA and the Pentagon is instrumental in supporting this highly profitable multibillion dollar trade,

third in commodity value after oil and the arms trade.

The Afghan drug economy is "protected".

The heroin trade was part of the war agenda. What this war has achieved is to restore a compliant narco-State, headed by a US appointed puppet.

The powerful financial interests behind narcotics are supported by the militarisation of the world's major drug triangles (and transshipment routes), including the Golden Crescent and the Andean region of South America (under the so-called Andean Initiative).

oooooooooo la la....

Tom:

You think it would be fair to replace Biden after the VP debate next week (October 2nd)?!

Posted by: JakeD | September 22, 2008 8:38 PM | Report abuse

Using the latest available statistics (2005), 2,448,017 people died in the U.S. -- for an average of 6706.89 per day -- not including unborn children (who can't vote regardless). There are 42 days left until the election, so approximately 281,688 will die between now and then. VOTE ASAP!!! Better safe than sorry, I always say.

In exchange, Hillary should replace Biden, as he admits she's better, and accept the most popular and sucsseful Democratic presidents advise since FDR.
We here in Ill. know how dirty Obama can play so it isn't a surprise.
You need the Clintons' to fight these nasty republicans.

Here's a soldier (something Mr. Obama was never considerate of America enough to become) with a special message for you.

Do you think Barry Hussein (aka Senator Purple Lips will invade Pakistan like he said in the summer of 2007? Talk about throwing your fellow Muslims under the bus. Hold on America, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

ALL right-thinking voters in Georgia, Kentucky, and Virginia:

Early voting for McCain-Palin started TODAY!! In all, 34 states allow people to vote before election day. 28 of those states allow "no-excuse" absentee voting, so just get it done ASAP. You may not get a chance to vote after tomorrow.

You should have learned by now that when you analyze politics you have to take every statement with a big grain of salt, and to recognize feigned praise when you see it. Read Bill's lips and pay attention to the punch line: "He made a good choice for himself, but we don't think it's a good choice for America".

Bill and Hillary Clinton just got done running a nasty campaign against Obama.. and now all of a sudden they think we shouldn't attack Palin's resume!?? If you can't challenge Palin's resume then WHAT CAN you challenge her on??!!

Bill is an expert politician and a sell out to his democratic party at the same time. They both run around the country doing the bare minimum to support Obama to show their party that they're not sell outs and yet they are quietly running a subtle campain to support Obama's opponent.. all just to give Hillary a shot at the presidency in 2012.

Disgraceful. Someone in the party needs to speak up about this trojan horse.

Maybe John McCain can get ol Billy Boy to campaign for him too since McCain has joined the "Support a gay person" program with his long term employment of gay chief of staffer Mark Buse!

John McCain, are you a hypocrit or what? Come out with it? Does Buse stay or does he go?

I really can't believe what I've been reading about all this like how long has McCain known - about 20 years it looks like!!!

Jake just pointed out omitted information. That is useful. Any second now all of these anti-Clinton people will get on and accuse them of every ridiculous thing from stealing grandma's heart medications to kicking the dog (in the meanwhile repeating every right wing slime machine line from the last 16 years)- which does wonders in uniting the party...3...2...1...

“I like Senator Biden a lot. I think he was a good choice,” the former president said, before adding, “She would have been the best politically, at least in the short run, because of her enormous support in the country.”

But despite observing that his wife would have been the best political pick, Clinton said that Hillary “didn’t” want to be Obama’s running mate.

“She said that if he asked ‘I’ll do it because it’s my duty’ but I think, look, she loves being a senator from New York.”

Clinton said that “the main thing she thought is ‘I should have no opinion on this. I need to get out of this.’”
