McCain: Palin Vetting Was "Thorough"

By Robert Barnes
PHILADELPHIA -- John McCain's campaign has worked aggressively to shoot down questions about whether it adequately investigated the background of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin before he selected her as his running mate.

Today, McCain himself weighed in, albeit briefly.

"The vetting process was completely thorough, and I'm grateful for the results," McCain said during a campaign stop this morning at Engine Company 56 of the Philadephia Fire Department.

His aides have said nothing has emerged in news reports about Palin that McCain and the campaign did not know before selecting her, including that her 17-year-old daughter Bristol was pregnant.

If he had picked Rep. Michele Bachmann, instead, would she be "experienced" enough for you libs?

Posted by: JakeD | September 2, 2008 8:37 PM | Report abuse

WOW...

Why isn't anyone pointing out that she was a leader in an independent party that was trying to get Alaska to secede from the Union?

When Mrs. Obama said she was proud of her country for the first time, the republicans jumped all over that questioning her loyalty as an amercian. Seeeet this gal is trying to divide the United States and no one says a word, just focus on the kid...believe me there is a lot more to focus on that is far more damaging and everyone is ignoring the more important things.

Screw her daughter...oops someone already took care of that.

McCain's first wife was a 1.Beauty Queen, no substance. He cheated on her and his children with many women while his wife was crippled and trying to recover from a bad crash.

Mccain lies abouts his age to meet another 2.Beauty Queen while cheating on his wife, files for a marriage license while married and still living with his wife and kid's.
Now McCain pick's another 3. Beauty Queen who is turning out to be the biggest bust in the World of VP choices.
WHAT IS IT WITH MCCAIN AND BEAUTY QUEENS.. THAT SHOULD BE A GOOD AD TO ATTACK MCCAIN AND SHUT THIS DOWN. BALL GAME!!

Palin is the object of the cultural disdain of a left that loves the working class in theory, but is mystified or offended by its lifestyle and conservative values in reality. If there's ever been an exemplar of the rural America that, in Barack Obama's telling, "bitterly" clings to its guns and religion, it's Sarah Palin.

It's her misfortune to be a pioneer with the wrong ideology. So much bile was directed at Clarence Thomas because he was the "wrong" kind of black man. Pro-life, pro-gun and a down-the-line, if populist, conservative, Palin is a traitor to her gender and thus encounters the sort of fury always directed at apostates.

I feel bad for Palin's daughter...but I think that this scandal just makes Palin look more real/more sympathetic to voters. (And I'm an Obama supporter.)

Dr. Tantillo ('the marketing doctor') has a branding blog ( http://blog.marketingdoctor.tv) on which he just did a post on the combining of the McCain/Palin brands and the Obama/Biden brands--arguing that McCain's choice of VP now makes him, rather than Obama, the candidate of Change:

"Brands are combined for two reasons:
1) To complement one another;
and/or
2) Because they are consistent with one another.
The best brand combinations are when both 1 and 2 are happening.

[Palin] complements [McCain's] brand by bringing several demographics to the McCain brand, but she is also consistent with the brand because she is a party- and Washington-outsider, a fighter of waste and corruption and a straight talker. . . In fact, what Palin does is remind the electorate of what the McCain brand was all about in the decades before he ran for president and opponents painted him as an out-of-touch, wealthy guy who forgets the number of houses he owns."

Posted by: dan | September 2, 2008 3:49 PM | Report abuse

Where does Sarah Palin stand on pre-marital sex and sex education for teens? All I can find is this on her Biography page.

Sex Education - Palin is a "firm supporter of abstinence-only education in schools" according to CNN in 2006.[124] When running for governor in 2006, Palin wrote, "Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support," in response to a questionnaire by the Eagle Forum Alaska.

I guess she was too busy running Wasilla to be able to run her family of 5. She must not have been very persuasive as a mother. I wonder how she will fair on Foreign Policy when facing the Presidents of Iran, North Korea, China and Russia.

Pretty scary, huh?

Obama and Biden get my vote. The big picture is much more important than personal gain. McCain did this for his own personal gain and that is just outright wrong. I'm surprised as the number of people on here who say they worship god yet would vote for an admitted adulterer John McCain over a solid Christian man like Barak Obama.

Vote Obama/Biden.....this is a vote for hope.

Unsurprised

"No Surprises From Palin, McCain Team Says"-Washington Post

Senior McCain officials described themselves as "unsurprised" today as huge storms of locusts flew from Wasilla, Alaska and descended upon McCain campaign headquarters. "Locusts were vetted. Locusts were vetted in the vet" said one campaign official, who spoke without attribution out of concern that he would be devoured by a verminous flying cloud. The campaign also said that they were nonplussed by reports that the rivers were running black with ashes, that family pets were begin to speak in human voices, declaiming "Release Sarah!", and that a huge spreading stain was beginning to blot out the Northern sun. "Vetted", said the campaign.

"There are exciting new studies that show that locusts can be used as a source of biodegradable fuel" said Newt Gingrich, as he hunkered down to avoid the black marble obelisks falling from the sky around him. "Palin, if she can be said to have played a role in bringing about these new biofuel resources, should be praised for her innovative role in the solution to our future energy demands".

"These events firmly demonstrate Palin's deep connection to traditional modes of traditional expression, in traditional forms, traditionally." said William Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard. "Experience, in the face of these more traditional events, is overrated..." continued Kristol, before ending the interview to wrap himself head-to-toe in mosquito netting and swallowing a bitter tasting anti-malarial drug, the taste of which, as his lips contorted, he noted to be "surprisingly refreshing."

Palin's schedule in the upcoming days of the Republican National Convention has been cut short due to, as one McCain communications aide reported, a desire not to "let the magic out of the bottle too quickly." "Sarah is a precious resource, who each moment brings a new vitality and energy to every worker on the campaign" said the aide, while fighting to remove the nest of serpents which had suddenly materialized on the floor beneath him, and were now slowly ascending his legs. "Do these bite, or just slink?" asked the aide, who spoke on conditions of anonymity so as not to provoke or otherwise alienate the reptiles.

Meanwhile, as the heavens darkened, the seas began to boil, and a deep voice tore through the clouds shouting, in stentorian tones to one and all: "It was a Mistake!", campaign offices described themselves as "unperturbed". "Serpents materializing, house pets suddenly called to vocal advocacy, Celestial callings to revise and repent...Vetted" said the spokesman, speaking on condition of anonymity as he was turning into a pillar of salt. "Everything that was vetted was vetted in the vet."

Something still doesn't add up about Senator McCain's choice of Palin. He says she was thoroughly vetted, but the revelations about her and her family did not start coming out until Monday, on the fourth day of her rollout. If McCain and his team knew about these potential controversies, wouldn't they have laid them out earlier, say, on Saturday or Sunday, rather than have them emerge smack in the middle of their convention. And now, with new revelations about her support for Alaska succession and support for the bridge to nowhere, one wonders how well this was planned by the campaign.

"Intrusive Personal Questions" from the Palin Vetting Questionnaire

"Mr. McCain’s advisers said repeatedly on Monday that Ms. Palin was 'thoroughly vetted'"- The New York Times

Palin "responded to a 70-question form that included 'intrusive personal questions' a senior campaign aide said today."- The Washington Post

"Intrusive Personal Questions" from the Palin Vetting Questionnaire:

1) Did we forget anything?

2) Secession from your own country is

a) Patriotic
b) A qualification to be the potential leader of that country
c) Maverick-y!
d) None of the above

3) John McCain has said that he has followed your record for "many, many years." Divide those "many" years by the number of years of your actual record. The result is

a) Three days
b) Two years as mayor of a town of 9000, and 20 months at the helm of the vaunted Alaska National Guard
c) 0: experience, as we know, is not relevant to one's record
d) Czechoslovakia

4) Moose Burger : Abstinence as Moose Hunting :

a) Brother-in-law
b) 50 state flag
c) Bridge to Nowhere (after it was made impossible)
d) All of the above

5) Did we forget anything?

6) Three Vice Presidential candidates are moving from three equidistant fixed points towards a podium. One, in his slightly glazed stare and awkwardly quasi-combative speech bears a faint resemblance to Dan Quayle; the next can only assist the ticket as we near closer to Rapture; the third seems to have stumbled out of one of Christopher Buckley's sharper efforts. Which one arrives at the podium first?

7) "Nothing that has come out did not come out in the vet." This sentence actually means:

a) Everything has come out and everything has been vetted
b) Everything that was vetted has come out
c) Everything that has come out was vetted
d) The vet came out and vetted the vets vetter than anything has ever been vetted. Really.

8) You are a right-wing, red-state conservative. During the Clinton Administration, you believed that President Clinton's behavior with Monica Lewinsky disqualified him from the Presidency on moral grounds; you fervently raised the terms "Lincoln Bedroom" and "Johnny Chung" to invoke notions of utter corruption, and regarded the "Travelgate" firings as an abuse of power. In the face of the recent revelations regarding Palin's directorship of Ted Stevens' 527, support of the Bridge to Nowhere, "Troopergate" imbroglio, and illegitimate pregnancy of her 16-year old daughter, you:

a) Blame George Soros
b) Talk about Bill Clinton instead of Palin
c) Hold your hands over your ears and loudly shout "La la la"
d) Try to change the subject

9) "Foreign policy experience" includes:

a) Being near another large nation
b) Seceding from your own country and then taking up residence in the new nation
c) Being close to "Nowhere" in your support for the Bridge to Nowhere, which is different than being "Somewhere"
d) Blame George Soros

10) If you were seeking to choose as your running mate someone who would please Evangelical Conservatives with very traditional values, who would be without taint of corruption or misuse of government power, and someone who, in line with your campaign's own slogan, would put "Country First", after thorough vetting and "intrusive personal questions", you would choose someone who:

a) Supported the Bridge to Nowhere
b) Supported the secession of Alaska from the U.S. (Slogan: "Alaska First!")
c) Was the subject of a state ethics investigation due to allegations that she had tried to have her brother-in-law fired and that she fired the state public safety commissioner due to his unwillingness to fire the brother-in-law
d) Would suffer from allegations that her 16 year old child had become pregnant illegitimately, despite her fervent support for abstinence only sex education
e) None of the above

a) Patriotic
b) A qualification to be the potential leader of that country

Oh, I see after being voted out as mayor of Wasilla she took an oil job. I see she supervised a huge operation. I supervise 55 people so I know just how much stress that puts on someone. She supervised 22 people or less. Three petroleum geologists and three petroleum engineers. The rest are either assistants or administrative assistant positions. But I bet she made some nice contacts in the oil industry.
Here is the link to the alaska oil and gas commission and their entire staff. After going over their website I can see why Sarah is so qualified for Vice President. Man, that is some experience. Good thing she has a great education base to back up her work experience. BA in Journalism from the Univ of Idaho is one of the toughest degrees to get in this country. You have to have spectacular credentials or be legacy just to get in. I hear its much harder than a poor black man getting into Columbia or Harvard law school.

Is it irresponsible to put a half-term governor in the vice presidential slot? It depends on her record. But surely for a Washington novice, the vice presidency is more appropriate than the presidency. A half-term governor has more claim to leadership and experience than does a one-third-term U.S. senator

o FACT: Palin DID stand up to a lot of monied, Republican interests in her state -- successfully.

o FACT: Palin IS wrong that it makes sense for the U.S. to expand drilling in ANWR or off the Alaskan coast.

o FACT: Palin's pro-life beliefs are perfectly legitimate AND she lives them even in tough times.

o FACT: Palin's support for aerial shooting of wolves is unnecessary and cruel.

o FACT: Teenage pregnancy complicates (to put the matter kindly) a lot of lives in our country every year, and no one -- not Republicans or Democrats -- has managed to stop it, ever.

o FACT: I'm glad Obama's mom didn't abort (=kill in utero) him, notwithstanding how difficult it must have been for her to have a kid at 18. He's a great guy who has done a lot of good for the world.

o FACT: I respect the Palin's for keeping their child also.

."Palin has more political experience than Obama and more executive... blah, blah, blah" Rush Limbaughm Sean Hannity, and every right wingnut talking head that has been given the McNut transcript.

The only "experience" that she has that trumps the qualified national candidates is getting pregnant numerous times- the first time out of wedlock to an uneducated redneck. Seems to run in the family.

That, and the fact that she chooses her big oil interest's wishes over the native wildlife, instantly disqualifies her in my opinion.

Teddy Roosevelt would turn over in his grave if he were to witness her ruthless attitude towards aerial slaughter of bears and wolves.

The hardest thing about picking a VP from the Alaska governorship is that there's no income tax in Alaska. Alaska runs on money from oil and lumber development. Governor Palin, as Vice President, will be President of the Senate and will be called upon to break tie votes. This makes her the closest executive to the legislature. While in Alaska, she's never had to worry about where the money comes from. (To qualify that, there are some municipalities that levy sales taxes, but there is no state sales tax in Alaska.) In the US legislature, though, both taxes -=and=- spending are part of the mix. I don't believe that she has any nationally-relevant experience with fiscal discipline. Alaska is a true socialist welfare state. How that didn't get considered is beyond me.

That said, she's an impressive person in her own right, with deep personal convictions and a real desire to make changes happen. That kind of maverick experience goes really well with the attributes we associate with John McCain.

The content of 80% of these posts highlight the mentality of the "outside".. to which the great people of Alaska take some exception. When half your population lives scattered across 600,000 sq miles with no road to Wal-Mart or the doctors office and you live as far from Wash DC as citizens of Paris do, your perspective takes a MUCH more independent view. So to all the outsiders I say debate Palin's capabilities and leave Alaska politics to Alaskan's.

Republicans appointed committees, approved a platform—which supports abstinence education in schools.

When the Republican VP nominee's child has a child it only magnifies how abstinence doesn't work and how wrong their ideas for America are.

Just Say No To Condoms gets teens having children. Is this what Republicans want? More unwed teens having children because they were not taught sex education? Republicans new slogan a child for every teen.

Sarah Palin's qualifications to lead the nation if the old guy croaks:

1. Believes in banning books
2. Fires public servants to avenge family members
3. Wants to seceed from the Union
4. Against contraception use/Pro-teenage pregnancy
5. Pro-drilling/Pro-killing
6. Tied to corrupt members of the party
7. Mayor of town - pop. 6000
8. 1-year gubanatorial term of mostly homogenous state of 500,000
9. Once cheerleader and pageant queen

Am I the only one who thinks that unplanned pregnancy is a natural consequence of a lack of mandatory sex ed and the unavailability of free and confidential contraception? While it may be somehwat embarrassing to the Palins, it certainly should not come as any surprise. The puritanical views of this country on sex only make the problem more likely, not less.

That being said, anyone who had supported Clinton and switches to McCain simply because of Palin's gender (or because they are mad at the DNC) clearly has no substantive grasp on the issues. Not that the Democrats have ever really been champions of women's rights, but the Republicans have consistently tried to block or revoke any measure that would give women true equality, like free child care, equal pay, affirmative action, etc, all in the name of the "free market," (when they really just want to milk the working class for every drop of productivity possible, while keeping us divided and fighting amongst ourselves, in order to make the rich even richer.) If you're mad at the politicians, go and build an alternative, independent movement. Even Clinton would be more of the same - she's the one saying that "Obama is my candidate".

As for Obama, he's been moving further and further to the right ever since clinching the nomination. Anyone who expects real change from him is going to be disappointed. We'll still be at war, we'll still have soaring gas and food costs, and we'll still be working harder and harder just to stay in place.

Wonder why Guiliani is bumped off from schedule of RNC convention tonight?

Is it because of his infamous general practice of questionable 'sweetheart exchange deals' that may be illegitimate and or criminal?

For example, it is alleged that during the 90's, NYC Mayor Guiliani lessened felons' jail times in exchange for crimes committed on his behalf without public scrutiny or suspect while he enjoyed the publicity of crimefighter.

Did anyone hear whether his protege Bernard Kerik, ex-NYPD commissioner got 140 years of jail time for his mob-related activities?

Will ex-mayor Guiliani get Kerik to commit one of his own crimes/murders in exchange to lessen Kerik's 140 years of jail time?

If so, wonder which opponent is Guiliani targeting today and how? Car tampering and accident? A gun shot? Food tampering?

And would Kerik utilize his mob ties to do it?

I'm serious, can someone(hopefully those on the right) help me with this quetion, because I don't see the logic in the argument to teach abstinance.
What is the point of teaching abstinance to high school kids?
I mean yeah you can tell them that its best to wait until one is financially, and mentally prepared to have children, but it just seems that to tell kids outright to avoid sex until they are married is a losing battle. I mean at that age group the human body is going thru the biggest changes of its life including sexually, so to preach abstinance is to fight against biology. So wouldn't it be better to protect those who will have sex (even if they are told to wait) than to try to keep them, from something they will do anyways.(We all used to be teenagers,so we all know what I mean)

Don't think for a second that Mccain and palin aren't fighting like wolves in winter. The Industiral-Military complex lobby and Rove aren't just gonna let Obama stop the Global War on Terror. (gas gets cheaper around the holidays = yey!)
They are going to try to make obama look like a snot. Biden will attack McCain but he can't attack palin cause she's bullet proof. Then Palin will attack Obama, which should even the odds.

It's Palin's fault that her daughter's life is now relegated to strict supervision. It is ofcourse easier, since they have money. Sounds Mormon to me. (freedom of speech, freedom of religion)

There is no way in hell they are gonna let this guy Obama stop this war. So much work went into starting it. Show me the money.

Things will calm down by Friday. Obama wont touch Palin ever. Biden won't either. McCain got away with this one/

McCain's "Transparent" mini-Maverick Reformer VP pick (Palin) clams up, lawyers up, and claimed executive privilege.

Do you still have any doubt that McCain/Palin = more of the same?

Just as George W. Bush fired U.S. Attorneys who wouldn't do his bidding in carrying out his personal crusades, so it turns out McCain's VP pick has fired Alaska state employees for not doing hers.

Now finding herself under investigation by the Alaska State Senate, Palin's not just lawyered up, but already refining her Bush-Cheney stonewalling chops:

The state has hired a private lawyer to represent Gov. Sarah Palin's office in the Legislature's investigation into the firing of former Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. The lawyer already has challenged whether lawmakers even have authority to oversee the inquiry.

Palin has so far ducked interview requests from the investigators, and Alaska state legislators are already talking subpoenas.

http://www.adn.com/monegan/story/513137.html

Yeah, subpoenas. Sound familiar?
How about this?

E-mails from the Palin administration are being withheld from the public and the governor is citing executive privilege.

http://www.ktuu.com/Global/story.asp?S=8802680

OoOoOoOohh! What a "reformer!" What a "maverick!"

And just what kind of "executive privilege" are we talking about? Apparently these super-privileged e-mails are all cc-ed to... Palin's husband.

Well, knock me down with a feather.

PHILADELPHIA -- John McCain's campaign has worked aggressively to shoot down questions about whether it adequately investigated the background of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin before he selected her as his running mate.

Today, McCain himself weighed in, albeit briefly.

"The vetting process was completely thorough and I'm grateful for the results," John McCain said during a campaign stop this morning at Engine Company 56 of the Philadelphia Fire Department.

And what about 4100+ service Men and Women that died for the WMD's in Iraq?

Sarah Palin: Separatist, former mayor of a village, and a wannabe book-burner:

[Former Wasilla mayor John Stein] says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." The librarian, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire her for not giving "full support" to the mayor.

http://www.time.com/time/printout/0,8816,1837918,00.html

Here's one of those news reports from 1997:

City librarian Mary Ellen Emmons [Baker] will stay, but Police Chief Irl Stambaugh is on his own, Wasilla Mayor Sarah Palin announced Friday. The decision came one day after letters signed by Palin were dropped on Stambaugh's and Emmon's desks, telling them their jobs were over as of Feb. 13.

Both Stambaugh and Emmons [Baker] publicly supported Palin's opponent, long-time mayor John Stein during the campaign last fall. When she was elected, Palin questioned their loyalty and initially asked for their resignations. But Stambaugh said he thought any questions had been resolved.

http://www.adn.com/sarahpalin/story/510219.html

Putting it simply, Sarah Palin's idea of executive leadership involves firing the people you perceive as non-supporters, and outright abuse of power.

If she were vice-president, would she call up librarians around the country and dictate to them? Would she invade our privacy like that? Try to equalize everyone by telling us what we can and cannot have in our libraries?

Finally, a quote. From Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451:

"We must all be alike. Not everyone born free and equal, as the Constitution says, but everyone made equal... A book is a loaded gun in the house next door. Burn it. Take the shot from the weapon. Breach man's mind."

I live in pittsburgh (a city with a population about as big as alaska). We elected a new mayor a few years back that picked some young political hot shot as his running mate to attract a different demographic of voters, rather than for his political chops. Long story short, the old guy died a month into office, and left a young clueless kid with too little knowledge and too many distractions in office, and the city's suffered for the past three years as a result. The McCain/Palin ticket is looking more and more like it could create the same scenario.

Posted by: rich | September 2, 2008 1:24 PM | Report abuse

And another day brings another embarrassment for McCain. This time, the Senator, who publicly condemns earmarks (to the point that he even has an anti-pork barrel spending video game on his website), learns that his running mate actually condons them. A lot:

ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 1 -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin employed a lobbying firm to secure almost $27 million in federal earmarks for a town of 6,700 residents while she was its mayor, according to an analysis by an independent government watchdog. [...]

"In fiscal year 2002, Wasilla took in $6.1 million in earmarks -- about $1,000 in federal funds for every resident. By contrast, Boise, Idaho -- which has more than 190,000 residents -- received $6.9 million in earmarks in fiscal year 2008."

"She certainly wasn't shy about putting the old-boy network to use to bring home millions of dollars," said Steve Ellis, vice president of Taxpayers for Common Sense. "She's a little more savvy to the ways of Washington than she's let on."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/01/AR2008090103148.html?hpid=topnews

Oh, she's savvy in Washington ways alright. In fact, as the article notes, earlier this year, "Palin's office sent Sen. Stevens a 70-page memo outlining almost $200 million worth of new funding requests for the state of Alaska."

McCain recently called Palin his "soulmate." I guess opposites really do attract.

You republicans are like an extremely bad joke. Do you not see your utter hypocrisy??

First, let's get to Clinton...because of the Lewinsky affair, the GOP did their best to make sure that there was very little else that was being talked about for years. And that include throwing baseless charges to see what was gonna stick.

Democrats DID speak out against it and, one of the reasons that Gore did not become the president, is that he ran as far away from Clinton as possible, during the 2000 campaign. Otherwise, the election would not have been close enough to steal.

In this case, Palin's record is off the table. We are asked to vote for her, because of her 'family values.' THAT is her whole reason for her being on the ticket. Forget the fact that they are extreme values of the religious right.

Wanna speculate as to why her daughter is pregnant and why Sarah Palin had her 1st child, less than 8 months after she eloped?
BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT BELIEVE IN BIRTH CONTROL, ONLY ABSTINENCE!

So, if she has a moment of weakness, hello baby. Or if she were raped, or a victim of incest, hello baby, because they do not allow abortion under ANY circumstance.

For a person a cancer recurrence away from the presidency to be discredited on her only core issue is serious business. A person who wants to teach creationism in school and have abstinence to be our only birth control policy would need to be able to take on the Taliban, Iran and Putin.

Are you gonna tell me with a straight face that a person with this vital a position should not be thoroughly checked out.

You have just discredited yourself.

Senator Clinton has fought for woman's rights and this is a Woman's ISSUE. I feel that this issue does not involve MEN to discuss or to rule on it without a woman's representation, therefore, Biden should, if allowed, give this issue for debate to Senator Clinton, after all this is a Democratic issue, the right to choose.

These days are new and fresh in our history book and Sen. Clinton deserves this challenge, after all she is not only our Democratic firecracker, she is a U.S Senator with every right to represent her state and woman's rights she fought so hard to get and protect.

Problem is we should expect more from elected officials. Seems that brave hope is now as wanted as important truths about ourselves. Just be glad that greater minds prevailed and created an immutable constitution on which to base our hopes and finer aspirations. The ultimate truth concerning the general direction of our best of nations is upon us. Will we succomb to: I wont grow up, pointy headed neo-socialism or a rational move from the center embodying the best of honest arbitors of a long neglected Democrat Party. Maybe Sillory should have caught on sooner and asked for absolution from the very folks who will now elect Mccain and Palin.

To the EVANGELICAL supporters of John McCain

Jesus was more clear about divorce than He was about abortion or homosexuality.

In fact, He was crystal clear: Mark 10:11-12 "He answered, 'Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.'"

Matthew 5: 31-32 "It has been said, `Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.' But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery."

Luke 16: 18 "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery."

If you consider yourself a true, Bible-believing Christian, it appears you are forsaking the Word of Christ by supporting McCain. You can't pick which of Jesus's gospel you choose to follow and call yourself a disciple of Christ. You can't be a CAFETERIA CHRISTIAN. The rules of Christian conduct are not "pro-choice". You can't praise McCain's stance on abortion and simply look the other way on divorce or murder (support for war). You either follow all of them or you follow darkness.

She is hot. So are millions of american women. Why didn't they just put the daughter on depo or have a curfew? (17=parents responsible.)
can you picture Palin casting the tie breaking vote in the Senate?
She is hot. Its like, for GOP new trend is: VP, sec of state= new first lady.
McKains wife looks bad with this palin around. Hey maybe Palin can go to France and do Sarcozy so we can ged better diplomacy. (no offense=she is hot)
I like the lady, but it would be more conservative to pick a dude for VP. Sombody who can push the "LAUCH" button if McKain goes PTSD or stroke.
Osama and Qaida boys must be laughing. (F em)
She threw the kid to the wolves? poor parent. Such irresponsible child. poor family tragedy. They'll get through it. Mommy has values. Party has values. (sorry y'all)
Children these days need guidence, its cold in Alaska. Give me a break.
oh yeah, if she backs out it will be the Donkeys' fault. They pushed her out. poor lady with the pregnant kid. Such nice lady. (Where is her husband or the father of the child)
Just look at Obama's shirt today: it says: I'm relaxed. no Worries. I'd date her.
This election is gonna get NASTY DIRTY.
Obama is vulnerable. God bless him.

Her daughter being pregnant is not really a big issue, but to think that Palin is in any way ready to lead this country is a little crazy. Her political experience is limited to being mayor of a very small town (under 7000 people) and being governor of a very small State (650,000 people). Alaska is smaller than many major cites. And not to knock Alaska, but being governor of one of the last American frontiers, while it does give her points for toughness, does not exactly help in putting her finger on the pulse of America at large. I personally thought McCain was a little out of touch with modern America before, and this certainly does not help his agenda. Palin is a smart, upstanding, and in many ways inspirational woman, but a Hillary Clinton she is not (does McCain really believe woman will vote for a woman because they both share a pair of x chromosomes?). Governing a state in which you grew up with and know a majority of your voters is quaint, but it doesn't give one the perspective needed to deal with the plethora of clashing cultures and ideas that are a part of daily life for most Americans. This is not to mention foreign policy as Palin, until recently, had never even been outside the U.S. (and I know she has to deal with Canada, but Canada is not exactly the Middle East). This was a bad move as McCain had plenty of other better qualified and more "in-touch" candidates to choose from. That said, come Oct. 2 I hope Palin is one hell of a debater...

We have the opportunity to observe John McCain decision-making capabilities. His most important pre-election decision is to select a Vice Presidential candidate. He chose an unknown, unqualified person over at least two remarkably well qualified people( Ridge and Leiberman). This speaks volumes about his decision-making capabilities. As to the thoroughness of his selection process, well, as we are learning with each passing moment, it was not thorough at all. Very impressive for a take charge, ready on day 1, ready for the 3am phone call candidate.

By nature, I tend to afford troubled people and families the benefits of all doubts. Ms. Palin's family dramas would be easily dismissed in the vacuum of ordinary familial anonymity. But Sarah Palin's last-minute selection, John McCain's abreviated vetting of her, the piecemeal disclosures and her party's seemingly desperate rush to rationalization are troubling, especially in the context of her possibility of becoming president of the United States. Her selection puts lie to John McCain's claim of Barack Obama's lack of experience and Republicans' absurd assertion that Palin is "more experienced" than Barack Obama and Joe Biden. It is obvious to the most casual observer that John McCain's reputation as a maverick springs from the same myopic, dismissive and impulsive arrogance as George Bush's self-description as "The Decider." Predictably, evangelical leaders, right wing pundits and so-called Christian conservatives fall into hypocritical lock step to defend McCain's train wreck of bad choices, suspicious motives and practical and moral values. Both McCain and Palin's family histories are spotty. Sordid may not be too strong a word. Right wing attacks on Barack's race, religion, cultural origins and political accomplishments reveals the McCain camp as duplicitous at best and evil at worst. Barack has remained above the fray. His demonstrated family values and qualifications to be our President are impeccable. To vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin over Barack Obama and Joe Biden would rank as an insult to real American values and substance - both familial and political - and perpetuate Republicans' relentless assault on this great country.

Why don't all the miscreants on this board save a lot of time and say they're misogynists and terrified of women in power.

It also further terrifies you spineless boys that a woman who is attractive has power over you, because losers like you already resent attractive women because you could never get one in high school and you still can't get one now.

You think if you reduce a woman to her sexuality, you will make her powerless and that makes you feel powerful.

That makes you pathetic and dumb (and even more unattractive than you already are.)

All this irrational sexist squawking is a waste of time.

Your arguments make no sense. Your ad hominem attacks are pointless and say more about you than about Gov. Palin.

Yes, the proper way to address her is "Gov. Palin" NOT "this woman"

Barack Obama has had no management experience. She has governed a state and otherwise.

Barack Obama has NO management experience and he's running for PRESIDENT. Gov. Palin is running for VP.

How irresponsible is Obama, and is anyone who would vote for him.

Obama has served a partial term at Senator and he abstains from voting and taking a position over and over.

He needed Papa Biden as VP because he'll pee in his pants at the first international crisis.

"Barry" Obama was a pot smoking, basketball playing, aimless guy who benefited from Affirmative Action. He is not taking the higher road by refusing to mud sling. He mud slings via his surrogates. Many of you on this board are likely trolls for Obama. Obama is a sneak and is afraid if he openly sling mud, the mud will come back at him, but his fabricated persons won't withstand the attack.

Barack Obama can't even debate Sen. Clinton without peeing in his pants. Now he refuses to debate Sen. McCain. McCain has been asking him to debate for months and Obama hides. Obama can't do anything but read from a prepared speech. He can't think on his feet. He is a creation of Madison Ave, and the Democratic party leaders and the MSM are so misogynistic they'd rather elect a puppet like Obama than a REAL leader like Clinton.

Obama is spineless and ineffective. He has young kids. Who will raise his kids? If you skewer Gov Palin for having kids and running for office, you should do likewise to Obama.

No, you miscreants are simply grasping at vapors to find any excuse to not elect a woman.

Guess what? It's gonna happen. So put your dicks away.

Clearly she values her own political advancement more than the well-being of her vulnerable young daughter. If there's any shame in the situation, it's on Palin herself. This decision is a disaster for McCain, for Republicans, and certainly for this young girl. I'm sad for her, for the young man she's involved with, and sickened by the actions of her parents.

Heh, that's pretty funny. "8 years of executive experience"? Most of that was running a tiny town in a building that looks like a converted laundromat. She got the job by convincing just over six hundred people to vote for her ;) The Obama campaign employs 2,500 people -- a third as many people as *the entire population of Wasilla*, let alone Wasilla's mere 50-100 government employees. They spend three times per month what the Wasilla government spends in a *year*. Unlike Wasilla, which was run into the ground during her tenure (they went heavily into debt building a sports complex), the Obama campaign bested a rival that was considered a given to win the nomination, a feat largely credited to an amazingly well-run campaign. When Palin was elected to governnor of Alaska (i.e., in charge of about the same number of people as the mayor of Fort Worth, Texas, and in charge of only ~$3B in tax revenue), where she served for a whole 20 months, she got 114,000 votes -- a number largely credited to her effective campaign of "I'm Not The Previous Governor". Obama was elected Senator with 3.5 *million* votes. As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations committee, Obama has travelled to and met leaders across Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa. Palin didn't even receive a *PASSPORT* until 2007.

Want to compare their resumes, year-by-year?
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/9/2/1613/27485/447/581295

The comparison is so lopsided it's funny.

But it’s great family value if your teen age daughter got pregnant outside of wedlock and decided to keep it??? I think all who support the so called “Christian” values are kidding themselves because they are having pre marital sex and all other un-Christian activities just like non religious people. It’s time for them to step down the self righteous pedestals—especially those evangelical mega money machines that have nothing to do with Christ but to enrich themselves with their followers’ donations. 1. His sex and drug rendevous with Larry Sinclar implicating closeted homosexuality - google "Obama's closeted homosexuality" and,

2. Has Obama's birth certificate been vetted? Is it legitimate? His citizenship is questioned because there are family members who witnessed his birth in Kenya? His mother married and divorced Indonesian man who adopted Obama? The actual birth certificate document confirms to be a forged copy. Apparently candidates have to be citizens to be eligible to run for President.....

Palin reforms in Alaska were intended to satisfy her former party's (AIP) platform. Drill more oil and privatize State government services/resources, as much as you can. Make Alaska rich and strong so that it can be able to become independent. She favored Canadian companies in her natural resources dealings than US companies. Why? because AIP would prefer Alaska being either independent or become a province of Canada. Would she be able to reform Washington to meet AIP Agenda?

How could one choose a VP who is formerly or a sympathizer a state party that advocates succession from US? How could one pick a candidate that supported Pat Buchanan in his presidential bid?

All Palin idealogy is based on the AIP platform. A mixture of right-wing and libertarian agenda. Nothing about her is new original. Mccain has been sold bad commodity and would like to pass it to the rest of the nation.

The GOP has always been the party of "do as I say, not as I do". Any surprise they have a divorcee and a mother with an UNPLANNED pregnant, UNWED teenager as their candidates? If they were liberals, they would've been held up as examples of failed and sinful lifestyles. Hypocrisy MUCH?

Posted by: Kevin | September 2, 2008 12:50 PM | Report abuse

First: I agree with Obama-this shouldn't be an issue regarding Palin's ability to govern. Palin can teach, set examples, what have you, but ultimately her daughter is and will continue to be accountable for her actions.

Second: Anybody touting Palin as qualified because of her "exectutive" experience is listening to too much Lush Bingebaugh. The concept seems to indicate that via some sort of alchemy that comes with the title Governor, you are somehow now able to make better or more informed decisions-of course. What nonsense. It's the same person who was mayor of a small hamlet. The title of Governor imparts nothing.
The difference between her and Obama is that Obama has been veted by voters and pronounced capable-Palin was selected, and her public vetting is taking place now.

Third: Yes, McCain could have selected a more capable running mate. This was a political calculation, and I think a good one. If he doesn't connect on a Hail Mary, he'd be going down anyway-the experience card wasn't working so they stirred the pot-big time. I look at it as a shrewd move.

We can all agree on one thing here. John McCain had an affair while married to his first wife. Am I correct? I think so. He is the quote McCain gave when posed this question by reporters:

McCain: My greatest moral failing – and I have been a very imperfect person – is the failure of my first marriage. It's my greatest moral failure.

Basically he was admitting that he was an adulterer. Am I correct? What is the definition of an adulterer? Let's look in the dictionary, shall we?

adulterer Definition
adul·terer (ə dul′tər ər)

noun

a person (esp. a man) guilty of adultery

Aaaaaahhhh, now we are getting somewhere. What exactly is adultry? Let's go back to the dictionary.

Main Entry: adul·tery
Pronunciation: \ə-ˈdəl-t(ə-)rē\
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural adul·ter·ies
Etymology: Middle English, alteration of avoutrie, from Anglo-French avulterie, from Latin adulterium, from adulter adulterer, back-formation from adulterare

: voluntary sexual intercourse between a married man and someone other than his wife or between a married woman and someone other than her husband; also : an act of adultery

Ooooooo, now its getting good.

So we have established that John McCain is an admitted adulterer. So is his current wife by definition. What nice christian family values they hold....

Hey, here's an idea. Let's look up what the bible says about adultry. I'm sure its buried somewhere in the back.

The seventh of the Ten Commandments, which God spake in the long ago, "Thou shalt not commit adultery" Exodus 20:14. This has always been God's law

OOOOOOOOOOPS! I was wrong. Its one of the 10 commandments. I wonder how John McCain missd that one. He's such a good christian boy.

We are told in I John 3:4, that sin is the transgression of God's law, therefore, to commit adultery is to transgress God's law, and therefore, sin. Not only has God forbidden adultery, but the son of God himself said, "Whoso looketh on a woman to lust after her, hath committed adultery with her already in his heart" Matthew 5:28. If the adulterous thought is sin, surely the adulterous act is sin. The Holy Spirit through the inspired apostle has told us plainly that adultery is a sin. Peter described some sinners of his day as having "eyes full of adultery, that cannot cease from sin" II Peter 2:14. Paul warned the Corinthians to "flee fornication" I Corinthians 6:18.

Ouch! That can't be good.

Speaking of adultry and unmarried sex. I wonder how both John McCain and his running mates underage daughter fair when it comes to the bible. Let's take a look and what God says about this:

The seriousness of the sin of adultery and sex between an unmarried man and woman can be seen in several ways. Under the law of Moses the penalty was death by stoning. (Deuteronomy 22:21 ff, John 8:4,5).

WOW! God doesn't care too much for those adulterers, does he?

What else does he say about unmarried sex for a 16 year old.

1 Thessalonians chapter 4 (TEV)

2 You know the instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. 3 God wants you to be holy and completely free from sexual immorality.

1 Thessalonians chapter 4 (NLT)

4 Then each of you will control your body and live in holiness and honor - 5 not in lustful passion as the pagans do, in their ignorance of God and his ways. 6 7 God has called us to be holy, not to live impure lives. 8 Anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human rules but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

Proverbs chapter 23 (TEV)

27 Prostitutes and immoral women are a deadly trap. 28 They wait for you like robbers and cause many men to be unfaithful.

Gee those puritanical evangelicals sure do know how to pick em!

Why wasn't McCain asked the following follow-up question:
If the vetting process uncovered Gov. Palin's previous membership in the Alaska Independence Party, a political party which advocates for secession of Alaska from the United States, why doesn't McCain think this disqualifies her from the Vice Presidency of the United States? Please respond with attention to the fact that she has addressed the AIP's convention as recently as last year and that when Larry Kudlow of CNBC asked her about the potential of the VP slot in early August, she responded that she would "want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans".

There is still time for a real journalist to actually ask this question instead of relying on his campaign's spin that the vetting was thorough.

While Palin is a terrible choice for VP, the reflection on McCain's judgment to select her impulsively without a full understanding or analysis of her history and credentials is what will do more damage to the Republican ticket.

As a vocal and ardent supporter of Abstinence only sex education, Palin has some explaining to do. Either it doesn't work (which is what all the research shows) or she failed to teach her daughter what she need to know in order to not get pregnant. If Palin thinks all you have to say to your children is, "No, do have sex until your married!", and you'll stop teen-age pregnancy ..... proof's in her own wonderful, happy, wholesome Christian family.

I'm not worried about her kids, it's the ones who can't go to their family and expect support. What kind of message does this send to the youth of America??

On the one hand we have the allegations of "leftist media", when we don't know how some of the stories have come out. We do know that whatever their source, Barack Obama has said clearly and consistently, "Families are off limits"

We do know that personality smearing has been done by the RNC, by McCain's team, and often with McCain's knowledge and approval. It appears okay when McCain or Fox news spears a progressive candidate, but obviously not when unnamed persons smear the McCain/Palin ticket, question their judgment or vetting processes, or so on.

We've heard Barack Obama's denounciation of smearing McCain and Palin; let's hear McCain do the same thing about "The One" and other campaign ads that smear Barack Obama.

First, to lpscolo, who wrote "Sarah Palin has been the CEO of the largest state in the country for two years." lpscolo, Alaska has only 700,000 people and has extaordinary wealth from its natural resources revenue. This means that Caribou Barbie has been the governor of the 3rd smallest population in the nation with one of the highest revenues, meaning that Palin has never had the struggle of balancing a normal budget.

Second, to McCain, who says Palin was thoroughly vetted: Palin was a member of the AIP, a separatist movement that wanted Alaskans to vote on having Alaska secede from the Union. How does this reinforce your current campaign motto of "America First?"

McCain, there are several highly qualified women Republicans who really are ready to be President or VP today. Palin is not one of them. So why did you choose Palin over the other women Republicans?

McCain, we know what a sucker you are for a pretty gal. That's why, when you returned from Vietnam to see that your first wife Carol (your formerly beautiful 5'9'' swimsuit model wife and the mother of your daughter Sidney) had been horribly disfigured from a car accident and was now 5'4'', overweight from being wheelchair bound and no longer beautiful, you cheated on her for a few years before you finally divorced her in order to marry Cindy, a hot wealthy woman 18 years younger than you whose father would bankroll your aspirations to become a national politician.

Strong work, McCain! We know all about your character and why you chose Caribou Barbie (Palin) over less beautiful but much-better-prepared Republican women.

It's over for McCain. He really messed up with picking a 44-year old former beauty queen with 20 months of executive experience as Governor of Alaska (pop: ~700,000) and 4 years of executive experience as Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska (pop: 5000).

James Carville on Larry King's Show on Monday night held up a picture of the Wasilla City Hall and said it looked like a "bait-and-tackle store" in South Louisiana. Even though I'm not a fan of Carville, I laughed hard, because being from a Southern state, the Wasilla City Hall did look like a bait-and-tackle store.

The Prominent Republicans in the media spotlight who support this McCain/Palin ticket are looking like idiots in their defense of it. Conservatives are the only ones who truly understand McCain's choice of Palin as VP, and McCain recognized that in his choice of VP, conservatives are the only vote that he needed to capture to win this election. McCain is the most liberal presidential candidate that we have ever seen from the Republican party. Liberals will undermine the Obama campaign if they are not careful about the attention they give to Palin. Obama will win unless Palin becomes the focus of this election. She represents the future of the conservative party in America, just as the Democratic party now belongs to Obama.

So called "family values" voters are not really for family values when the Repubs they are trying to elect fall short in that area.

Teenage pregnancy is a serious issue because of out of wedlock sex. As Christians, we can condone that, excuse it, or gloss over it.

McCain's adulterous affair with his now 2nd wife before he divorced his first wife should be a "family values" issue also. He life Carol with 3 children to raise while he went off with a women with no children 17 years younger and prettier.

Family values belong to the other party in this election.

Having a pregnant 17 year-old daughter shouldn't make us question Palin's ability or judgement. It ust shows that "abstinence only" education doesn't work. What we should be more concerned about is a woman, who at age 42 or 43 chooses pregnancy when it is much more likely to result in a child with Downs Syndrome. Then choosing a political career over the obvious amount of time a special needs baby needs in it's infancy.
What is distrubing to me about the issue of Bristol Palin's pregnancy is the shielding of the young man who impregnated her. Where is he? Why isn't he named? To put the spotlight on Palin's daughter and cry "shame!" without putting some of the responsiblity on the man who impregnated her reeks of sexsim and the disgusting way society has treated children of unmaried parents for centuries. It also reeks of the kind of GOP secrecy and hypocrisy we have had to endure for too many years.

Wow, Gov of the 48th state (in population) makes you qualified to run the nation? Oh, and being the Gov is not the same as being the CEO. That is a specious argument and clearly a GOP Talking Point for the day.

And the status of her daughter is an issue when the Repubs spent so much time flaunting their Family Values creds. When a teenager gets knocked up and then her daughter follows the same path in the South they are considered White Trash. Why should a GOP Gov get a pass?

For God's sake, McCain supporters; can you please stop with the attacks on Democrats? There are some very serious issues that need to find the light of day, and your violent refusal to inquire about them is wasting precious time. It is imperative that we get to the bottom of all the rumors, for two very good reasons. One, if a rumor is proven to be false, the people who helped spread it are discredited. Two, if a rumor is proven to be true, the electorate can use the information to make a better choice. If our goal is to find the best possible person for our Oval Office, we should not be afraid of the truth. After 8 years of Bush and Cheney's lies, we should be hungry for some truth. Instead of trashing a poor 17 year old's reputation in the national media, I propose that Sarah Palin prove all the nasty rumormongers wrong by producing her medical records in full. That will shut the lying liberals up, right? Right? Hello? Anyone out there?

How does having 17 year old pregnant daughter diminish anyone's qualifications for being a VP. She is getting married to the father, and having the baby, if anything it strengthens Palin's credibility as a pro-lifer. Liberals are grasping at straws because they are scared, and know that they're candidate lacks any substance.

Palin supporters as usual missed the point again, like they have always done with McCain. It is not that a daughter of this VP wannabe who is pregant out of wedlock that is the problem. The problem is with her mother and her double standards that common sensical people find so disturbing. This woman, Palin, preaches against contraceptions, pre-marital sex, any form of sex education, not to mention, a woman's right to choose in extreme circumstance, and yet, voiala, she has a daughter right under her nose who got pregnant at such a tender age, out of wedlock. We feel for Bristol but we don't forgive her mother's hypocricy. Palin, learn to practise what you preach so loudly first, in your own home.

Now, McCain is shedding crocodile tears over his VP's daughter's situation. Remember when McCain launched into Chelsea Clinton when she was just a child in the White House? Now he is asking us to give Palin's daughter the sensitivity he couldn't find in his heart for Chelsea.

I'm not so concerned that Palin's underage, unwed daughter is pregnant reflects badly on Palin's role as a parent. I am much more concerned that Palin herself was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party and still supports the group according to AIP party spokespersons.

This is a group that supports the succession of Alaska from the United States. How the GOP could nominate a potential traitor to the office of the Vice-Presidency in a time of war is hard to understand. Its putting party politics before country. I can't vote for this!

This whole thing is getting ridiculous. So what, her daughter got knocked up, her husband got a DWI 22 years ago......what's next? She forgot to turn the light off in the closet? She took two straws when she only bought one drink at McDonald's? This is evidence of just how sick and power-hungry the spoiled and whiny members of the left in this country are. Here we have someone who, unlike the Chicago Communist, actually does represent an opportunity for real "change" in Washington, and they haven't let up on her from day 1. They'll throw anybody under the bus to get their way, even kids, and justify it because it's all (you guessed it!) "for the children."

The press is going to do to her what they did to Bush from the second he took office. And I'm not defending Bush or the many, many stupid things he's done, but nonetheless it's the same pattern. The leftist media is going to keep hammering away at her and they are not going to let up. It's just going to be one story after another of spinning her in a negative light, "Palin is bad......Palin is bad.....Palin is bad"; until people just forget the issues and automatically come to see her in a negative manner whenever her name is brought up. It's simple conditioning is all it is. As Orwell always said, if you just keep saying anything enough times, eventually people will believe it.

Sarah Palin is no Hillary but the McCain / Palin election slaps the democratic party for their failure to nominate the most electable candidate simply because Hillary is a woman. Instead the dems were happy to nominate a man seriously lacking experience and judgement which he covered by playing the race card and useing sexism to win the nomination. For those concerned with the Supreme Court which is a democratic scare tactic.........no one is appointed to Supreme Court with out approval from the majority of the Senate.....the dems hold the majority in the Senate.

McCain Campaign is spinning. They always control their message. The "vetting" of Palin is occurring publicly and the politics is ahead of them. Palin threw that child, her child, to the wolves, yesterday. Today they want to blame others for their perverse scheme.

AIP Vice Chairman Dexter Clark: “Our current governor, who I mentioned at the last conference, the one we were hoping would get elected… Sarah Palin… did get elected, there’s a joke… she’s a pretty good-looking gal… there’s a joke goes around…that we’re the coldest state with the hottest governor…(room laughter). And there’s a lot of talk about her moving up… she was an AIP member before she got the job as a mayor of a small town, that was a non-partisan job. But you get along to go along. She eventually joined the Republican Party where she had all kinds of problems with their ethics and, uh, got well…I won’t go into that. Uh, she also has about an 80% approval rating and is pretty well sympathetic because of her, her former membership.”

PS: This selection confrims Senator McCains impulsiveness and wrong temperament.

The citizens of the United States of America [USA] have the ultimate power and responsibility to elect the Right Ticket with the right joint "temperament, judgment, and statesmanship" to lead our nation as well as change our nation's present and future moral, political, economic, educational, health care, energy, military, and foundational soul.

In my firm professional, personal, and political opinion, the media should help the common voter to explore and discuss the following attributes of the present Republican and Democratic presidential slates:

1. Does the joint ticket have a calm, cool, and collected " temper and impulse" [Presidential Temperament]?
2. Does each ticket have sound and sustained "Judgment and Caliber"?
3. Does each ticket have a "presidential depth and degree" in regard to their purpose, policies, and positions?
4. Does each ticket have adequate, "understanding and knowledge" of workings around Washington"?
5. Does each ticket have enough "vigor, wisdom and Vision" for the future of our beloved Great-grand Nation?
6. Does each ticket possess enough joint foreign policy experience and ex-poser based on "American Values, Virtues, Vastness, and strong soul"?
7. Are their campaign talk, slogans, ads, plans, and programs based on facts and are they free of fear, fiction, frivolous labels, unfair attacks, negativity, and impulsivity?

If your answer to a majority of the above questions is yes, I suggest you vote for that ticket. As a Independent registered voter I have decided to vote for Obama-Biden ticket. I am sure they will protect our national security, Strong's, stamina and strong soul. Rebuild our nation from bottom up in all areas of need, OBAMA-BIDEN ticket will once again restore and rebuild our global standing with the use of maximum international humane diplomacy and minimal force if and when indicated.

Yours sincerely,

If this vetting was "thorough," hate to think what would be in store for us with hard choices by McCain as commander in chief. Endless speculation as to why the old boy's choices after winging it stem from looking deep into someone's eyes or a direct connection with God (or the evangelical chorus) or what Daddy did or didn't do....

Mighty Bush=like. Four more years of it?

So McCain knew and supported that she was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA?

Really?

Even when their founder says "I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions." The late Joe Vogler, founder of the Alaskan Independence Party

McCain made a bad first decision and the Gov. should of never said yes.
