RNC to File FEC Complaint on Obama Fundraising Practices

By Matthew Mosk
A lawyer for the Republican National Committee today said the party will ask the Federal Election Commission to look into the source of thousands of small-dollar contributions to the presidential campaign of Sen. Barack Obama.

The RNC is alleging that the Obama campaign was so hungry for donations it "looked the other way" as contributions piled up from suspicious, and possibly even illegal foreign donors.

"We believe that the American people should know first and foremost if foreign money is pouring into a presidential election," said RNC Chief Counsel Sean Cairncross.

Cairncross alleged there was mounting evidence of this, and cited a report in the current issue of Newsweek magazine that documents a handful of instances where donors made repeated small donations using fake names, such as "Good Will" and "Doodad Pro."

The Newsweek report says that earlier this year the Obama campaign returned $33,000 to two Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip who had bought T-shirts in bulk from the campaign's online store -- purchases that count as campaign contributions. The brothers had listed their address as "Ga.," which the campaign took to mean Georgia rather than Gaza.

"While no organization is completely protected from Internet fraud, we will continue to review our fundraising procedures," Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt told the magazine.

At the heart of the RNC complaint is a federal fundraising rule that lets campaigns accept donations under $200 without itemizing the names and addresses of the donors on its campaign finance reports. The rule was intended as a matter of practicality -- it did not seem reasonable to ask a campaign to gather that information from every five-dollar donor.

But the Obama campaign has raised more than $200 million this way, a staggering sum for donations that will not be subjected to outside scrutiny.

Obama campaign aides said today that a number of steps have been taken to safeguard against foreign or illegal contributions coming in in smaller increments. The measures include: requiring donors to present a passport at fundraising events held for Americans overseas, ending contributions to the Obama Store from contributors with addresses outside the U.S. or its territories, and requiring donors to enter a U.S. passport number when contributing via the Americans Abroad page.

"When we were made aware of an ad for a Nigerians for Obama fundraiser in a Nigerian paper, our attorneys sent a letter to the paper making it clear the event had nothing to do with our campaign, and that we would not accept contributions from the event," one Obama aide said.

And aides note that Sen. John McCain had his own foreign fundraising issues, having been forced to refund about $50,000 in donations solicited by Jordanian Mustafa Abu Naba'a, who was raising money on behalf of one of McCain's top Florida bundlers.

shdouglas, if McCain-Palin win this thing, you are going to have egg on your face. Also, he did "instruct" Obama to suspend his campaign.

dbw1,let me flip script and let me name a few of the decisions McInsane has made to make my case against voting for him. I promise not to go back to far as to belabor the time: "I am suspending my campaign, and have instructed the Obama campaign to do the same"; it is your campaign but it is the people's elections, and it over at a time already decided. Leave if you like, but don't ask anybody to give a d*am, "I select Sarah Palin as my running mate", she has a degree in journalism, no experience in constitutional law, embraces "joe six-packs", and lists her foreign policy exp. as being able to see Russia from her back yard; "Life isn't fair", wow, how arrogant and pouty can you get? You are a multi-millionaire, have 7-10 houses, 5-6 cars, and life isn't fair. Sit your a*s down. Should I stop right here? This arrogant, 70+ plus, grumpy, white multi-millionare is erratic and out of touch. I hope you feel me, NO Way, No How, No McInsane. Obama 2008

It amazes me how easily Obama supporters faithfully kneel at their saviors feet! It doesn't even matter if you throw facts out there or post excerpts from books or show them video tape with da*#ing evidence. It's almost as if they are under some type of hynotic trance! They are so hungry for change that they will go after it at whatever cost.

People do not investigate each candidate anymore to see who is truly prepared to lead this country. They are more interested in cult of personality worship and who their friends are voting for.

Why not read some excerpts from his book, Dreams from My Father to see how much hate he has for white people and America?

Why would a man belong to a hate-filled church for 20 years, say PUBLICLY that Rev. Wright made him who is today (2007), then distance himself when he is questioned right at the beginning of the campaign?

Why did he campaign for Raila Odinga, his Kenyan socialist cousin who signed a pact with Muslims to create an Islamic state and enact Sharia Law if elected?

Why are so many Muslims in the US and around the world praying that he wins? (believe me...it's not because they are happy he will have talks with them)

Is this the "Agent of Change," as he likes to call himself, you want? Are you prepared to have socialism instead of a democracy? Sharia Law instead of Constitutional Law? Get your burkas ready ladies! I'm sure you'll look devine!

If you are serious about getting facts instead of coming on here talking smack about them all being rumors, make it a point to watch this video below and read parts of his book. Learn about what filled his head and heart each Sunday in that building they call a church for 20 years.

And just incase you still believe that Islam is a religion of peace and Sharia Law can never happen here....It has already happened in Britain. First for the Muslim, but it won't take long to make it a law governing all British citizens.

A man who came out of Islam has begun to tell his story about how they lie, lie, lie to get into countries, gain sympathy for their religion, get into politics, and slowly take over. He says Americans are very easy to trick using sympathy and they think we're all morons and they are leading us as sheep to the slaughter. The MSM is trying to muzzle this arab man!

We will wake up one day and wonder how we became an Islamic nation. It's their secret jihad and they're waging it globally!

As you watch this video, take in each picture and video snippet. Ask yourself what this man, Raila Odinga stands for. Then after you see Obama campaigning for him when he knows full well what Odinga stands for, ask yourself if this presidental candidate is being honest with America about the change he wants to bring here.

FEC Queries McCain Campaign on 'Excessive Contributions'

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/10/06/fec_queries_mccain_campaign_on.html

While the Republican Party is pushing the Federal Election Commission to investigate the possibility that Democrat Barack Obama collected excessive contributions, its own candidate is facing scrutiny on the same subject...

I checked my area and sorted by employer / occupation, and guess what? Many of the ones that name an oil/gas company contributed to OBAMA! He also has a lot that say "unknown." McCain has a lot that say "retired" and "homemaker." Interesting!

The $200 million figure is the total amount of Obama contributions less than $200, this doesn't mean that those are all somehow questionable donations.

Also McCain has already returned more than the $50k you mention.

"John McCain has had to return over $1.2 million to donors who potentially violated the law with their contributions," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement Sunday. "We look forward to a thorough investigation into whether John McCain’s campaign has returned all of the money it raised from foreign nationals," Burton added."

I wouldn't be at all surprised if these fraudulent donations were put in there on purpose by McCain's people so they could cite this 'illegal fundraising' as another attack against Obama. After all, anyone can go on line and do this. Why would a real Obama supporter want to cause trouble? It has to be someone at the RNC

Posted by: puzzled2 | October 6, 2008 4:52 PM

I have donated small amounts to the Obama campaign over the past year and you almost have to fill out a questionaire before the money is donated. They get all of your information and they keep a tally so you know and they know how much is donated. We also have citizens living abroad so that could be where the overseas donations are coming from.

Every attack the GOP makes on this man it is always about what someone else has done. It is never something Obama has done. Is this suppose to be the October surprise.

These campaign abuses highlight the major problem with Obama, we do not know who he is! The most well documented and resourced site, that I have found, highlighting the outstanding questions and some unfortunate answers about Obama is:

www.theobamafile.com

I would urge all honest voters to visit this site. It is very voluminous, providing a plethora of background on Obama. It is operated by a guy named Beckwith, who describes himself as “northeast US -- old guy -- old school -- veteran -- technologist – retired” and discloses his politics as “conservative -- registered as "Unenrolled" -- no party affiliation” and sets forth his agenda as “opposed to a Socialist sitting in the Oval Office”. While he admits that his site is “an opposition website”, he does not include in any of his materials the various unproven rumors about Obama, such as “Sinclair, the Quran and madrassa charges”.

http://www.theobamafile.com/about.htm

Even if you are an Obama supporter, I know that you will benefit by finding out more about your candidate. As I said, the site is well documented and archived. Do your duty as a citizen of this great country, BEFORE YOU VOTE.

Go here and you can see all the other donations from the Edwan's were returned already.

You can also check on anyone else's name, or download all the donations.

So why is it that 2 Palestinians are so infatuated with Obama that they would buy $33,000 worth of tee-shirts from his online store?
Why do Palestinians want him to lead the U.S.? Do they think he would be softer than a John McCain? Or do they like his Arabic name and heritage? It's fine to send the money back but some reporter should look into who these guys are and if there are others.

I've read all the repeated Democratic talking points to the point it is sickening. People...Your candidate, Obama, cannot even count and yet you want to give the control over to him. The man's character is seriously flawed. All of his schooling (choices of heros) is grounded in radical Islam or Black theology or Marxist...forget socialism. Why not do this...google independent sources and find out who and what your candidate believes. After all...if you want a loser to lead the USA...then you become a loser and drag me down with it...oh well, I guess that's the beginning of Socialism...and so goes the Stock Market.

HEY GOP! Those mysterious contributions you are so suspicious of, NEWSFLASH, they are from "normal" people. You know, the kind that make less than $250,000 a year. The kind who don't rely on their friends and corrupt government to obtain their positions in Alaska. The kind that don't rely on their mommy and daddy's money and connections to get them into a prestigious military school that they otherwise would have never gotten into. The kind of people who only own 1 house. The kind of people who don't have severe anger management issues, but rather a kind, hopeful, honest and giving personality. Normal people. Look up the word, and try to follow it GOP!

Why is it when those who are about to reap what they sow and get their tail handed to them in a contest of any sort can't take the beat down like an adult and live with it. OBAMA will be the next president, even though I as an independent consevative African-American don't agree with him or John McCain totally. I can see the reason McCain picked Palin as his running mate, is because he was about to be slaughtered in reality come November as Reagan did Mondale back in the 1984 elcetion. Teh writing is on the wall get over it.

Posted by: PATreadwell | October 6, 2008 11:57 AM

All these attacks on Obama are just to distract you from the real pressing issue that McCain is losing on, the economic crisis.

The breaking news on CNN tells the real story...

"Dow plummets more than 300 points, falling below 10,000 for the first time in nearly 4 years, as anxiety over global slowdown grows."

It is curious why all these old Obama attacks that date back months if not years are just coming up now. I suspect McCain/Palin want to make this race about anything but the economy.

Posted by: nowanna3 | October 6, 2008 10:51 AM

"Donations under $200 do NOT have to be listed as to who they were from.
First of all, it ISN'T A GOP ISSUE - IT IS A UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ISSUE."

I agree, and both campaigns are following the same rules. And I suspect both of them would not be found totally faultless if all these

But the solution is not to point fingers at one campaign. How about changing the law?

Again - you can't refute this is FACT

1. Obama has been associated with and had dealings with individuals with questionable characters: Tony “The Syrian” Rezko, Rev. Wright, The American Terrorist Ayers.
2. Obama has taken MILLIONS IN TAX PAYER DOLLARS IN EARMARKS http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/09/obama_dollars.html

4. Has accepted millions in donations from abroad including $33,000 from Palestinians in The Gaza Strip. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/10/05/rnc_to_file_fec_complaint_on_o.html

I'm the Obama people are very nice when it comes to donations, and should rightly so call someone out if openly inquiring about donating from overseas...but here's the problem.

Donations under $200 do NOT have to be listed as to who they were from.

You said...
"I don't think the GOP will get any traction on this issue, any more than on their other current attack issues. McCain simply hasn't managed to convince the majority of voters that his proposed solutions will benefit our country."

First of all, it ISN'T A GOP ISSUE - IT IS A UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ISSUE. The only traction it needs in in your head that foreign countries and people are influencing this election. If anything you should be outraged that such crap could come from you candidate.
Secondly, McCain actually has solutions and didn't come from Fairyland like Obama did.

Obamaism you can see him saying in everyone of his speeches....

"...Now John McCain says...Now, I don't know about you, but that's not what I call ..."

"...he/they/she just don't get it..." And then offers NO freakin' solution.

"not with a bang, but a whimper."

Posted by: stonebridgejjk | October 6, 2008 9:44 AM

I'm an Independent too...but I'd rather vote for McCain than a sleazball like Obama.

Uhm... let's see...Who would be on Obama's Cabinet?

He already has Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac exs running his campaign - taking illegal donations from overseas...

...Maybe Farrakhan? Rev Wright? How about those terrorists in Palestine? You know Iran has probably made donations to him if a couple of Palestinians have...

How is "WRONG" "RIGHT" WHEN YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT "CHANGE"?

That's just a little 2Faced if you ask me.

Posted by: jaxson | October 6, 2008 9:43 AM

As a regular Joe Six-Pack (draft root beer, please), I've been making small contributions to the Obama campaign over the course of the past year.

If they are letting some inappropriate donations sneak through, it's not for lack of oversight.

I get e-mail solicitations from them a couple times a week, and they are always right on top of my donation history. They know the number of donations, the grand total to date, largest single donation etc.

Considering the millions and millions of donors, I can see how someone could "game the system" to some extent with multiple, separate $10 donations. But the campaign doesn't want to be seen as lax enforcers, and they are vigorous in their efforts to weed out these types of abuses as soon as they're uncovered.

I've seen instances of people writing to the Obama blog area, inquiring how they can make contributions from overseas, if they aren't US citizens, etc. In cases where the contributions can't be accepted, bloggers always advise them please don't try to give money. We are all well aware of the problems it could cause.

I don't think the GOP will get any traction on this issue, any more than on their other current attack issues. McCain simply hasn't managed to convince the majority of voters that his proposed solutions will benefit our country.

You just proved my point...Obama isn't willing to fix the problem WITHIN HIS OWN CAMPAIGN...Because it favors him...

Only a Scumbag would take advantage of the Loophole. Obama has shown over and over, that he is deceitful and downright dishonest. The best he can do against McCain is bring up the Keating 5 which was over 30 yrs ago...I smell a FAKE, PHONY, FRAUD.

Posted by: jaxson | October 6, 2008 8:33 AM

The political comments aside, this is a problem. Either political party could abuse the system through small donations.

How to 'fix' this is an interesting problem. As they apparently keep the credit card numbers (as evidenced by the ability to return the $33,000 contribution by the Palestinians), perhaps the FEC should require some kind of program to be run on a regular basis to compare numbers. Using multiple credit cards would defeat that technique, though. Another, idea would be to require the credit cards to be registered and verified along the lines of PayPal before they could be used to make a donation. The more convoluted we make the process, though, the more esoteric the attempts to thwart it will become.

This is an obvious loophole in the law that could seriously compromise the integrity of campaign financing laws. As current rules stand it wouldn't take much for a rogue organization to funnel substantial sums of cash to a candidate. Perhaps we are better just limiting contributions to citizens, remove the caps, and be done with it.

I read with great interest your article ‘RNC to File FEC Complaint on Obama Fundraising Practices’ published in the on-line edition of the Washington Post on October 5th 2008.
I believe that honest and transparent fundraising practices are fundamental for an honest and transparent political system.
I find it appalling however that it is the RNC that is questioning the fundraising practices of the Democratic ticket. It is my firm belief that the fundraising practice of Mr. Obama is a fine example of honest ‘nickel and dime’ grass roots politics, and, in fact, it is the RNC’s practice of accepting huge donations from special interests lobbyists that should be brought immediately before the FEC.
Together with the FEC, we should examine closely how the RNC plans to pay back those special interest ‘loans’.

Your story starts with:
‘The RNC is alleging that the Obama campaign was so hungry for donations it "looked the other way" as contributions piled up from suspicious, and possibly even illegal foreign donors.
"We believe that the American people should know first and foremost if foreign money is pouring into a presidential election," said RNC Chief Counsel Sean Cairncross.’

Well, let me tell Mr. Cairncross an interesting story.
I am an American Citizen, (born in the US - 7th generation Californian) but currently living in Italy. I am a registered voter, and I consider my right to vote a great honor and privilege. Although I am living abroad at the moment, I vote with pride and love for America, and this year especially, I pass hours each day catching up on the campaign by reading the major national newspapers as well as blogs from both the right and left. Well guess what Mr. Cairncross? I have been unable to donate money to the Democratic party! I have tried in vain numerous times to donate money to the campaign of Mr. Obama, but it was refused due to the fact that my bank account is not in the US.
I have written numerous time to various institutions attempting to donate 25 US dollars in any manner possible and to receive a T-Shirt but my donation has been refused. Maybe other Americans who don’t have a bank account in the US have been more successful in their attempt to donate money to their candidate of choice, I don’ know, but I have been unsuccessful. My experience is that the Obama campaign is doing everything possible to accept money only from US citizens, who are in the US, with bank accounts in the US, from the grass roots up.
If this practice is unacceptable to Mr. Cairncross and his lobbyist millionaire friends, I would be interested to know why! Mr. Cairncross, lets get back to the problems at hand, lets get back to taking care of our country, to its future, to its politics, and not the ‘RNC politics as usual’ that has decimated our great land.

and Mr. Caincross, please let me know how your investigation goes, and let me know if you discover how I can donate !

I've transmitted several small donations to Obama over the internet. Each time I did, I was actually a little frustrated about how many qualifying statements you have to plow through before the donation activates. I can't, for example, remember being asked for my job title by any other group. So I just don't get it, unless this is a Rove tactic to throw the Obama team off balance, or to do their every-day-a-new-accusation-for-the-news-cycle thing. McCain's people are beginning to seem like the Boy Who Cried Wolf...pretty soon, no one will listen to them; they've cried out so many false alarms. McCain has also had Internet donation sites all over the web, so perhaps the Obama campaign needs to look into those.

Posted by: Niverville | October 6, 2008 5:38 AM

Though I'll be voting for McCain, Obama will be president. No doubt about it. And I can accept losing with dignity. But I hate to see what will happen to our proud military, our freedom of dissent against liberals, against abortion on demand, against gay marriage, against the cultural atheism and anti-christian bigotry waiting in Obama's wings - seething with rage and aching for vengeance. An Obama presidency will usher in a foreign policy of change: appeasement to enlarge Palestine, negotiations with Holocaust deniers and radical Islamists, and a capitulation to worldwide socialism in the name of saving the environment. The economy may well improve, as it did during Hitler's early years. Kudos to Obama if so. But he claims to be a uniter, yet can offer nothing to conservatives - about 50% of the American electorate - to grab hold of. We as a nation are permanently divided and a nation divided cannot stand. As it was in the days of Lincoln, so it is today. Only God can save us from impending doom.

Posted by: oraclesradio | October 6, 2008 2:29 AM

I'm a US citizen living abroad in Seoul, South Korea. I've made a few small donations to the campaign. I hope that most of the donations are from people like me and I suspect they are because US citizen abroad, as well as those back home, are engaged with this election and we're paying attention.

October is the season for nasty attacks and all sorts of silly issues that they're going to try to force on us hoping we'll think they're a big deal.

Honestly, if this is all they can pull out of their hat, Obama must be doing very well.

Vote for all Democrats in '08

The Government will still be divided with the Republicans as a minority in both houses after November but as we can see that since the 2006 elections the Republicans still stopped major bills from passing and they were the minority. So lets make them pay in 2008 and vote Democrat!

Most of Europe is socalist and people live
healthier and far more secure lives, while enjoying at least as much freedom as in America and certainly better democracies.
At least they don't have to wait 4 years when some a___hole makes to the top political position. They can just vote no confidence for the offensive govt. to collapse and vote in a new one.

Right wingers constantly whine about McCain's day late, dollar short sponsorship a YEAR after the bill couldn't get out of a Republican committee in a Republican dominated congress with a Republican president. BTW, when the bill was reintroduced, McCain was nowhere to be found to support it again. THE FACTS ARE if the bill was important to the Republicans, the Republicans would have moved it out of committee and onto the Senate floor for a vote. The Democrats could have done nothing to stop Republicans from bringing it to a vote. The Republicans blocked the bill not Democrats. Republicans had the numbers, the control of the committee and the control of the Senate, the House and the Presidency. Republicans failed to bring the bill to a vote not Democrats.

snakes in the attic. only thing wrong with that is that the snakes crawl around with a need to find warmth. they slip thru little openings and join you in your bed when it is dark.these snakes try to make it dark, but they can't really make it dark so they just simply change their appearence and say the most crazy bezar thing to get you to take your eye off your goal. then if they are sucessfull they simply take the cloak off and you can see the snake for what he is , a snake. he could not hurt you at all he could not help you either. Hanity? Why don't you just say you read this information in the National Inquirer or on a gum wrapper.

Hanity would beat his mother with a bat if it meant the Repugnicant candidate would win.

The problem with McCain's strategy is Democratic voters actually do research. We aren't ideologues like the Repubs.

If you actually stick to the issues and look at their respective plans, campaigns, and intellectual prowess, Obama wins hands down.

McCain can only win if he disqualifies Obama in the minds of voters. From now on you won't hear much talk about McBush's plans; as if you did before. It's ALL going to be about Obama now. He must be disqualified at any cost.

McSame and Palin The Impaler are pathetic losers.

Hey-flyfishchef...I guess that means your a fly-fisherman that works as a chef.Thats great, you work with your hands and you love the outdoors..I do as well, but dont act like you know the difference between Marxism and Communisum therefore the rest of us are dumber than you...We know all we need to know-they both suck and anyone running this country had better agree...the problem is-we're not so sure Obama does.
With regard to the "60 minutes" report tonight-Why were the words "Community Reinvestment Act" never mentioned?..I guess it's all those greedy wall street types without any help from the people that stepped on the gas pedal like Barney Frank..or people happy to take credit for an all time high in minority home ownership like President Bush. They were both boneheads..both parties-but in the last 5 years only one party blocked any legislation to fix it.That is a fact
NEWSFLASH!-dont lend money to people that may not pay you back,no matter how nice they are,or what color they are,or how poor they've been their whole life.If they cant pay you back-your company will go bankrupt and the company your company owes money to will go bankrupt and so on and so on until my grandchildren (who arent even born yet) will have to pay on the debt from the bill the congress past on Friday...I know liberal orthodoxy is to be really really nice to everyone no matter what-but do me a favor and just be really really nice to your own family and leave mine to their own decisions.
One other thing-I know everyone on the left is having fun with what a simpleton Gov.Palin is...yes,she didnt go to Havard or Columbia like the other geniuses that got us into this mess but she is something that the country has been lacking for a long time-a leader. If you were all so much smarter than her you'd be a Governor but your not because-your not...I've been to Alaska and it's not a Republican culture (ask anyone in college at Fairbanks)-its a common sense culture, the topography dictates it.She doesnt get a 70%+ approval rating for no reason...but dont let me stop you, keep writing about what a dolt she is-your words are the only evidence of a dolt we need...keep typing, even though you've never done 1/10 with your life she has done with hers.
Everyone had better stop believing in a party and start thinking about this country's survival.

sorry was a while earlier, but i kinda found it funny that this commenter completely did the same thing he accused republicans of doing in the same comment.

...and honestly, don't speak or represent me, you can only do that for yourself. i'm pretty sure the American public can do the same for them selves without the help of an obvious far-left commenter on a news website.

not everyone is a liberal. get over it.

And one more thing, don't even try to act like democrats haven't ever screwed things up for the American public before, now or in the past.

"Posted by: RochesterTownie | October 5, 2008 10:04 PM"
"Good riddance bitter, angry right-wing reactionaries. You have nothing to offer the American public but lies and fears and whining and unsubstantiated rumors.

You have no policies to improve the lives of the American public but only offer more of the same incompetence and malfeasance of the last 8 years.

Most people don't hate Bush as a person. They hate Bush's failed, inept, Enron/Abramoff corrupted governance and your candidate McCain offers only more of the same.

No amount of Republican lying and whining and finger pointing and name calling will change the fact that Republicans caused this mess and are going to pay the ultimate political price in one month.

Keep whining and lying and name calling because the American public won't fall for it and your tactics disgust them.

Don't let the door hit you in the @$$ on the way out."

Cuyahoga County board investigating voter registration fraud

By Associated Press

POSTED: 12:29 p.m. EDT, Aug 28, 2008

CLEVELAND: The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections said it is investigating an organization that registers low-income voters after it turned up evidence of voter registration fraud.

The board doesn't know how many fake registrations came from the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. But the board said multiple ACORN workers often handed in voter registration cards listing the same people, but showing them living at different addresses.

The board said an ACORN quota requiring part-time workers to sign up 20 voters per five-hour shift played a role. The organization stopped the registration by the part-timers on Aug. 15.

Officials don't expect fraudulent registrations to affect the November election because of requirements that voters must show identification at the polls. ACORN said it has registered 86,000 new voters in the Cleveland area.

The democratic party was right in the middle of the Freddie Mac and Jennie mac melt down. Chris Dod, Chuck Shummer and Barney Frank used these two organizations as slush funds and commited God knows how much fraudlant activity. The FBI should be investigatin these crooks as soon as possible. The democartic party used ACORN operatives to intimidate banks in lending money (mortgages) to people who could not pay them back. The amount of fraud wrapped up in this mess is almost incalcuable. God help us all.

The RNC will belly ache about anything. You don't see Americans up in arms over US government interference by Australian born Rupert Murdoch, Saudi shaikhs, and smear tacticians in Texas.

It wouldn't surprise me if foreign donors did try to contribute. They are just as sick and tired of Republicans as the rest of the USA. In many ways this election is democracy versus the largest band of white collar criminals in world history: The Republican Party!

Time lines for withdrawal of American forces from Iraq are currently being negotiated by the Bush administration with the democratically elected Iraqi government at this very moment.

Fox, Drudge and Rush are completely unbiased in their reporting? All of the supposed Obama corruption has resulted in exactly ZERO indictments and no notices of investigation being filed by either the Justice Department - which you may have heard is led by a Republican - or States Attorneys General. All of the supposed illegal voter registrations supposedly going on have resulted in exactly ZERO governmental investigations and ZERO indictments. All your beloved right-wing lie spouting media outlets have is rumor and innuendo; nothing of substance. Nothing, zip, zilch, nada. Empty, baseless allegations not supported by investigations or indictments by any law enforcement agency in the United States.

In the interest of fairness, if I'm wrong, then provide links to news reports detailing federal, state or local government investigations into ANY of the allegations Rush, Sean, Fox and Drudge claim against Obama. If you can do so, I will gladly retract my comments.

However, there is one person running for high office who is currently under an active investigation by a governmental agency for potential unjust use of political influence, Governor Sarah Palin. There is also one person running for high office who has been reprimanded by a governmental agency, the U.S. Senate, for poor judgment in an attempt to interfere with an investigation into financial corruption by Frank Keating, Senator John McCain.

But don't worry. When the Democrats take over in November they'll clean up the mess Republican corruption and malfeasance have left behind. Obama and Biden will clean up this Republican caused mess just like Clinton cleaned up the corruption and malfeasance left behind by Reagan and Bush 41 and then presided over the largest economic expansion since World War II and leaving an almost half trillion dollar budget surplus.

It's been an interesting 8 years but America has had enough.

so I would like to ask the People
of American, those of you that are going to
vote for Obama/Biden open your eyes, clean
out your ears, clear your minds, think of this. The Obama/Biden ticket and their buddies in the media have been telling us how bad the economy is, how many people are
out of work, how people are forced into choosing between gas for their car, food
for their families or money for their medicine blah blah blah so how in the world
have they convinced a million people to put this ticket of Obama first and their families second and donate 200 dollars that they don't have to their campaigns? I would think that people with any brains would feed their family gas their car to go to work or buy their medicine before throwing money at a corrupted bunch of politicians like Obama/Biden SMELLS FISHY

In addition to Obama's connection with middle east terrorist his connection with an organization known as ACORN is also very problematic. Obama trained people to become ACORN operatives who helped with voter regisration but are also known to have also been involved in subversive activities. More specifically ACORN is a radical organization that that is involved in voter fraud (stealing elections and operating counter to the US constitution). And now one of ACORNs own is running for president. Please note that in the first mortgage bailout package the democrates had 20 million allocated for ACORN. This smells to high heaven and Barrack is right in the middle of all this mess. God help us all.

Yes, the RNC fears Obama's small donors...but not for the reasons articulated in this article. There is nothing more threatening and scary to them than a campaign supported by individual citizens.

I weatch FOX to see what the right wing nutters and trailer trash are up to...what people who like Jerry Spring/Judge Judy/ WWE and all that junk watch to be distracted from being used as working class cannon fodder....I also use it to work out who is a person not worth buying a beer for....FOX has no credibility at all....neither now does the Wall Street Journal since Murdoch swallowed that up into his empire....

This is an American election. If two arab gentlemen from Gaza are donating almost $30,000 to Obama's campaign, as it appears they have, this has to be dealt with. If one side wins through massing cheating, and by treating our elections like a mockery, that side would have a very tough time governing. If half of the electorate despises the president because he is a muslim and a cheater, as well as being a Chicago thug, a white radical, a black radical, a marxist, and a man who doesn't care what he does to win, this isn't going to go well. The Associated Press is cooking the stats on the polls, out of each 100 voters, 40 are strong democrats, only 29 are strong republicans. Obama may get the shock of his life on election day when he loses. Cheaters never win. He only won the senate in Illinois and Washington because he drove the others out of the race. He never actually got voted in anywhere except by default. The man is dangerous. Gore lost. Kerry lost. Clinton only won because Perot took conservative votes. Gore lost his own state. There are not enough mindless leftists in this country yet to vote for a socialist for President.

First of all , that is not a news program, fraud #1, second of all they are not fair, fraud #2, they are not balanced, fraud#3, they are not news, fraud# 4, and lastly they lie about everything, the biggest fraud there is.

I wonder how much of our tax dollars, recycled through the recently passed bailout, are going to turn up in McCain-Palin's campaign coffers? After all, those most responsible for the mess fit the profile of the kind of people likely to give those huge amounts to the Republican campaign. I'd like to see the GOP's books. How sure are we that the "firewall" has not been breached between the $80 million in taxpayer money McCain's spending on his own campaign, and the unlimited millions the RNC is going to spend on his behalf, not to mention the obscene amounts for GOP state party funds? Moreover, just who were those "Joe Sixpacks" who were giving $40,800 per plate at that Palin fundraiser in SoCal yesterday? No doubt many of them were former "Masters of the Universe" who desperately need the bailout cash to provide them with more taxpayer money for their contributions to McCain-Palin. Isn't it cute to watch trickle-down economics in action?

Posted by: pedraza1 | October 5, 2008 10:21 PM

The more I see and hear McCain in action, the more I fear the consequences of his becoming President. He just totally loses his cool and shoots off in all directions spewing out vile nonsense. Obama, on the other hand has maintained a calm and cool attitude, even when it looked as if Hilary Clinton was beating him initially in the primary. Obama is the type of leader we need in these difficult times.

I used to have a good opinion of McCain. I don't any more. I give him credit for all the suffering he endured during his imprisonment in N. Vietnam, but that does not make a person a great leader or even an adequate leader.

I believe that Obama will be a very excellent President, perhaps even a great one. I hope and pray that Obama wins because our country can not stand four more years of Republican control.

Posted by: saberman1 | October 5, 2008 10:21 PM

So one heck of a lot of foreign entities with possible ties to terrorism has been making donations to the Obama campaign. Imagine that. Gee could it be that since he made a promise to pull out of Iraq that would be the reason why radicals from overseas would want him in?
Then there would be no acountability just like he and his buddies did with fannie and freddy?
Or is this where Fannie and Freddie's money is getting laundered to help someone win a campaign?
Hey Barney Frank, you said 2 years ago that Fannie and Freddie were doing fine and "Poof!" where did all the money go? Overseas fronts only to turn around and send it back in with little no-name people from overseas to build up a presidential warchest that just happens to fall below the radar screen of scrutiny?
Hmmmm.... Me thinks sumptine is goin on.

apart from these doemstic smear and diversion campaigns I await trhe neocon repugs to try a offshore diversion to create fear and paranoia - their two main policies and election winners since 2000 - but everyone in the USA and teh world are sick of this from a bunch of redneck imbeciles - Not Joe Six packs but more like a bunch of Joe Dirts..

I suspect their little Georgian Puppet and Mc Cain sponsor Georgia tried to stir the Russians up with the car bomb last week - US Republican Sponsored terrorism - good on the Russians just saying it was those puppets and then proceeding with removing some road blocks as per the peace deal....but they will try again somewhere....

Now I still find it amusing that they say Obama pals up to terrorists when now their little Afghan puppet (and ex inter Oil exec - funny that ???) Karzi and one of the most despotic and un democratic regime in the world but Republican ally - Saudi Arabia says they want peace talks with the Taliban - isnt that what they say is a weakness of the Dems - HYPCRITS.. not to mention paying huge bucks to Insurgents and terrorists in Iraq not to shoot us guys (allowed to keep killing each other thou)... watch the dirty tricks increase and if the US voters fall for it kiss your country and economy good bye as these pigs with lipstick keep their nose in the Oil/War trough whilst keeping theman on the streets in permanent fear and paranoia whilst they loose their jobs and houses ... MC CAIN = DUMB DOWN USA...noted also Palins coach didnt use the Pygmailion lines "The rain in spain falls mainly in...." And he LIES about it. Denies it. And is never confronted with it by the liberal media.

It is no wonder his cult members are stupid, naive and have not a clue. They watch NBC, The View, E, Letterman and Comedy Central for their hard hitting political news.

Posted by: ChangeWhat | October 5, 2008 10:18 PM

I am not going to cast dispersions at those of you who have made your choice (either way) for President this year. I will however argue that the vetting of Senator Obama has been ignored by media outlets such as the New York Times, LA Times, CBS, NBC, and CNN. If it were not for FoxNews, Rush Limbaugh, and the Drudge Report, the majority of us would never have known about these very questionable relationships that Obama has had over the years. Do I believe that he is a terrorist-coddling, racist who wishes to overthrow our system of government? No. But I do believe that the man has made some terrrible judgment calls in the name of political expediency and his own career goals. Instead of just calling those of us who question Obama's character "racist, right-wing nuts"...understand that we just don't like what it is we see--especially when we feel that there was a bit of collusion from the media in covering it up. Is it too far-fetched to consider that he would probably never have made it this far if the media had done its job and made all these things more apparent back in November or December of 2007.
I am a veteran of the Iraq war and as much as I disagree on it being a focal point in the "War on Terror", I would never, in any way shape or form subvert my comrades-in-arms by saying we should just pull out, or give any of their enemies a glimmer of hope by putting out an official timeline. Senator Obama once again (shrewdly) hedged his bets on the emotionality of the issue when he hitched his wagon to that cause. It seems that this has been, and will be, the way he runs his career. Finger in the air, find out which way the emotional winds of America are blowing and tap into that.
Yes, I am an ardent McCain supporter. Have been since he announced his candidacy. However, I will state here and now that I sincerely hope that Obama wins next month. I believe that this economy will not make a comeback within the next 5 to 6 years and I would definitely like for all that public ire and ill will to be hung around Obama and the Dems in congress' necks. He may smile and say what some in the masses like to hear now. But when the going starts getting tough, it isn't empty platitudes that are going to get us through, Americans are going to realize what an empty suit they elected to the highest office in our land and they are going to give him and his Democrat cronies the boot...for a LONG time!

Posted by: lawman1964 | October 5, 2008 10:18 PM

This is silly season in politics from a desperate dredge the absolutely harrasment dregs of political tactics to make up for coming up empty on the part of the McCain campaign. I have contributed over the course of the last year in the five ten or at most twenty-five dollar category, I've had my twenty-five dollar "matching fund" matched to bona fide email addresses one for twenty and one for five for small donors. Every single time I have to fill out an easily verifiable complicated form in order to contribute, that not only takes my promise but requires a credit card account with a U.S. address that they cross check with the post office for authenticity. This is just another pathetic, desperate smear and paranoia campaign. The republicans have nothing left to do but hope to demoralize the populace so they won't again vote for anyone. Some patriots

Desperation is ugly and Mc Grumpy and Sarah the parrot have nothing else but to pander to their base of lesser educated crackers. America has seen this movie when we elected George W. Bush twice and we know how that has ended up. Vote Hope Not Fear America. I have personally met Barack Obama five times and he is the real deal He has superior intellect and integrity two strengths we cannot find in the current Republican clowns. We must restore Americas standing in the world and our economy. Iraq costs us 10 billion a month plus the loves of our troops and there is no such thing as Victory in the war we were lied into. General Petraeus who Mc Cain loves to mention said there is no such thing as victory Mr. Mc Same. The battleground states are now reflecting the fact that America is too smart to buy the same fears that Rove is trying to peddle to us again. Obama will win in a landslide and that my friends is a great thing for our country. OBAMANOS! YES WE CAN! SI SE PUEDE! Iam a decorated veteran who has a son in Iraq and I approve this message!

Posted by: pedraza1 | October 5, 2008 10:07 PM

Here is something else Pelosi and the Democrats don't want you to remember or know (in case you are too young to have LIVED THROUGH THIS):

Every vote for Obama is a vote for higher gas and energy prices.

As the bail-out bill was being drawn up, Senator Harry Reid injected a BAN ON SHALE OIL into it. Our country has more oil in shale than Saudi Arabia has in resourses! Now, we can't use it to free ourselves from foreign oil dependence.

Democrats stopped nuclear/electric plant construction in the late 1960's and are STILL against building new plants.

Democrats are AGAINST drilling closer than 50 miles off-shore, where all the oil is recoverable! Yes, the ban expired, but son't think they won't reinstitute it as soon as the election is over.

Democrats CAUSED our dependence on foreign oil and have no intention of changing this, as Senator Reid CONFIRMS with his BAN on shale oil.

If you are rich...you might not care.
If you aren't rich and vote for a Democrat for House or Senate you are voting to keep oil and energy prices HIGH. Prices will go even higher after the election if we give the Democrats control of the presidency, along with the House and Senate.

Democrats have a PROVEN RECORD on drilling (against it), nuclear power (against it) and shale oil ( did you hear about Senator Reid's ban???).

Wise UP, folks! It is YOUR LIFE! Don't vote to make things harder on everyone in this country because you like someone's charisma. Look at what they would DO to make our country stronger and our lives easier, not harder.

All it would take to absolutely RUIN this country is to stop supplying us with oil or making it way more expensive.

Every vote for Obama is a vote to NOT using what we have to lessen dependence and strengthen our country.

How rich are YOU?

No small wonder that Obama is receiving contributions from Gaza. The big question is where is the money coming from? My best bet would be terroist organizations located in the middle east. Now Mr Obama has a lot of explaining to do. His affiliation with Bill Ayers a known terroist and now with middle east organizations spell nothing but big trouble for Mr Obama. Add this to the fact that he has been connected to the fall of Freddie and Jennie Mack (former excutives of Freddie and Jennie are now on his staff and they received millions in bonus money when they left). In my opinon the FBI should be investigating at least two senators (Schumer and Dodd) and one congressman (Barney Frank who ran a male prostution ring in his basement). This is all sleaze from A to Z and now us taxpayers are stuck with the bill.

Good riddance bitter, angry right-wing reactionaries.

Don't let the door hit you in the @$$ on the way out.

All of my small donations to Obama's campaign came from me.

These people tend to accuse others of what they are guilty of. Someone should be looking to see if McCain was looking the other way while foreign donors financed his campaign.

Did the GOP send money from overseas into Obama's account?

Are there bigger issues.

For instance, did Palin lie when she told Couric that she read newspapers, all of them? Does that lie worry the GOP or is it inly concerned with winning?

The GOP does not care about scruples. Its own people cheat and cheat.

It's about time, but too damned late! Fully half of the $429 million collected by the Obama campaign comes from foreign sources bundled in amounts under $200! Hillary Clintion first raised the issue because of excessive irregularities in Obama's reporting and failure to report. For instance, $33,000 from two brothers in Gaza for the purchase of t-shirts! Whi9le they listed their address as Texas, the Obama people shiopped the t-shirts to Gaza with no questions asked. There' more! And the amount of money coming in, the failure of the Obama Marxists to fully account for the monies is not just disturbing but typical of the kind of political hack and opportunist the candidate is. The man has no crediblity in anything. His "life story" is as much fiction as his supposed warning of the financial crisis which somehow doesn't appear in the Congressional Record! But fraudulent donations are just the tip of the Obama iceberg! There's the thousands upon thousands of fake, duplicate and fictitious voter registrations in Ohio and other "swingstates" that have been uncovered! These are by Obama's good buddies ACORN! The entire Obama campaign is a giant Marxist run fraud designed to steal elections, funnel foreign money and to sell out America by a man who claims to have been been born in Hawaii but can't prove it!

Posted by: vgailitis | October 5, 2008 9:52 PM

Posted by: gippers1 | October 5, 2008 9:52 PM

How ironic is it that Obama requires a passport from fundraisers that are making donations in a different country, but the Democrats constantly fight legislation to require a photo ID to vote for the President of the United States? You can't even check a book out of the library without a photo ID but somehow it is intimidation to ask somone for their ID to vote for the leader of our country. Watch the mess in Ohio and Wisconsin on November 4 with the widespread fraud.

It is comical to read the increasing desperation in the comments of the rabid right posters on these message boards. There is no articulation of a SINGLE McCain/Palin policy that would benefit the middle class.

The only way they can be heard to whine the usual completely unsubstantiated Obama is a Marxist/Leninist/Communist/Socialist juvenile name calling. The best part is the right wing shills calling Obama Marxist/Leninist since the ideologies are incompatible demonstrating how far education standards have declined in American under inept Republican malfeasant government.

The only straws the right-wing nut-cases can grasp are unsubstantiated nonsense from sources as credible as Weekly World News and The National Enquirer.

Only one candidate running for president has been reprimanded by the U.S. Senate for bad judgment. John McCain in the Keating 5 Scandal. There have been no Senate reprimands or investigations for Biden or Obama.

Only one person running for vice-president is under a currently active investigation by a Republican led political body. That would be Governor Palin.

It will be very interesting when the Trooper Gate report that McCain's Republican operatives have been trying obstruct comes out in a few weeks after their stalling tactics were smacked down by the courts and people who have been subpoenaed decide to cooperate. Perhaps this is why Palin is attacking Obama now to soften the blow of what the report being prepared by the Republican majority committee in a Republican majority legislature is going to report about her.

Governor methinks thou dost protest too much.

To those who questioned my voting for Senator Obama & my values:

I never said I was republican. I happen to agree with them on certain issues.

Yes, I believe life begins at conception; however, I'm don't think Roe v. Wade should be overturned. Mainly to keep the old way of terminating pregnancies from returning...

Yes, I believe that people should work hard to get the best in life; however, I don't think we should terminate help for those that decide to start paying their own way until they're on their feet.

Yes, I believe that this country is worth fighting for, and that when we get pushed, we should go and kick some azz; however, make sure you have all the facts before you send people's families in harm's way.

You put the words "republican" and "values" together. I'm sure that's true, because there are republicans that I agree with. However, there are democrats that I agree with as well.

I will do my research, as I have already been doing. Thanks for the replies.

Arnold R. Weber is A Chicago Annenberg Board Member. He was an Assistant Secretary of Labor and Associate Director of the Office of Management and Budget under President Nixon. Weber, former president of the Commercial Club of Chicago’s Civic Committee, is a longtime Republican donor. Along with Barack Obama, he was a member of the **Chicago Annnenberg Challenge Board** founded by KNOWN "TERRORIST" BILL AYERS!!!

Sarah "Pitbull" Palin was doing "guilt by association". This is a two way street. McCain accepted tainted campaign contributions from Arnold R. Weber, an associate of Bill Ayers.

Weber has given $1,500 to the McCain Campaign in 2008! In 2008, Arnold Weber made donations of $1,000 and $500 to McCain’s presidential campaign.

The "liberal" media isn't investigating why John McCain accepted CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS from this "terrorist" associate. This guy doesn't deny he associates with a known terrorist (mainly because he hasn't been asked).

It turns out that these types of "facts" are simply baseless attacks with no merit. They are meant to distract the gullible voters. You don't hear about them because most people want to talk about real issues affecting real lives and not play "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon".

For example, it turns out that you can trace Obama's family tree to both George W. Bush (10th cousins once removed) and Dick Cheney (eighth cousins). This is yet another useless fact for games of Trivial Pursuit, but not worthy of any time in this election. Guilt by association is an attack on informed voters and on the democratic process itself.

However... Now RICK DAVIS is worth talking about. Why? Check this out.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Davis_%28politics%29

Here is a guy that made MILLIONS as a Washington lobbyist. This guy is a caricature of the very thing that John McCain claims over and over again that he "hates". EARMARKS ANYONE? Rick Davis PRACTICALLY INVENTED EARMARKS. He launched his lobbying career straight from a Reagan White House job! Now he is running the McCain Campaign. How can we believe John McCain is against wasteful government spending after learning about his campaign manager?

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Clearly the politics of "shuck and jive" are of interest to foreign interests who know that a Barak Hussein Obama presidency is in their best interests.

With his radical ties here in the States, why would anyone question the influx of money from Gaza and heaven knows where else?

No, it's as clear as day and the politics of "shuck and jive" only carry with the liberal media. There is only ONE MAN who fought for us, and will fight for us, in this race. There is only ONE MAN who can preserve, protect, and defend our constitution. There is only ONE MAN with a moral compass and integrity...and that man is John McCain. I read comments every day from McCain supporters who blast away at those they disagree with, using epithets and lies, instead of simply making a better argument.

Now McCain's campaign decides to impugn small donors like me.

Understand something: I'm a former Republican. I left your party because your party can no longer advance a positive, coherent economic or foreign policy agenda.

No amount of threats or name-calling can fix that issue.

The more negative the McCain tactics are, the more firm the Obama support I'm hearing expressed from my family (Republican parents) and coworkers.

Wow, Karl Rove pulls the strings, McCain/Palin speak the words and all the people who are looking to acuse Obama of any thing from being a terrorist, to a communist to corrupt to anything that puts him in his place. All you folks out there who continue to drink the Koolaide, please keep this garbage to yourself. You are polluting the planet.

----------------------------------Why would America REWARD complete Republican failure ?

We wont.

Posted by: PulSamsara | October 5, 2008 9:10 PM

Its sad and unsettling. The Republicans have no issues so they will do or say anything to win even if it means fabricating evidence and lies. McCain V Rove is what is really going on here. An old man who has missed his time and will now sell his sold to the devil to win. His POW flashbacks are coming forward. This is a sad day for all Americans. Its scarry what we have become. The GOP claims country first but in reality its self first. Greed first. McCain first and Palin is too dumb to see how she is being used...or is she smart enough to be using this man to further her own ambitions. By the way...who's minding the children? What happen to the right wing stronghold on family values? A young baby needs its mother. Republicans,do you recall the attack on the young sister of Brittany Spears who became pregnant? The horrible things said about the mother? What happened to all that outrage? And what of the Witch hunter minister of Sarah? If that were Obama it would be all over the airwaves. Shame on you desparate McCain. Shame on you who could not even face Obama during the debate. You were lying and could not look him in the eye. You make me ashamed for all of us.

How did the T-shirts get to Gaza? Someone on the Obama team had to know where they were going! The argument that Ga was indented for Georgia is a copout! Do we really want the most liberal Senator followed by the second place running this country. The answer to everything is to raise taxes and have new programs. Quit stealing my money and deceiving the public just as you have with your campaign contributions.

Posted by: pvoosen | October 5, 2008 9:07 PM

McCain, out of ideas, with a woefully incapable running mate, resorts to filing lawsuits because he's mad that Obama can raise more money.

And William Ayers? That's the new strategy? William Ayers? That's all McCain has to fight with? The country is in real trouble because of McCain's Republican Party cult of deregulation which has led the country into ruin. And McCain's big answer is... be scared of William Ayers!

Posted by: ccc2 | October 5, 2008 9:05 PM

I've also donated several times and I'm from Ohio. This is just another example of McCain's commitment to campaigning on fears by smears. He's already shown us he can't handle the real issues, except to give us four more years of Bush policies, so there's nothing left but trash talk from the McCain campaign.

Posted by: windrider2 | October 5, 2008 8:45 PM

There is no way Obama is going to win this election. He is so tainted with ACORN voter fraud, his domestic terrorist friend Wm Ayers, fund raising scandals, HIs financial benefit from the mortgage meltdown. I don't think either Biden or Obama knows the first thing about charity unless it is coming out of my pocket. And how about the 14+ lies Biden told during the debate, his plagarism, and basic incompetence. People are going to walk in the voting booth and say no way is this duo good for my family or the USA.

Go Mccan Palin!

I think Obama should talk about Keating 5, tie it into the current economic crisis and the fact that Mccain divulged secrets the the enemy during war. Obama's camp should also find the video from the 2000 campaign when many Republican senators, including Phil Grahm departed a bus in South Carolina and suggested that Mccain has emotional issues and can't be trusted. They, of course, were supporting GWB.

Posted by: mikelupecool | October 5, 2008 8:35 PM

This is the final tactic of the McCain campaign: pathetic accusations of Obama's associations with irrelavant 1960's radicals, lame accusations of Obama being a Marxist, and the usual assertions of McCain's ridiculous "country first" pledge when his negative, lying campaign appeals only to the worst in us. Patriotism remains the final refuge of scoundrels like McCain. Don't get fooled again. Enough of this BS! Obama/Biden in 2008.

Posted by: maxfli68 | October 5, 2008 8:34 PM

Does McSame really want to get into a "smear" campaign with Obama? McBush's past is not exactly "clean." The man is a crook and got off clean from the Keating 5 Scandal. See link:

I just realized what this is...

McCain finally found his way on to the internet and is reading all the old Obama smears, instant new campaign strategy, lol.

Posted by: nowanna3 | October 5, 2008 8:29 PM

McCain and Palin have become aware that their message doesn't resonate with the American public, their policies are indistinguishable from George W. Bush's policies and they cannot articulate or define a way to improve the lives of ordinary middle class Americans.

The smears have only further alienated the American public as evidenced by McCain's further sliding in the polls.

Regardless of how many unsubstantiated attacks the RNC tried at the 11th hour, McCain and many other Republicans are going down in a landslide defeat in November. NOTHING will distract the American populace from the past 8 years of Republican lies, malfeasance, corruption and inept governance. No amount of unsubstantiated charges and pathetic juvenile name calling will change the fact that America wants a change from Republican greed and incompetence.

It's over bitter, angry, out of touch Pubbies. You had your chance for 8 years and you blew it. Don't let the door hit you in the @$$ on the way out.

Posted by: flyfishchef | October 5, 2008 8:27 PM

Mccain is going to the gutter. He and Steve Schmidt,Karl Rove's underling, decided to attempt to legitimize internet lies. There have been bunk internet rumors circulating for months that Obama receives money from foreign arabs. Consider Palin's rhetoric on Obama's views and ties to this country. She is trying to play off internet lies that state Obama is a muslim and was not born in America. Sure, Obama has ties to William Ayers. That doesn't mean he endorsed his past acts. Let's talk about some of Mccain's ties. Mccain's recent acts say more about his confidence or lack of, of Sarah Palin and his ability to deal with economic issues.

Posted by: mikelupecool | October 5, 2008 8:26 PM

There have never been more small donors to a campaign in the history of US elections. And the RNC can't make that go away...or match.

Posted by: amaikovich | October 5, 2008 8:23 PM

It is very hard for the RNC to believe that these donations are being made because they refuse to open their eyes to the reality of change.

Bo, I was paraphrasing, but I guess we're going to get into the tomato/tomatto thing, and what the meaning of the word "is" is. As far as I know, we still base our economic system on capitalism, at least until Obama gets in. As for kissing America goodbye, I was referring to kissing the ground. But I'm not surprised that a liberal would follow your train of thought.

This is OLD news. As a Hillary supporter, it was news that was buried. Thank God, people are looking closer at the money trail which links together the laundry list of red flags. The DNC silenced those who warned them.

This economic mess is also tied in. Yet, we have the BOTS blogging about Governor Palin. The diversion is NOT GOING TO WORK.

The Barack Obama campaign has raised millions of dollars in very questionable contributions. The Federal Elections Commission (FEC) won't say whether they're conducting an investigation, but they have asked the BHO campaign to explain or to return some of it.

That includes over $17,000 given in $25 increments by someone named "Good Will" and listing his employer as "Loving" and his occupation as "You". Someone using similar obviously false information donated even more, claiming to be from a different city.

It also includes millions of dollars from overseas. While past campaigns have placed stringent safeguards to ensure that all of that money was coming from U.S. citizens, the BHO campaign hasn't done the same:
The FEC breakdown of the Obama campaign has identified a staggering $222.7 million as coming from contributions of $200 or less [note: more than half of the total]. Only $39.6 million of that amount comes from donors the Obama campaign has identified...

...The FEC has compiled a separate database of potentially questionable overseas donations that contains more than 11,500 contributions totaling $33.8 million. More than 520 listed their “state” as “IR,” often an abbreviation for Iran. Another 63 listed it as “UK,” the United Kingdom...

...[about $200,000 might be legit, but] others came from places as far afield as Abu Dhabi, Addis Ababa, Beijing, Fallujah, Florence, Italy, and a wide selection of towns and cities in France.

Until recently, the Obama Web site allowed a contributor to select the country where he resided from the entire membership of the United Nations, including such friendly places as North Korea and the Islamic Republic of Iran...
Much more at the link.

Something that would be interesting to know is whether you can donate to the BHO campaign using a Visa/MC/Amex gift card. Those have legitimate credit card numbers, but some don't require any personal information and all can be bought with cash.

MC CAIN - PATHOLOGICAL LIAR..from his days in Vietnam on....extract of artuile on his capture ...

"The two men hauled McCain onto a raft and paddled toward the shore, shouting "haut les mains" at their bewildered captive. Lua had picked up the expression -- French for "hands up" -- from old war movies.

"I held the American firmly by the hair to prevent him from using his pistol," Lua recalled. "He was lucky because there was a police station nearby and we were able to take him there before anybody could hurt him."

McCain tells a somewhat different story in his memoir. He says a bystander smashed a rifle butt into his shoulder, breaking it, while someone else stuck a bayonet into his ankle and groin. "

War hero ?- what about all the poor grunts on the ground who did the hard yards - MC CAIN destroyed US planes and missed targets...as the Vietnam commander of the anti aircraft battery said...

""He probably killed a few fish," said retired Maj. Nguyen Lan, the commander of the surface-to-air missile battery that brought down McCain, telling his story in public for the first time. "The Americans never did destroy that power plant," he said laughing."....

How a McCain/Bush/Schmit/Rove campaign would Change a Light Bulb

How many members of McCain/Bush/Schmit/Rove campaign does it take to change a light bulb?

1. One to deny that a light bulb needs to be changed;

2. One to attack the patriotism of anyone who says the light bulb needs to be changed;

3. One to blame American Voters for burning out the light bulb;

4. One to arrange the invasion of a country rumored to have a secret stockpile of light bulbs;

5. One to give a One Trillion dollars to Wall Street for the new light bulb;

6. One to arrange a photograph of Bush, dressed as a janitor, standing on a step ladder under the banner: Light Bulb Change Accomplished;

7. One campaign insider to resign and write a book documenting in detail how McCain/Bush/Schmit/Rove were literally in the dark and out of touch with the American people

8. One to viciously smear #7;

9. Sarah Palin to campaign on TV and at rallies on how John McCain has had a strong light-bulb-changing policy all along;

10. And finally one to confuse Americans about the difference between screwing a light bulb and screwing the country.

Fanny, Freddie, and Obama
By The Prowler
Published 9/8/2008 12:08:38 AM
When President George W. Bush nominated Henry Paulson to serve as Treasury Secretary, Republicans raised a red flag that Paulson, who, along with his wife, has strong ties to the Democrat party, would not be an honest broker with Republicans.

That seems to have been borne out, with sources inside of Treasury reporting that Paulson briefed Sen. Barack Obama and his campaign advisers on the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bailout plan before offering such a briefing to the McCain campaign.

In fact, the McCain campaign had sought a similar briefing several days ago as word spread that a bailout plan was to be unveiled and had been turned down by Paulson's senior staff.

The next question is: Why was the Obama campaign so keen on getting advanced word about the bailout?

"They have a huge problem with the mortgage and housing market story, and everyone is missing it," says a Republican political media consultant with ties to the Obama campaign due to the bipartisan nature of the firm he does work with.

"You look at Obama's economic advisers, the guys he has counted on from day one and who have raised him a ton -- and I mean a ton -- of money: Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson, both of them are waist to neck deep in the mortgage debacle."

Both Raines and Johnson have served as CEO of Fannie Mae, with Raines taking over from Johnson. Both are key political and economic advisers to Obama.

"How can Obama go out with a straight face and saw it was Republicans who made this mess, when it is his key advisers who ran the agencies that made the big mess what it is?" says a Democrat House member who supported Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. "It's his people who are responsible for what may well be the single largest government bailout in history. And every single one of them made millions off the collapse that are lining Obama's campaign coffers. If the McCain campaign lets this one go, they deserve to lose."

It isn't just Fannie Mae where Obama has a problem. Another close political adviser, in fact the one man responsible for rallying support for Obama early on among Congressional Democrats, is Rep. Rahm Emanuel, who served on the Board of Directors for Freddie Mac after leaving the Clinton White House. According to Freddie Mac insiders, Emanuel during his time on the board opposed every reform proposed by the Bush Administration that would have impacted Freddie and Fannie Mae.

Emanuel claimed to be neutral in the primary race between the wife of his old boss and his longtime Chicago acquaintance, Obama. But the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, who would be first in line for the vacated Senate seat of Obama should he win the presidency, quickly dumped Clinton when it was clear Obama had a head of steam for the nomination.

"We ought to be able to -- rightly -- hang the Fannie and Freddie scandal around the neck of Obama, if they can get out in front," says a House Republican. "Middle-class folks' mortgages are probably safe, but the American taxpayer will also be paying for this scandal for years to come."

I think Hillary actually did Obama a service by trying all these same smears already. If the RNC can't come up with anything other than old recycled stuff from the primaries their game is about up.

So long Sarah we hardly knew ya!

Here comes the bile as McCain's campaign sees its last throes. But the McPalin glass house is going to take some hits before it gets off its last brickbat.

Lets just begin with ultra-American Sarah Palin's long confederacy with some charming folks up in Alaska. She and her husband have palled around with the Alaskan Independence Party for almost a decade. And this past year, the Governor herself addressed the party's convention. This was not, of course, not the first one she has graced.

The AIP are an interesting bunch. The founder of the AIP, Joe Vogler, had this to say about the glory of the United States: "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government."

He also said "And I won't be buried under their damn flag. I'll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home."

Vogler has also said: "I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions."

We can at least say his way with words did not rub off on Sarah.

Palin better update her index cards because this is going to be another gotcha question she might get clobbered with. She might have to bring Pops to help her out with the interviews again.

Came back home to find his wife disabled and couldn't handle that. Left his wife and kids. Couldn't handle the pressure as Senator and got caught up in Keating 5 fiasco. Runs for President and polls show a slight down turn and he resorts to mudslinging and desperation with still a month to go.

ajackson,

In your Metro train scenario did you finalize it with announcing your campaign for state senator on the doorstep of the demostic terrorist? Of course you did not, that would show how closely Obama associated with the terrorist.

Why do you not discuss the philosophy of Black Liberation Theology that was preached in Rev. Wright's Church as it was discussed by Cone. (Cone was Rev. Wright's Mentor... just as Rev. Wright was Obama's mentor). Black Liberation Theology stems directly from the doctrine of Liberation Theology which was the foundation of the Cuban political system. In short, Obama's beliefs were created in the shadow of Fidel Castro.

Hillary Clinton on Wednesday, April 16th, 2008 in Democratic debate in Philadephia
Obama served on board with Ayers

A little-known relationship in Sen. Barack Obama’s past — one that had been buzzing in mostly conservative circles for months — took a very public turn Wednesday night during a Democratic debate in Philadelphia.

It relates to Obama’s relationship with William C. Ayers, a onetime member of the Weather Underground, a leftist fringe of the 1960s antiwar movement. Known as the Weathermen, the group was responsible for bombings of the New York City police headquarters in 1970, of the Capitol building in 1971 and of the Pentagon in 1972.

During the debate, moderator George Stephanopoulos asked Obama about his relationship with Ayers, as part of a discussion about Obama’s patriotism.

“An early organizing meeting for your state Senate campaign was held at his house and your campaign has said you are ‘friendly,’ ” Stephanopoulos said.

Stephanopoulos quoted a New York Times story, published Sept. 11, 2001, in which Ayers was quoted as saying: “I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough.”

Asked Stephanopoulos: “Can you explain that relationship for the voters and explain to Democrats why it won’t be a problem?”

Obama downplayed the relationship.

“This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who’s a professor of English in Chicago who I know and who I have not received some official endorsement from,” Obama said. “He’s not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis.

“And the notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8 years old, somehow reflects on me and my values doesn’t make much sense, George.”

Sen. Hillary Clinton then piled on.

“I also believe that Senator Obama served on a board with Mr. Ayers for a period of time, the Woods Foundation, which was a paid directorship position. And, if I’m not mistaken, that relationship with Mr. Ayers on this board continued after 9/11 and after his reported comments, which were deeply hurtful to people in New York and, I would hope, to every American, because they were published on 9/11, and he said that he was just sorry they hadn’t done more.”

We need to point out that it was merely a coincidence the remarks were published in the New York Times on Sept. 11 and they had nothing to do with the terrorist attacks that day. They were referring to activities by the Weather Underground in the 1970s.

Deborah Harrington, president of the Woods Fund, a philanthropic organization in Chicago, said Obama was a director from 1994 through 2001. That overlaps Ayers’ time as a director by three years. It also means Obama served with Ayers for the final months of 2001, after Ayers made his comments to the New York Times.

Ayers, now a professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago (not English as Obama stated), is still on the seven-member Woods Fund board.

In 2001, Ayers wrote a book, ''Fugitive Days'' — he called it a memoir — in which he wrote that he participated in the bombings of New York City police headquarters, the Capitol building and the Pentagon. But in a review of the book, the New York Times noted that Ayers coyly noted that some of the book was fiction.

Last week, Ayers defended the September 2001 comments on his blog stating: “I’m sometimes asked if I regret anything I did to oppose the war in Vietnam and I say: No, I don’t regret anything I did to stop the slaughter of millions of human beings by my own government.”

Obama has minimized his relationship with Ayers. Campaign finance reports show Ayers donated $200 to Obama’s re-election campaign in 2001.

In the spirit of fairness, we should note that just before leaving office, President Bill Clinton pardoned Susan L. Rosenberg who, according to a New York Times story in 2001, was "a onetime member of the Weather Underground terrorist group who was charged in the notorious 1981 Brink’s robbery in Rockland County that left a guard and two police officers dead."

But as for Clinton’s comments about Obama’s relationship with Ayers, we rate them True.

TO SALAMO:

You should read: http://www.eastandard.net/InsidePage.php?&id=1143972118&catid=4&a=1.

This is how The Standard of Nairobi described Odinga's connections to Muammar Gaddafi in its July 29, 2007 edition:

"While still Energy minister, Raila re-established and nurtured his links with the Libyan Government of Col Muammar Gaddafi, where again he not only did good business in oil importation, but also got substantial material support during the 2002 General Election.

"Besides supporting Raila’s political cause, the Libyans also played a key role in stabilising Raila in the oil business. Reliable sources say that Libyans bankrolled the Narc campaign with some $3 million (about Sh210 million), thanks to Raila’s good contacts in the oil-rich land of Gaddafi.

"
There is no doubt, therefore, that if Raila becomes the ODM-Kenya presidential candidate, he can once more count on massive financial support from the North African country."

The standard report aslo revealed: "In June, Raila flew to the US, where he held talks with Senator Barack Obama, one of the candidates seeking the Democratic Party ticket to vie for the American presidency. " Clearly, Obama's past associations should give any fair minded American pause as to Barack Obama's personal integrity.
Read and listen to Raila Odinga reveal in January 2008 that Obama is Odinga's first cousin, a fact Obama CONCEALED in August when he used American government funds to openly campaign for Odinga's presidential bid. Go to: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7176683.stm Your behaviour is typical of the uninformed American masses, rather like stubborn George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Why was Odinga travelling to Chicago? You can bet it was to plan Obama's role as agent provocateur for Odinga and Gaddafi, both of whom want to overthrow the only two Christian governments in East Africa and control the Kildini Harbour deep water port that is the outlet for Africa's land locked interior.

East Africa (Kenya, Somalia, the Ogaden sector of Ethiopia and Tanzania), like Pakistan has become a breeding ground for radical Islam. Barack Obama's affinity for, association with, and self professed knowledge of Islam, gives one great pause because of his categorical denial of his Islamic past without specific repudiation of the scores of sources that undermine, if not totally belie, his assertion that he never practiced Islam. Is Obama to be believed, particularly given his ambitions to seek the Democratic nomination from 2006 onward? Why has the Obama campaign changed its story between Obama not being a "practicing" Muslim in its March 14, 2007 statement to Paul Watson from its January 24,2007 statement issued by Obama campaign spokesperson Robert Gibbs that: "To be clear, Senator Obama has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian who attends the United Church of Christ in Chicago," to change once again following Paul Watson's investigative report of March 16, 2007. Again, like the Obama denials of knowledge of the hate based, racist and Marxist ideology, which has been mischaracterized as Black Liberation Theology spewed by his Pastor Wright, Obama's various accounts of Obama's Muslim heritage, both written in Dreams of My Father and given by his campaign spokesperson, are a web of contradictions.

In the words of Sir Walter Scott "O, what a tangled web we weave When first we practise to deceive." Marmion, 1808.

Can the United States of America sober up from its Obama intoxication to question Obama's categorical claim that he NEVER practiced Islam? What has happened to the healthy skepticism once the hallmark of American journalism? Like the Pastor Wright issue, this matter of Obama's claim to never practicing Islam has not been properly aired by the press, save Paul Watson and The Los Angeles Times.

FINALLY! This is not a new story. Finally, the MSM is starting to pay attention to the flaws and corruption in the ONE! The over-the-top rooting for O by the MSM is scary and un-American. If any of you O supporters will stop and be honest with yourself for an hour or so, you'll read some sites which don't just support your beliefs, just as we are forced to do every single day on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, and every major newspaper in the country. Read the sites you don't agree with. Then you can decide the truth. There are a lot of honest, fair-minded people writing on this at places like National Review Online, The Washington Times, The Weekly Standard, and the Wall Street Journal. Educate yourself!

Barack Obama is jaw-droppingly stupid, and nothing but a puppet of the left. He is an "in-your-face" leftist who will promise anything to get elected to the presidency, even if those things promised are counter to our constitution. Grab your bonnets, folks, if he gets elected. He will "change" your lives beyond recognition.

McCain will do anything to distract the voters from the real issues. McCain doesn't the US public to know about Palin's Troopergate scandal or McCain's own bad involvement in Keating-5. McCain is going to smear Senator Obama in any way he can - and that's not the kind of president I want in the White House. McCain and Palin are way to negative and conniving to be good leaders. We need better people in the White House. But I think the US people will realize this - as the campaigns will begin to expose McCain's involvement in the Keating-5 and Palin's ridiculous abuse of power in Troopergate. Imagine having a friendly relationship with an unrepentant Weather Underground Terrorist, William C. Ayers who bombed the Pentagon, US Capitol, and the New York City Police headquarters - and wishes he had done more!

According to Washington Post, both Obama and Ayers were members of the board of an anti-poverty group, the Woods Fund of Chicago between 1999 and 2002. In addition, Ayers contributed $200 to Obama's re-election fund to the Illinois State Senate in April 2001, as reported here. They lived within a few blocks of each other in the trendy Hyde Park section of Chicago, and moved in the same liberal-progressive circles. Read about Obama's close involvement with the Pentagon, US Capitol, and NY Police HQ terrorist, William C. Ayers.

So the McCain campaign wants to REALLY sling the mud huh? Did the McCain campaign use all those donated funds before he accepted federal funds, tax payers money, to fund his general election bid? Why don't the election commission investigate that too while they are investigating these trump up charges.

For the moron who wants to link Senator Obama to Mr. Ayers. Lets see, Senator Obama was 8 years old when this man, this white American, decided to carry out TREASON against the United States. Now he was on a board that Senator Obama was on and he held a small fundraiser for Senator Obama's campaign, they are best buddies and share the same idealology. That's like saying because I sat on the metro everyday next to a convicted felon, we have the same views. What a stretch and how pitiful that you have to stoop to this to win an election. The real hypocrisy is, this man, Ayers, is living a good life in the suburbs of Chicago after carrying out an act of TREASON against the U.S. I dare say if he was a minority, specifically a black American, he would not have had such a prosperous career. Give a rest or be fair and discuss Senator McCain's relationship with Charles Keating which to me is more damning because it speaks to his support of deregulation which helped lead to this financial bailout.

At a time when the US is on the brink of a depression, Americans are losing jobs, the economy is crumbling, and we are in two failing wars, the McCain campaign is doing what it can to distract voters.

I live in Texas and I am hearing from Republicans that they are not going to vote for McCain. The reason: the economy and they blame Bush and McCain (for helping Bush win in 2004).

McCain doesnt realize how angry Americans are right now--trying to change the subject does not change what is happening in their lives. It only makes him appear tone deaf--as Palin did when Biden (during the debate) told of the loss of his daughter and wife.

This only helps Obama, but it hurts the country as a whole. To make matters worse, McCain's brother is in Virginia telling voters that Northern Virginians are Communist. McCain and Palin are very devisive--something this country does not need now.

KEVIN25, your story seems pretty absurd.

First Dick Cheney was a cousin of Obama, now this Odinga guy supposedly is (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7176683.stm). And, of course, as good cousin he launders Gadafis money for Obama... Yeah, right....

The links you post support the connection you draw between Obama, Odinga and Gadaffi in no way. I have the feeling you are inventing wild stories here in the hope that some of the mud you sling will stick.

Sad thing that political campaigns so often end in mudslinging.

"'From those according to their abilities, to those according to their needs.'

-it's actually "from EACH...to EACH..." Now, I understand why you wanted to tweak it - the way you have it now, it sounde like "those" who are giving are not the same as "those" who are receiving. While I will grant you that Soviet bloc (and Chinese, Cuban, etc.) totalitarian rule was justified in the name of Marx' philosophy, in reality there has NEVER BEEN a "Communist" government in the world. It it a utopian philosophy, and hence incompatible with human nature. There HAVE been several countries which have adopted Socialist principles to greater and lesser degrees, and with greater and lesser degrees, correspondingly, of success (cf. Laos (bad) vs. Sweden (good)) but Marx and his philosophy are innocent of the police state tactics sometimes used in their name. (The same can be said of the degree of guilt borne by Milton Friedman for the pain caused by profit-driven downsizing or outsourcing. Maybe.)

Sound familiar? Certainly not capitalism.

- No, it is not. You're very observant! 'Capitalism' is characterized by indifference to civil rights and public need when the expenditure of money is necessary.

In other words "what's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine".

-If you are framing the first line of the Manifesto as crudely as possible, your definition still leaves out two things - "what's yours is mine and what's mine is mine." What about the concept of 'common ownership' don't you understand?

Bend over and kiss America goodbye.

-You should keep your homeland someplace that's a little more convenient, not to mention a bit more respectful. I'm just sayin'...

AMERICA IS IN DANGER!

OBAMA’S POLITICAL CAREER STARTED WITH HIS AFFILIATION WITH WILLIAM AYERS AND BERNARDINE DOHRN, THE UNREPENTANT TERRORISTS ... part of “The Weathermen” terrorist group which launched a campaign to bomb" the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol. In the 90’s, both “Community Organizers” Ayers and Obama worked together for years, radicalizing the Chicago school system.

At a 1969 "War Council" in Flint, Michigan, Weatherman leaders Ayer and Bernardine Dohrn proclaimed that the time had come to launch a war against "Amerikkka". The Weather Underground went on to claim credit for some 25 bombings over the next several years, detonating explosives at the rebuilt Haymarket statue, a bathroom at the Pentagon, the Capitol barber shop, the New York City police headquarters, and a variety of other targets.

BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA’S CLOSE ASSOCIATION WITH RADICAL EXTREMISTS PUTS AMERICA IN DANGER of being taken over by a group of radical terrorists that would “change” America as Obama has promised;…but the change would be to fulfill the dreams of the Weathermen of overthrowing capitalism and launching a race war against the “white” United States.

AMERICANS OF ALL PARTIES MUST COME TOGETHER AND DEFEND OUR COUNTRY against dangerous terrorists and vote for a True American Patriot, John McCain!

AMERICA FIRST!
JOHN MCCAIN AND SARAH PALIN

The FEC has compiled a separate database of potentially questionable overseas donations that contains more than 11,500 contributions totaling $33.8 million. More than 520 listed their “state” as “IR,” often an abbreviation for Iran. Another 63 listed it as “UK,” the United Kingdom.

More than 1,400 of the overseas entries clearly were U.S. diplomats or military personnel, who gave an APO address overseas. Their total contributions came to just $201,680.

But others came from places as far afield as Abu Dhabi, Addis Ababa, Beijing, Fallujah, Florence, Italy, and a wide selection of towns and cities in France.

Until recently, the Obama Web site allowed a contributor to select the country where he resided from the entire membership of the United Nations, including such friendly places as North Korea and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Unlike McCain’s or Sen. Hillary Clinton’s online donation pages, the Obama site did not ask for proof of citizenship until just recently. Clinton’s presidential campaign required U.S. citizens living abroad to actually fax a copy of their passport before a donation would be accepted.

Last month, 159,000 Americans jobs were lost. It's no surprise that the top priority for a majority of voters is the economy.

But the McCain campaign doesn't share those concerns, admitting yesterday that "There's no question we want to change the subject here," and that they're "looking forward to turning the page on the financial crisis."

McCain has laid his cards on the table. And to everyone tired of the politics of past, this latest announcement is as disheartening as it is disturbing.

Obama is a big danger to the US. He cannot be trusted with his association with the criminal element, terrorists and radical black militants like Reverend Wright and Farakan. Obama is a fake and a fraud and hates white people just the way Reverand Wright does. It is impossible for Obama to be a member of Reverand Wright's church for over 20 years and to be a personal friend of his and then to say that he has no clue that Reverand Wright is a militant black radical racist and hates whites.

Obama has not accomplished one damn thing as he is an empty suit. The only thing I can think of is that he was a member of ACORN that forced banks to make loans to minorities without any credit and required no down payments. Obama was directly behind this funding. Also, he was responsible for trying to sneak in a $20 billion grant to ACORN as part of the bail out package. Thankfully it was stripped out by some brave Republicans. So, the end result is that the recent financial crisis that Americans have now had to pay for is directly due to Obama and the Democratic leadership due to their irresponsibility. Other than that, some one please name one accomplishment of Obama. No one can name one positive thing.

Obama is a total joke. I just do not understand how Democrats can be so shallow to vote for such a corrupt individual with ties to criminal, terrorists and black militants. Wake up Democrats – Obama will destroy our country.

When people like Barney Fruit's boyfriend walks away from Fannie Mae with $90 million dollars over a 6 year period, I think the options are limited. Who pushed all of those sub-prime mortgages to folks who couldn't afford them? Can you say Bill Clinton? As for the pork, look at who it was directed to.

This is not the first time this election year that Obama has received illegal monies. He is already tied to illegal activities and crooks/terrorists. TRhe liberal MSM will overlook this just like everything else. The sad thing is, voter fraud by Obama's thugs is taking place in Ohio and any other state allowing early voting. This is the time for McCain/Palin to step up the heat on Obama and his fraudulent campaign.

I guess the RNC forgot that McCain has campaigned over overseas before Obama did. Yes thanks to the BBC who showed one of many campaign fund raisers McCain did in England. I really can't blame McCain with so many Obama supporters overseas who are Americans, next they will investigate the Military soldiers/families giving to Obama. Even Bush's daughter is supporting Obama. McCain knows it's finished and Palin is doing what she does best lie and flirt. At lease Palin has the male Journalist talking her up just in case they get a date.

While the US is fighting to stay a float with the Economy, the Middle East Leaders are meeting with each other and the Taliban to bring peace. Didn't Hillary and Obama say that was needed years ago. I guess the Republicans and the White House have gotten enough of the US taxpayers money in their pockets.

I warned about this during Hillary's primary campaign. If the feds are monitoring this board they should look into money coming from Kenya to Obama. Obama's first cousin Raila Odinga, the thug that caused anarchy in Kenya after he lost the Kenyan Presidential electon in December is funded by Muammar Gaddafi, who wants to undermine the Kenyan government. Gaddafi's company recently bought the regency Hotel in Nairobi from Kenya in an apparent bribe of Kenyan government officials. Today the Standard reported that Kenyan Muslims want Ethopia to release Muslim terrorists to Kenya. Read: http://www.eastandard.net/InsidePage.php?id=1143996384&cid=4&

Odinga is a conduit for Gaddafi's money which is laundered in the under $200 small campaign contributions catagory. Gaddifi sends the money to Odinga who reimburses Kenyan donors giving $20-$25 a pop. Read how Gaddafi bankrolled Odinga's presidential campaigns at: http://www.eastandard.net/InsidePage.php?&id=1143972118&catid=4&a=1 . Odinga travelled to Chicago for meetings with Barack Obama, Pastor Jeremiah Wright ahd agents of Louis Farrakhan in the Suummer of 2006 and June 2007 to exploit this loophole. Why anyone is suprised is beyond me. The folks in the Eastliegh sector of Nairobi have been openly talking about this crime against demoracy since the Spring. The informed in Nairobi know that Gaddafi is funding Obama. Moreover, the Gaddafi and Kenyan connection is just the tip of the iceburg. This is Chicago Machine Politics and African politics at its worst. Let's see how much money was received from Mombassa, Kenya. Mombassa is the port tht the 33 Russian T-72 tanks aboard the highjacked freighter were bound for. Wake up all you foolish Yanks who know very little of the world events outside American pop culture.

What else can McCain say. He doesn't have a leg to stand on with this economic policy, and he's just signed a $850B bailout for wall street and the credit markets which include a positively STUPENDOUS amount of pork. Whether you agree with the bailout or not, the pork shouldn't have heen included. If McCain feels so strongly about pork, why isn't he making those people "famous"?

While Barack Obama has co-sponsored legislation to create "Patriot Employers" incentives to increase or maintain American jobs at home, John McCain has advocated a 25% corporate tax cut, and has chosen to continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with his friends who favor the corporate loopholes.

Typical October sniffing for scandal. However, it is wise to verify donations from such sources as the sovereign wealth fund of Venezuela. Okay people, do the math here. $200 Million raised in donations of $200 or less. That means a *minimum* of 1,000,000 individual donations!

Out of all those, there are a "handful" of donors who didn't fill out the forms correctly.

Yes, improper donations should be returned, but we all know they are not really interested in accounting perfectionism. They want to try to morph this into another rediculous accusation.

There's going to be a lot of bull-sh*t flying in the next few weeks. Let's try to be a bit realistic/skeptical about the crazy claims being made.

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/05/mccain-brother-calls-northern-virginia-communist-country/

Apparently we're all communists! If I needed anything else to sway my vote, this is it! Go to hell McCain campaign, we're true Americans living by the Nation's capital and helping to run this country. If you don't like us because we're independent minded, then don't count on any of our votes!

Miller123: Go ahead, send the donation in Biden's mother's name. Their ticket has lots of dead people donating to and voting for them.

Posted by: stonebridgejjk | October 5, 2008 6:41 PM

"HailDemskins": if you're going to vote for the first time, do a little research. Find out why McCain voted against certain bills that contained equal pay for equal word addages. They also contained "sneak-ins" from Democrats pushing more welfare programs. Also, check McCain's campaign workers. They DO get equal pay for equal work. Check Obama's, apparently he loves the talk, but not the walk. Female workers in his campaign get lower wages. Check behind the pretty language for the ugly truth.

The anti-Obama wingnuts come armed on the blogs with nothing but stupidity and ignorance, facts and reality be damned. So for this lot, here are the facts. Obama did not LOSE his law license. One doesn't lose one's law license unless the State Bar takes action and revokes it. Obama let his law license in IL lapse, as many lawyers who are not practicing are prone to do. All one has to do is not pay the annual dues to the State Bar and/or refuse to take the continuing legal education (CLE) requirements. For someone who is (a) very busy; and (b) not practicing the law, taking days off to meet one's CLE requirements are a chore. Thus, many people who no longer practice the law let their bar license expire. And this is what he did. If one wished to practice again, one can reapply in a variety of ways depending on how long one has let one's bar license lapse. If you people know nothing about the law, the Bar exam, or anything other than what racists, morons and right wing gasbags on the internet spew, I suggest you at least take the effort to learn before you make a spectacle of your ignorance. To that effect, at least some of you have the wisdom of not identifying yourselves, a trait that comes with cowardice.

Obama: Old-style Chicago graft politics:

A $100,000 state grant for a botanic garden in Englewood that then-state Sen. Barack Obama awarded in 2001 to a group headed by a onetime campaign volunteer is now under investigation by the Illinois attorney general amid new questions, prompted by Chicago Sun-Times reports, about whether the money might have been misspent.

The garden was never built. And now state records obtained by the Sun-Times show $65,000 of the grant money went to the wife of Kenny B. Smith, the Obama 2000 congressional campaign volunteer who heads the Chicago Better Housing Association, which was in charge of the project for the blighted South Side neighborhood.

Obama is NOT change. He is just another sleazy politician lining the pockets of his friend with taxpayer dollars.

This is working out quite well...

Every time the GOP in general, or the McCain/Palin camp specifically, insults the intelligence of Americans, Obama/Biden gain another point or two.

Keep it up, you aren't behind Goldwater yet.

Posted by: OldUncleTom | October 5, 2008 6:29 PM

If this nitwit criminal Obama cares so much for our economy why does he want to send another $920 BILLION to the UN with his Jubilee and Global Poverty legislation?

Why does he block drilling for oil?

He is so easy to see through... and you people are such ignorant sheep to fall for this puppet.

Look at the man behind the curtain... Obama is their useful idiot.

I love the post from the ex-military guy (43 years old) who says he has never registered to vote. He claims to agree with Republican ideas, yet will vote for Barack Obama this year. What about Barack Obama speaks to Republican values? What about Obama is conservative? Seems we have another Obama surrogate posting on this site for the "great leader". No Republican would vote for someone as far to the left as Obama. I could see if Obama had a history of moderation, but he doesn't. I could see if he had a history of working across the aisle, but he doesn't (he votes the Democrat Party line 96% of the time). He is endorsed by far left organizations such as MoveOn.org and Daily Kos and terrorist groups such as Hamas. This guy is socialist through and through and in no way would appeal to a true conservative.

No complaining if Obama is elected, for he will raise your income, SS, and any other tax he wants to. You may lose your job because his taxes on businesses will force some to let workers go. You can count on 35% of your income going to the UN hustlers and despot rulers around the world to "feed the hungry." Of course, that's in case we are not bombed by terrorists, which will happen on Obama's watch.
The mainstream media is in the tank for Obama, and none of you realize it - how very, very sad!

Posted by: patty42 | October 5, 2008 6:26 PM

This just sounds like the beginning of the RNC's "kitchen sink" move, throw as much crap as possible and hope something sticks.

McCain/Palin need to remember just how well that worked against Obama when Hillary tried it.

Posted by: martymar123 | October 5, 2008 6:24 PM

Barack Obama tells us incessantly that most Americans cannot afford to put food on their tables and gas in their cars. He tells us that this is the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Yet this millionaire keeps running to the so called "struggling middle class" and begging for more donations. For those who are "struggling" and still find the money to send to this schmuck, I don't feel sorry for your situation. If you chose to send money to Obama rather than use it to put food on your table, perhaps that type of bad decision making is why you are in the situation you are. Follow the money trail from the unusually silent George Soros.

Posted by: savvyj2 | October 5, 2008 6:24 PM

Posted by: kathleen_oconnor | October 5, 2008 6:23 PM

Oh lord, does this cyber troll Aspergirl hang out on every blog spewing nonsense from the uber rightwing blogosphere? There's no evidence that Obama's IL bar application was fraudulently obtained (these accusations have been floating around since January 2007 and have been repeatedly dismissed by the IL Bar), no evidence that Michelle Obama "failed" the IL bar exam (once again this is a smear trotted out by unabashed open racist Steve Sailer who believes that all African Americans are dumb), and no evidence that the Obama campaign has been raking in donations from terrorists big and small. Maybe Mr. McCain ought to look at his own shady connections to con men from Montenegro, lobbyists from Georgia, not to mention the Keating thugs.

The RNC realizes they're losing so they're getting desperate. They know that the FEC does not have the time to investigate this by election day. They also know nothing will be found. They're really doing this to scare people in believing that Obama is getting illegal support from outside of the US. Like I'm really scared. What a bunch of losers.

Well, I'm 43 years old, and never registered to vote, mainly because I just didn't think my vote counted. I'm a proud member of the Armed Forces, and have always just saluted whoever was Commander in Chief. However, this is the first time I felt the need to get out and vote. I registered to vote, and thanks to this article, will be sending what little I may have to support Senator Obama's campaign. Thanks to the RNC I'm solidly convinced that the republicans, whom I normally agree with, are totally out of touch, and have resorted to childish smear tactics to avoid the real issue: soldiers, airmen, marines, and sailors dying while our Commander in Chief plays golf; A war hero who doesn't believe women should receive equal pay for equal work (so should I not get the same pay as my male counterparts in the military? I graduated top of my NCO academy classes, always excelled in my job-I have numerous accolades to prove it), and who also really believes we fell for the "country before campaign" scam, which was simply a tactic to delay Gov. Palin's debate (she was NOT prepared). People, please vote. Vote for whomever you choose, but please vote. Now, more than ever, I realize that an extreme rise in the number of registered voters is the ONLY thing that has caught the attention of the RNC, who always try to look pro-military, but really are not.

Gotta' go and mail that check to the Obama campaign now.

Posted by: ian807 | October 5, 2008 5:52 PM

There are a lot of sleazy and questionable things associated with Barack Obama and his campaign. This is not an honest man. For example, he's no longer a lawyer because he surrendered his license to practice law after falsehoods on his application came to light.

from http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-104473

Obama has no Law License

Obama relinquished his Illinois law license in early 2007. Why would Obama give up something that provided his primary source of income and something he spent so much time and energy obtaining? Andy Martin filed a complaint in IL on March 13, 2007 stating that Obama had lied
on his IL bar application. Obama had 17 outstanding traffic violations that he had failed to take care of. Mr. Martin discovered that Obama would not be prosecuted because he no longer had his law license.

I contacted Andy Martin and this was his response:
"Nothing. Obama had already resigned as a lawyer and so they had no jurisdiction over him."

..."They can't punish someone who has resigned, which is why so many corrupt lawyers in Illinois resign before they are disbarred."

::::::::::

It should be noted that since Obama started running for president, it has come to light that Obama lied on applications when it came to prior use of names and aliases and other personal information.

Obama had to surrender his license to practice law or he would have been disbarred.

Thank goodness - only a month of this petty madness left! This is not a popularity contest, nor is it a beauty contest.

As a voter, I DEMAND to hear, see and read an intelligent discussion of the ISSUES.

Senator McCain, although I am a registered Virginia Republican, you lost my vote a long time ago. Does the end really justify the means that you are employing? At the end of this process you will lose on November 4th.

On November 5th will you and your supporters be able to look into a mirror and truly believe that your dignity and honor remain above reproach?

They are already getting the money they invested in him back with Hussein's push to have 1 trillion give away for free, at our expense, with a demand that not a penny be used to protect the homeowners.

You just lost $20.00.

I'm one of those small donors. Sent $50 to the Obama campaign last July. I have never donated to a political campaign before, and I wish I could have afforded to send more. See, that's what the McCain camp just doesn't get. Obama appeals to folks who maybe could only send $50, but I was so proud to be able to send the amount that I could. Add up all the people like me, and I guess it comes to over $200 million dollars of small contributors. Something that John McCain couldn't pull off in his wildest dreams and it just bewilders his campaign staff.

Posted by: jerzygrl | October 5, 2008 5:38 PM

The McCain campaign is so desperate, now they're making things ups to smear Senator Obama. I can't stand the GOP anymore. They used to be respectable and good people, but their brand has gone belly up, and now they're just using fear-tactics and dirty tricks. It's so disturbing to see a once respectable organization like the Gop - now become the dirty campaign of fear-and-smear. I pray to God that they wise up and realize their mistake.

It's time to kick the tires and light the fires, y'all! McPalin, tell Daddy how you want this . . . you can have this defeat easy or rough. Sounds like you took Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" approach: rough. Okay, Daddy will give it to you rough . . . just remember, Big Daddy asked you.

This is an indication of Newsweek's level of focus.....there are a "handful" of instances documented....for those instances, the donations have been returned....yawn......

Posted by: guitar_blue | October 5, 2008 5:16 PM

I know plenty of people who don't have a lot of money to spare who donated small amounts to Obama. Very refreshing that it's not just the big donors controlling electoral politics.

Posted by: trace1 | October 5, 2008 5:16 PM

I just sent the Obama campaign a donation. I am sick and tired of the way the Republican party smears, distorts, and distracts. I am sick of how my retirement funds have lost thousands of dollars in value under the Republican watch. It is time for a change; a time to vote the Republican party out of office.

Posted by: WAT1 | October 5, 2008 5:05 PM

This is prompted more by jealousy that the Democrats are raising a lot of money from real people who love their country and are scared that 4 more years of Republican mis-rule will damage us irreparably.

But - if the RNC and the McPalin camp want to play their boring predictable game of Swiftboating, why doesn’t the MSM investigate McCain’s questionable ties to Putin's oligarch Oleg Deripaska? Or ask why he [McCain] chose to celebrate his 70 birthday back in 2006 at a party off the coast of Montenegro hosted by convicted Italian felon Raffaello Follieri? Then there’s the gambling? (Did he declare all of his winnings on his taxes?)

People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones and McCain/Palin live in glass houses.

Posted by: laSerenissima2003 | October 5, 2008 5:04 PM

This is sheer desperation on the RNC's part. They and McJerk are really falling apart now! This thing is going to turn into a landslide!

Posted by: OriginalMagicDog | October 5, 2008 5:03 PM

Go Obama! I hope this RNC ReTHUGlican smear will result in another $33.8 million in questionable foreign donations to Obama's campaign, as identified by the FEC:

http://www.newsmax.com/timmerman/Obama_fundraising_illegal/2008/09/29/135718.html

Why should Obama have just $33.8 million in questionable foreign donations, when he could have $100 million tomorrow if enough people in Iran got out their checkbooks.

P.S. I can't believe I saw someone trying the rape kit smear below, since that's been debunked about a hundred times already:

Republicans objecting to millions of NEW people participating in (lowercase d) democratic process by putting their money where their mouth is?

What a winning strategy: Suppress the vote, suppress small contributions from first time donors, millions of "little guys" like me who are inspired by Obama.

So Republicans say: "BY GOD, WE THE PEOPLE must put a stop to it! Selling a few T-shirts to fans overseas?? BY ALL MEANS, THIS IS SERIOUS! CALL FOR AN INVESTIGATION! Let's have some "maverick" campaign finance reform so that only the rich can have influence on political campaigns....

Attention all obama supporters donate today. If you live in a red state encourage republicans to vote for bob barr. Lets kick a$$ and take names.

Posted by: r4147824 | October 5, 2008 4:38 PM

This would be what's known in the vernacular as a "fishing expedition".

On another note, much as it pains me to raise a conservative point in favor of a liberal candidate, it's not at all clear to me why the government should play any role at all in policing campaign contributions.

Republicans: They won't regulate Wall Street, and they badmouth courts which "make law", but they sure do like to regulate how you can spend your money come election time, and to involve courts in the settlement of elections.

Posted by: officermancuso | October 5, 2008 4:38 PM

Reminds me of the incident where Obama cited an unnamed Army captain in Afghanistan who said his unit relied in part on captured weapons, technically a violation of normal rules of war. The Republicans assumed it was a made-up story and that Obama didn't know enough to make it up accurately, thus the rules violation. They demanded information immediately so the poor Army guy (who they assumed was fictional) could be investigated and have his career ruined. Obama's team provided the information on background to a reporter trusted by both sides in less than 24 hours. They had done their homework and they had the facts cold. The "issue" immediately ended.

I'm confident it will turn out much the same here. This is a truly well-organized campaign that does its homework. It also sounds like the FEC has been doing its job, flagging any remaining questionable items as well.

As a small donor and Obama supporter, I have met dozens if not hundreds of other volunteers in northern Virginia. We all give small donations. We're all donating repeatedly this year in a way we've never done before. The overwhelming scale of donations reflects reality on the ground -- American voters, supporters, and volunteers doing everything they can to support this campaign.

I also have been saving up for this final push and gave by far my biggest small donation yet on September 30 (wanting it to count toward the September total). If others are thinking that way the September and October numbers should be very good.

Obama was a part of no machine. The machine is Daley who did not endorse Obama.

Here again the issue is not you and who is interested in policies that will put this country on the right course. McCain has given up on trying to convince you that he is better for America, He has lost that battle. So now he attacks Obama for being from Chicago.

McCain was changing his mind last week sometimes twice within one day. He was indecisive and ineffective and not the kind of leader that he said his military training had made him.

Posted by: Wiel | October 5, 2008 2:27 PM

Is this the basis on which you want to make your choice. This is a distraction. John McCain is beneficiary of Wall Street money and worse than that Wall Street insiders are part of his campaign leadership.

But if Wiel can convince you to not think about the economy and who has a plan to benefit you. He does not want you thinking of McCain who extend the plan that has failed. McCain will deprive you of money that you would get with the Obama plan and give to Exxon-Mobil.

Wiel does not want you thinking about health care insurance either because he is on the loosing end of that argument. All he wants to do is smear whether true or not. And like the hypocrite he is ignore that McCain is more beholden to business than Obama.

Posted by: Gator-ron | October 5, 2008 3:57 PM

The RNC just doesnt like that the little guy is giving in droves to Obama. Every time they do something like this it makes me want to give even more money. I hope the GOP drowns in an ocean of contributions to Obama.

Posted by: willandjansdad1 | October 5, 2008 3:52 PM

The Republicans are so desperate to win this election. The country doesn't want you. Were tired of your leadership, its starting to turn into hate. I hope all of the republicans and their fight for the rich and we'll connected lose their senate and congress seats. Its the republicans responsible for this deregulation that has lead us to the biggest federal bailout in history. This crisis happened under George W. Bush's watch and John Mccain was his main chairleader. The republicans deserve to loose their seats because Americans have suffered too much these past 8 years and the Democrats had to clean up after them. Any Democrats that share the same philosopy as the republicans need to loose their seats as we'll. Sen. Obama will be president and Joe Biden is going to be Vice president and thats that. We can't take a chance on a 72 year old " Deregulator", that had cancer 4 times and His lack of Judgement choice Sarah Palin who's assistant may be more knowledgable on the issues than her. Mccain is the Dangerous choice and Sarah Palin has made him an even more dangerous choice.

A vote for Mccain/Palin
Is a big question Mark ????????? Who knows what kind of crisis they will create.

Barack Obama is a product of and tool of this Chicago dirty political machine, arguably the dirtiest and most corrupt in the entire nation, bar none. Is THIS what AMericans really want? Heaven us help us!

Having lived in Europe and watched illegal donations from Republican groups flow in, the headline for this ought to be about illegal influence of foreign elections by McCain's partisan's. Right this minute, there is a huge investigation of ll Street money and money from Swift Boat type groups. These are the tame sort of investigation of this sort of corrupt that we take for granted here, these are CRIMINAL investigations. Before dust of the Bush years settles, there will be plenty of NeoCon crooks that dare not set foot out of this country for fear of arrest and imprisonment. If we have any brains, we will extradite every single one of them.

Posted by: mibrooks27 | October 5, 2008 3:45 PM

The important thing that is missing in this charge is the basis for raising this complaint. Is it a smear? Is it paranoia or is there reason for the complaint? It is easy to make a charge it is harder to prove its accuracy.

It is the same thing as the Republican bringing charges against Palin for her e-mail accounts. Altough in that case partisan politics is not in play.

How does the RNC plan to handle McCainiac's Federal Fundraising Issue:

McCain Able to Skirt Limits of Federal Financing

www(dot)washingtonpost(dot)com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/16/AR2008091603321(dot)html?referrer=digg

Then, we have the crazy Missouri Gov. attempting to use the courts because he hates having a African American do well in his state. Let's not forget about the RNC's problem with Matt Blunt:
The former deputy legal counsel to Gov. Matt Blunt sued the governor and four of his top aides Wednesday, alleging a wide-ranging conspiracy to cover up the administration’s activities.
The suit, filed in Jackson County Circuit Court, describes schemes within the governor’s office to destroy public documents, to evade the state Sunshine law by sending text messages on personal Blackberrys and to fire a long-time state employee for political reasons. ...

According to a news release from the Missouri Democratic Party, the Missouri Ethics Commission announced today that they have referred a complaint filed against Gov. Matt Blunt for violating Missouri's campaign finance laws to the Attorney General's office. This is believed to be the first time since the Ethics Commission was formed in 1993 that they have found probable cause to refer an ethics complaint against a sitting governor to a prosecutor.

The complaint, which was filed by the Missouri Democratic Party, charges that Matt Blunt failed to report an illegal in-kind contribution of a tour bus to his gubernatorial campaign by Mike Kehoe, who he recently appointed to the Highway Commission. Only after the ethics complaint was filed did Blunt's campaign pay Kehoe for use of the tour bus. However, even then the campaign only paid a third of the bus's fair market value, again constituting an illegal in-kind contribution well above the legal limit.

"It's fitting that on the very day the Ethics Commission announces they have found probable cause to refer an ethics complaint against Matt Blunt for prosecution, that Gov. Blunt and his chief of staff are in Sun Valley, Idaho thanking political contributors," said Missouri Democratic Party spokesman Jack Cardetti. "Clearly this is an administration that shows little regard for ethical guidelines and acts as if they are above the law."

I expect a virtual tsunami of financial support will invariably yield a few errors. Fortunately for the McCain campaign and the RNC, this is not an issue, their support is much more, shall we say, restrained. A natural consequence of their party's utter failure of governance and embarrassing lack of maturity in public discourse. Thank goodness.

Posted by: zukermand | October 5, 2008 3:09 PM

As a matter of good business practices all campaigns have a responsibility to police their fund raising practices. Both the RNC and DNC have the obligation to factually expose wrongdoings and the FEC is the appropriate vehicle to check into the claims. Wrong donations are typically returned or passed onto charities, not used by the campaign. The media has responsibility to keep such activities in a context exclusive of implied meanings or partisanship.

Posted by: louismraskin | October 5, 2008 2:58 PM

Ah the RNC, so good at obscuring the picture, with fallacy and distortion.

Maybe they can actually answer as to why John McCain and Sarah Palin are in favor of making rape victims pay for their own sexual assault examinations.

Palin had the policy instituted during her tenure as mayor, and McCain, more than once has voted against legislation that would outlaw the practice.

Don't take my word for it. I have links to the actual legislation.

I think you have it wrong, let's see what happens when the media starts looking into McCain's funding and close association (Davis and Buse for starters) with lobbyists for Fannie and Freddie. Let's not forget the contributions and close associations with lobbyists for the gambling industry.

I probably don't need to tell anyone that Matthew Mosk is downplaying this issue in order to help the BHO campaign.

Mosk's "handful of instances" are actually hundreds of donations totaling tens of thousands of dollars from apparently one person using fake names.

And, the FEC's list of potentially questionable foreign donors totals over $33.8 million, with some of that money apparently coming from Iran and other countries:

We CAN NO LONGER AFFORD to continue to travel on the path of the Democratic and Republican 'push forward' into the destruction of our Constitution and Sovereignty as a nation and elect politicians such as Obama and McCain to ANY office of government were they can continue to make laws against us and REFUSE to listen to our voice.

We MUST look into 3rd Party Presidential Candidates such as REP. CHUCK BALDWIN - endorsed by Ron Paul. He is the ONLY candidate that promises to defend and protect our Constitution and our Sovereignty!

IT IS OUR TURN TO STAND UP FOR OUR REPUBLIC AND MAKE A REAL CHANGE HAPPEN - VOTING AGAINST DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN RULE IS THE BEGINNING!
