Obama Talks Socialism, Communism and PB&J

Barack Obama speaks at a campaign rally in Raleigh, N.C., Oct. 29, 2008. (Jason Reed/Reuters)

By Peter Slevin
RALEIGH, N.C. -- On a day when he aims to reach into millions of living rooms with his final pitch for the presidency, Barack Obama dismissed John McCain's economic ideas as "the same old politics and the same old policies."

He also had a word to say here about socialism, communism and his time in kindergarten, dismissing McCain's efforts to label him a socialist.

"Lately, he calls me a socialist for wanting to roll back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans so we can finally give tax relief to the middle class," Obama said.

"I don't know, by the end of the week he'll be accusing me of being a secret communist because I shared my toys in kindergarten. I shared my peanut butter and jelly sandwich."

Obama aims to be pretty much everywhere a television signal can reach today. His campaign, flush with record-setting cash, bought 30 minutes on each of seven television networks tonight.

His first rally with former president Bill Clinton is scheduled to start in Kissimmee, Fla., at 11 p.m. Eastern, in time for live feeds to late local news shows in half the country. He is also taping an appearance on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" to be aired tonight.

The infomercial, with voices from the campaign trail and Obama talking to the camera live from Sunrise, Fla., and on tape, will be shown on CBS, Fox, NBC, BET, MSNBC, and TV One. A Spanish-language version will run on Univision.

Obama aims to prevent complacency amid polls that show him with a solid lead in battleground states. A series of McCain and Republican National Committee ads are challenging his readiness. One notes "quick rise to power" and calls him inexperienced before signing off with a line mocking his campaign's reliance on the Internet: "Barack Obama.untested."

"We cannot afford to slow down or sit back or let up one day, one minute, one second in this last week," Obama told a crowd of 28,000 here after a supporter had urged the throng to walk six blocks south on Salisbury Street to vote on this windy afternoon.

In the next 48 hours, Obama has events scheduled in Florida, Virginia, Missouri, Iowa and Indiana -- all states carried twice by President Bush, save for Iowa, which Al Gore won narrowly in 2000.

"Don't believe for a second this election's over," Obama said. "Don't think for a minute that power will concede without a fight. We have to work like our futures depend on it, because they do."

In North Carolina Barak Obama made a speech in which he said:

“He’s called me a socialist for wanting to roll back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans so we can finally give tax relief to the middle class. I don’t know what’s next,” Obama said at a rally at the Halifax mall here.

“By the end of the week, he’ll be accusing me of being a secret communist because I shared my toys in kindergarten. I shared my peanut butter and jelly sandwich.”

Obama misses the point. When he was a kid HE decided to share his peanut butter sandwiches and his toys. That is noble. That is generous. But what if the school had MANDATED that he share his food and his toys? That would be different. That would be Socialism.

What if Obama had said, ‘When I was a kid, I shared Joe the Plumber’s peanut butter sandwiches and toys with the other kids in school?’ That is VASTLY DIFFERENT.

Think about it.

Here is another story from my years in Europe. I was working in Vienna with a man who had been visiting churches in Eastern Europe (then communist) countries since the days of Stalin. He had a story he often told:

A man came up to me in Berlin who had just gotten out of East Germany, having escaped like many East Germans did. I was preaching in a church there and he wanted to make a comment. “Do you know what the difference is between Communism and Christianity?’ he asked? “No,” I answered. “Communism says - What’s yours is mine - Christianity says - What’s mine is yours.’”

I have often thought of that simple, profound statement, when sorting out any sort of Socialist agenda in government. It is a root issue, when you think about it. It is all about control. It is also all about boundaries, who owns what, and who has rights to what.

The Socialists (and the Communists as well) often launch their campaigns with high ideals. “It is all about sharing!” They will say. “The goal is that those who have share with those who do not have!”

Noble words.

I am all for sharing. Christ Himself told us to give what we have to those who do not have and to take care of the poor. I have never seen more generous and effective people than those who believe and follow those words with their hearts.

But with Socialism, it is about more than that. It is about who makes the decision that I will share. Is it I that make the decision that I will share and how much I will share; or is it the state that decides I will share and how much?

That is the root issue.

Sarah Palin is a Freeloader

$150,000 shopping sprees (at all the best "elitist" shops, no less), on the Republican National Committee tab.
.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14805.html
.

$21,012 worth of free flights for her daughters, charged to the state of Alaska.
.
http://www.boston.com/news/politics/2008/articles/2008/10/22/alaska_paid_for_palin_daughters_to_travel/
.

All this, when she already makes $125,000 a year as governor and pockets an extra $22,883 in energy extraction royalties.

Palin is a chisler supreme.

All of which makes the fact that she charged $16,951 in expenses charged to the state, including 312 per diem allowances for staying in her own home just that much more amazing.
.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/08/AR2008090803088.html
.

A dual income family, with Sarah earning $125K. Free travel (even for the family), and now free clothes, hair and makeup. They can actually go out in her backyard and shoot a moose, keeping her family in free mooseburger for a year. And still she feels the need to cheat. Shoot that moose for free and still charge the state $60 per burger. And she claims she deserves every bit of it.

Now that's what I call a perverse sense of entitlement.

"Sounds like socialism to me," to borrow a phrase.

Just another fake "bootstrapper" Republican. What a shocker.

Meanwhile, we all have to endure the indignity of Palin turning the campaign for the Vice Presidency into some kind of FOX reality TV makeover show, where they take some ridiculously not-ready-for-prime-time pol and dress her up, push her out on the stage, and see if they can turn her into a VP in 10 weeks.

What the f^ck, right? It's just being second in line to the nuclear launch codes. No big thing. We could even do a whole co-promotional deal with moose sandwiches at Subway.

Thanks, Republicans. You sure do love our country n' stuff and goodluck to you in your newly minted 4th party gadfly status starting in 2009.

Barack Obama = US Citizen
Barry Sorento = Non US Citizen

Wich one are we voting for????

Ahhhhh....Just kidding all my Democratic friends, I think Barack would do a decent job in the White House...I just like McCain better, and that's the beauty of a democracy isn't it.

Posted by: ilovemicaella | October 29, 2008 11:24 PM

No...I don't think "us wingnuts" are whinning, maybe just a laugh or two, because we aren't the ones looking for handouts, we've worked hard and when we make mistakes, we just keep pushing forward. I really enjoyed Obama's 3 million dollar 30 minute add on his "smoke and mirrors" economic policy. The best policy would of been for him to donate that money to a homeless shelter or for something good. In all seriousness, I hope it makes everyone feel good to bash oneanothers parties...I does me and I'll get to do it more and more once I start getting my tax breaks for the middle class!

Posted by: ilovemicaella | October 29, 2008 11:13 PM

The Wingnuts are seeing their 90's power grap being yanked away from them because of their own incompetence and they're throwing a tantrum. After controlling the white house for the last eight years and controlling congress for ten of the last twelve years they've proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that conservatism is a failed ideology and now they're panicking because they're getting their arses kicked.

Why doesn't Obama talk about helping out the poor and homeless. Its not like a couple thousand of them aren't sleeping on grates when he drives into work every morning. That would bother me! Ohhhhh...that's right, they make up .005 percent of the voting population. I can't wait for all my handouts and I'm middle class! At least McCain has a plan to help those poor and homeless find some dignity in getting a job when he gives small buisness a fair shake in the market place. When he lowers big buisness taxes, so we pay less in the store. At least McCain has a sound plan, it may not be perfect, but it isn't part of a smoke and mirrors multi-million dollar marketing plan. These posts crack me up, but I like the thought of our Nation heading towards a socialist movement, we can all share in others hard work. Yeahhhh!

Posted by: ilovemicaella | October 29, 2008 11:01 PM

Obama is more like Bush than any of you Dems will admit. If you would turn your thinking caps on and lay down the peace pipe for just a second, you can't say it isn't true. McCain may have voted with Bush (Or what really should be the Republican Party) 90% of the time, depending on how you want to work the numbers, I can make the case the 1. At least he voted, even when it wasn't popular. 2. Obama voted with the Republicans 82% of the time. Of course that was only having to vote 16 times. Obama openly calls out rouge nations, He lies about Tax cuts for the middle class, and he does shady under the table deals when it comes to campaign finance. He's going to march right into Pakistan and get Bin Laden...Hey I don't need a clearance nor do you...Obama announces to the world his intentions....Sound like anyone familiar!!!

Posted by: ilovemicaella | October 29, 2008 10:49 PM

In a twisted sort of way I almost want McCain to win this election because four more years worth of failed Bush/McCain policies would for all intents and purposes be the end of the Republican party as we know it today. They would become the 4th party gadflies that they deserve to be.

The only question is, would this country survive it?

You people out there who live in economic downtrodden states like Ohio, West Virgina and Pa etc, if you are stupid enough to vote for McCain you will deserve every single bit of economic hardship that a McCain presidency will give you.

I'm sorry but you are wrong, this generation, those in Iraq for Gulf War 1, Gulf War 2, the Surge, Afghanistan, have heard INCOMING more than they should have ever had to.

They are facing the most insidious urban warfare, fighting an insurgency, asymmetric warfare of snipers and IED's.

I think they understand the cost more than those of us who have not had to fight.

Now maybe you can explain how this relates to Socialism.

Despite all predictions, this election is not, in fact, about Bush. He's a non-entity in it all.

That's fairly remarkable. And against the odds, the McCain/Palin campaign has managed to suck entirely on its own. Sure, the Democrats wanted to paint McCain (accurately, when it comes to nearly all actual policy positions) as the second coming of Bush. But McCain resisted the label, and instead found ways to suck that were completely independent of his ties to Bush.

McCain: He's terrible at giving speeches, yes. His policies are dismal, and more to the point are badly elucidated -- when he's willing to talk about them at all. We know he's for the Iraq War: we don't know anything he intends to do differently, except do more of it and presume it'll all work out this time around. His choice of Palin for the number two spot was, from the standpoint of anyone not a hardcore conservative, bizarre, and smacked of the erratic, shoot-from-the-hip nature of decision making that his past detractors had warned of. His campaign managers have been vitriolic towards the press, and dismissive of the public, and as erratic as their own candidate. His vaunted surrogates have played a round-robin game of publicly humiliating themselves and their candidate (attaching himself to Phil Gramm, noted hellspawn of all that is economically manipulative and devastating, was an inspired touch.) And his behavior during this economic crisis -- making a show of tooling down to Washington to "solve" things, and having his party dissolve into chaos around him, and then rejoining his campaign with nothing "solved" at all, and things in fact much, much worse, and looking for all the world like a man who has just been pied in the face by circumstance -- has been a complete and very public fiasco. He has done his very best to manage to convince everyone that he is, in fact, not anything like presidential material. He's never looked less presidential.

Oh -- and his more impromptu surrogates, people like "Joe the Plumber" and "Tape #254 Of Sarah Palin Saying Something Crazy" and "Campaign Supporter Not Really Attacked At ATM" have added a burnt-popcorn, sideshow quality to the campaign. That hasn't helped.

So... congratulations to McCain, I guess. He managed to do the seemingly impossible -- be trailing in the election not because people were deathly tired of George W. Bush and didn't want anything to do with his party, but because people are deathly tired of John McCain, as well. And I think the award needs to be shared communally, because at all levels of the Republican Party, candidates seem to be going out of their way to make themselves similarly dislikable, out of touch, or (and this is the favorite approach) be ranting with such gusto about the incipient socialism if any of you poor cretins out there dare get better healthcare or a more stable economy that they seem, to be blunt, f---ing nuts.

It took me 22 years to figure out that it included handouts!

OMG McCain Is A Socialist!

Down in the polls, John McCain's new Divide & Flail™ strategy is to call Barack Obama's tax cut for 95% of Americans "socialism."

Well, McCain must have once been a socialist, because it turns out that for years he supported higher taxes on the wealthy to pay for lower taxes on the middle-class.

The YouTube don't lie:

OMG! Oh No, Palin Is A Socialist Too!

It's not just McCain -- Sarah Palin is a socialist too! Hendrik Hertzberg notes (emphasis added):

"A few weeks before Palin was nominated for Vice-President, she told a visiting journalist—Philip Gourevitch, of this magazine—that "we’re set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs."

I just want to thank all the Dems we voted for the past several years for doing so much for this country. If anyone can list anything significant, that would be nice. Who has control on the Hill right now...hmmmmm...and it's been like watching bread bake...its just the wrong time to have "Big" talk..."little" action in DC...I'd rather us make mistakes than do nothing at all, I'm voting for McCain. By the way, Obama isn't giving tax cuts to the middle class, those of us who are middle class know that he is going to end the Bush tax cuts. Obama has opposed them, look at his voting record, so we Middle Class will go back to the percentages we paid in 2000, even if he gives us a rebate, it will still take more money out of our pocket. His message is great, but an educated mind can see beyond the smoke and mirrors.

Is Palin a Whack Job?

YOU BETCHA!

Whack Job: noun - A crazy, possibly dangerous, person.
.
http://www.allwords.com/word-whackjob.html
.

Politico brings word that McCain advisors are upping the verbal leak campaign against Sarah Palin, who must long for the days when members of her campaign were calling her a hockey mom and Joe Six-Pack.

A top McCain adviser one-ups the priceless "diva" description, calling Palin "a whack job."

Whack job. It's a good charge, cause it's true! This is one of my favorite leaks from the anti-Palin forces working for McCain, right up with the claim that she's "going rogue." Like Iran?

I've never seen a breakdown in discipline like this on a presidential campaign. It testifies to McCain's lack of leadership and to the state of his campaign. Knowing they're going to lose, Mittens' kittens are angling for advantage against Palin going into the 2012 primary.

Ah, yes, the coming GOP primary. Fantasize, my friends, with me. It's 2011, Obama and the Democrats in Congress have passed good progressive legislation to help bring us out of recession, institute universal health care, and end our dependence on foreign oil. Our troops are home from Iraq. Then we will all get to sit back and watch Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, and whoever else fight for the right to lose to Obama.

It looks like the the McCains are going to be significant contributors under the Obama plan. Lets start thanking them now for being so successful and taking care of all of us. These rich nasty people are going to be very significant to all of us in the near future. We should show some respect. Unfortunately, the hundreds of millions Barack receives from other countries may be exempt in his plan. Check on that for me will you please.

MCCAIN IS OUT OF TOUCH WITH MIDDLE-CLASS AMERICA'S ECONOMIC TROUBLES! McCain in April 08 declared that there had been "great progress economically" during the Bush years. On more than one occasion, he diagnosed Americans' concerns over the dismal U.S. economy as "psychological." (Phil Gramm, McCain's close friend and economic adviser supposedly excommunicated over his "whiners" remarks, is back with the McCain campaign full time again.) McCain, a man who owns eight homes nationwide, in March lectured Americans facing foreclosure that they ought to be "doing what is necessary -- working a second job, skipping a vacation, and managing their budgets -- to make their payments on time." And when all else fails, McCain told the people of the economically devastated regions in Martin County, Kentucky and Youngstown, Ohio, there's always eBay. McCain doesn't understand our tanking economy because it doesn't affect him.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZxIYTEDARU

The $100 Million Man
Courtesy of his wife Cindy's beer distribution fortune (one her late father apparently chose not to share with her half-sister Kathleen), the McCains are worth well over $100 million. (In the two-page tax summary she eventually released to the public, Cindy McCain reported another $6 million in 2006.) As Salon reported back in 2000, the second Mrs. McCain's millions were essential in launching her husband's political career. Unsurprisingly, the Weekly Standard's Matthew Continetti, who four years ago called Theresa Heinz-Kerry a "sugar mommy," has been silent on the topic of Cindy McCain.

The Joys of (Eight) Home Ownership
While fellow adulterer John Edwards was pilloried for his mansion, John McCain's eight homes around the country have received little notice or criticism. His properties include a 10 acre lake-side Sedona estate, euphemistically called a "cabin" by the McCain campaign, and a home featured in Architectural Digest. The one featuring "remote control window coverings" was recently put up for sale. Still, their formidable resources did not prevent the McCains from failing to pay taxes on a tony La Jolla, California condo used by Cindy's aged aunt.

The Anheuser-Busch Windfall
While John McCain played a critical role in facilitating DHL's takeover of Airborne (and with it, the looming loss of 8,000 jobs in Wilmington, Ohio), Cindy McCain is set to earn a staggering multi-million dollar pay-day from the acquisition of Anheuser-Busch by the Belgian beverage giant, In Bev. As the Wall Street Journal reported in July, Mrs. McCain runs the third largest Anheuser-Busch distributorship in the nation, and owns between $2.5 and $5 million in the company's stock.

Ladies and Germs!

I give you your 2008 Republican Party!

From Slate.com:

"This is what the Republican Party has done to us this year: It has placed within reach of the Oval Office a woman (PALIN) who is a religious fanatic and a proud, boastful ignoramus. Those who despise science and learning are not anti-elitist. They are morally and intellectually slothful people who are secretly envious of the educated and the cultured. And those who prate of spiritual warfare and demons are not just "people of faith" but theocratic bullies. On Nov. 4, anyone who cares for the Constitution has a clear duty to repudiate this wickedness and stupidity."

Our economy is structurally sound for the long term"

"The American people can remain confident in the soundness and the resilience of our financial system"
-Henry Paulson - Sept 15, 2008

"The fundamentals of our economy are strong"
-John McCain - Sept 15, 2008
.

McCain does not have the ability to fix this economic crisis. After declaring the fundamentals of the economy strong, he created a political circus in Washington by mucking up bailout negotiations; a deplorable campaign stunt, considering he and his political cronies helped cause the current meltdown.

It was McCain and his economic adviser Phil Gramm who pushed for the deregulation that helped lead to the banking crisis, and it was McCain's crony Rick Davis who had deep lobbyist ties to Freddie Mac. Don't let others be fooled by McCain's economic grandstanding because the reality is his policies and principles will only exacerbate our financial hardships.

McCain is being deceitful with his sudden populist message and support for regulation; his economic policies still favor our nation's wealthy elite.

"Hey old man, it's 2008 - nobody under 45 even knows what that means"!

What's going on with his campaign? I mean it just reeks of obvious desperation.

Why is McCain STILL, 7 days before the election, trying to rally his base? Isn't that what Blunder Woman Palin is for?

Imagine how close this race could have been if the old, moderate, John McCain had popped up after the convention? Imagine the breaking of the tire swing rope as every journalist in sight would have jumped on in sheer exultory delight that the Mac-2000 was back. I want McCain to lose as bad as anyone, but it's almost getting painful, it's like watching a punch drunk fighter get mauled and the ref won't call it.

I was a strong Hillary supporter but now I am supporting Obama because he is the democratic nominee. But I was greatly disappointed that he did not consider it important to include Hillary into his infomercial. This is nothing but mean-spiritedness. This is something that really bothers me about Obama. He likes to be surrounded yes men and yes women, as we saw today.

This is one reason that he would never rise to true greatness because he carries this streak of petty mindedness.

Have you all seen that comment, again and again, by this black person wanting you to do something to his private part?

And you think the Obama campaign is not a racist campaign? Are you really going to do that person wants you to do to his private part?

Wise up, all Americans, black and white and brown, Obama campaign is not about how he can help the average Americans. Obama's campaign is all about black hatred, about black revenge, and about black pride.

If you still cannot be awaken by that black person and his hatred, wait until you are forced to do what he wants you to do.

Then, it's all too late, for you and your children, and their children.

Time to turn the page on the divide and conquer Republicans. Enough is Enough. Our great nation can come together under President Barack Obama and thankfully the American electorate is intelligently going to choose a man of intellect and integrity in a landslide. President Obama has survived an onslaught of lies and smears from the team that has no plan for our country. Obama is a communist or socialist? Why then would Bill Gates and Warren Buffet the two wealthiest capitalists on earth be supporting his candidacy? Veterans are for Mc Same? Why then did the Iraq and Afghanistan veterans grade him a D and Barack Obama a B+ look it up at iava.com, Mc Cain did not even support the GI Bill education benefits for veterans. Shame on you Mc Same. This decorated veteran has voted proudly for Obama. Vote hope not fear! Much as Mc Same and igloo trash Pailin want to scream Boo at Halloween we only need fear more Republican leadership. OBAMANOS! SI SE PUEDE! YES WE WILL IN A LANDSLIDE!

The rates under Obama will return to the higher 2000 level."...but like you're likely heroes Rush Limbaugh or Michael Savage, you conveniently leave out that Obama's plan lets the 2007 rates lapse to the 2000 rates on the top 2% of incomes

I do know that with this $5000 TAXABLE redistribution of wealth that McSame is proposing to pay for health care; followed by taxing health insurance, then with the continued occupation of Iraq, McSame will have to raise taxes...on EVERYONE except the wealthiest.

They are what we call LIVs in political science (Low information voters) bush won in 2004 based on livs. Peopl who beleived Iraq attacked us on 9/11, that still believed saddam had WMD, that beleived in trickle down (mckane still does) that beleived the draft dodger was a war hero and the war hero was a traitor, all sorts of whoey. Not as many getting fooled this time by the vast right wing noise machine. Partly kudos to the legitmate media for standing up and doing their jobs. Hats off to CNN, Newsweek, Time, NYTimes. The best way to gauge how successful Obama's 30 minute infomercial was, is to view the statements being posted by the McInsaniacs.

Obama connected and told Americans what they already knew, about the economy, about their jobs, about their families, about their fears, about their hopes and dreams.....about America

McInsane plays the smear and fear game and Americans are rejecting his neocon nazi goose stepping of business as usual...just telling lies and swiftboating the opponent.

OBAMA connected with Americans and America. Thank God we have Obama to lead America and Americans are ready to join in Obama's fight to restore America ...from the damage done by the neocon nazi's and their republican fascist racist agendas.

Tidbits of Wisdom From Abraham Lincoln-Fiction!
Summary of the eRumor:
Alleged quotes from Abraham Lincoln about the poor, the weak, prosperity, workers, class hatred, and character.
The Truth:
These words are often attributed to Abraham Lincoln, but according to the book They Never Said it: A Book of Fake Quotes, Misquotes, & Misleading Attributions, they are not from Lincoln.

The quotes were published in 1942 by William J. H. Boetcker, a Presbyterian minister. He released a pamphlet titled Lincoln On Limitations, which did include a Lincoln quote, but also added 10 statements written by Boetcker himself.

They were:

1. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
2. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong
3. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
4. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
5. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and independence.
6. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
7. You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
8. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
9. You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
10 You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they will not do for themselves.

People who got the pamphlet thought the 10 statements were written by Lincoln and they have been distributed widely under Lincoln's name.

I am optimistic (maybe naive) that Senator Obama's pledge not to raise taxes on 95% of wage earners will hold true.

What if Senator Reid or Speaker Pelosi rewrite the legislation that Obama wishes to introduce on the tax code? What if they say all Americans over $100K need to have their taxes raised? Will Obama 'veto' that legislation?

I don't know. Just hope, I guess.

Posted by: jhpbriton | October 29, 2008 8:22 PM

BOTTOM LINE: NO TAX CUT BY OBAMA

OBAMA's PLAN MAKES ALL AMERICANS PAY HIGHER TAXES

Senator Obama is not being truthful when he says only Americans earning $250,000 will get a tax increase.

Senator Obama plans to let the current 2007 rates lapse. The rates under Obama will return to the higher 2000 level. Senator Obama claims that letting a tax cut lapse is not a "tax increase."

But requiring Americans to pay more taxes than in 2007 amounts to a TAX INCREASE.

For a married family, filing jointly and earning $75,000 a year, this INCREASE will be $3,074.

For a married family, filing jointly and earning $50,000, this INCREASE will be $1,512.

Even struggling American families making just $25,000 a year will see a tax INCREASE-- they'll pay $715 more in 2010 than they did in 2007.

Across the board, ALL WORKING AMERICANS WILL SEE SIGNIFICANT INCREASES in their taxes with Obama's plans.

Peace out and calm down.

That's the problem with McCain voters. They are just so angry. No one is entitled to be President. Not Hillary Clinton, not John McCain and not Barack Obama. That's why we vote. But we don't need to be accusing each other being unpatriotic or stupid or terrorist lovers.

That stuff is ugly and I might add VERY UN AMERICAN!

Progressive tax code is okay as long as funds actually pay for government programs.

Analogy - Chemistry class in High School. Top student gets a 99. Normal distribution. Lowest score is a 55 - fail. You don't give the individual scoring a '55' an additional 15 points for a 'C'. Provide after hours study program. A mentor. Etc. Show the individual good study habits.

Equal opportunity, not equal outcomes.

Posted by: jhpbriton | October 29, 2008 8:07 PM

US is at a tipping point. Once the Obama plan is in place nearly 49% of the public (over 18) will not pay income taxes or pay into social security (but they will qualify for social security with the help of the transfer payment).

I propose a modest progressive income tax for all wage earners even those at 2 FPL. Make it 5%. Graduate it upwards from there. Top rate at 40%. If your paying taxes, you are more likely to demand that government spend it wisely. If I can get everything for 'free', I do not care how government pays for it. Even John Keynes would agree with this.

Obama is making history, who could've ever predicted we'd live to see the day that a Black man would be capable of buying the White House. With a little help from 3+ million of his closest friends. I donated $1200 myself, best real estate deal I ever made.

I can't tell you GOP supporters how delightful your posts are, all scare tactic and panicky. I think you forgot that the sky is also descending.

Keep 'em coming, please. It shows just how afraid you are of change - and how inarticulate and bellicose your party's representation truly is.

Here's a hint: learn to live with disappointment.

I have learned that over the last eight years of total incompetence by the GOP administration.

So basically, this Candidacy, this Democratic Party, is a reaction to the Bush years, and I call you incredibly insane for expecting the same outcome this time: America is smarter than that.

Now, I'm laughing at YOU and your irrational attacks on a perfectly sound American, Mr. Obama.

Keep those zingers coming, though. It ought to be fun to see just how dim youur bulbs are. After all, this isn't a completely, 100% capitalistic state at any rate, and there are ALREADY many instances of re-distribution in our country - A country I may add, was perfectly swell until you realized that Obama's classic campaign has basically outclassed you!

Obama Rocks. You'll see.

Hur, Hur, Hur.

You'll get over it.

"Senator Obama’s Plan
Partial extension of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts. Senator Obama has called for extending the tax cuts affecting the middle class while eliminating those benefitting the wealthiest Americans. According to his campaign staff, Obama would extend the child credit expansions; the changes to marriage bonuses and penalties; and the 10, 15, 25, and 28 percent income tax rates, as well as the lower tax rates on capital gains and qualified dividends for taxpayers in those four tax brackets. He would restore the 36 and 39.6 percent rates imposed on the highest income taxpayers. The maximum tax rate on capital gains and dividends would increase from 15 to 20 percent for taxpayers with adjusted gross income over $250,000 for married couples and $200,000 for others. (After 2010, this would represent a tax cut on dividends, which would be taxed at ordinary income rates up to 39.6 percent under current law.) Obama would also restore the phaseouts of personal exemptions and itemized deductions for high-income taxpayers ($250,000 joint; $200,000 others). The thresholds would be indexed for inflation as they are under current law. Senator Obama would also extend several smaller expiring tax cuts, including the adoption credit and the simplifications to the earned income tax credit. Certain other provisions would be modified, as described below."

OBAMA WILL NOT CHANGE MY DEMOCRATIC MIND TONIGHT.

I AM VOTING FOR MCCAIN AND SARAH PALIN.

I AM A WOMAN, HISPANIC AND HALF BLACK.
I GRADUATED FROM THE SAME UNIVERSITY OBAMA DID.

OBAMA SCARED ME SINCE HILLARY CLINTON RAN AGAINST HIM IN THE PRIMARY.

OBAMA IS A MIDDLE EAST PLANT. OBAMA WILL SELL AMERICA TO OIL PUMPING COUNTRIES AND THEIR SOVEREING WEALTH FUNDS. THESE ARE HEGDE FUNDS FOR OIL COMPANIES THAT WILL BUY UP OUR COUNTRIES INFRASTRUCTURE LIKE THE FINANCIALS, TRANSPORTAION, REAL ESTATE AND MILITARY INTELLIGENCE.

OBAMA IS THE ENEMY FROM WITHIN.

I WORKED FOR THE HILLARY CLINTON CAMPAIGN. BE AFRAID. BE VERY AFRAID. WE HAVE SEEN THIS GUY PLAY THE RACE CARD FOR TOO LONG.

OBAMA IS NOT WINNING IN FLORIDA. HE LOST HIS LEAD.

OBAMA'S WANTS TO MAKE SOCIAL SECURITY INSOLVANT.

OBAMA WILL INCREASE THE PAYROLL TAX UNTIL THE MIDDLE CLASS ARE TAXED TO DEATH, BUT THOSE EARNING $8000 A YEAR WILL GET A $500 TAX CREDIT.

THAT IS NOT CHANGE. THAT IS SOCIALISM LIKE IN RUSSIA AND CHINA.

WOMEN DO NOT TRUST OBAMA. WE WILL LOSE ECONOMICALLY BECAUSE SMALL BUSINESSES WILL HAVE TO PAY THE PAYRO;; TAX. SMALL BUSINESSES WHICH ARE CREATED MOSTLY BY WOMEN WILL GO BANKRUPT OR NOT MAKE THE KIND OF PROFIT TO HOLD ON TO THEIR EMPLOYEES.

You mean like McCain's pastor Rod Parsley or Palin's witch remover? I think McCain should have been in contact with Palin's preacher Muthee for some of them campaign financing prayers.

http://www.motherjones.com/washington_dispatch/2008/05/john-mccain-rod-parsley-pastor-problem.html

""We say grace to be reigned upon her in the name of Jesus," Muthee prayed while Palin bowed her head. "We are asking you as the body of Christ in this valley make a way for Sarah even in the political arena . . . Bring finances her way even for the campaign in the name of Jesus . . . Give her men and women who will buck her up in the name of Jesus . . . Oh, Father, use her to turn this nation the other way around . . . "

"So far, not that unusual. Intercessory public prayer is a common and often powerful form of encouragement and blessing in evangelical or Pentecostal settings, for politicians or anyone else. But Muthee goes on: "In the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus, every form of witchcraft is what you rebuke. In the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus, father make away now.""

How many times can republicans throw out the whole ACORN, voter fraud thing? ACORN signs up people to register to vote. They have to (under the law) turn in ALL of the registrations to the state voter registrars (as they well should). They FLAG the ones they believe are not accurate. This has been well documented, but McCain and his minions continue to try to make it an issue. ACORN and groups like them get folks that might otherwise have their votes suppressed. As you see on ACORNS home page, "Not this time." When it comes to voter fraud, the republicans still hold first place.

If there was a white Presidential candidate who was found to be a member of a racist church, same as the Rev. Wright's church except substitute "white values" for "black values" and visa vera, THE MEDIA WOULD BE IN TOTAL ATTACK MODE AGAINST THAT WHITE CANDIDATE.

OBAMA IS A RACIST - OBAMA HAS GIVE $20,000.00 TO A RACIST CHURCH IN ONE YEAR.

Washington Post - there are a lot of Churches in Chicago which are black and which are not racist - Obama did not have to give $20,000.00 to this one Church - STOP GIVING OBAMA A PASS ON HIS RACISM AGAINST WHITES.

WAKE UP WASHINGTON POST WAKE UP MEDIA.

WAKE UP AMERICA.

missouriboy has the right idea. Send the crooks Obama, Pelosi, Reid and Frank to Cuba. Not Guantanamo, but Havana where they can experience all that they pine for in government.

Don't buy a gun son, if you don't already have one, it could be more dangerous than not being armed. Only a few gun totin' repubs will ever frequent the gay bar in your neighborhood....they won't shoot you as they too much respect for the cost of ammunition.

Not sure why ACORN keeps coming up as they have McCain's committed support.

"Sen. John McCain was happy to accept the honors and acclamation of the Service Employees International Union, People for the American Way, UNITE HERE -- and ACORN. Here he is, on Feb. 20, 2006, telling immigration rights activists at a rally in Miami that they "are what makes America special." ACORN co-sponsored the rally, and its volunteers surround McCain, and while there's no evidence that McCain ever formally teamed with the group, the video serves as a reminder that he did not mind being associated with them when the politics of the moment were different."

Wow. McCain supporters describe Obama and his supporters as "Treasonous" and "WW2 Collaborators". I am actually scared that if McCain/Palin wins, McCain supporters might try to throw all Democrats in jail, because anyone that is not a Republican is a traitor or "enemy non-combatant". That would solve the problem of Democratic control of congress. Throw Barney Frank, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi in Guantanamo. Damn glad the GOP believes in no gun control. I may have to buy a gun to protect my freedom from the GOP thought police!

Since Obama's tax plan is even LESS progressive than Bill Clinton's (Obama retains the tax cuts Bush put in place for married couples), I assume you were screaming about socialism in the 90s - or were you too busy enjoying the prosperity to notice?!

Posted by: NMModerate1 | October 29, 2008

Dude, I don't scream about anything.

Yes I remember the prosperity that ended just about the time the dems got a majority. Obama, Frank, Reid and Pelosi worked full time to advance Freddie and Fannie...kept all inquiries at bay by attacking the questioner with ruthless efficiency. They sent tax money to ACORN and god knows what other groups intent on destroying America through voter fraud, lending fraud and intimidation.

Your crown prince, Obama should not be running for President...he should be in handcuffs awaiting trial along with his co-conspirators Frank, Reid and Pelosi. They are crooks just as surely as ACORN is committing massive voter fraud as you read this.

Anyone who votes for this a-s clown is putting our country in danger in the same way collaborators put us in danger in WW2. And they were treasonous!

Barack Hussein Obama and Joe Biden then
your voting to let the Chicago Pickpocket
Barack Obama and ACORN pick your pocket,
steal your wallet or purse, and all the while their pal Crazy Joe Biden is trying
to distrack you so Obama and ACORN can and
will rob you blind,by acting crazy and Biden running his stupid big mouth endlessly.

WOW! So that's what Barack Hussein Obama
meant by "Change You Can Believe In!"
Vote John McCain and Sarah Palin 2008!
Send Obama and Biden to the Jailhouse
not the White House as the Jailhouse
is where Obama,Biden and ACORN Belong!

Gen. "Yellowcake" Curry?? He sounds a bit out there to me.

"A national defense analyst says President Bush should be commended for keeping quiet about a discovery that could have blown his critics out of the water.

Retired Major General Jerry Curry is a decorated combat veteran who served as an Army aviator, paratrooper, and Ranger during a military career that began during the Korean conflict. He recently wrote on his blog about a very under reported story by the Associated Press.

According to the report, a large stockpile of concentrated natural Uranium, known as "yellowcake," reached a Canadian port to complete a top secret U.S. operation that included a two-week airlift from Baghdad, and a ship voyage crossing two oceans. The Uranium material had been housed at a former Iraqi nuclear complex 12 miles from Baghdad.

Curry says the president kept mum about the discovery in order to keep terrorists in the dark. "He made a very brave stand, a resolute stand..., in which he decided that he wasn't going to blab everything to the press," Curry commends. "...And in the meantime while he kept it quiet, he was buying time from the terrorists to get all that stuff out of the country. So that's what was done -- he just very quietly kept his mouth shut."

"The press beat him to death for the last several years," he continues, "and now it turns out that, yes, there were weapons of mass destruction...." Curry also maintains that Saddam Hussein had an active nuclear program and the material could have been made into a nuclear weapon.

President Bush's actions took courage, he notes, and all Americans should be thankful to have such a brave president who puts the welfare of the American people above personal considerations."

WARNING -- IF YOU HAVE EMPLOYER-BASED HEALTHCARE – YOU WILL LOSE BIG TIME UNDER McCAINS HEALTH PLAN!!!

A study from scholars at Columbia, Harvard, Purdue and Michigan projects that 20 million Americans who have employment-based health insurance would lose it under the McCain plan…

For starters, the McCain health plan would treat employer-paid health benefits as income that employees would have to pay taxes on.

According to the study: “The McCain plan will force millions of Americans into the weakest segment of the private insurance system — the nongroup market — where cost-sharing is high, covered services are limited and people will lose access to benefits they have now.”

A retired Army general said today at a news conference sponsored by the Republican Party of Virginia that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama isn't qualified to be Commander-in-Chief of the United States because he couldn't get top secret clearance.

Jerry Curry said Obama's past association with former anti-war radical William Ayers would prevent him from getting security clearance.

Curry, who is an African-American, spoke at an ethnic outreach news conference at the Bell Tower in Capitol Square.

If Barack Obama had been commander-in-chief of the forces in the Revolutionary War instead of George Washington "we'd still be a British colony," Curry said.

Ayers was a founder of the Weather Underground, which set off explosives in the U.S. Capitol in 1971 and the Pentagon the next year to protest the Vietnam War. The organization warned people to evacuate the buildings, and no one was injured.

A fact-check story from The Associated Press reported that: "In 1995, Ayers hosted a meet-the-candidate session at his home for Obama as he prepared to run for the state Senate. Later, the two worked with the same charity and social-service organizations in Chicago. Obama's book Dreams was penned in great part by Ayers according to some well respected experts. Obama blurbed Ayers book for him.

"Obama has tried to minimize his link to Ayers, at one point saying he was just a guy who lived in the same neighborhood.

Then there is Rev. Wright, Farrakhan, Pfleger and so many more Marxists and Rezko the slum lord felon who helped Obama score his mansion and donated and bundled 250 grand for Obama. Obama is a stealth liar who will bring this country down should the mesmerized outvote those who took the time to investigate. Obama is death to America and its ally Israel

Tax Cuts for Middle Class Families

Obama's Plan

• A $1,000 Making Work Pay Tax Credit for 95% of Workers. Obama will provide a refundable tax cut of $500 for workers or
$1,000 for working couples.

• Generous Additional Tax Cuts for Middle Class Families. Obama will provide a package of tax cuts to help families afford health care, college and save for retirement.

• Cutting Taxes To Below Where They Were Under President Reagan. Under Obama’s plan total federal taxes for typical families would be 19 percent lower than they were under President Reagan.

McCain's Plan

• Only Middle Class Tax Cut Leaves Out 101 Million Households. McCain’s only direct tax cut for the middle class is an increase in the dependent exemption, which leaves out 101 million households with absolutely no benefit. Overall, the National Review concluded that the McCain plan offers “very little in the way of direct benefits” to the middle class.

• About $125 in Middle Class Tax Relief for Families Who Benefit. For a family with two children, McCain’s proposal to
increase the dependent exemption would offer only about $125 in relief during the first year of his plan.

-----

Tax Rates for Working Families

Obama's Plan

• No Tax Increases for Families Making Under $250,000. Barack Obama has made firm commitment not to raise any taxes for families making under $250,000 (and individuals making under
$200,000).

McCain's Plan

• $3.6 Trillion in Tax Increases on Working Families. McCain’s health plan would require families to pay income taxes on their health benefits. According to McCain top advisors, his health care plan will accordingly be financed by a $3.6 trillion tax increase on working families. Even after taking into account McCain’s health tax credit, eventually tens of millions of middle class families would pay more taxes.

Richard ‘The Proctologist’, says Ronald Regan’s Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) sounds like socialism.

The EITC is the largest poverty reduction program in the United States. Almost 21 million American families received more than $36 billion in refunds through the EITC. These EITC dollars had a significant impact on the lives and communities of the nation’s lowest paid working people, lifting more than 5 million of these families above the federal poverty line.

Is Dick right?
-------------------------------------

Actually, the EITC was enacted by Gerald Ford in 1975. Reagan enhanced in 1984 and McCain voted for it. Reagan called it "the greatest anti-poverty measure ever passed by Congress".

Its a little ironic that this tax credit is getting pinned on Obama in 2008 when its been around for over 30 years and Obama didn't invent it, the Republicans did.

McCain has us right where he wants us.

Everything looks like a military adversary to this old school crank.

He must be having flashbacks about being surrounded by communists. Wouldn't it be a disaster if he became president?

"McCain Miami Rally, Getting Ugly Down Here"

"After the rally, we witnessed a near-street riot involving the exiting McCain crowd and two Cuban-American Obama supporters. Tony Garcia, 63, and Raul Sorando, 31, were suddenly surrounded by an angry mob. There is a moment in a crowd when something goes from mere yelling to a feeling of danger, and that's what we witnessed. As photographers and police raced to the scene, the crowd elevated from stable to fast-moving scrum, and the two men were surrounded on all sides as we raced to the circle.

The event maybe lasted a minute, two at the most, before police competently managed to hustle the two away from the scene and out of the danger zone. Only FiveThirtyEight tracked the two men down for comment, a quarter mile down the street.

"People were screaming 'Terrorist!' 'Communist!' 'Socialist!'" Sorando said when we caught up with him. "I had a guy tell me he was gonna kill me.""

IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS, THE McCAIN/PALIN HATE MACHINE WILL BE WORKING OVERTIME TO SPREADING LIES ABOUT OBAMA…

“MCCAIN VOLUNTEER ADMITS TO HOAX"

"'B' on her cheek, black eye were likely self-inflicted"

Saturday, October 25, 2008
By Michael A. Fuoco, Jerome L. Sherman and Sadie Gurman, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

"Almost from the start, Pittsburgh police were skeptical about a young woman's claim that she had been mugged and a "B" carved into her cheek by an attacker who was provoked by the sight of a John McCain bumper sticker on her car."

"Yesterday, their doubts were confirmed when 20-year-old Ashley Todd, a McCain volunteer from College Station, Texas, admitted that she made the whole thing up.”

WHOLE STORY IN PITTSBURGH POST GAZETTE.COM

With McCain everyday is Halloween.

Fear, sarcasm, prejudice, xenophobia, anything to win. McCain tries to bring out the worst in people, and with some he succeeds.

Those of you not in favor of economic liberalization, must think that protectionism is the wave of the future. Considering economic liberalization is the agenda the Bush administration has been actively pursuing through numerous free trade agreements. Free trade agreements increase the number of markets for U.S. goods to compete in and decrease barriers to competition such as tariffs, to name just a few of the benefits. It also allows the U.S. to exploit its comparative advantage over other nations, allowing U.S. consumers greater access to cheaper goods than could be produced locally.

American's need to be educated about economic terminology. Ask questions, demand answers, and understand the difference political rhetoric and policy.

For Obama to suggest that government interfere in this process more than it already does – to "spread" wealth from Joe to Bill, or vice versa – overlooks not only the voluntary and individual origins of wealth, but the dampening of the incentives for people to contribute energetically to wealth's continued production."

Here is the definition of socialism because it is obvious some of you don't know what it is.
A social system or theory in which the producers possess political power and the means of producing and distributing goods.

Hmm that sounds like Bush and the GOP from 2000- 2006.
Now that's a socialist.

Yep we better watch these socialists...

"But I believe that when you really look at the tax code today, the very wealthy, because they can afford tax lawyers and all kinds of loopholes, really don't pay nearly as much as you think they do when you just look at the percentages. And I think middle-income Americans, working Americans, when the account and payroll taxes, sales taxes, mortgage pay -- all of the taxes that working Americans pay, I think they -- you would think that they also deserve significant relief, in my view..."

"So, look, here's what I really believe, that when you are -- reach a certain level of comfort, there's nothing wrong with paying somewhat more. But at the same time, that shouldn't be totally out of proportion. There's some countries such as Sweden where it doesn't pay anything to work more than six months a year. That's probably the extreme.

But I think the debate in this country is more about tax cuts rather than anything else. And frankly, I think the first people who deserve a tax cut are working Americans with children that need to educate their children, and they're the ones that I would support tax cuts for first."

From today's news:
Donald J. Boudreaux is professor of economics at George Mason University. He is the author of "Globalization."
Quote:
"This "socialism-lite," however, is as specious as is classic socialism. And its insidious nature makes it even more dangerous. Across Europe, this "mild" form of socialism acts as a parasitic ideology that has slowly drained entrepreneurial energy – and freedoms – from its free-market host.

Could it happen in America? Consider the words of longtime Socialist Party of America presidential candidate Norman Thomas: "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened." In addition to Medicare, Social Security, and other entitlement programs, the gathering political momentum toward single-payer healthcare – which Obama has proclaimed is his ultimate goal – shows the prescience of Thomas's words.

The fact that each of us depends upon the efforts of millions of others does not mean that some "society" transcending individuals produces our prosperity. Rather, it means that the vast system of voluntary market exchange coordinates remarkably well the efforts of millions of individuals into a productive whole. For Obama to suggest that government interfere in this process more than it already does – to "spread" wealth from Joe to Bill, or vice versa – overlooks not only the voluntary and individual origins of wealth, but the dampening of the incentives for people to contribute energetically to wealth's continued production."

Not sure why you are upset about ACORN as the have McCain's committed support.

ACORN in ohio and many states is known to Obama has made no effofr to condemn this pratice

Obama has continually minimized his connection to the "Former Terrorist" (if that's possible) Bill Ayers refusing to discuss it.

This is cause for concern because Bill Ayers is now teaching our youth?

Obama in 1966 had full MARXIST funding for more than a 'few" years. In a book Obama revealed that in his college years he preferred communist/socialist ties.

Obama has made full use of our lobby system to futher his career to the present he has 47 lobbyists and counting.

While willing to deprive WE THE PEOPLE of our rights. Which incidentally, is the primary means our Nation uses to protect the publics needs and SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE without privatizing and without reduction of services.

The Democratic agenda wants socialized medicine which has no plus side and never will. It only grants the medical community the right to not care if someone dies while waiting for treatment.

In the New Hampshire campaigning Obama interrupted his campaigning long enough to talk on the phone with his half-brother Abongo Obama whom happens to be a follower of his cousin Raila Odinga.

whom is Raila Odinga? Obama cousin odinga in 2007 created mass violence attempting to thwart a legitimate election. The current government is Pro-American but Odinga wants to make it Muslim Sharia law.

Obama before elections started here in the USA supported his cousin.

After Reading the light hearted manner in which Obama in this Washington Post interview seems to make of his connections to Communism and Socialistic agenda.

We would like to have more pointed questions raised by the media to keep us informed so that we can make use of the information to place a proper vote. don't you think so too. We would like to hear rebuttals, debates anything on these topics. please

Wow, moostream1 in 1966 Obama was what, 6 years old. That was the most pathetic, lie-packed piece of drivel I have read in a long time.

Read the statement from Palin again. That is not Socialism, it is Communism.

Also, to really tick the wingnuts off, Jesus and the Apostles lived together, shared the work, shared the food, and shared all of their wealth. That is the exact definition of Communism. So either you wingnuts hate Jesus, or you love a Communist, which is it.

It seems Obama failed to mention that in 1966 for more than a "few" years Obama was funded by the Marxist party a matter of public record. To the present he has the backing of the Socialist party.

During his college years Obama preferred the backing of the socialit/communist and got it.

Obama has no problem with using our freedom to lobby as he has 47 lobbyists of his own and counting, to further him and his carreer.

While seeking to deprive WE THE PEOPLE of this nation our FREEDOM which incidently, is the primary avenue our nation uses to seek protection for our needs and SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE without reduction of services without privatizing.

Obama wants to socialize medicine, which has no plus side to it. It simply grants the medical community the right to not care if someone dies while waiting.

Now reader's have taken note they will notice that in the same year that Bill Ayers is helping Obama get his political career off the ground he is publicly (in an interview) telling everyone that he is:

"I am a radical, Leftist, small 'c' communist ... [Laughs] Maybe I'm the last communist who is willing to admit it…”

There is absolutely no way that Obama would not have known Bill Ayers political ideology. There is absolutely no way that Bill Ayers would have helped start Obama’s political career had Obama been in disagreement with that ideology!

ACORN has been known and shown in many states to have illegally registered voters and just recently has been caught illegally voting in Ohio. Obama doesn't condemn the practice.
Bill Ayers "Former Terrorist" (if that's possible) Obama wants to minimalize or refuses to confront it.

This worries me on two fronts, A-We have seen Obama lie straight faced and he is good at it, and 2 Bill Ayers is now teaching our youth?

We would like to know more about this issues before we as a Nation get to the voting polls to refute and address these topics.

OMG! McCain Is A Socialist!

The YouTube don't lie, my friends:

OMG! Oh No! Palin Is A Socialist Too!

Socialism? Is that all McCain's got left? Can someone PLEASE shout out to him at his next rally:

I wonder what the next McCain campaign stunt will be?

So far we've had:
-----------------------

- Ashley the Fraud

- Joe the pretend Plumber

- OMG! Bill Ayers!

- Drill, baby, drill

- Sarah the Crazy VP pick

- Socialism!!!

People seem not to be aware that the progressive, graduated, income tax that taxes the wealthy at a higher rate than the middle-class was first pushed by that old Bolshevik, Teddy Roosevelt (McCain’s political hero), who specifically advocated it with the purpose of redistributing the wealth from the very wealthy to the rest of society. The tax was first implemented by another Red Menace leader, Woodrow Wilson, who also liked to spout Commie ideas like spreading freedom and democracy.

The socialist idea of giving tax refunds to working people who don’t pay income taxes (but do pay payroll, i.e. social security, taxes), the so-called Earned Income Credit, was started much later by that radical pinko agitator, Ronald Reagan. And guess who voted for it, That’s right, John McCain in his old socialist days. He kept up his leftist voting right up to the 2001 and 2002 when he voted against Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy, complaining about “fairness,” another socialist idea.

But that was then, this is now. Now McCain is fully on board with the Bush/GOP platform of Government of the wealthy, by the wealthy, for the wealthy. Socialist no more.

Obama is inspirational

I like the fact that the Republican Reich-Wing dislikes him so much (though I don't understand why).
