Axelrod: Obama TV Show to Focus on 'Where He Wants to Lead'

By Robert Barnes
NORFOLK -- Barack Obama's 30-minute informercial airing Wednesday night will feature vignettes of people and families whom Obama has met during his nearly two-year campaign, and it will include a live component from a campaign rally in Florida, campaign sources said tonight.

"Barack Obama: American Stories" is the name of the unusual telecast that will air on network television and some cable stations. It comes on a busy day, as Obama also is set to appear on "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" and to cap the night with another rally, in Orlando, with former President Bill Clinton, timed to make the late-night news broadcasts in the Eastern and Central time zones.

Obama's show will air at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time (7 p.m. Central and Mountain time) on CBS, Fox and NBC as well as cable networks such as BET and MSNBC. He will also air a Spanish-language version of the program on Univision, the highest-rated Spanish-language network.

Obama has said in local television interviews that family stories will be featured, and Miami Mayor Manny Diaz (D) told reporters that the show "is going to highlight real American stories from across the nation."

Obama senior adviser David Axelrod did not want to discuss specifics about the broadcast, but said that there is "so much clutter on the air" that doing something novel "gives us a better chance to be heard."

"He'll be able to give greater details about where he wants to lead," Axelrod said.

The show will offer "one more chance to be heard" as voters make up their minds, which is likely to happen before the weekend, he said. Obama is also scheduled to begin airing two-minute commercials on the economy, another chance to reach out to voters in slightly greater detail than typical political ads offer.

Razor

this is for you.

During the 1990s, while he served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), McCain distributed several grants to the Palestinian research center co-founded by Khalidi, including one worth half a million dollars.
A 1998 tax filing for the McCain-led group shows a $448,873 grant to Khalidi's Center for Palestine Research and Studies for work in the West Bank. The relationship extends back as far as 1993, when John McCain joined IRI as chairman in January. Foreign Affairs noted in September of that year that IRI had helped fund several extensive studies in Palestine run by Khalidi's group, including over 30 public opinion polls and a study of "sociopolitical attitudes."

flavio, this is for you. You can make negative remarks about me, you can make negative remarks about my brothers in arms, who are serving our great nation overseas and at home.

You have the right to do so. I don't agree with you and you have that right. You have that right because we are making sure you have that right and we will never let you and other Americans down one iota because we are laying our lives on the line every minute so that people like you can give your opinion online and in freedom of speech in person without fear of being repressed.

We love America but we don't love Obama. John McCain loves America. We can't say that about Barry Soetoro from Indonesia, aka Barack Obama.

RSaundersPA, Congratulations about your daughter and the most respect is given to her and her opinion. Every person has their right to their own opinion, same as we have.

WE are overwhelmingly NOT supporting Obama because of his left wing backers and his left wing stance, which goes against the very fabric of everything America is based upon.

The enemies of America have bragged for decades that they will destroy us from within without firing a shot and Obama is that pawn being used. He is that instrument. It is not a fear tactic but a true statement based upon facts. Obama cannot hide his past nor his association with known radical terrorists and Communist Party USA members.

sonnychiba72 spewed: "The Third Movement"

"The Third Reich Movement" more like.

You are so "Right-Wing" that if you were anymore right you'd traverse into another dimension.

------------

McCain and the "VICTORY" shame game

McCain and the Republicans bring dishonor to our troops by applying the "Victory/Defeat" label to Iraq.

Our troops have followed their orders and have served with honor and dignity in Iraq. To add this polarizing label is to add the burden of shame to the backs of troops that already have suffered enough. As a Vietnam vet, McCain should know what the vets of that era went through when they came home and were labeled losers.

General Patraeus himself said he'd "Never Declare Victory" in this interview on 9/11/08 of all days!

McCain is wrong and just doesn't get it-- he should be ashamed.

Save our Country and Constitution from the Republican Reich

VOTE OBAMA Nov 4

sonnychiba72, you are mistaken if you think that Sen. McCain will have overwhelming support from the military. My daughter is serving at this time and tells me that a majority of the young military people she talks with are supporting Sen. Obama. She is a graduate of a service academy, an officer, a pilot and is now in the Persian Gulf area flying missions.

I look forward to this production, and think BO will have the opportunity to present himself and his ideas very clearly with that amount of air time.

The Third Movement. We are neither Democrat or Republican. We are The Third Movement.
The liberal media can push Obama down the throats of Americans all they want but it doesn't mean all are buying their product. We aren't buying it.

The many patriotic members of our proud US Military and their family members have been forgotten in this election but we have not forgotten Obama. We know that Obama has already sold us out and he will sell us out again in the future. Our voice cannot be counted in the polls but our vote will be counted on November 4th.

We have bled, we have died on the battle fields of Iraq, in Afghanistan and in other places around the world in this Century alone. Obama wants us to lay our arms down and give up what thousands of us have died for but it won't happen.

Obama, Pelosi, and Reid will try to make the defending of our Constituition of none effect by changing it to suit their Party agenda.

From Bunker Hill to the Alamo, from Gettysburg to San Juan, from Somme to Iwo Jima, from the Inchon Peninsula to the Mekong Delta, from Lebanon to Kuwait, from Baghdag to Kabul, WE have defended America and our Constitution. On November 4th, we will continue to defend it. Many of us have already voted from abroad.

From Pearl Harbor to Bremerton, from San Diego to Lackland, from Barksdale to Jacksonville, from Norfolk to Camp Lejuene, from Quntico to Newport, from New London to Great Lakes, from Fort Riley to Presidio, we will not stand down but we stand shoulder to shoulder in this election.

We have voted for or we will vote John McCain for the preservation of the United States of America.

I have friends from all over the world. Palestinians, Arabs, English, Japanese. Since when are we a fascist state that we cannot mingle with students from many parts of the world? Shame on ignorant America and all those who complain but are not fighting in Iraq or Afganistan, you Chicken Hawks!

The downfall of the GOP is their own lying, greed and thievery! No one would want Zealots taking over the government. It's against the Constitution and Republicans know that. Their attempt to impose religion in government is doing more harm to the Constitution then Obama ever could.

They won't be completely satisified with Political control and next thing you know they'll decide Jews, Buddists, etc... need to convert or else.....? History has taught intolerance of other people's values and beliefs lead to Hitler's extermination of 6 million Jews, and 20 million Native Americans by religious Christian nuts. Early settlers in the East and Jews arriving in the Caribbean were escaping religious persecution by both England and Spain respectively; And let's not forget the 20 million Native American Holocaust & forced Christian conversion of the survivors. Those talking points of theirs are the reminders of the early signs that lead to the death of millions of souls. Everyone knows more people have been killed in the name of God vs Peace & Freedom. The Republicans of today are using & blinding the faithful in order to feed their greed for money and these people are too deep in religion to see it. As they say, "The devil works in mysterious ways."

History cannot be repeated.

The utter lies that the Gop spew are amazing. Have we forgotten about our last 2 elections. Plus Mr. McCain has connections to some of these friends you guys talk about. John McCain joined International Republican Institute (IRI) as chairman in January. Foreign Affairs noted in September of that year that IRI had helped fund several extensive studies in Palestine run by Rashid Khalidi's group, including over 30 public opinion polls and a study of "sociopolitical attitudes."

LonewakcoDotCom,

Yeah, GWB had such a remarkable life...born into wealth and power a drunk, a coke addict, a whuss draft dodger, a Yale cheerleader, a failed executive of multiple companies...I guess that's the track record that the Republicans look for in a leader.

Most of the country sees the landslide election victory itself as a great coming together of the people of the United States. Those who continue to demean both the candidate and the phenomena must prepare themselves for electoral defeat and ask themselves whether they believe in democracy enough to step aside.

One of the hallmarks of democracy is the acceptance of election results.

I want to hear what he plans on doing. I think both candidates would have been wise to have spent their money this way instead of the 30 second spots that don't say a thing about the candidates position. We deserve more than listening to smear-smear-smear. .

Will the special include BHO's bus? You know, the one with all his former associates and close friends and collaborators under it?

Let's all contribute to the list of people who BHO has met during his otherwise unremarkable life.

I'll start:

Bill Ayers.
