McCain's 'Idol' Make-Up Artist Stays on the Books

By Mary Ann Akers
Remember last month when Republican presidential nominee John McCain got made up by the American Idol make-up artist?

Well, it wasn't a one-shot deal. The make-up artist to the wannabe-stars is getting paid beaucoup bucks to make McCain, 72, more telegenic.

Tifanie White, who reportedly has done makeup for the shows "So You Think You Can Dance" and "American Idol," was paid a total of $8,672.55 in September by the McCain-Palin campaign, according to the campaign's latest monthly financial report filed this week with the Federal Election Commission. She was paid $5,583.43 the previous month, records show.

More great journalism from the Washington Post!

If they were talking about Obama, Mark, you'd be first in line to condemn him for his vanity and talk about how "out-of-touch" he is, a la John Edwards and his $400 haircuts (which are starting to look pretty reasonable).

It must take a LOT of makeup and time to make that angry trollop McCain look halfway human for his appearances in public.

Johnny McCrankypants should be paying her about a million per makeup session...because lord knows, he can afford it.

Is it just me, or is it really hard to get a good look at Palin and see what she really looks like?

Making "McCain, 72, more telegenic" is apparently an expensive proposition. I'm going to check on MarkInAustin's indignation in the comments to the endless parade of Edwards haircut stories, I'll be right back.

Fair Game!

Cheney went after John Edwards hair in 2004.

Ya see! Republicans reep what they sow too.

Seriously, is the Washington Post going to cover ACTUAL NEWS this election? Or, can we breathlessly await what TV show Obama watches or who does his make-up too?
