McCain's Double-Barreled NoVa Radio Spot

By Matthew Mosk
Sen. John McCain has come up with a novel way to make sure a radio ad attacking Sen. Barack Obama won't leave listeners with a negative impression of him -- put some distance between the attack and his announcement approving the message.

A 60-second radio ad airing on the Washington-area news station WTOP, presumably aimed at Northern Virginia listers, starts out with a female narrator asking the question, "Who is Barack Obama?" The narrator then says that Obama has been using "your tax dollars to reward his friends."

"That's your money Obama's using," she says. "That's unethical."

There is a pause and the ad abruptly switches to a man's voice. It sounds as if one commercial has finished, and another has begun. In this new segment, the male narrator focuses on Congress, and lays out the accusation that "liberals promise higher taxes on American families."

The double-barreled format has two benefits. The first is that McCain's campaign can split the cost with the Republican National Committee, because by mentioning both the presidential race and Congress it can be classified as a so-called "hybrid ad." The second benefit is that only a careful listener will connect the dots between the initial 30-second attack ad and McCain's voice, which enters 27 seconds after the attack ends, to announce that he approved the message.

I seldom find a comment with which I can fully concur. I just saw one. To the person who responded to the question as to whom they would be voting, the answer was that it was a no-brainer, John McCain. Precisely! That is exactly what it takes to vote for McCain.....no brain.

Question: How do you tell who are the trolls and wackos on these blogs?

Answer: Easy! They are the ones who post the copy and pasted text on all of them regardless of if the posts are relevant to the topic or discussion or not.

In fact, you will probably find exactly the same posts by them on other non-WP blogs. Their theory being if they post it enough it will come true. Kind of like "prayer warriors", but in this case post warriors. The concept is identical though.

Congress mulls major 401(k) changes
By Sara Hansard
October 7, 2008, 5:18 PM EST Post a Comment Recommend (252)

A wide range of sweeping changes to the 401(k) system were proposed Tuesday at a hearing on how the market crisis has devastated retirement savings plans.
Chief among them was eliminating $80 billion in tax savings for people enrolled in 401(k) retirement savings plans.

This was suggested by the chairman of the House Committee on Education and Labor.

“With respect to the 401(k), it appears to be a plan that is not really well-devised for the changes in the market,” Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., said.

“We’ve invested $80 billion into subsidizing this activity,” he said, referring to tax breaks allowed for 401(k) contributions and savings.

With savings rates going down, “what do we have to start to think about in Congress of whether or not we want to continue and invest that $80 billion for a policy that is not generating what we … say it should?” Mr. Miller said.

Congress should let workers trade their 401(k) assets for guaranteed retirement accounts made up of government bonds, suggested Teresa Ghilarducci, an economics professor at The New School for Social Research in New York.

When workers collected Social Security, the guaranteed retirement account would pay an inflation-adjusted annuity under her plan.

“The way the government now encourages 401(k) plans is to spend $80 billion in tax breaks,” which goes to the highest-income earners, Ms. Ghilarducci said.

That simply results in transferring money from taxed savings accounts to untaxed accounts, she said.

“If we implement automatic [individual retirement accounts] or if we expand the 401(k) system, all we’re doing is adding to this inefficiency,” Ms. Ghilarducci said.

Rep. Robert Andrews, D-N.J., raised the issue of which investment advisers are allowed to offer workers investment advice.

The Department of Labor is considering “loopholes” that would allow advisers to offer “conflicted investment advice if the advisers work for subsidiaries of financial services companies that sell the investments,” he said.

With American workers facing $2 trillion in losses from retirement plans over the past year and Democrats expected to gain seats in the House and the Senate, actions being contemplated by the committee are an important harbinger of what could come out of Congress next year.

(Wonder if a Democratic Congress and White House could get this done? Can't do much about the former, But Can about the latter. Same plan was pushed through in Argentina!)

Democrats Planning to Tax Our 401K's?- No Wonder Obama dropping with those making 30k-75k/year!

Polltrack.com today-

If we drop out the Zogby survey--polling that has been erratic and out of sync with most other organizations--Obama's lead drops to 4.2%, 48.8% to 44.6%. Odder still, are the results of the IBD/TIPP daily tracking poll (worthy of notice, because TIPP was the most accurate pollster in 2004, predicting the outcome within a fraction of a percentage point): they show the race virtually dead even nationally. IBD/TIPP writes: "McCain has cut into Obama's lead for a second day and is now just 1.1 points behind. The spread was 3.7 Wednesday and 6.0 Tuesday. The Republican is making headway with middle- and working- class voters, and has surged 10 points in two days among those earning between $30,000 and $75,000. He has also gone from an 11-point deficit to a 9-point lead among Catholics."

HEY MCCAIN, YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT RISKY IS?

It's when a warmongering old nut like you starts babbling about about staying in Iraq for 100 years and then starts singing about how fun it would be to bomb Iran off the face of the earth.
.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nqtL-P8kzo
.

YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT ELSE IS RISKY, MCCAIN?

It's risky when you pick a half cocked rightwing lunitic fringe nut (Palin) as your running-mate.

Palin: "I Don't Know If Abortion Clinic Bombers Are Terrorists":

The buffoonish nature of Sarah Palin's vice presidential candidacy has mostly been a disaster for the McCain-Palin campaign, but it is has delivered at least one benefit: her foibles have helped obscure the true nature of her right-wing extremism.

But now, Palin's self-destructive behavior is threatening to expose even that. In an interview broadcast yesterday on NBC Nightly News, Brian Williams asked Palin whether she felt abortion clinic bombers were terrorists.

Amazingly, she said that she didn't know:

WILLIAMS: Is an abortion clinic bomber a terrorist under this definition?

PALIN: "I don’t know if you’re going to use the word ‘terrorist’ there," she said.
.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hu1NeI4M1k
.

Palin's answer is perhaps the single most incredible thing I've heard from any candidate during this entire general election campaign, and I don't make that statement lightly.

What makes it so incredible is that Sarah Palin was responding to one of the easiest questions that has been posed during this entire campaign. Her answer should have been simple: of course they are terrorists.

Instead, Palin balked, saying that while bombings were unacceptable, she didn't know if they were acts of terrorism. Palin's answer was an obvious wink and a nod to right wing nut job extremists, with whom she shares radical views, including opposition to reproductive freedom even in cases of rape or incest and advovacy of protests designed to disrupt access to abortion clinics.

This was not a question to which "I don't know" was an acceptable answer. There is no excuse for it, and it puts Sarah Palin well on the margins of this nation's political spectrum.

Joe the Unlicenced Plumber will give informercials on how to.....

Snake a toilet with a common garden hose
Remove a bathtub and install a shower
Install a Waterheater and piping
Remove trapped food from your dishwasher
Repair a septic tank
Replace a Kitchen Sink
Back-Siphion a drain
Replace a broken cistern
Redirect and repair a down pipe
Re-regulate your pressure system

...all ways to save we Americans from paying a $250,000 dollar a year plumber from coming to your house..

And did I mention that McCaint was going to give Joe Wurzelbacker the Unlicenced Plumber a tax credit for his commercials???

All you neo-con bloggers just can't get a break these days.

Their candidate lost the last and final presidential debate, receiving a sound thumping from Obama, but the embarrassment doesn't stop there.

It turns out the new right wing poster child is just another right wing faux controversy, as transparent as the rest of the lies they're telling these days.

Some interesting facts (which still need to be verified) about Joe the Plumber are starting to surface:

Joe the Plumber isn't registered to vote.

Joe the Plumber doesn't make $250,000. Not only will Joe the Plumber not see his taxes rise under the Obama tax plan, he'll get a tax cut.

Joe the Plumber's Dad is a big-time Republican donor.

Joe the Plumber isn't licensed. He says he doesn't need a license since he works for a residential plumbing contractor who is licensed.

So when Joe was talking this morning about the new jobs that he hopes come in a result of his new found celebrity status, he was talking about working without a license?

And Joe "freelances", as many tradespeople do, and perhaps even gets paid under the table.

Hmmmmmm...can anyone say "AUDIT"

Since he doesn't have a license, it doesn't sound like he's all that serious about establishing his own business.

McCaint in last night's debate: "Joe, you're rich, congratulations!" McCaint complains that Obama wants to raise the taxes for Joe the Plumber, but Joe the Plumber makes far less than the $250,000 that would put him in a higher tax bracket under the Obama plan.

Joe the Plumber will actually get a tax cut under Obama's plan.

............Priceless!

So you're not rich yet, Joe, but you'll be doing a lot better under Obama's tax plan than you will under McCaint's...

And Joe the Plumber won't be fined for Health Care as McCaint lied stated in that FINAL debate after all.

When McCaint was railing about how unfair Obama's tax plan was to "Joe the Plumber" it was just more Republican crapola.

What a surprise.

Thanks but no thanks to Joe and the lies that take America nowhere.....

PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE REVIEW EDITORIAL-
The Race for President: King Obama
Tuesday, October 21, 2008

Crude oil prices rise and gasoline prices quickly follow suit. But when the price of crude drops, gas prices seldom seem to fall in any like proportion. As with gas and oil, so with liberal Big Media and the presidential polls.

Democrat Barack Obama, long measuring for White House drapes, was elevated to something exceeding messiah status among the major newspapers and TV networks when polls suggested his lead over Republican John McCain had surged into the political ionosphere.

That double-digit lead was all the confirmation required that the election essentially was over. But a funny thing happened along the route to King Obama's coronation: More recent polls have suggested the race has tightened; some even point to a statistical dead heat.

story continues below

But those numbers certainly haven't received the same coverage as ones that suggested a President Obama was a foregone conclusion. Even Sen. Obama now is worrying about the risk of a "carried away" media being the precursor to his being "spanked" on Nov. 4.

Voters supposedly elect presidents. But this election cycle, it seems Big Media and its liberal enablers are hellbent on taking over that function. Just as that passenger-side mirror cautions how objects are closer than they appear, Sen. McCain is closer to Obama than Big Media are reflecting.

And such a distortion isn't very becoming of one of the great pillars of such a grand republic.

First: out of couriosity, and my love of old Hong Kong Kung Fu movies, are you THE Sonny Chiba.??

Now, on to your concerns. I have seen this item brought up numerous times in this newspaper. I keep asking myself why, when we have an FBI, CIA and Secret Service, state and local law enforcement, have theses agencies taken up this investigation.

There is only one answer to that question. Those agencies already have investigated the question and know there isn't an issue there at all.

Now please tell me that you have at least made inquiries to those agencies to elicit their findings?

I know why you haven't! You would have to stop making this arguement because you would then know it is pointless, except to make noise.

P.S. are you still making Kung Fu flicks?

From Cannonfire:

By this point, everyone outside Kossack faithful must admit that Obama has given rise to a Mao-like cult of personality. He has never done anything to rein in these Messianic illusions -- in fact, he has fostered them. That attitude gives him indirect responsibility for the violence committed and threatened by his followers.

I've received death threats, and so have many others. Such is the political climate engineered by Barack Obama. Is anyone surprised that the threats have finally given way to fired shots and physical assaults?

I can only wonder what the future holds. Obama reversed himself on FISA, which means that he wants the power to tap the phones of all opponents. In Missouri, the Obama movement used Sheriffs and prosecutors to put together a "truth squad" to intimidate critics of Barack Obama. Obama makes no secret of his desire to erect a massive "civilian security force." And the RAND Corporation was tasked with considering the best ways to implement a new domestic intelligence agency.

Posted by: thejaner | October 24, 2008 1:37 AM | Report abuse

Who is Barack Obama is the real question. Andy Martin held a press conference in Hawaii today and his long international investigation concludes that Barack Obama is not who he says he is. He is the son of Frank Marshall Davis.

Martin's "Hawaii Fiv-O" team has been in Hawaii recently uncovering the real Obama, aka Frank Marshall Davis, Jr. Now it is clear as to why Obama refuses to release his original birth certificate.

Obama took off two days to go to Hawaii, supposedly to visit his ailing Grandmother, who had broken her hip and was sent home from the hospital. Why did Obama go there alone? Why did he not take his wife and his children with him to visit his grandmother. That is a major red flag. He is going to try and get some stories straight, no doubt.

Barack Obama/Frank Marshall Davis, Jr. has some explaining to do to the American people!

What this really shows is that one of McCain's few legislative achievements, the McCain Feingold Act. is really a sham. McCain was able to work the language to benefit the Republican party, by permitting paties to augment the otherwise limited Presidential campaigns.

Under this perfectly legal scheme, McCain has available to him virtually the same amount of money as Obama has raised by forgoing public financing. But if a Democratic Presidential candidate were to rely on the law, he/she is at an instant disadvantage. The RNC rakes in $68,000 contributions from fatcats like Sumner Redstone and Rupert Murdoch. The DNC has fatcats, too, but , unfortunately, it still relies on a lot of $100 contributors -- and traditionally has far less funds at its disposal.

DIDN'T THE BIBLE ALSO PORTEND 'THE HANDWRITING ON THE WALL'...

OMG! Even the paid disinfo trolls have gone all bitter and sullen and morose!

You see, in America, constitutional democracy does rule. The vox pop won't even give you the couple of weeks you need to accomplish your dirty tricks and attempt to cover your tracks.

The good people on the inside, the true patriots who honor the Constitution, know the deal. They're not going to let your "End of Days '08" schemes decide this election.

Better clean up your house right this minute, you who wield the DEW (unititiates, look it up) and the bureaucratic programs of personal destruction and the remote computing software hacks... it's not going work. Not this time, not this year.

And if you're still tempted to go all extreme, just remember... they're on to you and they're not going to let you get away with it.

The GOP has only one remaining strategy: voter suppression.

Co-founder of the Conservative Heritage Foundation, Paul Weyrich, in 1980 said the following:

"Elections are not won by the majority of the people. They never have been from the beginning of our country and they are not now.

"As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections, quite candidly, goes up, as the voting populace goes down."

Watch the video of it and contrast it to recent efforts from the GOP, to attempt to hold down the vote, and their strategy all starts to make sense.

There is a reason McCain is not running on policy. He knows he has the minority position. He is aware that if he talks about policy, he will lose.

For the video (to view and share), and their strategy spelled out, go to:

Let me get it straight: Sen. Obama is against Bush Administration and President Bush (check), against War in Iraq (check), against 8 years of Bush policies (check). Gen. Gen. Colin Powell endorsed Sen. Obama for the President of the USA and Sen. Obama accepted it not only without hesitation but with happiness. Does it mean that Sen.
