Obama Buys Primetime Slots on CBS and NBC

By Paul Farhi
Barack Obama is going primetime in a big way.

In a break with recent campaign ad tradition, Obama's campaign said it has purchased a half-hour of airtime on CBS and NBC for a primetime political infomercial on Oct. 29. Obama's campaign is also reportedly looking to make similar half-hour buys on other broadcast networks.

The network buys -- which could cost the Obama campaign around $2 million each -- demonstrate Obama's massive fundraising advantage over his Republican rival, Sen. John McCain. Obama has been outspending McCain by a wide margin, sometimes by as much as 3-to-1, in almost all of the 14 states where the election is still considered competitive.

Coming just six days before the election, Obama's primetime ad may put pressure on McCain to respond with a similar national message, said Darrell West, a Brookings Institution scholar who is the author of "Air Wars: Television Advertising in Election Campaigns 1952-2004."

However, McCain's resources are limited; he agreed to accept federal matching funds that limit his campaign to $84 million in September and October. Although McCain is getting a boost from the Republican National Committee, his campaign has already stopped advertising in Michigan to conserve funds.

For the past few presidential campaigns, the major-party candidates have avoided national advertising and instead concentrated their commercials in battleground states, said Evan Tracey, who heads the Campaign Media Analysis Group of Arlington. The strategy reflected the idea that national ads were both expensive and inefficient because there were relatively few "swing" voters left to convince in most parts of the country.

But both Obama and McCain have run national ads during this campaign, most notably during NBC's telecast of the Summer Olympics. They have also bought airtime on the networks' nightly newscasts.

Obama may be looking to boost not only his own candidacy through his CBS buy, but those of Democratic senatorial candidates, said West. Democrats, who now hold 51 seats (including two independents), are seeking a filibuster-proof majority of 60 seats in the Senate.

"When you have cash, anything is possible," said West. Obama "is not in a situation where he has to make resource trade-offs."

This is creepy...I feel like the nitwits in this country are going to elect Hugo Chavez. They don't seem very different in their tactics to me. Why doesn't he just take over all the networks and call it "Obama Nation". I hope people wake up real soon.

Thank God, Barack Obama doesn't have to depend on "bailout" for campaign funding!

Yes, it's a shame when people think the meanings of words actually matter, especially when you base your case against a candidate by asserting those words describe him while using them incorrectly. I repeat: the people who use words like fascist, socialist and communist are almost always people with no idea what those words actually mean.

Got to love that WSJ column:

"To kick off our show tonight, Mr. Obama will give 95% of American working families a tax cut, even though 40% of Americans today don't pay income taxes!"

Any fool could have realized he meant working people who pay income taxes - and apparently, Ms. Strassel hasn't figured out that some families have spouses, grown children etc. with no income, which inflates that figure. But hey, why keep things in perspective?

"It involves the federal government taking money from those who do pay taxes, and writing checks to those who don't. Yes, yes, in the real world this is known as "welfare," but please try not to ruin the show."
I see - kind of like when GOP'ers give oil companies subsidies er, 'tax credits'. But why get outraged until the people receiving the money need it?

"For his next trick, the Great Obama will jumpstart the economy, and he'll do it by raising taxes on the very businesses that are today adrift in a financial tsunami! That will include all those among the top 1% of taxpayers who are in fact small-business owners, and the nation's biggest employers who currently pay some of the highest corporate tax rates in the developed world."

While Obama might raise corporate tax rates, don't expect the sky to fall, especially since the companies will save money on cheaper health care. The companies ought to pay their share and that won't cause them to fold. It hasn't anywhere else. And actually, the top 1% of earners don't tend to be people who own small businesses, unless your idea of a small business owner is someone who owns dozens of different stores or office sets. And by the way, US companies don't pay some of the highest corporate taxes in the developed world. Get your facts together, you yammering ninny.

"Mr. Obama will now demonstrate how he gives Americans the "choice" of a "voluntary" government health plan, designed in such a way as to crowd out the private market and eliminate all other choice! Don't worry people: You won't have to join, until you do. Mr. Obama will follow this with a demonstration of how his plan will differ from our failing Medicare program."

Actually, the plan would offer the public civil service plan to compete with private plans. This would force MORE competition, since the government's edge in administration expenses (1-2% of revenues to 20-30% for health insurance companies) would force the companies to cut costs and offer more benefits, a la private Medicare options. You know, the Medicare program that helps the elderly pay for operations and was doing fine until the GOP let health costs spiral without any action. Plus, Obama's plan actually is voluntary. But that would let facts get in the way of your column.

"He will create that enormous new government health program, spend billions to transform our energy economy, provide financial assistance to former Soviet satellites, invest in infrastructure, increase education spending, provide job training assistance, and give 95% of Americans a tax (ahem) cut -- all without raising the deficit a single penny!"
Well, it is possible to start programs without raising taxes on most if you get the rich (still richer than they used to be, even now) to actually pay progressive taxes. Yes, Obama promised more than he can deliver...but didn't McCain also do that when he promised to cut taxes and also take care of that pesky deficit?

"And for tonight's finale, the Great Obama will uphold America's "moral" obligation to "stop genocide" by abandoning Iraq! While teleported to the region, he will simultaneously convince Iranian leaders to peacefully abandon their nuclear pursuits (even as he does not sit down with them), fix Afghanistan with a strategy that does not resemble the Iraqi surge, and (drumroll!) pull Osama bin Laden out of his hat!"

In reality, Obama plans to do the sensible thing - start drawing down troops while, as he put it, 'keeping a residual force for training and select purposes.' Never mind that this is a moderate course, as a real leftist solution would be to pull them all out in the first month; Ms. Strassel doesn't let small details like that interrupt a profoundly cheesy column. Obama also did not promise to magically fix the Iran situation, but to pragmatically actually keep diplomacy a part. What a terrible idea that is. And Obama actually supports more troops in Afghanistan, for the record. He decried a surge in Iraq, not somewhere completely different. I don't even agree with him on the surge, but I recognize that Iran and Afghanistan are two different countries.

Yes, Obama indeed flip-flopped on free trade. But the column as a whole was riddled with errors, especially on economic policies - what happened to the economics sense the Wall Street Journal is known for? And if you try a thematic column like an announcer for a magic show, you need to be funny, clever and accurate. Ms. Strassel was none of those things, and thus her column epitomizes cheesiness to a degree not seen since the last Packers game. I expect to read such tripe if I'm stupid enough to read a Weekly Standard article, but I would have thought the Wall Street Journal had higher standards.

I just can't wait. If Obama gets a fillabuster proof majority in the Congress it will be absolute power and we saw what that did with the Republicans. Do we really want to go down that road again. Let's give Obama the change he is looking for and throw some of the scoundrels out that were tied to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. That would be real change and that would shake up and upset the old apple cart for him. Then let us watch him work in a bipartisan manner. This is what he said he could do and would do. Let us see him follow through on his own.

"Lawsuit over Palin's e-mails gets under way today

ISSUE: Private e-mails on state business need to be public, ex-state worker says."

"A lawsuit aimed at forcing Gov. Sarah Palin to preserve any private e-mails she wrote involving state business hits the courtroom today.

Former state employee Andree McLeod filed the suit a week ago. The goal, she said, is to make Palin retrieve e-mails from her private accounts that involve state business and make them part of the state's public records.

McLeod has filed a records request for the e-mails and other records. The lawsuit also calls on Palin to stop using private accounts for state business, she said.

Palin spokeswoman Sharon Leighow said Thursday she can't comment on pending litigation.

A hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. today in Anchorage Superior Court."

"Palin’s Kind of Patriotism"

"Criticizing Sarah Palin is truly shooting fish in a barrel. But given the huge attention she is getting, you can’t just ignore what she has to say. And there was one thing she said in the debate with Joe Biden that really sticks in my craw. It was when she turned to Biden and declared: “You said recently that higher taxes or asking for higher taxes or paying higher taxes is patriotic. In the middle class of America, which is where Todd and I have been all of our lives, that’s not patriotic.”

What an awful statement. Palin defended the government’s $700 billion rescue plan. She defended the surge in Iraq, where her own son is now serving. She defended sending more troops to Afghanistan. And yet, at the same time, she declared that Americans who pay their fair share of taxes to support all those government-led endeavors should not be considered patriotic.

I only wish she had been asked: “Governor Palin, if paying taxes is not considered patriotic in your neighborhood, who is going to pay for the body armor that will protect your son in Iraq? Who is going to pay for the bailout you endorsed? If it isn’t from tax revenues, there are only two ways to pay for those big projects — printing more money or borrowing more money. Do you think borrowing money from China is more patriotic than raising it in taxes from Americans?” That is not putting America first. That is selling America first."

From today's Wall Street Journal-

October 10, 2008
Obama's Magic
By Kimberley Strassel

And now, America, we introduce the Great Obama! The world's most gifted political magician! A thing of wonder. A thing of awe. Just watch him defy politics, economics, even gravity! (And hold your applause until the end, please.)

To kick off our show tonight, Mr. Obama will give 95% of American working families a tax cut, even though 40% of Americans today don't pay income taxes! How can our star enact such mathemagic? How can he "cut" zero? Abracadabra! It's called a "refundable tax credit." It involves the federal government taking money from those who do pay taxes, and writing checks to those who don't. Yes, yes, in the real world this is known as "welfare," but please try not to ruin the show.

For his next trick, the Great Obama will jumpstart the economy, and he'll do it by raising taxes on the very businesses that are today adrift in a financial tsunami! That will include all those among the top 1% of taxpayers who are in fact small-business owners, and the nation's biggest employers who currently pay some of the highest corporate tax rates in the developed world. Mr. Obama will, with a flick of his fingers, show them how to create more jobs with less money. It's simple, really. He has a wand.

Next up, Mr. Obama will re-regulate the economy, with no ill effects whatsoever! You may have heard that for the past 40 years most politicians believed deregulation was good for the U.S. economy. You might have even heard that much of today's financial mess tracks to loose money policy, or Fannie and Freddie excesses. Our magician will show the fault was instead with our failure to clamp down on innovation and risk-taking, and will fix this with new, all-encompassing rules. Presto!

Did someone in the audience just shout "Sarbanes Oxley?" Usher, can you remove that man? Thank you. Mr. Obama will now demonstrate how he gives Americans the "choice" of a "voluntary" government health plan, designed in such a way as to crowd out the private market and eliminate all other choice! Don't worry people: You won't have to join, until you do. Mr. Obama will follow this with a demonstration of how his plan will differ from our failing Medicare program. Oops, sorry, folks. The Great Obama just reminded me it is time for an intermission. Maybe we'll get to that marvel later.

We're back now. And just watch the Great Obama perform a feat never yet managed in all history. He will create that enormous new government health program, spend billions to transform our energy economy, provide financial assistance to former Soviet satellites, invest in infrastructure, increase education spending, provide job training assistance, and give 95% of Americans a tax (ahem) cut -- all without raising the deficit a single penny! And he'll do it in the middle of a financial crisis. And with falling tax revenues! Voila!

Moving along to a little ventriloquism. Study his mouth carefully, folks: It looks like he's saying "I'll stop the special interests," when in fact the words coming out are "Welcome to Washington, friends!" Wind and solar companies, ethanol makers, tort lawyers, unions, community organizers -- all are welcome to feed at the public trough and to request special favors. From now on "special interests" will only refer to universally despised, if utterly crucial, economic players. Say, oil companies. Hocus Pocus!

And for tonight's finale, the Great Obama will uphold America's "moral" obligation to "stop genocide" by abandoning Iraq! While teleported to the region, he will simultaneously convince Iranian leaders to peacefully abandon their nuclear pursuits (even as he does not sit down with them), fix Afghanistan with a strategy that does not resemble the Iraqi surge, and (drumroll!) pull Osama bin Laden out of his hat!

Tada!

You can clap now. (Applause. Cheers.) We'd like to thank a few people in the audience. Namely, Republican presidential nominee John McCain, who has so admirably restrained himself from running up on stage to debunk any of these illusions and spoil everyone's fun.

We know he's in a bit of a box, having initially blamed today's financial crisis on corporate "greed," and thus made it that much harder to call for a corporate tax cut, or warn against excessive regulation. Still, there were some pretty big openings up here this evening, and he let them alone! We'd also like to thank Mr. McCain for keeping all the focus on himself these past weeks. It has helped the Great Obama to just get on with the show.

As for that show, we'd love to invite you all back for next week's performance, when the Great Obama will thrill with new, amazing exploits. He will respect your Second Amendment rights even as he regulates firearms! He will renegotiate Nafta, even as he supports free trade! He will.

"Dubai: Terrorist Target?"

"Politically, Fayad says Dubai does not incite the fury of extremists because it is not viewed as a 'pro-Western Muppet' like nearby Saudi Arabia. "The ruling family is not known to say yes all the time" to Western wishes, he says. Case in point, Dubai refused to allow Western coalition troops to use its facilities during Desert Storm.

And whereas the heavy Western presence in Dubai would seem to make it a juicy target for terrorists, security analysts say the opposite is true based on a lack of indigenous dissent and the high standard of living enjoyed by all.

Dubai is unusual in that its population of 1.3 million people consists mainly of expatriates. The majority hails from South Asia and Southeast Asia, while the bars, restaurants, and offices teem with more than 100,000 Britons and other Westerners.

The relative minority of nationals enjoy a per capita income among the highest in the world. "There is no large section of disenfranchised indigenous people here," says James Le Mesurier, an advisor for Olive Group, a global security risk and management company headquartered locally.

The risk of a terrorist attack is also mitigated by the security measures the emirate has implemented at its borders. In addition, the government has begun shoring up its military, with help from the West. "There is a lot of spending here by the Brits and by the Americans with regard to the UAE armed forcesand lots of training," says Stuart Adam, regional security advisor for International SOS in the Middle East and Africa.

Security experts praise the UAE's installation of biometric technology and its overall tight security at ports of entry. "They've got a forward-thinking approach toward the use of technology," says Le Mesurier.

While they are more sanguine than Western governments, the region's security officials do not rule out risk entirely. "When you drive around, you don't think about it, because Dubai doesn't make you feel like you are in the Middle East. It feels benign," says Adam. But, when asked if an attack will come, he responds: "One day it probably will.""

Funny how the liberals never say "correct" to anything, only how you're "wrong."

Thanks SO much for "correcting" me.

About the terrorism, you haven't disproven what I'm saying. Chinese terrorism is different, as is Chechnyan, as is Kurdish, and you know it. We're talking about how Dubai can have zero terrorism but yet be a capitalist Islamic nation. It's a trap.

And how lovely of you to explore the technical, encyclopedic definitions of Communist and fascist. Who the F cares! You ARE living in the last days of freedom as you know it...

UNLESS you decide that you must act.

For the rest of it, Obama has no uniformed youth supporters (except perhaps in cadets and boy scouts - you know, upstanding American groups), never suggested rounding up Republicans, or anything like that. Obama is also a liberal capitalist - a communist believes in NO for-profit economic activity and no private property.

The people who use the words socialist, communist and fascist never ever know what those words mean.

Both candidates received contributions. Duh.

Like...the Saudi royal family's extremist wing? Ayers was barely an associate. McCain was more of a pal with Keating the crook than Obama was of Ayers.

"However, we should question Obama's links not only to home-grown Marxists and terrorists but also with foreign Marxists, such as his Kenyan relative Odinga.

Obama used his elected office—and taxpayers’ dollars—to support Kenya’s Raila Odinga, self touted as “Your Agent for Change,” a violent and dangerous man who made a pact with the Muslims to institute sharia (Islamic law). Odinga’s followers killed 750 people and burned a Christian church with 50 people, many of them children, inside."

If there is one thing that is contemptible, it is exploiting the terrible atrocities by Kenyan extremists for political purposes. Those were done by Odinga's most extreme supporters. Obama had no links to Odinga personally at all. His father was a member of the same tribe. By that line of reasoning, being half-Jewish, I'm responsible for the actions of all the Jewish members of the Russian Mafia (there are a number, as there are a disproportionate number of any marginalized group in Russia). Boy, the Pubbies are fuming tonight. Limbaugh and Hanity must have really been flinging the red meat with Fox to fan flames.

Don't worry Pubbies. You can keep your guns and be angry in your bunkers waiting for the End of Days. The rest of the country will move ahead without you and clean up the mess that 8 years of Republican lying corruption and idiotic incompetence have left for our country.

Here's the difference between the campaigns. McCain talks about anything but his sorry incompetent record and no plan to change the failed policies of the past 8 years to his angry frenzied supporters.

Senator John McCain joined in the attacks on Thursday on Senator Barack Obama for his ties to the 1960s radical William Ayers, telling an angry, raucous crowd in Wisconsin that “we need to know the full extent of the relationship” to judge whether Mr. Obama “is telling the truth to the American people or not.”

And now, Obama's gets right to the issues that matter by calling for an end to more Republican rip offs of the middle class to supporters who want a brighter future for our families.

Mr. Obama zeroed in on the potential cost to taxpayers, which would result from the government’s having to pay full face value on the mortgage papers even if the homes were worth less than the outstanding mortgage balance.

“It’s a plan that would guarantee that American taxpayers lose by handing over $300 billion to underwrite the kind of greed and irresponsibility on Wall Street that got us into this mess,” Mr. Obama said from a platform above the pitcher’s mound at the Dayton Dragons stadium.

“It’s not just that Senator McCain’s bailout rewards irresponsible lenders,” Mr. Obama added, “it’s that his bailout would make it more likely that those lenders keep up their bad behavior.”

"The only thing we have to fear is feat itself" AND the lying, hypocritical, cynical Republicans who keep spreading it.

No terrorism in China? There were terrorist attacks on Police Stations in western China just days before the Olympics one of which killed 16 policemen if memory serves.

No terrorism in Russia? Apparently you don't remember when Chechnyan terrorists took over a school in southern Russia and killed over 400 people, mostly kids, or when they took over a theater in Moscow and dozens died in the police raid to free them or dozens of other terrorist bombings and attacks in Russia by Chechnyan terrorists.

Iran has had terrorist attacks from Kurdish minorities operating from Iraq (the US put a stop to with military operation ironically enough) but they're a totalitarian police state with an almost homogeneous religious - Shiite and ethnic makeup - Persian.

Hey ohioan,

Here's an article by the Akron Beacon Journal. Be sure to read the last paragraph.

CLEVELAND: The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections said it is investigating an organization that registers low-income voters after it turned up evidence of voter registration fraud.

The board doesn't know how many fake registrations came from the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. But the board said multiple ACORN workers often handed in voter registration cards listing the same people, but showing them living at different addresses.

The board said an ACORN quota requiring part-time workers to sign up 20 voters per five-hour shift played a role. The organization stopped the registration by the part-timers on Aug. 15.

Officials don't expect fraudulent registrations to affect the November election because of requirements that voters must show identification at the polls. ACORN said it has registered 86,000 new voters in the Cleveland area.

You probably believe the John McSame was "shot down" in Vietnam. Actually he was brain washed and refused to come home when his captures were willing to let him go.

He is the true Manchurian Candidate. He is a shill for the Commies that took over Vietnam. He has made more trips there than any other member of Congress in American history.

Most of McPain's money is coming from the Far East. You are very nieve about this man.

Ohioan: the A.C.O.R.N. group is registering dead people and felons in most all the states. The attorney general of Nevada went into their Las Vegas office and discovered all sorts of fraud from their registering the entire Dallas Cowboy football team as voters in Nevada to registering dead people. Here in Texas a watch group found 50,000 illegally registered voters, most dead. A young black lady said on one of Houston's news station that her mother, dead for ten months, would be horrified to know that someone registered her to vote in just the last week. They are also finding felons registered. Obama is not only attempting to buy the White House but steal it too. We'll pay for those primetime slots. Obama received millions in donations from his friends in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and now, thanks to the bailout, we will pay for that! In other words, we will pay for Obama's propaganda to brainwash us.

Nothing is more important that the candidates' honesty and character. Someone needs to question what begs to be questioned. If you love your country, why would you associate with people that hate it and to seek to destroy it?

However, we should question Obama's links not only to home-grown Marxists and terrorists but also with foreign Marxists, such as his Kenyan relative Odinga.

Obama used his elected office—and taxpayers’ dollars—to support Kenya’s Raila Odinga, self touted as “Your Agent for Change,” a violent and dangerous man who made a pact with the Muslims to institute sharia (Islamic law). Odinga’s followers killed 750 people and burned a Christian church with 50 people, many of them children, inside.

Maybe Senator Obama should include a 1-minute segment that shows John McCain's mortgage bailout program when it first hit his website, and then later when a sentence was removed.

The removed sentence, in essence, completely lets banks off the hook and asks taxpayers to take the hit on lost mortgage value.

Why on earth would we reward the banks? Forget Democrats, how could McCain's conservative base buy that?

How could the Arizona Senator be any more inept at running his campaign? This is getting more bizarre by the minute.

John McCain is not man enough to own his sh^t. John McCain will not openly confront Obama with his smears and lies and innuendo. John McCain will not come out and talk about Ayers, he has to be asked. That is why he goes to places like Fox News, so he can be asked. What a coincidence.

John McCain is a coward.

John McCain would rather hide behind his wife and Sarah Palin than say it himself.

He would rather produce 2 minute ads that his campaign will never pay to air anywhere, and hope that the tire-swinging media will bring up the topic so he doesn’t have to do it himself.

John McCain just wants to throw sh^t out there, and "raise questions" about Obama, and hope his supporters connect the dots, because he is too much of a coward to directly push this toxic stew. He would rather hide behind his wife, Palin, right-wing bloggers, surrogates, and scummy websites staffed with wingnut welfare recipients like the NRO and the Weekly Standard.

John McCain had 90 minutes to bring this stuff up to Obama, to his face, and passed.

"None pointed out that on March 29, 2007, McCain himself voted against H.R. 1591, an emergency spending bill that would have funded the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and would have provided more than $1 billion in additional funds to the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Senate passed H.R. 1591 by a margin of 51-47. Once the bill's conference report was agreed to by the House, the Senate again passed the measure on April 26, 2007, by a vote of 51-46. McCain did not vote on that version of the bill. By contrast, Obama voted for it on both occasions. President Bush vetoed the bill, citing its provision for a timetable for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

Moreover, McCain has voted against other legislation funding care for veterans. On April 26, 2006, McCain voted against an amendment by Sen. Daniel Akaka (D-HI) that would have "provide[d] an additional $430,000,000 for the Department of Veteran Affairs for Medical Services for outpatient care and treatment for veterans." In addition, on March 14, 2006, McCain voted against "increas[ing] Veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion in FY 2007 to be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes." On March 10, 2004, McCain also voted against "creat[ing] a reserve fund to allow for an increase in Veterans' medical care by $1.8 billion by eliminating tax loopholes." Obama voted for the first two measures; he had not yet entered the Senate when the third vote was cast."

I would think Senator McCain would want find a bunker after referring to a respected member of congress, Senator Barack Obama, as "That One". This was almost in the same light as Perot's, "You People", as if to disrespect Senator Obama or place him beneath him. Do we really wanna talk about some dude from the 60's or the Keating 5, when our 401k's are losing everyday due to McCain's 90% support of Bush's economic policies.

Do you really want to buy everyone's mortgage at face value and then rewrite the mortgage for less. . .simple math, the taxpayer loses. If you buy the mortgage of a $100k home thats now worth $80k and rewrite the mortgage for $80k, thats a $20k loss taxpayers foot. . . and this is a bright idea?

You might like McCain, and not like Barack because of his name and ethnicity, but you'd better LOVE your job. Under McCain, you won't have one, he takes care of the big corps who lobby for him. Those same corps ship jobs over seas without thinking about you or me. President Barack Obama, funded by the great people of the USA, not big corporations, is the President who will help the middle class get out of this economic mess. If you think John McCain's "big corporation" government is going to pass the "savings" on to you via benefits or jobs, McCain has tricked you with the usual smoke and mirrors. If McCain gets in office, corps will win, you won't. JOBS are important, but McCain, Rove, and the Bushes would rather you not think about jobs or the economy, think about some radical guy from the sixties nobody cares about. . . classic misdirection/deflection/trickery.

Also, concerning McCain's health, even with Bushes policies, would he make it 4 years? Its something to consider because then the question is do you really want to have Palin as president? When you call Iraq "God's War" it sounds like something out of the crusades. . .thats extremist. When you speak at the convention for Alaska Independance Party, an extremist group that want to separate from the United States of America? And goes on to tell them to "Keep up the good work". I find that just as disturbing as Troopergate or her stance on "no sex education in school" (but the environment at home allowed a 17yr old to become a mother too early) That's poor judgement. This scares me and it just sounds like too much of a wildcard. . . .a very erratic pick by McCain. It would be great to have a woman vp, but she is just too much of a radical on the issues. Ever note how McCain's slogan is "Country First". . . Alaska Independance Party's slogan is, "Alaska First". I am not comfortable with that.

After losing his second debate, Senator McCain also continues to have a visual disdain for Obama as if he were "better than" Obama. Or as if he feels like he "deserves or is entitled" to be President. Because he
is a POW? Because his wife is wealthy owner of one of the aforementioned corporations? The true America is
not a country of elite, me first people. True America cares about fairness to all races, color, creed, religion, gender, class, rich, poor, etc. It does our country no good to hold rallys that support or condone some of the recent radical audience outbursts. This divides and stir up anger among the radical sect of the Republican party. Obama is a uniter.

The true America is not fooled by unfounded "Americanism" attacks on Obama from many extremist facets of the
Republican party. Whether its his ethnicity, patriotism, referring to his middle name, or is he "American"
enough. By Republican standards, you are only American or patriotic if you are Republican or Caucasion, or if you name is George Walker Bush or John Sydney McCain, if you "look" a certain way, if you come from a certain family. That is NOT true America.

This election has to stick with the issues, please don't fall for the tricks. With all the lunging from one desperate trick to the next, it makes me wonder, WHO IS THE REAL JOHN MCCAIN? WILL THE REAL JOHN MCCAIN PLEASE STAND UP? I am not sure who he is anymore or if he is being puppetiered by Replublican party radicals.

Consider saving your job, saving your 401k, and keeping corporations like AIG from having lavish parties on your dime. Vote Obama/Biden!

And we should extend expiring unemployment benefits to those Americans who've lost their jobs and can't find new ones.” The Great OB turned on his stomach anxiously. “I will invest $15 billion a year in renewable sources of energy to create five million new, green jobs over the next decade - jobs that pay well and can't be outsourced; jobs building solar panels and wind turbines and fuel-efficient cars; jobs that will help us end our dependence on oil from Middle East dictators. I'll also put two million more Americans to work rebuilding our crumbling roads, schools, and bridges - because it is time to build an American infrastructure for the 21st century. And we'll give every child, everywhere the skills and the knowledge they need to compete with any worker, anywhere in the world. I will not allow
countries to out-teach us today so they can out-compete us tomorrow. It is time to provide every American with a world-class education.” The Great Ob burped in his sleep. “That means investing in early childhood education. That means recruiting an army of new teachers, and paying them better, and giving them more support in exchange for higher standards and more accountability.” The Great OB passed gas and woke up. He turned on CNN, his favorite channel. “I give it two weeks before Obama campaign implodes!” “What is this?” said The Great OB. “The present economic crisis has turned into a full blown recession. There will be massive financial losses across the board with the broken government guaranteeing phantom credit so the businesses can continue its activities. Meantime, what has Obama/Biden campaign done? Sen. Obama has upped his anti-Bush rhetoric, despite the fact that he supported the Bush’s bailout plan.” “Hey, that’s not true. Just let me correct this. Just one moment” screamed the Great OB. “During his two presidential debates Sen. Obama has repeated his slogans from the campaign without offering any plan of action.” “Hey, that’s not true. Just let me correct this. Just one moment” screamed the Great OB. “Somebody should tell Sen. Obama that the USA is in a historic financial and economic crisis that will get worse before it gets relatively better.” “Hey, I know that. My economic advisers told me that! Just let me correct this. Just one moment” screamed the Great OB. “Sen. McCain has offered a bailout of foreclosed homeowners with government guaranteeing mortgage buy outs. Sen. Obama response two days later is to ridicule the plan laying blame on the Wall Street.” ““Hey, I did that. My campaign advisers told me that! Just let me correct this. Just one moment” screamed the Great OB. “Somebody should tell Mr. Obama that it was two weeks ago that we blamed the Wall Street. Now we are scrambling to rescue everybody else before we all go under. What are Sen. Obama’s plans for this weekend?” ““Hey, wait a minute. I know that. My campaign advisers told me that! Just let me correct this. Just one moment” screamed the Great OB. “He has plans to have two day fundraising bacchanalia in Chicago led by Ms. Oprah where the entrance ticket is sold for over $30K (thousand).” “Yes, that’s right baby. Michelle had this idea. She is so smart!” said the Great OB. “It is distasteful in a present economic environment when millions of Americans are losing houses, losing jobs; many more millions are threatened by the recession. My question is who those people are paying for these tickets. Is this the middle class that Sen. Obama has been talking about during his campaign?” “Hey, I know that. My campaign advisers told me that! Just let me correct this. Just one moment” screamed the Great OB. “I am sorry, but I have not seen more disconnected politician from reality than Sen. Obama. I have to add to it the Democrat-led Congress that betrayed our confidence in its ability to deal with any sort of crisis. Our tragedy is that it is unable to even admit to its impotency and its role in the present crisis. I am asking all voters in the USA to vote all these who betrayed our trust out of offices on November 4th. We need a steady and experience leadership that will put the country first before its own selfishness.” “Stop that nonsense. I am going to win, I am the Great OB! Do not forget that!” screamed the Great OB.

I believe that many of these horrible people yelling these things at Mccains Rallies and Town Halls against Obama are plants by the Republicans. I don't think them to be random supporters. These outcries are staged before hand.

It's not tough, "Mark." Try reading past the headline.

Let's all learn about the REAL John McCain, shall we? Or perhaps you die-hard, right-wing, redneck republicans can't handle the truth, hmmm?

Looks like the conservative republican maggots and Sunday Christan hypocrite and programed evangelicals are out in force with their usual crap. Senator Obama, holds a US Government Issued passport, with his date and place of Birth listed as the State of Hawaii. The US State Government has accepted that proof and the State Department verified its accuracy.

What is not acceptable is that Sidney John McCain the third was born in Canal Zone Panama, where his father failed to properly register his birth. He is no doubt a US Citizen virtue of his daddy being in the US Navy. But this fake war hero, Mr. preferential treatment all his life as per the Constitution is not a " NATURAL BORN" US Citizen. Cases against McCain are also pending in the US Courts but the conservative republican appointed Judges are as usual foot dragging. "NATURAL BORN" clause in the Constitution were introduced by the 39 Conservative White men, the representatives of the 12 Colonies. To rule out all blacks, other minorities and Native Indians and other US Citizens, who were foreign born. Canal Zone Panama has never been either US soil or US Sovereign Territory. Hence if there is one person who does not meet the Constitutional requirements, it is John Sidney McCain the third, the fake malignant narcissists war hero.

Obama is running a strong, dignified campaign. I am proud to be a Democrat, and an American. Please, Republicans, make your arguments based upon your beliefs and not upon phonied up fears. We need to be the UNITED States of America when this is over.

And I'm sick of functional illiterates like you and your bigoted minds.

It's Hussein- you idiot. It means "handsome." and is a common name in many countries friendly to the United States. Remember King Hussein of Jordan? Of course not.

I'm also getting fed up with my old military colleague John McCain. He has devolved into a lying, angry, irrational, impatient curmudgeon who launches despicable attacks on a basically good, honest, intelligent human being.

And after five short weeks, I'm sick of that clueless, smirking, know nothing excuse for a potential President named Sarah Palin. Her lying, deceit, and distortions are simply disgusting beyond comprehension. I don't think she has ever had an ounce of self respect or integrity.

She needs to have her mouth washed out with strong soap, and that lying lipstick rubbed off her snarky face.

If McCain somehow lies his way into the White House, he will probably have a stroke within a few weeks, and that ignorant woman and her "First Dude, the pregnant teenager, and all the other friends and neighbors from Wasilla will move in with them.

They are the ones who are un American.

In a time of economic crises, how could any American vote for an erratic elderly man and a space-cadet-puppet for president and vice-president? American needs her best and brightest to lead us out of this Republican Quagmire. The republicans have nothing to offer us, which is why they focus on some 60’s radical and other nonsense. We need serious people to deal with serious problems.

John McCain’s attacks remind me of the hysteria that was drummed up in America in the 1950’s by Senator Joe McCarthy, ironically from the state of Wisconsin, where McCain delivered his hate filled speech today.

His fear mongering and incitement of hate and anger led to the destruction of the reputations of thousands of fine, decent, and loyal Americans.

John McCain is stooping the same way into the gutter of lies and deceit in his efforts to dehumanize and demonize a fine, intelligent, hardworking fellow United States Senator. When McCain is defeated he will not be welcomed back gladly by his colleagues in Congress.

He has proven himself to be a desperate, lying, despicable old man. His running mate, the clueless Sarah Palin has no idea about the effects of her attacks will have on the candidacy of a good human being.

She used the same tactics when running for Mayor of the tiny town of Wasilla. I’m hoping that thoughtful Americans will not buy into her duplicity. She is simply beyond shame and dignity.

Not this time.

I find it pathetic that people continue to troll these message boards posting lunacies like "why hasn't Obama proved his citizenship." Has anyone seen McCain's? Bush's? John F. Kennedy's?

Hey "Tunes59"- you're full of crap. Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961. Stop trying to scare people into thinking otherwise.

Maybe Obama will tell us why he can't produce proof of citizanship. So far Mr. Obama has refused to produce the documents in the Berg vs Obama case and is trying to fight the court order to produce the documents.
Any American should be able to prove citizenship in less than a day. Why can’t Mr. Obama?

Here is a link to the actual court documents - http://news.justia.com/cases/featured/Pennsylvania/paedce/2:2008cv04083/281573/

A constitutional crisis will rip our country apart. If this is not cleared up now we will have a crisis. If you care at all about America you must call for Mr. Obama to produce the documents and prove that he is eligible to be President.

Please Rally Congress to have Mr. Obama produce the documents to prove his constitutional qualifications.

Half of the country is going to be mad either way this thing shakes out. McCain or Obama will begin their term in office dragging a little under 50% of the population kicking and screaming through the next four years. Not a job I would take on a dare.
It would make progress MUCH easier if one party or the other were in charge. I might be wrong, but it seems to me that Presidents that enjoyed a House and Senate majority performed better.
Come to think of it that is why I vote straight ticket in the first place.

Please... McCain promoting Clinton-omics? You really have to ask yourself, 'Is he just trying to be hip?' So sad. I do agree that real questions need answers about this Ayers connection. I don't care about the bombings if the Justice Department doesn't. I am concerned that Obama was able to impress this very influential communist activist. Ayers held Obama's political 'coming out party' and continued to personally contribute to Obama's campaign??? Obama might not know Ayers, but Ayers seems to know Obama. What's up with that?
