Obama Offers Closing Argument

Updated 3:25 p.m.
By Robert Barnes
CANTON, Ohio -- Barack Obama made a "closing argument" to the American people that sounded a lot like the opening argument he offered nearly two years ago, putting forth a broad and optimistic message that emphasized the economy, downplayed partisan politics and promised this election can "change the world."

"In one week, we can choose hope over fear, unity over division, the promise of change over the power of the status quo," Obama told a roused, capacity audience at the Canton Civic Center.

"In one week, we can come together as one nation, and one people, and once more choose our better history."

It was not happenstance that Obama began the final front of his campaign in this state. A victory here, where President Bush locked up his reelection four years ago, is crucial to Republican John McCain's electoral strategy.

The candidates both are campaigning here and in neighboring Pennsylvania today.

Obama's speech amounted to a 30-minute compilation of the themes he has accentuated throughout what has been the longest presidential campaign in American history. It is a message meant to inspire those who have not always participated in the electoral process, and one that calls for personal responsibility and awareness that government should not try to solve "all our problems."

Obama's remarks were studiously nonpartisan -- he mentioned Democrats and Republicans four times, and then only to dismiss their importance. By contrast, he mentioned "change" 18 times and "hope" half as many times as that.

"Hope! That's what kept some of our parents and grandparents going when times were tough," Obama said to cheers and applause. "What led them to say, 'Maybe I can't go to college, but if I save a little bit each week my child can go to college. Maybe I can't have my own business -- but if I work really hard my child can open one of her own.'"

But the speech was also tough on McCain, with Obama saying the senator from Arizona doesn't have the ability to lead in a time of economic crisis.

"After 21 months and three debates, Senator McCain still has not been able to tell the American people a single major thing he'd do differently from George Bush when it comes to the economy," Obama said.

"Senator McCain says that we can't spend the next four years waiting for our luck to change, but you understand that the biggest gamble we can take is embracing the same old Bush-McCain policies that have failed us for the last eight years."

Obama said one of the biggest failures of the Bush administration was squandering the country's good will and sense of community.

"That's what's been lost these last eight years -- our sense of common purpose; our sense of higher purpose. And that's what we need to restore right now."

He added: "The question in this election is not 'Are you better off than you were four years ago?' We all know the answer to that. The real question is, 'Will this country be better off four years from now?'"

After the speech in Ohio, Obama heads to Pittsburgh for his first campaign stop in more than 10 days in a state that voted Democratic in 2004. It is the largest Democratic state that McCain is seriously contesting.

But Obama plans to keep McCain on defense, with stops this week in Virginia, North Carolina and Florida, red states that the Obama campaign believes it has a strong chance to flip.

Joe the plumber was right to be suspicious of Obama's tax
plans. Once Obama and Pelosi have taken all the rich
people's money and driven the economy into the ground, they'll
come after the middle class looking for more.
Welfare and the dole can only be supported by working
people in the end. After all it's patriotic to pay higher taxes!

Also, the Racists, White Supremacists and Black man hating lesbians who are going with this "socialism" charge are setting themselves up.

Obama wins in a landslide, he turns the economy around(the Racists, White Supremacists and Black man hating lesbians swear up and down that it was Bush and Obama simply inherited an economy on the upswing)but we point to NOW when the Racists WS, BMHL's were saying that Obama was a Socialist and they look even DUMBER.

The simple way to prove that Obama was born in Hawaii would be to question the doctor who delivered him. Why has this doctor not spoken up?

Obama has posted a "Certification of live birth", which is NOT NOT NOT A Birth Certificate!

After months and months of unrequited requests, the Obama campaign did finally present a document which they claimed validated his eligibility (per the Constitution of the Unted States, Article II, Section I) as a "Natural born citizen" to have his name on the ballot in contention for the office of the President of the United States of America.

However, contrary to what the few media outlets who are giving this outrageous claim any attention at all have concurred, what the Obama campaign supplied was not, in fact, a "birth certificate". What they supplied was actually a "Certificate of Live Birth." There is a major difference between a "birth certificate" and a "Certificate of Live Birth." Aside from the level of detail differentiating the documents (hospital of record, doctor, height, weight, etc) - in the state of Hawaii, one authenticates natural born citizenship, and the other doesn't. This part is important, - it has nothing to do with tin foil hats. Per the State of Hawaii's Department of Health, "Amended certificates of birth may be prepared and filed with the Department of Health, as provided by law, for 1) a person born in Hawaii who already has a birth certificate filed with the Department of Health or 2) a person born in a foreign country." (For citation purposes, please feel free to visit their site: http://hawaii.gov/health/vital-records/vital-records/index.html ).

Why is this important? The "Certificate of Live Birth" provided by Obama, is in fact, a derivative of the "Amended certificates of birth" they site. Why is that important? Because per the second clause in the above citation, while you may earn citizenship via such a document, you do not necessarily earn "natural born" citizenship. "Natural born citizenship" is what is required to be eligible to be considered for the Presidency, per the United States Constitution.

The form Obama posted wouldn't even be acceptable to make an application in Hawaii's Home Lands Program!

From: http://hawaii.gov/dhhl/applicants/appforms/applyhhl

In order to process your application, DHHL utilizes information that is found only on the original Certificate of Live Birth, which is either black or green. This is a more complete record of your birth than the Certification of Live Birth (a computer-generated printout). Submitting the original Certificate of Live Birth will save you time and money since the computer-generated Certification requires additional verification by DHHL.

HERE IS OBAMA'S CLOSING ARGUMENT: SOCIALISM!

Posted by: InHarmsWay
-------------------------------------------

Ok, do any of you have the slightest clue what you are talking about? Is it socialism, communism, or Soviet totalitarianism? (The last one is what Animal Farm was about, by the way)

I'm just asking because I want to know what to look for when the conservative supreme court, all the republican senators and congressmen along with most of the democratic ones, and many of the other people that work for this massively bloated thing we call a government ALL roll over and say, "Sure, screw the Constitution. Let's give this a try."
I mean, I know Obama is a smooth talker and all but, according to other posts I've read like these, he's saying nothing. So, how do you purpose he's going to accomplish this?
Perhaps this is the creeping socialism I've heard so much about. I think it was Eisenhower who coined that phrase in the 50's, so let's take a look at socialism 50 years on and see how far it has crept. Well, how does it look? Wait! Wait! You're going the wrong way!

No. My money is most assuredly NOT on a part-time community organizer who has flitted from job to job in his adult life like a butterfly! He has never even learned his OWN profession-the law- well enough, he's never been a trial attorney, nor held a management position as partner in a law firm-too difficult! Obama doesn't do difficult, he doesn't do ANYTHING THAT HE HAS TO ACTUALLY WORK FOR IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE-IT IS EITHER HANDED TO HIM ON A SILVER PLATTER OR HE GIVES IT A PASS!

ALL HE'S EVER DONE, NEVER OWNED A BUSINESS, NOR PASSED AN IMPORTANT PIECE OF LEGISLATION, NOR HELD A COMMAND-NEVER MADE ONE DAMN EXECUTIVE DECISION OR HELD ONE LEADERSHIP POSITION IN HIS LIFE-ALL HE'S EVER DONE IS LISTEN TO A RACIST HATEMONGER-REV. WRIGHT-HIS ENTIRE ADULT LIFE-HIS SPIRITUAL ADVISOR, HE WAS, UNTIL OBAMA WAS CAUGHT OUT AND HAD TO LIE ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP!

NO THANK YOU! THIS DEM., AND MANY MILLIONS MORE LIKE ME WILL HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA-HE'S TOO DIFFERENT-I'LL TAKE MCSAME FOR 4 YEARS-HE VOTED FOR BOTH OF THE DEM. SUPREME COURT JUSTICES-HE'S NO CLONE OF BUSH'S BY ANY MEANS!

Indicted Sen. Ted Stevens endorses Palin pick by McCain

From the "potential kiss of death" category comes this endorsement of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate by indicted GOP Sen. Ted Stevens (Alaska):

“It’s a great day for the nation and Alaskans. Governor Palin has proven herself as a bright, energetic leader for our State and will bring the same energy to the vice presidency. She will serve our country with distinction — the first Alaskan and first woman on the Republican ticket. I share in the pride of all Alaskans," Stevens said in a statement released by his campaign.

“I have known and worked with Sarah for over a decade — from her service as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, in her role as president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors, and most recently as our governor. She is attentive to her job and family, brings people together, and is able to make tough decisions."

Palin, who has built a reputation in Alaska as a reformer, has called on Stevens to give a fuller accounting of his relationship with VECO Corp., an oil services firm, and its former CEO, Bill Allen. Stevens was indicted recently for allegedly failing to disclose more than $250,000 in gifts, including home renovation, from Allen and VECO. Stevens has denied the charges, but his trial is scheduled to start next month.

Palin also backed Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell in his primary challenge to longtime Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska), who is also under investigation.

There are certainly many posters who are going off the deep end for no good reason. In most other western democracies, Senator Obama is viewed, correctly, as fairly squarely in the center or slightly right of it. Neither McCain nor Obama can stave off the train wreck. But for picking up the pieces and starting over again, my money's on the community organizer. GObama!

The reality is the Republicans only have themselves to blame. McCain’s biggest issue this election has been trying to separate himself from the legacy that is George W Bush.

If the same Republicans that are freaking out about the country under Obama had shown 10 percent of the amount of concern when George W was ACTUALLY f’ing up the country as they do now, McCain might have had a chance.

You don’t get it. The US has gone from a shinning beacon of hope to a country self absorbed and arrogant.

AND YOU DID NOTHING to stop it!

You let Bush and his team of cowboys ruin everything you claim to hold so dear.

AND YOU DID NOTHING to stop it.

Don’t complain now because the majority want change that you don’t agree with.

p.s. I must add that, unfortunately, it is not possible to hold a recall election for a President-either a President resigns, or he is impeached.

If Obama is elected President, I wouldn't rule out the latter scenario. And remember, it's only 4 years-which is long enough to eff things up good, but not long enough that it can do permanent damage.

IF Obama is elected, and that is still a big IF, given that we have not heard from the 120 million registered voters in this country yet. OBAMA WILL NEVER MAKE IT TO A SECOND TERM, HE IS STRICTLY A ONE-TERMER-IF HE GETS THAT FAR.

What is ironic is their heroes Bush/McSame supported redistribution of our wealth to Wall St. When the government starts to control the banks it is a form of Socialism. In the extreme it is Fascism. The ignorants are so desperate that they don't even know this country inherently can not achieve socialism.

OBAMA DISTORTS AND LIES -- ALL AMERICANS TO PAY HIGHER TAXES

Senator Obama is not being truthful when he says only Americans earning $250,000 will get a tax increase.

Senator Obama plans to let the current 2007 rates lapse. The rates under Obama will return to the higher 2000 level. Senator Obama claims that letting a tax cut lapse is not a "tax increase."

But requiring Americans to pay more taxes in 2008 than in 2007 amounts to a TAX INCREASE.

For a married family, filing jointly and earning $75,000 a year, this INCREASE will be $3,074.

For a married family, filing jointly and earning $50,000, this INCREASE will be $1,512.

Even struggling American families making just $25,000 a year will see a tax INCREASE-- they'll pay $715 more in 2010 than they did in 2007.

Across the board, ALL WORKING AMERICANS WILL SEE SIGNIFICANT INCREASES in their taxes with Obama's plans.

Yes, it will affect Americans even if their household income is as low as $25,000.

America - the land of the myth.

I have lost track how many times have I heard Senator McCain and Governor Palin use the word 'socialism' in recent days. It is an emotive word. To the less educated it may mean communism. To some news readers it may mean: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." But this only means they can Google Marx and, could probably tell you no more than that. It is a word that evokes a powerful image of the redistribution of wealth from the deserving and hard working to the undeserving. This is America, not Russia or China. This is why the use of the word is so good. One word can misrepresent what takes a paragraph, or sometimes pages, to explain.

But, of Senator Obama's policies, socialism they are not. It is not taking away from the deserving. Redistribution it may be, but back to those who have had to pay more than their share under President Bush, away from those who have profited most.

What of the myth: America, the land of opportunity. Is this under threat under an Obama administration? We all know that hard work and determination can rise us out of the dust toward success and fortune. Daddy was a barber and mummy often went without so we could afford to go to school. I worked hard, went to college and started a company with nothing but the sweat of my brow and a good idea. We have all known someone like that. The company president with the framed dollar bill behind his desk. His first earned dollar as a mail clerk in the company he now runs. However, this is the exception not the rule.

Studies of economic and social mobility track how easily one can move beyond economic and social caste. Studies such as the LSE Social Mobility Study and the Economic Mobility Project have consistently found that, of western developed countries, you are least likely to escape your social and economic caste in the United States and Great Britain. If you are born into a low income family, it is likely you will stay there. You are more easily able to begin poor and rise to the top in countries like France, New Zealand, Australia or Canada.

In Great Britain the emphasis is on social mobility. Opportunity is closely linked to who your family is. In the United States, money offers opportunity and the have-nots are at a distinct disadvantage. The haves have an unequal advantage.

Senator Obama is not talking about redistributing wealth of the hard working to the lazy and undeserving. His message is more broadly about a redistribution of right and opportunity. The middle-income tax cuts and the upper-income tax increases are just an example and are more about redistributing opportunity, making those who work hard see a little more benefit, something of which they have been denied in past decades.

Emotive words are for the lazy. It is easier to believe a myth, or to conjure an image from a single word, than to wade through thickets for an understanding closer to the truth.

Or if Obama had John McCain's Racist, elitist political voting against the MLK Holiday in Arizona philosophy that these same Racists and White Supremacists would be supporting the Black guy.

Its so lame and weak and nobody is buying it.

The problem they have with Obama is NOT that he's a Socialist or Markist because he's Black its that he's BLACK regardless of his politics.

Colin Powell endorsed Barack Obama and no way in HELL is Powell seen as a Socialist(he's a Republican) but yet they still came with this Socialist nonsense even when Powell himself said it was a LAME and DUMB charge.

The FACT is these Racists and White Supremacists(Black man hating lesbians) are against Obama because he's Black and there is no way around it.

Instead of directing their anger and hostility towards the disasterous presidency of their HERO, George W. Bush, who has proven to be anything but a Fiscal Conservative; Republican Right WINGNUTS chose to turn a blind eye to the failed polices, abuses of power, brazen arrogance, and total incompotence of the current administration. Instead, they try to use fear, intimidation, aggression, distortion, empty bluster and ought LIES to bully their way back into the seat of power. For what purpose???

If McCain and that Idiot Palin win, then sensible, non Racists and non White Supremacists (and non lesbians) will do the same, let's see how great a Nation this is without anyone who has any sense.

My friends. Perfection doesn't exist. In normal times you can forget any politic involvement because some ground has to be given to the winners while they don't break the very basic rules of the global agreement. But when some of them are basicly claiming for such a break and supporting paralell powers is time to say no, please. No matter it was the Republican or the Democrat party.

What is very obvious is the focus on fear. Look at the buttons that the McCain camp is looking to push - socialist, communist, terrorist, Anti-American, Muslim etc.

What stuns me is that these are the same buttons they pushed that drove us to war and people are STILL buying it. I’m waiting to hear that Obama has weapons of mass destruction under his bed (with the Reds) and was linked to 911!

The “scare” topics raised are like big red (no pun intended) flags to the average Joe (pun intended). It doesn't mean they have any substance but fear more often than not is without substance.

But I guess if you’re running for President and you’re that far behind with a week to go then maybe you’ll say ANYTHING to get elected

…but then THAT would be VERY un-American.

Ironic.

HERE IS OBAMA'S CLOSING ARGUMENT: SOCIALISM!

"The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH and sort of basic issues of POLITICAL AND SOCIAL JUSTICE in this society, and to that extent as radical as people try to characterize the Warren Court, IT WASN’T THAT RADICAL," Obama said in the interview, a recording of which surfaced on the Internet over the weekend.

Obama is yet to make his final argument. It turns out that some comments he made back in 2001 are coming home to rost (as the right reverened wright would say)In the tape obama pushes his wealth redistribution agenda to the point that includes redoing the US constitution. This places him right up there with Hugo Chavez and other marxist rascals. It is very sad to note that with his radical contacts he could never be granted a security clearance but here we are as a nation about to place a socilist marxist, who has close ties to arab extremist, and home grown terrorist in the presidency. Wealth redistribution has never worked and has always in every instance decreased the wealth of any nation that pursued this economic stratergy. The end result is a nation who is dependent on the government and the citizens find themselvs fighting for basic needs and are locked into the marxist just to sustain themselves. Obamas wealth redistribution speech is on you-tube listen for your self. God help us all.

With the recent discovery of Obama's comments it's become obvious to us all that this man is a Communist.

After listening to this link along with others on the site there is no doubt that Obama is antithetical to the U.S. Constitution and in this regard he is an Enemy Of The State.

He should not be allowed to be President, for he has absolutely no capacity whatsoever to take the oath of The Presidency--whereby he is sworn to uphold and protect the U.S. Constitution. Obama wants to trash it altogether...

Obama's association with William Ayres is much more clearer with the revelation of this tape.

OBAMA IS AN ENEMY OF THE STATE...

Everyone accuses Sen. Obama of being Socialist, and what I'm getting is that it's not socialism itself you're against. Some people decided not to hide behind the rhetoric and say it outright: people want to think of Obama as unpatriotic and anti-America.

But let me ask you, what is more patriotic than an person who wants to see their country restored back to it's former glory? Criticism of the system does not equate anti-Americanism.

McCain is like a teacher who pats a student on the back even when they do something wrong in class and tells them that the work they did was fine. Obama is the blunt teacher, it stings to hear the truth but at least now you know something needs to be fixed.

8 years of Bush have left American's witha a country, government and policies that we SHOULD be ashamed of. Obama wants America to be proud of itself, but only after we've re-earned our right to do so.

The truth is Barack Obama is the real deal and the Media didn't "make" him as much as the failure of the White Supremacists and Racists of the GOP(Talk Radio, Fox News, Big Oil, Wall Street, Charles Keating) did.

And let me tell you something right here and now. The ONLY way there will be violence is if you BASS-TARDS kill Obama, I doubt you'll ever get close enough to do it but simply defeating him on election day will NOT do it.

Stop insulting Black people when you know damn good an well White NUTS- like the ones arrested today- are going to be the only ones planning violence when Obama wins.

Report: Pennsylvania Republicans email likens voting for Obama to rise of Hitler

By Haaretz Service

Tags: John McCain, U.S. elections

The New York Times reported Friday that a "new e-mail making the rounds among Jewish voters" in Pennsylvania, "equates a vote for Senator Barack Obama with the 'tragic mistake' of their Jewish ancestors, who 'ignored the warning signs in the 1930's and 1940's.'" The email, says the report on the Times political blog, was signed by top John McCain backers in the state. The email appears to refer to the rise of Adolf Hitler in Germany. (Click here for the full report)

According to the report, the email was sponsored by the Pennsylvania Republican Party's "Victory 2008" committee, and "was signed by several prominent McCain supporters in the state: Mitchell L. Morgan, a top fund-raiser; Hon. Sandra Schwartz Newman (Retired PA Supreme Court Judge), a member of Mr. McCain's national task-force monitoring Election Day voting, and I. Michael Coslov, a steel industry executive."

Confirmed: MSM Holds Video Of Barack Obama Attending Jew-Bash & Toasting a Former PLO Operative... Refuse to Release the Video!

LA Times writer Peter Wallsten wrote about Barack Obama's close association with former Palestinian operative Rashid Khalidi back in April.
Wallsten discussed a dinner held back in 2003 in honor of Khalidi, a critic of Israel and advocate for Palestinian rights.
Barack Obama has denied his close association with Khalidi, too.
According to Wallsten the evening not surprisingly turned into a classic Jew-bash:
"During the dinner a young Palestinian American recited a poem accusing the Israeli government of terrorism in its treatment of Palestinians and sharply criticizing U.S. support of Israel. If Palestinians cannot secure their own land, she said, "then you will never see a day of peace."
One speaker likened "Zionist settlers on the West Bank" to Osama bin Laden, saying both had been "blinded by ideology."
Barack Obama also praised the former PLO operative during the event.
And, Obama confessed that his family often shared dinner with the Khalidis:
His many talks with the Khalidis, Obama said, had been "consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases... It's for that reason that I'm hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation -- a conversation that is necessary not just around Mona and Rashid's dinner table," but around "this entire world."
...The event was videotaped, and a copy of the tape was obtained by The (LA)Times.
Khalidi and the Obamas were great friends in Chicago and often shared meals together.
By the way, Khalidi was also best friends with Bill Ayers.
Wallston was one of the few mainstream media reporters to report on this radical Obama associate.

Wallston said that the article was written after he watched video taken at the Khalidi going away party. When I asked him about the video he said that as far as he was concerned he was through with the story.

I asked him if he was planning on releasing this video of Obama toasting the radical Khalidi at this Jew-bash. He told me he was not releasing the video. He also would not comment on his source for the video. So, there you have it.
The LA Times has video of Obama toasting a former PLO operative at a Jew-bash but will not release the video.
This is outrageous.
Obviously, this video would do great damage to Obama who struggles with Jewish voters due to his circle of close anti-Semitic friends.
Maybe this is the reason it is not being released?
Barack Obama funnelled thousands of dollars of cash to Rashidi's anti-Israel Foundation through his work on the Woods Fund.

UPDATED ON:

By Barnaby Phillips in Athens

In Athens' Hard Rock Cafe, just around the corner from my flat, hundreds of Americans of all political persuasions turned up to see the McCain-Obama debate on a giant screen.

Even the US ambassador showed up. I was there too, not an American, (albeit married to one), just one of millions of foreigners caught up in the excitement of this election.

And let me start with a confident assertion; the overwhelming majority of non-Americans who follow international events will be cheering for an Obama victory on November 4.

If you doubt this, take a look at the global election being conducted on the website of the Economist magazine.

Barak Obama will most likely become President. Democrats will rule the Congress and eventually a total of five, there are four now, liberal Justices on the Supreme Court will sit.
Those who have studied their history know that in 1933 the German people longed for change from the Government they had. They were out of work and the economy was bad so they elected a psychotic, charismatic, media supported liar who promised them everything and vowed to take it from the rich.

Obama is not Hitler although his election now is based on the same principals of the big lie, promises of change and bad economic times although nothing like Germany.

Obama is a stealth, a friend and associate of corrupt felons, anti American terrrorists, haters racists and bigots. Never has a candidate had so many close associations to so many disgusting and hateful wackos. Never before has a candidate had such a thin resume.
The perfect storm with give Obama virtually all power to become a dictator. The Congress, the Court and the Executive. No checks, no balances. We are all subject to being taxed and destroyed thereby and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

McCain is not a perfect candidate..far from it. But McCain is a true American hero and patriot who will not turn this country into a Marxist mess. Hitler wanted to rule the world and attacked bogus enemies. Obama will appease real enemies and allow the world to rule America.

Cindy McCain says that she is the only child. She lied.

Who is Kathleen Hensley Portalski?

Documents show Kathleen Anne Hensley was born to Jim and Mary Jeanne Hensley on Feb. 23, 1943. They had been married for six years when Kathleen was born.

Jim Hensley was a bombardier on a B-17, flying over Europe during World War II.

He was injured and sent to a facility in West Virginia to recuperate. During that time, while still married to Mary Jeanne, Hensley he met another woman — Marguerite Smith. Jim divorced Mary Jeanne and married Marguerite in 1945. (sounds familiar?)

Cindy Lou Hensley was born nine years later, in 1954.

To all of you who say Jesus/McCain/Peter Pan, etc. were socialist. Jesus was not a communist; Obama was trained by his mentor Communist Frank Marshall Davis. Communist do not believe in God, much less Jesus. Get real.

Millions of Americans are very, very worried and some are very angry with the liberal media. While shopping today, two women were talking and I joined the conversation. They were a clerk at a very large store and a woman who looked as though she was struggling financially. Both were very upset with the election process and very afraid of a socialist government. I spoke with a older couple who believe we should spit the nation. I get emails asking me to pray for a patriot president at a certain time certain day, saying churches are praying and pls. pass the email on. Obama has damaged this nation more than any time since the Civil War. If he wins, there will be a division between our citizens like never seen before. Obama is a socialist, had a communist mentor. That is a fact. He will ruin our democratic union. He is a devil in sheep's clothes.

McCain says that he is pro-life.Then why does he deny his relatives who are black.

McCain's family owned slaves. Slave-owner McCain got horney a few times and fathered some black babies by African women.

Joe McCain, John's brother, attended family reunion with the black McCains.

McCain ain't no racist. He just doesn't want anybody to know that his family owned slaves and there are black McCains who were fathered by his family.

capitalism101 - So you'll let the "true believers" listen to Obama's "pretty" speeches, while you post multiple rants on a WaPo message board about Obama's preacher screaming "God Damn America."

So, let me see if I understand, because I am not a physicist and seem to be having a hard time keeping up with your logic here: those who are inspired by Obama's speeches are ignorant followers; the enlightened free-thinkers are the ones not voting for him because his preacher said "God Damn America."

It would more fair to characterize Obama as a Progessive, not a Socialist.

The reason for this fairness. For fairness sake we have chosen a Progressive tax system. Obama is proposing to get this system back to what it was before Bush and McCain changed it.

They made it Regressive. Instead of taxing according to how much people could afford they increased the tax burden on those who couldn't afford it. Shifting the burden more to middle class. So, if somebody wants to start accusing somebody of class warfare then let us start with Bush.

This is all about fairness. Why should we continue to give tax breaks to corporatioins that ship jobs overseas and make the middle class pay an increased tax burden?

This accusation of socialism lacks any intellectual merit. Socialism is not a progressive tax structure. Socialism is defined as the "vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole." Obama has never advocated public ownership of the means of production.

Spin and fear based on the emotional response to the word socialism seems more the intent of this piece than the actuality. If anything Bush may go down as the most socialistic president in U.S. history. Buying ownership interests in banks is socialism.

There is much deception in the Obama campaign yet so many people want to pretend it isn't there. Most people I know that are voting for Obama are voting for him simply because they hate Bush. I find that chilling & a pretty irresponsible reason to pick a candidate. Senator Obama's strong socialist position is pretty evident in his policy platform on his campaign website. His positions on education, various vehicles for "redistribution", his "energy giveaway" (where will that money come from?), healthcare, stiffling of small business growth - are a few very clear indicators. I wish people would put their emotions & vendettas aside and look at the facts for themselves. Socialism will not make our country a better place to live.

Well, why do you think people hate Bush? Could it be because he is a incompetent president who pushed policies that were unacceptable to the majority of Americans. If a public official does a terrible job, why the heck do you want to keep his party in power? Especially when the party candidate enthusiastically supported him for years.

You are simply regurgitating the latest McCain talking point. The smears about Ayers and Wright didn't work, so now you try calling Obama a socialist. Ain't going to work Pal

Sen. McCain is a "socialist" too by his own definition as applied to his own words:

"… wealthy people can afford more … when you are -- reach a certain level of comfort, there's nothing wrong with paying somewhat more … I think middle-income Americans … also deserve significant relief, in my view ..."

++++

Even Jesus was a socialist, according to today's superficial political "analysts" in this blog.

The over simplification, by brainless and blind political 'observers', of the term socialist is a disgrace.

Fairness is now a bad word made synonym with socialism. If having the wealth of a country distributed based on how much the workers produce is socialism, then Jesus was a socialist, and so am I.

The lack of class consciousness among the working class is appealing. You shoot your selves on the foot just to not being caught demanding fairness. You have no problem in defending the billionaires.

You people are crazy.

I don't know what's so confusing about the concept of redistribution of the wealth.... when I hear that phrase, I think of things being made more equitable: as in not letting it be so easy for the wealthy to hide their money offshore, as in not letting it be ok for companies to get tax benefits for outsourcing their businesses, as in overseeing/regulating the slippery manipulation of the financial world. Most of us out here are hard working, honest folks, who just want to be treated fairly and be able to trust the majority of business and government.... That's why we're having such hard time pulling out of this economic crisis - the people do not trust - with good reason.
Greed. Obama is just trying to even things out between the greedy and the honest.

The Great OB plans out the future of the Galactic Republic USAmerica
The Great Ob called the Hollywood Celebrities Council led by Oprah to an emergency meeting after his inaugural address in Washington, DC. The Great OB laid out his agenda: 1. Dissolve FBI, DEA, and other law enforcement agencies. Replaced by the one million men headed by Minister Farrakhan; 2. Recall the US Army from Iraq and reposition it to Afghanistan. All National Guard troops will be put on alert and send to Afghanistan. National Guard will be replaced with pardoned prisoners, who will form the core of the Obama Guard; 3. All constitutional rights in the USA will be suspended except making Movies by Steven Spielberg and TV shows by Oprah; 4. The opposition leaders will be immediately arrested and prosecuted for treason; 5. Newly elected Congress will be instructed to rewrite the Constitution of the USA transforming the USA from the Republic into the Peoples Republic USAmerica; 6. All private property including business will be immediately nationalized and put into the Obama Trust Fund; 7. After the new Constitution is adopted the Congress will be immediately dissolved and all lawmakers will be imprisoned; 8. All courts will be transformed into the military courts run by Minister Farrakhan; 9. All religious properties are being transferred to the Obama Trust Fund; 10 All freedoms are suspended indefinitely. There will be only one national newspaper, one TV station, and one radio station. All Internet communications are being banned. Internet will be used only by military personnel under command of Minister Farrakhan. The Great OB stated that more decrees will follow soon.
George Clooney opened his mouth and stood there in silence. Samuel Jackson repeated his old mantra “we have a Leader, who won for us.” Matt Damon and Ben Affleck chanted mindlessly “the Great Leader, who won for us, the Great Leader, who won for us, the Great Leader who won for us.” Barbara Streisand wanted to sing the uplifting song titled “The Great Leader OB who won for us,” but could not get any sound of her chest. Steve Spielberg reminded them about the importance of this win “I am going to continue making movies, You are all welcomed to star in them. They will praise our Leader, the Great OB and his life. It is all for the good of the Galactic Republic USAmerica.” Matt Damon started to sing the song “I am so proud of our work towards this win. We won because we sang songs, paid money, gave interviews and now we will make more movies praising the Great OB.” They all agreed that the Great OB is the Greatest Leader of them all. The Great OB will lead the Force. Oprah, Clooney, Jackson, Damon, Affleck, Streisand, Spielberg formed a circle around the Great OB and started to dance in exciting rhythm.

The only explanation for people voting Republican this election is that you have shaped your identity around being a Republican. The reason I say this is because Republicans are not conservative economically (Largest budgets in history), Republicans are not conservative on foreign policy (real conservative thinkers don't care about what the hell other countries do, we'll deal with America, you deal with your country), Republicans are not conservative on constitutional protections (force your morality through legislation, wire taps, hapeus corpus, etc, etc, etc.

Basically, Republicans right now are just a mishmash of confused souls who say, "my name is Joe and I'm a Republican. I don't think about why, but I am one." Sorry guys, I am a conservative, and I am NOT a republican right now...maybe later down the road if and when they get back to conservative principles, but they deserve to be put out into the wilderness and rethink their betrayal of this great country.

I'm going to deal with each and every word of Tyrones DUMB post. Just to expose how STUPID the thinking of the Racists and White Supremacists (Black man hating lesbians) is.

1) So what if the Media "takes the credit" for Obama's victory? The major tenant of White Supremacy is that White people think they are SUPERIOR so of course if the obviously SUPERIOR candidate wins these White Supremacists in the Media will claim credit, who cares.

2) Fat chance the White Supremacists in the media will take the blame if Obama loses, its not in their character just as its not in the character of White Supremacists, Racists and Black man hating lesbians to ADMIT that he's the most qualified and capable candidate running.

3)What a Crock. The White Supremacist media "vetted" Barack Obama a THOUSAND TIMES harsher then ANY OTHER CANDIDATE IN HISTORY! and it was because he was Black and NOOOOOBODY- especially a White Supremacist media- wanted to support a Black Candidate and then end up with egg on their face.

Factcheck.com and polititruth.com and all those sites and organizations ALL checked out all the LIES these Racists are telling about Barack and ALL OF THEM were proven to be BULLSHYT.

How much damn "vetting" do you want?

As for Obama's record they've poured through his record for two years ans still the found NOTHING to complain aobut.

NETHERLANDS ANTILLES

Posted by: fu_buki | October 27, 2008 6:54 PM | Report abuse

Hey jjcrocket - Here's verifiable scoialism for you:

There was a man named Jesus who lived a little over 2,000 years ago. He is the person that I love an dedicated my life to. So I agree with Jesus' redistribution plan.

He took a few loaves of bread and fed thousands.

He told the ruch young ruler to sell what he had, give to the poor, and follow Him.

Mark 10:17 (King James Version)

10:17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and

kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit

eternal life?

10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but

one, that is, God.

10:19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not
steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

10:20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from
my youth.

10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou

shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

10:22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great
possessions.

10:23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

10:24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again,
and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to
enter into the kingdom of God!

10:25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

10:26 And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then
can be saved?

10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with
God: for with God all things are possible.

10:28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed
thee.

10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,

10:30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren,
and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the
world to come eternal life.

10:31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

Here endith the lesson.

Capitalism101 - Wright isn't on the ballot. No one is voting for him.

I know you don't like to think too hard about this, but Obama gave a complex and sophisticated explanation of his relationship with Wright last spring. You might remember it because some people considered it the most substantial speech on race in America in a generation.

Obama had a preacher who said crazy things. Obama addressed the issue in a meaningful way. For most of us, Obama came out ahead on the Wright issue because he handled a potentially explosive issue in a composed, intelligent, and compassionate way.

In other words, he was presidential.

So, move on to the next talking point, please. (I haven't gotten the memo yet, but I think it has to do with Obama "spreading the wealth.")

Like I'd said:
"She went skiing in her swimming suit (I'm not thinking about Palin here, I swear)".

You see my point?

When McCain-Palin-Rove and co tell you to you your brains and to vote McCain-Palin: they really mean: give us your brains or give up your brains, don't think a second, fear fear fear fear fear, get more and more and more and more stupid, and used over and over and over and over and over again!!!

If GOP wins: that will be the absolute evidence that they can do anything, I SAID ANYTHING, they want to your lives, family, opportunities and future: rob your money by underpaying you, rob your private and retirement funds by letting a financial system go awry, rob your health by letting corporations sell you dangerous products, rob yours and your kids' lives sending them to war so corporations can get more $$$$ $$$$ from oil deals (BIG surprise!!!).

Whatever McCain-Palin-Rove & co are telling you to believe in, they really must think your are SO idiotic they don't even have to make up lies that make sense??

They can garbage anything in you heads, really? Can they?

Yeah, that's right! Just listen to them, give them all your power!

Gezzzzzz, that is NOW or never people, GET REAL!!! Get informed, go to the library, open dictionaries, open your eyes. They tell you not to believe the internet, not to believe the medias, go to the library then, look at old books, old dictionaries, think for yourself your Christ's sakes!

If you are dissatisfied with both candidates, well make the best choice possible then. Ask yourself what is the most importnt think you want say.

Any way, NOT REWARDING the GOP after what they've done to America and American people FOR YEARS!! is quite a start don't you think???

McCain and Bush have the SAME ADVISERS, they will STAY in the white house if McCain's elected. They are furniture already, aren't they? Those people rubbed America. They deserve to be kicked out ASAP!!!!!!!!!!

Obama position:

Unearthed, this 2001 radio interview finds Illinois State Senator Barack Obama lamenting the fact that the Civil Rights Movement was unable to bring about "Social Justice" through redistribution of wealth.
When asked by a caller if he felt that it was too late for this redistribution of wealth to take place through the court system, or if he felt it was best done through legislation, he tells the caller that as a legislator, he feels that it is up to the legislature to make this happen.
Just to help people out here, when people ask, "Why do you keep calling Barack Obama a Socialist?" This is the reason.
"From each according to his means, To each according to his needs."
That is a quote from Karl Marx, the father of Communism. What that phrase means is, that all should work as hard as they can, and then the State will decide whose needs are greater, and will take from the more productive to give to the less fortunate.
That is the basic tenet of Socialism or Communism -- the two ideologies are of the same stripe.
Redistribution of wealth does NOT mean charitable giving. Redistribution of Wealth means the forcible taking from one person or persons, to be handed out to others. This ideology has failed in every society that has ever tried it. Take away the incentive to work, and production plummets.
The Soviet Union, with the greatest agricultural land mass on the planet, could not feed its people because the means of production was in the hands of the government, instead of in the hands of the people.

The fact that White Raicsts and Supremacists and Black man hating lesbians have a different definition of "spreading wealth" then Obama does is YOUR problem not his.

One question for those claiming that Obama is a socialist...

How?

Give one example.

Ok - raising marginal income tax rates on high-income taxpayers. Guess what - we already have a progressive tax code! It's not a new idea - the highest earners already pay a higher marginal tax rate than other taxpayers. So is President Bush a socialist?

John McCain doesn't want to abolish the current tax code and implement a flat tax.

IS JOHN MCCAIN A SOCIALIST?

He must be...by your argument.

Obama's position:

If Mr. Obama wins this race, it will go down as one of the great hoaxes and scandals of the modern era.

A silver-tongued orator, pawned off into the presidency, without having been vetted, with very little experience worthy of the office he seeks, and with a fawning media unable to put aside their own politics for the good of the country and simply allow both sides to be heard in a traditional fashion, America will remember this as a very dark time indeed in our history.

Al Gore was clearly to the left of Bill Clinton; John Kerry was to the left of Al Gore, and Barack Obama, incredibly, is very much to the left of John Kerry.

Believing that the Federal Government exists to seize and re-distribute the hard-earned monies of all working Americans, and then that the President and Congress's role is to sit on their high horses and determine for themselves the best uses to put to our funds, brands Barack Obama and those who fly with him as nothing more than socialists and even Marxists.

And the media have lost what little respect they actually had - when you have one chorus, singing from the same hynmnal -AP, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, NPR, PBS NEWSHOUR, Washington Post, NYTimes, LA Times, abandoning even all pretense of objectivity, then you have a monopoly rejecting 'fair and balanced' worthy of an Orwellian novel.

November 5, 2008 - perhaps will be a sad day indeed.

But if it does happen I for one will be back to fight again - for our Constitution, our freedom, our right to choose, our liberty, all of which are under attack and in danger of being taken by those who would take away these precious gifts, all in the NAME of 'social justice.' They do not blush as they seek to take away our uniqueness, and turn us into another failed France.

I am going to fight for this cause with all the energy and strength I possess right up until my last breath on this earth.

We need to guard day and night against those who would steal our freedom with their vain and foolish attempt to solve society's problems through the full power of centralized government. Opposing this was the very cause for which our founders bled out their lives.

I see the Racists and White Supremacists continue to plot and plan to assasinate Barack Obama. As the rest of the Racists, White Supremacists and Black man hating lesbians spread fear of him being a Socialist, a Muslim, Anti-American and a Terrorist and all sort of other nonsense.

Why Obama would want to "unite" or even appease you Idiots is beyond me. I say to HELL with each and every Racist, White Supremacist and Black man hating LESBIAN in this Country. F-K ALL YALL!

This man is risking his LIFE to save this country and these ungrateful BASS-TARDS want nothing more then to kill Blacks and sever their heads.

Where in the HELL is the media and the liberal Whites who are supposed to be about true democracy as well as true patriots?

You mean to tell me that McCain and Palin support this type of nonsense?

You mean to tell me you Idiots here on Washingtion Post.com support it?

Shame on all of you, you don't deserve ANY consideration after this election, you should not only have your money(most of you Idiots have nothing anyway) spread around amongst true Americans but all of your Civil Rights as well.

I was at the rally for Obama today in Canton, Ohio. When he said that we were all Americans, whether you are young or old, black or white, rich or poor, handicapped or healthy, I looked around at all those in attendance. And it was true. There were Americans of all walks of life at this rally. THAT'S what makes Obama the right man for the job. Everyone is included. This is what America should be about. And it's time for rich white men to step aside and give everyone a chance. When I read some of these hateful Obama posts, I can't help but think FEAR is the reason. Fear that the rich will no longer control America. And if that is Socialism, so be it.

For all those people who believe "spreading the wealth around" is a bad thing, why don't you go to Mexico? There, they definitely don't spread it around so there are no jobs, no opportunities, no safety nets, and very few chances to move up. If we follow the trajectory of these McCain supporters, that's exactly how we'll end up. Mexico has a lot of natural resources, a lot of sources of wealth, and some of the richest people in the world (including the world's richest man). But even the rich don't have it so well there because they're in constant fear of kidnapping. The police are corrupt because they aren't paid enough. Keep thinking like your thinking and you'll make my country into a Mexican hell. You think I don't love America? Think again. Our country will never end up being like socialist Sweden (since when was 99% literacy and one the highest standards of living in the world a bad thing?), but I do not want it to end up like Mexico either, with all the wealth concentrated at the top, an obliterated middle class with no protections, no rights, no opportunities because they've been squandered by a consertive, self-serving party that ruled Mexico for 76 continuous years.

America was founded because people sought freedom, not diversity. Our nation was founded so its citizens could escape the control of a repressive government. Now, vapor heads who will vote for an unaccomplished rookie, simply because he is black and preaches class warfare, want to give the sleazy democrats unfettered control over us.
Obama is no uniter. He undermined our troops in their war on terror, when he tried to talk the Iraqis into delaying their withdrawal until January, when he had been mouthing off for months about how they should be immediately withdrawn.
Obama can make a good speech, but we need a leader with experience, not an affirmative action rookie who has a herd of undesirable friends, many of whom should have their photos on Post Office walls.
Obama wants to take from the successful and give it to those with their hands out. That is not what the purpose of the U.S. tax code is all about. It's Marxist at best.
Our nation deserves better than Obama.

Too Bad,

Obama has the new 2001 tape out where he shows exactly what he intends to do. His books, his actions and his words up until the general election have proven what he really will do. He will have the irresponsible Pelosi/Reid Congress to do his bidding and he will be a compliant rubber stamp for anything they want. His centrist rhetoric dos not fly against his record for his whole political life.

Now that right wing nut-bags that allegedly want to kill Obama are in the news one week ahead of election. The sympathy factor will push the rest of the electorate to vote Obama. Mark my words, it will be in the news everyday, as will Senator Stevens conviction.

Tim Mahoney, and William Jefferson will not be mentioned, but the skinhead assasination attempt and Senator Stevens trial will be in the news every day until the fourth.

America needs a "real man" in the White House. We do not need someone who just came out the closet (if you follow my drift). Their are leaders of the world who associate Obama with a past that connects him with being "girlie" but trying to act tough. Where is Obama's record of defending America as a man in uniform? He has no battle scars...he has some pretty manicured fingernails though. Face it people...leaders in rogue contries and other Superpower leaders know a weakling when they see one. Biden has already sounded the warning. Obama has the stage appeal and theatrics but he is lacking the toughness, the boldness and the masculinity to be Commander-in-Chief. SORRY! NICE TRY OBAMA.

However you feel about his politics, you have to admire the campaign that Obama has run.

He has stayed focused on an upbeat vision for the country, he has surrounded himself with talented and capable people, he has allocated his resources efficiently, he has inspired others to join the cause, and he has maintained a sense of quiet confidence at each spot of turbulence along the way.

The fact that he's closing his candicacy with the same themes he opened it with says a lot about his ability as a communicator.

Obama simply has brought campaigning into the 21st century. Let's hope he has a chance to do the same thing for America.

By showing ourselves and the whole world the self-correcting mechanism of voting, we will show the world that while we can make catastrophic mistakes, we CAN correct ourselves, we CAN come back to what all decent people everywhere in this world know to be true: "We, the people, in order to form a more perfect Union" CAN lead ourselves to a better world.
Thanks for your post!

In 2001 the top 10% of Americans held 84% of the wealth in the country, the top 1% holding 33%, by 2006 holding 35%.

As more people fall into poverty they will not be able to afford the products of the wealthy. Wealth declines overall (i.e pain trickles up).

Research shows a clear link between income inequality and social cohesion. In more equal societies, people are much more likely to trust each other, measures of social capital suggest greater community involvement, and homicide rates are consistently lower.

When things are so out of kilter, why is there so much complaining about a 3% tax increase - which simply reverts to levels under Clinton? It was Bush that introduced tax cuts for the wealthy, that are meant to expire. Is the economy doing well because of this?

More of the same will not work. While I do not agree with Obama about everything, he offers intelligence and a commitment to help the average worker and the middle class. While McCain supported deregulation, Obama warned about subprime loans.

McCain and Palin have offered nothing that has not already been found wanting. While McCain may have only had poor judgment in helping his friend Charles Keating, who cost taxpayers millions; he has surrounded himself with lobbyists; supported the same economic policies that have led to a ten trillion dollar debt; and nominated a vice presidential candidate who thinks that a secessionist party is doing good work.

My daughter's future is already mortgaged by credit card economics. We do not need more of the same. This time, I will choose hope rather than fear.

McCain - Founding Member of the Keating 5:

McCain was one of the "Keating Five," congressmen investigated on ethics charges for strenuously helping convicted racketeer Charles Keating after he gave them large campaign contributions and vacation trips.

Charles Keating was convicted of racketeering and fraud in both state and federal court after his Lincoln Savings & Loan collapsed, costing the taxpayers $3.4 billion. His convictions were overturned on technicalities; for example, the federal conviction was overturned because jurors had heard about his state conviction, and his state charges because Judge Lance Ito (yes, that judge) screwed up jury instructions. Neither court cleared him, and he faces new trials in both courts.)

McCain intervened on behalf of Charles Keating after Keating gave McCain at least $112,00 in contributions. In the mid-1980s, McCain made at least 9 trips on Keating's airplanes, and 3 of those were to Keating's luxurious retreat in the Bahamas. McCain's wife and father-in-law also were the largest investors (at $350,000) in a Keating shopping center; the Phoenix New Times called it a "sweetheart deal."

McCain was not convicted of any crimes, though the Senate concluded that he exercised "poor judgment." (Furthermore, he got off on some charges by a technicality -- that he was still in the House when he took those vacation trips, and so the Senate couldn't prosecute him. The House concluded that THEY couldn't prosecute him because he had moved to the Senate.)

Here's some mavericky straight-talk, my friends:

I posted this one on Frank Ahren's thread but I think it is worth repeating here because I would bet on Obama/Clinton economics versus Bush/McCain economics anyday. Several times President Bush43 said that he "believed" in supply side economics as if economics were a religion. His father President Bush41 dubbed Reaganomics "Voodoo" economics, nuff said.

I hate Corporate Welfare, it eliminates competition and competition made this country great. Corporate Welfare reminds me of Dick Cheney and Halliburten. Halliburten was given a free ride on domestic and foreign soil. They fraudently wasted alot of money and then went into the liability avoidance mode. Now their headquarters are being moved Offshore to avoid taxation, the ultimate insult to Americans.

In my economic world, Public Assets utilized for private capitalization causes negative growth. According to this therom bailing out Detroit will eventually lead to inflation. If that is true where is the offset.

Don't get me wrong, I am into stimulating the economy through employment but why was Detroit so slow to retool ? Seems Detroit is still focused on marketing to those recessionary proof nevermind the common man and his family needing transportation.

Ground up stimulis instead of Voodoo Economics could give consumers an advantage by helping Americans buy new and more fuel effecient vehicles. What if Uncle Sam gave rebates directly to consumers buying new fuel effecient cars ? Of course Detroit would have to raise their own capital to retool. But just because Detroit retools does not mean average people will be buying new cars during a reccession.

I don't think Americans ought to get into the Automobile manufacturing industry through bail outs. Competition means that the strongest survive, merger if necessary. The product line must compete with global markets. And foresight would lead me to suggest adaptation to local and available sources of fuel in supply now like Natural gas and bio-fuels to a certain degree. Oh, and the deisel engine is coming back for passenger vehicles too.

In the long run what is the best choice for a stronger America today and tomorrow ? See, the Bush Administration acts in crisis mode only. They say we "must" do this because they are in crisis. Procrastination lead to crisis. Rushed decisions will probably lead to more chaos.

About 50 parishioners were locked into the Assemblies of God church before it was set ablaze. They were mostly women and children. Those who tried to flee were hacked to death by machete-wielding members of a mob numbering 2,000.

The 2008 New Year Day atrocity in the Kenyan village Eldoret, about 185 miles northwest of Nairobi, had all the markings of the Rwanda genocide of a decade earlier.

By mid-February 2008, more than 1,500 Kenyans were killed. Many were slain by machete-armed attackers. More than 500,000 were displaced by the religious strife. Villages lay in ruin. Many of the atrocities were perpetrated by Muslims against Christians.

The violence was led by supporters of Raila Odinga, the opposition leader who lost the Dec. 27, 2007, presidential election by more than 230,000 votes. Odinga supporters began the genocide hours after the final election results were announced Dec. 30. Mr. Odinga was a member of Parliament representing an area in western Kenya, heavily populated by the Luo tribe, and the birthplace of Barack Obama's father.

Mr. Odinga and Mr. Obama were nearly inseparable throughout Mr. Obama's six-day stay. The two traveled together throughout Kenya and Mr. Obama spoke on behalf of Mr. Odinga at numerous rallies. In contrast, Mr. Obama had only criticism for Kibaki. He lashed out against the Kenyan government shortly after meeting with the president on Aug. 25. "The [Kenyan] people have to suffer over corruption perpetrated by government officials," Mr. Obama announced.

"Kenyans are now yearning for change," he declared. The intent of Mr. Obama's remarks and actions was transparent to Kenyans - he was firmly behind Mr. Odinga.

Mr. Obama's judgment is seriously called into question when he backs an official with troubling ties to Muslim extremists and whose supporters practice ethnic cleansing and genocide. It was Islamic extremists in Kenya who bombed the U.S. Embassy in 1998, killing more than 200 and injuring thousands. None of this has dissuaded Mr. Obama from maintaining disturbing loyalties.

Liberal/socialist is inherently for and of the people. No different than our constitution. Obama would not install a dirigiste economy, because we already have one. In fact, we have always had one. The reason for this is to prevent bozos like the McCain-Bushies doing to our economy what has just transpired.

Dear Supply-siders and trickle down enthusiasts:
In simple terms, without consumers, there is no business. Under Bush-McCain you guys became billionaires. But now, there is no one left to buy your goods.
If you've got no one buying your goods, you will go OUT of business. How do you get back the customer? Vote Democrat.

I suggest you read the Constitution. It IS liberal. That's why the Bush administration has overturned it time and again. And what have you guys done about it? Nothing.

Palin taxed the oil companies and gave the money to Alaskans. That is not spreading the wealth? I don't expect to change any anti-Obama voters' minds, but I would at least ask them to take a breath and think of what they actually know about him - not based on what they have heard just from Republicans, but from other sources. He is not a socialist, Marxist, or terrorist. He is not against the second ammendment. Contrary to what you are getting from your party, most liberals have jobs.

Finally, when this is over, hopefully, we will have change and we will have two people who are qualified to be president, and we will have intelligence and dignity and vision restored to the White House.

It is sad for me to see so much conservative knee-jerk reaction - when conservatism used to be a proud, intellectual movement. Now it just seems based on fear and propaganda. Fight, fight, fight - that's what I hear from McCain. Well, fighting is not going to get us where we want to go - we have to be smart enough to work together, to find new solutions, and to innovate ourselves out of this crisis.

Obama is the man, that man, the one!

You are absolutely right. We have looked upon those eight years with Bush shaking out heads in disbelief. Now we will be able to talk to an American president who is actually bright, up to date, educated and KNOWS things.

We will be attached for sure if Obama is elected. The world will see him as weak because they know , he will not fight back against the enemy. He has told them himself he will de-fund our military.

What is he hiding that he won't prove his citizenship by showing his education records or birth certificate.

Those of you behind him will forever be regretting this. His economic plan, health plan and foreign policy is all totally wrong. I feel sorry for all of you.

McCaint has a new plan to jumpstart the economy and talk of his new tax plan for Joe....

Joe the Unlicenced Plumber will give informercials on how to.....

Snake a toilet with a common garden hose
Remove a bathtub and install a shower
Install a Waterheater and piping
Remove trapped food from your dishwasher
Repair a septic tank
Replace a Kitchen Sink
Back-Siphion a drain
Replace a broken cistern
Redirect and repair a down pipe
Re-regulate your pressure system

...all ways to save we Americans from paying a $250,000 dollar a year plumber from coming to your house..

And did I mention that McCaint was going to give Joe Wurzelbacker the Unlicenced Plumber a tax credit for his commercials???

All you neo-con bloggers just can't get a break these days.

Their candidate lost the last and final presidential debate, receiving a sound thumping from Obama, but the embarrassment doesn't stop there.

It turns out the new right wing poster child is just another right wing faux controversy, as transparent as the rest of the lies they're telling these days.

Some interesting facts (which still need to be verified) about Joe the Plumber are starting to surface:

Joe the Plumber isn't registered to vote.

Joe the Plumber doesn't make $250,000. Not only will Joe the Plumber not see his taxes rise under the Obama tax plan, he'll get a tax cut.

Joe the Plumber's Dad is a big-time Republican donor.

Joe the Plumber isn't licensed. He says he doesn't need a license since he works for a residential plumbing contractor who is licensed.

So when Joe was talking this morning about the new jobs that he hopes come in a result of his new found celebrity status, he was talking about working without a license?

And Joe "freelances", as many tradespeople do, and perhaps even gets paid under the table.

Hmmmmmm...can anyone say "AUDIT"

Since he doesn't have a license, it doesn't sound like he's all that serious about establishing his own business.

McCaint in last night's debate: "Joe, you're rich, congratulations!" McCaint complains that Obama wants to raise the taxes for Joe the Plumber, but Joe the Plumber makes far less than the $250,000 that would put him in a higher tax bracket under the Obama plan.

Joe the Plumber will actually get a tax cut under Obama's plan.

............Priceless!

So you're not rich yet, Joe, but you'll be doing a lot better under Obama's tax plan than you will under McCaint's...

And Joe the Plumber won't be fined for Health Care as McCaint lied stated in that FINAL debate after all.

When McCaint was railing about how unfair Obama's tax plan was to "Joe the Plumber" it was just more Republican crapola.

What a surprise.

Thanks but no thanks to Joe and the lies that take America to nowhere.....

This is wishful thinking. There were short periods after WW1 and WW2 when the world was looking up to the US. These days are gone. If the US strive very hard, it may be possible they are again viewed as equals some time in the future. At this time they are seen as inferior in every respect, be it moral, economic, scientific or whatever.

Mr. Obama, if elected, faces a huge challenge. The rest of the world is ready to give him a chance to improve the standing of the US in the world.
Mr. McCain stands no such chance. If he wins, the widely spread feeling of american inferiority will exacerbate.

John McCain's economic stimulus: Sarah Palin’s mission as Vice President, will be to go shopping. She can spend more in two months, than Joe the Plumber can make in three years. As it is now, Joe makes $40,00 per year, before taxes. Palin has managed to get the clothes tax free. Even though, most of them were designed and manufactured by Italians, French and other European companies, we should be confident that the money that they make off of her will trickle back to America. After the campaign, the clothes will be donated to charities. We should feel better knowing that those people living in poverty would rather have haute couture than food and funds for housing.

By what psychic power does does Tyrone know this when Sen. Obama's words say otherwise, and nothing in his personal history says its true? Why should we believe McCain when his personal history (closeness to Pres. Bush, divorced his invalid wife, crashed 3 or 4 warplanes as a soldier, TEMPER, bottom of his class student in college, Keating 5) call into question his judgment and values in these dangerous times?

How is it that the ranting right can read the minds of politicians that they hate? A good point was raised by Sen. Biden today - according to their opponents, Thomas Jefferson was anti-christian; Abraham Lincoln was an ignorant ape who wanted to enslave the south, JFK was "too dangerous" for the country during the cold war. Are any of these personal attacks from "omniscient" opponents ever legitimate? No; they are what happens when people in power are afraid of losing. I am so proud of my country, b/c it seems my fellow citizens are seeing through it this time.

BEWARE REPUBLICAN PSYCHICS, esp. when named "Tyrone"

This nation is on the verge of something historic - the election of a black man as President of the United States. If is fair to say the entire world is watching. It is also fair to say the vast majority is rooting for a Republican defeat. If you don’t believe me you clearly don’t read anything.

How did we get to this place and time? How did a freshman Senator inspire millions of voters to finance his unlikely campaign? Why is he leading in the polls? How did this happen?

Well, I’ll tell you how it happened for me.

I was one of those who had doubts about the Iraq war. I did not believe that Iraq was an imminent threat to the United States. Not that Saddam was a good guy ( he wasn’t) however there are lots of bad guys in the world who are not an imminent threat to us whom we don’t attack. We were already flying over his country everyday. There was a tight embargo. Unless he had nuclear weapons how big a threat could he be?

The Administration then lied to us about Saddam and his weaponry.. Further, it sent out a duped Colin Powell to convince us. Bush knew we would believe Colin. So the United States of America, beacon of liberty, attacked a third world country, destroyed its hapless military, made rubble of its infrastructure and occupied it.

Later the lies came out. There were no dangerous weapons. Just fudged intelligence.

The Dems swept into control of Congress in 2006. Bush’s veto could override a 51-49 majority in the Senate so the war went on. Notwithstanding every indication that the majority of Americans didn’t want this war to continue, it went on anyway with no end date.

So here we are. Tens of millions of us have made this journey starting at different places for different reasons; a journey which began with a distaste and disgust with Bush to a point where we may take our country back. Tens of millions have worked hard, made whatever donations we could afford and are already voting in many states.

The whole world is rooting for us to succeed. The whole world needs an America they can look up to again.

MAKE SURE YOU VOTE!

:-)
