Outside Groups Step Up Expenditures

By Matthew Mosk
Outside groups have not been a huge factor in the presidential campaign to date, but they are still out there making noise.

Some of the loudest who are out helping Sen. Barack Obama are the nation's labor unions. Today, the AFL-CIO announced a new wave of mail that is part of a $53.4 million voter mobilization effort, this time targeting gun owners, veterans and retirees in key states. "This effort represents a final push to reach the remaining undecided voters after months of communications to millions of working-class swing voters in battleground states on core economic issues," Steve Smith of the AFL-CIO said in a statement.

Today the union sent mail to 80,000 swing voters who are gun owners in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. "The mail pieces will be followed by phone calls and door visits by union volunteers to this group to reinforce the central message: 'I want to protect two things: my job and my gun. That's why I'm supporting Barack Obama,'" Smith's statement said.

Also busy this week was the Service Employees International Union, which reported $356,000 in phone banking and mailers, along with a hefty run of television ads focused on health-care issues and paid for by the union's political action committee. Environmental groups also sponsored mailers attacking McCain -- the League of Conservation Voters reported spending $280,000 for a "media buy" opposing Sen. John McCain.

On the right, the National Rifle Association reported some small expenditures for literature opposing Obama. And a group called the National Republican Trust PAC reported spending $75,000 in the past 24 hours on e-mails and online banner ads opposing Obama.

OBAMA IS A SOCIALIST!
HIS MOST RECENT SERMON CLAIMS:
“I THINK WHEN YOU SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND, IT’S GOOD FOR EVERYBODY.” What Barack means is for government taking from one group of people (the people who worked hard and earned it) and giving it to those who did not earned it (welfare cheats).

WELCOME TO BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA’S NEW AMERICA, IT’S CALLED REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH and his tax cuts for 95% of America is nothing more than Government welfare for people that don’t pay taxes at all. Haven’t we already been down this path ? This was done in the 70’s and the Democrats are bent on bringing it back.

One of Barack Obama’s most potent campaign claims is that he’ll cut taxes for no less than 95% of “working families.” He’s even promising to cut taxes enough that the government’s tax share of GDP will be no more than 18.2% — which is lower than it is today.
It’s a clever pitch, because it lets him pose as a middle-class tax cutter while disguising that he’s also proposing one of the largest tax increases ever on the other 5%. But how does he conjure this miracle, especially since more than a third of all Americans already pay no income taxes at all? There are several sleights of hand, but the most creative is to redefine the meaning of “tax cut.”
For Barack Hussein Obama, a tax cut is no longer letting you keep more of what you earn. IN HIS REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH PLAN, A TAX CUT INCLUDES TENS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS THAT ARE DISGUISED BY THE PHRASE “TAX CREDIT.”

Will hard working Americans support to cater to the ”parasite class” and bury the American worker further? Mission almost accomplished.
UNLESS YOU VOTE FOR THE PATRIOT JOHN MCCAIN, AND PRESERVE AMERICA AND OUR AMERICAN VALUES!

I believe that this country will be better off with stronger unions. The problem in the past is that they have stifled growth. Hopefully they have learned, I believe they have. If they have not I will join the contingent that fights labor.

If the Republicans get rid of the fanatic right, they can then regain strength because I believe this country is still right of center but the anti-intellectual component of the right which Bush and Palin cater to needs to be extirpated.

John McCain's economic policy looks more reasonable than it did at the beginning of the campaign. I frankly have lost trust in him when it comes to the economy and health care so my allegiance has not changed. but I always feel more comfortable when both parties have an economic policy which at least have some common sense.
