Palin Rips Obama Over ACORN in Maine

By Juliet Eilperin
BANGOR, Me. -- Speaking before a crowd of a few thousand supporters in an airport hangar, GOP vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin continued to question Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's patriotism and commitment to fair elections.

Palin largely stuck to her stump speech during her appearance here in the conservative-leaning Second District of Maine, whose single electoral vote the McCain campaign is hoping to secure. But she also attacked Obama for his ties to ACORN with new intensity, saying, "In this election, it's a choice between a candidate who won't disavow a group committing voter fraud, and a leader who won't tolerate voter fraud."

The Alaska governor -- who said that, when it comes to the GOP ticket, "We believe that America is not the problem, America is the solution" -- said Obama has shown no desire for victory despite the fact that he spoke so frequently about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"It sure would be nice if, just once, Barack Obama said he wants America to win," she said, as the crowd cheered.

"We are always proud to be Americans, and we don't apologize for being Americans," Palin added later.

Palin did make two specific Maine references during her brief visit here. She noted that the Second District has a long tradition of sending women to the House of Representatives -- including Republican Sens. Olympia Snowe, who introduced her this morning, and Susan Collins, who didn't attend the rally -- and that local residents share Alaskans' fashion sense.

"I feel like I'm at home because I see the Carthartts and the steel-toed boots," she said, with evident pleasure.

Pro-McCain individuals fill-in bogus voter registration forms with names as "Mickey Mouse", dead people names, names from phone books.

Then they blow the whistle to the "Justice Department" that Acorn (a legally established organization) is planning vote-fraud.

Is there ever a Drivers License issued to "Mickey Mouse"?

THEN the news "leak" that the FBI is investigating ACORN for 'voter' fraud.

The leak is ILLEGAL and NOT DIFFERENT in tactics as the Valerie Plame leak.

A LEAK meant to DAMAGE Obama, and thereby DAMAGES the citizens by deceiving them IF they fall for it.

Gordon Liddy, now free from having served 4 years of jail for that, held a fund-raiser in his house for McCain.

Sarah Palin has some nerve to question Barack Obama's patriotism. Her husband was a member of a party which promoted the break-up of America. The former leader of Todd's party would not swear allegiance to America and wanted to break up the country. Shame on her for her hypocrisy. You can't have it both ways!

There are facts about Obama' ties with ACORN that can't be ignored no matter how much his supporters just want to do it. He not only actively participated in this organization's activity but also helped it to get grants from the funds where he was director or member of the board.
Obama served on the board of the Wood's Fund, a liberal Chicago nonprofit, with Ayers from 1999 to Dec. 11, 2002.During these years Woods Fund gave grants to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) – more than $355,000.
Obama served on Chicago Annenberg Challenge, founded by Ayers, from 1995 to 2001. The Chicago Annenberg Challenge gave money to infuse students with a radical political commitment. CAC also granted money to ACORN.
Obama is not great politician, he can speak while reading the screen or repeating the memorized phrases, trying to mock the opponent without any limits.
America needs a real professional and a patriot, not a guy who can only use rhetoric like (well, you know, etc.) and just promise "change" and "hope".
His study in Harvard was organized and paid by radical Muslim activists (such as K. al-Mansour), he went to Pakistan in early 80s, he used money form the funds where he worked to give grants to radical Muslim organizations, he received money from Iraq-born billionaire Auchi and Syrian-born businessmen Rezko, both of whom were convicted in fraud, bribery, etc.
What is also important that there are a lot of missing information about his past, and we can't ignore it.
We should choose President not because of the novelty of situation (the first Black person), or his age, or his questionable "cool" personality, but because of his real deeds and his ability to do the job.
Obama has many leftist or radical ties, he formed under influence of pastor Wright, Ayers (in 90-s, when they worked together) and others. Radicalism joined with racial and probably religious prejudices is very dangerous, especially when the person receives political power. There were tragic situations in history when people had chosen leaders because of their ability to speak publicly (like Hitler in Germany, who during the crisis in economy promised Germans the changes, great future, etc.). We know where its led, and the price people had to pay for their naivety.

Sarah Palin has a lot in common with everyone. Noting that Alaska and Maine had a lot in common, today she feels "like I am at home because I see the Carharts and the steel-toed boots, and I see mixed in there with the suits and ties the N.R.A. hats." Wonderful, Sarah, glad you feel welcome. Yesterday, however, Sarah was "in common" with those in New Hampshire. "You're a lot like the people of Alaska," she said at one point, then suggested Alaska borrow the New Hampshire motto of "Live Free or Die." Then, she alluded to "the fine people of Massachusetts who got sick of paying all those taxes," deriding those who didn't. What will she find "in common" with Massachusetts residents if she dares venture there, I wonder? But two things are certain: Maine and New Hampshire Paulin people definitely don't like folk from Massachusetts; and neither state has a Pit Bull for Governor.

"Iraq was the only theater in which we could freely defeat, kill, and humiliate al Qaeda and radical Islamists."

That is in line with pre-emptive neo-con doctrine. Bring the war to them, before the bring the war to us. Except there was no Al Quada in Iraq before the War. There was NO suicide bombers in Iraq.

Who gives Russia the logic to invade Georgia? Neo-Con.

Why does law forbid you to punch someone except in self-defense?

If eradicating radical islamics is good enough reason for attack. U.S. should have attacked Iran. Would have enough reason to attack a host of other countries. If eradicating radical islamics is good enough reason, why was Bush taking the 'weapon of mass destruction' excuse to invade Iraq?

"Far from weakening Afghanistan, it was complementary to it"

Do you have intelligence that Afghan Al Quada had sent militants to Iraq? Not organizers, militants. You are telling me on Afghan front, if they had more troop and resources, they wouldn't have done a better job cleaning up Afghan Al Quada?

": as destroying Nazi Germany was to defeating Japan. "

No this is not similar to WW2 with Germany and Japan. With WW2, Germany and Japan are clearly defined enemies. You kill 100 of them, their number is reduced by 100. With War in Iraq, Bush has feed terrorism by providing terrorism a pausible theory that U.S. is the Imperialist giant that bullies innocent Iraq, and terrorism is the only discourse.

"Likewise, the military is not broken but now even more competent, trained, and experienced than it was at the start of the war."

This is probably true. That is the more reason to treasure them and let them only fight for the JUST causes.

What was John McCain thinking in selecting the gaffe-prone Gov. Sarah Palin?”

In what has now become a disturbing pattern, the Alaska governor seems either unable or unwilling to avoid embarrassing statements that are often as untrue as they are outrageous. Recently, for example, in an exclusive interview with news anchor Katie Couric, Palin gushed, “When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.’” Apparently the former Alaskan beauty queen failed to realize that in 1929 there was neither widespread television nor was Franklin Roosevelt even President.

Palin may have had some experience in Alaskan politics, but at times the former small-town mayor seems unaware of the pressures of running a national campaign in a diverse society. For example, Palin — who has had past associations with reactionary groups — caused a storm earlier when she characterized Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama in seemingly racialist terms: “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.” Such stereotyping suggested that the Alaskan was not aware of the multiracial nature of American politics — an impression confirmed when in her earlier gubernatorial run, she had once suggested that to enter a donut shop was synonymous with meeting an Indian immigrant.

Obama is 100 times more ready than Palin. Obama is more ready than McCain. That's why Obama supporters vote for Obama. And that number seem to be the majority.

Obama gave intelligent answers to questions. Not like the way Palin answered Katie Couric. "Gotchya Journalism"? Nah, Palin just doesn't know, and don't know how to admit what she doesn't know. Always have to pretend that she knows. That's worst attitude Americans want to see. Americans do not like to be fooled. By not admitting what she does not know, Palin was trying to fool people, except it's too plain to see.

Palin's trooper gate verdict proves that she has bad judgement. Shows that she does not know what improper for her to do. Magnifying the risk ten thousand times, how reliable Palin is going to be when McCain let Palin take over for a couple of weeks if McCain is hospitalized? That scenario is very likely.

Palin ready? Ready to give stump speech. Yeah.

sonnychiba72, by defending George Bush's "War on Terror" policies, I guess you are for voting for Bush 3rd term.

Look, if Bush stick to Afgan, we would be alot better off financially. We would have done better job cleaning up Al-Quada. We would have lost few American lives. We would have maintained better reputation internationally.

Because of Bush took war to Iraq, a country unrelated to Al-Quada, pursuing his pre-emptive neo-con doctrine, he threw away American's international reputation. He helped grow terrorism in other parts of the world. With Bush's Iraq War, America is internationally perceived more and more as an Emperialist force than a force for peace and progress. That idea feed terrorism against America. In that sense, Bush Iraq War endangered America with more terrorism.

Because of the unnecessary War on Iraq, America has lost thousands of patriotic lives, has used hundreds of billions dollars on the war that could have better use if the war wasn't there, and has lost precious human resources that could otherwise be building America instead of Iraq.

Convince me Bush had made America better by fighting the Iraq war!! In any sense!

McCain capitalize on our militaries patriotism. Trying to convince voters leaving the Iraq quagmire is unpatriotic, is admitting defeat, wrongs soldiers who lost their lives for America.

The discussion is about how best protect American interest. If Iraq war is exhausting America and there is no-end in sight, the wise move is to end it. Especially when it should not have been started in the first place.

Let's look at the 2 exit strategies regarding Iraq war supported by McCain and Obama. Both have the best interest of America in mind. You have to admit that. 1) Withdraw when we have a pro-America government in Iraq capable of defending itself. 2) Withdraw as soon as possible, since there is no-end in sight in Iraq.

Why would a strategy that saves American lives, resouces, money, by withdrawing from the 2nd Vietnum War unpatriotic or admitting defeat? Is winning above American Interest? How many more years, lives, resources, and money is winning worth? Especially when this Iraq war is not about reducing Terrorism!! It actually created more terrorism.

Overblown on ACORN, maybe Palin should read the following, that is if someone gives her a paper to read!!!

Charges of potential vote fraud volleyed by Republicans, including Sen. John McCain himself, are out of proportion to reality, according to election experts.
The concerns – raised by the Republican National Committee in daily conference calls with reporters, as well as by McCain himself in Wednesday's debate – focus on the nonprofit group Acorn, whose nationwide voter registration efforts have garnered apparently fraudulent registration cards, some for fictional characters like "Mickey Mouse."
Acorn, whose registration efforts generally target poor neighborhoods, "is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy," McCain claimed last night, citing Sen. Barack Obama's ties to the group.
Obama reportedly worked with Acorn when he ran a Chicago-area voter registration drive shortly after graduating from law school, and conducted leadership training with the group. During the primaries, Obama's campaign paid an Acorn-affiliated group $800,000 for get-out-the-vote efforts, which reportedly did not include voter registration. The group's political arm has endorsed Obama's candidacy.
But McCain's voter fraud worries – about Acorn or anyone else – are unsupported by the facts, said experts on election fraud, who recall similar concerns being raised in several previous elections, despite a near-total absence of cases.

"There's no evidence that any of these invalid registrations lead to any invalid votes," said David Becker, project director of the "Make Voting Work" initiative for the Pew Charitable Trusts.
Becker should know: he was a lawyer for the Bush administration until 2005, in the Justice Department's voting rights section, which was part of the administration's aggressive anti-vote-fraud effort.
"The Justice Department really made prosecution of voter fraud of this sort a big priority in the first half of this decade, and they really didn't come up with anything," he said.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well I think you are dumber than your husband if you believe all this. Palin has been inconsequential in the elections. If anything she drove more independants away from her and McCain.
The election is over for these two mavericks. Partially because they were two mavericky and had no viable plans to respond to the real problems and issues of this election.
Instead they chose to tear down their opponent. To instill irrational fear with their lies and inuendo about Obama. This was not the Christian way to go about an election. But then neither one have been very honest about thie campaign. They don't look better trying to make Obama look bad. Sorry!
Palin was found to be guilty of misuse of power by the committee investigating her yet she claims she not only was innocnt but that the committee did not find her guilty of anything. What sort of disconnect from reality is that???
McCain has been erratic. In his management of his campaign and thus the different messages he has tried to convey.
His choice of Palin was dangerous and risky. Certainly poor judgement. Something he claims to excel in. Palin was in over her head and now we all know it.
It's time for her to go home. To wherever she came from. Her divisive and negative attacks just weren't very endearing. Too much like Spiro Agnew. We've all pretty much had a butt full of her contrived cuteness.
Her 15 minutes of fame are over. Part of God's Plan for Ms. Eskimo Pie.
Sarah Palin is the only governor who has a top-secret clearance. Alaska's national guard is on 24 hr. alert. She has executive experience and none of the other 3 candidates do. My husband, who worked for every major defense company in research and development and who has an I.Q. that is off the charts, only voted for McCain-Palin because he believes she is excellent and highly undervalued because of media bias. Let's just say that Katie Couric is not qualified to be president, Sarah is. Bill Clinton made comments that had to upset Obama campaign when he was interviewed and made very positive comments about Palin and called her a "formidable politician." The woman has been the victim of character assassination and the media could not find one thing to pin on her when they sent an army to Alaska to find dirt on her. Even the "partisan circus" in Troopergate could not find any way she benefited financially from the firing of the man who would not fire a renigade trooper or cooperate with the governor's policies. The lady has balls.
Focus group of undecided votes on ABC last night showed three or four had moved away from McCain BECAUSE of his VP candidate. Interesting statistic because only six people were there, or eight maybe with the reporter. So Palin's been an asset in terms of igniting the base of the party but the base of the party doesn't make a majority of voters. And the base that feels Palin is White House ready is even smaller than that.
Obama just doesn't get it. Many complain that George Bush is always "terrorists" craZy and that is his main agenda but the threat is real. Due to his diligence, there hasn't been any more attacks on American soil since 9/11. George Bush has made many mistakes as President but he has kept America safe within our own borders and I think many Americans have overlooked this fact.
The economy of America is serious. It is an issue. But what good is a strong economy if suicidal bombers are killing people? We Americans cannot let our guard down.
So, we must ask, which of the two, Barack Obama or John McCain is the BEST to keep Americans safe at home? Foreign policy is great but what about on our own soil? Will we be safe?
We can never forget about 9/11. If we elect Obama President, will we be safe? If we elect John McCain President, will we be safe?
Obama is more suited for the international community than McCain. Because McCain is viewed as a continuation of Bush, subscribing to the pre-emptive neo-conservative doctrine.
If you want to solve problems on an international level, you have to negociate. No country want Bush 3rd term to play in the international theatre.
So experience doesn't mean everything. It is also a matter of attitude, stance and ideology.
For one thing, I can comment upon this: Every country in the world wants to see Obama as President. I read the article. The media put this article out there. OK. Why does every country want to see Obama as President? Because he is the weaker of the two. We all know this. He is weaker than John McCain. While Osama's henchmen plot another attack on US soil, they know if Obama is President, it will be easier to carry out. Former FBI agents even have written such reports, so do your homework! It is all on the net.
Putin said that Bush orchestrated the Georgia uprising so that McCain can be elected. Russia invaded Georgia. We all know that John McCain has said for years that Russia will raise it's ugly head again and it has. Ukraine, Poland, Georgia and all the old former occupied Soviet states are at risk.
Obama will sit down unconditionally and meet with these people. He stated it and it is a known fact. Yes, I always go to FactCheck and check out things before I believe them and he said it! Obama will meet with leaders of rogue states and terrotist organizations unconditionally.
America does not need a weak President. Obama has received money from Palestine, from Saudi Arabia and from other Arab countries under ficticious names, such as "Good Will", etc. It is a fact. Yes, he got caught with his finger in the dike, so he gave the money back. Read about the two Palestinian Brothers who bought all the Obama T-Shirts!
I know the facts. I know that Barack Obama is not qualified to be the President of the United States because his philosophy is not in line with our country's security and safety. He hasn't a clue as what to do. Obama is like a 90 day wonder in the military. A command is given to a college grad but they don't have any experience in the field. They may be a Lieutenant or a Captain in rank but they don't know how to lead. A 90 day wonder and that is what Obama is. He has been glorified by the media. Hillary Clinton should be the standard bearer of the Deomocratic Party. The 90 day wonders got many soldiers in the field killed in Vietnam. Believe me, I know.
with an attitude that Obama voters are just "trying to be COOL", I am quoting what you wrote here, how can you tell me you seriously know why people are voting for Obama?! Without knowing this side of the story, how can you say you know both sides??
You complained about Obama supporters calling McCain and Palin "stupid, senile, crazy, ditzy, etc". Everyone knows what McCain supporters called Obama. I am not going there to make a point. Just taking what you said about Obama supporters as merely "trying to be COOL". That undertone of childishness, uninformed, unthoughtful decision is obvious. How is your dismissive tone any different from those people calling McCain, Palin "stupid, senile, crazy, ditzy, etc"???
From your posts, it does show that you are making an effort to be independent thinker, trying to be fair. But you are not there yet. You might have registered as Independent voter. That's not what I am talking about. I am talking about independent thinker, not being fooled by propaganda from any side.
Sarah Palin - the only relevant thing about her is her is her absolute irrelevance. For that radical element that makes up the visceral core of the republican party's base - please turn off the lights when you leave as you are the last ones here. One idea for you anti-intellectual trolls is that you peel off the republican party and create a new gathering place for creation-minded, tongue-speaking, rapture-believing, people of color-hating, division-sowing, hate-inspiring, women-suppressing believers like yourselves. Please do it soon so it will be easier to identify you and to keep our kids away from you because you are quite dangerous.
I am an independent. I've looked at both sides now and have since January. If Hillary Clinton were the Democratic Nominee, I would vote for her. I signed up as her supporter early on. Hillary portrayed Obama as the unqualified candidate that he is. Now, she asks us to vote for him after she tore his playhouse down? It isn't happening.
I am not a racist. If I were asked to select an African American to vote for President, there are many, many other choices out there, other than Barack Hussein Obama. I would vote for Jesse Jackson before I would vote for Obama. God rest her soul, I would vote for Shirley Chisholm, who I think is a great American, before I would vote for Obama. I would vote for Condeleezza Rice for President, who by the way was born in my hometown, Birmingham, Alabama.
I AM AN INDEPENDENT AND I KNOW THE FACTS.
Add to your booklist "Fugitive Son" by Bill Ayers (who - you will probably come to agree once you've compared them - is believed to have written Dreams, for BO) There are tools used to measure plagiarism comparing phraseology, word order, sentence structure etc and the two books compare at over 80%!!
Ayers says American Patriotism "nauseates him", he wants to tear down American democracy as too white-centric, too capitalist, too unfair to the blacks. His entire "education platform" is basically "hate whitey". It is the core ideology of Ayers' Chicago experiment, the CAC, the "small schools workshop" and - not at all surprisingly the rants of Jeremiah Wright and Louis farrakan. It is the essence of Black Liberation Theology. You don't think this crowd handpicked the bumbling Obama, because he was somehow thinking pro-AMerica? Wake up!
sonnychiba72, if you are independent, you should truly look both sides. We know both sides have "finge elements", and people getting upset and behave out of bound.
If you truly look both sides, you would not say voting McCain is out of passion for the country, while voting Obama is just "trying to be COOL". Not until you get the point why both sides are so passionate about thier votes, you are NOT looking both sides, not truly independent. You are merely duped by one side and give up on the other. Just like you said "because many just don't want to hear the crap to justify why they will vote for McCain-Palin".
You are not truly independent. Do not pretend to be one.
As to Obama's past aquaitences, McCain's got a warehouse full of baddies too.
Abe Lincoln: It is my experience that have no vices have few virtues.
And his mentors on how to gouge America via some good ole "patriotic" tax hikes would be the ever-incompetent Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.
Sarah Palin is running for vice-president and she's perfectly qualified.
Barack Obama is running for president and his resume is thinner than mine. In fact, his resume is thinner than most of the people reading this.
Sarah Palin is a sitting US Governor.
Intimidation is used and this is exactly why the polls show Obama ahead because many just don't want to hear the crap to justify why they will vote for McCain-Palin.
America is still a Democracy and even though I don't support Obama, I am not going to call someone stupid for supporting him. I do think people have been blitzed by a biased media and it is the "COOL" thing to SAY I will vote for Obama. In the secrecy of a voting booth or in the privacy of an absentee ballot, we shall see just how cool it really is, very soon!
For the record, I am not a Republican, as I have voted for Democrats in the past. I always vote for the candidate that is best for America in my opinion.
@robertell, just goes to show how misinformed you truly are if you believe Mrs. Palin is a millionaire. Unless there is a Alice condition going on in your mind where $120,000 Combined income from the 2007 tax record of the Palin's translates to ten times that amount. That 120 thousand supports a family of seven, one of whom is severely disabled and requires intensive medical care. Mr. Obama and his supporters get a full media pass for both current radical associations and hate mongering and violence perpetrated against McCain/Palin supporters. Somehow it is totally ignored that we ARE judged, and rightfully so, by our Associations. When I pick a church I find one where the reverend and the congregation reflect MY beliefs. I don't sit for 22 years in a church spouting ideology I do NOT agree with. Mr. Obama has the audacity and hypocrisy to bring up an issue which McCain was absolved of all but a bit of poor judgment 20 years ago, yet anyone who brings up his CURRENT associations is labeled racist and hatemongers. Sheesh! This is the man some people want to give the most powerful job in the world? Give me a break. I may not be 100% onboard with McCain, but I do not want a radical hateful racist bigot who lies about being a "unifier". Mr. Obama lied last night about his contributions to ACORN. He lied about supporting late term abortions. He lied about supporting the withholding of medical care to infants who are born alive after a failed abortion. His lies stack up to a powerful indictment of his character, and when we add, again rightfully so, his CURRENT radical associations we have a horror poised to take our highest office. He is a horror unless some support liars, manipulators, thieves, and corrupt people who do "Pal around with terrorists", Chicago criminals, and PAYS ACORN for voter fraud. How does is registration voter fraud? Well, all those registrations can easily be stuffed into the ballot box if Obama is losing! But, perhaps if it is believed Mr. Bush stole his first election using fraud tit for tat is allowed?
Is there such a thing as the Stupidity Card?
Cuz, well, it's become glaringly apparent that McCain supporters are severely handicapped, mentally, compared to Obama supporters.
Sure, there's any number of statistical studies that prove that Red States have yet to bite the educational apple, the one on the tree of knowledge, but then there's good old common sense.
Take these boards for instance. I'd guess the Obama supporters have 1/5th the grammar issues that McCain supporters struggle with.
My guess is that we're looking at something like a 125-98 advantage on a national basis, IQ wise.
It's like the Plants versus the People.
The thing being that, if the plants win, we'll probably be eating dirt before long....
Which is hyperbole, and a stupid thing to say on my part.
But I do like hope, the rest is just mess!
Do people truly only listen to politicians rather than do a tiny bit of research for facts? We ALL know politicians lie. Yet, when Mr. Obama speaks suddenly it is straight from God to his ear! Who is not rightfully judged by the associations they keep? So, my son could hang out with drug lords, Mexican gangs, Cuban dictators, thieves, etc, and run for the highest office in the world without his "associations" say anything about his character and judgment. Wow! Also, the media pounces on a few hate mongers at McCain/Palin rallies yet completely ignores the VIOLENCE perpetrated against Republican supporters. Go online and do a simple search on Obama supporter violence and some may be deeply shocked by all the media has left out of mainstream "news". Don't believe the candidates, believe the researched facts and cast a responsible, mature, rational and informed vote, regardless WHO turns out to be the better man.
McCain Stood With ACORN Rally In 2006
A goldfish's lifetime ago, Sen. John McCain was happy to accept the honors and acclamation of the Service Employees International Union, People for the American Way, UNITE HERE -- and ACORN.
This is the videotape from McCaints Visit..
http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/10/a_lifetime_ago_sen_john.php
Here he is, on Feb. 20, 2006, telling immigration rights activists at a rally in Miami that they "are what makes America special."
ACORN co-sponsored the rally, and its volunteers surround McCain, and while there's no evidence that McCaint ever formally teamed with the group, the video serves as a reminder that he did not mind being associated with them when the politics of the moment were different.
It's important to know, as you watch this, that ACORN was, to Republican field operatives, a Dirty Word in 2006...and in 2004, but general awareness among politicians and activists of what it does was limited to those who had to deal with its voter registration efforts.
A few weeks ago, House Republicans screamed bloody murder when it appeared as if ACORN would benefit from the bailout bill, although McCaint, President Bush and House Republicans have supported legislation with similar provisions before and they spent billions on the Road Home project, which contracts with ACORN to help provide housing for Katrina refugees.
(You can't say...ah, but ACORN wasn't suspected of doing anything bad earlier... you can't say that because ACORN has been doing what ACORN is accused of doing for several cycles now.)
In 2008, of course, ACORN has become a stand-in not only for the registration fraud allegations, but also for the coincident insinuations that Sen. Obama and his liberal allies are trying to steal the election in battleground states.
Indeed, because "ACORN" has become a national political issue, it will be hard for Republicans to use it as a political wedge issue. Once an attack is associated with a party, it doesn't become an attack; it becomes part of party dogma and can service only party activists.
McCaint had no trouble fraternizing with ACORN in 2006 when their political interests coincided with his. Now, his campaign is writing e-mails in his name bashing ACORN as a tool of the Obama machine.
"We need your help to ensure a fair and honest election"....
McCaint cant even lie about his lies.....
Polls are also a tool of a biased media. If they can convince people that the election is already lost for McCain, they think that some will not vote at all or some with vote for a winner, who in this case will really be the loser. Obama will not fairly win the election.
Due to Obama's ties with ACORN, many states will now be forced by Federal Court to verify every registered voter and many will be disqualified. Look at Ohio. It has already happened there. 200,000 voters will be scrutinized.
2008 will be the Year of Selling of the Presidency only not as many are buying Obama as the media and Democrats think.
looks like Obama supporters are really ticked off about Obama's connections to ACORN and voter fraud....he stole the primary from Hillary with voter fraud votes.
He also lied about his books too he didn't write them "Dreams from my father" was written by William Ayers.
Pro36, Listen.
pro36, McCain just disowned your kind yesterday on the Debate. Your kind is what McCain called "the fringe"! Go listen to what McCain said! If you want McCain to win, be a descent citizen and discuss with your fellow citizens with reasons and facts, not words out of propaganda. Then McCain may be happy to have your support, instead of being ashamed of you and your kind. Save McCain some political capital, would you?
Obama needs to be ripped! He is the one who represented ACORN and pushed for banks to make housing loans to unqualified people. President Bill Clinton started the crisis but Bush is blamed because it took years to fully surface.
John McCain is not George Bush. John McCain is not your everyday Republican. The biased media has crammed Barack Hussein Obama down our throats but come election day, it isn't happening. The more the media forces Obama on people, the more people are moving to the far right. If race was not an issue, it is becoming one to many increasing right wingers. I am a Native American but I would not vote for a Native American if they were not qualified to be President.
Palin is done. She is repeating the same silliness that McCain is. Instead of focusing on how to solve the two major issues, the economy and Wars in Iraq/Afghanistan, Palin continually spits out none relevant issues.
She has really hurt her chances to be involved in future national politics. MARK MY WORDS!
People have to understand why Palin was picked as the VP. She was picked because if McCain loose no-one gets hurt. since McCain is not running again for presidency again this is a win/win situation for him because he is not going to serve his full term anyway. If McCain picked a prominent politician from the Republican party It's a long term lost to the party if they loose. Also a prominent Republican member cannot talk trash like Palin does right now and that's why McCain keeps his mouth shut but let Palin talk all the trash. When he loose all the republican supporters blame will go to her not to McCain. She is an idiot not to understand that.
This whole ACORN thing is a smokescreen for the trailing Republicans to exercise more fake outrage over.
This isn't even about voter fraud, it's a about registration "fraud". Just because some joker gathering signatures for $8 and hour decides to pad his list with "Mickey Mouse" doesn't mean anyone's going to show up at a voting booth with Mickey's forged ID.
Come on, Sarah. The stock market went down over 700 points yesterday and the last time I looked had gone down over 300 today. Retirees lost over Two Trillion in retirement funds before the losses of the last two days. Three quarters of a million were laid off in nine months, and thousands are being laid off today. People are without health care. They have lost homes, pensions, the ability send their children to college or vocational school. And all you can talk about are things like ACORN. Election officials are taking care of ACORN. They are not going to let Mickey Mouse vote. What matters is the economy. People are hurting out here, and some of us, at least, blame the "deregulate everything" philosophy of Bush-Cheney, McCain-Gramm. Answer those charges and tell us what you are going to do to help all the really hurting people out here right now.
Posted by: pro36 | October 16, 2008 12:03 PM | Report abuse
Didn't McCain JUST say last night that it is Obama who is running a negative campaign?
The very next day, not missing a beat,Palin is out there with the fangs and claws. Give us a break!
Second, let's talk about voter fraud.. how about the thousands of "missing" ballots back in 2000. That is actual criminal activity. I agree, ACORN needs to get slapped but it's not voter fraud until Snoopy tries to vote!
Third, you're right Sarah - America is the solution. It is the politicians who are found guilty of violating their state ethics laws by a ** bipartisan ** committee and remain in service who are the problem.
It is people like you Sarah, that have turned us all off to politics and government. Your party is responsible for the biggest gov't in history, the biggest deficit in history and you're out there squealing about "tax and spend" liberals.
A Democrat left us with a surplus, a Republican has buried us 6 feet under.
To be honest, I question who YOU are.
It is really interesting to hear a woman who speaks at Alaskan independent party conventions about Obama's patriotism. Her husband was so active in the party for Alaskan independence. She really need to look in the mirror before she picks up the microphone.
McCain had a slim chance to beat Obama before he picked Palin as his running mate. Soon she will be doing what she like most, killing poor animals for joy(victory ) .
McCain/Palin - MOVE ON!
I keep thinking about Joe the plumber making $250,000. a year,I mean the average plumber with 20yrs experiance in this country make around $60,000. but maybe since McCain has been in on the military bugets for years and use to paying for those $1,500. screwdrivers he doesnt think anything about a plumber that makes $250K a yr. huh?
McCain is a total hypocrite. In 2006 he supported ACORN (http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/10/a_lifetime_ago_sen_john.php), now because he's down in the polls, he's trying to pain this picture of Obama engaging in voter fraud? Please. As for Palin, she is like a trained dog, spitting out nothing but garbage and inciting racist hatred. Does she realize she's being used?
Posted by: foglifter | October 16, 2008 11:56 AM | Report abuse
Why isn't the press given unfettered access to Palin? I think it is because she is too ignorant to be trusted unscripted. It is easier to take the flak for lack of access than it is to turn her loose and deal with the firestorms caused by her ignorance. This choice is but one example of why McCain does not have what it takes to be a world leader.
Please repeat after me, Governor: Voter fraud is significant. Voter registration fraud is insignificant (possibly causing up to hundred fraudulent votes in the nation). If Mickey Mouse is on the voter rolls, he better show up on November 4th with Minnie and Walt Disney to vouch for him, or he won't get to vote. What part of this does Gov. Palin not get?
Posted by: Eugene6 | October 16, 2008 11:52 AM | Report abuse
Sorry Juliet Eilperin but I am tired of reading about how Sarah Palins "RIPS" Barack Obama...the only thing she rips is herself considering all of her own Alaska problems and all of her skeletons in her closet. I wish the Post will stops giving her so much credit. She's got the mentality of a 10th grader.
Posted by: doctormiguel | October 16, 2008 11:48 AM | Report abuse
When I see her on the TV she sounds just like Charlie Browns Teacher. Can't understand what she is talking about.
Did you hear Dan Quayle is giving her advice. From one idiot to another.
Posted by: ccrowley | October 16, 2008 11:45 AM | Report abuse
Every time she opens her mouth she confirms what she thinks of 'average Joes'... that we're not bright enought to not know the difference in 'voter fraud' (her phrase), and voter registration fraud... sheesh! She's just hoping there will be a few listening to her blather that won't hear the difference when she leaves out the crucial word 'registration'...
Posted by: sunhunter | October 16, 2008 11:39 AM | Report abuse
Please could you stop writing headlines like Palin "Rips" Obama, the only "ripping" that should be done is Americans "ripping" Palin over her dishonest denial of accountability for violating an Alaska State Statute on ethics and abuse of power by those who hold office, i.e. a violation of public trust.
Every time Palin lies or acts unethically, have you noticed? Obama doesn't issue a press release and MSM don't run the story "Obama Rips Sarah Palin over Violation of Public Trust, tax avoidance of over $60,000,etc. etc." Sarah Palin is by no stretch of anyone's imagination, a moral compass, I am therefore offended each time I see MSM pander to McCain-Palin's attacks, BEFORE fact-checking, or verifying accuracy with the individual under attack. THAT would be responsible reporting.
Palin's campaign attacks are like McCain's tax policy. When something is not working keep doing more of the same. They want to appeal to their own small clique and leave the rest of the people to vote for Obama.
Does it make sense? Not to me but that is what I see.
