Several New Ads Hitting Airwaves in Battleground States

By Ed O'Keefe
With one week to go until Election Day, here's some of what battleground state voters will see and hear in the next week:

  • The progressive Christian group Matthew 25 Network will air two radio ads on Christian music stations in Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina and Virginia in support of Obama. One of the ads uses Obama's own words about his faith to try to convince Evangelical voters to vote for him: "Kneeling beneath that cross, I felt that I heard God's spirit beckoning me," Obama is heard saying. "I submitted myself to his will and dedicated myself to discovering his truth."

The group cites a poll suggesting that Obama is in a 45-43 percent "statistical dead heat" with John McCain to win the support of born-again Christians. Matthew 25 Network has aired radio and television spots in support of Obama since the summer.

  • The American Federation of Government Employees, one of the largest labor unions representing Federal workers in the Washington, D.C., area, has purchased air time on country, news/talk and sports talk radio stations in Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia to air a radio ad called "Vote Issues, Not Race/Gender."

"There are a hundred good reasons for how you vote this year, and only one bad reason: prejudice. Let's talk about the real issues," AFGE national president John Gage says in the ad. It urges voters to focus on issues including the economy, health care and Social Security instead of doubts about Obama's background.

  • The nonpartisan but labor-backed group Campaign Money Watch says it will spend "six figures" to air its criticisms of the Republican's ties to the gambling industry on national cable networks and on broadcast stations in the Tallahassee, Fla., and Roanoke, Va., markets. "John McCain loves the risk. Betting at casinos, gambling with their lobbyists. And the gambling interests love McCain." News reports suggest McCain has received donations from the gaming industry totaling at least $2 million, since industry leaders fear more regulations from a potential Obama presidency.

  • The Conservative group Let Freedom Ring will expand its $5 million ad buy by another $300,000 and will cycle in new ads that raise questions about Obama's experience. The ads have aired nationally on CNN and Fox News and on broadcast stations in Colorado, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Virginia, but the group may pull out of Colorado. "It doesn't look good in Colorado," LFR director Colin Hanna said of John McCain's chances in the Centennial State.

It has become somewhat apparent that so-called 'battleground states' are states that have an inordinant amount of the so-called 'stupid voters'.
They haven't made up their 'minds' because they seem to be waiting for a candidate to promise them something.
Wow!------------if we could only get rid of 'battleground states'.

"At the Atlantic, Marc Ambinger offers this analysis: "Early voting is very popular in California, and Republicans tend to vote at higher rates than Democrats. More conservative areas of the state tend to vote early; Los Angeles County traditionally has the lowest early-voting rate. Don't know if the above statistics are correct, but if they are, they're not usual for that state... More importantly though, if Republicans believe that the party breakdown of who is voting early is indicative, then what do they think about what is going on in Nevada, Iowa, New Mexico, Ohio, Indiana, and North Carolina? Verdict: Nothingburger.""

Well to many people hundreds of neocon judicial appointments is equally disturbing. We don't want people fixated on a specific ideological dogma of either persuasion interpreting the laws.

How about if we just have judicial appointees who are impartial and leave their political agendas at the courtroom door instead? Although finding impartial judges grows more difficult with each passing year thanks to the culture of division which has been promulgated the past couple of decades.

Results from early voting in California. The Tide is turning. Crimson Tide!

The polls showed Barack Obama with an 18-point lead in California just a few days ago. The results thus far are the complete opposite. ... With nearly 210,000 people having voted, the Democrats have only a 1,000 vote advantage! If we take the liberty of assuming that all Republicans will vote for John McCain and all Democrats will vote for Obama, then the race is incredibly close.

"However, did Michelle and Obama pay the $5 million he spent in Denver for his one night, one time only BIG night to promote himself during the DNC?" This is what I posted and the answer is NO!

NO, the Obamas did not spend the money, as it came from the contributions, same as the $150,000 that was spent on Sarah Palin's cloths.

You and wes and others are really showing how it is done. Obama taught you well. Thanks for helping McCain by showing how Obama and his supporters circumvent the truth!

To be perfectly frank, you are such a transparent tool. Sorry, but that's the facts. Look it up on FactChecker. You and your Seaking the Truth" nonsense. You could care less about the truth and that is the TRUTH.

If you actually believe the blatant lies of someone like Andrew Martin who is a known lunatic and David Corsi, you deserve what you get for a government. Unfortunately the rest of us have to suffer with it like we have for the last eight years.

How do your like you Marxist Republican government now? Maybe you should turn your vast research talents to checking into the deal Paulson has been making with the banks we have been bailing out. He's giving them the money with no precondition to suspend or even lower dividend payments. That wouldn't be such an issue for the small investors or even institutional investors, but the very people who put the banks in the positions they are in also have...guess what? Stock options. And we aren't talking about an insignificant amount. So once again the "Socialist Conservative Republican Administration" is redistributing our wealth.

Why don't you start being concerned about the REAL truth happening today rather than your delusional conspiracy theories. That is if even you actually believe them.

flavio, I agree, 4 points my A$$! It is much closer than that. All the double digit crap is just hype and just the media trying to convince people that Obama has already won.

The Bradley Effect is much more powerful this time around! Why? All African-Americans do not support Obama but they are unwilling to say this in a poll because they are already branded as "traitors and Uncle Toms." Many white people are also unwilling to say in in a poll that they are not going to vote Obama because they are already branded as "racists" if they don't vote Obama.

When asked in the polls, "Are you a registered voter?" In this day and time, most people who are not will not say, "NO, I'm not," so who they say they will vote for doesn't matter, regardless.

Hillary Backers Decry Massive Obama Vote Fraud

    Monday, October 27, 2008 10:45 AM

By: Kenneth R. Timmerman Article Font Size

With accusations of voter registration fraud swirling as early voting begins in many states, some Hillary Clinton supporters are saying: “I told you so.”

Already in Iowa, the Obama campaign was breaking the rules, busing in supporters from neighboring states to vote illegally in the first contest in the primaries and physically intimidating Hillary supporters, they say.

Obama’s surprisingly strong win in Iowa, which defied all the polls, propelled his upstart candidacy to front-runner status. But Lynette Long, a Hillary supporter from Bethesda, Md., who has a long and respected academic career, believes Obama’s victory in Iowa and in 12 other caucus states was no miracle. “It was fraud,” she told Newsmax.

Long has spent several months studying the caucus and primary results.

Go back in time. During the Clinton Administration, Bill Clinton pushed Fannie Mae to lower it's standards to make housing loans available to low income minorities.

Go back in time. Obama, as a community organizer and as an Illinois State Senator, together with ACORN, pushed for lowering of standards for housing loans to minorities.

Back to the Future. The Wall Street failure has much to do with the defaults on housing loans which were made to people who could never repay the loans. It took more than 8 years to catch up, but it did.

Democrats SHARE in the American economic crisis. It is time they were also held responsible.

I read many contents online, not just here, and based on what I read, Obama supporters are ready to hand the keys to our great nation over to a group of people who will try and destroy the very fabric of democracy and the US Constitution.

The only candidate in this election who ever killed a baby himself is John McCain. All four candidates would like to see the underlying economic reasons for abortion ameliorated. The problem has only gotten worse under Bush. Results matter more than intentions.

Obama lives the kind of personal life right wing evangelicals preach, but may, or may not, live. Jesus saw the good in people who couldn't see the good in each other, and was condemned for his associations by people who assumed themselves to be morally superior. He did take a whip to the moneylenders though, but he was kind to the commonly despised.

Milton Friedman's pure free market economic theory proselytizers, and their popular hero, Reagan, have left a trail of carnage everywhere they were allowed to carry out their experiments. Those experiments are starting to take their toll here in America.

Jeffery Sachs was one of their strongest adherents, but now he concedes that social welfare states have the best economies, highest standards of living, and are best equipped to meet the challenges of today and the future.

Obama's views are racist. The Supreme Court should have not only granted Civil Rights but they should have taken the money from "white" people and distributed it to the poor blacks. Because there isn't any provision in the Constitution for this to happen, the Founding Fathers of America have restricted what Obama wants to do.

AFGE's ad reminds us that this campaign has seen little attention to Social Security. With all the criticism that John McCain has been giving to "socialistic" tendencies, it's noteworthy that Social Security and its future has remained merely a stealth issue. But of course Bush-McCain's privatization option by exposing whatever may still be called Social Security to the stock market continues to live.

Meanwhile, going the other way, from private enterprise to bailout and serial nationalization at taxpayers' expense, we have big banks, a whopping insurance company, and auto industry supplicants.

These people believe the Weather Underground is "cool." Did it ever disband? Obama could be a secret member for all we know.

The members of the Weather Underground have been attempting to infiltrate the Democratic National Committee for decades - they were at the Democratic National Committee during Bill Clinton's transition period in 1992 - 1993. The Washington Post really should track these people and see what they have been up to - one thing they have been doing is mentoring Obama.

    yea.

I find this entire development quite concerning - CHRIS IF YOU ACTUALLY READ WILLIAM AYERS' WRITINGS FROM THE 60s - Ayers says he wants to create an alliance with the forces of Black Liberation Theology and destroy America from that direction.

Even MSNBC this morning was slamming the New York Times on media bias - that is hilarious however the problem has been so severe they cannot deceive anymore and having Joe and Mika admit and discuss it is at least a first step.

Chris - let's see you do ONE PIECE on the philosophy of the Church of Black Liberation Theology - how they see everything through "white values" and "black values" and REMIND EVERYONE THEY ARE TEACHING THEIR CHILDREN THIS NONSENSE. Then remind everyone that Obama gave the Church of Black Liberation Theology $20,000.00 in one year.

Obama has slipped to a 4 point lead and it will be even less as the week goes by and McCain will prevail. Why? Obama's 2001 interview about how he disagrees with the Founding Fathers of America set up of the US Constitution and how it limits the redistribution of wealth. Obama cannot uphold the Constitution of the USA because he does not even believe in it himself.

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and the other Founding Fathers wrote the US Constitution and it is the Foundation of Our Country. Informed Americans will never vote for a person like Obama who wants to destroy it.

People can bad mouth George Bush all they like. They can bad mouth John McCain and Sarah Palin all they like because it is their priviledge. It is freedom of speech. However, all of them are Americans who have always upheld the US Constitution. Like them, love them, hate them but they are not traitors to the very foundation of America. Obama has proven that he is. In his own words. Obama is the poster child of the radical left wing that seeks to destroy America from within. This is the change that the American people will never allow. In your dreams, Obama.

Brokaw Nails McCain On Taxing The Wealthy, Reagan's Record:

Brokaw was dead on yesterday in his interview with McCain, holding the candidate's feet to the fire. In this mashup, Brokaw plays two clips, one of McCain in 2000 explicitly voicing his support for increasing taxes on the wealthy, and another from 2004 when he defended his opposition to Bush's tax cuts on the grounds that they disproportionately benefited the wealthy. When McCain tries to weasel his way out by claiming Herbert Hoover was the last person to raise taxes during a recession, Brokaw is quick to point out that his hero Ronald Reagan actually raised taxes in his first two years. Needless to say McCain bumbles and stumbles in the face of reality.

McCAIN: The last time a president of the United States that did that was a guy named Herbert Hoover, protectionism and raising taxes.

BROKAW: Well, Ronald Reagan raised taxes as well, after the first two years in office.

McCAIN: Not in these times. Not in times--not in economic times like these.

BROKAW: Well, right after the recession he did, in the first two years of his office.

McCAIN: Well, look, I would be glad to review the Reagan record, but the Reagan record was certainly one that reined in spending.

WASHINGTON — Two young men who are believers in “white power” have been arrested and charged in Tennessee in what federal officials described as a plan to assassinate Senator Barack Obama and kill black children at a school.

The two men “planned to drive their vehicle as fast as they could toward Obama shooting at him from the windows,” according to an affidavit filed in federal court in Jackson, Tenn., by an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The assassination was to be the culmination of a “killing spree” that would also single out children at an unnamed, predominately black school, federal officials said. The men talked of “killing 88 people and beheading 14 African-Americans,” according to the affidavit.

"So, look, here's what I really believe, that when you are -- reach a certain level of comfort, there's nothing wrong with paying somewhat more. But at the same time, that shouldn't be totally out of proportion. There's some countries such as Sweden where it doesn't pay anything to work more than six months a year. That's probably the extreme.

But I think the debate in this country is more about tax cuts rather than anything else. And frankly, I think the first people who deserve a tax cut are working Americans with children that need to educate their children, and they're the ones that I would support tax cuts for first."

Republicans have no problem killing children, as long as they aren't American children, and you're bombing them from the air.

Republicans believe in socialism, as long as it's only applied to the already-wealthy, i.e. bail-out CEOs.

Republicans believe in welfare, as long as it's applied to businesses (gov't handouts, no-bid contracts).

Republicans have no problem with Sarah Palin's tax and spend plans she's already implemented in Alaska - that makes her a maverick -- 89% of the price of a barrel of oil is Alaskan taxes, which spread the wealth among Alaskan citizens. That's why you're paying so much for gas. For Alaskan welfare.

In caucus after caucus, Obama bused in supporters from out of state, intimidated elderly voters and women, and stole election packets so Hillary supporters couldn’t vote. Thanks to these and other strong-arm tactics, Obama won victories in all but one of the caucuses, even in states such as Maine where Hillary had been leading by double digits in the polls.

What is it about Republicans from Alaska?

Palin is given a $150,000 wardrobe, which she picked out and she wears, but then she claims she doesn't own it and doesn't wear it.

Stevens was given furniture, but then he claims he doesn't own it, yet it still sits in his home.

Stuff is given to them, but they don't own it? Steven and Palin must attend the same seminars on electoral ethics, or is this just a Alaska Republican thing?

McCain guru linked to subprime crisis
By LISA LERER | 3/28/08 2:06 PM EDT

The general co-chairman of John McCain’s presidential campaign, former Sen. Phil
Gramm (R-Texas), led the charge in 1999 to repeal a Depression-era banking
regulation law that Democrat Barack Obama claimed on Thursday contributed
    significantly to today’s economic turmoil.

“A regulatory structure set up for banks in the 1930s needed to change because the nature of business had changed,” the Illinois senator running for president said in a New York economic speech. “But by the time [it] was repealed in 1999, the $300 million lobbying effort that drove deregulation was more about facilitating mergers than creating an efficient regulatory framework.”

Gramm’s role in the swift and dramatic recent restructuring of the nation’s
investment houses and practices didn’t stop there.

A year after the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act repealed the old regulations, Swiss Bank
UBS gobbled up brokerage house Paine Weber. Two years later, Gramm settled in as a vice chairman of UBS’s new investment banking arm.

Later, he became a major player in its government affairs operation. According to federal lobbying disclosure records, Gramm lobbied Congress, the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department about banking and mortgage issues in 2005 and 2006.

For his work, Gramm and two other lobbyists collected $750,000 in fees from UBS’s American subsidiary. In the past year, UBS has written down more than $18 billion in exposure to sub-prime loans and other risky securities and is considering cutting as many as 8,000 jobs.

Norway has the highest standard of living per capita in the world. Northern European countries see themselves in each other better than we do, largely due to the uniformity of their demographics, so they don't want to see each other suffer poverty. Americans often have to overcome ethnic differences to see their common well being with those in other economic circumstances.

The poorest countries in the world are failed under regulated "free market" experiments. If we stay our present course we're headed there too.

Rich guys like Welch have had sycophantic followers since before the book of Ecclesiastes was written. You're right about him being a money magnet. He's got tons of money stuck to him that should have been paid to the people whose work produced it.

The people who are on top in the status quo plus those who are tempted with visions of riches they may never obtain, don't want us to use our legitimate power of government by the people to help the people get what was theirs in the first place. To divide us they call our advocates emotion charged names like "socialist".

Welch will never want for "friend" and admirers who are attracted to the wealth he controls. Many of us are more interested in what we can contribute than what we can brag about having beaten out of others.

It could be very interesting for you to look up Naomi Klein "Shock Doctrine" if you want to add a broader context to your arguments.

I'm becoming less vulnerable to eminence intimidation from guys like Jack Welch. I do meet them from time to time, and it's funny how accustomed they are to getting off easy.

Hopefully, some of his campaign promises will be kept and real change will be brought to this country as we sorely need it.

Obama's historic election will also bring hope to millions of inner city youths who have, up until now, only had desperate times to look forward to -- now they'll finally realize that yes, any American can be president, even a black man.

It may inspire them to turn away from a crime-filled drug-ridden life and further themselves to doing something worthwhile with their lives.

McCain - Founding Member of the Keating 5:

McCain was one of the "Keating Five," congressmen investigated on ethics charges for strenuously helping convicted racketeer Charles Keating after he gave them large campaign contributions and vacation trips.

Charles Keating was convicted of racketeering and fraud in both state and federal court after his Lincoln Savings & Loan collapsed, costing the taxpayers $3.4 billion. His convictions were overturned on technicalities; for example, the federal conviction was overturned because jurors had heard about his state conviction, and his state charges because Judge Lance Ito (yes, that judge) screwed up jury instructions. Neither court cleared him, and he faces new trials in both courts.)

McCain intervened on behalf of Charles Keating after Keating gave McCain at least $112,00 in contributions. In the mid-1980s, McCain made at least 9 trips on Keating's airplanes, and 3 of those were to Keating's luxurious retreat in the Bahamas. McCain's wife and father-in-law also were the largest investors (at $350,000) in a Keating shopping center; the Phoenix New Times called it a "sweetheart deal."

McCain was not convicted of any crimes, though the Senate concluded that he exercised "poor judgment." (Furthermore, he got off on some charges by a technicality -- that he was still in the House when he took those vacation trips, and so the Senate couldn't prosecute him. The House concluded that THEY couldn't prosecute him because he had moved to the Senate.)

Here's some mavericky straight-talk, my friends:

It is also fair to say the vast majority is rooting for a Republican defeat. If you don’t believe me you clearly don’t read anything.

How did we get to this place and time? How did a freshman Senator inspire millions of voters to finance his unlikely campaign? Why is he leading in the polls? How did this happen?

Well, I’ll tell you how it happened for me.

I was one of those who had doubts about the Iraq war. I did not believe that Iraq was an imminent threat to the United States. Not that Saddam was a good guy ( he wasn’t) however there are lots of bad guys in the world who are not an imminent threat to us whom we don’t attack. We were already flying over his country everyday. There was a tight embargo. Unless he had nuclear weapons how big a threat could he be?

The Administration then lied to us about Saddam and his weaponry.. Further, it sent out a duped Colin Powell to convince us. Bush knew we would believe Colin. So the United States of America, beacon of liberty, attacked a third world country, destroyed its hapless military, made rubble of its infrastructure and occupied it.

Later the lies came out. There were no dangerous weapons. Just fudged intelligence.

The Dems swept into control of Congress in 2006. Bush’s veto could override a 51-49 majority in the Senate so the war went on. Notwithstanding every indication that the majority of Americans didn’t want this war to continue, it went on anyway with no end date. I watched the war go on. I watched as we tortured prisoners, suspended Habeas Corpus and shredded the Constitution. I watched as Bush politicized the Justice Department and placed incompetent political hacks in high office. Then the economy collapsed.

So here we are. Tens of millions of us have made this journey starting a different places for different reasons; a journey which began with a distaste and disgust with Bush to a point where we may take our country back. Tens of millions have worked hard, made whatever donations we could afford and are already voting in many states.

The whole world is rooting for us to succeed. The whole world needs an America they can look up to again.

    MAKE SURE YOU VOTE!

    :-)

Confirmed: MSM Holds Video Of Barack Obama Attending Jew-Bash & Toasting a Former PLO Operative... Refuse to Release the Video!

LA Times writer Peter Wallsten wrote about Barack Obama's close association with former Palestinian operative Rashid Khalidi back in April.
Wallsten discussed a dinner held back in 2003 in honor of Khalidi, a critic of Israel and advocate for Palestinian rights.
Barack Obama has denied his close association with Khalidi, too.
According to Wallsten the evening not surprisingly turned into a classic Jew-bash:
"During the dinner a young Palestinian American recited a poem accusing the Israeli government of terrorism in its treatment of Palestinians and sharply criticizing U.S. support of Israel. If Palestinians cannot secure their own land, she said, "then you will never see a day of peace."
One speaker likened "Zionist settlers on the West Bank" to Osama bin Laden, saying both had been "blinded by ideology."
Barack Obama also praised the former PLO operative during the event.
And, Obama confessed that his family often shared dinner with the Khalidis:
His many talks with the Khalidis, Obama said, had been "consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases... It's for that reason that I'm hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation -- a conversation that is necessary not just around Mona and Rashid's dinner table," but around "this entire world."
...The event was videotaped, and a copy of the tape was obtained by The (LA)Times.
Khalidi and the Obamas were great friends in Chicago and often shared meals together.
By the way, Khalidi was also best friends with Bill Ayers.
Wallston was one of the few mainstream media reporters to report on this radical Obama associate.

Wallston said that the article was written after he watched video taken at the Khalidi going away party. When I asked him about the video he said that as far as he was concerned he was through with the story.

I asked him if he was planning on releasing this video of Obama toasting the radical Khalidi at this Jew-bash. He told me he was not releasing the video. He also would not comment on his source for the video. So, there you have it.
The LA Times has video of Obama toasting a former PLO operative at a Jew-bash but will not release the video.
    This is outrageous.
Obviously, this video would do great damage to Obama who struggles with Jewish voters due to his circle of close anti-Semitic friends.
Maybe this is the reason it is not being released?
Barack Obama funnelled thousands of dollars of cash to Rashidi's anti-Israel Foundation through his work on the Woods Fund.
