The Daily Show's Early Call

No actual news operation has benefitted as much from this election cycle as has Comedy Central's faux newscast "The Daily Show." Last week alone "Daily Show" nearly doubled its usual audience when Barack Obama appeared on the show via satellite.

On election night, "The Daily Show" went live at 10 p.m., with "Indecision 2008: America's Choice," joining networks with actual news divisions, to cover elections results as they filtered in. And, just like CNN, at 11(ish) p.m., faux-anchor Jon Stewart called the presidential race for Obama, after which he and his staff of faux correspondents wondered what life would be like in a post-campaign world.
