Obama Pledges to Create 2.5 Million Jobs

By Lori Montgomery

President-elect Barack Obama has instructed his economic team to develop a plan to create 2.5 million jobs over the next two years, suggesting that he intends to push a more expensive package to stimulate the economy than he has so far proposed.

Speaking during the Democrats' weekly radio address, Obama said that his team would work out the details of the package in the coming weeks but that he expects to present it to Congress in January and to sign it into law soon after taking office.

It will be a two-year nationwide effort to jump-start job creation in America and lay the foundation for a strong and growing economy, Obama said. "We'll put people back to work rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges, modernizing schools that are failing our children, and building wind farms and solar panels," as well as fuel-efficient cars.

I like the idea of taxing the super-rich like Streisand, Kennedy, Rockerfeller, Kohl and especially Kerry.

It is time that they pay their fair share instead of talking all their BS!

Not enough credit is being given to the high gas prices this past year and it's serious damage on our economy and society. That one factor alone has caused serious stress in both individuals and businesses. A record number of homes and jobs have been lost as a direct result. And, while we are doing the happy dance around the lower prices at the pumps OPEC is announcing cuts to manipulate the prices upward again. We must get on with becoming energy independent. We can't take another year like this past. There is a wonderful new book out about the energy crisis and what it would take for America to become energy independent. It covers every aspect of oil, what it's uses are besides gasoline, our reserves, our depletion of it. Every type of alternative energy is covered and it's potential to replace oil. He even has proposed legislative agenda's that would be necessary to implement these changes along with time frames. This book is profoundly informative and our country needs to become more informed and move forward with becoming energy independent. Green technology would not only provide clean cheap energy it would create millions of badly needed new jobs. The Book is called The Manhattan Project of 2009 Energy Independence NOW. Our politicians all need to read this book.

Obama had emphasized the principle of "one president at a time", but has responded, appropriately in my view, to pressure from all sides not to let the nation drift for two months in the midst of a financial crisis of enormous proportions. This is particularly important because emergence from the crisis will involve a major psychological component - a sense by consumers and lenders that someone is taking charge, and embarking on a course with a clear view of how it will eventually restore our financial health. As a scientist, I would only add that the plan to include alternative energy jobs in the restoration is welcome as a response to a crisis that is less apparent in the short run, but ultimately likely to be more threatening - damage to the welfare of civilizations by unabated warming resulting from the continued use of fossil fuels on a massive scale.

He wants to create 2.5 million jobs and he wants to give everyone earning under $250,000. a tax cut.

Something does not compute?

It appears to me that he must raise taxes on everyone making over $125,000.

I do have a suggestion that could gather great support, he could confiscate the estates of the Democratic multi-millionaires like Cindy Pritzker, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, John Rockerfeller, Barbara Streisand and Senator Kohl. They have what many of us dream of and know we will never reach.

These individuals talk about sharing the wealth that individuals earn but they hire lawyers and accountants and lobbyists to protect what they have.

It is time they reap what they sow!

“Rule one: Never allow a crisis to go to waste,” Mr. Emanuel said in an interview on Sunday.“They are opportunities to do big things.”

This is the CRISIS that OBAMA and clan have been waiting for!!!!!!

Obama is okay with people losing their jobs from the private sectors. He is okay with the private sectors closing down!!!! That will be the death of capitalism which is exactly what OBAMA wants!!!!

This is EXACTLY the change he is LOOKING FOR!!!!!

As proof, he is creating jobs that are all funded by the government. After all of the PRIVATE sectors have closed down, all businesses will be funded by the government!!!! And this is the way he wants it!!! GOVERNMENT-CONTROLLED!!!!

This is the CHANGE We NEED!!!!!
Yes, we can!!!!!

LOL! :-D

What a Maroon!

I could create TWICE that many, in 6 Months, and MAKE $$$$$ doing it-If I had the federal authority to that the Messiah soon will.

See, when work is done, but it is not documented, pay-rolled and Taxed-It does not REALLY exist!

But all the Burdens associated with a Worker doing it-Utilities, Child costs, Emergency Care, Etc., -DO!

Give me just 500 Federal Agents, who only need a Ticket Book, and the ability to question Construction, Landscape, Automotive, and Service Workers for their ID's-Then follow up with writing Thousand Dollar Fines to the Employer of the one's who fail to identify(And that's all Folks!), and MILLIONS of Jobs, and COMPETITIVE WAGES, will Magically re-Appear!

Word WILL get out that the SCAM is OVER, and the Magnet will STOP!

But, then;

I'm a SAINT,

Not a Phony Messiah! ;~)

Os package will not help the economy over the long haul.those jobs he is talking about will no happen till way after he gets in office he said by 2011 that means he will have been in office 1 yr before you notice any jobs available, and they will all be minimum wage variety, this guy lies so much he cant be trusted on any issues,i'm slowly getting disapointed with him and he is nt actually the pres yet.i bet i will really be disapointed with him when he does get there.
