The Bidens and Cheneys Meet and Greet

Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne Cheney, and Vice President-elect Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, met today at the vice president's residence in Washington before both issuing brief, innocuous statements.

From the pool report, with minor modifications:

The Bidens' SUV pulled up at the covered driveway at 5 p.m. as the Cheneys came out to greet them on the porch for the tour.

"Hey folks, how are you?" Joe Biden said to the press after exiting the rear passenger-side front door of the SUV.

Biden greeted Cheney, "Mr. Vice President, how are you doing?"

"Joe, how are you?" Cheney replied, offering congratulations on Biden's victory last week.

Biden waited for Jill Biden to exit the SUV and joined her as they walked up the steps to where the smiling Cheneys waited to greet them.

Mrs.Cheney arranged the foursome for the front-porch photo: Left to right: Vice President Cheney, Mrs. Cheney, Mrs. Biden, Vice President-elect Biden.

Biden told the pool he previously only has been on the downstairs level at the residence.

With that, they entered for the tour, and pool was disbanded.

At 6:05 p.m., Megan Mitchell of the vice president's office issued a statement.

"Vice President Cheney and his wife Lynne were pleased to welcome Vice President-elect Biden and his wife Jill to the Naval Observatory this afternoon," it said. "It was a good visit. The Cheneys enjoyed giving the Bidens a tour of the residence and wished them well as they make it their home in January. The meeting lasted a little over 50 minutes."

Later, Biden's spokesperson also issued a statement. "The Vice President-elect and Dr. Jill Biden met with Vice President Cheney and his wife Lynne at the Naval Observatory this evening. The Bidens thank the Cheneys for welcoming them into their home and for their gracious hospitality," said Elizabeth Alexander.

My question is, have the Bidens been photographed since they entered the lair, I mean, house? We're sure they actually made it out?

If the President BUSH and Vice President Cheyney are not held responsible for their criminal actions while in office, there is no need for America to celebrate anything.

Holding people accountable is the only thing that will both alow American to move passed it's current decline, and make sure no other President can be so radical and anti-democratic!

I'm frankly surprised that Cheney didn't tell him to F&*% off!

i think of the song that john lennon wrote to take a swipe at paul mccartney: "how do you sleep"? i think joe should have sung that song to cheney as they advanced circle of alighieri's hell is reserved for mr. & mrs. c...both hyper-extreme members of the far right...who did nothing but harm this country, it's institutions and traditions...

I wonder if Biden will allow the VP residence to be shown on Google Earth...

Perhaps more joyous than seeing W gone back to his ranch is the disapperance of the scary Cheney. Let's hope that he will build himself a private bunker and we don't have to hear from him again.

It would probably be fascinating from Biden's point of view to hear what the vice president had to stay in terms of the current state of US foreign relations. Not that Biden would agree with Cheney's point of view, I just doubt that many Democrats have had the opportunity to hear Cheney's side of the story or what the moviations were for such unusual policies.

LOL! :-D

Remove Biden's Transplants, and you'd realize how much these two are actually alike!

Cheney must be thinking: "Gawd! Am I GLAD I never tried getting Plugs!"

That, and: "I wonder if Joe likes to Hunt?"

I'm thinking preparation H or a laxative would have been more pleasant than that visit.

Talk about fake smiles. Looks like they would rather be kissing a goat than be in the same room. Cheney looks like he will need a defibrillator after that visit.
