Ill. AG Files Motion to Oust Blagojevich

By Garance Franke-Ruta
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan today filed a motion with the Illinois Supreme Court asking it to strip the power to govern from scandal-tarred Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D), who has thus far resisted calls for resignation from President-elect Barack Obama, all 50 Democratic U.S. senators, and many others.

Madigan, who also has called for Blagojevich to step down, is holding a news conference in Chicago to discuss her unusual motion asking the high court to remove Blagojevich's powers.

"State government is paralyzed by a governor who is incapable of governing," she said. She asked the court to appoint Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn (D) as interim governor.

Can't imagine Blago lasting through the end of the month - or even Christmas for that matter.

And another major development in the scandal goes by without fast reaction from Obama...
