Cabinet Guessing Game Nearing an End

By Ben Pershing
The parlor game of guessing Barack Obama's Cabinet picks is sadly nearing its end, as almost every position is now filled. Tom Vilsack and Ken Salazar are set to be named today to head Agriculture and Interior, respectively. (If you're keeping track, the Cabinet is still without a southerner. Didn't Obama win Virginia and North Carolina?)

That leaves just a few openings at the the Cabinet level, including Labor and Transportation. One person who won't be taking a job with the Obama administration: Xavier Becerra, who is no longer interested in being U.S. Trade Representative because, he told the editorial board of La Opinion, trade issues "would not be priority No. 1, and perhaps, not even priority No. 2 or 3" for the new administration. Remember that strategy the next time you get a job offer (and it's not clear that the job was ever really offered to Becerra) -- don't just turn down the offer, but insult the prospective employer in the process! They'll be teaching that one in business school for a long time.

Since Hillary Clinton did not "pull a Becerra" and is, in fact, leaving the Senate to join the administration, the search for her successor grinds on. Caroline Kennedy got some vocal support yesterday from Harry Reid, who cited both Clinton and Kennedy's uncle in pointing out, "We have a lot of stars from New York." He also noted that "she's 52 years old." What more do you need to hear? That should quiet any suggestion she's unqualified.

Obama has not and refuses to prove to America that he is eligible as a “natural born citizen,” as required by Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution to be President of the United States. Instead Obama has had three law firms (firms, not lawyers) on retainer since the day he was elected to public office and throughout his presidential campaign to make sure that the public does not get access to his birth records in Hawaii or his college transcripts from Occidental College and Harvard.

The question of Obamas' eligibility MUST be pursued because if Obama turns out to be nothing but an usurper acting in the guise of “the President,” Obama will not constitutionally be the “Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States”(see Article II, Section 2, Clause 1). Therefore, he will be entitled to no obedience whatsoever from anyone in those forces. Indeed, for officers or men to follow any of his purported “orders” will constitute a serious breach of military discipline—and in extreme circumstances perhaps even “war crimes.” In addition, no one in any civilian agency in the Executive Branch of the General Government will be required to put into effect any of Obama’s purported “proclamations,”“executive orders,” or “directives.”

Xavier Becerra turned down the appointment as Trade Representative because he could not answer the questions regarding his role in obtaining a pardon from President Clinton, for a major cocaine trafficking figure from Los Angles, in exchange for large campaign contributions

Do us all a favor, you have the passion to chase this all the way down the rabbitt hole. Please chase it down. I just want to see that you posted an apology when you complete your investigation. Or, are you just a hollow voice on the digital wind?

That guessing game may be over, but the question remains whether Obama is even a "natural born" citizen. Talk about putting the cart before the horse. I hope Keyes files a lawsuit as to every nomination, appointment, treaty, legislation, and purported executive order.
