Obama: Person of the Year

By Howard Schneider
Longshot steamrolls into the White House, erasing racial barriers in the process, rejuvenating America's image, and bringing campaign organization into the Internet age.

Is there any surprise that President-elect Barack Obama is Time magazine's Person of the Year for 2008? As the magazine says in its main essay on the incoming commander-in chief, "He hit the American scene like a thunderclap, upended our politics, shattered decades of conventional wisdom and overcame centuries of the social pecking order."

The runners-up may have offered good sport. Like Obama overhauled American politics, Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. rewrote the rules of American capitalism over the last year. And just like Obama broke through a long unassailable barrier, Alaska Gov. and Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin pushed the political envelope for women.

But overlook Obama for the likes of French President Nicolas Sarkozy? Nah...

Obama has not produced a birth "certificate" he has produced a useless document called a "Certification of Live Birth". So it does not matter if factcheck has held and fondled the "Certification" it is, unfortunately, not evidence that Obama was born in Hawaii. Here is a Hawaii website that explains why the "Certification" is not used and requires production of the actual certified copy of the birth "certificate". There are those that say he cannot produce a copy of the original. Not true. This site shows the form and how to fill it out. All Obama needs to do is sign it and send in a check for $10.00 and he could produce it. Read pages 7-11:

http://hawaii.gov/dhhl/applicants/Loaa%20Ka%20Aina%20Hoopulapula.pdf

Note, the difference between the "Certification" and the "Certificate". Only a document stamped "Certificate" would include the name of the hospital, doctors and witnesses. Verifiable facts left off the "Certification".

THe Birfers will never learn.

Even though a legitimate birth certificate stating that he was born in Honolulu has been presented, they still quibble.

Even though he was born at 7:30 pm on August 4, and the document was filed with the register on August 8, they will not speculate on how his mother traveled from Kenya to Honolulu with a newborn in hand to file this document.

Even though the local newspapers posted birth announcements a few days later, they still refuse to accept that he was born in Hawaii.

Well, most of them do. Others accept that he was born in Hawaii, yet they argue that because his father was Kenyan, he is ineligible, in direct contradiction of the 14th amendment and numerous Supreme Court cases upholding this amendment.

Then there is the “He’s an Indonesian Citizen” sect (Splitters!). They believe that somehow, in direct opposition to U.S. law and legal precedent, Obama renounced his U.S. citizenship as a minor.

They are all losers.

People keep arguing against Obama's citizenship, "yes but" this and "yes but" that. When the "yes-buts" are answered, someone else replys with a statement that shows they don't know about all the other anti-birth claims which have been (repeatedly)disqualified. We go around and around and around and around.

One of many examples: If you listen to the "grandmother tape",claiming Kenyan birth( I think it was his aunt, not his grandmother, but anyway) or read the COMPLETE transcript, his relatives (whose qualifications for accuracy you feel are unimpeachable) say he was not born in Kenya, but in the United States, Hawaii.

Berg leaves out the part of the transcript he doesn't like.

"yes but..." ect.

Think about this: The secret service would not let this guy in if they thought he was disqualified to be president; if he was a risk. He would be easy to spot.
Also, he was a underdog in the beginning of the election cycle who would be easy to "swift-boat" for many reasons real or fake if the opposition wanted to.

Having said that; I can't prove this, but I suspect that if the long-form birth certificate were unearthed and examined by the best forensic scientists in the United States, and also verified by the top lawyers - republicans and democrats- in the country; and if then one of these doubters was actually IN THE ROOM with these people holding the ceritificate IN THEIR HANDS...they would call it all a big conspiracy because ANYTHING CAN BE FAKED.

Call me kooky.

I would love to take that bet. Any bookies (or lockmallup) want to give me even odds against Obama's being sworn in as President on January 20? Can you cover, oh, say, $10,000?

Cuckoos like AJAX2 keep screaming it hasn't ever been made public. Yet it has. And was months and months ago. The cuckoos however, think Obama has an obligation to hand the certificate directly to each of them for personal examination. They really do! Cuckoos!

FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false. We have posted high-resolution photographs of the document as "supporting documents" to this article. Our conclusion: Obama was born in the U.S.A. just as he has always said.

Posted by: infuse | December 17, 2008 11:18 PM | Report abuse

The Associated Press quoted director of Hawaii’s Department of Health, Chiyome Fukino as saying that both she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate.

Fukino also was quoted by several other news organizations. The Honolulu Advertiser quoted Fukino as saying the agency had been bombarded by requests, and that the registrar of statistics had even been called in at home in the middle of the night.

Honolulu Advertiser, Nov. 1 2008: "This has gotten ridiculous," state health director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said yesterday. "There are plenty of other, important things to focus on, like the economy, taxes, energy." . . . Will this [announcement of the authenticity of Obama's Hawaiian birth] be enough to quiet the doubters? "I hope so," Fukino said. "We need to get some work done."

Fukino said she has “personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures."

Of course none of this will stop cuckoos like AJAX2 and others from showing their lunacy.

Join Exploding Demand For Citizenship Documentation

Obama has not and refuses to prove to America that he is eligible as a “natural born citizen,” as required by Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution to be President of the United States. Instead Obama has had three law firms (firms, not lawyers) on retainer since the day he was elected to public office and throughout his presidential campaign to make sure that the public does not get access to his birth records in Hawaii or his college transcripts from Occidental College and Harvard.

The question of Obamas' eligibility MUST be pursued because if Obama turns out to be nothing but an usurper acting in the guise of “the President,” Obama will not constitutionally be the “Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States”(see Article II, Section 2, Clause 1). Therefore, he will be entitled to no obedience whatsoever from anyone in those forces. Indeed, for officers or men to follow any of his purported “orders” will constitute a serious breach of military discipline—and in extreme circumstances perhaps even “war crimes.” In addition, no one in any civilian agency in the Executive Branch of the General Government will be required to put into effect any of Obama’s purported “proclamations,”“executive orders,” or “directives.”

Paulson might have been the better choice from a "50 years from now" perspective. A Republican did this? A Christian Scientist?

Palin's a joke, a footnote to history, evidence that feminism has weird offshoots.

Obama's win in the race for the presidency against a former president's wife and a war hero is serious stuff.

Paulson should have been chosen so that the incompetency of the Bush administration could be acknowledged for an additional year. Since Bush was previously selected, Obama should be insulted to be included in Bush's company.

The "question" of Obama's eligibility by an impaired lawyer who is unable to quote the section of the US code that would bring into question Obama's eligibility. There is smoke but no fire.

RE:"Rejoice America, the callow Child savior from the loony-left is here. Forget the vote ye bitter non-believers clinging to thy guns and false religions, for the liberal media hath anointed TheOne president.

Stoop to his level? Man, you mean I have to go to Harvard Law School, teach at the University of Chicago, be elected an Illinois State Senator and then a U.S. Senator? I don't think I can stoop that high.

Posted by: EnemyOfTheState | December 17, 2008 4:38 PM | Report abuse

And it came to pass, in the eighth year of the reign of the evil Bush the Younger (The Ignorant), that a Child appeared in the wilderness.

The Child was blessed in looks and intellect. Scion of a simple family, offspring of a miraculous union, grandson of a typical white person and an African peasant. And yea, as he grew, the Child walked in the path of affirmative-action special treatment and righteousness, with only the occasional detour into the odd weed and a little blow.

When he was twelve years old, they found him in the temple in the City of Chicago learning all from the Prophet God D@#! America Jeremiah and the Elders. And the Elders were astonished at what they heard and said among themselves: “Verily, who is this Child that he opens our hearts and minds to the audacity of hope?” And they went forth singing the praises of Hope-Change, Change-Hope, Hope-able Change, Change-able Hope and similar droppings from the massive bull.

And so it was, in the fullness of time, before the harvest month of the appointed year, the Child ventured forth - for the first time - to bring the light unto all the world, and he was declared "TheOne".

Rejoice America, the callow Child savior from the loony-left is here. Forget the vote ye bitter non-believers clinging to thy guns and false religions, for the liberal media hath anointed TheOne president.

All must now stoop to the Child''s level; resistance is futile.

Time's criteria is to nominate the person/people/whatever (I believe one year they gave it to "The Computer") who has made the most difference, for good OR bad, in the past year. The criteria has nothing to do with being the best, the brightest, the most inspirational, etc., which is why people like Hitler are on the list. (As the friend and niece of Holocaust survivors, sadly, I agree that Hitler fit the criteria.)

I happen to feel that Pres.-Elect Obama DOES fit the criteria. He has inspired many millions of people worldwide to hope for the future again, after 8 years of a president who has brought us economic and environmental disaster, as well as having destroyed America's prestige around the globe.

How can Obama be "person" of the year. We all know that his birth can't be documented. When Superman's spacecraft crashed in eastern Kansas, Ba-Rak crawled out to be nurtured and raised by a simple farm couple. They had a cousin in Hawaii plant a "Birth Certificate" (a non-vault copy) and a birth announcement in the local paper. His handlers on Krypton saw to it that he was whisked from home to home and educated in madrassas that more closely reflect the philosophy of his father Jor-El.

“And just like Obama broke through a long unassailable barrier, Alaska Gov. and Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin pushed the political envelope for women.”

Love her or hate her, Hillary Clinton paved the way for Sarah Palin and pushed the political envelope for women candidates. I am not sure what Sarah did for women.

Knowing that the Republican goon squads are suffering really puts me in the holiday spirit, I do confess. The citizenship and corruption obsessives are especially amusing. After eight years in the wilderness it is great to see the forces of evil reduced to a bunch of impotent mewling little nothings. Merry Christmas, you sad little sour grapes boys!

ritual suicide-

It's the only respectable path the ReaganKnuckledraggers have left.
I urge (beg!) you to off yourselves in some collective manner.

(please film it so that I can slip it on the TV during my grand Inauguration Day party)

Thank Goodness we will not have that liver lillied GOP President on Time's possible runner up for Man Of The Year. It would be a real Kick in the Head if the Iraq reporter was 2nd in line after Obama! Seeing GWB getting a hit in the head (which is no great loss to anyone) would be the delight of the year!

Again, Bush has nothing concrete to offer the American people as possible solution or compromoze with the Auto Industry. He, like all of us have to depend on administration decision, since he probably knows less than nothing that would be of any value. Just dont touch his investments or money! What a great ending that would be to this p**s poor individual's
disgusting career!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rumor has it Obama narrowly beat out Hugo Chavez for this award.

Posted by: Superpower
------------------------------------
Those damned rumors, lol...wonder why the "rumor" didn't go so far as to say that Barack "Hussein" Obama lost to Hugo Chavez...oh, I know...because then it would be an obvious lie instead of a preceived lie. Well, no really rumor could have had it that Chevez was named Person of the Year, because the Repukes and other Obama Haters would then have insisted that the Times Cover was hijacked by the "Chicago Political Machine" and replaced Chevez with Obama, lol, lol, lol...Obama HATERS; I love you guys...you keep me laughing, lol...JakeD and Joe the Plummer are your lead cheerleaders...you Betcha!

Really?! I am blown away! This comes as a complete surprise to me. I was placing my bets on Shaquille O'Neal. Well, I'll be darned.

The question remains whether Obama is a "natural born" citizen. You thought Madoff (sp?) was a fraud.

The question only remains with you JakeD. You and ReaganiteRepulican are cut from the same cloth, lol...get over it, Barack "Hussein" Obama is "your" new President too, lol...oh BTW, I'm sure it gave you great pleasure to know that Barack likes the idea of the use of his middle name too, lol...you did hear that he insisted upon using it during his swearing in...you were right and we were wrong, Barack perfers being called "Barack Hussein Obama"...he is as proud of his full name as is...well you, lol...

Please continue to do articles on how Obama's erased barriers, overcome "obstacles", likes to play basketball, his puppies, neckties, etc.

Those of us who have waited-and-waited for the media to get off their collective duff and properly vet this candidate have long given up hope that they'd hang up their pom-poms and get to work. They were always more interested in discrediting or explaining-away red flags than any effective form of scrutiny.

To them, the smoke eminating from Illinois politics is just another "distraction"... and our intentions are suspect if we dare to ask to know the details.

The MSM somehow don't feel the need to be concerned with Obama’s upbringing in the cauldron of Chicago Machine politics, and how such a nobody rose to State senator, US senator, and President-elect in just a few years with no tangible achievements... while assumed to be pure as the driven snow.

However, Rezko or Blagojevich, facing lengthy stays in the Gray Bar Hotel, might be just a bit more motivated to shed some light on the many dubious events in Obama's past.

How really, truly sad it is that we now have to look to men like these two scoundrels to bring much of the country to it's senses... when the clues were there all-along, for anyone who cared to have more than a purfunctory glance.

This administration will end in disgrace- stay tuned
