Back to Powell's press conference, did he refer to Obama as "VICE President Elect" (00:02)? "First Lady Elect"? R.A.T. LOL! Since I also served in the Army -- and still serve plenty in my own community -- I don't need this RINO lecturing me.

For instance, if the "entire political establishment" thought it was just fine to let Arnold Schwarzenegger become President short of a formal Constitutional Amendment, I would object to that as well. Would you?

P.S. to KayinMaine: I am registered Independent, so you will have to ask someone else who actually said that. If there were similar questions of the Republican's qualifications -- and he had "won" -- I would be making the same exact argument but suspect you would be singing a different tune.

I am not moving anywhere until the Good Lord calls me home. I will only serve Him, not an imposter. Technically, Joe Biden becomes Acting President until pResident Evil Obama's qualifications are established.

And JakeD? You won't serve President Obama? Huh. Wasn't it the right wingers who said for the last 8 years that not loving & supporting president Bush meant one is anti-American and unpatriotic? Oh boy. Quite the corner you neocons have boxed yourself in, huh? Well, get used to loving, serving, and supporting your new President, because this is what your mantra has been!

Notice how the right wingers above cringe at the idea of serving the American people? Not surprised. This is why our country is so messed up right now, because after 8 years of a president serving himself & the top tier of our society ONLY, it's no wonder the right wingers have no idea how to react.

Powell can serve us up some more bull on Iraq's WMDs... eh, General?

Credibility, LOST.

Oh Sofia, General Powell is a big boy--nobody hung him out to dry. He was as complicit as anybody in selling the failed intelligence at the UN. With an ounce of fortitude, he could have recovered and been right back in the arena. However, he is far too busy with his small-time help-a-few, feel-good work at his alma mater in NY. He is the most pathetic might-have-been, almost-was out there. The "Head Volunteer" role is very Carter-esque, don't you think.

Posted by: but_seriously | January 9, 2009 9:41 PM

And now Powell looks like a tool for shilling a rogue website that links to an anti-bush shoe toss as a public service.

After reading the many pointless statements made by JakeD, I have come to realize he craves attention. Will someone please give him hug and put him on the next plane to nowhere, so that the rest of us can continue some meaningful discourse.

WE DON'T KNOW what was offered to Colin Powell. He might have even been offered Secretary of Defense from Obama and turned it down, just wanting to do something "lightweight" such as encouraging volunteerism. In fact, that's quite likely. Powell never made a run for President. He never was very ambitious for anything in the political sphere after Bush hung him out to dry at the United Nations (his debacle speach about Saddam's supposed WMD'S). So, I think Powell considers himself now more or less retired, but still wants to do something helpful. And, programs like this can be quite helpful to people.

"I will not serve pResident Obama. No king but Jesus.

Posted by: JakeD | January 9, 2009 6:09 PM |"
So do you see the flaw in your statement?, first, Obama is not a king, he is a democratically elected President. So do you mean that you would not serve Bush, or Clinton, or Reagan and so on? If so, then your intent to damage Obama with your statement falls really flat.

Planning on moving to another country?, or not paying taxes?

Posted by: JRM2 | January 9, 2009 7:48 PM

So this is what Colin Powell gets to be after giving a key endorsement in the election? He's nothing more than a spokesman?
