Three New Homeland Security Hires

By Spencer S. Hsu
President Obama announced his intention to nominate Jane Holl Lute as deputy secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, and DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano will bring two of her top aides from Arizona to serve as chiefs of staff for policy and operations.

Lute, 52, is the United Nations assistant secretary for peacebuilding support and served as director of European affairs on the National Security Council from 1991 to 1994 during the administrations of George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Before joining the U.N. in 2003, she was chief operating officer of the United Nations Foundation and the Better World Fund, headed the Carnegie Commission on Preventing Deadly Conflict and was a senior public policy fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, according to a U.N. biography.

Married with three children, Lute retired from an Army career in 1994, and earned a law degree from Georgetown University and doctorate degree in political science from Stanford University.

Napolitano, Arizona governor from 2003 until her Senate confirmation Tuesday, also announced that her gubernatorial deputy chief of staff, Noah Kroloff, would serve as her chief of staff for policy; and Jan Lesher, her former chief of staff and state commerce department director, would serve as chief of staff for operations.

Kroloff, a lawyer, was an economic development and policy adviser to the governor, while Lesher ran a public relations and consulting company before joining Napolitano's team.

"Jane's experience leading large operations with broad and challenging missions lends itself to the undertaking we have before us at Homeland Security," Napolitano said. "I look forward to working with these talented individuals as we work to further unify this department under our common mission."

DHS: Stop of the "War OF Terror" on U.S. Citizens (and change the name, too)

NSA SPYING on public, virtually all journalists, just the baseline 'program' for THIS?

http://www.borderinvasionpics.com has been blocked from DHS.gov computers.

Censored would be another word.

It shows current video of illegal aliens sneaking across the border and it is apparently NOT what the new DHS leadership wants people to see.

Re: Homeland Security
The U.S. houses thousands of dangerous criminals that are too much of a risk to let back into society so what is the problem with closing Gitmo and putting them in American jails where the ones we know are too dangerous will never see the light of day?

JakeD presents a legal thesis, and Blackstone genuflects in awe.

And yes, the Bush administration's "Homeland Security" name is straight out of the Nazi lexicon. Change it!

At least I don't resort to ad hominem personal attacks against anyone posting here. I guess if you can't rebut my legal argument, that's all you've left though.

Why do some folks here still bother answering to anything "JakeD" has to say?

Posted by: sgtpepper23 | January 23, 2009 6:35 PM

Ignore the nutcases.

Barack Obama is President.

Thank God.

Now that we as a country have rejected facism, can we please change the name of "Homeland Security" to something less Naziesque?

If anyone else wants to discuss the difference between short and LONG FORM birth certificates -- or the burden of proof in Quo Warranto actions -- please see my posts on the thread: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2009/01/22/oaths_bibles_and_presidents.html

Until someone PROVES otherwise PRESIDENT Obama (get used to it, you are going to hear it for the next 8 years) is legally POTUS, therefore your argument is null and void.

Now, if you said something like "President Obama should be challenged on his natural-born citizen status" that could not be refuted. However, at this moment, since there is no challenge or proof otherwise that he is not a natural-born citizen and that he was elected, and inaugurated then your statements like "Obama is not POTUS are nothing more that blather.

So shut up.

Hawaii Revised Statute 338-178 at the time allowed for registration of an out-of-State birth of any child that was born outside of Hawaii to parents who, for a year preceding the child’s birth, claimed Hawaii as their place of residence. In addition, between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, the law specified that if you were born outside of the United States and only one of your parents was a citizen, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least 10 years, at least FIVE of which were after the age of 16.

That was not the case with Obama's mother. Why won't Obama release his LONG FORM birth certificate? “Short-form by declaration” fraud is a plausible explanation that seems to fit the known facts. If Obama was born in Kenya, and if his mother simply traveled back to Hawaii with him shortly thereafter, and falsely declared his birth (including the newspaper announcements), then she alone broke the law, without the assistance of any co-conspirators. He may not even know the truth -- although I doubt that given the time and expense incurred to avoid producing proof -- the original LONG FORM vault record in Hawaii, if it exists, has not been examined, and Obama has refused to even allow it to be examined, let along produce a certified copy in any court proceeding. The Government of Hawaii has stated that the “Certificate of Live Birth” (which appeared on Obama’s website) is valid, and it may be valid, if it was produced from short-form database records. However, if the short form records were fraudulently established by declaration, in the absence of a long-form witness of live birth, then a fraud has been perpetrated.

Constitutional crisis, here we come.

"President" Obama cannot legally nominate anyone.

Posted by: JakeD
------
Got news for you, PRESIDENT Obama has been legally nominating all kinds of people and none of the candidates that PRESIDENT Obama has nominated have been legally challenged by anyone including yourself.

PRESIDENT Obama is going about the business of fixing a broken country while you go about the business of twiddling your neurons.
